i’m writing a new penny/mc fanfic! it’s called ‘deed i do (inspired by this song, because it’s great), and you can read the first chapter on ao3!

With Valentine’s Day coming up, I wanted to write a funny & sweet fake-dating AU between my MC and Penny. I absolutely adored the “Valentine’s Day Ball” side quest, so I decided to take the story and add a layer of drama and fake-dating shenanigans to it. And of course, Seojung is actually into Penny, which makes the fake-dating game that much harder.

I’m really excited for this fic. For once, I have a very clear idea in my head of what I want to write and how I want the story to progress. I even outlined this thing, which I rarely ever do. I’m taking this very seriously.

I look forward to pushing my writing skills by writing in a different tense and POV. I’ve chosen present (I think?) tense and a second-person POV, immersing the reader so they feel like a character in a video game. You see everything happen “as” the character.

Hopefully, all 4 parts will be out to enjoy on AO3 by Valentine’s Day! I have two days. Wish me luck!

They really need to either move the Crushed SQ down to Y4 or drop this new TLSQ with Annalena in Y5 instead even though it’s probably too late now since it’s coming out in 3 days. But still it makes no sense to meet Annalena before we hear about her. Plus if they move Crushed to Y4 at least it won’t be awkward to those who romanced Barnaby in the Celestial ball or the first Valentine’s TLSQ and especially for those who took Ismelda to the Celestial Ball since they can just headcanon she got over him before then.

I don't know why the Crushed TLSQ hasn't been moved down to Year 4 at this point. I mean, I'm pretty sure they moved Valentines Day I down to Year 4, right? At least, that's what one of my anons told me, once upon a time. Which is good because Penny, for instance, does not act like Year 5 Penny at all. The same thing applies here. Ismelda has been less "I will wear your face" lately, and more "Your face is stupid, but, let's do this again sometime." For a while now. The earlier we get the quest that kick-starts her bonding arc with MC, the better. That said, I can think of two potential reasons they may not wish to do this. 1) The Animagus Quest with Merula. I'm pretty sure it's meant to happen prior to Crushed, based on how Ismelda treats MC and how she seems to think about Merula - who is acting like her Year 5 self, by the way, so there's that. But 2) The Grand Staircase. It's a silly reason, I know, but the Grand Staircase wasn't unlocked until Year 5, and it's a featured location in the "Crushed" quest. But on the other hand, they featured the Muggle Studies classroom in the Teacher Appreciation TLSQ, and that can drop as early as Year 2. So maybe that reason doesn't matter anymore.

Judith and Talbott were slow dancing together, lost in their storybook fairytale world.

Out all of the dates they’ve been together, Judith found herself favoring this one above all others. Talbott made her feel things that she never felt before.

Beautiful.

Vulnerable.

Wanted.

Loved...

Something about the way he was looking at her felt intimate. It both scared and excited the Hufflepuff witch.

She truly felt like she had a chance with someone. To love and be loved.

But she was scared that this was all too good to be true. That this was all really a fairytale and she would wake up to her cold reality.

A reality that mocks her every time she looks in the mirror...

“Judith?” The dark skin girl mentally shook her head, looking up to find red eyes staring back at her.

“Y-Yes,” she quietly asked.

“Is everything alright? You seemed lost in thought,” Talbott said softly. Judith blushed at his intense gaze.

“N-no, no. I just zoned out for a bit,” she said. Talbott narrowed his eyes but didn’t say anything else. Judith soon felt her blush grow worse under Talbott’s stare. She felt tempted to move her head to hide her scar.

“W-What,” she finally asked in attempt to break the silence. Talbott blinked slowly, as if he was waking up from a daze.

“I’m sorry, Judith. It’s just that...” Talbott trailed off for a moment.

“You’re so beautiful, little bird,” he whispered, almost breathlessly. Judith felt her heart skip a moment, ducking her head so the Ravenclaw wizard couldn’t see her face.

“T-There’s no need to l-lie to me just because it’s V-Valentine’s Day,” she mumbled. Talbott frowned upon hearing this. The pair stopped dancing.

“I’m serious, Judith. You’re really beautiful, no matter the day...” Judith shoved him away. Pale gold eyes looked up, glaring at avian Animagus. A small shiver ran down his spine as the scar covering her left eye intensified the effect of her glare.

“Beautiful?! Talbott, LOOK AT ME! This burn scar is hideous! No wizard in his right mind would think I’m...” Her throat worked to swallow a lump the suddenly formed there. Red eyes narrowed as the young wizard stepped closer.

“That you’re what, Judith? That you’re beautiful? Gorgeous? Breathtaking? An angel on Earth?” Heat spread on the Hufflepuff’s cheeks as she struggled to find a response. Taking the opportunity, Talbott grabbed Judith by the waist. Judith ducked her head.

“T-Talbott... d-don’t-”

“Don’t tell me how to feel, Judith. I refuse to hear you talk down about yourself when you’re so much more than your physical looks,” Talbott said firmly. A firm but gentle hand cupped the girl’s cheek, forcing her to meet her date’s eyes. The two stood in silence as Talbott’s thumb slowly swiped across Judith’s bottom lip.

“T-Talbott,” Judith whispered.

“Mmm... yes, little bird,” Talbott answered in kind. A sharp canine peaked from behind plump, glossy lips, biting down on soft flesh of the lower lip. Talbott silently observed the small motion, feel warmth blossom on his cheeks and inside his chest.

“K-Kiss me... p-please...”

New Art, who dis?

So in case you guys are wondering, this is from my “Kendrick Lives AU”. For those who are unfamiliar, Kendrick is Judith’s dad. In this AU, she only lives with him seeing how Kendrick and her mother divorced after she turned 9. Mainly after when Sade purposely melted the left side of Judith’s face, leaving her with a prominent burn scar.

Around this time, her and Talbott are still not quite together. Mainly because of her fear that his feelings aren’t really. She’s very insecure when it comes to her face. Many guys bully her for it, telling her that she’ll forever be alone because of it.

In this AU, Judith is a bit more sensitive. While she wouldn’t outright cry, words do get to her a bit more and since these thoughts already exist in her head, people reaffirming her beliefs make it worse.

Even though Talbott has basically completely fallen for her at this point, she has a hard time believing that.

Minus the whole everyone's-asking-out-MC-again thing with this TLSQ, I actually thought that this quest was really cute, especially the outcome surprise from the partner you choose. In terms of outfits, I personally chose to don Monty in the outfit I designed for him just a few days ago.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this artwork. It’ll be a while (maybe a few weeks) perhaps before I make another artwork because I need a bit of a break before I can make something new again.
