Ben 10 pokemon au
hi this is what ive been working on its taken me a bit
Basically my brain hasent been able to pick a fixation, so my partner suggested mixing them and thats how this au was born!
Tumblr media
So to info dump all my thoughts ben in this au is like just really good at pokemon battles, him gwen and grandpa max traveled around a summer when grandpa max got the go ahead from the kids parents to take them pokemon training (hes a professor and was champion a long time ago though he keeps it a secret)
Bens current team: ditto, goomy, forslass, incineroar, carnevine and xurkitree
younger Bens team: ditto, machamp, haunter, white striped basculin, quilava and yanma
(Not completely sure on his teams yet) his first pokemon was ditto
Tumblr media
Theres not much to say here that isnt written on the drawing or said in Bens so im just gonna give you her teams
Gwens current team: delcatty, mimikyu, polteageist, hetterne, espeon and tinkaton
young Gwens team: skittie, sinistea, hatenna, eevee and tinkatink
skitte was har first pokemon, and i also put it and delcatty on her shirt instead of her usual cat logo cuz i thought it was cute
Tumblr media
Ok Kevin time! Kevin was a street kid that joined team rocket to survive, hes also pretty good at pokemon battles. He tried befriend Ben to steal bens ditto when he was younger, later figuring out he really didnt like stealing pokemon or working for team rocket, so he came to grandpa max and asked for shelter, max ofc couldnt turn him down even with all the trouble hed caused. I havent draw their af/ua versions, but Gwen starts warming up to him and dating him, so Ben kinda just has to accept that Kevin is staying, he pretty annoyed at first, but him and Kevin quickly become best friends
Kevins current team: zoroark, melmetal, alolan golem, revavroom, onyx and sudowodoo
young Kevins team: zorua, alolan geodude, varoom, onyx, bonsly and meltan
Kevins first pokemon was zorua
Tumblr media
Rook shows up when ben is left alone cuz Gwen and Kevin go and take over gyms as gym leaders. Rook is a new gym leader who grandpa max has convinced Ben he should make friends with cuz hes pretty lonely without Gwen and Kevin, at first Ben is kinda mad about (like in the show) but he warms up to Rook pretty quick and they later start dating
Rooks team is: lucario, mienshao, heracross, quaquaval, bewear and hisuian decidueye
(I know the decidueye kinda dosnt make sense cuz its back in time and all that but lets ignore that)
And thats all for now!! Expect more cuz i really like this au and i wanna draw them with their pokemon!! :DDDD!!

Some more MHA Pokémon AU headcanons:
I think it would be both funny and fitting is Overhaul had a Minccino or Cinccino (due to his dislike of dirt and germs)
Monoma would definitely have a Ditto or Zoroark as his ace Pokémon.
Snipe’s team would consist of both Intellion and Decidueye.
I think Iida would also have a Varoom or Revavroom on his team as a gym leader (their both based on car engines so it would be fitting)
I feel like Twice would use two or three headed Pokémon like Dodrio, Dugtrio, Girafarig, and Scovillain.
I 100% agree with Overhaul, however I would definitely go with Cinccino for no reason other than they both have fluffy collars and I think thats cute
I really like your idea for Snipe! I wouldnt have thought of them (I was stuck on the cowboy thing) but they fit his quirk so well!
Oh my god I feel so stupid giving Iida Skarmory in my gym leader post now. I completely forgot the Varoom line existed (even more embarrassing considering Im replaying Violet rn) but they fit him perfectly
Twice totally would! I think he would really resonate with them, especially ones like Zweilous and Dodrio where the heads are very independent and compete to the point of being hostile towards one another

Whumptober 2020 - No. 2
Ohhhh it’s time for a classic again! Taron is the wonderful @for-the-love-of-angst‘s!!
THEME: In The Hands Of The Enemy
PROMPT: Kidnapping
TWs: kidnapping, aftermath of conditioning
Russet eyes watched the pair of boots pace back and forth, tracing the same path along the carpet that they had been since he woke up. “You won’t get what you want.” James said, shifting on his side to take some of the weight off of his arm. Just because his wrists were tied didn’t mean he had to be more uncomfortable than necessary, after all.
Despite the lack of venom in James’ voice, his kidnapper wheeled around. His eyes were wild, and the grip on his gun painful looking. “The fuck do you mean, I won’t get what I want?” He hissed back, stomping over.
“I just mean that you won’t get the ransom.” James said, staring up at him unflinching. “Samuel won’t get the message.”
A hand wound into his hair and he was wrenched up into a half-sitting position, nose-to-nose with the man who’d taken him. “Did you give me the wrong place to send it?“ He snarled, his other hand latching around James’ neck and squeezing.
“No,“ James said, eking the words past the fingers around his throat. The room started to get colder, and when James breathed out again there was a puff of mist that drifted between them. “But Taron is much faster than he is.“
The man paused, one eyebrow raising. “Taron--who the fuck is that?” He asked, grinning in disbelief.
Shadows began to coalesce behind the man, James eyeing them with a passive, calm curiosity--like he was just watching a leaf land in a puddle. The chill started to seep deeper into the air, into both of their bones. Tension ripped through the man, even as James relaxed into the familiar sense that he might die.
The shadows grew and grew. A pair of broad shoulders formed, sharp and powerful like the wings with pitch black feathers that spread to block out the ceiling above James and his captor. James smiled as eyes like silver pierced the darkness that had consumed them all. They hovered over the man’s shoulder, promising agony, death, and salvation.
“You could call him my older brother.“

PLM AU or Pokemon and Heroes AU! Now that its a thing, Iida HAS to have a Varoom/Revaroom. Or have Izukus quirk make one, depending on the AU
Yeah that's fair

We have @for-the-love-of-angst and @that-one-thespian for today’s piece c: It’s a touch different than what we discussed, but it’s still fun!
THEME: Running Out Of Time
PROMPT: Collapsed building
TWs: Fire, panic, train accident, broken bones
“Kada, please, I’m--”
A scream cut the rest of Zizi’s sentence off, and William froze. “Zizi? Almi, where are you?” He asked, voice steady as he set down the violin he’d been working on. Calm washed over him as he strode over to grab his coat and cane. It was so easy to slip back into his work mindset, even as Zizi wheezed and sobbed on the other end.
“I was--was riding the train, it cra-ashed, there’s smoke and, and I can’t move my arm.”
Broken arm at least, and probably some sort of concussion unless Zizi was really, really lucky. “I’ll be there in under a minute.” William could hear the smile in his own voice, and Zizi laughing only made him tug his coat on quicker. “I’ll stay on the line, okay? There’ll be other reapers getting there soon, you aren’t alone.”
Whatever she said in return was drowned out by the rush of his smoke as he teleported. The cool AC was replaced by stifling smoke, and William tugged the collar of his turtleneck up over his nose. There were already other reapers there, tending to people and taking them away from the collapsed metal and acrid smell of burning plastic.
“I’m here, you aren’t trapped.” William said, hoping to soothe the distress he could hear through the speaker. “What car are you in? Towards the back?” He could feel her soul and was already moving towards her, but feeling like you were participating in your own rescue helped keep people focused. It kept them out of any memories the situation might drag up.
“I’m in the back car. You’re--you’re here? Where?”
“The next to last one, you’ll see me soon, I’m wearing the sweater you got me for my birthday. I think you said it was bright yellow?” It was the same color as her wings, and blessedly visible in dark places like a crashed train car.
“Will...!” This time he heard Zizi’s voice twice, bright and clear and terrified. She wasn’t dying, but he could hear the sheer relief as he knelt down next to where she lay on the floor. “You’re--you’re really here, I’m not--not back at the palace...”
“No, you’re not, you’re on Earth, this was just an accident.” William said, hanging up and pocketing his phone. “No one was trying to hurt you.” Zizi’s good arm looped around his neck as he gathered her up and stood. “I’ll have to come back here to help, but Sam’s place isn’t too bad, huh?”
“No,” Zizi agreed, finally relaxing as William’s smoke swallowed them both up. “No, it’s really not.”

I owe this to @for-the-love-of-angst for writing this wonderful piece!! Think of this as the prequel for that one c:
TWs: blood, gore, torture, captivity
Cyan eyes followed polished shoes as the bastard who dedicated so much of his time tormenting Taron and Zizi circled him. The thick smell of iron filled the air, filled Elliot’s nose and choked out all the memories he had of ever smelling anything else. His back was on fire, split by the bite of the blade that Zever wielded.
"What number are we at again?” He purred, a smile pulling at his lips.
Elliot felt his own lip tug into a snarl, his sharpened teeth glinting. “Two hundred...ninety-seven.” His hands twitched where they were pulled out to either side of him by chains. He wanted to dig his nails into that pale, perfect skin. Zever was perched up on his high horse, so sure that he was untouchable.
No one was untouchable though, not forever.
“Just wait ‘till I--’till I get out of these chains.” Elliot hissed, I’ll make you regret all--” He couldn’t finish the threat. All promises of how he’d make Zever scream, how he’d bring him to his knees, how he’d make him beg, were cut off by the knife digging into his shoulder.
The clean, cold edge burned a short track along his skin. It was never too deep, never too fast. Zever was an expert with that knife. Elliot had been on the other end of a blade enough times to know what it felt like to so carefully draw blood from someone. He knew the restraint it took to avoid dipping into muscle, to avoid scraping bone.
These were superficial cuts. Every single one of the two hundred ninety-eight cuts would’ve barely even warranted a bandage. But that didn’t matter--anything could be too much to handle if given in a large enough amount. Zever knew that well. He knew he would win in the end.
Elliot knew he would win too. But he didn’t have to make Zever’s victory pleasant. Warmth, sticky and terrible, freely flowed down Elliot’s back. It pulled at Elliot’s consciousness, tugged at his words and made it harder and harder to focus. The footsteps kept circling him, spiraling slowly and languidly. Again, the knife bit into Elliot, longer this time, curling a thin line across Elliot’s bicep.
“Really, it’s nothing personal. I’d just like to remind my Vexo of just who I am.” Zever’s voice swam, distantly. “Now, what number was that?”
“Two...two hundred and...and ninety-nine...” Elliot spat. “Just wa-atch...I’ll...I fucking rip y’apart...”
The knife pressed into Elliot’s back, finally scraping the edge of a vertebrae. “Hush.“ Zever commanded, soft and unforgiving. Agony slipped down, down, down past Elliot’s ribs, and everything fell away.
Hands cupped his face, unyielding and warm. In the darkness that spun Elliot’s consciousness into a cotton candy tangle, that same terrible voice spoke again. “I should heal you, shouldn’t I? I don’t want Taron to hate me.”

We can all blame @comfy-whumpee for this, bc they really, really wanted some good agony! A prequel to this drabble! Misty, Taron, and Zizi still belong to @for-the-love-of-angst, and are written with permission!!
TWs: broken bones, illness, fever
"We’ll just be gone for today, are you sure you’ll be alright kada?”
Zeria had asked him for the tenth time earlier that morning, worry filling her voice as she felt his forehead again. He’d woken up drowsy and achy, just feverish enough to warrant staying home. Zizi and Taron always got so worried whenever he was sick, so he’d promised to rest and take care of himself while they were gone.
He’d hugged them goodbye, climbed back into bed, and when he opened his eyes again the sun had shifted. It shone on his face, warming his hair and skin even through the curtains in his room. Noon.
Overheated and thirsty from the heavy sleep, William propped himself up on aching wrists that didn’t want to support his weight. Painfully, slowly, he stood and started shuffling into the hallway. The hardwood flooring sent a shock through him with every step, and he hunched in on himself as he started to shiver without the protection of his heavy blanket. Had the palace always been this chilly?
It was unusually quiet, too. No footsteps echoing through the hallways. What day was it? Had he slept for a full day and just not noticed? It certainly seemed like something the staff would do, let him sleep long and hard if he were ill. He’d grown up with a vast majority of them, and knew them as well as he knew his own parents.
Plus, if Zizi and Taron had been delayed for some reason it would’ve be easier to focus on what they needed to do to help if he were asleep.
Chalking it up to his fever making things feel strange, William turned to the staircase. One hand resting on the rail like he’d done every day since he was six, William started descending the stairs. The grips that Taron had installed so long ago were reassuring, familiar--and less jarringly cold than the wood beneath his feet. They gave him a sense of security, too. As long as he took his time, walked instead of ran, he didn’t have much of anything to worry about on the stairs.
They didn’t help when two hands suddenly shoved against his shoulder blades, though. William’s grip on the railing tightened and he yelped, feeling his heart jump as he missed the next step, and then the next. His foot twisted with a snap and his knee buckled when he tried to regain his balance, and his weight was too much for his already weakened wrist to deal with.
He felt himself turning from the force, and his shoulders hit the unforgiving edge of the stair that made no difference in his momentum. With a cry William kept tumbling, his head and then his knee catching the hardest hits. He hit the floor and came to a stop, an awful crack echoing through him.
He didn’t hear any footsteps. Apart from his own whimper-tinted breathing, William couldn’t hear anyone. Maybe Zizi or Taron were there?
“A-almi?” He called, having to swallow down nausea when the force of his yell jarred his hip. “Atta?”
There was no answer.
He tried to shift, to get his elbows under himself so that he could start to crawl towards the wing where the healers were. The moment he used his good leg to try to push himself along though, lightning raced through him and he collapsed again with a strangled scream. His head span, and it felt like hours before William was able to catch his breath.
When the floor stopped trying to send him flying, William decided to try again. “Maia? I need, I need a hea-aler, please, are, are you aro-ound?” He called, recalling one of the housekeepers who usually covered the ground floor in the afternoons. “Anyo-one...?”
What time was it? Why couldn’t he hear anyone? Was he really alone, and if he was, why?
His hip and ankle throbbed with every heartbeat, and as the minutes ticked on it got harder to stay awake. There was no getting used to this pain. It just kept building, winding its way further into his body. William realized it was getting harder to think, harder to remember what time it was, who should be nearby.
Everything was getting harder. Thoughts started to come slower, and every blink felt like it lasted an eternity.
One lasted...too long, William realized, when it was near impossible to open his eyes again. He felt even more overheated when he managed it, throat dry and painful. “Ple-ease...” He rasped, knowing the sound wouldn’t carry. “He-elp...”
As his voice started to die, it took his hope with it. The aches in his hips and ribs said he’d been on the floor for hours. He didn’t remember how many times he’d woken up in that same spot, feeling worse and worse. Every time, he tried to call out for someone, only to be met with silence.
Finally, barely a squeak escaped. William tried again and again, only barely pushing sound past his lips. But this time, footsteps broke through the static in his head.
“My darling? Oh--” They rushed over, their voice starting to quickly rush away as they kneeled at his side. “Oh Will, kada, my darling, what happened to you?”

@for-the-love-of-angst really needed some Lee comfort, so I’m here to provide! Lee is written with her permission!
TWs: Blood, alcohol mention, beating
Fights weren’t uncommon, not this late and not in this area. William tugged his scarf up a little more to keep the winter chill off his throat and adjusted his posture. Eyes down so people wouldn’t see how unfocused they were, how they didn’t lock onto anything he passed, hands in his pockets with his cane tucked under an arm so it wasn’t obvious what it was.
He kept his magic close, not wanting to spark anything to make the fight worse. They didn’t need this to turn lethal if it didn’t have to. And then he heard a familiar voice.
Lee.
Lee, surrounded by ten people and who from the sound of the jeers, was losing.
Well, forget staying out of it. He navigated through the side street nearest to him, expanding his magic and focus out until he was able to pinpoint her soul. Taking a breath, William extended his cane and locked it into place before teleporting. In a flash and a burst of smoke he dropped into the fray, right behind the guy who seemed like he was holding Lee for the others to take free shots at.
William heard a fist connect with a face, heard Lee spit, wheeze in a breath, and then laugh. “God, you gu-uys are fucking in for it now.” And he jumped, wrapping one arm around the taller man’s neck and letting his weight drag them both to the ground. He pressed a heel to the man’s sternum to spring towards the one who’d punched Lee last.
The man swung, catching William in the mouth with his fist. He crashed to the ground, the man driving his foot into William’s skull. His head whipped to one side, and the rush of a fight filled him and quieted his thoughts.
It didn’t take long for Lee to get her feet under her again and tackle the guy. A second later, William sprung back up with his cane in hand. As bloody grins mirrored each other and dark hair whipped in the freezing wind, an unfair fight became a game.
Lee fell against William’s side, breathless and light as ever. “Damn kadani, always gotta butt into my fun.” She ruffled his hair, letting his arm loop around her waist to support her.
“It’s what little brothers are for, plus Zizi and Taron would ground the fuck out of me if I just let you take on ten dudes on your own.” He wiped blood from his chin, wincing as his sleeve caught his split lip. “We should uh, we should wash some of the blood off first though. Atta doesn’t need another heart attack.”
Lee started walking, arm squeezing William’s shoulders in a side-hug. “C’mon, my place is closer. I know Sophie gets onto you about overusing your magic--and we have that weird berry scented antiseptic Brian told me about.”
William laughed, feeling how Lee limped and shifting his hold to take her weight off that leg completely. “Okay, okay. You just wanna put off telling Avery so you can think of a cooler excuse for why we’re roughed up.”
“Shut the fuck up, Will.” The laugh that escaped Lee told William all he needed to know, but that was alright. If Lee could joke like this, and pull him into a headlock, and threaten to steal his last bottle of fae liquor if he kept it up, then she would be okay.
That was all that mattered.

Oooo yes I’ve literally been thinking about this for days yall, it’s time for @for-the-love-of-angst‘s lovely Captain Taron to have a really shitty day down in the lab c: But I promised I’d really put him through it, so we won’t just stop at kicking the shit outta him.
TWs: Blood, broken bones, drowning, torture, gore
Taron and William weren’t the sharpest tools in the shed, when it came to not giving in to their impulses to torment and mock the nine-foot tall archangel who held them captive. They’d never claimed to be. But it was still something that they occasionally remembered, in times like these.
Times where Taron found himself screaming until his voice was just about giving out, watching in horror as Daniel straddled William on the laboratory floor. Blood spilled onto the tile with every snap of William’s ribs, breaking away like they were made of sugar in the archangel’s crushing, inhuman strength. Curses, both English and Rylandarian flew from Taron’s lips, as one hand pressed a scalpel against William’s throat.
Daniel’s shining, golden wings were spread above them, feathers that denoted royalty in Taron’s culture catching the light in a display of dominance that William would never see, but that Taron certainly did. It made his blood boil, watching how William struggled against Daniel, knowing full well he couldn’t hope to escape the crushing grip or the cruel steel or the fourth hand that reached into his chest to grip his very heart.
“Leave him alone, stultus!” Taron barked, feeling his own heart drop when Daniel ripped the still-beating organ from the tissue that held it in William’s chest. William’s face grew pale, and his grip went as weak as the mumbled pleas that drifted into the air.
Daniel smiled, two red eyes flicking to where Taron was still strapped to the table. “What do you plan to do if I don’t, Captain? Are you going to kill me?” His lilting, sing-song voice stood in horrific contrast to how his fingers squeezed William’s now-fluttering, skipping, stuttering heart. His fingertips pressed in, slowly, slowly, and William arched with a strangled sob, hands weakly searching for the arm that held his heart. “Because look where those promises have landed you both.”
Taron felt tears sliding down his face, watching the angel twice William’s size steadily crush the life out of him. He watched, helpless, apologizing to his fellow prisoner, as William’s breathing began to stutter, skyrocketing to hyperventilation as an instinctive panic overtook him. William was dying, and he couldn’t do anything. “I’ll, I’ll still be here, kada, I promise, I’ll be here when you get back.” He stuttered out, as William’s struggles started to slow and hazel eyes drifted over to him.
“Will you, Taron?” Daniel asked, a cruel smile on his face as he effortlessly crushed William’s heart.
Like a puppet with its strings cut, William fell limp against the bloody concrete floor. Half open eyes stared up, unfocused in Taron’s direction. The fifteen seconds it took for his body to dissolve into smoke and retreat into his soul felt like an eternity.
Daniel didn’t bother wiping William’s blood away before he scooped up the little marble. Taron’s broken swears filled the room, just over Daniel’s satisfied humming as he pulled an air-tight jar from his shelves of preserved organs and specimens. The marble clinked as it was dropped in and the lid was sealed back on. In just a few moments, William’s purple, silky smoke swirled languidly inside, as if driven by a gentle current.
And then Daniel turned to Taron.
His smile never changed, but backlit by his bloody halo, Taron could’ve sworn the malevolence only grew as he drew closer. “Oh Taron, sweet, wonderful Taron. I think I need to remind you who is in charge here.” One hand cupped Taron’s cheek, before it reared back and a resounding crack echoed through the laboratory as Daniel’s unforgiving palm impacted Taron’s face. His head whipped to the side, and something in his shoulder strained from the force. “Because I think--” Another slap, from the other side, a bruising backhand like he was so fond of using with William. “You have forgotten.”
He cupped Taron’s face again, leaning in, smile never wavering. All six red eyes fixed on Taron, and two hands undid the restraints around his wrists and ankles. “Now. Taron, why should I let you keep your hand privileges?” He asked, long fingers wrapping around Taron’s sore, raw wrists. “You don’t need them, not with what I’m planning for you.” He mused, twisting them both viciously before Taron could even open his mouth.
Taron screamed as his wrists snapped, hands going limp and useless in Daniel’s searing grip. “Fuck--fuck you...!” He ground out, spitting in Daniel’s face.
Daniel’s smile turned into a scathing, furious frown. “Filthy wretch, worthless creature...!” He snarled out, hauling Taron off the table and dragging him along the concrete by his useless wrists. “You need more than just an adjustment.” Daniel growled, flinging open the metal door to his storage room. “I need to break you down, tear you apart.”
Taron was yanked into the darkness of the room, towards an empty, dusty stainless steel tub. Daniel turned the spigot, and water began rushing into it. Before long, it was steaming and full, surface dyed red by Daniel’s halo and eyes. Daniel reached for Taron’s neck, gripping and forcing him to his feet with a bruising hold. “Let’s wash away all of your disobedience, let the water cleanse you, Taron.” He crooned, voice back to the awful mockery of soothing care it usually danced around.
“We’ll make a wonderful assistant out of you yet.” He promised, suddenly dunking Taron into the scalding, burning bath. He wasn’t choking Taron with that iron grip around his throat, just ensuring he couldn’t get out. Even when black wings unfurled, thrashing and battering at Daniel, it was no use. Daniel just grabbed them by the bony edges and snapped them, forcing a garbled sob from Taron. Water rushed into his mouth and throat, burning, burning. This was it, this was how he died.
And then he was pulled up, face breaking the surface and the cool, sterile lab air replacing the water that Taron choked up as he sputtered and coughed. He was allowed a minute like that, before it started all over again. Daniel’s distorted shadow rippled above him when he opened his eyes, six glowing points of red in a towering silhouette making Daniel look like the monster he was.
The water was cold by the time Taron was dumped back onto his cot in the recovery room. Shivering, alone, exhausted, Daniel’s parting words just kept rattling around in his head.
“Don’t you worry, Taron. William can stay in his jar as long as we need him to. I think it’s best, for now, if you and I spend some quality time together.”

Can you write another whump story with one of your characters suffering from chronic pain? One of them thinking they’re fine but the aches build up and they can’t hide it for long?
Sure thing Anon!! Here’s a Varoom Verse AU Prince Will having a rough night! Mikara, Taron, and Zeria all belong to @for-the-love-of-angst !!
TWs: chronic pain
It never, ever struck when it was convenient. Always when he couldn’t sit down, always when he was in public or in a hurry. William’s hip just hadn’t ever been the same since that last disastrous camping trip he and his sisters took, aching when the cold or humidity seeped in, or if he happened to shift just so too soon after waking up.
This time was no different.
It was a fancy party, a masquerade ball. He was dressed to the nines, as he was supposed to as prince, in a beautiful suit and a mask that he was told really brought out his eyes. His hair had been done up in an intricate braid and pinned, courtesy of Mikara. He was dancing with some charming princess, not even remembering the little jokes they shared but enjoying her soft, sweet laughter.
It was nice to just mingle sometimes, and make friends. She sounded like a wonderful flutist, and he was listening to her talk about the last lessons she had when a terrible, breathless sort of pain suddenly lanced through William’s hip. It wasn’t hard to keep the tempo, to not break step and alarm his partner.
“Prince William, are you alright?” She asked, hand on his shoulder squeezing a little bit.
William laughed, light and breezy. “Yes, yes, you just reminded me that I’ve been slacking on my piano lessons.” It was easy to smooth the pain away from the corners of his eyes, the slope of his jaw. It felt like a knife was being twisted into the joint of his hip.
Yes, he was fine.
Each step, each calculated twist, it wrung more and more of his resolve from him. He could feel his muscles knotting, desperate to keep supporting him and keep his steps light as air. But he was Queen Zeria’s son. He wouldn’t allow his mask to fall and reveal how he just wanted to let his leg buckle when he picked up his partner for an easy lift-and-twirl.
Finally, an eternity later, they finished their dance and bowed to each other, deep and a little silly. Courteously, one hand daintily holding his, she led him back to where the chairs were. It was difficult to sit, knowing he was just putting more weight on his hip, but it was much better than standing. She left, off to go check in with her mother--neither of them needed rumors forming--and he leaned back in his chair.
Chin tilted up slightly, William took a deep breath in, held, then slowly released it. He knew how to deal with this. Breathe through the pain. Release the tension with every exhale. This wasn’t new. It wasn’t life-threatening. It just hurt.
He was fine.
A hand on his shoulder made him jump, and Zeria’s soft, startled laugh let him know it didn’t belong to anyone who could mean him harm. “Are you alright, kada?” She asked, footsteps carrying her around to his front.
There was no lying to Zeria. William knew that wasn’t really a question. She was asking what was wrong, not if something was wrong. He let her press the back of her hand to his cheek, checking his temperature.
“Just my hip.” He said, leaning into the touch as he always did. “Lifts are a lot harder when it acts up.”
The grin when he spoke did nothing to soothe the sudden worry that he knew she felt. “Do you need to go lie down?” She held his face in her hands, and he could feel how she twisted. Looking for Taron, most likely.
“I don’t wanna cause a scene, it’s alright.” Wiliam said closing his eyes when she stroked his cheeks with her thumbs. She wasn’t pressing healing magic into him, but Zeria’s presence as someone who understood, who knew how hard it was to seem okay when you really weren’t was almost as nice. “I can stay here ‘till the night is over, no big.”
She hummed, the gentle wordless no she used when she shook her head to one of William’s questions. “It’s alright, kada, you won’t cause a scene. Leave it to us.” She dropped a kiss on the top of his head before letting go of him and stepping away.
Not a few minutes later, Mikara was there, just in time for Zeria to call everyone’s attention from the front of the room. She started giving some speech about how glad she was that everyone could be there, using her professional, happy-event-voice. Not two sentences in, Mikara had leaned down to let him wrap his arms around her and press his face into her shoulder. She lifted him up, quietly apologizing when she heard his breathing stutter from the pain of his leg shifting.
And then they were away, Mikara sweeping them out a back set of doors and through the night air. William shook in her grasp, biting his lip to keep from letting out the little pained noises that desperately wanted to escape. “So-orry, Mikky, I appre-eciate this.” He said, hating how his normally-smooth voice cracked and broke.
Mikara leaned her head against his and hummed softly. “It’s alright, you didn’t do anything wrong.” The arm around his shoulders squeezed, as good of a hug as she could manage right then. She easily shouldered through a side door of the palace and swept up the stairs, gait smooth as silk. Something expected of an Accipiter, but still deeply appreciated--he’d been dreading staying quiet while being jostled up the stairs.
The familiar silence of his own room washed over them when Mikara entered, William finally relaxing as she carefully laid him out on his bed. One hand remained under the knee of his bad leg, keeping it bent while she pulled one of his pillows over to prop it up. Gently, apologizing for the pain that flashed across her older brother’s face all the while, she took his ankle in her other hand and lowered his knee onto it. William’s head dropped back onto the pillows behind his shoulders, letting himself sink further into his mattress. Mikara’s hand pressed against his forehead, and when she spoke the worry in her voice made him start to wonder if he truly looked as bad as he felt.
“Do you need me to get a healer? Or some water?” She asked, her other hand resting feather-light on his old injury. He knew she could feel how the muscles spasmed and jumped, too tense from being overworked to respond to potential pressure any other way.
William shook his head. “No, no I’m honestly alright, I just--just needed to lie down.” He smiled and reached up to take the hand on his forehead in both of his. “Honestly. It’s just that old break acting up, Mikky. Not an attack, really.”
She hummed again, worry still not leaving her voice.
“Sit with me?” He asked, pulling her to sit on the edge of his bed. After some hesitation she obliged, sinking down onto the soft mattress next to him. “You know I don’t regret it, right?” He asked, looking up at where he knew her face was. “Flying back home after the cave-in happened? I’d do it again in a heartbeat, broken hip or not.”
She squeezed his hand, subtle shaking starting up. “We just...I just wish we’d been able to help more.” Her soft voice welled with emotion. He knew she was remembering getting back to the palace, knowing Lee was badly concussed and then getting the news that William was bed-bound even after healing. She was remembering seeing him on crutches for weeks afterwards, pale and shaking after just going down the stairs.
“Mikky.” William said, gently drawing her out of her mind. “I’m your prince, so I have a duty to take care of you and Lee, but I’m also your brother.” He smiled, pulling her down for a hug. Her arms wrapped around his neck, careful not to force him into any motion that might hurt him further. “If you guys are hurt or in trouble then I’ll do anything to help keep you safe. Anything.”
She nodded against his shoulder, drawing a shaky breath. She lingered, squeezing him a little more.
“Do you wanna stay, keep me company?” William asked, smiling. Another nod. “Alright, c’mon, we can just chill, read a book or something like we used to.” Finally, finally, Mikara smiled.
“That sounds nice, yes.”

Voicemail Whump
This is for @for-the-love-of-angst bc we were talking and voicemail whump came up!
TWs: Fire, explosions, crushing injuries
"Hey!” William’s voice was cheerful and bright, even as he admonished Jackson--whose laugh sang a little ways away. “You can talk in a moment Jack, wait your turn.” Wind from the blustery day whistled around the speaker.
“Anyway, we’re gonna be by in a little while Ma, just wanted to let you know. We’re just picking up some stuff, wanna make dinner for everyone.” William continued, as the wind cut out.
There was a few moments of muffled conversation, that sounded like William was asking Jackson which direction their desired groceries would be at. “Oh, and coffee creamer for you, ‘cause I found this s’mores kind? I think you’ll like it, it’s probably limited time since it’s getting cold out again. But yeah, tell dad don’t worry about dinner, we’ve got it aaaall under cont--”
A dull roar overloaded the speaker. Screams in the distance were just barely picked up, as an odd sort of crackle filled the soundscape. Hoarse coughing--Jack’s from the cadence--was a bit closer. “Fuck...” He moaned. “Wi...Will, babe?” He asked, as if he was looking around.
A near-silent, cracking groan answered him, wordless but pained.
“Shit, shit, okay, you’re--what?”
Silence. Crackling. “Flour? Why are you--oh my god, oh god, okay, no, no it didn’t. It’s, I don’t know how long we have. I gotta, what?”
“No!” Jackson said, after another moment. “No, I’m not leaving, we can...come on, I can get this off of you--YES I know you can...can survive this but I am NOT leaving you here alone, William.” Jackson shouted, voice starting to waver.
Scraping of metal against plastic and strangled, agonized noises overtook the other noises.
A crash. “Oh my god, okay, okay, it’s...it’s gonna...gonna be...man this, this smoke is...it’s a lot...even for...me...just gonna, gonna si...it...”
The crackling was all that could be heard, until another roar was abruptly cut off.

Taron is @for-the-love-of-angst‘s lovely man!! She was VERY lovely and let me borrow him for this wonderful little soft drabble.
TWs: Death mention
Throl Escamilla was always exhausted. Too tall and too thin, he looked like a stiff breeze could send him sprawling, and with how hard Accipiter training was, it felt like it too. He always had shadows under his eyes, even at the tender age of sixteen, and it seemed like no amount of sleep was enough to rid him of them.
But he tried. Going to bed early, catching naps when he could, nothing seemed to help. That afternoon, he hadn’t even meant to fall asleep. He’d been studying, reading up on combat techniques under a tree. The lake near the training grounds was peaceful and had a cool breeze that came off of it, along with a massive field of flowers in full bloom to lie in.
So Throl had. The grass beneath the tree was soft and smelled sweet, acting as a lovely cushion for Throl’s constantly aching limbs, and with the gentle breeze in his hair he hadn’t stood a chance. Violet eyes slipped closed, his book drooped to his chest and his breathing evened out into a slow, deep rhythm. It was the sort of all-encompassing sleep that happened because a body just couldn’t go any longer without it.
The kind that resembled death.
Scarred hands cupping his face and a deep, panicked voice woke Throl. “Ieno, Ieno, please no--” Taron’s voice was shaking, urgent, and when Throl opened his eyes, the man’s expression spoke of sheer terror.
“Captain?” Throl asked, voice hoarse from sleep. He was warm from the afternoon sun filtering through the leaves above, pliant in the strong arms that wrapped him in a hug. “What’s...what’s wrong?”
Taron’s heart was hammering against Throl’s chest, and in his drowsy state he rested his cheek against his Captain’s shoulder. The man was breathing hard, trying to calm down based on the pattern. “I...I thought...” He took another deep breath, he swallowed. “You were very still.” He finally said. “You scared me.”
Throl laughed, low and easy as his arms came up to hug Taron in return. “I didn’t mean to fall asleep, I apologize sir.” One of Taron’s hands came to rest on the back of Throl’s head, holding him tight. “I’m alright, I promise, just...just sleepy. Can’t seem to catch up.” He stifled a yawn as Taron laughed this time.
“Ieno...I think...I’m not sure the traditional Accipiter role is the best fit for you if you’re getting so exhausted.” He said, finally starting to really calm down. “How about we see if you’re more of a healer?”
