Dragon Age Inquisition Scenery - Grand Florest Villa
Before the Orlesian occupation of Ferelden, Arl Jacen Guerrin ordered its construction to serve as living quarters for his "close friend," famed singer and swordsman Ser Corram the Bard. Arlessa Marguerite, Jacen's wife, understood and supported her husband's relationship with Corram—only stipulating that the bard not live at the castle to avoid any public scandal.
"Arl Jacen's Ride" was a popular tavern song for many years, jokingly honoring the arl's attempts to return from the villa before the sun rose. Ser Corram lived happily there until his death at the age of 90, several years after the death of Arl Jacen himself. Arlessa Marguerite ordered Corram's body burned with full honors in a hunting cloak that belonged to the arl.
After Ser Corram's death, the villa was used by the arl's family as a summer home. It was abandoned during the chaos of the Fifth Blight.

Sidane and Morrigan: 12 and 16. Rionne and Josie: 23 and 24, please!
thank you!! 🖤
12. What struggle have they seen each other through?
there's the whole Blight, but that's a cheap answer so I will not go w that lol. okay here's one that idk if I've ever shared before, but Sidane lost their vision to an injury at the top of Fort Drakon.
(injuries/eye pain cw) a shriek was going to catch Morrigan off-guard, and Sidane just... jumped in the way. they weren't really thinking, bc if they were, they probably just would've used a magical barrier or something. but instead they panicked, and their face got clawed instead of Morrigan's head. now I'm perfectly aware that Morrigan canonically leaves after that fight if the ritual happened, buuuut it's my brain and I say that she stuck around after that, at least for a bit. it wasn't for long and might not even count for this question, tbh? but she stayed with them for a few days until they woke up, since the shriek got them badly enough that they were out of commission for the rest of the fight. Alistair was the one to get the final blow against the Archdemon.
16. How do they react when the other is upset? How do they try to help?
I won't lie to you, I feel like they're BOTH bad at this, at least initially lol. Morrigan grew up w friggin Flemeth as her role model, so I doubt she has any good examples to follow? Sidane is a liiiiittle better, since they have Jowan, their sister Perry, and best friend Ramori, so there's experience there in comforting others even if they're not the best at it. but Morrigan? nah. I feel like she doesn't know how to handle that at first, but learns as time goes on.
tbh they probably just kind of give the other space, at least in the beginning of their relationship? neither of them know what to do but don't want to make it worse, so they'll just leave the other be. but that changes when they start to fall for each other; Morrigan is a bit harder for me to pin down in how she'd comfort them, aside from spending time w them and listening to them vent. Sidane, on the other hand, tries to make Morrigan feel better by leaving a pretty flower or two in her tent, or on her things. historically they've always been a casual hook-up sort of person, they don't have experience with actual romantic feelings, but plenty of novels say that flowers are a good gift, right? they're trying. give them both some time in their relationship to not be as awkward with FEELINGS.
Josie/Rionne
23. What was their first impression of each other?
was Josie there when the Inquisitor was unconscious after popping out of the Fade? if yes, then I'd imagine she was probably curious as well as cautious? they just survived a huge disaster and they have that glowing arm now, so I think I'd feel the same way. if not, I think Josie might have thought Rionne was impressive and brave for how she'd sealed the Rift, but was also... kind of chilly? which isn't wrong, bc Rionne IS a chilly person in general - that just gets amplified when she's a Dalish mage surrounded by human Chantry members who seem to think she's a prophet for their religion. Rionne didn't enjoy her time at Haven, lbr.
on Rionne's end, she was initially suspicious (as she was with everybody), until Josephine greeted her in elvish. for Rionne, it was the first time anybody at Haven had treated her with respect; praising her for the Rift or being their Herald set her on edge at the least and irritated her at worst, because she had no choice in the former and she outright denied the latter every chance she got. so Rionne kind of decided that she had a soft spot for Josie from word go, haha.
24. How did they fall for each other?
would it be corny to say just by being themselves? 🖤 okay less corny, I think it happened just as they got to know and understand each other. they're both hardworking women who put their families (Lavellan and Montilyet) first, so much of what they do is for the people they love and there was a real solidarity that came with that. Josephine is caring and compassionate, gives Rionne cuddles while respecting her asexuality. she knows that sometimes Rionne's just going to be prickly, or not touchy-feely, and it doesn't mean that she's any less loving than she was yesterday. Rionne went out of her way multiple times to help Josephine with her family, and outright dueled somebody else so Josie wouldn't have to marry a stranger. lots of little things and big things adding up to a nice picture.

Curiosity has gotten the better of me so I am asking for Sebastian too. If you haven’t played with him much or are not comfortable, how about Sigrun?
Why not both!
Sebastian
Tumblr media
They are soooooo cool looking - He's extremely pretty and I like his accent a lot.
Wasted potential/why was this character in the work at all - I am twisting the meaning of that second one to mean 'why was he in the specific work that he was in' aka 'why was he a DLC companion?' He feels very integral to the game and I'm not sure why BioWare made a DLC that can change the way the climax plays out so much? Also there's so many instances where it feels weird that you can't have more interactions with him. I happened to have him in my party when Elthina just casually watched Mother Petrice get murdered, for instance. And it's just... hey, Seb, are you okay? Your mother-figure just sat by and let a murder happen, do you not wanna talk about that maybe? (I probably should've also marked 'should have gotten more screen time' but I, uh, failed to notice it whoops)
They're deeper than they seem/they got done dirty by fans - He's not the stick in the mud everyone makes him out to be! I feel like there's a weird thing that goes on where a lot of other characters make assumptions about him and then some fans just... take those assumptions at face value? I also think it's a pity that more people haven't played his DLC - I'm kind of sad it took me so long to play his DLC! They've never done anything wrong in their life - He's so kind! And I really like his locational comments where he looks at poverty and gets very surprised and/or upset - like, this is a guy from a very sheltered upbringing but he cares, y'know? And I think that's very cool and sexy of him.
Sigrun
Tumblr media
They are soooooo cool looking - The facial tattoos slap, this is self-evident. If they were real I would marry them - She is a plucky and sensitive goth gf, this is also self-evident. Didn't get enough screen time/they got done dirty by fans - a) That one Awakening glitch where you don't get any content with the person you recruit last is a goddamn travesty and b) she is terminally underappreciated! Then again, given the scrapped Bury Your Gays comics plot with her, her lack of screen time might be for the best. :( They've never done anything wrong in their life - This is possibly a consequence of her lack of screen time but I genuinely cannot think of anything particularly #problematic she says or does? Yes, she was a criminal, but that's on the Dwarven caste system. They're deeper than they seem - The very fact of being in the Legion of the Dead makes Sigrun SO compelling, honestly - and then moving from that into the Wardens, which is also a form of symbolic death but one taken way less seriously than the Legion. Coupled with being a formerly casteless dwarf on the surface for the first time... There's just so much there and I wish she got more attention from both BioWare and fans, tbh.

📓 !
okay this is lowkey cheating bc I have written a bit of it, buuut I haven't touched it in months so it counts, right? right.
Shepley fic, set post-Virmire, because apparently I like being sad about that! so my own Shepard, Meg, isn't great with her emotions. she very much hides them behind a stoic mask, and keeps people at a distance ever since what happened at Akuze. it's just easier that way for her. she's thrown herself into the Alliance, into following the rules and being a proper soldier and doing the right thing. enter Ashley, and enter her starting to fall for this tough, intelligent, beautiful woman who understands her survivor's guilt in a way few other people do.
Meg's able to keep a lid on it, for the most part, until Virmire happens. Kaidan is one of her close friends, as well as the senior officer between the two. by military protocol standards, what she should have done was rescue him. she wasn't able to bring herself to leave Ashley behind, though, and had to admit to herself the reason why she broke protocol and rules this time.
cue Ashley, as she does in-game after Virmire, saying that it should've been her instead of Kaidan. a conversation set in private, because I always thought it was kind of silly that Shepard and the VS have that in front of the rest of the squad.

Leeva Maharial: 💦 ; Farira Aeducan: 👀 ; Molina Hawke: 😍 , and Katrina Hawke: 🧸
thank you!! this is late and that's my bad skdfgnsks
💦 : Is your OC’s attractiveness based on looks or a more intangible aura?
aura, I think. Leeva is very pretty, but they're also pretty cold and distant when you first meeting them (though in all fairness, that probably works for some people lol.) also the fact that they're obviously (and proudly) Dalish, and we all know that the majority of Thedas doesn't see that as a good thing. so while I'd say that their looks definitely play into how attractive they are, it's really how warm and kind they are when you get to know them that draws people in?
but ofc, it depends for everybody, so take that as you will sdkfgj
👀 : Does your OC believe they are attractive? Do they use that to their advantage?
yes but also no? they know they're conventionally attractive by both dwarven and human standards, they've received a ton of compliments from suitors back in Orzammar based on their looks, but they're also very... "meh" about it all, if that makes sense? I think Fari just doesn't place a ton of value onto physical appearance, both with themself and others, so their perception of themself is "sure, I'm pretty, but can I be bothered to care about that?" compliment their looks and you'll get an "oh thank you, that's very kind", but compliment their brains or personality and you'll get a more genuine response is basically where I'm going with this lol.
as for whether or not they use it to their advantage, it depends on the situation lol. they're not above a little bit of flirting and flaunting their looks if it'll get them somewhere or something they want, but it's not their first instinct either.
😍 : What does your OC find irresistible in others?
passion, I think! Merrill being energetic and enthusiastic in everyday life is what caught Molina's eye in the first place, and she fell in love with her when she saw her earnestly passionate she was about restoring the mirror and making things better for her people. on that note, you could probably add kindness and compassion into what Molina finds attractive too lol
🧸 : Into public displays of affection or are they more reserved?
Kat's definitely more on the reserved side. I figure the extent of her PDA is probably holding hands, hugs, and ofc forehead kisses. she is a happy mess for Sebastian's forehead kisses. other than that, she prefers to be somewhere private for displays of affection.

For the OC+different LI meme: Leeva Mahariel + Morrigan (I don't abide by her being straight), Farira Aeducan + Zevran (omg she's so pretty btw), and Quista Adaar + Josephine
you sure are right she isn't! idk how bioware expects me to believe Morrigan is straight when she has so many lines talking about how much she does not like men and generally looks down on them, like come on.
and oh man, these ones (sans Quista/Josie) are all pairs I actually really strongly considered for all of them and nearly made canon, fun fact ksdfjgsgk
Leeva + Morrigan
okay so Leeva and Morrigan were close from the beginning, and bonded because of how they were both comparatively "outsiders" to society, Dalish elf and forest witch. and I mean, Leeva did have a big crush on Morrigan, too. they just never pursued it for a number of reasons - mostly that they were still grieving Tamlen, and that they were wary about the idea of romance with a human.
I think that they could have worked well together as a couple if things had gone slightly differently! Leeva loves kids and would be such a doting parent to Kieran, for one. but at the same time, Leeva's a lot more shy and anxious and withdrawn while Morrigan is... not lol. and they might have been good for rounding out each other and being a balancing act, but I feel like it's just as likely that they wouldn't be able to mesh in that area and their personalities there would clash. idk if I'm explaining it particularly well, but I just get the feeling that Leeva's personality would sometimes be drowned out by Morrigan's bolder one, if that makes any sense at all?? whereas they're more emboldened by Tamlen and Zevran's personalities. but with all that said, I still occasionally wonder if Leeva/Morrigan would be better, so... :P
Farira + Zevran
let the record state that I haven't finished Farira's playthrough yet, or Quista's. (Farira appreciates the compliment, by the way! :D) so if I load up the game sometime and change my mind on her romances and decisions, well, such is how it goes when my mind and OCs are fickle and I haven't touched a playthrough in months. 🥴
anyway, Fari and Zev! I also really considered this one, since Fari and Zev can be on basically the same wavelength at times; Farira was sort of conceived as "partying sorority sister: Orzammar royalty edition" who has issues with Orzammar's society and emphasis on caste structure, but still loves her people. she's just not interested in ruling herself, and she doesn't like the idea that it's something she'll have to do, it's too much pressure and she doesn't want the job. but that's only marginally related and I talk too much LOL; I think they would get along well and they could also last for a while as a couple. the only issue is really that there just isn't that attraction between them, at least last time I played, but they're still great friends and they care about each other a lot.
Quista + Josephine
poor Quista, her playthrough is even more unfinished than Farira's is. that's my bad, I'll wrangle my brain into finishing it sometime (thank you, ADHD). but Quista and Josie would actually be terribly adorable together, I think, and they might be better suited for each other than my plans for Quista/Sera? my only issue with the idea atm is simply that I've done Josephine's romance already with Rionne Lavellan, and I really love Sera and want to see her romance with Quista lol. I like the idea that she'll be able to draw Quista more out of her shell and inspire her to have fun. but if Quista's more into Josephine, then that's fine too and I'll let her go for it. it's all pretty up in the air rn.

🩸 for Odelina Payne-Isibis and 🎁 for Rosemary Hawke, please!
thank you so much!! 😄
🩸 - Does your OC believe in blood being thicker than water? (meaning family relationships and loyalties are the most important)
if we can count found family in this then yeah, definitely! blood family is a bit tricky, given her being adopted and her adoptive family being dead, but back when her parents were still around, she was fiercely loyal to them and adored them. she still does love them, but she tries not to think about them too much these days. avoiding the pain and all that.
that said, Odelina absolutely considers the Shepherds to be her new family, and there's very little she wouldn't do for them. she's a little rough in expressing it or other mushy feelings, but they're the most important thing in her life.
🎁 - What kind of gift-giver are they? Do they give thoughtful gifts? Expensive gifts? Practical gifts?
ignoring for a moment all of the "wrong" gifts that Hawke can give in-game (fandom pls the jokes here are a bit overplayed), Rosemary's more of a homemade gifts sort of gal! mostly it's clothes that she sewed, or a blanket for her companions that live in draftier places. maybe also some goat milk products too, though? she does scandalize Hightown by having a pet goat. I'll have to think on that later.
I guess YMMV on how practical the sweaters are if Kirkwall isn't a cold place lol, but they're very heartfelt and possibly have cute patterns if those are a thing in Thedas (and why not? heart and butterfly patterns are cute.) everybody needs blankets, though. that said, she's comfortable with going out and buying something nice with that sweet Champion money for her friends as well.

For the meme: 33 and 46 for Sidane/Morrigan, 28 and 48 for Migdalia/Ashley
thank you!! 🖤 placing under a cut since this got long
Sidane/Morrigan
33. How do they flirt? Who’s the worse flirt?
I think this one probably depends on personal tastes, haha. Sidane has always been a charmer and a flirt, and had several short-lived relationships and flings when they were in the Circle, so they definitely know how to flirt and charm. Morrigan's none too shabby herself, though? they're both coy, while Morrigan tends to cut to the chase after a bit whereas Sidane enjoys drawing out flirting and laying down the charm. if that makes any sense at all, haha.
46. Do they consider their relationship casual or serious? Is the answer different depending on who you ask? Why?
those two were so in denial of their relationship turning serious, even when it was apparent to everybody else that there was more going on between them than sex lol. they're both scared of love, so it takes almost the entirety of the Blight to get them to admit they have feelings for each other. I'm pretty sure if you asked either of them, the answer would be the same - it's just casual sex, nothing more to it than that.
Sidane was the one to come to terms with it and accept that they were in love first, roughly around when Morrigan told them about what she found in the grimoire. the idea of Morrigan dying or getting hurt horrified them, and the situation kind of forced Sidane to finally accept what they were feeling emotionally.
Migdalia/Ashley
28. Who’s the better chef? Do they cook for the other?
definitely not Meg, who came from the streets and then enlisted in the military at 18. she can do some simple stuff, like making sandwiches, but anything beyond that she just doesn't have the experience with. Ashley, on the other hand, I could see her cooking with her family growing up and being pretty decent in the kitchen! I imagine them cooking for each other isn't really an option until the war's over (military rations and all), but when they are able to be more domestic, they prefer to cook together. it's one of the little things that Meg didn't have a family to do with when she was growing up, and both she and Ashley want to make up for those lost experiences together.
48. Do they talk about their future together? Why or why not?
in the time frame of ME1, I don't think they would have? Meg was trying to deny her feelings for Ashley to herself up until Virmire - she's strict with following the rules and fraternization so breaks the rules. they were starting to discuss things with each other after Saren's death and decide what they wanted to do, since they value both each other and their careers, but well. the Collectors made this one a bit of a moot point.
they don't talk about it often in the frame of ME3, because everything is so uncertain and there's no guarantee that they'll even make it out alive. but they do sometimes, late at night. quietly talking about the things they want to do together and the places they want to see - when they make it out alive, in those conversations, because there's so much gloom surrounding them already. it's nice to have those moments where they can talk about their future together like it's a guaranteed thing, before the morning comes and reality's back.

For the meme, Lyn, the murder section of questions: How did they react? Inner dialog and all?
thank you so much! 🖤
How did they react? Inner dialog and all
about as well as anybody would, given the circumstances 🙃Lyn was shocked, at first, and just froze up at the sight. one of their initial thoughts was how it just... didn't feel real? it made them think of some special effects one of their dads used for a film once. reality set in fairly quickly though, and they were naturally horrified at what was happening, and angry. this was supposed to be a stupid, corny dating show, and now somebody is dead?
when the dust settled and they'd had the time to calm down, Lyn quickly came to the conclusion that there was just. no possible way this could be an accident. which means it must've been on purpose, and that means that everybody is a suspect and everybody's in danger. combine that with Lyn's natural tendency to want to get to the bottom of things, and they decided they were going to found out who did it and why. stay tuned to find out if this ends well for them.
