starting to get interested in a sport is a slippery slope, because one day you think "oh this looks cool" and bam, three years later you are sad about seeing random numbers that are worn by your fave athletes.

someone give valentino rossi access to tik tok currently you know his feed is going to be just rosquez edits
free my man from whaterver pr-person is holding him hostage i know he would be terrible at tiktok but i would enjoy every second of it.
his burner account (something pecco took on himself to explain to him) is indeed full of rosquez edits and he's replying to every single one of them "that's not what happened" and "marquez sucks" but jokes on him because the more he interacts with them the more he will see.
(he also stalks marc's account for uhm. research purposes. staring at thirst traps and glistening muscles. where marc is obviously hiding his evil plans for on-track crimes. mhm mhm)

Birthdays
A 500 word fic, in celebration of Carlos' birthday, about his birthday 6 years ago
As the lightness of revelry quiets down into the heaviness of dreams, two men in an apartment in a small desert town lie awake next to each other. A bouquet of lavender floats in an Erlenmeyer flask shaped vase. Caramel dries up on deep sea creature themed dessert bowls in an otherwise empty sink. The faintest violet glow seeps out from under a door trying to infect the rest of the home with its warmth. The men can sleep, but are still choosing not to in order to stretch the day longer than its allotted 24 hours. A hand strokes a cheek, nurturing its new-found fondness towards the scruff.
"Mmm?" The man's eyes do not open. He senses his lover's eyes failing to not bore imaginary holes in him.
"Were your gifts satisfactory, Carlos?" The hand moves up into locks of hair, twirling and gently pulling apart strands.
"Mm, yes, querido, they were satisfactory." A sleepy chuckle sounds at his lover's verbose phrasing. It is stopped by a flitting kiss on his forehead.
"Good, that's good." The hand retreats to the back of the head, pushing their foreheads closer. "Is there anything else you'd like, darling?"
"No, I'm- I've actually been thinking..." His eyes open this time, inches away from magenta pools of magma.
"It's what scientists do best." Lips meet like it's the punchline to an inside joke.
"Yes, I was thinking. Cecil, I was thinking, would you like to raise a child with me?"
The man stills. Initial shock searching for the fastest shortcut out of his body. If this scene were illustrated by a 13-year-old fan-artist his pupils would morph into anatomically incorrect hearts. Instead, his hands clasp around the other's.
"That would be neat." He fights back against his cracking voice, but middle-aged puberty reigns supreme.
"Oh, heh heh," the other holds back his laughter only out of fear of tainting the quiet. "Neat."
Their lips meet again, exchanging promises to discuss more in the morning. They lay cradled in the other's arms and doze off into a dreamless but not hopeless sleep.
A couple weeks of paperwork and nine months later, the two men stand in a hospital room. The carrier rests next to a newly planted rowan tree in a pot it will one day outgrow and a Barnes & Noble's gift card. Their child lays sleeping in a hospital bassinet decorated with all the stars in the observable Milky Way galaxy and also the tiniest stuffed giraffe. A hand holds another hand behind their backs.
"Happy birthday, Carlos."
"It's not- oh. Thank you." He kisses the other's cheek. He then leans down to kiss the snoring child's forehead. "Happy birthday to you too, Esteban."
A thumb traces slow, small circles along the other's hand, silently asking, "Can we really do this?"
A fuller beard than the one that existed months ago rests on the same shoulder it always has. The hand tightens it's grip, warming the metal band between them, silently answering,
"Together."

WTNV Quick rundown - 46 - Parade Day -
Featuring Dylan Marron as the voice of Carlos the Scientist~
Act natural. Act like all of nature. Act like the entire cycle of life and death and change and rebirth. Welcome to Night Vale.
There is no actual 'parade' in this episode. Cecil uses the idea of a parade as code for a secret meeting between Tamika Flynn and anyone else who wants to help overthrow StrexCorp. He continues to speak in code, whilst tapping out the location and time of the meeting on his desk, as to try and conceal that Tamika will be there planning to enact her helicopter based rebellion strike. He's not particularly good at this.
There is also some code weaved into the traffic report about getting to the 'parade day' location, which is probably more well coded that the introductory attempts Cecil made.
The coding is dropped as the revolt takes place outside of the Strexcorp headquarters. Despite their commandeered helicopters and best attempts, Tamika Flynn (13 here) and her band of armed teenagers are captured and put into the before unused juvenile detention centre which has sat empty for years because of the 'specially-calibrated school lunches' formulated by the Night Vale Psychological Association.
Cecil barricaded himself into his studio during this time and locked Daniel in his control booth. Daniel 'throws chairs and yanks cables out of the wall' which does nothing as Cecil is broadcasting from his own equipment. He remarks that anyone could have come to help the kids but didn't and that's on them and they should have (he includes himself in this shame). His barricade, which is just cardboard signs saying 'Keep Out!' and 'Secret Room' is easily bypassed by Lauren who has brought Kevin with her also. They cut Cecil off before he can properly finish his show.
Weather: "Take Up Your Spade" by Sara Watkins, sarawatkins.com
Carlos reports that the doors on the house which doesn't exist have changed into Old Oak Doors. This has allowed them to properly enter the desert otherworld, instead of the house of a woman named Cynthia.
He says that if there is nobody on the other side to open the door for you, then you can't get back out again. He also says that when Rochelle (another scientist) went in for a few minutes, she claimed she was actually there several hours and was so hungry she ate all of the kolaches Dave (another scientist) made for them. They plan to do more experiments of a similar nature by having Carlos himself go inside. Cecil urges Carlos to be careful, but Carlos says that he'll be fine because he has 5 talented scientists with him.
Pamela Winchell calls another press conference, but this time about something important. An Old Oak Door appeared before her and when she opened it she was greeted by an angel. She insists that angels are real but is made to correct herself and say that they aren't.
Tomás Perez, head of Perez Accounting, said an old oak door appeared overnight in his office. When he opened it (because it was in the same place as the supply closet) he saw several men and women standing in a bright desert hellscape holding swords and sticks and even a few rifles. One of the figures put a finger to her lips, shook her head "NO" and then another reached to slowly close the door without breaking eye contact with him.
Claire Wallace (freelance photographer) sent in photos of a door that appeared in the empty lot across from the Rec Center. In one photo the door is open and there is an elderly woman putting up a sign that reads "Future Home of The Old Night Vale Opera House." In another photo she is walking toward the door, face unseen in both photos. In the last photo the door is shut and she is gone. Cecil says he can see the words "Josefina Contractors Inc" in small print across the bottom of the sign. (HO-seh-fee-nah)
Juanita Jefferson, head of neighbourhood improvement organization Night Vale or Nothing, said an old oak door appeared in her backyard. On one side she could see the door and it's brass knob, on the other side there just wasn't a door at all. When she opens it from it's visible side, she saw a vast, sandy wasteland and nearby mountains. Atop one of the mountains was a lighthouse. She said she couldn't see any trees. "Treeeeees," she said sadly. "They are us," she added, waving her hand lazily in the air as if to shoo away a very slow bee.
Lauren and Kevin are described as having white teeth, pink lips, eyes full but tight and deep dimples 'making their tiny noses into parenthetical asides.' They are quotes as smiling but clearly not happy. (At least, as Cecil sees them).
During the episode, there is morse code playing which incites NV citizens to rebel.
Here are a couple of my fave quotes from this one: "[But] belief is only step one. Action is step two. Fighting for what you believe  is step two. Solidarity is step two. Unity is step two." , "Are we living a life that is safe from harm? Of course not. We never are. But that's not the right question. The question is: Are we living a life that is worth the harm?"
Perhaps it is time to sign off for the day. I am sure to speak to you again very soon, listeners. Stay tuned next for the gentle sounds of forgiveness and a lilting melody of wounds healing. And until next time, Good Night, Night Va- Hey. Hey. No. What are you-
Proverb: If you love something, set it free. If it starts flying around and chirping, it was probably a bird.

What happened to Nilanjana? (And Luisa and Mark and the rest of Carlos's team of scientists?)
I've been wondering this since the first time I listened to 230 - Carlos Explained.
Dr. Lubelle stepped forward to meet our hometown hero. Behind her was her henchman, Dr. Blake Jones (released last week on bail for breaking and entering), and behind them was a nearly endless crowd of begoggled scientists. Dr. Lubelle smiled with venom, and crossed her arms over her chest. “Welcome to the party,” she said. Behind Carlos, there gathered a more ragtag group, the community of Night Vale, or what was left of us after so much of our town had been explained away. They glared at both Dr. Lubelle and Carlos, radiating hatred for the scientific method and all who practice such heresy.
(Bolding mine.) And then shortly later:
There were grumblings among the towns people, however. It seemed maybe they weren’t as convinced, when there was only one scientist on our side, and a horde of Dr. Lubelle’s minions in lab coats following her every evil word. Josh revved his engine in frustration. The Glow Cloud gusted and moaned. Dr. Lubelle sneered at us from affront her army, daring us to act.
(Bolding still mine.)
And I know they didn't forget about his team, earlier in the same episode Dr. Lubelle says:
Oh the attention you got for this so called discovery, nonsense though it was. You got headlines, you got grants, an entire research team for this fully funded expedition.
(Bolding continues to be mine.)
And like, maybe Dave and and Rochelle, part of Carlos's team of 5 investigating the House That Doesn't Exist that leads to the Desert Other World in episode 46 are no longer around, because it has been nine years in Night Vale and normal earth time, and 90 years in Desert Other World time. And sure, maybe Luisa and Mark defected to Dr. Lubelle's team for the prestige, or because they still think of themselves as University of What It Is researchers first and Night Vale residents second. And my copy of the book Welcome to Night Vale is paper so I can't check who "Stan" is, listed on the Wiki as one of Carlos's scientists.
But Nilanjana Sikdar cares too much about Science, Carlos, and Night Vale to turn her back on them. So where was she?
