Her footsteps were mute as she padded forward on the concrete, searching furiously through her crochet bag. The box in her hands stayed tightly gripped though, Roger noted. He waited a bit until he was certain she had no chance of finding what he thought she was looking for, and that he would be her last resort.
“Need a light?”
He watched with careful eyes as the girl next to him fumbled about to pick out a cigarette from the nearly emptied box, probably just some cheap ones from the gas station near the dorms.
“Yes, thanks.”
The brunet nodded, bringing his forward to her’s and inhaling, a few loose embers falling to the ground in a sparkling orange flurry.
Roger observed the way her chipped nails on ring adorned fingers shakily held the cigarette as she brought it to her lips, taking a very long drag.
It was windy out that night (which was the reason he was telling himself he decided not to bother with his Zippo), her silky black dress doing barely a thing to keep her covered from the chilly temperatures. He noticed the blue tint to her formerly painted lips, only a pale stain of color left behind. He also happened to notice the goosebumps that graced her exposed arms and legs, and her slight shiver that came with it.
The girl nervously adjusted the twisted strap to her purse, sending a glance in Rog’s direction every once in a while, but mostly she kept her gaze fixed on the stars above. She seemed to be mesmerized by the way they twinkled so brightly, even in the polluted sky. The bottles of liquor in her purse clinked together, and she cringed visibly at the sound, a shiver being sent through her bones.
He smiled at her behavior, oddly endeared by it, perhaps even enchanted.
“What’s your name?”
She turned, taking the stick from between her lips. Roger kept his eyes glued to the plump flesh momentarily despite the movement away from the area.
“That’s none of your business, Roger.” She smiled, a playful look set ablaze in her eyes.
He looked down, putting his hands up in mock surrender.
“How do you know my name, then?” He questioned curiously, slanting his eyes and quirking a brow.
“Your band.” Her voice seemed softer, almost a fond tone set within it.
“You’ve seen us play?”
“Yeah, you guys are good.”
“You’re a fan then?”
She chuckled, looking to her feet.
“I wouldn’t go that far.”
He laughed, nodding yet again.
They stayed together for some time, silently and mutually agreeing that enough had been said. They finished off their smokes, and with that, she turned to go.
“Bye, Roger.”
He bit his lip, feeling the sting shoot through him. He was conflicted on if to make a move, not wanting to diminish his confident and cool reputation he believed he had built for himself. He settled for shouting something along the lines of “will I see you around?” (which upon thinking back over it, maybe it wasn’t that cool), to which she only shrugged and kept walking.
He could hear the bottles loudly clanking together as she sauntered off, lord knows where to. He watched her go until she turned the corner, tossing one final look in his direction before continuing on, leaving him in deep thought.
-
“I’m telling you, mate, she was drop dead gorgeous. And I have no idea who she is, no name or anything!”
Brian rolled his eyes, tossing his notebook across the room onto the yellow sofa Roger was resting on, turning his full attention to his distraught friend.
“Well, did you ask her for her name?”
He shook his head, rolling his eyes in a similar manner to Bri. “Yes, I did. She said it was ‘none of my business’.” He scoffed, twirling a single drumstick between his fingers while tapping his foot repeatedly, annoying Brian to no end (per usual). The curly headed man only barked out a laugh, finding the entire situation quite humorous, if he was being honest.
“But she knew the band! Said that she thought we were good. S’ like she couldn’t make up her damn mind.” He grumbled, slumping forward.
“Wait, she knows the band?”
The drummer looked at him like he had two heads nodding slowly.
“Yeah, what about it?”
Brian stood up and sighed, grabbing his guitar and headed to the edge of the bar’s stage, resting behind the curtain briefly.
“You really are thick, Roger.”
“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?” He joined him by the curtain, noticing Tim had come up behind the pair.
“What’s all this about, then?”
“Nothing.” Brian and Roger replied in unison. Tim huffed, making his way onto the stage where the growing crowd was waiting. Cheers could be heard for the frontman as he introduced himself, saying something about how the rest of the band would be out in a second, and that they were just having some “sound issues”.
“Rog, if she’s a fan, she’s probably here tonight, yes?”
His eyes widened, and he suddenly began to feel quite dumb, not that he would admit it.
“Yeah, I suppose so…but she said she wasn’t a fan?” He trailed off, confused.
“She probably was just saying that for some reason. I don’t know, women are odd, they like to play hard to get.” Brian commented, oddly flippant for how conflicting his statement was.
Roger stood in place for a moment, still greatly confused what Brian was trying to get at. He shook his head and furrowed his brows, trying to put together the puzzle of this mess in his mind.
“Roger, for God's sake, don’t think about it, just go.”
Following his advice, Roger did his best to disregard any previous thoughts of confusion, a switch flipping in his mind. He stood taller, saying, “You know what Bri, maybe you’re right.”
“Great, go on then.” He watched as Roger bounded out with a newfound adrenaline and a smile plastered on his face, rolling his eyes for what wouldn’t be the final time that night at his bandmate’s antics.
As soon as he had made it behind his kit, he was scanning the crowded room, trying to locate the girl from last night. He watched the door throughout the performance, trying to see if she might have just come in a bit late. He held the hope she would somehow show up with him in his mind, but all to no avail.
The entire night, he couldn’t shake the thought of her lips from his mind, or the way the skin of her neck was so open and exposed, practically begging for him to attack it with his own lips. And with the way things were going thus far, he was sure that pretty face of her’s would be the death of him, he was certain, in fact.
“Find her?” Bri had questioned almost as soon as they had ended for the night, the lot of them now working on cleaning up.
“Nah. She never showed up.”
“I’m sorry, Rog. Maybe you’ll see her again soon, the campus isn’t that huge, you know.” Roger’s mouth formed a thin line as he raised his eyebrows, not convinced in the slightest that the situation proposed would occur.
“At this point I’m wondering if she’s even a bloody student here.” Roger grumbled, obviously no longer feeling the initial electric adrenaline of the night's performance.
Brian frowned, placing a sympathetic hand on his friend's shoulder and patting it once or twice before standing to go finish packing up.
It was later now, and the boys were finally leaving the bar, bidding their goodbyes to those around them. Roger walked out the front (in what Tim and Brian joked was a ‘moping manner’), hearing the bell jangle above his head, ringing annoyingly in his ear. The cold air hit him like an arctic breeze (or a ton of bricks, he wasn’t sure which description was more fitting). He shook his head and blinked a few times, as if that would rid his body of the frigid feeling. He sighed dramatically and pulled his corduroy jacket tighter around himself, watching as his breath made a small cloud in front of him.
“Roger?”
He turned, recognizing the voice immediately.
“Having a pity party, are you?” She giggled out, wrapping her arms around her middle.
“It’s only me, so no. Not a party.”
She “ahh”-d in understanding, her mouth forming into a sly grin. Her lips were a pale pink color that night, her eyes a bright blue shade. And similarly to the night previous, she was graced with only a brown fringed dress, her matching boots in one hand, a lit cigarette in the other.
“Then what would it be if I joined you?”
He stood in thought, tilting his head. “I think then, yeah, it would be a party.”
“Do you not get cold, ever?” He added after a beat of silence, observing her ill outfit choice for the frosty climate. She rolled her eyes, muttering out a brief “ha, ha.”
Roger couldn’t help but bite his lip, holding back a laugh.
“I do on occasion get a little bit chilly. But I like the feeling.”
He tilted his head, walking over to where she was leaning against the brick wall of the dive bar. He turned to face her, not that she noticed, putting his weight on the rough surface behind him.
“It makes me feel,” she hesitated, struggling to find the right word, although she felt it was right on the tip of her tongue.
“Alive?”
She finally met his eyes after what seemed like forever, softly nodding. To him, she looked like an angel in that moment, the street light so beautifully illuminating her locks like a halo around her. He reached a cautious hand forward, dragging it against her cheek, down to her bottom lip.
Her mind was screaming at her to leave while she still could, to somehow not fall in the mix of the infamous campus player that was Roger Taylor.
But her heart? Well, as cliche as it sounds, her heart was telling her to disregard any reasonable thoughts and just kiss the bastard, for God’s sake.
And if anyone knew Y/n Y/l/n, they knew that most times, she would listen to the latter mentioned, rather than the former. And so after several moments of unbearable silence, she decided she would. Catching on relatively fast, Roger took her flush against him, Y/n able to feel his breath fanning over her face.
She leaned forward with a small smile, placing her hands on either side of his face. Her eyes wandered to his plump and rosy lips, adrenaline pumping through her veins. But before she could make the final leap, so to say, Brian, of all people, called out her name in a confused nature, squinting, believing that it might have been his eyes deceiving him. The girl from his 9 a.m. lecture could not possibly be about to snog his bandmate.
Impossible.
Her eyes widened, head turning immediately when hearing her name fall from his lips.
“Brian, hey!”
“Wait, you two know each other?”
Ignoring Roger’s (panicked) question, Brian walked over, a look of amazement still prevalent in his features. She moved from Roger’s side over to Brian, giving him a side hug, Bri’s arm resting on her shoulders.
“I see you’ve met Y/n. She’s in my astronomy class.”
She smiled brightly as the neon signs lining the downtown district of bars and restaurants alike, meeting Brians gaze.
“Yup, got to love Dr. Martin’s lectures.” She chuckled, the tall man next to her doing the same.
Picking up on Roger’s absolutely bewildered appearance, still taking in the situation unfolding in front of him, Brian took the liberty of initiating another conversation.
“So, Y/n, did you see the show tonight?”
She frowned, crossing her arms.
“Wanted to, but no, got caught up in the library. I have my final for statistics on Thursday, or else I would have been there.” She locked eyes with Roger, giving him a soft smile. Suddenly changing her demeanor, she reached into her bag she always seemed to have with her, pulling out those cheap cigarettes and her Zippo. She lit one of the sticks, inhaling.
“In fact, I heard your drummer was incredible, so I thought I would try to see him in action tonight.” Her gaze never left Rogers as she conversed, her mouth pressed in a line, the rest of her face completely neutral.
“But you’ve seen us before Y/n, he’s been with the band for quite some time.”
“I mean, I wanted to see him with a fresh pair of eyes, a different perspective, I guess.”
Still mildly confused, Brain shook his head and muttered something like “Right, okay” to which Y/n softly smiled at before dropping the cigarette from her hand. Barefoot, she couldn’t reach down to step on it, have the sparks die out under her toes.
“Could one of you get that, please?”
Roger nodded immediately, his boot finding its way quickly, the toe of it making a circular motion. His eyes stayed on Y/n, as had hers before. And despite the bustling city around them, Hell, even despite Brian’s perplexed stare, it felt oddly intimate, as if they were locked onto each other’s view (not that they were complaining).
But they weren’t, as she proved mere seconds later, abruptly bidding them goodbye and heading the opposite direction.
The pair of boys watched her as she went, heads tilted and jaws dropped to where if their mothers were present, they would be scolded to “close their mouths before they catch flies in there!”.
“That’s her, you know.” Roger commented bluntly, slightly shaking his head and then popping his lip.
Brian took a moment, turning toward his friend, stuttering.
“As in, her, her? Y/n is mystery girl?” He laughed, shaking his head in disbelief. “Yeah, well, good luck with that, Rog.”
“Why would I need that, Brian?” He challenged, putting his hands on his hips, lifting his chin. Brain kept his assumed position, moving his hand to scratch at his neck.
‘Well, I’m sure if you hang out around her enough, you’ll find out.”
Rather than shouting out at him, asking him what the Hell he meant, as he really wanted to, Roger paid Bri no attention, not even giving him a second look before under his breath saying “I’ll see you later”, and in what Brian considered to be a quite shocking turn of events, bolting off in the direction Y/n had gone.
He ignored the shouts from Brian, ignored the judgmental stares and loud whispers of those who recognized him from the band. He no longer cared about keeping his ‘cool reputation’, not when she was so close.
“Is that Roger Taylor?”, “Oi, isn’t that the drummer from the band at the pub?”, “Hey, why’s he buggin’ out?” all flooded his ears, usually followed by what seemed to be snickering, making a desperate attempt to cloud his mind from his self-assigned mission. But it was no use, as he was set on catching up to her. In fact, she was so close he swore he could smell the mixed scent that was uniquely her, smoke and her perfume.
He hollered her name, God, he yelled it till his throat was hoarse, just ‘cause he could. He loved the way it rolled off his tongue, he loved the fact he even had learned it to begin with, and that alone was probably why he adored it so much.
She heard his cries, turning where she stood and tilting her head.
“Roger? What on Earth are you doing?”
He finally met her, bent over on his hands and knees, breath lost in totality. She placed a concerned hand on his sweaty head, combing through his chocolate locks. He would have shivered at the feeling, if he had the energy. Rather, he looked up with the goofiest smile she’d ever seen, resembling a golden retriever, or german shepherd perhaps, in human form.
‘D’you wanna go somewhere with me? Hang out a bit?”
She nodded, holding out a hand.
“Lead the way.”
-
“Mom and Dad want me to be some kind of a scientist, study the stars.”
“Yeah? And what do you think about that.”
She tilted her head, shifting her position.
“I’m not quite sure. I wouldn’t be against it, that I know. The stars are beautiful, but they aren’t where my heart lies, I guess.”
He turned to face her, their noses almost touching. She could feel his breath fanning over her face, and the proximity sent butterflies through her stomach.
“I want to be an actress.” She all but whispered, turning her attention back to the full night sky and the wonders that hung in it.
“An actress, huh?”
She only hummed a confirmation, moving her left hand to pick at the cool grass under her palms.
“I could see that. You, I mean, on the big screens.”
She turned, and Roger swore he had never seen anyone smile so big before in his life.
“Really?”
His own smile grew, and she nodded vigorously, the two of them beginning to laugh. He pulled her closer by her shoulders, unaware of where the conversation would lead.
“I’ll go to New York. You’ll see me on billboards in Times Square.”
“Well, that’s nice to know. I’ll just be a lone dentist somewhere, while you forget all about me, having lavish parties and such. Whatever it is that famous people do.” His voice was obviously joking, melodramatic was written all over him, yet Y/n couldn’t help but still feel a sliver of guilt.
She hit his arm, rolling back over to face him. She still had a smile glued onto her lips, both of their eyes crinkling at the edges.
“Oh, shut up, will you? Smile will make it big, and we’ll meet again, when you’re on tour. Or perhaps if I’m filming where you’re performing! We’ll have those nights to ourselves, It’ll be a secret rendezvous.”
She turned to her back again, finding his hand on the damp green, her heart beating a million miles a second as she reached for it, slowly entangling her fingers in his.
“The papers will write about us, Rog, when they find out. ‘Famous actress Y/n Y/l/n seen leaving a hotel with renowned drummer Roger Taylor’ is what the headlines will say. God, what a scene we’ll cause.” Her eyes were full of  excitement as she spoke, her heart feeling like it was so filled with glee that it could soar out of her chest.
“Well, I wanna know the specifics.” Roger sat up, pulling her up with him, she giggled, and the brunette wrapped a hand around her waist. She sat beside him, the streetlight by the backroad she had led them on illuminating her like a silhouette. She bit her lip and grinned, tilting her head up to better exam Rogers angelic features.
“Are you gonna have some bloke waiting for you at home, hmm? Waiting for you while you conquer the world, only for you to break his poor heart?”
“Nah.” Her answer was immediate, her eyes honest as she spoke. “Only a cactus. He’ll be my only friend. I hear it’s lonely in Hollywood, Roger.” He raised his eyebrows briefly at this, choosing his next words.
“You’ll have me?”
His head turned to look at her, admiring the way the pale moonlight illuminated her, the artificial light from the streetlamps not doing her neverending beauty and justice, in his opinion. Their eyes seemed sporadic, searching each other's faces for signs of what they were doing, possibly being wrong, but they found nothing, as expected.
The yearning had become all too much for the inspired pair, and it felt like at last, all they could do, the only thing they could do, was kiss.
So they did. Roger took her face in his hands, closing his beautiful eyes, his eyelashes barely brushing against hers. He leaned forward, joining them together, finding that they immediately moved in a perfect synchronization. They were like two sides of the same coin, and that seemed to be particularly evident in that moment. By the contrast of their lips, or perhaps the aspirations of their careers becoming somehow just a little bit clearer.
But it didn’t matter, none of it did. Not in the long run. So they pulled apart, chests heaving and faces painted with childish grins.
It was quiet then, only the crickets and the howling wind could be heard. But she liked it that way, preferred it, actually. So quiet, in fact, that Roger was able to fall fast asleep, Y/n lying comfortably in his arms. She stared at the stars, then back to his sleeping figure, her mind unable to come to a consensus on what on God's green Earth she was to do.
She settled for placing a kiss on his jaw, closing her eyes. His eyes only fluttered, never waking completely. She muttered something like “See you, rockstar.” against it, before standing up and walking away, only turning back once to see his sleeping form one more time.
That was the last time for 6 years that he would see Y/n Y/l/n. See her in person, at least.
When he woke up the next morning, he was confused to say the least, wondering why Y/n didn’t wake him, mostly wondering where she had even gone. He looked around himself, patting the green grass beneath him, as if she somehow was invisible and he had missed her upon initial glance. He had shouted for her, his throat still hurting from when he did the same thing only 12 hours previous.
He had felt out of control, like the one he had been chasing had just slipped through his fingers (which it had). He had remembered asking Bri, day after day, if he had seen her in class, even just seen her around in general. Everytime the answer was the same.
“No Roger”, “I’m sorry, Roger”, “Not today, Roger”. It was a horrible, predictable pattern, that he had enough of. He was supposed to recover from it quickly, bounce back from her almost immediately, as there was basically nothing to bounce back from.
But he couldn’t, and due to such reasons, he supposed he finally understood what Brian had said, or warned, that night before he had gone chasing after her. He got it, in his own sad way.
And over the years, she slowly faded to the back of the drummer's mind, behind groupies, and songs, and shows, and such, just for her to resurface again any time he saw her on a billboard, just as she had promised. But he never let it show, outwardly at least.
He had made Brian swear not to tell the others, never to breathe a word of it to Deaky or Fred. He was embarrassed by it, for some reason, and that’s why he guessed he forbade him from speaking of it. But how long can you keep a silly college secret from your nosy bandmates? Apparently 6 years, tops, for Roger Taylor.
“Alright, everyone. Gather ‘round, I’ve got a surprise.” Freddie had said, his grumbling bunch of friends tired from their day’s work. Though, they usually had grown to appreciate and look forward to Fred’s “surprises”, today everyone was just a tad bit too grumpy to try (a certain Roger Taylor in particular, let’s call it foreshadowing).
“Oh, stop your moaning and whining, please, I promise this will be good!” the eccentric frontman had said, something hidden behind his back in his left hand.
Rog ran a hand through his, now, blond hair, exhaling in such a way that made Freddie slant his eyes, before giving in and rolling them at his flippant behavior.
“What’s going on, Fred?” Brian had been the brave soul to ask, stepping forward and then looking away momentarily to place his guitar onto a stand waiting not so far away.
“I thought you’d never ask.” He replied, jumping down from his place on the risers, removing his hand from his back and holding out what seemed to be 4 tickets to something. He walked down the loosely formed line of men, putting one in each of their extended palms. Roger, at the end of their formation of sorts, became concerned when Brian had burst out laughing, looking to his right, being met with Roger’s face of confusion.
Freddie, possibly more confused than Roger, pressing the piece of thick paper into his hand, his gaze falling onto Brian, who now had tears in his eyes.
“Bri, what’s so… funny. Shit.” He had looked down to the slip, the only words he needed to read to know he was absolutely screwed, being “Jaws” and “Premiere”.
Now, anybody who knew anything, knew that Y/n Y/l/n was going to be in the film that was said to become the blockbuster of the summer, playing the role of Ellen Brody (though a few had said she was far too young for the job). She had been an overnight success in the film industry, gaining popularity from the 1973 film, ‘The Sting’, playing Billie.
And Roger had watched ‘The Sting’, and you can imagine his surprise when Y/n had sauntered onto screen, red lipped and fresh faced. (He had to admit, she looked great in a suit.)
After that, the assault on Roger’s fragile heart was never ending.
Billboards began to pop up even more frequently as she was to star in more films, and it seemed no matter where he was touring, he couldn’t escape her. Whether it was posters, her face printed on newspapers, adverts in about every place business was done for one of her films, he felt like he was being followed. He had even seen an article about her in a magazine, and when he had flipped the page he was greeted with Queen’s smiling faces.
He had stopped watching them after ‘American Graffiti’.
So, he figured that this one wouldn’t be any different, and he simply planned on ignoring said film until he caved, doing his best to avoid her on the silver screen and anywhere else, which hadn’t been too difficult until this point (not).
But this? This was a whole new level of being royally fucked.
“Brian, Rog, something you want to share with the rest of the class?” John had asked, cocking his head and propping his legs up on the coffee table in front of him. Brian began to speak, wrapping an arm around Roger’s shoulders, the shorter man looking up at him with angry fire burning in his eyes.
“Well, I’m honestly quite excited. The film industry has always seemed very intriguing, actually, and I’m looking forward to meeting new people. Rog?”
“No.”
“No?” John repeated, “No, what?” He waved a hand around, trying to understand what Roger’s problem was.
“I just- I don’t- I knew-”
“Roger had a fling with Y/n Y/l/n and she broke his heart.” Brain blurted out, Roger turning and immediately smacking him upside his curly head of hair. He regarded an “Ouch!” before him and the rest of the boys burst out laughing, the drummer not included in that demographic, fuming.
“Rog, darling, when was this? How did we not know?” Freddie managed to breathe out, sitting down next to Deaky on the studio sofa. He crossed his hands and ankles, his full attention turned towards Roger who really, really didn’t wanna have to do this, and who really, really was gonna get Brian back for this later. Would he untune all his guitars? Unplug his amp during rehearsals, perhaps put hair remover in his shampoo? But, that would have to wait until after he was forced to spill his 6 year secret.
“It was in 69-”
“69?!” Freddie had cried out. “It’s been 6 bloody years? And you didn’t think to tell us?”
“Well I didn’t really see a reason it would be necessary to tell you all! In fact, I probably wouldn’t have told you ever if this bloke didn’t have such a big mouth!”
“Hey, watch it.” Brian weighed in, crossing his arms and fluttering his eyes.
“Look, Roger I really don’t see the issue here. We go to the premiere, you just keep a low profile and ignore Y/n, problem solved.” John cut in, trying to be helpful.
Keyword: trying.
“And how exactly will I do that?”
“We will behave, I promise.” Freddie added, though Roger seemed to be having a difficult time believing him or his claim for the others. So Roger only scoffed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Yeah, I’m sure you will.”
-
Cameras were flashing brightly, reporters and such were shouting loudly, and Y/n was already exhausted.
Her red lips were painted like DeAngelo had done it himself, and her hair was styled just the way she liked. The heels she was wearing per request of her stylist, though, were horrible. They looked lovely, yes, but they were digging into her poor ankles, and she still had to wear them for who knew how long. She didn’t complain, though, she wouldn’t dream of it.
She would just continue her slow walk down the carpet, a sultry smile on her face. The black fabric of the gown she was wearing fit her beautifully, snug in all the right places.
She sure hoped it was, at least. Especially because she knew that he would be there.
Roger Taylor, the blessed drummer that managed to make a home in the backburner of her mind, his success coming as no surprise to the actress. She had loved every one of their records, and rather than running from his work like Roger had, she opted for going straight to the record shop, purchasing any and every Queen album in her sight. When she had checked out, the very shocked cashier had made some remark, asking something about “you a fan?”
She had thought about it for a moment, thinking back to all those years ago when Roger had asked the same thing. She smiled, shrugging.
“Yeah, you could say that.”
So when she had worked up the courage to invite the entire band to the premiere (on behalf of Spielberg, of course) she was a nervous wreck to find out they had accepted. Really, ask anyone who had any contact with her in the time from then to the premiere, they could testify that her moodiness had risen like a hot air balloon.
Now, though, she was kind of regretting that she had invited them, looking over to the sharp looking bunch, all dressed to the nines. She scanned her eyes over them, catching a wave from Brian, which she gladly returned with an enthusiastic smile. Bri then tapped Roger on the shoulder to alert him of Y/n’s acknowledgment, which resulted in Y/n’s eyes widening to the size of moons.
She turned her head, and worked to finish up her walk of the carpet just a tad bit faster. It all seemed to be for nothing, though, as in the dark of the theater for the premiere itself, she saw the seat next to her be filled, a presence filling her senses.
“Miss me?”
-
Their hands were all over each other, not truly caring if the tabloids caught a glimpse, just needing to make up for lost time.
They had stumbled into the golden hotel both her and Queen were staying in, the swinging doors of the New York establishment blowing a cool gust of wind in their direction.
They merely laughed at the minor interruption, their teeth clashing as they both smiled momentarily. It was soon forgotten, though, both of them having much more pressing matters in their minds.
They only came to a cease in the elevator, some old couple who most definitely did not care about whatever pressing issue the two of them felt they had, standing off to the side. (Y/n could swear she saw the older woman smirk and wink at her, to which she cocked her head and smiled.)
Once back into the safe confines of Y/n’s suite, they resumed like they had never even stopped, hands gravitating towards the others form as if they were opposite magnets, unable to be separated for too long.
“You’ve driven me crazy, you know that, right? “
She giggled and bit her lip, looking up into his eyes, their foreheads pressed together.
“Mmm? I’d hope so.”
He pulled away, shaking his head, blond locks following suit.
“Really, you have no idea. I haven’t been able to shake you from my head. You’re everywhere.”
Her excitement could barely be contained at his confession of sorts, chest heaving, trying to stay calm.
“Yeah, that was the plan.”
Roger shook his head with a dry chuckle, looking to his feet and back to her when she had tilted his head up, her finger resting on his jaw.
“Well, are you into it?” She questioned, grabbing his hand and pulling their clasped fingers in between their chests, her eyes hazy with hope.
“Yeah.” He titled his head, feigning a pondering look. “You could say I’m kinda into it.”
“Shut it!”
“Make me.”
She rolled her eyes at his stupidly provocative suggestion, and he only laughed, the two of them falling onto the plush comfort of the bed in a meshed flurry for the remainder of the night.
And if you couldn’t guess what could have possibly happened next, the black dress ended up in a pooled up pile next to the bed that night, right next to the heels that finally she had the pleasure of discarding.
The next morning, it was unlike the one 6 years ago, as when Roger woke up, he was overjoyed to find a sleeping Y/n, laying on his chest with hair splayed around her. And he had to say, he usually wasn’t much of a cuddler, but for some reason he felt so incredibly endeared, that anything else wouldn’t have sufficed.
He ran small circles on the exposed skin of her bare shoulder, the comforter concealing the rest of her limbs that were tangled up with Roger’s.
When she stirred, Roger sat up, fondly watching as her eyes fluttered open and her tongue ran across her dried lips, still carrying a hint of last night's red pigment. She looked next to her, her eyeline matching up with the covered skin of Roger’s lap.
She sighed, shifting her head to rest on his thighs as her feet dangled off of the bed. One of Roger’s hands came up to softly massage the top of her head, the other against the headboard, behind his neck. She stared at the ceiling, an unreadable expression creeping its way to her features.
“We were jacked up last night.” Roger’s voice cut through the silence they shared, deeper in the late morning than she had heard before.
“Correction, you were jacked up.”
“Whatever.”
They laughed, silence soon taking over once again. Roger sighed, closing his ever tired eyes.
“Are we gonna pay for this?”
She scoffed, inhaling deeply before reaching over to the nightstand, grabbing her carton of cigarettes. He noticed they were the same brand from college, a small smile making its way to his face at the thought.
She first lit hers, then lighting a second one for the man occupying her king sized bed (though she wasn’t even slightly upset by this, quite the opposite). She handed it to him, sticking her own between her lips and sitting up, straddling where her head had been minutes before.
She leaned forward, so close their noses were to the point where they were nearly touching. She took the cigarette from her lips, blowing the smoke to the left of Rog in the direction of the large balcony overlooking Times Square. She turned her attention back to him, though it had never really left, tilting her head.
“Do you regret it?”
“No.” The answer came immediately, no careful consideration or pondering needed.
“Right.” She removed herself from him, standing and taking the sheet with her, letting it cover her like a renaissance dress. She walked over to the balcony, leaning against the frame of the double doors. She took another drag, an adoring smile spreading across her face.
“Then there’s your answer.”
She paused, Roger tilted his head, his brows lifting.
“Of course we will.”

Unpredictable (Overhaul x Reader) pt.4
a/n: I love Gei here xD do ya’ll love Gei? I hope you guys love his extra ass <3
warnings: this cannot be read solo, cursing(?), subtle flirting
Links: part 1, part 2, part 3, part 5
Masterlist to my other fics: here :)
Overhaul’s waiting list: @jjk-biased @infinite-universe-love
Tumblr media
Taking your planner from your bag, you jotted down a reminder to dig up some old case files regarding the 3 villains Tsukauchi had just mentioned. Everything seemed clearer now as to why Overhaul managed to snag an invite. He was one of them no matter what his ideals were.
Forking the last bit of cheesecake, you stuffed your planner back into your bag and exited the shop. Scanning the area for any black cars, you were relieved that no one had been tailing you. There was a rising suspicion that Overhaul stalked you but perhaps it was simply chance. You couldn’t blame him though, you were usually buried under stacks of documents at this time of day.
Walking towards your first stop, you had to interview a witness by the convenience store. One of the cases you were working on involved arson. At first glance, you ruled it out to be some villain’s nasty prank. The more you dived into the case, you realized this was organized.
“So you recall seeing a person with black hair across the street?” You questioned the cashier while eyeing some chocolate bars. “Do you remember what he wore or an estimate of his height?”
“I can’t really picture his height but I do remember him wearing  a dark blue jacket with a high collar.” Peering at the glass doors, the witness tried to think back on the events that had happened. It had been a week since the incident but the fear was still there. “He just stared at the store for a couple of minutes, I remember. After that, he turned to that corner over there. Moments later, the explosion happened.”
“Hmm…” You mentally took down notes. Nothing much to take from that statement. “Well, thank you for your time and if you see something please don’t hesitate to call.”
Handing him your business card, you exited the store and crossed the street. Heading towards the corner mentioned, you scanned for any possible belongings left behind or a tell tale sign the initial investigators failed to see. Nope. Empty-handed.
Making your way back to the precinct, you felt a vibration in your pocket. Taking your phone out, you stopped walking and you blinked yourself back to reality.
You: Thanks for the cheesecake. Not gonna work.
Overhaul(?): Bold of you to assume I was after something.
Would it be logical to reply to his message? Moving aside to let people walk, your thumb tapped the locked screen. Generally speaking, there would be nothing wrong if you answered back. Communication was key, afterall. And, to top it off, he was basically your partner for this mission. Maybe some playful banter here and there wouldn’t hurt. That’s all you’ve been doing, anyway.
Chewing on your lower lip, you scowled and put your phone back into your pocket. Tsukauchi was right. His charm was strong. Either that or you're just paranoid of being kidnapped by one of the strongest men in the yakuza. Yet, a part of you wanted to know if he was waiting for your response. Probably not. Facing your gray cubicle once again, you rummaged through the metal file bin and pulled out a rather thick manila envelope. Closing the drawer with your foot, you tossed the envelope to your desk and began to search for what you needed.
The first document you found was of Nokusu. Looking at his quirk information, you took into account his ability to bend and manipulate shadows. The small footnote indicated that light played no weakness to his quirk. He wasn’t that up there in terms of ranking but he knew his cards well enough.
Setting it aside, the next file you picked up was of Tamisura. Ahh. You remember her all too well. Still an intern at the time, it was still clear as day the way the chief of police came with a rather huge gash on his chest. Healing him took 4 days and the only thing he mentioned was a name. Tamisura.
There was no detail about her quirk. Flipping a few more pages, the chief’s statement was all you had.
‘It seems as if her quirk gives her momentum. Stopping her movements was impossible.’ That’s what it stated. With the number of quirks present, it was a little too vague for your liking. Oh well. You had an idea and you could pull some straws with that. Stacking it on top of Nokosu’s file, you found the last of the three.
Akuji. Holder of one the most annoying quirks to deal with. Telepathy. Everyone is an open book when it comes to his mind.
Ransacking the files, you let out a loud and long groan. To your amazing luck, their profiles all had masks covering their faces. No stranger to this turn of events, you thought about contacting your confidants about possible information regarding these people but even you didn’t want to risk their safety. Villain or not. It became a habit of yours to make sure the favors you ask for are worth it.
Resting your chin on your palm, you reached for your phone and unlocked it. The first thing you see was the exchange you and birdman had. Checking at Tsukauchi’s desk, you found him hunched and busy encoding his cases. Eyes back on the screen, you decided to send a little message.
You: Busy?
Overhaul(?): Are you after something now?
You: I hate you. But, yes.
Overhaul(?): No.
What were you even expecting? Amused with the little exchange, you stretched your joints and packed your stuff. The profiles of the three villains now tucked into your bag. With only 15 minutes left before your shift ends, you took the liberty of scrolling the internet for dresses. Told to dress appropriately for the gala, you would have to comply.
There was no theme indicated but you were sure to go there with a black ensemble. That color was the safest and it was also the easiest to pick from. Getting a faint picture as to what you wanted to buy, you peaked at the wall clock and immediately turned your desktop off.
"Before you leave," Tsukauchi piped up. Peaking at you from his cubicle. "Chief wants to talk to you."
Nodding at his message you went up the stairs and hummed towards the chief's office. He'd probably want updates. He always did have a knack for annoying you. The mission barely started and he's already pinning you to the corner. Knocking on his door, you heard the permission to enter.
Now seated on the guest sofa, you gave him a respectful bow. As did he. Telling you to sit down, you obeyed.
"I request a little update of the mission." He began. The not so subtle exhale from your nostril only proved how obvious he could be at times. "How's working with Overhaul?"
"The status of the mission only has one movement. The upcoming gala has a few villains joining as well." You reported. "I'm not so familiar with how the yakuza works in big events like this, though. So, I took...no. I decided to join the event with him as my plus one."
"Smart choice." He nodded at the developments. "Has he taken his mask off?"
Snickering at the question, you shook your head.
"Take that as a side quest of yours." He instructed. "We need an update on his profile. We're still empty as to what he looks like without that mask. Gain his trust. Just enough for him to show you his face."
Great. Your personal mission just evolved into official business. Accepting the task, you pushed it aside and would rather let things take its course naturally. Overhaul was something else and there was no way you would rush things. Especially if it meant him showing something personal. You were keeping your word. One purpose and one purpose only.
Conveying what he needed to, he dismissed you and you were more than excited to get the hell out of his suffocating office.
Take out. That's what you needed to unwind.
Now that you were walking down the street, establishments began to light up the path. Neon signs heavily contrasting the orange and pink skies. With the mall coming to view, you decided now would be a good time to look for an outfit. And, mostly because shopping calmed your nerves each time you had the talk with the chief.
The air condition was heaven. Heading to the area where dresses were sold, you went inside the first store you saw.
The dresses were nice but came with a high price. Though thanks to your dad, your shopping needs were never a problem. Keeping yourself glued to the ground was always simple. With the job you had, the temptation of impulsive buying always flushed down the drain. Instead, the money put under your name went into aiding your missions and a few under the table deals here and there.
Seeing a dress you liked, you decided to try it on.
Inside the plush fitting room, you stared at your reflection. This brand always did good at flaunting the curves you had. The amount of running and training you did paid off. The dress was backless save for a small but secure bow resting on your nape. The lace mesh wrapped your arms delicately and the bead work was intricate. He would like this.
"Whot?" You thought out loud. Scratching your nape, your vision trailed towards  your face in the reflection. Your cheeks were a little pink and once again your heart rate was a little quicker than normal. “Lack of sleep. Caffeine overdose. Yes.”
Deciding to buy the said dress, you were accompanied to the counter by the clerk. As they were preparing the box and paper bag, you scanned a few trinkets inside locked glass boxes. Most of them jewelry for women and studs for men. They did look nice but you weren’t a big fan of diamonds.
One did capture your attention. Moving closer to it, you saw a shiny gold pair of cufflinks. Upon closer inspection, you saw how the small jewelry had what looked to be a crow. It was small but distinguishable if you knew your birds. Checking the tag, it wasn’t all that expensive. Y20,000.
Okay, maybe it was a little expensive but it looked hella worth it.
“Here’s your dress, miss~” The clerk snapped you out of your thoughts. The smile she used on all customers showing on her face. Her cherry red lips popped due to her pale skin. Accepting the bag, you glanced one more time at the tiny trinket. She seemed to catch up quickly. “Those are limited edition Bivenchy cufflinks. Would you like to see them?”
“Uh, w-” You let out a defeated sigh and agreed to look at the cufflinks.
An hour later, you were now back in the comfort of your apartment. The big paper bag with your dress now laid flat on your coffee table. Beside it, a smaller box with the brand’s name displayed in the center. Sending death glares to the impulsively bought item, you took out the contents and flopped onto your sofa.
Flipping the lid open, inside were the same cufflinks. They seemed to shine even more with the lights your unit had. Cursing yourself, you hadn’t put into consideration that a guy like Overhaul would probably have this item already. Or, something even more expensive knowing him. Closing the box, you placed it on the table and did what you had to do for the rest of the night.
Now that you were ready for bed, you scrolled down to Gei’s contact and called him.
“Hellooo my sweet quiet friend.” He greeted. The faint sound of television could be heard in the background. “What can I do for thee?”
“Hair and make up in two days, is that alright?” You asked shyly. When it came to underground thugs or villains, you were hella confident in asking for favors or settling deals. But when it came to Gei, you were like a child in her first day of school.
“Wanna look good for yo man, I presume?” He teased. For sure, his right eyebrow was cocked high by now.
“I wanna look good for the people in the gala.” You defended yourself. Twirling a few strands of your hair, you let out a yawn. “And, I don’t trust myself with makeup.”
“What time will he be pickin you up, booboo?”
“6. So, you can drop in at 4.”
“Copy on that.” He agreed. “OH OH OH. Did you buy a dress? Please tell me you’re not wearing that monstrous thing from 2 years ago. Honey, that color made me want to puke.”
Cringing at the memory of that vile yellow and purple dress, you THOUGHT you looked good in.
“I went shopping. Don’t worry.”
“What brand?”
“Auscer de la Venta…”
“YAS BEECH! WIG SUH-NATCHED!” He screeched through the line. “I swear to Queen Todrick, if his jaw ain’t gonn drop, imma whoop. His. Ass. even if it kills me. Oooh~ You think he’ll take his mask off?”
“Probably not. I doubt he’d even eat anything at the gala.” There it was again. The second person to wonder about what he was hiding underneath. There was the idea that he hid his face so he could get away if things didn’t turn out. But you recalled his explanation that he hates the air around him. “He hates dust so taking the mask off would probably be the last thing he would ever do.”
“Oh my lords.” Gei breathed out. “If he disappears when the food comes, I bet my money he’ll be eating in the men’s toilet.”
Okay. That made you laugh. Hopefully, you wouldn’t picture that scenario when he comes pick you up.
Gossiping for a few more minutes, your energy levels were now gone. Saying farewell to your friend, the moment you closed your eyes, you immediately fell asleep.

Your movies hail from comic books would you not think to have nicer movie posters ?? like I’m so sick of just a bunch of fucking faces I’m.. Like ffs ...also Thor is better than Loki bye

Happy valentine day aka both the lovey dovey holiday and our bday bpy himself, I saw your gifset and 100/10!! Amazing work, please frame that gifset in a museum pronto!! It sounds like your valentine's day was fun ^_^
But yes I am from Chicago haha, it doesn't seem fancy to me being in Chicago with how expensive downtown can be at times (but then again, when is downtown in ANY big city not expensive?) But it is a lovely place nonetheless, granted don't come now because its cold like the northpole xD but very much recommended the spring time personally! I do hope you have the chance to come to Chicago when things calm down
Ooohh same lol, I can do my nails like a pro but eyeliner ??? I struggle lol. I watched videos on tips but I still can't figure how to not stop my hand from shaking =/ (if any of your followers know a trick do share! Help this noob anon out, i will pay with cookies!) I can do it decent line but its always thick for some odd reason lol. It starts off good in the beginning with a nice thin line but then I go full raccoon mode xD I have big eyes as well so technically not good for my eye shape but it is what it is haha. I do prefer pencil since its easier but I do enjoy the liquid eyeliner look. My current makeup look is eyeliner, mascara and some lip product. I do eyeshadow if I want to be fancy haha but for sure need to look into getting some better products. The ones I do have my eye on are nyx because we love a good mix of free of animal products and cheap, bare minerals is nice as well as well as color pop! For the pricier end fenty and rare beauty are on my list (especially rare omg the lipstick shades are so, so pretty! Especially the color you mentioned ^0^) but ooh we love pinks and orange shades! We love the soft, spring romantic vibes! For me. I like a bit of everything but i do find myself leaning into red, pink, orange shades with a mix of dark tones like a dark wine shade or even black djaksja. My favorite lippie i own is this beautiful orange/brown color? Idk if that is the right way to describe it but it is a pretty color! Jdkandks @ that large lipstick collection, respect haha. I enjoy the old school lip gloss look because i like pretending to feel like an Bratz doll lol.. bb creams are good and I may go with one in the future since it seems a good product to use if you don't want to dive into foundation and such c:
Now skin care wise, I agree! Not all pricey products are better. You can find good products for half the price that works for your skin! It is a trail and error sadly but eventually you will find something that works best for you c: and ooohh i think i have heard of those brands! I'll look at them later to see what they have so thank you for the suggestion!! Lol maybe that's a good thing the brand isn't around where you live xD but true, it is best to not continue with using the products so I will sadly throw them away. I feel bad since I did spend money but if it isn't doing me good skin wise well why ruin my skin more? Garnier is great for sure! I love their micellar water so I may invest in some of their other products! When I will do that, not sure because my parents are a bit strict when it comes to makeup/skin care stuff *sigh*
Oof I do feel like there have been alot of romance plots so we do need a break with some other plot ideas like a good mystery drama for example like let me feel like Sherlock when watching the episodes haha. But ahh it be like that xD sometimes you start off watching a video or two and then you are spending half the night watching funny edits of nct lol and idk how he can be calm like jaehyun is so calm in the most chaotic moments. Like he didn't even flinch when the boxes exploded in nct world!! Teach us your calm ways jaehyun. But I do love his dad ways from the humor he has or his dad sneeze (I will admit some fans do take the "jaehyun dad" narrative a bit too far sometimes or maybe its just me? Thoughts love?)
Oof until april!? Oh no D: I hope the numbers slow down during then, sending good vibes to your family as well during these times! You also stay safe! As for me, yeah just have been staying inside. Not much to do sadly but I'm being well fed with kpop so not complaining haha
Hey hey! How was your week/days so far since Valentines?
Well I had a lot to do and I was mainly busy with work (once again). I am remodelling/redecorating my room as well and I still have lots of plans on it, let’s see how the things end up because I will do it all alone (wish me luck).
Happy you loved that set and I hope you will anticipate my Ten set as well (it’s a secret, not secret anymore but I still haven’t started with it yet I have lots of notes and ideas saved, I just need the courage and time for it).
Oh yeah I knew it hehe as far as I know Chicago looks very modern and seems a bit luxurious, indeed should be a bit expensive in the downtown, but even in my country, downtown is something I usually avoid for hanging out because it’s super super pricy.
I came across a few fun videos on tiktok and there was a girl doing her eyeliner in one go, like less that 1 second and I was like?? she’s not from this world. I had the chance to try my new bb cream and corrector from nyx and so far I love it, it doesn’t feel heavy or itchy on my skin, also knowing it’s cruelty free, it’s something that stands on my top buy makeup brand list. I used to love lipgloss when I was a child/teen, but not anymore, I wear my hair down and if go out. Forget about it, especially since I live in a windy area. And now with masks I can only wear a no-transfer lipstick or simply lip balm. A brand I think I will try soon will be Cerave, I heard only good things about it and Wayv also promoted it in the past. At that time the brand wasn’t available in my country, now it become quite popular and if the lockdown ends next month, I’ll go to a pharmacy to test the products and (hopefully) buy some.
As for my drama experience, I started to watch Vincenzo since it’s on Netflix it’s much easier to watch but I didn’t expect the whole comedy twist, I thought that drama was based on a dark-crime-mafia plot, yet I was once again fooled by the trailers. Anyway he looks sooo good for his age, I thought he was in his twenties, just wow! We’re a decade apart, and man! he looks so young, maybe even younger, insane! I should drink more ginseng tea for infinite youth haha Anyway the drama is a stay because I love him so much, he is a very talented actor and hopefully the plot will change as the history will go on.
About Jaehyun and that dad narrative, well yes. Things go out of hand for everyone else not only for him, especially in cases when these words are shoved right into their faces, I would never dare to comment anything like that under their social media or even on personal-interactions, it just seems uncomfortable on many levels. If someone looks hot and sexy, this is what he is and this is what we call them for, magazines and articles describe idols a lot these days with these words and that is ok because it means they have an attractive image that everyone wishes to have or achieve, yes I do get jealous sometimes even if they are men so 😂 but those type of whatever role-playing words, no, niet, nein, no, non. Out of question.
Meanwhile a few comebacks happened and I was excited for it, Shinee’s title song is sooo good and I love the savage lyrics. The rest of the album is also amazing, I have like 3 top favorites. Now I am waiting for Wayv comeback that will happen soon, hope SM won’t disappoint with another low-budget MV, I know we are in a pandemic situation rn but even inside the box, a MV can look stunning. SM take notes from “Make a Wish”, that was simply beautiful and almost everything was shot indoor, stunning effects I want to see again.
And I don’t think I had the chance to ask you, how did you like 127′s Japanese album? I love all the songs and there is non I skip when I play the whole album. I love how different hits from their Korean albums, there is something alluring about it, well the lyrics also suggest that so- I couldn’t miss that huge album that looks like an A3 portfolio so I already ordered one, hopefully by the end of the March I’ll get my hands on it, I can’t wait because the pictures are simply stunning!
Hope so far you have been fine, stay healthy and take care of yourself, and hope to hear from you back soon ❤️

| Sonic Chaos | Chapter One : Eggman Blows Up His Own Ship
( A/N:  This is REVISED FROM THE ORIGINAL!!! Thank you all for being patient while I revised parts of the story! I love you all!! Also, thank you @lightningstar1389 for illustrating this chapter! )
                                                ~Chapter One~
It was a warm summer evening where Sonic The Hedgehog and his best friend, Tails, decided to rest for the day. Lounging lazily in their beach chairs, they watched the sun set peacefully in the distance. The powerful duo had recently been on back to back adventures for the last few months; saving an entire race of aliens, fixing space and time, and almost accidentally draining the entire planet of its life force can be quite exhausting.
Sonic took a moment to focus on the silence around him. He closed his eyes and took a deep, slow breath. He wanted to hear nothing but the calm noise of the waves crashing onto shore and the distant call of seagulls on the horizon. The sound of the beach had always calmed him down, despite his irrational fear of the ocean.
“This is nice.” he said calmly.
“Yeah, it really is. I wish we could do this more often.”
Sonic looked over at his best friend and nodded his head in agreement.
Tails grinned and looked up. He took in all of the soft pinks, oranges, and reds that tinted the sky above him. The few stars that were appearing from behind the clouds twinkled like tiny diamonds. He thought for a moment, for the pink reminded him of somebody. He looked out towards the ocean with a curious look on his face.
“I wonder what Amy’s up to.” he said.
Sonic raised an eyebrow and sat up. “Amy?”
“Yeah. We haven’t seen her in a few weeks.” said Tails, shrugging his shoulders. Sonic stared at Tails for a moment, then sighed. He scratched his head in thought. Although he didn’t say it aloud, he himself also wondered about the whereabouts of his friend. Since he and Tails left the Lost Hex, Amy has been slightly distant and quite sick. Perhaps it may just be side effects of having the life drained out of her, but Sonic was still concerned.
Sonic lied down for a few more minutes to soak up the moment, then stood up to stretch his legs. Tails noticed this, and tilted his head to the side, watching him curiously.
“What are you doing?” Tails asked.
“Ehh, I think I’m gonna head out for a run before it gets dark,“ Sonic replied, bouncing on his toes. Tails smirked.
"What for?”
“Just ‘cos. ”
Tails chuckled to himself.
“Tell Amy I said hi.”
Sonic turned to him, he half-jokingly rolled his eyes and shook his head before running off. Tails watched with a cheeky smile on his face as his best friend disappeared over the horizon. Once he was out of sights, the fox lied back down for a well-deserved nap.
On the other side of town, in a small, cozy apartment, Amy Rose had just finished pulling a tray of freshly cooked chocolate chip cookies out of the oven. She quickly pulled away after setting them on the counter, shaking her hands to cool them off after touching the hot cookie tray. She leaned forward and took in their sweet scent. They were perfect.
“Mmm!” she said, taking a cookie and pulling it apart.
“Cream! The cookies are ready!” she yelled, taking a bite of one-half of her treat. It wasn’t long before she heard tiny footsteps quickly approaching her. Cream came skipping into the kitchen, joined by her Chao, Cheese. Amy smiled and passed the cookies to them.
“Thank you, Amy! They smell delicious!” said Cream, staring hungrily at the cookies on the counter. After telling the two little ones to wait for the cookies to cool, Amy heard a knock on her door.
She wiped her hands to rid of any crumbs stuck to her gloves and scurried over to open the door. She was greeted with Sonic standing awkwardly in the door frame. He was swaying back and forth, and staring at his feet. “Sonic?! Oh my gosh! What are you doing here?" Amy exclaimed, thrusting herself on him. Sonic awkwardly smiled and lightly patted her back.
"Well, I-uh…just wanted to stop by and-” Sonic paused and sniffed the air. His nostrils were filled with the most delicious smell of sugary goodness.
“Are those cookies?” he asked curiously. Amy pulled away from him and nodded her head.
“Mhm! Do you want some?” she asked cutely. Before she could get an answer out of him, Sonic was already standing by the kitchen counter, loading cookies into his hands. Amy giggled and walked towards him. She was always amused by his huge appetite. Leaning on the other side of the counter, she gave him a curious look.
Sonic tossed a cookie into his mouth and almost immediately spit it out. He chewed really quickly and fanned his mouth in pain.
“Ahh!” he cried.
“Watch out, they’re hot!” Amy said.
“So, why did you come? Did you miss my hugs?” she bounced her brows in a playful manner. Sonic rolled his eyes and shoved another cookie in his mouth.
“Not exactly, Tails and I just wanted to check up on ya. You’ve been looking a little sick since the whole Lost Hex incident.”
“Oh? I’m fine, now. Thank you! I did get a little sick, but I got my strength back.”
“You sure? Nothing wrong?”
“Nope! Fit as a fiddle!”
Sonic nodded his head and marched towards the front door.
“Ah, well my time here is done, then. See ya!” Amy felt a sting in her heart. He’s leaving already? After two weeks of not seeing her at all? No, not on her watch. Amy quickly dashed over and blocked his path. She frowned, giving him a puppy-dog look.
“Awww, can’t you stay a little longer? I haven’t seen you in a long time! I missed you.” she said, batting her eyes. Sonic raised a brow and looked away. He hated when she gave him that look, it was too powerful, even for someone as strong-willed as him.
“Uh…not really, I kinda left Tails on his own, so…I should probably get back to him,” he replied, reaching for the door. Amy pushed him back a little, trying to stall and have a few more seconds with him.
“Wait! How about we go on a date tomorrow?” she asked suddenly.
“..A date?” Sonic looked uneasy as he stuffed another cookie in his mouth.
“Yeah! We could go on a picnic or something. I just wanna spend time with you, is all.”
“Amy, I dunno, I just wanted to take a break from-”
“I’ll cook.”
Sonic’s eyes immediately locked onto hers. He shut his mouth and chewed. Amy grinned, knowing that he was finally considering her offer. She decided to go in for the kill while he was still vulnerable.
“I’ll make chili dogs, too.” she smirked.
Sonic pressed his lips into a thin line and gave her a ‘you got me’ kind of look, and to pass up such an offer would be unthinkable for a chili dog lover like himself. But, is a date with Amy really worth it? Sonic looked at the ground and considered the question.
It wasn’t long until Sonic ultimately agreed to the date, but he swears that he’s only going for the food and to hang out, and definitely not for romantic purposes. But, Amy did not care, she was just happy that she can spend some time with him again. As soon as Sonic shut the door, Amy swooned and celebrated to herself. Her cheeks went hot, as they usually do after she has an encounter with her crush.
~~~
The next morning, Amy made sure Sonic wouldn’t forget their date that day; he’s prone to doing so. She sent him a message as soon as she woke up, and reminded Tails to tell him about it. Amy skipped towards her dressing table and started to primp herself up for their upcoming picnic. After all, she had to make a good impression just in case Sonic may want to go on another date sometime!
Humming to herself, she opened a drawer and pulled out a bottle of perfume. “Sonic and Amy, sitting in a tree, mmhmhmhmhmh!” she giggled, spraying a cloud of scented mist into the air and gliding through it. After she finished getting ready, she packed her picnic basket with her essentials. She knew a day with Sonic was just asking for trouble, so she packed a few extra items as a precaution. “Alright, I have the food, a blanket, some mint spray for…just in case!!” she blushed madly, imagining the happiness she would feel if Sonic finally decided to give her a big ol’ smooch.
“Eeep! Okay, Amy..focus! So…first aid kit, check, um…well, I guess the fire extinguisher isn’t that necessary..” she concluded. While gathering some last minute things, she heard a knock on her front door. She glanced at the clock on her wall. “It’s three already?! Oh gosh, it’s him!” she gasped, hastily grabbing her picnic basket and rushing to the front door.
Before her hand reached the knob, she paused to compose herself, and then excitedly swung the front door open. Sonic stood on her doorstep, casually looking around. “Er…hey! Told ya I wouldn’t forget!” he said with a smile. Amy beamed at the sight of Sonic’s face. There was just something about it that brought her so much joy. Maybe it was the charming, yet cocky expression he always had, or the spark of excitement he showed in his eyes. Either way, she couldn’t get enough of it.
“Erm, you ready?” he said. Amy skipped past him and beckoned him over to the sidewalk.
“Yep!”
~~~
“We can go dine at a nice fancy restaurant and after that, we can dance the night away in a secluded gazebo all on our own! OOOH AND THEN-”
“And then you can keep on dreaming cause we’re only going out to have lunch..” Sonic remarked, shaking his head. Amy puffed her cheeks out and rolled her eyes. “Oh, you’re no fun..”
Sonic and Amy soon strolled over to their destination, the local park. As they walked through the entrance, Amy let go of Sonic’s hand and locked arms with him. She had a look on her face that was prideful. Sonic, on the other hand, looked a little uncomfortable. She was so weird sometimes.
The weather was bright and sunny, and it seemed like everyone in the whole city was there. Many families laughed and played while the sun was still shining. The grass was a vibrant green and it swayed gently in the wind. The park rather large as well, large enough for everybody to have their own personal spot.
Sonic and Amy settled under a large oak tree in the middle of a field, secluded from most people. Amy set down her picnic basket and pulled out a cute baby blue blanket. She set it on the ground and flattened out any wrinkles before inviting Sonic to sit down. From her picnic basket, Amy pulled out two entire meals, drinks, candy, and even a small dessert. Sonic was a bit taken aback by the amount of food she had. He felt sick just by looking at it.
“Uh…well, you definitely prepared for today, huh?” he said.
Amy’s face went florid as she looked down at all of the items she brought. “Well…I just, ya know, wanted to be prepared! Want a chili dog?” she said, offering Sonic a steaming tupperware. Sonic stared at the juicy chili dog with a quivering lip. Slowly, he took the tupperware and popped the lid open. He was greeted with the most amazing scent of chili and beans.
“Oohhhh yeah, now we’re talking!” he smirked, ready to swallow the thing whole. Amy giggled, if there was one way to win Sonic’s heart, it was through his stomach! She scooted a little closer to him and lovingly batted her eyes to get his attention. Sonic eyed her closely, pulling the chili dog towards him. “Yes?”
Amy shrugged her shoulders. “Nothing, I’m just really glad you took me out today,” she said. Sonic took a huge bite of his food and playfully shrugged his shoulders. “Welcome!” he said.
“Sonic, don’t speak with your mouth full..”
“Sowry. Hehe…” he gulped,
“Anyway, it’s no problem, Amy. This is kinda nice,” he admitted.
As Sonic munched away at the pile of snacks, Amy took the time to take in her surroundings. She looked around, smiling as a group of children ran past her while playing a game of tag. She took a deep breath of the fresh air and closed her eyes. That day was such a beautiful day, and it seemed as if nothing could go wrong. It was perfect, and she was at peace.
Sonic caught a glimpse of her pleasant expression out of the corner of his eye. He faintly smiled at her, happy to see the rare instance of her being her true self and not the over-the-top lovesick Amy he’s used to seeing. He always wished he could see that side of her more often, and even he could admit to himself that he’d be much more open to being closer to her if she calmed down.
He dug inside the picnic basket and pulled out another chili dog.
“You hungry?” he asked.
Amy turned to him and smirked.
“No thank you, I’m waiting for our romantic dinner, later!” she said. Sonic gave Amy a slightly annoyed look in response. He sighed and put it away. A few minutes passed by with some light chit-chatting between the two, and eventually, they ran out of things to talk about. Sonic had the idea to go for a quick jog around the park, but Amy was not exactly up for exercise.
Sonic shrugged his shoulders and stood up to stretch. He looked towards the large field before them, noticing some pink and blue flower patches beginning to bloom. He smiled, and suddenly dashed away, startling Amy. She brushed her tangled quills out of her face and stared in confusion as Sonic ran towards the middle of the field, taking the flowers in his hands and gathering them into a cute little bouquet. She scratched her head, laughing as she noticed children trying to race him on his way back to her.
Then, out of nowhere, a giant shadow was cast over the entire park. Sonic, Amy, and several other spectators watched as a huge ship loomed over the area. On its side was a large painting of Dr. Eggman’s signature logo, his own face. Sonic quickly shooed the children away so they could find a safe place to hide. There was a sudden ringing of feedback that was heard throughout the entire park, which was very painful to listen to.
“This is your beloved Doctor Eggman, speaking! I am on a city-wide search for Sonic The Hedgehog!! If you hear this message and happen to know where he is, please turn him in IMMEDIATELY! Or else...” said the speakers. Some of the spectators gasped in horror. Sonic immediately tensed up, and he gave the ship a nasty look.
Amy quickly ran to Sonic’s side.
“What’s going on?” she asked.
“No idea,” said Sonic, smirking a little. A door on the ship suddenly emitted mechanical hiss as it popped open, then revealed Dr. Eggman on his Egg Mobile.
“Ah, there you are! You’re just the guy I wanted to see!” Eggman rubbed his hands together in excitement. “Ooh, and your girlfriend decided to tag along, too? How wonderful! I still haven’t gotten your apology for tinkering with my jet-pack back on the Lost Hex. I’ll tell ya, it was quite the way down, ya know!” he crossed his arms, furrowing his brows in annoyance.
“Aww, do you need a band-aid for your whittle boo-boo?” “ Sonic said.
"To be honest, I was liking not having you around to pester me.”
“Then what do you need me for, Eggman? I’d be glad to test out one of your toys.”
A devilish smile crept onto Eggman’s face.
“Why don’t I show you? It’s on my ship, so just come on inside and you’ll find out!” he asked, gesturing towards his ship.
Sonic and Amy stared at each other for a moment, then exploded in laughter.
“Do you honestly think I’m THAT stupid?” Sonic laughed. Eggman chuckled in response, seemingly unfazed by Sonic’s taunting.
“Yes, I do, actually. And I’ll prove it to you!”
“Oh yeah?”
Eggman raised an arm and slammed his fist down on a large button. Suddenly, a large figure was dropped from the bottom of the ship and landed with a thud.  Sonic tilted his head to the side in confusion. It was a robot, but unlike any other robot Eggman has ever made. It looked like a panther made entirely of metal, with glowing red eyes and long, sharp claws. It slowly circled Sonic and Amy, yowling.
Amy clung onto Sonic, hoping to stay as far away from the monster as possible. Sonic chuckled with excitement.
“I see you’re experimenting with something new!” he laughed, stretching his arms and legs. He bounced a little, acting as if the situation was all just a little game.
“Alright, let’s do this!” Sonic said, cracking his knuckles and getting into a fighting stance. But, before he could react, the panther suddenly leaped high into the air, and landed behind Amy, dragging its claws into the dirt. She let out a scream as the panther pounced on her, trapping her underneath its paws of death. The robot growled menacingly, which sent an unsettling tremor down Amy’s spine.
“Amy!” Sonic yelled. He went to attack but was tripped by a whip of the panther’s tail. Eggman let out a hearty cackle.
“Haha! You fool! I would like you to meet Saber, my latest most innovative invention yet! She packs quite the punch, doesn’t she?” Eggman spoke in a way that seemed more like he was congratulating himself instead of asking Sonic a simple question. Sonic clenched his fists in frustration and shot a dangerous look at Eggman.
“Let her go!” he yelled.
“Oh, I will. But, only if you do exactly what I tell you to.” Eggman returned Sonic’s glare.
“I don’t do what anybody tells me to do.” said Sonic.
“Oh? Are those…screams of terror I hear? Sonic, I think it may be important for you to know that if I give Saber the command, she’ll go on an unstoppable rampage, destroying everything and capturing everyone in its path. Starting with your girlfriend, of course. ”
Sonic’s eyes widened. He looked back at Amy, who was just an unlucky move away from having a really bad accident with one of Saber’s claws. He grunted, not liking the idea of following Eggman’s order. But, he knew that taking the risk wouldn’t be worth hurting all those people. Sonic stared at the ground for a moment, groaned, and turned around.
“Fine, I’ll go. But, you have to let Amy go first, and put that thing away!” he warned. Eggman quickly obliged, ordering the robot to set Amy down. Sonic ran over to her and helped her stand up. “Are you okay?” he asked. Amy caught her breath and nodded.
“Yes, I’m fine, but I’m going with you.”
Sonic opened his mouth to object, but Amy insisted.
“Don’t even think about convincing me otherwise,” she said firmly. Sonic shrugged his shoulders in response; once Amy made up her mind, there was no changing it. Eggman tapped his fingers impatiently as Amy gathered all of the things from the oak tree. As the two made their way into the aircraft, Sonic took Amy’s hand and squeezed it. “Stay close, I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”
Sonic, Amy, and Eggman each stepped into the flying ship. Sonic and Amy stayed within each other’s eyesight, while Eggman wandered about looking around for something. Sonic placed his hands on his hips and tapped his foot impatiently on the floor. Amy grimaced as she caught a glimpse of all of the weird gadgets Eggman had lying around his lab.
“So, what do you want this time?” Sonic asked, watching carefully as Orbot and Cubot suddenly appeared through a doorway with a huge tray carrying a sandwich. Eggman took the sandwich from the tray and chomped down on it.
“Well, I have a proposal for you, Sonic! You see, I need you to do a job for me. I created this new invention–a portal to other worlds, and I needed an organic life form as a test subject.” he said with a wicked smile. Orbot and Cubot left for a moment and came back lugging a giant scary looking machine with them. At the top, a ring shaped light shone down against the floor.
Sonic took a step back. “Whoa, no way! I’m not gonna be your little lab rat!” he said. Eggman shook his head and chuckled. “Maybe not a lab rat, but a rat none-the-less.”
Sonic grumbled under his breath.
“Well, this rat is about ready to shove its foot up your-”
“Why do you need Sonic in particular?” Amy said suddenly. Eggman was silent for a moment, smirking.
“You know, you’re right, Amy. You’ll make a fine subject as well. Orbot! Cubot! Seize her!” he said. Sonic stepped in front of Amy and through his hand in front of her.
“Don’t even think about it. Now, why don’t you give me your usual speech about taking over the world so I can kick your butt and leave?”
Eggman raised a brow and rolled his eyes. Sonic was always a stubborn, immature, parasitic excuse for an organism; he will never learn, will he? Eggman was silent for a moment, then shrugged his shoulders and reached for his pocket. He pulled out a laser gun and fired towards the center of Amy’s chest without hesitation.
“WHOA!” Sonic immediately tackled Amy towards the ground, saving her from the fatal shot. The force of his shove caused them to slide across the floor a bit. Amy’s heart rate skyrocketed and she squeezed her eyes shut. Sonic shot up like a bullet and charged.
“YOU COULD HAVE KILLED HER!” he yelled. Sonic swung as hard as he could at Eggman’s nose, but his fist bounced off an invisible force-field that encased the pudgy man. Sonic stared at Eggman with a startled expression.
Eggman grinned from ear to ear, taking a bite of his sandwich.
“Looks like you found another one of my new experiments.”
Orbot and Cubot lunged from behind and grabbed a hold of Sonic’s legs. “Huh?” Sonic’s head whipped around, and he was dragged across the floor alongside Amy and was thrown onto a circular platform. He saw Orbot smash a button on a remote control, trapping him and Amy in a glass tube. Eggman exploded in laughter as he watched the two bang on the glass.
“HOHOHOHOHOHOHO! GOTCHA! Eggman one, Sonic zero.” he said. Sonic snarled. He punched and kicked as hard as he could against the glass, but to no avail. He looked up, there was a ring light with seven bulbs inside. Six of them made a circle, and the last one was in the center.
Amy clung onto Sonic as the machine began to make a loud whizzing sound. The ring light began to shine brighter and brighter. Amy’s heart began to race and her body was shaking. “S-Sonic? What’s happening?” she exclaimed. Sonic squeezed Amy’s hand for a moment to reassure her, then let go to shield his eyes from the blinding light as it grew stronger.
Eggman continued his laughter until he realized the entire ship was shaking. He stooped down and tried to grab onto something, but couldn’t see anything through the white light. “What?! THIS ISN’T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN! ORBOT TURN IT OFF!! NOWW!” he cried. Orbot flailed around trying to look for the remote, but he could not find it.
The ship began to shake vigorously, tossing Eggman around like a rag doll and causing all of his gadgets, doodads, and his precious sandwich to crash to the ground. Sonic and Amy clung to each other as tightly as they could and watched in shock as the glass case surrounding them began to dissolve into tiny particles.
Amy screamed as the tiles on the floor cracked beneath her feet. Sonic pulled Amy against him and stepped away from the growing hole in the floor, but was trapped by the remaining glass. “Just hold on as tight as you can, Amy! Try not to let go of me!”

Citizens from the park below stared in shock as Eggman’s airship seemed to have a mysterious white aura forming around it. It shook and rumbled and whizzed. Pieces of it started breaking off and dissolving into the air like it was disappearing somewhere else. The noise it was emitting was growing louder and louder. Then, in an instant, the entire ship was engulfed by a bright light and was gone.
Then, Sonic was falling.
