BEING NO ONE IS NO BIG DEAL
Musashi, after the very first duel where he came out as the loser, breaks down in tears. The man obsessed with being invincible has just made his acquaintance with defeat. If he's not invincible, then what is he? What is left for him?
For a person who only sees merit and worth in victory in the battlefield, he then proceeds to envision himself as nothing. No one.
On an unrelated note, that reminds me of this quote, of the song "Cowardice", by the band Defeater. [Credits in the pic].
Years later...
"The height of the stars hasn't changed one bit."
"I'm... no one."
The relief expressed in these two realizations is a signal that Musashi has just taken one more vital step towards the exit of the spiral of death and killing, towards bettering himself as a person, towards life.
Yeah, Musashi, you are no one, yet the height of the stars hasn't changed one bit, so it's okay. It's okay to be no one. You don't have to be invincible under the sun; no one does. Invincible is just a word, and you, as being no one, can be more than what only a word describes. There are infinite possibilities within the no one that you are. You are infinite.
Just live your life for today, my man, doing your best to support lives along the way. That's why we are here.
For millennia, the sky has threatened to fall on top of mankind's head, yet, even today, the height of the stars hasn't changed one bit. We are still here, and now, so let's live our lives for right now the best way we can.
