january

my favourite, and most popular, post from this month was my XG shooting star set. for some reason doing an entire set for a music video is really intimidating to me but i think i did well!

feburary

my favourite was this taeyeon weekend set. i wouldn't be tumblr user pinktaeyeon without having this be one of my favs. i think i coloured and sharpened it well. my most popular set was this irene monster set! i'm proud of this one as giffing stages can be SO difficult! i think it came out well.

march

my favourite was this taeyeon happy performance set! my other fav aesthetic other than pink in general is underwater! taeyeon at the aquarium singing ??? a video after my own heart. my most popular set is this nayeon & sana set from the set me free mv.

april

this month was the start of exo activities and i felt in my element. my fav set is this one of baekhyun doing the sorry i'm cute challenge. he's just !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my most popular set was my le sserafim break the bridge set!!!

may

my taeyeon fine set was my fav from this month. it's one of my favourite taeyeon title tracks and i think i did well making this set considering the video quality is not ! it ! my most popular set from this month was my aespa welcome to my world set. this is actually one of my favourite songs from this year. it's just so stunning.

june

june was A MONTH!!! shinee came back, taeyeon was doing concerts and EXO RELEASED LET ME IN AND HEAR ME OUT!!!! my favourite and most popular post was a set from exo's hear me out mv. this mv was just so special to me. seeing the exos having fun and being silly just meant so much. this set is another fav too. kyungsoo eating a donut gif you're so dear to me.

july

july was peak exo comeback content so i made sooo many sets. it was SO much fun making exo content again so here are a few of my favs 1. chanyeol vs. nails (most popular) 2. chanyeol cream soda mv set 3. exo cream soda performance set from mcountdown (pink shirt, curly haired junmyeon !!!!!!! yeah !) 4. hear me out behind video of baekhyun being a menace

august

my most fav and most popular was my aespa better things set. i loooved this mv so much they all looked gorgeous and the song was so pretty. i loved everything about this release!

september

favourite and most popular is this taeyeon got the beat set. this look.... it's just... so legendary... lives were changed.

october

my favourite post from this month was this set of chanyeol and jongdae in chanyeol's good enough music video. seeing chingu line in yeol's mv really healed something in me. these two sets (cy, ks & jd & chanbaek) are close seconds just bc the good enough mv was so special. my most popular set was this one of taeyeon at the louis vuitton fashion show!

november

taeyeon comeback month!!!!!!!! i made a few sets for her comeback but this one has to be my favourite. she just looks so stunning!!!!! my most popular set was a taylor swift set from the reputation stadium tour!

december

i haven't made much this month but this set of taeyeon's fabulous performance video is my favourite and most popular set! yet again she looks stunning. talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before etc.

this year has been a really good one for creating. i've genuinely had so much fun making things and also seeing other people make things for my favs too. being able to create for exo and taeyeon specifically has been so much fun!!

anyway if you've read this far, thank you! thank you for enjoying all my silly little gifs and talking to me about my favs. i've enjoyed it so much. i'd like to get to know people better but i'm v shy! but seeing people say nice things in tags has been so lovely.

EXO "Obsession" theory part 1

Part 2 | Lucky One Theory

• Let's first dive into the main theme before exploring other details. Obsession makes us wonder whether X-EXO are evil clones. On the contrary Baek mentioned something similar in their behind the scenes video (pls click on individual screencaps to read):

The boys are involved in this good v. evil fight as we know. Now that we have the theme of alter egos confirmed I wanted to mention there is a song on the album called Jekyll (지킬) the idea is borrowed from R. L. Stevenson's book and makes it easy to connect the dots. The lyrics of the song make it clear about the main plot of this era so we move on...

• Chen plays a game of chess with his evil counterpart. At the end there are certain pieces that remain - knight, knight, 4 pawns idk how this is valid since if a king is in checkmate the game ends conventionally.

I believe Chen and his counterpart are the knights. Now knights + pawns = 6 members in comeback. This might mean that Chen is in control and knows things which the other 5 don't since they are just "pawns" for the time being. He is also the only good guy remaining or smth out of these 6 and others might have been corrupted or defeated??!

I believe Chën won.

There are multiple footages of their chess board too: it might mean each of their actions is being watched by the RF. But I'm still not sure why they have the screens in their room (since Chen has the power of Thunder which could roughly go with electricity?). Is Chen keeping an eye on Chën?

• Moving on.. Chanyeøl is the one in center when the song begins. He is also the only member with eye-catching continuous patterns on his outfit. Something about Chanyeol seems a little off. I have started thinking of reasons for his behavior and vulnerability which I'll surely discuss another time :)

Clearly they emphasize how Chanyeøl is the leader of X-EXO or smth, like the most destructive force. In the mv all of X-EXO (except Sehůn) glow red but we see that only Chanyeol (special emphasis on red eyes) looks like that. This makes me think he is consumed by his evil ego:

Chanyeol and his X-EXO counterpart engage in a physical battle using fire:

At one point Chanyeøl is engulfed by fire as they fight and later we see Chanyeol radiating flames. He is also seen on the red side of the ground, encircled by the fire - hence it is clear he loses the fight.

• Kai is a biker and his scenes with Kāi reminds us of bullfighting. In the first gif below, we see how Kai tries to dodge his matador counterpart:

There are negative versions of Kai and his evil counterpart (maybe they fight in two different worlds since we know Kai teleports like in MAMA). I'm unsure who wins the fight since both appear with subdued expressions in inverted colors.

I'll also mention that in the performance video of EXO AND X-EXO, Kāi and Kai interact:

• In this picture we see there are 12 rooms → for the original 12 "legends". Only 6 members took part in this comeback so the other rooms are empty (Luhan Tao and 🥴 belong to the rooms below but were trapped in the maze). Notice how Kai is in the center of the OT9 rooms — he is the key to something. From Japanese, Kai translates to Recovery in English: it could mean protection and restoration of the tree of life to its prosperous state since "tree of life and the heart slowly grew dry" from MAMA intro. This is something very important to revert to as we unravel their clues to the story.

•We see exo playing video games/reading comics in some teaser photos of other releases, the vcr from their EXplOration Dot (Day 1, Seoul) and even Power mv and merch reflects this vibe - which makes sense that the battle at such a physical level is fictitious (and being endured mentally). These might be dreams the boys have after the RF drugged them or possibly influenced them in some way.

Top 20 K-pop songs in 2023 (Part 1, 20-11)

This has been yet another fantastic year for K-pop, and putting this ranking together was so hard that I had to take drastic measures. So, this time round I'm only including one song per solo artist or group, be it a title track, a B-side or even a Japanese release. Anyway, let's get going:

20. Do Not Touch by Twice MiSaMo

I know this is technically J-pop, but I don't care cause it's a bop. I never expected this specific unit to go with this sound and concept for their debut, so it was one of the most pleasant surprises of the year.

19. Sugarcoat by Natty (Kiss Of Life)

Launching Kiss Of Life through this solo song was a brilliant idea, cause it's pop perfection. I really hope they work with this producer for future comebacks.

18. Sweet Juice by Purple Kiss

I love this song's creepy vibes and its string arrangement. Easily one of the most underrated K-pop releases of the year.

17. Like Crazy by Jimin (BTS)

The instrumental for this song is spectacular, and Jimin's vocals add a touch of mysticism that makes the whole thing spellbinding.

16. Thirsty by Aespa

Quite possibly the best R&B style K-pop song we've gotten this year. I kept playing it over and over when it came out.

15. But Sometimes by Boynextdoor

I just love this song's pop-punk, indie-ish sound. I see so much potential in this group, and I really think they could be huge if they keep giving us music like this.

14. Love Effect by ONF

I missed their sound so much and I'm so glad they finally came back. We really need more K-pop like this.

13. Rover by Kai (EXO)

Usually I'm not the biggest fan of reggaeton and that type of music genres, but when they're mixed with K-pop we always get superb bops like this one.

12. Slow Dancing by V (BTS)

Nobody else in the whole K-pop idol industry could pull this off. V has truly found the perfect style for his voice and image. Also, the flute solo at the end of the song is magical.

11. Shooting Star by XG

Yeah, I know, this song technically isn't K-pop, but I had to include it because its pre-chorus and chorus are among the best stuff I've heard this year.

Top Debut This Year: I've been super bad at keeping up with these things but I saw that Plave debuted this year and I quite like them so... yep ✨

Choreographies You Learned: My plan was to finish learning all the choruses to SuJu's title tracks, but that didn't happen (>_<;)💔 I did learn "Switch to me" by Rain&JYP together with my sister though!

YES

Not just yes but in the biggest font . Because we can see how hybe has placed it's entire hope and faith on this one particular event . Call it Hybe's need of the hour .

You have 40 million+ of easily brainwashable , emotionally vulnerable and intellectually weak waiting to get emotionally manipulated by the sentimental drama of the '2025 bts reunion as a family together ' and that will bring in huuuuge amount of money . Scooter stepped inside hybe for the sole purpose of bagging all that cash kpop fans throw in . He's not gonna let go bts just like that . They'll do everything to extract the fruit of this family bond sentiment from the Fandom- a comeback album maybe title track named ' we are back' and lots of sad ballad songs singing about their strength as family 7, bts leader boasting how the industry mocked the group was going to disband but the 'family bond' brought them together for chapter 3 and definitely the weapon all music labels use to reclaim all the money they lost during hiatus: world tour .

All this will happen just to fool the Fandom to create a mirage that their beloved bts is still existing and keep them hooked just like how it's been going on now meanwhile the group won't have unity or coherence in anything.

Bts may do activities together for 2 more years together after which group comebacks will just slow down like exo , got7 who are still haven't disbanded but not active as a group. As a fan of soloist jimin - we can definitely see continuation of solo ventures . The group will just be in the sidetrack so we still get the big W.

The Fandom is in hopes of subunit debuts . But like you mentioned, seeing how hybe is heavily pushy with just one I don't think we'll get any subunits . Shipping contents YES but not in music.

Something changed in hybe's board since last year. Scooter has now got the upper hand than paradise group. Paradise is still in picture supporting yoongi, namjoon, hobi, v , jk altogether but being dominated by scooter .

But I do also think hybe doesn't have full disclosure on guaranteed bts for longer period over the lane of next 7 years . From investors pov , I think that's why scooter is trying for another jb-alike , since all his artists are moving out so to make the best out of what's left. Scooter needs to showcase he's still capable of creating a superstar image with all credits belonging solely to him and that's why all the work jk been made to put out is a zombie work . Jk cannot claim any of those songs as his .

So to conclude : tldr;: bts won't be here for too long . Let's just smile and wave when jimin gets cozy with the short - term group .

😲 <- me when Sehun started Hear Me Out

Maybe because it's my first comeback, DO stans always this upset over line distribution? I swear I saw something about them boycotting this comeback anyway, so why the suddenly complaints. EXO usually buries little songs like this on the albums, so I like how they decided to let this one shine in a video. Anyway, I love the song and hearing Sehun, Chanyeol, Suho, and Xiumin more than usual. How do you feel about it?

I also was pleasantly suprised when Sehun started the song! >v<

Line distributions are oftentimes an issue if a group consists of a lot of members and I get where Kyungsoo stans are coming from as someone who watched Sehun get barely any lines in previous comebacks and albums. Boycotting the comeback because of that seems a bit exaggerated to me considering there are still the title track and the other songs to be released though... And while I do like that other members got to shine in 'Hear me out', I hope that SM manages to distribute the lines equally someday ;;

Voltará naquele tempo em que sua maior preocupação era que horas o MV iria sair, qual prêmio o grupo ia ganhar, quando ia ter comeback.

Um dia você chegará em casa e ouvirá aquelas palavras que um dia te deixaram enlouquecendo para saber o significado, sentirá aquele arrepio pelo corpo se lembrando das vezes que ouvia aquelas músicas e sentia todo o seu ser revirar. Olhará de mansinho e verá seus filhos ouvindo o seu tão amado kpop, dançando aquelas coreografias malucas e falando o nome de cada integrante do grupo que eles gostam e verá neles a euforia que esteve com você um dia e aquela nostalgia vai bater como nunca antes, e lá estará você junto deles, procurando os grupos que fizeram um enorme sucesso na sua época.

Notícias como Jimin do BTS se casa hoje. Sehun e Baekhyun depois de anos assumem que são um casal desde os tempos do Exo. Super Júnior se encontram depois de anos separados para uma surpresa aos fãs. Astro dá uma entrevista com os seis integrantes após anos separados. Seventeen é o grupo com o maior fandom de todos os tempos. NCT faz hoje apresentação final do grupo em despedida dos palcos e dos fãs. GOT7 volta aos palcos após o tempo de hiatus. CL é a mais nova diva do rap na América.

São notícias assim que o farão lembrar de quando você era adolescente e via um disband, um integrante doente, um casamento do seu bias, a morte de algum grupo que você gostava muito. Perceberá o quanto deixou de lado aquele momento da sua vida, o quanto se deixou levar pelas preocupações da vida e o quanto se esqueceu daquelas pessoas que eram tudo pra você e que um simples sorriso delas o tirava do chão, como nada irá tirar.

Quando estiver sozinho vai se olhar no espelho e ver que nada daquilo que você foi um dia, estará estampado em você, os cabelos coloridos e as franjinhas não estarão mais lá, e a tempos deixou de fazer aegyo, sua blusa vai deixar seu corpo e nele estará a marca de que um dia o kpop fez parte da sua vida. Irá naquele cantinho do guarda roupa e pegando a caixa vai ver nela as blusas, posters, álbuns, fotos, ingressos, faixas, bichinhos de pelúcia, cadernos e folhas com os nomes dos seus ultimates. Vai achar aquele celular antigo e verá nele fotos e músicas que fizeram parte de sua trajetória até você abandona-lá de vez. Se bem que isso não foi de vez, pois guardou naquelas caixas todas as lembranças, no seu coração todo o amor, na sua mente os momentos, na sua lista de contatos amigos que você fez por whatsapp, pessoas que já não fazem mais parte da sua vida e daquelas que nunca saíram do seu lado.

while i agree to a certain point to anon… what you mean “once again”? 😭 it’s not like JK has been screwed over repeatedly for the sake of the band…?

also, i feel like they most likely decided together to enlist all at the same time, bc it made more sense to them to put the group first? not to be that kind of army, but it’s not like they’re like other boy groups… spending more time apart (for regular enlisting time) and having “fillers” schedules in the meantime would have probably damaged them more than sacrificing now and getting this thing over with. So he’s sacrificing, yes, but it’s not like they could have done it differently? As i said in an old anon msg, none of their solo careers/activities is supposed to eclipse the band. It’s not just a romantic view of the whole issue, but also a realistic and business conscious truth (obv, it’s also romantic in the sense that i do believe they love the team and the work they do together above anything else).

oh i don't want to put words in the mouth of that anon so if they want to come and explain the "once again" comment, feel free too!!! i partially agreed with them because i agree that jungkook IS making a sacrifice by enlisting earlier than when most people in his profession do. also, i think it's just easier to sympathize with him because he is the youngest in the group, and there is an established narrative about his youth being taken away from him (not to say that this couldn't be applicable to the rest of the boys and many other idols, but that is the narrative that is tied to jungkook the most lol)

even so, i agree with you. i think jungkook, along with the other 3, made a conscious decision in enlisting because they're fully aware of the benefits of coming back within 2 years as a whole group than the usual 5-6 years (e.g. what exo did, which essentially bit them in the ass) where they do solo stuff in between. not that it takes away from the success of their solo work--if we're being v realistic, no one could achieve what they did with the solo stuff. it just makes sense because their fandom consists mainly of people who like them as a group and there's sooo much anticipation with the comeback being around hyyh era.

sidenote: as for filler schedules, romcom kdrama with a jin lead wouldn't hurt!!!!!!

I got into kpop through a couple friends at the beginning of 2020, and then a few months later I saw some interviews with Baekhyun and then it was all over for me haha. He's been my bias from the beginning.

Cream Soda was my first Exo comeback with stages so it was definitely my favorite comeback this year too! But I also love any SHINee comeback (who's your SHINee bias?) and I ADORE Kyungsoo's new album. Exo is probably my #1 right now but I also follow SHINee, WayV, Pentagon and a few others.
