Round 2: Hubert Von Vestra (Fire Emblem Three Houses) vs Gareth (Galavant)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Propaganda Under Cut]
Hubert Von Vestra:
The Evil Advisor trope if said evil advisor actually wanted desperately to change the world for the better and protect his found family but was also still a sneaky greasy gremlin of a man.
Born in to a noble family that was meant to guard the royal family from birth. They took him to meet the not at all in line for the throne middle child young princess he would be guarding when both him and said princess were tiny kids.
Long story short, his dad did a traitor, but Hubert had formed a bond with the lil princess and they were already like siblings to each other. When she gets kidnapped for eventual malicious reasons, this sad gangly pre-teen dark mage boy tries to go after her, and fights off the troops his dad sends after him for days before being dragged back home. Eventually Edelgard comes back after a few years. ALL her siblings were killed by said malicious plot/human experiments. She is the only one who lived through the experiments they did on her. She is now the only one in line for the throne. She is DEEPLY traumatized. The kidnappers are still trying to use her as a puppet.
All either the two of them have is each other. *crying emoji x100* From then on their mission statement is be gay and overthrow the church. Your honor, I love them.
Eventually they do (Or not and it's really fucking angsty and sad either way) overthrow both said book burning shit church, and the enemies of said church that had a longstanding war in the shadows going on that was fucking all of the rest of the world up. On the way Edelgard falls in love with another woman who's heart was experimented on in order to give her super powers (The player character), and Hubert falls for his polar opposite/narrative foil; the chipper, sunshiney prime minister's son. (They also both commit some patricide together. Woo patricide. Voice actors sing beautiful rendition of Wicked's "For Good" song. I'm not crying. You're crying.)
Spymaster, poison connoisseur, haver of a very silly evil laugh and mannerisms. He and his aforementioned narrative foil look like they stepped out of Interview with the Vampire. Copious queer as hell found family. What's not to love?
Gareth: Gareth was assigned as Richard’s bodyguard since they were ten years old and is Richard’s only friend and when Richard bungles the conditions of a duel against his older brother Kingsley (Richard decides to represent himself and Kingsley chooses Gareth to represent him), Gareth sneaks Richard out of the castle and puts him on a boat with the only other man he’d believe to be able to keep him safe (the titular Galavant) and threatens to kill him if one hair on his head is harmed. Gareth does the “say you hate the dog to make it leave trick” to get Richard on the boat but Richard knows that it means that Gareth cares about him. As the ship sails away Gareth quietly says a line from the lullaby their nurse would sing them as children. When Gareth gets back to the castle he kills Kingsley and does his best to keep the woman who orchestrated the whole thing at bay.

Adventure Time OC Muse.
Name: Samuel "Sam" Petrikov. Age: 1,000 (physically) 16 (biologically)
Appearance: Light blue skin with white hair and wears a blue Tsar-based military uniform.
Alignment: Good
Description: Samuel Petrikov hailed from a universe where everything is the same but Betty and Simon met early and married in the process. As a boy, Sam was fascinated with ancient artifacts like his father and often read the enchiridion when his dad wasn't around but it was mainly cause of the pictures. It was until his dad brought the crown and he put it on but Simon took it away for a split second. While the crown chose Simon as the wearer, it saw his son as a potential successor should Simon pass away. Simon had his meltdown and it caused Betty to take the boy away from him then gave him to family friends. As the years went by and the Mushroom War happened, Samuel began a transformation like his father and began to adopt some of his behavior as he aged while the powers also manifested. His entire family perished to Oozers and leaving him alive as his sanity felt like it was slipping away. That is until a strange girl named Marceline, found him. The two bonded quickly as she knew his dad and traveled together though his personality began to slowly become like a younger version of his father when he put on the crown. They later encountered the human survivors and helped them fight off the vampires but during a fit of panic, Sam used an ice blast that ricocheted and froze him with the Vampire King throwing him into the water where he sank. Samuel was recovered many years later when a sea monster tried to swallow him then spat him out into the beaches of Ooo. The ice around him began to thaw and he was left in a fugue state briefly and having barely any memories while starving at the same time. Sam attacked the Candy Kingdom later and tried to eat Cinnamon Bun but was stopped by Finn and Jake then was later defeated. The boy later met his father, the Ice King, who he recognized as his son immediately due to this appearance became his right hand as it resulted in dozens of engagements against Finn and Jake. But as the years went on, Samuel began to see flashes of his former life and later began to seek out Marceline who was overjoyed to see him again but was heartbroken when he couldn't remember her as she felt like she just lost two of her family members. Sam then saw the vampire bite mark on Marceline and remembered everything resulting in the two celebrating once again as Marceline hoped she can fix Simon. When he saw his father and Marceline's performance, he realized that he wants to prove to Ooo that his dad was a good man and decided to become a hero.
Personality: Samuel is described to be like a young version of his father but less insane than him. If anything, he takes more from Betty and is considered eccentric at the same time despite coming off as crazy like him. But underneath is a kindhearted boy who shares a lot in common with Finn and a person who is willing to do good yet wants to impress his dad. Realizing that his dad will always love him no matter what, Sam decided to become a hero of Ooo.

Got it!
I kept getting distracted that's why this took so long
Anyways going back to the Magic Au
So the way this one works is magic and monsters? Real, but hiding in plain sight. Two magical beings are in constant conflict to maintain true balance between good and bad, when bad tricks good and tries to steal his magic
But Oh No it scatters it to a bunch of humans! And by chance it's given to people who use it for bad things. The good being didn't die, but he's now a Cat. That's Morgana. He tries to track his magic down and recruits a bunch of monsters on the way cause
Shido got some and he discovered monsters and wants to get rid of them all. He has his vampire son kill people for him to add fear of monsters so he can use that for a campaign thing later
So anyways.
Akira is a witch and finds out when Morgana tells him and they form a familiar bond to give both more power so they can achieve Morgana's goal. They also recruit people
Like Ryuji! He died and god took one look at him and sent him back. So. He's haunting his own body.
And Ann! Succubus. When she touches someone who is attracted to womfs her demon magic makes them hella attracted to her. Makes life hard for her, but it doesn't affect the other two so they're safe for cuddling after they win
Yusuke is a kitsune, he often forgets to blink. When Madarame admits to all the shit he's done, Yusuke gets so mad he loses control for a bit and causes illusions so horrifying he breaks Madarame's mind and nearly does the same for 80 guests at the exhibition. :)
And Makoto, werewolf. She got bit at age 12, her sister locks her in a dark boiler room every full moon. Except one, when Makoto assumes she can get the mafia to stop using students before the moon rises. So she goes full moon beast and kills everyone in the base. The gang shows up afterwards and
Funny bit after the sun rises where they have to rush Makoto to Yongen to wash off the blood then rush her back to the basement so Sae doesn't find out she got out and tighten the reigns on her
Futaba! Her mom made an AI that she intended to put into an android body to be like, a helpful assistant. But she used magic, and someone finds out and theyre coming to destroy her research cause it's Shido he hates magic
Wakaba tries to upload Sophia, her AI, directly to the internet to be free but something goes wrong and Sophia is uploaded directly to little Futaba's brain. So she's being possessed by artificial magical life. So everyone who isn't magic assumes she's schizophrenic, but Sojiro can hear Sophia cause he's a seer and he gets them off the meds that have been making things worse and so on
Futaba did get some of Morgana's magic and it kinda made things much worse so the gang save her from being killed by a magic memory and yay
Haru is a Selkie (her animal form is a Ragdoll cat), and her dad has locked her coat in a safe after her mom died, and he's made a deal to hand it over to Sugimura, and she just wants her coat back, so the gang go to get it and
Whoops. The night they get in to get it, Akechi also breaks in and vampire drains Okumura of all his blood. So the news goes kinda real anti monster and magic and it's like a witch hunt out there
But Haru is given her coat back, and she joins them
They find out Sae is the next target and that they plan to arrest Akira and execute him to start a real witch hunt against monsters so they make the tough choice to leave Sae with the little magic she got while they try to take down Shido
Shit happens. Shido kills Akechi. The gang fight him magic style, and Morgana tries to take his magic back when OH NO ITS BAD MAGIC MAN ITS YABOIDICK OR WHATEVRR HIS NAME IS
Big fight, Morgana sacrifices himself, and from the death of the duelling magic forces, Lavenza is born. She's a magic being of Balance, and grants the team a wish for saving the world
They wish for Morgana back, even if he's just a magic cat familiar. Like lame-os.
So yeah that's the plot of magic au
I have a lot of notes for this one including Strikers but it's taken me long enough to answer this

Blood of the Covenant ch.1/7
The walls were made of a dark grey stone, traces of black colouring them, as if charcoal always rained on the manor. He didn’t know whether they were the aftermath of a fire or simply the unique colouration of the dreaded stone that one villager had murmured him about between a beer of two in the inn, four towns away. There was no reason to fear a building material, Izuku thought. He was a scholar, even if a bit young, but he wasn’t superstitious.
Izuku stood in front of the immense dark wooden entrance, the door’s panels standing tall, far above him, a feeling of dread pressing through his veins.
He knocked on one of the two panels that were each five time his size; and without anyone pulling it, the doors slowly creaked open.
The hallway of the grand entrance was gargantuan, tall immobile statues staring down at him with their frozen eyes. It felt like the interior of a cathedral, if not for the darkness that seemed to sip in each corner, big blotches of black ink obscuring the entire space like they would on one of his parchments, often to his greatest despair.
“Hello?” he said in a poised voice, trying to sound as sure as himself as he possibly could. There was barely a glimmer of light coming through the tiny opening a wind had probably pushed open.
Silence answered.
He stepped forwards, ignoring the way the hair on his neck slowly started rising up, chills running down his spine.
“I’m- Midoriya Izuku”, he continued loudly, echoes answering him back, “is there anyone here?”
Was there anyone that was supposed to greet him?
Maybe he was being rude. Yep. He should have waited outside. Damn it.
He turned on his heels and walked towards the open door, two metres away from him.
Then the tall heavy panels of the door slammed close.
Izuku gulped down.
Great. Now he was trespassing. Knowing this Count, he’d be executed on the spot.
So much for desperately trying one last option.
“I do not often have the pleasure of welcoming guests”, a deep-pitched voice said in his back.
Izuku turned a full one hundred eighty degrees.
He came face to face with the black eyes of a person, who was fixing him, barely a centimetre away.
Izuku jerked back, hands rising comically up, slapping in the air.
He leapt back, his instincts feeling absolutely raw and uncontrolled.
“AAh!” he yelled, lowering his voice quickly enough. “Sorry, you… you scared me.”
The person in front of him slowly blinked, and straightened his back; Izuku realized then than the figure had been almost bending itself in two to be face to face.
Goodness, this man was tall.
“My…” the voice rasped, like a rock in a cave of granite, his lips thinning in a strange smile “…Apologies. It has been a long time since I talked to a... peasant.”
Izuku closed his eyes quizzically, and tilted his head to the side.
“…I’m… Midoriya Izuku. I apologize for the unprompted visit, but I didn’t have enough money to send a raven here.”
Izuku stared back at the man who hadn’t stopped eyeing him, never ceasing eye contact. The tall person had a stance and noble features that recounted with no doubt his aristocratic origins, along with a vigorous musculature hidden between layers of clothing of great mark.
He wore regal clothes that contrasted with Izuku’s own apparel; it had to be the… Count.
The adult seemed to still be in the strength of age, which felt odd. Besides the white hair, there was no other indication of his age. Even then, it might be the natural complexion of this nobleman, after all, nobles were all known for having a strange air to them; the ethereal one of great descent.
Izuku difficultly swallowed down.
Izuku would have thought that his father would at least have wrinkles under his eyes, or at least greying hair.
Instead, the Count stood here, his eyes suddenly widening.
Izuku saw one of his hands raise, a single index pointing slightly upwards. Izuku thought he saw sharp long nails, but before he could get a clear view in the darkness, the hand disappeared back in the Count’s cloak.
“And what is the motive of your visit?” he asked, squinting.
Oh.
Izuku opened his mouth, closed it, and reconsidered his life options again. But he needed to talk.
“I was raised by the church and only was given back my documents after I left for my studies in a seminary. I… discovered then that… you- I…”
The count smiled all while looking at him in a funny way.
He almost seemed to be mocking him.
Izuku sighed, closed his eyes, and decided to try the sincerity card. Damn it. This would fail. He saw the very same eyes of the Count keep on staring at him with an emotionless expression.
“I came here to find enough money to continue my studies out of the sphere of control of the church. They wanted me to become an exorcist, one of those demon hunters that loiter from village to village, but I’m not superstitious. I like being a scholar. But I need money for that. And I thought- I believed you had an affair with my mother. Thus I came here”, he finished, “For money.”
The Count blinked two times at him.
He didn’t smile.
“Isn’t that quite rich?” he said.
Izuku bit his lips the stronger he could, until he tasted blood, the taste spreading through his mouth.
“Yes. It is.”
The Count tilted his head to the side, the rest of his body remaining perfectly immobile.
“Do you try this often on each nobleman you come across?”
Izuku looked back, offended.
“Maybe you thought it was a good idea to forge your papers, hm?” the Count continued, “Perhaps even you believed you would be able to seize an important part of my estate?”
Izuku’s eyes blew wide open.
“N-no! I- No. I was first seeking my mother, not- not my father!”
The Count raised an unimpressed eyebrow.
“Oh?”
Izuku nodded vigorously.
“My mentor was part of a group who hid from me the identity of my mother. Her name was Inko. It… Does it mean anything to you? If not, I’ll leave. I swear I would not lie on this. But from what I’ve gathered, it’s likely that you and her eloped together.”
The laughter of the Count was deep and rich, almost like a lugubrious symphony.
He then suddenly stopped laughing, staring back at Izuku, a hint of red in his eyes as he looked down at Izuku’s face.
Izuku gulped down the little blood that was in his mouth.
The Count remained immobile, his nose slowly breathing in and out air in a weird manner, eyes fixed in the horizon for a long moment. Izuku didn’t know where to put himself. He didn’t feel like he should nor that he could move. It was awfully strange and cold, as if his whole body was frozen in a strange sort of stasis.
The Count’s eyes then brightened up as he looked in Izuku’s ones.
“Very well!” he said with cold enthusiasm, “Maybe you deserve at least to stay for the night, traveller?”
Izuku looked back; he knew he couldn’t refuse. It was late night, and it was common knowledge not to ever stay outside in the dark. He didn’t know how he would have done things had the Count not welcomed him. There were savage animals in the woods, and those were very real and very deadly.
“Thank you for your hospitality”, he said, bowing deeply.
A strong hand seized his right arm, taking him by surprise as he was pulled forwards, the Count keeping a steady pace in the hallway.
“Oh, but you are most welcome, little one”, the pale noble answered him with a smile, as if he were thanking him for something else entirely.
Izuku tried to swallow down his worries.
He never had been a superstitious man, by any means.

I think the worst thing about Florian, in any incarnation, is how much he *wants* but is unable to *get* validation from his dad beyond like, being spoiled with material possessions.
Pathfinder Florian's dad is a master vampire who is literally incapable of loving him (or feeling most positive emotions at all) -- who puts on a show that keeps Florian loyal until he realizes, while reading a letter from said father, that his father talks about the humans Florian is supposed to bring back to keep as pets/cattle/potential soldiers for his little vampire army, using exactly the same words he uses for Florian (albeit, never to his face-- only when he was talking about Florian to *other people*). Which broke the poor kid's fucking heart...
Modern AU dhampir Florian's father is *also* incapable of any kind of positive emotion or genuine attachment because of the fact that he *stole* immortality and got himself hella cursed for it. Not to mention Florian is the result of some *really fucked up* magical rituals... And while Nikolai is technically "bonded" to his son (thanks to some weird traits of his particular vampiric bloodline) that manifests as possessiveness over Florian like he's an object. So again, he doesn't actually get his father's approval or love.
VtM V5 Florian somehow has it worse than the other two because his father *could* have loved him (and maybe did at some point) but has such high expectations for Florian that he's neither capable of or willing to meet (Florian knows he's not cut out to run the mafia clan his father does and cares too much about the well-being of his Family to even try but Nikolai doesn't see it that way, he sees it as laziness and rebellion) and Nikolai is still every bit as emotionally distant on top of, unlike the vampire versions of Nikolai, kind of very queerphobic. Like, he tried to/pretended to accept Florian when he first came out because as long as Florian was a proper young man, it would be fine. But Florian isn't and his emotional issues keep getting in the way of his attempts to BE better.
But in every universe he keeps TRYING to get that approval (well, not Pathfinder. In pathfinder he's admitted to himself he's going to have to kill his father and hopefully find some way to make his boyfriend human again).
Like, in the v5 Chronicle he's 100% *aware* that his dad put a hit out on him. And he's fucked up over it but some part of him is still just going "we can fix this, if we clean up our act and be a good son it'll all be okay" and I just love/hate it so much.

Word Count: 5,038 Demetri x OC - Part Ten - Final Part Warnings: Fluff. Yes, I have used a picture of Charlie for grown-up Nico.
Felix and Demetri put Sophie through ‘Newborn Bootcamp’ to help with her self-control. “Hey buddy, what are you doing here?” Demetri asked as Nico entered the courtyard “I’m here to help…” “Nico, I can’t let you do that” Demetri cut him off “I’m half-human so my blood will appeal to mum and I’m half-vampire so I am quicker and stronger than Ellie” Nico told him, a determined expression on his face, as he looked between his parents “You’re not quicker or stronger than her” Demetri warned, pointing at Sophie “I know dad, but you’re quicker and he’s stronger than she is” Nico nodded in Felix’s direction. Sophie was holding her breath whilst Felix had wrapped an arm around her waist, ready to hold her back if needed. Sophie let out the breath she was holding and looked at Nico “I’m sorry for the other day sweetie, you know I’d never hurt you or Ellie” “I know mum, that’s why I’m here to help. Ellie’s missing you and dad and doesn’t know why you went for her and the quicker you get control, the better…for all of us.” Demetri gave Nico a proud smile.
Wednesday afternoon, Nico tested Sophie’s self-control in a way that Demetri and Felix did not approve of but went ahead anyway. He decided to cut his palm and left a trail of blood from the garden fountain to the Queen’s prized Rose bushes. Sophie picked up the scent and started to follow it but stopped after a few moments as something didn’t feel right. She inhaled deeply and fear ran through her entire body “Nico” She cried out and ran to him, cradling him in her arms, whilst inspecting the still bleeding wound. “Are you ok sweetie?” She asked concern laced in her voice “I’m fine. I cut my hand on purpose. It was a test” He smiled at her “I-I could’ve hurt you Nico, why would you…” “I had faith in you mum, I was relying on that mother’s instinct of yours and guess what, it worked, that part of you won over the blood thirsty newborn part” He said proudly and watched relief and happiness wash over her face “Come on or that’ll get infected.”
Demetri stood watching the scene unfold with Jane and couldn’t believe his eyes “That’s one brave kid Demetri” “I know, but I’m still upset with him, he risked his life” “He doesn’t see that way Dem. You should be proud of them both, I am. This means their bond is stronger than her need for blood.” Jane replied “I suppose this means you won’t be pain dropping my mate anymore?” He asked “I only did it three times and it was on the lowest setting, I promise” She replied.
Thanks to working with Demetri, Felix, Jane and Alec twenty-four-seven, Sophie got her bloodlust under control within a week and everyone was proud of her, especially Demetri. Admittedly, Sophie did kill the postman on Friday, but in her defence, he smelt really appealing, like ‘chocolate and cinnamon’ and she did completely ignore Gianna who sitting less than three feet away at the time, something Gianna was happy about, so much so she helped Sophie dispose of the body. “I think that’s progress. Well done Sophie” Gianna praised with a smile “Thank you Gianna and for helping clean up” Sophie replied “Demetri is likely to be less upset about the ‘accident’ if he knows we took care of the ‘evidence’” Gianna added.
That Sunday Demetri decided to allow Sophie to see Ellie as she was missing her mum and he couldn’t take the sad look in her eyes anymore “Is mummy ok now? Can I see her soon?” She asked as he carried her back to his room “Mummy is feeling better yes, she struggled a little after she woke up as a vampire. We’re going to see her now” Demetri replied gently and Ellie smiled at him.
Once they reached the door, he put Ellie down and watched her run into the room and straight to Sophie “Mummy” Sophie picked her up and held her close, breathing in her scent “I’ve missed you hunny” “I missed you too mummy.” Alec was in the room ready to remove Sophie’s senses if needed. Demetri knew that Ellie was aware of Alec’s gift, having caught him playing peek-a boo with her when she was younger, in that ‘special’ way that only Alec could. “I’m sorry about what happened in the garden last week Ellie” Sophie said low “It’s ok mummy. Santiago explained that newborns can be unpredictable and that I wasn’t to blame” She replied and snuggled into Sophie. Demetri and Alec smiled knowing that Sophie and Ellie were going to be fine now, although Demetri knew he’d still be worried about them until Sophie had passed her newborn stage.
Time Skip – Ellie at 13 years old
Having hybrid going through an accelerated teenage phase was one thing but having a human teenager in the castle was something no one was prepared for, with the exception of Sophie and Gianna.
Ellie woke up one morning with a sore stomach and blood on her bedsheets, giving herself and Nico a mini heart attack. “Nico...Nico wake up” He rolled over and grumbled sleepily “Whaaat? It’s too…” “I’m in pain and bleeding Nico, please” She cut him off, pain evident in her voice, Nico was instantly awake and with his feet tangled in his duvet fell out of bed in his hasty attempt to get to Ellie. He pulled back her duvet to look at her to discover there was no visible wound but there was blood surrounding his sister and he panicked, he phoned his dad knowing he and his mum liked to get an early one on one training session in of a morning. “Dad. Ellie’s in pain and bleeding, please come quick” Sophie overheard the conversation and knew exactly what was wrong with Ellie and was fully prepared. Sophie had to practically wrestle her mate and son out the room and “But Soph, she’s my daughter…” “Dem, please this is embarrassing and awkward enough for her, let me deal with this and then you can see her” Sophie cut him off. Alec caught the scent of blood as he left the throne room and ran straight to the elite guard floor “Ellie, Ellie…” “Ellie’s fine Alec” Demetri told him but he still tried to fight him to get inside Ellie’s room, Nico stood beside his dad, blocking the door.
Jane stepped out of her room “Don’t make me use my gift on you brother” Sophie couldn’t believe that she had threatened Alec with her gift as everyone knew they had a pact to never use their gifts on each other. “Ellie’s bleeding and they seem so calm about it” He growled back, clearly worried about Ellie. “Ellie is having her first period and doesn’t need you crowding her right now. Let Sophie deal with it” Jane explained and found it amusing when Nico and Alec’s faces held identical confused looks “It’s a monthly thing Nico” Demetri added, having calmed down “The first time is always unexpected” Sophie called through the door “If you knew what it was why did you not say something dad?” Nico asked “You said Ellie was bleeding and I panicked, it didn’t cross my mind that it could be the reason when you rang but your mum knew what was wrong when she heard our phone call” He replied and heard Sophie and Ellie snicker from behind closed doors “What were they going to do mum, rip apart the invisible man that hurt me” “Not funny Ellie. I was worried and hurt myself falling out of bed to help you” Nico grumbled “I know, I’m sorry I was worried too but you can’t blame me for that” She called back. “Why’s Alec so worried?” Ellie asked quietly “He cares about you Ellie, we all do” Sophie replied low.
That afternoon Ellie curled up into a ball in her parent’s bed with a hot water bottle whilst watching film with Sophie. “This happens every month, the cramps and bleeding?” Ellie asked “Yes, hunny, it’s all part of becoming a woman” “Well, that sucks” Ellie replied. Demetri sat at his desk with Nico beside him as he looked up information on ‘menstrual cycles’ “They really should add a chapter on this at the back of the baby books, warning parents of what to expect during the teenage phase” Demetri muttered, Nico nodded and replied “It’d be more helpful if they sold a teenager version of the baby book” Sophie choked back a laugh “I’m sorry for being an inconvenience to you all” Ellie retorted, Nico flinched at the attitude behind her tone “You’re not an inconvenience princess, it’s just…I was unprepared for this stage in your life” Demetri replied, turning his chair to look at her “He bought baby books after we met so he’d be able to look after you and know what to expect as you aged slower than your brother” Sophie told her “Well I’m sorry that I wasn’t born a hybrid” Ellie growled and rolled over “It’s not my fault I’m a lowly human” She muttered low but they heard her and tried not to laugh “I warned you the teenage years would be fun” Sophie said “I don’t remember you using the word fun mum” Nico replied “I remember you saying one ‘wait till she’s a teenager’” Demetri added.
Once Ellie had her first period, the monthly week-long mood swings were a minefield that Demetri and Nico dealt with in their own way, much to Sophie’s amusement. Alec on the other hand kept his distance for the first two days of that week, after Ellie threw an encyclopaedia across the room once, that narrowly missed his head screaming “Arrgh, I hate being human.”
“What happened?” Demetri asked Alec as he entered his room “All I did was enter her room to say hi and to see if she wanted anything” He told Demetri who shook his head. “Rookie mistake” Nico muttered smirking “How come she doesn’t throw stuff at you two?” “Dad and I will not share our secret with you. You need to figure this out on your own” “Now you’re just being mean Nico” Alec replied and Nico just smiled.
Nico and Demetri learnt after a few months how to avoid being shouted at and having items thrown at them during the ‘bad’ mood swings. Their research online told them that chocolate releases endorphins, which is the happy hormone and some women get a craving for chocolate, so as a result there was always a stash of Ellie’s favourite chocolate in the fridge. As Nico runs hotter than her due to being a hybrid, Ellie often snuggles up with Nico when she has stomach cramps and if she gets too hot, she cuddles into her mum or dad. Nico also found that running Ellie a bath with her favourite bubble bath ‘Raspberry and Vanilla’ scored him brownie points, especially if he handed her a hot chocolate to drink whilst she soaks. “You two spoil her, you know that right?” Sophie asks her mate and son “Being a human teenager sucks mum, anything I can do to make it better for her I will” Nico replies “She’s my daughter, I can’t watch her suffer either, I’m sorry” Demetri replies “I know but you’re setting a high bar for her mate to reach” Sophie replies “If he can’t reach or exceed the bar, then he doesn’t deserve her” Nico replied and Demetri nodded.
Caius sets Ellie and Nico a History assignment in which they need to write a report on someone that they admire from history. Ellie decides to write her report on her dad and she borrows his Volturi crest, his engraved silver compass from Sophie and the baby book he bought so he’d know how to look after her for the show and tell part of the report. Nico chose to write his about Marcus, because although he lost the love of his life, he didn’t let that destroy his life, he found a way to continue living without her. This is something Nico admired.
Demetri was getting ready for guard duty but couldn’t find his Volturi crest “Hey Nico, have you seen my crest? It isn’t where I left it” “Ellie has it. Ellie also has your silver compass and the baby book you bought years ago” Nico calls back “How do you know she has those items?” Demetri asked curiously “That’s what I do, I track objects” Nico replied and Demetri gave him a proud smile “You do a have a gift and it’s tracking related” Demetri pulled Nico up into a hug “I’m so proud” “Thanks dad…I hate to cut the proud dad moment short but I have to join Ellie in the library as we have to present our reports to Caius. You and mum should come along” Demetri released Nico and went to get Sophie from Heidi’s room “Hey, mi amore we are needed in the library” Demetri smiles at her.
Aro, Marcus, Sulpicia and Athenodora are sitting in the library with Demetri, Sophie standing in the doorway listening to Nico and Ellie give their reports, along with Felix, Heidi and the twins. Demetri feels proud when he realises Ellie’s report is about him and his life starting with him being born and raised in Ancient Greece, becoming a vampire and living in Egypt with Amun and Kebi as they helped him hone his gift, then meeting and joining the Volturi as an elite guard. She also speaks about his tracking gift and how it works. Finally, she speaks about the last thirteen years, where he met his mate Sophie and together, they raised her and Nico. “I admire my dad because although he has been around for 1000 years and seen and done many things, he’s still learning and experiencing new things, mainly thanks to me, his human daughter and he takes it all in his stride. Also, he is fiercely loyal and protective of those he cares about and I love him very much” Demetri felt his eyes filling with venom “I love you too princess.”
Time Skip – Ellie at 16 years old
Once Ellie and Nico had completed their education with the Kings and their wives, Nico wanted to experience college in the human world with Ellie, but she wasn’t so keen after her childhood experience in the human world. Sophie, Demetri and Ellie were sitting on the sofa in Demetri and Sophie’s shared room, with Nico sitting on the chair beside them “Mum, dad, Ellie, there’s something I want to talk to you about. I’d like to attend college in the human world” Nico saw shock wash over their faces “Nico, you can’t be serious? You know what I went through as a child” Ellie said, not quite believing what she was hearing “I know Ellie but it was different back then, you were a child and attended school alone. This time we are grown up and we’d attend college together.” He replied giving her a smile. “I have no problem with you attending college, all that I ask is that you do it together” Demetri added looking between Nico and Ellie “Will the Kings be ok with this Dem?” Sophie asked, worried “They will be ok with it as Nico and Ellie do not pose a threat to us or our secret” Demetri replied.
Nico and Ellie attended college together posing as twins; Ellie studying Art and Literature, Nico, Art and History. Both of them excelled in their studies and made a few friends whilst remaining close to one another. They had been in college for a few months when one of their mutual friends invited them to a party that weekend. “We’ll let you know if we’re free” Nico told their friend politely, Ellie nodded in agreement.
Later that night Felix could hear Demetri and his daughter having a disagreement about her being allowed to attend a friend’s party “Come on dad, Nico’s going to be there and I am older than he is” She said “I said no Ellie, you’re only 17” Demetri replied “Exactly dad, I’m 17, I’m am adult and have been for a year. I only asked to be respectful. I mean I bet Nico didn’t ask to go” “You may be an adult in the eyes of the law but you are my daughter and I said no…” “But dad” “But nothing. I do not want you at a party where there are boys and alcohol. End of discussion” “Arrgh I hate you” She stormed out of her parent’s room entering her own and slamming the bedroom door shut behind her “Went well then?” Nico smirked, putting down his book to look at her “Bite me” She replied throwing herself onto her bed.
Demetri squeezed the bridge of his nose and counted to ten “Kids” He muttered; Felix stood in the doorway laughing “What’s so funny Fe?” Demetri asked “Oh I’m just remembering a conversation we had about…17 years ago regarding ‘immortal teenagers’ and how you said you’d go crazy if you had to deal them for eternity. Ironic isn’t it considering you now have two immortal teenagers” He chuckled “Helpful Fe” He growled and Felix held his hands up “I bet you sympathise with Carlisle and Esme now” Felix replied smiling “Get lost” Demetri growled. “Everything alright?” Sophie asked entering the room noticing Demetri looking stressed and Felix looking amused “Ellie hates me because I said she couldn’t go to that party on Saturday and Felix thinks parenting immortal teenagers is funny” Demetri replied “Ellie doesn’t hate you babe, she’s just upset, angry maybe and she lashed out in the heat of the moment. Trust me” Sophie said as she cupped his face; she leaned forward and kissed him “Can I ask why she isn’t allowed to go, seeing as Nico will be there?” Sophie asked cautiously “Because there’ll be boys and alcohol and I don’t want her around that…I won’t be there to protect her” He answered low; Felix left the room knowing that the next part of that conversation was a private one. “Ahh…ok” Sophie said realising Demetri’s reasoning “You cannot protect her from everything…” “I can and will protect her from that environment mi amore. I know Nico will be there but…” “He’s not her father” She said low “Exactly, I am. I failed you…I will not fail my daughter” She cupped his cheeks pressing her lips to his “Our daughter” She corrected and he nodded resting his forehead to hers “You didn’t fail me Dem, you didn’t know me then remember” “I know but…” He trailed off “Maybe we should tell her why you are so protective” Sophie said softly “Then I’d have to tell her she’s not mine…that I’ve lied to her all this time…then she’ll really hate me” He sounded upset at the very thought “Ellie is yours; she always has been and always will be…you know that” She reassured him “I think she knows that you’re not biologically related given that Nico grew up quicker than she did” She added and he nodded.
Demetri knocked on his kid’s bedroom door before popping his head round the door “Ellie, we need to talk…alone. Nico do you mind?” “Not at all dad. I’ll be with mum” Nico got off his bed and left the room. “Can I sit down?” Demetri asked nodding to the end of her bed “Whatever” She replied, he sat down and took an unneeded breath “You and I need to talk princess…but I need you to know I love you so very much and that will never change” Ellie sat up and nodded “O-ok” “You know that mum and Nico aren’t biologically related…” He paused and she nodded “Well, neither are you and I…before you say anything you were two months old when I first met you and your mum although we didn’t get together straight away…” “I know you had Nico with someone else, she passed away and you and mum met back up when I was four months old and the rest is history as they say” She cut him off and he smiled “Yes, but…there’s something you need to know about…” Demetri cut himself off when Ellie climbed onto his lap, wrapping her arms around him “You are my dad, you’re the only dad I’ve ever known. I know why you’re protective of me and I understand your reasons for saying no about the party…we don’t need to talk about it, really” Ellie said resting her head on his shoulder “I love you dad” She kissed his cheek “I love you too Ellie, more than you know” He tightened his hold on her “I’m sorry I said I hated you, I didn’t mean it. I could never hate you” She told him, tears filling her eyes “Hey don’t cry, I know you didn’t mean it. It was said in the heat of the moment” Ellie nodded and snuggled into him; he kissed her hair.
Sophie and Nico stood in the doorway watching them “For what it’s worth mum I was never going to that party, I would only have gone to protect her” He placed an arm on her back “I know sweetie, you’re a good brother” She said as she wrapped an arm around him “I’m curious to see how they get along once she’s immortal…I mean he will be the one to train her and everything” Sophie whispered and Nico chuckled “That is going to be one interesting year. I suggest we hide anything breakable.” Sophie chuckled too “You know we can hear you two, right?” Ellie said looking at her mum and brother “I have experience dealing with newborns…both human and vampires so we’ll be just fine” Demetri added smiling “Not to mention Uncle Felix will doubt help you out” Nico added “Dad’s going to show me how I can take down Uncle Felix as I’ll be as strong as him once I’m a newborn” Ellie added smiling “Now that is one fight I’d pay to see” Sophie said laughing “As long you put your money on me mum” “Of course Ellie, with your dad teaching you how to fight it’ll be an easy win” She replied “I know his weaknesses” Demetri whispered in Ellie’s ear smiling.
Alec sat with Demetri for a little while during the initial part of Ellie’s transformation “You know seventeen years ago I watched you and Sophie blend your little families together to create a new one, you accepted each other’s children as though they were your own and I admire you both for doing so as it couldn’t have been easy” Alec said thinking back to when Demetri met Sophie and Ellie and when he bought them into their world “It wasn’t easy at first as I had to keep a big secret from her but once I had told her about me being a vampire and we had spoken of the circumstances surrounding Ellie and Nico’s births, everything fell into place” Demetri replied and Alec nodded “I remember and the ‘mission’ that occurred after that conversation” “Speaking of Sophie and Nico, did you know that after she got control and everything settled down, Nico asked her to bite his wrist so that he has her mark on him and he bit her wrist in return; their venom marking each other, thereby strengthening their mother /son bond; making them mother and son, as they explained it to me afterwards” Demetri asked “I didn’t know that but I can understand the logic behind it, as they have always had a close relationship as mother and son” Alec replied “Ellie told me recently that once I change her, she will truly be my daughter as she’ll have my venom running through her and she and Nico will also be actual siblings” “Therefore finally becoming one blended family” Alec added “Exactly” Demetri said with a smile.
Ellie woke three days later to find her parents and brother waiting for her, her red eyes scanned all of them before settling on her dad. She ran straight for him and jumped into his arms wrapping hers around his neck “Thank you for keeping your promise. I love you” Having caught her with ease Demetri wrapped his arms around her “I had no intention of breaking that promise princess. I love you too.”  He set her down on the floor and she hugged her mum next.
“Look who’s finally joined the immortal club” Nico said smiling, Ellie punched his arm lightly “Hey little sister play nice” Nico says still smiling “Excuse me, little sister? Na ah. I’m older than you little brother” She replied “I’ve always been your big brother Ellie” “That’s because you had an unfair advantage of being a hybrid, therefore you have ‘played’ at being my big brother…but now I’m all grown up it’s only fair we resume our actual roles, little brother…or should I call you baby brother” She replied in a teasing tone, Demetri and Sophie laughing at the expression on his face “Baby brother?” He mouthed and she nodded “You may be older than me but you will always be my cute little sister” Nico wrapped his arms around her hugging her “I love you Ellie” “I love you too Nico” Ellie replied hugging him back. Demetri watching Ellie closely, to ensure she doesn’t attack Nico and feels proud of her for not being tempted by her brother’s human half.
“Ready for your first hunt princess?” Demetri asked “Yes. Is Nico still coming?” Ellie replied “Of course I am. I promised not to hunt or drink blood until you were changed, wanting us to share that experience together” Nico answered her with a smile.
Demetri, Sophie, Nico and Ellie left the castle to go hunting as evening fell, Demetri leading them to alleyway where it would be easy to lure humans to their death without exposing themselves. “When I say you run forward and grab the humans by the throat and waist ensuring your grip is tight and bite down hard” Demetri instructed his children as he eyed a human couple walking towards the alleyway. “Nico stay with your mum and Ellie, I’ll be back in a moment” Demetri said and made his way to end of the alleyway and spoke to the approaching couple “Please help me my wife is hurt…” Demetri led them into alleyway, getting closer to his family, a moment later Demetri’s voice calls out “Now” Nico and Ellie run forward with Ellie grabbing the female and Nico grabbing the male; holding them against themselves and biting down on their necks letting the blood flow down their throats, Ellie feels the burn ease with each delicious drop of the female’s blood. “Well done you two. You were quick and they were fairly clean kills” Demetri praises “Yes, you both showed more restraint than I did when I was a newborn” Sophie added with a smile, Demetri sped over to her and took her into his arms “So you struggled a little at first but you gained control quickly, with help of your family and friends” Demetri told her, kissing her temple “I think mum’s a little irked that you are a calmer newborn than she was” Nico whispered to Ellie “I can’t help that” Ellie whispered back “I know Ellie.”
Demetri enjoyed training Ellie, teaching her to fight, to protect herself and to take down Felix in a sparring match. Nico even joined the sessions to test Ellie’s skills ahead of her ‘match’ with Felix and was impressed with his sister’s skills.
The sparring match between Ellie and Felix was watched by the whole castle, Caius and Athenodora even held up a banner ‘Go Ellie’ “Not playing favourites at all are we, brother?” Aro asked amused, Caius ignored him and cheered her on, shouting “Well done little one” when Ellie finally pinned Felix down, with his arms bent behind him.
A few nights later Demetri and Sophie were enjoying some quiet time together, reminiscing about the last seventeen years “I know there have been some challenges along the way, but I think we did a great job of blending our families together and raising our children” Demetri said to Sophie “I agree, I mean it was impossible not to fall in love with you and Nico, you’re both so adorable” She replied smiling and he chuckled “Well you and Ellie captured our hearts straight away too, being so cute and human” He smiled against her neck “We’re not human anymore” “I know, I am the one who turned you both…remember” He kissed her neck and she hummed “I remember everything, including Ellie capturing your heart on the plane, even if you didn’t realise it at the time” “Nico captured yours at the park the moment you saw him, mi amore” She nodded and snuggled back into him, as they sat on the sofa, the fire crackling low.
Ellie and Nico were standing in their parent’s doorway “Bless them, they’re strolling down memory lane” Ellie said to Nico, her voice teasing “They’re right though, there have been challenges but we’ve overcome them as a family. For the record Ellie, I fell in love with you the moment I saw you. You were so small and cuddly” He told her smiling “You were cute too bro, and I appreciate that you spent so much time with me as we grew up, even though you aged quicker than me” She looked up at him and smiled “You’re my sister and I liked spending time with you, I still do now. I found you fascinating as you grew up. Most impressive though was how you won over the Kings, including Caius, but I think putting the vampires in a timeout helped you two bond” He chuckled at the memory “What can I say, I’m just so darn loveable” She replied smiling. “That you are” Demetri agreed smiling over his shoulder at his children “I’m looking forward to spending forever as a family” Sophie added smiling.

I’ve had a couple of people request this, so here ya go: my masterlist for the SPN Deserved Better 31 Days Creative Challenge hosted by the wonderful @foundfamily4eva , in which I basically tried to fix canon for as many of the characters as I could, not just Team Free Will 2.0 + Eileen (although those five all definitely got the endings they deserved, too!).
Romance-wise, the following ships got at least one work featuring that ship as the sole/primary one: Destiel, Saileen, Midam, Dreamhunter, Dodio, AU Charlie/Stevie, Amara/Rowena.
Individual character/platonic pair-wise, here are the characters who got at least one work featuring them as the primary character(s): Alex Jones, Bela Talbot, Becky Rosen, Benny Lafitte & Emma Winchester, Bobby Singer & Rufus Turner, Cas & Claire Novak, Cas & Jack Kline, Jack Kline & Amara, Jack & Kelly Kline, Donatello Redfield, Gabriel & Meg, Gadreel, Kaia Nieves, Kevin & Linda Tran, Miracle the Dog.
(Crowley is also getting his happy ending, but what was supposed to be a short fic is currently at about 10k, so I’ve split that off into a separate project that will be up within a few weeks.)
Lastly, some honorable mentions/characters that got their happy endings in minor roles in other fics: Alicia & Max Banes, Aaron Bass, AU Bobby Singer, Ellen & Jo Harvelle & Ash, Jenny the Vampire (well...not happy for her: I managed to kill her off twice in two separate fics and in ways that were infinitely more satisfying than in canon and was very happy about it 😄).
All fics are canonverse fix-its and are listed below the cut, grouped roughly by primary ship/featured character(s) and with summaries, approximate word counts, and links to Ao3 when cross-posting occurred.
I hope these bring as much closure to those who read them as they did to me while I wrote them, and if they make you feel any sort of way, I’d love to hear about it via likes/comments/reblogs/asks! 💙

Every few days I think about how if Supernatural’s writers were just planning on killing of Cas and then never mentioning him again with the original ending involving the possibility of just a brief cameo of him in Heaven weirdly partying with (dead?) Kansas, I probably would’ve preferred it if Cas didn’t have a confession scene.
Ok here me out. Yes I ship DeanCas/Destiel. Yes I loved that there was at least acknowledgment of Cas’ romantic feelings towards Dean. Misha has outright said the confession was romantic and there have already been two official dubs in two different languages where the “I love you” specifically uses phrases that show romantic love. It’s not up for debate anymore if those feelings were romantic.
But if they were just going to throw that in there and get rid of Cas and never mention him again except for two scenes where he doesn’t appear and one that is just Lucifer pretending to be him to gain access to the bunker, I would’ve preferred it if Cas’ true happiness was something that I think would’ve been the ultimate acknowledgement of Cas’ transformation, which I feel would’ve been Jack calling Cas his dad and telling his dad how much he loves him. Of all three members of Team Free Will 1.0, Cas has been the most like a dad to Jack. Cas was the one who eventually helped Kelly hide, prepared a home for Jack and Kelly to live in, for Jack to be raised in safe and loved and cared for. Cas was the one prepared to go down fighting to protect Jack before Jack was even born. Cas is the one who always runs to Jack, to protect Jack, to save Jack, even if it means creating a rift between him, Sam, and Dean.
I love my Sam Winchester is Jack Kline’s Father fics, and my Dean Winchester is Jack Kline’s Father fics, and my Team Free Will 1.0 are Jack Kline’s Fathers fic on ao3 . I do. But if we’re talking about in the show, Cas is the one who is the most like a father to Jack.
Love Dean and wish that man had been given therapy and anger management and AA meetings and working to become a better, less violent person who takes accountability for what he’s done as his finale ending rather than just dying by a fucking nail through the chest, something Cordelia on Buffy The Vampire Slayer survives after like a twenty foot drop from a staircase. But Dean outright hates Jack during his widower arc and makes it known how much of a monster he thinks Jack is to the point where Jack repeatedly tries to commit suicide and then it’s just never really brought up again after Cas comes back and Dean then just goes back and forth on whether he thinks Jack is part of his family or not for the last three seasons. As much as I like the few scenes where Dean is actually bonding with Jack and calls him “their kid” and Jack referring to himself as a Winchester, Dean isn’t really Jack’s dad in the show. Do I think this probably would’ve been a different story if we got baby Jack? Yes, but that’s not what I’m talking about right now
Sam? Sam definitely tries at first. Sam gets what it’s like to feel like a monster and be viewed as one even when your not, and calls out Dean for how he acts and behaves towards Jack. But Dean just as easily calls out Sam for using Jack to try and get their mother back and trying to appear invested in Jack to get what he wants. Sam’s affection for Jack is conditional at first. He gradually grows to be more paternal to Jack but by season 14, it kind of just dwindles away. We got all this buildup of Sam and Jack’s relationship, which yes there should’ve been because here you have someone who was supposed to be the True Vessel of Lucifer, the Boy King of Hell and the Antichrist, the Son of Lucifer, and there’s not really any care given to it afterwards. That season was probably the last time the writers actually did anything interesting with Sam and tried to give him an arc in my opinion.
Cas though? Cas, who was a warrior of God that led garrisons and killed the offspring nephilim of lesser angels? Cas who grows a respect and admiration for humanity, seeing them as complex miraculous beings rather than hairless apes like the majority of the angels? Cas who defends humanity’s existence against other angels even at the cost of his life? Cas who originally thought of the Antichrist as a monster that needed to be killed to protect humanity but heard Kelly talk about how good she believed her child could be despite being the son of the devil and saw a paradise on earth when he actually communicated with Jack in the womb? Cas who separated from the only other two people he has consistently turned to for help and has provided help for in order to try and ensure Jack would be a child safe and loved even if it meant being away from the people he considered family and could die protecting Jack and Kelly? Cas who unconditionally loves and treats Jack as his child throughout the last three season? He is definitely Jack’s father.
I just think there’s something very fitting about the angel who unconditionally loved humanity despite never being able to entirely follow god’s orders raising the supposed antichrist who becomes a god that respects humanity’s free will. And I think that scene would’ve been fantastic in that Cas loves Jack as his child so much that he makes that deal with the Empty in the first place to protect Jack , but Cas loves Jack so much that Jack is the reason the deal is broken. Jack doesn’t realize Cas thinks of him as his child the same way Cas doesn’t think Jack sees him as his dad, and that recognition that they feel the same way is the most bittersweet moment in the world because their first moment where they mutually knowingly recognize each other as parent and child seems like it might be the last one they have together as they hug. Jack sobs while furiously apologizing as he sees black goo come to reach Cas who only has a few more second left to kiss the top of his child’s head and hug him close and say something like “I love you so much my son” before pushing him away while Jack watches, crying as he calls out “Dad don’t leave me” as his father get covered in black goo while smiling with tears streaming down his face before disappearing.
I’m not sure how that situation could’ve occurred. Maybe Jack and Cas are together when people start disappearing, and Jack worries about how if Chuck doesn’t consider him important enough to torment he could also be proofed away, and he wants to tell his dad how much he loves him in that way kids do when they think they might see their parents for the last time and despite being in basically an adult body Jack is still three and not really thinking about what could happen or doesn’t even think this could be Cas’ happiest moment because he always thought Cas knew Jack thought of him as his dad. I don’t know.
But that scene happens and the Empty collects Cas and then when Jack becomes god and brings everyone back, he somehow also brings Cas back from the empty. Look the writers gave absolutely no good reason for why Lucifer somehow came back from the empty in 15x19 when the Empty specifically states that Chuck has no power in her domain so why should I? But I guess if I was going to it would’ve involved Jack finding out how it got loud in the empty and bargaining with the Empty in trading demons, angels, and other nephilim in exchange for making the empty quiet again and managing to deal with what to do with all of these now revived supernatural creatures. Still frustrated that the show made God the enemy and turned Billie into a last minute villain when the Empty was right the, the Enpty was hyped up, and then it just took Cas and Billie and disappeared, and was never heard from again.
Anyways, Jack and Amara separate but they’re still functioning as a unit and are working together to fix the other universes as well as heaven and the systems of who gets sent to heaven, hell, and purgatory in a sort of season 4 of the Good Place style, and Cas takes on a major role as the celestial being with the most interaction with and understanding of humanity, especially with that time he was a homeless human under his belt to provide his own reflection on why certain people may do things that are wrong like stealing in order to provide just a basic need for themselves like stealing food to eat. It’s implied that Rowena’s involved in this too. Cas and Jack say their goodbyes to Sam and Dean. If I had it my way, the finale would end up being like the one I made up in an earlier post where Sam and Dean get their beach day but realize that their relationship isn’t healthy for either of them and separate and the viewer no longer has access to what they do with their lives afterwards because Sam and Dean now have control of their own stories and decide who gets to see it. But I guess what I made up fixes some general overarching complaints about the last three episodes. I still hate that last episode and what I feel is the assassination of 15 years of character development of Sam and Dean in order to go back to S1 with Sam as the main character and Dean as the side character interrupting his life but I just barely acknowledge it as the show’s finale.
I do love the confession scene. I really do. But if it was just going to end with Cas dying a minute after confessing his love and never being seen or acknowledged again, I would’ve much rather preferred it being that his happiest moment was being with his child in the endless feedback loop of familial love.

Part Ten: Prophecy's Boy
Theo Frey’s affiliation with the first slayer was a strange one, his entire life mission was to become a slayer to eradicate all slayers, especially his birth mother Buffy Summers, and yet during a prehistoric time when everything and everyone was stripped away from him he had reluctantly formed some form of friendship with the primeval Sineya, bonding through their chaotic creation and so he joined her on some of her adventures in slaying until he was brought back to the present time, back to his current grievances, and surrounded by those ready for him to take his revenge. Theo never realized how deeply Sineya impacted her life until he saw her spirit on vampire island, her serving as a reminder to him of a simpler time where he lived his life without vengeance and how that led him to do good alongside the first slayer until he returned to evil crutches of vampire Drusilla and as the vampire/slayer hybrid stood right next to the unopened Hellmouth in the caves of vampire island, being surrounded by an undead army, he couldn’t help but think of the time he spent with Sineya. “They only call you a king because they do not truly know what you really are neither do you yet,” Sineya said to him through her telepathic ways, her words piercing his mind as she appeared as a spirit only, he could see, standing next to him. “Slayer of slayers is just another name, Theo, nothing but a name but none are what you really are…this is now what you truly are.” Theo looked around at his undead army to see if anyone else could see the first slayer knowing deep down that she was only appearing to him, appealing to a good side of him he thought he could bury forever, as she urged him to not bring about the end of the world, to change his ways, and accept his true destiny. “They need to pay they need to all pay!” Theo shouted, grabbing the attention of his fellow vampires who instantly cheered him on, believing that his words were words of war before he would proceed to open the Hellmouth. “They have paid the price already, as have you, and even her…there’s nothing left to pay except your destiny, and this is not it!” The primeval one replied to him telepathically with her cryptic words being said in his mind. “Your blood and your blood alone will open the mouth of hell, but you are so much more than your blood, a prophecy has been calling you long before your birth it is up to you if you want to continue ignoring it for a mission of vengeance or if you want to become what you were truly created to be.” Suddenly, Sineya’s spirit disappeared once again as Buffy, Faith, Angel, Spike, Illyria, Xander, Ruby, and Giles ran into the caves to meet Theo and his army, all equipped with weapons and ready to go to war if needed to stop Theo from opening the Hellmouth, as the slayer of slayer realized that one way or another, he was not making it out of Vampire Island alive…
Theo and his dedicated team of vampires fought against Buffy, Faith, Angel, Spike, Illyria, Xander, Ruby, and Giles viciously as Theo himself went head to head with the blue-haired goddess Illyria, the one who killed his undead lover Tobias, throwing a series of punches and kicks at the old one, making little to no impact, before Illyria proceeded to fight back against the slayer of slayers gaining the upper hand with ease as she showed her superior strength while beating Theo into submission as he fell to the ground, ready to be killed by the same woman who had killed the love of his life, but Angel quickly left his ongoing fight to rush over to his son’s side, eager to save him from being killed by Illyria. “He is my son Illyria, please do not kill my son.” Angel pleaded with his friend, who reluctantly began to walk away from both Angel and Theo before taking to fight in the ongoing war surrounding them. “I may have your DNA or whatever but you’re not my father, you never raised me as my dad did, you weren’t there like he was, and you will never take his place.” Theo snapped at his undead father as he slowly got back to his feet, bruised, and bloodied from injuries he had sustained in his fight against the blue-haired goddess. “You look pretty beaten up; she really did a number on you huh?” Angel replied, choosing to ignore his son’s cruel words. “I know you a slaypire or whatever now but somehow you managed to keep your soul, I’ve never heard of a vampire doing that before I mean I have a soul, but I’m cursed…literally. Yet again you are also the first male slayer, which is another mystery.” “We’ve come too far to stop now my army will not stop until my blood opens that Hellmouth over there…unless there is no blood to be spilled,” Theo responded, as he began to realize that he still had the chance to do the right thing, something which was only validated when the spirit of the primeval slayer appeared to him once again, this time standing next to Angel, who was oblivious of her presence. This time Sineya did not have to communicate telepathically with the slayer of slayers because the look on her face told Theo everything he had to know, her look told him that he had forced a destiny on himself that was never truly meant to be and now all he was left to do was decide whether he let that same destiny lead to him destroying the world or if he was able to do the right thing for the first time, as he suddenly began to finally feel his own humanity beginning to creep back in, as he felt all the pain and suffering he caused to his many victims, through his many evil deeds, as he concluded there was the only way to make up any kind of penance for the monster he had become. “You are right,” Theo admitted to the spirit of Sineya, confusing an unknowing Angel in the process. “There’s only one way my blood cannot be spilled and that is if there is none.” Theo quickly grabbed the wooden stake he spotted in Angel’s jacket pocket and plunged it into his own chest knowing that turning to dust was the only solution out of the hell he would otherwise cause onto this world, leaving his biological father Angel in a state of pure shock and horror as he screamed out “No” with the strength of all his voice, catching Buffy’s attention who turned away from her fight just in time to watch alongside Angel as the son they shared together turned to dust before their very eyes. Suddenly, a red smoke, like the one that had turned Theo into a slayer, formed above Theo’s ashes before it began to spread itself throughout the cave growing bigger as it did so, proceeding to attack, ingest, violate, and turn Theo’s undead army into bursts of flames before they eventually turned to dust leaving Buffy, Angel, and their friends stunned by their bittersweet victory, one that came at a great cost.
The End…NOT
“Hello?” Theo called out as he walked into a darkly lit rundown bar, before noticing a sign saying Willy’s Place, as he proceeded to walk over to the bar counter noticing the place was completely empty, the vibe completely dead, as he began to wonder if this was hell, heaven, or something in-between, when suddenly he felt a warm feeling rush through him, that which felt like love in its purest form and as he turned out he was shocked to find a woman stood behind him, with the softest smile he had ever seen. “You may not know me but I’m your grandmother, from your mother’s side.” Joyce greeted her stepson, the two have never met before. “I know this all must be very confusing for you but I’m here to help while I can.” “Not to be rude or anything but are you not supposed to be like dead or something?” Theo replied as he struggled to get his head around whatever the hell was going on. “Well yes, but then again so are you.” Joyce laughed off innocently. “You know you look a lot like your father, but you have your mother’s heart, no matter how much you try to hide it and that smile of yours is truly beautiful I just wish there were more opportunities for you to show the world that smile.” “They are not my parents; my parents died a long time ago and I am sorry, but you are not my grandmother either.” Theo snapped at his biological grandmother, although his snap was nowhere near as bitter as it once was. “Is this hell?” “No honey it is not hell nor is it heaven, consider this your second chance,” Joyce informed him cryptically. “You walked a path you were never meant to walk and the powers that be are just trying to get you back onto the right path, instead of fighting for another destiny why not try embracing the one that’s already yours?” Theo had no idea what Joyce Summers meant by her words but before he could ask her, he found himself magically being transported from Willy’s Place in the now non-existent Sunnydale to the rundown Hyperion Hotel in Los Angeles, where he walked into the lobby to find a beautiful dark blonde-haired woman stood behind the reception desk with a bright smile on her face that told him she was expecting him. “So, you are my guy’s second son I get vampires normally do not have to worry about you know condoms and stuff, but you’d think after the first son tried to kill, he’d wrap it up from there on out but then again if he’s not worried about losing his soul then he’s probably now worrying about impregnating people.” Cordelia Chase said, greeting Theo as he walked over to her. “You’re all kinds of messed up perhaps more so than Connor and he was raised in a freaking hell dimension by some unhinged hunter who very rudely blew up my friend’s club with us in it nonetheless but hey at least you’re not as bad as Angelus now that is the part of your father that you do not want to take after!” “So, which ghost from Buffy or Angel’s past are you then? Are you Angel’s mother?” Theo asked Cordelia, much to her own disgust, which was clear on her face, making Theo realize she must have been a former lover. “Oh, so you’re not Darla which I doubt because Connor’s her son…leaving you being none other than pretty little rich girl turned high being broke bitch miss Cordelia Chase. I must admit of all the stories I heard about the infamous scooby gang, yours were always the most amusing!” “Well, I guess you got your daddy’s brains, and his looks tell me which part of you is Buffy?” Cordelia wondered. “None I hope!” Theo quickly responded, making Cordelia cackle. “Good one sniveling little cry Buffy is more than enough for my liking.” Cordelia joked with the son of the man she once loved, before going on to hand Theo a room key. “A little friendly warning this guy is no friend of your mum or dads so be wary also his face is all kinds of yuck but hey we’re supposed to give you the full unbiased experience but seriously his face is not going to be easy on your pretty little eyes.”
“So, you are the son of the slayer and Angelus…I have been expecting you, my boy.” The Master announced as Theo walked into the hotel room to find the legendary vampire stood waiting to introduce himself. “From your actions, you are more of Angelus’ child than Angel’s which pleases me immensely to know the girl who slew me now has a beast within her own bloodline. However, I hope there is some of the slayer's DNA in you too after all she was the only one to ever beat me.” “You must be The Master, Dru mentioned you once or twice there sure is a lot of hype about you in your heyday you know before Buffy beat you like some newbie vamp,” Theo replied, mocking the master of vampires. “Tobias bought into all that hype but me not so much…so why the hell are you the latest stop on my supernatural soul train?” “You have this arrogance about you that most definitely reminds me of your mother but unlike her you have been beaten time and time again, therefore, making this arrogance of yours truly unearned.” The Master responded, taking a swipe at the son of the slayer in the process. “Mummy spanked you so hard you turned to dust, I think it’s about time you lose the attitude when in the presence of someone who earned their legacy in this world and the next!” “Now don’t start talking about spanking unless your intent is to turn me on.” Theo recklessly flirted with the infamous vampire. “You have what I call a pillow face, but I can work with it if you want to get freaky…” “Right!” Anya Jenkins shouted before storming into the hotel room, The Master quickly vanishing out of sight the moment Anya entered the room. “I’m taking into this appointment because that is just seriously unsettling, and I’d rather not metaphorically spew all over Buffy’s boy as I try to knock some sense into you.” “Oh, great another bloody ghost from their past!” Theo complained as he turned to face the former vengeance demon, quickly becoming tired of whatever the hell was going on around him. “I’m Anya formerly known as Anyanka formerly known as a vengeance demon, one of the best vengeance demons actually then I almost married your mother’s friend Xander until you know he ditched me at the altar and long before he knocked up the little brat we used to babysit,” Anya answered him, clearly unamused with Xander’s choice of partner to co-parent with. “Now I’m just Anya an ally to the powers that be, who’d have thought it…certainly not me anyway.” “Here’s the thing, I’m growing really tired of this bullshit, and after sacrificing myself for I guess the greater good I could really just do with a nap or something. I am so not in the mood for whatever is going on here nor do I give a damn that your man dumped you for someone younger it happens love get over it!” Theo quickly dismissed the former vengeance. “Sorry that your dead but I’m dead too so how about you go haunt the living? I suggest that knucklehead builder who broke your heart especially considering he has a thing for building prisons now and needs a good little scare for that alone.” “Listen here you little snot-nosed slayer, vamp, brat! I am over a thousand years old, and I will not be spoken to that by someone who is technically an error on human history.” Anya snapped back at the slayer of slayers. “Go get yourself a drink or something! Let someone else deal with you, I’m asking for a pay raise…come to think of it, does money still smell as good as it used to?” As Theo became more and more convinced that he was in hell, Anya took the look on his disapproving face to say he wasn’t going to answer her question, and instead of sticking around to force it out of him, she proceeded to leave the hotel room eager to get back to her own afterlife knowing that the next person to visit Theo would definitely be able to put up with his attitude better than she could, or rather was willing to.
Theo didn’t hang around for long before he decided to search for this infamous hotel bar that Anya had suggested to him, wondering if there was even a bar within this rundown, seemingly abandoned place, but after going up and down several floors he finally found the bar the former vengeance demon was referring to as he opened the door, walked through, and suddenly found himself transported to the dive bar he shared with Tobias, only Tobias was not behind the bar, a mousy blonde-haired woman was, a bewitching beauty. “It’s funny the places you wind up when you are not even going in that direction or at least so you thought. It’s hard to accept new paths that are laid out for you but sooner or later you just got to, or you spend forever unhappy and forever’s a very long time.” Tara Maclay informed Theo as he walked over to the bar counter, trying to work out who this bartender was and why they were in some dream-world version of his home. “I much prefer this bar to the last one I’ll give you that,” Theo admitted as he sat down on a barstool and waited for Tara to pour him a glass of whisky on the rocks, to which he quickly downed in one gulp upon being served it. “Which ghost of Buffy and Angel’s past are you?” “I was once Tara, now I’m something else entirely, I am no longer her, and yet her memories remain. It’s funny how they don’t tell you about that when you become a higher being nor do they tell you that despite how much you want to you can never truly reclaim your past, you can never truly get back to where you really want to be.” Tara revealed to the slayer of slayers, as Theo remembered a conversation, he had with Willow about a woman she had love and lost, and how her name was Tara. “I know she feels the same way,” Theo reassured her in a rare act of kindness, as he reached out to hold her hand to comfort the clearly saddened spirit. “See that’s the kindness, that’s signs of your soul, one that was too powerful to be destroyed by demons or anything else that has been thrown at you.” Tara genuinely replied as Theo took his hand back, uncomfortable by showing what he considered to be a weakness but was actually just plain old sympathy. “You have been fighting on the wrong side for all the wrong reasons Theo and I know you know that now even if you don’t want to admit it to yourself you want redemption, more than that you need it.” “Even if you were right, I’m dead now all done and dusted far too late to even try redeeming myself for all the terrible things I have done,” Theo replied, not wanting to admit to the former witch turned higher being that she was right, that he did want redemption, that he wanted to amend for the things he has done, that he had finally seen the error of his ways, and his hatred was placed in all the wrong places. “Oh, sweetie you’re not dead you’re just on a time out, which is sort of over now,” Tara replied before Tristan found himself being transported one last time, only this time he had been transported back to vampire island, to the very spot he had staked himself, standing in his own leftover ashes as he looked around the abandoned caves more confused than ever before as he tried to work out what he had just experienced, why he was back on that island, and what would happen next. “I told you there was another destiny for you, my friend,” Sineya revealed telepathically as her words once again pierced their way into Theo’s mind after her spirit appeared in front of the former slayer of slayers. “And now it has begun…you are no longer the slayer of slayers or the vampire with a soul intact, now you are at one with the very demon itself, this is your destiny!”

Round 1: Maihar'du (Star Trek: Deep Space 9) vs Hubert Von Vestra (Fire Emblem Three Houses)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Propaganda Under Cut]
Maihar'du: He doesn't talk, he's always at the Nagus' shoulder (always - he once transported into a closet with the nagus) He's such a devoted bodyguard he tips off the crew of DS9 that the Nagus faked his death because he was not guarding the 'new' nagus, but was a not-so-dead Zek. He is also twice the size of any Ferengi, which adds an element of intimidation - always important for a bodyguard *The Grand Nagus is the leader of an alien race the Ferengi. He sucks
Hubert Von Vestra: The Evil Advisor trope if said evil advisor actually wanted desperately to change the world for the better and protect his found family but was also still a sneaky greasy gremlin of a man.

Warm | Bloodletting
Nosdecember day 11 | @neworleansspecial
Occult!Au; Connor’s trauma makes him feel cold and alone, but Ethan is there to help him through it
CW: abuse mention, murder mention, ptsd
***
Ethan would like to say that the screaming surprised him when it woke him from a dead sleep. That would be a lie though, since it had become an almost nightly feat as of late. So when he sat up upon hearing the muffled sobs and sound of shuffling across the dark cabin, he thought it would be like any other evening. That was until he heard the door slam shut, preceding a loud boom of thunder.
That was what had him on his feet, sliding on his slippers and rushing into the hallway in seconds. Will had emerged from his resting place on his old futon too, hair disheveled from sleep and looking at Ethan blearily.
“Did he..?”
“Yeah,” Ethan sighed, “I think he did.”
“Do you want me to go look for him?” The youngest werewolf looked exhausted, having been hunting all afternoon for the pack and for the vampires too. He was still wary around Ava and Estia but he supposed this agreement wasn’t too bad. At least if he was providing them with animal blood then it meant no wandering humans were at risk. Still, he wasn’t used to so much activity and hadn’t completely adjusted to the act of changing forms comfortably. Needless to say, the last thing Will wanted to do was go running after an upset Connor at midnight.
“No, I’ve got him,” Ethan shook his head and was already tugging on his boots, “He’ll be upset.”
Before Will could press the matter any more, Ethan had already slipped out into the storm. He didn’t bring an umbrella, though he did have the forethought to tuck Connor’s jacket under his arm since the other hadn’t bothered. He wasn’t sure which direction Connor had gone in and the rain interferes with his scent, so Ethan just started walking.
This was, unfortunately, more common as of late. Connor continued to have nightmares about his mother, ones he told Ethan about one night before Will had joined him. His mind often ran through the events of her murder, making him relive the trauma from his teenaged years every night. After his father’s death, at the hands of Connor himself, the nightmares got worse. He barely slept anymore and when he did he almost always woke up screaming.
Connor’s main issue was his coping mechanisms, or lack thereof. Ethan knew his dad had been abusive and would frequently punish Connor for showing any weakness. He knew that he grew up emotionally stunted, used to hiding his feelings and pushing everything down. Cornelius wanted a soldier, a strong heir to the clan; he didn’t have time for a soft son. It didn’t do Connor any good, especially not now.
He didn’t know how to cope, didn’t know how to express his emotions. He never had the chance to properly grieve for his mother and had to make the regretful decision to kill his own father. That was a series of events that would haunt the werewolf for the rest of his immortal life. It made Ethan worry.
Luckily it didn’t take too much walking before he spotted his friend. Connor was crouched on the ground by the riverbank, head in his hands. He wasn’t crying, not audibly, but Ethan could see his shoulders shaking. He was probably freezing, even though lycanthropy made their body temperatures run higher than normal; being out in a rainstorm shirtless is good for no one.
“Connor?”
“I’m fine, Ethan,” his mumbled reply sounded so dejected that it confirmed he was, in fact, not fine. Ethan didn’t say anything though, just came closer and wrapped his coat around Connor’s shoulders.
“You’ll catch your death out here.”
“That’s so dramatic,” Ethan could have swore he heard the eye roll from Connor, “I’ll live, unfortunately.”
“Hey, don’t,” Ethan didn’t like the sound of that. He knew they all had trauma and bad memories to work through, this wasn’t news. Yeah, life as a tiny pack of werewolves wasn’t easy and immortality was the opposite of comfortable. Still, Ethan wouldn’t let one of his pack suffer, especially not with whatever war was going on in Connor’s mind.
Somehow he managed to drag Connor to his feet, wincing at how bloodshot his golden eyes were. Connor hated appearing weak, immediately tried to shy away from him, but Ethan persisted. He wasn’t used to comfort, didn’t remember what it was like to be consoled or cared for. Even still, it didn’t take long before Ethan had coaxed Connor into a hug.
That was the breaking point, the moment where his façade shattered and the scared, abused boy came back to the surface. He hated this, hated that he so easily broke down, but it was what he really needed. Ethan just stood there, holding Connor as he sobbed into his shoulder. His whispered reassurances were barely audible over the rumbling thunder and the river beside them, but it was okay. Connor was just grateful to have him there, even if he didn’t want to admit it.
They stood like that for a while, until Connor’s arms had officially went numb. His tears did stop, save for some poorly stifled sniffles and sound that could only be classified as a whimper. It hurt Ethan to see him like this, the strong and ever confident man he had grown to admire since they met breaking down. He was broken, traumatized, and all Ethan could do was watch as his brain forced him to relive the worst parts of his life.
“You’re safe, Connor,” Ethan promised, “I’ve got you.”
“He-“
“I know. I’m sorry.”
The other man pulled back enough to meet his eyes and the pain that crossed his face was immense, “I- I don’t want to be a... a monster.”
“Hey,” warm hands found Connor’s cheeks, brushing away the tears and forcing eye contact, “You’re not a monster. You aren’t him.”
“But...” Connor exhaled shakily, “I- he said...”
“He was a liar and he hurt you. What happened was bad but you did what you thought was right. You probably saved a lot of lives that day, Connor, including your own. The fact that you even feel guilt for this means you aren’t a monster.”
“P-promise?”
Ethan nodded immediately, not giving him a chance to doubt his words. That alone helped Connor visibly relax, though he still looked like he wanted to run away and never stop.
“Let’s go home, okay?”
Connor wanted to protest, not wanting Will to see him like this. He wanted to keep some of his dignity, leave some semblance of his pride intact. Still, he was cold and so tired. He just wanted to sleep, though he knew the second he surrendered to the exhaustion that the dreams would be back.
“Tired...”
“I know,” Ethan agreed as he led him back down the forest path. He kept an arm around Connor’s waist, giving him a sense of stability because he knew everything was too much at that point. They walked in silence, both soaked from the rain and chilled to the bone. Ethan would light a fire when they got back, he promised, then Connor could rest.
Will wasn’t awake when they returned, knowing better than to pester Connor after a panic attack. While the other wolf trusted him, he didn’t like to show weakness around their newest friend and Will understood that. Their bond could strengthen eventually and maybe then Connor would let himself be more vulnerable, until then he could just let Ethan keep him safe.
It took a bit of coaxing to get Connor to sit down on the couch. He wanted to retreat to his room but Ethan wouldn’t let him, citing that he would only get sick if he went to bed so cold. So Connor ended up bundled in a blanket, looking rather poorly as he watched the other light the small wood stove across the room.
Maybe it was the warmth of the room when the fire started up. Maybe it was the exhaustion from his panic. Perhaps it was all of those things, plus the way Ethan sat down beside him and opened his arms without a word. Whatever the cause, Connor let himself lean into the comfort. No words to be had, that would be too embarrassing, they just sat in the silence.
The warmth was comforting, something that had been majorly missing from his life for years. It was weird but not in a bad way. For the first time, Connor felt safe, wrapped in a soft blanket and with his head on Ethan’s shoulder. Ethan didn’t mention it, just ran a hand up and down his arm in a soothing motion. Connor couldn’t help but melt into the touch because it was the most genuine affection he had felt in years. Even if he couldn’t express it properly, he was so grateful for this moment.
Ethan made him feel safe, cared for. He never judged him and he was always so patient. The way he logically navigated every situation and knew how to keep him calm was something Connor would forever admire. That was when Connor realized that just as much as he had saved Ethan when he first got turned, the other wolf had begun to save him too.

8x12: As Time Goes By
Then:
Tumblr media
A family with a lifetime of happiness ahead of them!
Now:
1958:
In Normal, Illinois, a young boy is woken by his father wishing him sweet dreams and that he’ll see him in the morning. The father then heads off to work to a Men of Letters secret hideout. (Erm, I just looked at the episode order, we don’t know about the Men of Letter yet. Spoiler!) Anyway, the man enters and finds his colleague, Josie, waiting for him. It seems they’re getting initiated into some kind of secret society.
A hooded man beckons Josie inside first. As the man waits, he hears screams. He dashes inside to find pure chaos. A robed man with bleeding eyes gives him something, pleading, “Henry, do not let Abaddon get it.”
Tumblr media
Josie is really Abaddon! She sees Henry and he takes off running, with Abaddon in close pursuit. He locks himself in a room and starts making a potion for a spell. He makes a sigil on a door, chants his spell, and jumps right into Sam and Dean’s motel room. “Which of you is John Winchester?”
Tumblr media
They demand to know who he is. When he doesn’t answer, Dean body slams him against the wall. Still, he insists that one of them must know John Winchester. They want answers from him --but he merely tells them there’s been a mistake and tries leaving. Unfortunately, at the mention of John, Sam and Dean are on high alert, so they handcuff the guy, which he breaks from instantly and escapes. (Sam and Dean are now handcuffed to the chair.)
A man out of time, Henry gloms onto the one thing that looks even remotely like home --the Impala. He checks the date on the license plate and then breaks the window (!) to break into the car.
Tumblr media
(Man, I think Dean gets his flair for dramatics from his grandfather because Sam just walked up and opened the passenger side door --doofus just had to open that door and slide over to steal the car.)
Back at the motel, the brothers test him for everything, but holy water doesn’t take out arrogance. John won’t talk to alpha-male monkey men. Dean lets it slip that John Winchester is his father. Before Henry can parse that fact, Abaddon busts through the door. She wants what he has.
Tumblr media
Henry pleads with Josie, the woman Abaddon possessed, but gets nowhere. That’s okay, because Dean’s got his demon knife, and stabs her in the back!
But, uh, it was more like stepping on a lego than death for her, so the boys and Henry run.
The three of them pull over when they reach safety and Henry explains that Abaddon is a demon from Hell, and he is from 1958.
Tumblr media
He needs to see John Winchester. Dean breaks the news that John Winchester is dead. Henry breaks the news that he’s John’s father.
Sam believes him. Dean is #TeamJohn (ofc) and says that Henry left when John was just a kid. Sam wonders if this was the reason --he traveled to another time and couldn’t make it home.
Tumblr media
(Sidenote: I love that Sam’s willing to give his time traveling deadbeat grandfather more of a chance than the vampire that SAVED his brother’s life...hrmf. But it does play nicely with both brothers --Henry has to earn Dean’s loyalty, family or not.)
The family bonding includes discussing why Abaddon didn’t die from Ruby’s knife, shoving Abaddon back where she came, and learning about blood spells that require the use of the human soul. Henry is confused why the brothers don’t know about the last bit. “You’re Men of Letters, correct?”
Tumblr media
Sam breaks the sad news that they’re hunters. Henry keeps winning Dean over by calling hunters “apes.” He then calls them legacies. “Legacies of what?”
Henry takes them to the Men of Letters secret hideout. It’s currently a comic shop.
Tumblr media
Henry explains what Men of Letters are and why it’s important that the brothers carry on the family legacy. “So you’re like Yodas to our Jedis?” Yes DEAN yes.
Sam wonders why they’ve never heard of the Men of Letters. “Abaddon,” Henry concludes, and heads inside. He has the mysterious box still and wants to find another Men of Letters to help them stop Abaddon.
(Funny time travel generational jokes ensue.)
Sam borrows a laptop and finds the article detailing the night of Abaddon’s attack. Henry hears the name Albert Magnus, and boom, they’re walking around a dark cemetery. Magnus was a code word for other Men of Letters-- to alert them that something was amiss. He sees another grave marker and realizes that the message is here, and asks his grandsons, “You boys ever exhume a body?”
Tumblr media
At the comic shop, Abaddon strolls in like she invented dark ennui. She reels the young clerk towards her, steals her memories, covets her shirt, and...sends the clerk off on a wonderful, all-expense paid vacation to San Diego Comic Con! That’s...definitely what happened.
In the cemetery, Dean and Sam dig out the body because they are SUCKERS while their grandpa sits his aging bones cleanly on the edge of the grave and oversees their work. Henry doesn’t know the body buried  in the coffin, but he’s ready to investigate! He thinks a survivor may have stolen the identity of the buried body and may be still alive somewhere. Time to get moving! As soon as the Winchester boys rebury the body!

Back in the motel, I have to interrupt the recap for Motel Room Decoration Porn.
Tumblr media
Henry whistles “As time goes by” like it’s a super normal thing to lounge around whistling songs while your future grandchildren research demons. They reminisce about the song. Henry bought a music box that played that song for John when he was a boy, to comfort him when he was scared. This tale brings GREAT comfort and not an OUNCE of jealousy to Dean, who changes the subject. The identity of the body belongs to someone who actually still lives in Lebanon, Kansas, and is terrifically old by now. Sam’s also uncovered a tidbit: according to their dad’s journal, Abaddon is a Knight of Hell. They’re the first-born and purest demons.
Henry muses over John’s journal, and flips the pages to reveal initials engraved in the cover: HW. John was using his father’s journal - the one Henry had purchased to chronicle his own Men of Letters studies after his initiation.
Tumblr media
Henry realizes that he’s not heading back home after this mission. And although Henry is appalled that his son became a hunter instead of an esteemed Men (Man?) of Letters, he runs up against Dean’s defense of John enduring against hardship to become a hunter. While we often grit our teeth when we think of John and parenting in the same breath, I do get the sense that Dean’s defending his own life and choices here too. Dean’s emotions continue to radiate out of every pore like the sun on a cloudless day, because he lashes out at Henry for accepting his fate of never seeing his son again and being more loyal to the Men of Letters than his own family. Dean Bean!
Henry reads through John’s journal. SPOILERS! In the morning, Dean “I’ll never sleep under covers again” Winchester and Sam “How is my hair this perfect” Winchester wake up to discover Henry missing. Henry has left so he can fix everything! GREAT! Happy ending, episode done.
At a small new age shop, Henry demands spell ingredients. He knows they’re there because of the hunter’s signs in the window. The shopkeeper aims a shotgun at his gut.
Tumblr media
Henry offers to buy some wholesome chamomile, and then blows powder at her face while saying a quick incantation. She passes out immediately. f r o w n y f a c e
At the motel, Dean and Sam realize that some spell ingredients, like an angel feather from their trunk, are missing. Henry is trying to cook up another time travel spell! More important than this fact, though, is that Dean and Sam keep angel feathers in the trunk of the Impala! Sometimes I think LOL okay angel wings are ethereal and quasi-metaphorical on this show and sometimes I think THEY HAVE FEATHERS that you CAN TOUCH and my mind slips down soft, feathery wing-kink adjacent side tunnels…...
Ahem.
I’m fine.
News crops up. There’s one dead at Astro Comics.
Tumblr media
Sam interrogates the last-remaining Men of Letters. He tells Sam that Abaddon was a “hired gun” who destroyed everyone. In the box Henry took is the key to every spell, every bit of Men of Letters knowledge.
At the shop, Henry chants his time travel spell. When Dean tries to stop him, Henry tells him that reading John’s journal hurt. Dean reveals that reading his dad’s journal hurts “every damn time.” DAMN YOU DEAN WINCHESTER AND YOUR SOFT NOUGATY HEART!
Henry reveals his plan: he’ll travel back in time to an hour before Abaddon attacks and then THEY’LL have the upper hand. Dean’s concerned: he might not exist if Henry fiddles with the past.
Sam asks the last surviving Men of Letters how to stop Abaddon, but the old man has no useful advice. Instead, he counsels Sam to chuck the key into the secret lair and scram to keep the secrets safe from Abaddon. Then Sam reveals that Dean has the key and Larry’s wife stands up, her eyes flicking to black. It’s Abaddon! She slices up her old foe while Sam tries to scram.
Tumblr media
Abaddon calls Dean and taunts him gleefully. She offers up a deal: Henry and the key in exchange for Sam. Henry’s still resolute about going back in time but Dean won’t risk him failing - not with “Sammy on the hook now.” Dean sleeper holds his grandpa.
At the meeting spot, Dean offers over a grim Henry in exchange for Sam. Yay! Family reunion again!
Tumblr media
Henry circles Abaddon while Sam and Dean try to scamper away. Abaddon traps them though and then stabs Henry through the gut with her BARE HAND. YIKES. Henry shakes it off, though and shoots her through the chin. Oh, he also doesn’t have the box anymore! It’s just a pack of playing cards. “I’ve been played!” Abaddon should have said.
Instead, Abaddon shrieks in rage and then discovers that she’s trapped in place. Abaddon ate a devil’s trap bullet, so her powers are nullified. Dean slices her head off and tells her he’ll carefully dismember her and bury her under cement which is some REAL DARK SHIT MY FRIENDS. It’s actually a comfort to know that he couldn’t follow through on the whole piece-by-piece dismembering!
Dean congratulates Henry on his win, while Henry slowly dies in Sam’s arms. “We’re Winchesters,” Henry tells them. “As long as we’re alive, there’s always hope.” With his dying breath, Henry tells them he’s proud of John because of Sam and Dean and...you know what? It’s a sideways compliment, but I’ll take it.
Sam and Dean bury Henry in the old Men of Letters graveyard. “The Winchester and the Campbells,” Sam reflects on their legacy. “The brains and the brawn.” Dean doesn’t appreciate the poetry of it. He only sees the pain. He also thinks about John’s pain, thinking that Henry abandoned him so many years ago when he died for his grandsons instead. “Freaking time travel, man.”
Sam pulls out Henry’s mysterious box. Time to open it up and see what’s inside! “We are legacies, right?”

What, the Quote-ans?
Is it absolutely essential, sir, that you keep your hands on me?
That’s no way to treat a lady
Seriously? Dudes time-travelling through motel-room closets? That's what we've come to?
Let me get this straight. You traveled through time to protect something that does you-don't-know-what from a demon that you know nothing about?
We had a deal!

Coming out of The Shadows in which a small mutant child Virgil is treated as subhuman because of his uncontrolled ability to manipulate shadows up until a scientist buys him. (Royality)
Falling Stars At My Command in which Roman wishes on a star and Patton reaps the benefits while Logan unfortunately gets dragged along for the ride. (Royality)
Sugar in which Patton has three sons and no free time to bother with a relationship while he’s trying to manage bills. At least until Roman walks into his life. Sugar Daddy anyone? (Royality)

Keep him safe in which Detective Logan falls for the owner of his new favorite bakery while his partner Roman falls for the gang member they’re chasing. Ft: emotions, a pet rat, dealing with delusions 101, trauma, and family so gooey it literally makes me melt whenever it updates. I love this fic so much. (Advertises as Logicality and Prinxiety but theres so much LAMP I can’t not put it down here)
Multitudes in which Virgil works at a coffeeshop, pines over the customers that come in, and wonders why they all tip him so well. (LAMP)
Songbird in which the only thing keeping Virgil’s parents alive is his voice: the moment the (new) King gets tired of listening to him its off with all their heads. And Virgil’s okay with that, he is…. Until three visiting nobles leaving him wishing for his freedom for the first time since he was ten. (LAMP)
Shatter in which Logan gets fed up with not being listened to, and takes some poor advice from Rage, which ends with the entire Mindscape being turned upside down and inside out. Now its up to Deceit fix it all. (aka the author decided it was about high time Deceit got some love and appreciation and I’m out here living for it.) (DAMP)
Incredible Cosmic Power in which Virgil awakens some genies by accident and they refuse to let him go back to living a relatively normal peaceful life. (DLAMP)
Plea for my New Self in which Vampire Virgil decides he wants to start over again, and goes back to college to work on coding. There he proceeds to do reckless good with his absurd amount of wealth and a “fuck it” attitude. Actually one of my favorite things ever okay. I love this one so much. (DLAMP)
Your Wish Is My Command in which Thomas accidentally rubs six lamps and becomes the glorified babysitter to six jinn who definitely don’t trust him. But its fineeee. (DLAMP)

Don’t You, Forget About Me in which the author recreates Breakfast club and does it spectacularly.
Heart’s Heroes in which Patton may be a villain but that does not mean he wants to see the child heroes of the city dead.
Mortals and Fae in which Deceit barely escapes the wrath of his town when they all turn against him. Dying, he stumbles into a fairy circle hoping that with his name the fae make his death short and sweet. Big Shock for him when he wakes up with a Fairy Prince swearing to protect him.
Sanders Family in which Thomas adopts six kids and has no regrets about it.
How Not to Go About an Important Inspection in which after a devastating betrayal the crew of the USS Bifrost is docked for repairs and the crew just wants to go back to being a normal family but Command is insisting on an inspection to ensure nothing so…drastic occurs again.
Symbiotic in which certain Vampires have a vemon that leaves with victims craving getting their blood drunken. Deceit, one of these Victims, continues to burn bridges because that’s easier than admitting he might need help dealing with this.

Imani Colt → Nicole Beharie → Hunter
→ Basic Information
Age: 35
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight
Birthday: September 7th
Zodiac Sign: Virgo
Religion: Irreligion
→ Her Personality Imani is a stubborn and courageous woman, often putting other needs above her own. She keeps a tight rein on her emotions which is a product of her upbringing and her rigorous hunter training. Imani keeps things bottled up inside and only shares her feelings with immense pressure. As a result, she is often reserved and slow to anger, but beneath her tough exterior is someone who feels very deeply. Imani is protective and loyal to those close to her. She has intense emotions that rarely surface and are directed primarily toward the people she cares about most. Imani is knowledgeable, practical, intelligent and at times calculating. She has a talent for profiling and her skills have helped track down many well-hidden supernaturals. She is also very curious; especially when it comes to the immortal 3 (vampires, human shifters, and magic users)
Imani is a strong-willed woman capable of holding her own as a hunter. She can be ruthless to enemies and friendly to allies, making her a dangerous foe and an exceptionally reliable friend. Imani is both an experienced and capable hunter as well as a fiercely defensive maternal figure who is to be taken very seriously within the Colt and Anderson family. As the wife of the headhunter, Imani can take on the leadership position when necessary, bringing in the Anderson family person style to the Colts. As a hunter, she stays on topic. She wants to get the job done as much as anyone else. Imani prefers to gather as much information about a situation as she can before deciding on it. Through her association with the supernatural, Imani mind is open to never-ending possibilities and ideas. She is willing and able to point out the ways that ideas could go wrong, often demanding to plan for different outcomes. Imani and Blaine are incredibly good at putting the pieces together and brainstorming together. They make an amazing married couple and hunting partners.
→ Her Personal Facts
Occupation: Senior Hunter
Scars: None
Tattoos: None
Two Likes: Neutral Colors and Hunting
Two Dislikes: Bright Colors and Venomous Snakes/Spiders
Two Fears: Gaining Weight and Meaningless Death
Two Hobbies: Learning (languages, cooking, information) and Journaling (about kills)
Three Positive Traits: Loyal, Protective, Clever
Three Negative Traits: Uncompromising, Denfinsive, Unmerciful
→ Her Connections
Parent Names:
Grant Anderson (Father): Imani has always been close to her father. He taught her everything she knows and made sure she had the best trainers. Imani knows that he wished she was a boy when she was born but cannot complain about the way she was raised and the benefits that followed. Grant is an amazing grandpa.
Candace Anderson (Mother): Imani mother is loving and smothering. Candace spoils her grandbabies and always spends them home hyper. Candace family believed in breeding for the best possible hunter outcomes. Imani does not blame her mother for running and finds her story encouraging; especially about meeting her dad. This also made Imani life hell with a clingy and opinionated mother.
Sibling Names:
Ebony Anderson (Sister): Ebony and Imani have a common sisterly bond. They have each others backs and get along well but are also constantly fighting about stupid things and pissing each other off. Ebony encouraged Imani to start dating Blaine and has always been supportive of their relationship.
Children Names:
Bryson Colt (Son): Bryson is showing a lot of promise. At the age of 6, Bryson can recite random species traits better than the ‘Baby Shark’ song. Imani loves her oldest son and thinks he is a perfect mixture of Blaine and herself but he takes after his father in temper, ruthlessness and intelligence.
Wesson Colt (Son): Wesson is a hellion at the simple age of 4 and a half. Everyone swears Wesson is more Anderson than Colt and naming him after a gun was a horrible idea. Wesson is a handful but Imani loves him all the same.
Orion Colt (Son): Akins twin brother. Blaine and Imani were trying one more time for a girl but were surprised to find out they were having twin boys. Orion has just turned 2 years old. Imani is tempted to try again for a girl now that the boys are older, however, Orion needs more care and love than her older sons.
Akins Colt (Son): Orion twin brother. Blaine and Imani were trying one more time for a girl but were surprised to find out they were having twin boys. Akins has just turned 2 years old. Imani is tempted to try again for a girl now that the boys are older, however, Akins needs more love and attention than her older sons.
Romantic Connections:
Blaine Colt (Husband): Blaine was not love at first sight or anything gushy. When they first met she was unimpressed by the legendary Colt. To take him down a few notches she purposely went after his hunts and tried to beat him to the punch. That peaked his interest in her and hers in him. Imani learned to care and respect him and then eventually fell in love with Blaine. He is her husband and best friend. They dated for 3 years before getting married in secret. Blaine and Imani have recently celebrated their 7 year anniversary.
Platonic Connections:
Colin Colt (Brother-In-Law): Imani brought her concerns about D.W. up to Colin which he quickly found excuses for. She thought they once had a really strong relationship, but Colin’s blatant refusal to even look at evidence and suspicions she has had has really soured their bond. She is going to keep looking into it, however, because he’s family.
Elle Colt (Sister-In-Law): Elle and Imani get on like houses on fire. Elle has told Imani that she was exactly what he needed in order to get his ego deflated a bit. They talk about ideas and strategy often, and respect each other’s minds.
Alice Colt (Sister-In-Law): Alice is like a mini Blaine. She worked long hours to try and get Alice back into fighting shape. She was also the one to discover one armed archery, and helped Alice find her passion for the sport again.
Amy Colt (Sister-In-Law): Amy plays fast and loose, but a part of her enjoys it. She trusts that Amy knows what she’s doing. They get along really well and Imani feels like a part of the girl’s group.
Casper Colt (Brother-In-Law): Imani agrees with her husband about Casper. He has no future as a hunter. It’s a shame, because he might have been something if someone intervened earlier.
Megan Colt (Cousin-In-Law): Imani gives unofficial credit to Megan for getting her and Blaine together. Had Megan not suggested a collaboration, she’d never have given him more than a split second of thought.
Iris Colt (Cousin-In-Law): Imani has been teaching Iris the ins and outs of online tracking. It’s not a skill that the Colts teach their tracker, but she thinks Iris will catch on quickly.
Hailey Colt (Cousin-In-Law): Imani approves of Hailey. She thinks she is a very capable woman on her own, and would keep her cousin on his toes. They don’t often talk, but they had a great conversation about moves and techniques not too far back.
Trevon Anderson (Cousin): Trevon is Imani’s favorite cousin. They get along the best out of all the other Anderson. She does not feel like Trevon will stab her in the back since they share a lot of the same views and are willing to go above and beyond on hunt. Imani had given Trevon the thumbs up when he expressed his interest in Hailey Colt. Imani has gone as far as hinting it to Blaine and Alexus.
Nia Anderson (Cousin): Nia is the model cousin and no one else can compare. Imani knew their family did not do it on purpose but she spent her entire childhood being compared to Nia. As adults, Imani can put the past behind her and be civil with her cousin but Imani believes she sailed through life.
Marquis Anderson (Cousin): Imani feels for her little cousin. She wishes she could do more for him but the most she can do is keep her door open for him.
Raven Jenkins (Cousin): Imani is glad Raven did not turn out like her mother. She enjoys the few hunts they take together and is happy she is friends with Alice.
Alexus Anderson (Aunt): Alexus has always been a judging figure in Imani’s life. She always had to work and trained harder to try and please her aunt; which never worked. It wasn’t until adulthood did Alexus start showing her any respect and quit her unfair judgmental assumptions.
Arthur Milligan (Undefined): The Anderson works with a lot of supernatural creatures but Arthur is one of her favorites. Whenever he has an ‘untouchable’ he slides it her way and she takes care of the problem for him or the other supernatural cops.
Churchill Darling (Undefined): Imani thought she was in trouble when a known human shifter first approached her but he had a box full of cases involving untouchable humans and another box involving unpunished members of Clan Rat. Imani shared the box with the Colts and Anderson. They’ve been working on it for months. Imani is thinking of ways to show some gratitude towards him.
Hostile Connections:
Eric Lasiter (Strained Friendship): Eric believes Imani stole from him and she has tried multiple times to explain the misunderstanding without any luck.
Jazmine Anderson (Disappointment): Jazmine stole information off of Imani’s phone and ruined her friendship with Eric Lasiter; and possibly her reputation.
Tirra Jenkins (Dislike/Annoyance): Since marrying into the Jenkins family, Tirra constantly acts as if she is better than the Anderson family. Imani is annoyed that she lost one of her favorite aunts but Tirra really grinds her gears.
D.W. Colt (Distrusts): Imani instincts are going haywire in concern to D.W, she seemed like a nice enough person at first but the more Imani watched her, the more her warning bells turned into sirens. The fact that no one is taking Imani seriously in regards to D.W is pissing Imani off and making her more aggressive towards D.W.

Supernatural season 6 review (part 1)
Link to part 2:
At the beginning of the sixth season we have the chance to see and appreciate a new side of Dean: as he had promised Sam, he came back with Lisa (who seems to have accepted him straight away, because, even after all those years, she realises he’s the only man she’s ever loved) and lives in a proper family, behaving as Ben’s, Lisa’s son, father. Of course he still thinks about Sam, but he seems to be happy for the first time in his life, as he now has everything he’s always dreamed of since when he was a child. He’s a good dad to Ben, he’s so careful to avoid becoming like John and he’s also really faithful to Lisa. His life as a hunter clearly made him understand the advantages of having a quiet life and a “normal” family, so that he appreciates them a lot more than anyone could do. At first I thought Dean was not cut out for being a dad, and that Sam would surely make a better one, but these episodes proved me wrong, especially considering what Sam has now become. We already know (from the last episode of season five) that Sam is alive, so that’s not a big surprise, but we still have questions on what happened, the same ones Dean has when he meets him. As a matter of fact, he finds out he’s been alive for a very long time, hunting with his new family, the Campbells, led by their mother’s dad, Samuel, who’s been brought back to life with Sam, even though they both don’t know who did it. Dean is at first angry with Sam (but we’re used to it at this point) because he didn’t tell him he was alive, but Sam’s intentions were good, as he wanted Dean to maintain his happy family life. This dream of letting Dean out of hunting appears to be utopic, because being a hunter is far from being just Dean’s job, it’s part of his soul and now that he knows his brother is alive he can’t ignore anymore the continuous impulse of starting hunting again he constantly feels. Dean is deeply in doubt about what he has and wants to do, because he can’t bear either to lose Sam or Lisa and Ben: a sort of compromise is proposed by Lisa, and Dean accepts. He’ll start to hunt again with Sam and he’ll come and visit his family whenever he can. I really loved Lisa’s comprehensive attitude towards Dean, which testifies she loves and knows him so much she understands he could never give up on his life as a hunter and accepts to adapt to whatever makes Dean happy. That’s rare considering the people Dean can count on are few. However, what Lisa and Dean haven’t fully considered at first is that Ben and her will automatically become one of Dean’s weak points and that could put them in danger.
About Castiel, he’s a little absent in the Winchester’s hunts (but he always somehow finds time to help them when they need it, and that shows how much he loves them and cares about them) because he’s fighting in Paradise against Raphael who wants to take power. By the way neither Castiel knows how Sam was saved. One of the main plots of the season is the loss of some weapons from Paradise, which are now on earth and are improperly used by people. As always is Sam and Dean’s job to avoid a catastrophe caused by angels and recollect those weapons, while fighting ordinary demons and other monsters. It comes out that an angel, Balthazar, owns some of those weapons: he’s quite of an ambiguous character, as angels sometimes are in this show, and seems to be just indifferent to what happens both in Paradise and on earth. He’s surely not a completely good angel, as Castiel, but sometimes helps the boys in hunts and in their personal issues. I think he could be compared to another weird (but very interesting) character we’ve met in the last season and we get to know better in this one: Crowley. As Balthazar is an angel, Crowley is a demon, and we’ve learnt that in Supernatural there’s not a big difference between the two. I think what makes them similar is the fact that they keep fighting the Winchesters and pretend to dislike them, but they never actually harm them and seem even to quite like the brothers.
Through an involving episode based on Bobby’s point of view, the fourth, we understand more deeply what he does on a typical day apart from helping Sam and Dean. His routine is very stressful, so that we can justify him for being a bit rude and actually feel more than ever like the Winchesters take him for granted and never thank him enough, which they finally do after a small fight at the end of the episode. This change in perspective was quite unexpected, in a show were the main and only focus are Sam and Dean, but it was really appreciated as it gives the chance to see the story and past plots under a new light. Speaking of Crowley and Bobby, the old man is smart enough (even if he’s so busy giving Rufus and the brothers his precious help) to find out the demon’s real name and a way to make him change the terms of the contract: he’ll live his life without being persecuted in ten years and will as well keep his legs.
At this point I have to mention episode five, which constitutes a turning point for a lot of reasons (by the way, I also loved the reference to Twilight, first of all because I really appreciate how Supernatural refers and quotes other real shows or movies, but also because, I have to admit, some years ago I was a huge fan of the saga). As I was saying, this vampire episode is interesting because Dean himself is transformed. This fact marks a deep change in his relationship with Lisa and Ben: Dean, convinced he’s going to die soon, goes and visits his family but can’t control his vampire instinct and accidentally harms Ben, and as a result Lisa banishes him from their lives. At that moment Dean has the last proof he can’t maintain his bond with them, which will lead him and Lisa to fall apart without even clarifying the situation after Dean turns human. As I said loads of time regarding his relationship with his brother, one of the Dean’s features I hate the most is the fact he’s never able to talk with his loved ones straightforwardly about serious stuff, and that’s why problems always grow bigger. At the end of the season, the story of Lisa and Dean brutally comes to an end, since Ben and her are captured by Crowley’s demons and Lisa gets severely injured: that’s the point where Dean understands definitively they can’t have this kind of relationship for their own good and asks Castiel to erase their memories about him. This is one of the saddest parts of the entire season, because we know well what Lisa and Ben meant to Dean and we also know that they were his last hope for happiness, which is irremediably gone.
Talking about Sam, here it is the second shocking scene of episode five: Sam sees Dean’s transformation happening under his eyes without doing anything. When Dean recalls it, he gets mad, of course without asking Sam for some explanation, as the two are not able to solve their conflicts in a civil way simply by talking, and adds this episode to the list of Sam’s weird behaviours, which makes him think there’s something wrong with him. As Dean is the person who knows Sam better, he’s sure his brother is not okay, even though everyone, including Sam himself, thinks he’s exaggerating. He asks help from the only one person he can really trust (apart from Bobby), Castiel, who reveals to him the shocking truth: Sam’s soul is gone, and was probably left in hell in the cage with Lucifer. That explains Sam’s recent behaviour, far from the kindness and humanity we’ve learnt to love about him. I was really worried about him in finding out why he had behaved so badly and he had at times preferred Samuel (with whom he hunted a lot in the past year and did some regrettable things, as we learn from some flashbacks), also because both Cas and Crowley are convinced Sam’s soul is lost forever and irretrievably damaged by the devil, but part of me was relieved the Sam we had seen so far in the season was not the real Sam. However, I think there was a kind of contradiction in the way the authors depicted soulless Sam, as he sometimes seems to actually have feelings left, for example when he doesn’t show up with Dean to let him go on with his happy family life, in the first episode, but that could just be an isolated moment of awakening, moved by his huge love for his brother.
From that moment on, a new phase in the storyline is opened, as Sam has to depend completely on Dean who tries to teach him a sort of morality and at the same time looks for a way to restore Sam’s soul. Dean even has to convince his brother he has to want his soul back, because he cannot trust him without it, while Sam seems to feel better and stronger without. As if all that soul thing wasn’t enough, they have to face the Campbells: Samuel proves himself untrustworthy, and Dean decides to follow him to his secret hideout. He finds out Samuel is hiding some creatures he said he had killed and that he’s looking for a place Dean had no idea existed, Purgatory, and he’s doing it working for Crowley. Dean never really trusted his granddad and the Campbells, but could never imagine not only that they were working for a demon, and a very powerful one (even if Samuel did it because Crowley promised to resuscitate Mary). Also, Samuel said nothing about the fact that he and Sam were brought back by Crowley to help him find Purgatory and extend his power. Moreover Crowley, ambiguous as always, says he can restore Sam’s soul and cunningly obliges the Winchesters to hunt for him. Sam, who is way more rational because of the lack of soul, knows it’s their only choice, while Dean accepts more recklessly. As a matter of fact, this situation doesn’t last as they decide to break their subjugation and find another way to save Sam, with the help of another quite ambiguous character, which appears and disappears both to kill and help the brothers, Meg. This time she helps them fight Crowley and at the end they (a strange group formed by the Winchesters, Cas and Meg) manage to kill him. Therefore, we find ourselves at the middle of the season with Dean basically at the beginning of his research for Sam’s soul. Luckily, he finds really soon a way; unfortunately, it implies a deal with a quite dangerous character, Death: he will restore Sam’s soul if Dean will live a day in his shoes. What I appreciated of the personification of Death is that he isn’t properly evil in the show, just as the evil connotation mankind gives to death is merely arbitrary: Death is nothing more than a natural phenomenon which must happen necessarily in each human life, and Dean is given the chance to understand that deeply and reconsider his thoughts about it.
After a long and painful period of time passed in the panic room, Sam wakes up for the first time in a year with his soul, protected by a wall which is aimed to hide all that’s happened from when he fell in the hole with Lucifer and Raphael, because hell memories could kill him (and he’s already been through a lot). It was a joy to see our good little Sammy back, we (and Dean) had missed his gentle and cute attitude so much! He’s been through so much with demons and psychic things Dean keeps thinking any problem could be too much for him and he will explode, but somehow Sam is always able to bear them, while Dean always tries, in vain most of the time, to protect him. This time, as Sam doesn’t remember a thing from his soulless year, Dean hides him the truth (at this point of the show we know him so well he is completely predictable and the pattern of the brothers not telling each other important facts is the exact repetition of some other episodes), but it ends better than other times because Cas reveals Sam everything without knowing he didn’t know and Sam seems to understands Dean’s motives (after all, they’re brothers).
Before moving to the finale, I can’t but mention the metanarrative episode of this season, the 15th, in my opinion the most mind blowing of this type: Dean and Sam find themselves trapped on the Supernatural set where they’re actors and of course known by their real names. This episode gifts us with the most funny scenes of Castiel, whose real name is Misha, posting tweet all the time about the most stupid things and of Ruby/Genevieve, married with Jared in real life and also in this episode: that’s where reality seems to be weirder and funnier than the show itself.
After Rufus’ death, another really good character left on the way, and the defeat of the “Mother of all things”, the main villain of the season who’s killed quite easily through phoenix ashes collected back in 1861 by Sam and Dean themselves –nothing strange-, we find out the last shocking fact of the season: the alliance between Castiel and Crowley (who’s still alive) to find Purgatory. I was quite surprised because I couldn’t believe the naïve angel would cooperate with a demon and, even worse, without ever telling the Winchesters. I don’t think they would be happy about their deal, but at least they could’ve honestly known what their friend was up to: this way he cheated them so badly they couldn’t even believe it until the very last moment. That’s no excuse that Cas allied with Crowley just to take on some soul from Purgatory, gain more power to finally defeat Raphael and win the war in Paradise, and also that he made the demon promise the Winchesters and Bobby would be safe, because to reach his purpose he spied and lied to his friends the whole time. He should’ve known the brothers have very few people they can trust and losing them is extremely painful. Castiel himself has no real friends apart from Sam and Dean, but he seems to think they’re expendable for a higher purpose and doesn’t seem to realise how guilty he will feel after betraying them and how it will hurt to lose them.
We are now at the last episode, and we’re given a new reason to be mad at Castiel: he breaks Sam’s mental wall, letting him recall all his memories from hell. Not satisfied with all that mess he’s already made, he manages to open the Purgatory and take all the power on him, refusing to give Crowley his part of the deal. I really can’t figure out what’s wrong with end-of-sixth-season Castiel, I guess the perspective of having a huge power and becoming a sort of god went to his head, but still I think his behaviour is so incoherent. I couldn’t believe it when he told his old friends to worship him as their god if they didn’t want to get killed… Like, for real Cas? I don’t know what’ll happen in season seven, I just know I want dear old Castiel back.

Kissing Dead Pearls (Part 24)
Sokka supposed that the chimps were better than no company at all. They would swing from the trees and whip twigs and bundles of leaves at him. On one occasion, one of them had chucked a whole coconut. But it was still better than being entirely alone. In some ways it reminded him of being in the boy’s locker rooms. It was just as much barbaric shenanigans and provided just as many feral pranks. They were just about as messy and mischief too.
He had to admit that it was fun for the first few days, until the glamor wore off and he began to realize that he had gone from one type of stranded to another. But at least this space was larger and teeming with food options. At least this one provided a canopy that took his skin out of the direct sunlight. He was beginning to feel like a vampire; cut off from the world and fearing sunlight. Instead of bats he had primages. Instead of sucking the blood out of people, he suckled knotweed and bamboo stem.
After what could have been a month on the island, he had come to observe things. Curious things like the way mosses trapped water. The dew they gathered was crucial when he hadn’t the energy to try to make a drink of knotweed and bamboo.
His days on the island were not as monotonous as the ones spent in the waves. He found that he rather enjoyed exploring the island until the mosquitoes started to swam and bite. But he couldn’t return to the camp that he was steadily erecting. Not just yet. He still had to gather food. He managed to craft a spear, with luck he could capture a small animal to cook. The palm fronds swished in the breeze a rather soothing sound that was so rudely interrupted by the jabbering of his chimp companions.
He fell into a sort of routine that made him feel normal again. One that helped him, however delicately, pick up the fragments of his mind a piece them together again. By day, he would hunt and gather and work to make his camp secure. Sometimes he would go for a swim in the freshwater pond he had found a week or so into exploring. That little swimminghole had been a sanctuary. It provide him with fish, drink, and recreation after its discovery. He had moved his camp over to it and gleefully bid a goodbye to his days of sipping at plants for hydration.
Though the sores and blisters were still a problem and the mosquitoes were just as attracted to them as they were to the bond. They never truly cleared and he could never truly seem to get them clean. He was beginning to worry about them.
At night he liked to lay on his back and observe the moon and stars through the palm fronts. The night sky was breathtakingly mystifying without city lights to hinder it. The moon especially was nice. When the chimps turned in and quieted for the night he would have conversations with the moon as though she were a cognizant entity that could hear him. She...for some reason he liked to call the moon a she. He would speak to her, messages that he wished for her to whisper to Katara and Kya and Hakoda. He would crack quips and witticisms at her to send off to Azula and Zuko. He hoped that the celestial body would craft some message that he was alive and stable but needed help that could be sensed on cosmic  level.
He thinks that it might have worked, even if a little late. He can’t imagine any other reason for Azula being out in that storm.
He didn’t know how much time had passed but eventually, he had resigned to that no help would be coming. He hadn’t seen a ship or a plane to short off the emergency flares for. A part of him, that part of his mind that he couldn’t quite mend or get a grip on, considered that the world might have ended. That he was the last man on Earth, spared only by the coincidence of an unfortunate event that turned out to be a lucky one.
His logical mind told him that he had simply ventured into some remote corner of the world. A place so small that no one bothered stopping there. His logical mind compelled him to leave the island. He wanted to stay; the island was much more hospitable than the open waters. But there on the island he was stagnant. He would never get home.
He offered his chimps a farewell. He was going to miss them, especially Hou. He cried the first night he’d left the island. Though he had with him a more stable supply of food and water, he was still horrified at the prospect of being adrift again. His second era of floating by in a raft wasn’t so dreadful as the first. The stretch wasn’t as long before he reached an atoll. It was significantly smaller and had no food, but it was a break from the maddening roll of the waves and it was a much safer place to endure the storm.
He found another small island. Desperation and a hardened mind gave him the ambition and strength he needed to slay a boar. Its left tusk became a cup and its right tusk a weapon. The right tusk is the only thing that he has managed to hang onto during the storm, a keepsake of his misadventure and struggles.
Though he savored the tusks, its pelt was the most useful of his treasures. It had become a blanket while the boar’s meat was the first real meal he’d had in a while. It was the last meal. For the longest time he drifted from atoll to atoll--some greener than others but none of them had any real bounty. At best they were safe spots to hide on when clouds darkened and waves punched away at the sand.
And soon he was back to drifting with no land in sight at all. He had gotten so used to a plentiful helping of atolls that he had deluded himself into believing that the chain of them would be endless or that they would lead him to the mainland. For his assumption, it struck like a punch to the gut when days rolled by and he found nothing but endlessly rolling waves.
At night, he spoke to the moon more often. During the day hid from the sun’s rays beneath the blanket. It could only do so much though, the blisters were rising again and irritated once more by the saltwater.
He felt as though he were being cooked alive. He started praying for death. He watched clouds roll in, darker than he had ever seen and accented by bursts of lighting so powerful I could only think of a hurricane. He smiled, knowing that his prayers have been answered.
Though he hadn’t realized that it was his prayers to see civilization that had been answered until a shrill beeping pierced his ears.
.oOo.
She is at the foot of his bed clutching his hand. It is so sublimely wonderful to have human contact again and exceptionally so to have a familiar face. A familiar touch. A touch that is absurdly warm, Azula always had been very warm.
“I guess that it’s kinda weird but I kinda miss the chimps. I thought of bringing one home for you!” He finishes.
“What would I have done with a whole chimpanzee?” Azula crinkles her nose. He laughs, he had forgotten about the way her face bunched up when he said something particularly dumb.
“You would have loved it and cherished it.” Sokka declares. “He would have been our son.”
Azula gives a humored sniff. “How do you even care for a chimp?”
“The wonderful thing about the mainland is that we can look it up on the net.”
“Dad would have never allowed a monkey in the house.” Zuko comments from across the room.
“I’d keep it at my house.” Sokka replies. “Can you hand me that glass.”
Azula rolls her eyes. “It’s been what? A three days now? I think that you can reach over and get a glass yourself.” She hands it to him anyways.
“If you’d been stranded out at sea, I’d get you as many glasses as you asked for.” Sokka tries a smile.
“Without complaining?”
He thinks for a moment. “There would be a minimal amount of complaining.”
“And this is a minimal amount of complaining.”
He chuckles, “that’s fair.” Frankly, he is glad that she isn’t completely doting over him and babying him. He doesn’t think that it would feel normal if she cried and gushed over him. He doesn’t count the stress of the first day. She was rather weepy the first time he’d really opened his eyes. The first day that it settled in that he was truly back. He thinks that it is much more comforting to get his daily dose of sass and sarcasm. Because it is normal. It makes him feel as though he hadn’t been gone for so long after all.
Maybe the world hasn’t left him behind and discarded his memories. Maybe it hasn’t moved forward without him after all. Maybe she had been waiting for him all this time.
He grips her hand as tightly as he can with his sores and weakened muscles. Katara enters the room with lunch. He may not be home yet, but home has come to him.
