Angelopol/Kaganovskaya legitimately have one of the best Free Dances I have ever seen. Its unique, dramatic, and so genuinely entertaining I could watch it forever, and its honestly so just sad that they will be brushed aside in favor of the judge´s favorite pairs.

Daughter and only surviving child of Andrey Romanov and Natasha Mariinskaya. Joan lives in the Russian immigrant community of Voronaskaya, New Jersey. Yuri and Olga, her parents' friends, raised her and several other immigrant children.
Living in a community that adopted a semi-legal lifestyle exposed Joan to various criminal activities from a young age. Instead of teaching her to use firearms or sharp weapons, Yuri - her protective father figure - taught her how to copy other people's handwriting. Joan was well known in Voronaskaya as Yuri Egorov's 'favourite son' who followed the man everywhere. And since Yuri himself is the founder and respected leader of the Voronaskaya community, other members have grown accustomed to respecting Joan, who many predict will carry on Yuri's leadership to continue and expand the community. The only creatures in Voronaskaya that didn't obey Joan - were the crows that constantly swarmed the harbour area.
Yuri doesn't hide that Joan has a real mother and father who are still alive, although he carefully explains why they can't live with their daughter. Curiosity, an invitation to her mother's second wedding to a prominent police inspector, and sheer determination lead Joan to her mother's marriage in a Philadelphia church, where a group of strangers led by her father opened fire on the entire church. It was there that he met Josiah Haven, a rookie Pennsylvania State Police trooper, who convinced him that Andrey Romanov was a wanted Russian terrorist and invited him to join the mission to track and capture him.
Early Life
Political turmoil concerning Andrey Romanov's position as a popular politician and the unsafe situation in Russia prompted Natasha Mariinskaya to move from Russia to the United States. With all the paperwork taken care of by a family friend (Yuri), Natasha, who was already in her third trimester, finalized her divorce from Andrey and settled in Pittsburgh. For her daughter's safety, Natasha implores Yuri to take care of Joan and keep her away from anything to do with her and Andrey--including preventing Andrey from seeing Joan if he insists. As a debt of gratitude to the Romanov family for saving him during the war, Yuri agrees to raise Joan and keep her safe in Voronskaya, the small Russian immigrant community he has only been building for two years.
Little Joan mainly grows up and interacts with Yuri and Olga - Yuri's housekeeper and Natasha's attendant. Having never lived in Russia, Joan wasn't proficient in the language. Furthermore, because her facial features resembled East Asians (due to her mother's Yakutsk tribe genes), Joan was often teased and belittled by her peers. Therefore, she doesn't have many close friends in the community, except for a few immigrant kids Yuri cares for, like Karma and Shaking. She also doesn't like the crows and magpies that permanently live and surround their town — almost like a town icon, as the Voronskaya area is their native habitat. They are sometimes mean to her.
Yuri recognizes that to stay in Voronaskaya, Joan needs to learn their way of life. To stay true to his promise to Natasha and keep Joan away from the violent criminal side, Yuri refuses to teach Joan to handle firearms or sharp weapons, unlike other young people in the community trained in offensive and martial arts. On the contrary, Yuri tenaciously taught her how to write and read. Within seven years of age, Joan could write and even imitate the writing style of others as time went on, a critical aspect in falsifying documents, one of the main branches of illegal business held by Yuri on Voronaskaya.
Having always followed Yuri everywhere, including when meeting his business colleagues, Joan knows a lot about the intricacies of Voronskaya and the people Yuri works with. The girl observes Yuri's way of talking, negotiating, buying time, lying, and even threatening. Joan recognized the types of business their community conducted—illegal immigration, the black market, document forgery, errands—and even knew the location of the immigrant child trafficking under the guise of a community-owned orphanage in Lancaster. There, Joan first met Keenan (Q, played by prince), who had been her playmate for several years before Keenan disappeared.
Academically, Joan was more homeschooled than traditionally enrolled in public schools. She attended only elementary school at a nearby public school but did not attend college. She focuses more on following Yuri's business and developing it.
Personality
Adaptive, calculating, and resilient--Joan has a multifaceted personality. Still, ultimately, she is a person who strives to find out the truth. She can be reserved in unfamiliar company but exhibits a stubborn and daring streak, often challenging boundaries without hesitation. Joan's rule-flexibility and results-oriented mindset drive her to employ any means necessary to achieve her goals. Her past has left her cautious about new acquaintances, leading her to form quick judgments.
Remarkably, Joan excels in social interactions and boasts a talent for embellishment and deception. She views lying as a valuable skill, though she could have difficulty maintaining consistent falsehoods when faced with emotional distress. Her natural gravitation to curiosity occasionally compels her to recklessness, accompanied by a distinctive and somewhat unconventional sense of humour. While her curt communication style and sharp jokes may give the impression of unfriendliness, Joan has an underlying tendency to push people away.
In physical confrontations, Joan prefers evading rather than engaging. Although she lacks agility and physical strength, she compensates with speed and a respectable skill for climbing tall objects--courtesy of her childhood. She only resorts to combat when in urgency, and even so, it doesn't always guarantee her victory. She has a strong aversion to being wrong and is quick to find alternative justifications for her beliefs. Joan's determination to avoid underestimation fuels her pursuit of mastery in the art of deception.
Despite her somewhat unconventional and morally flexible approach to problem-solving, she still has a strong underlying belief in fairness and justice. She may not always adhere to traditional moral codes, but she often acts with the intention of righting wrongs and ensuring that those who deserve consequences face them. Joan's sense of justice might not align with conventional norms, but it's a driving force in her actions. Given her upbringing in a close-knit community, she highly values loyalty to those she cares about. She might go to great lengths to protect and support her friends and allies, even if it means bending or breaking specific rules--which sometimes clash with her sense of justice.
Her upbringing in a semi-legal immigrant community and her exposure to various criminal activities at a young age have influenced her personality traits, making her adaptable, results-oriented, and sometimes manipulative. As she matures, Joan undergoes a significant transformation as the story progresses into the 2030s and beyond. She becomes more stoic, mastering compartmentalizing her emotions to enhance her decision-making abilities. Joan's emotional journey is marked by unfamiliar feelings, including jealousy, rage, lust, and dependence. These emotions, previously foreign to her, introduce complexity into her life. Her challenge lies in balancing these newfound emotions while concealing them from outsiders.

Program reveals
I decided to dedicate a post to some special reveals of new programs. Well, special meaning reveals by skaters I like very much or announced programs that made me curious about the music. Some of these reveals also happened kinda “outside” the competition.
Sara Hurtado/Kirill Khaliavin - Beyonce RD I love them. And I think this dance more than fulfils all the requirements. The moves, the energy, everything is there. (I’m not that excited about this season’s RD as a whole but that’s another matter, I’m really trying). They presented this program as guests at Moscow junior open championships. They said in an interview that they wanted to keep their music and programs secret and present them straight out in a competition. I suspected that they didn’t skate the FD there after they found out the RD video made it on YT... And then hieloespanol revealed the next day that their FD is to Led Zeppelin :D Sara has so much energy, it occurred to me that she’s like Madison Chock, no matter how skilled their partners are, the ladies always steal the show. But look at him! Kirill is performing so well.
Mikhail Kolyada - Nutcracker SP This was a reveal in a gala exhibition after a summer camp and Misha appears in the video as a small 3cm figure shot from a weird angle and it’s a work in progress... but it’s Misha and it’s Nutcracker and that’s alll I need 😍
Ashley Caine-Gribble / Tim LeDuc - The White Crow SP  Maybe I shouldn’t say this but if there’s a team or a skater I absolutely cannot connect with in any way it’s them. So, I was shocked to learn they’d use Misha’s sacred music (no really, Misha’s White Crow makes me cry real tears every single time I see it). They were set to debut it at Cranberry Cup but unfortunately Ashley got covid... So, on the day of the comp Jordan Cowan from on ice perspectives presented the video he filmed earlier.  And I’m shocked until now. It looks so good and so natural and it’s just great. One of the main points of the choreography is to show their long long lines and it works so well for this program. Not joining the fanclub yet :p but they certainly do the music justice.
Shoma Uno - Michael Jackson medley Shoma and the many outfits. Shoma and the many programs. He debuted this program in The Ice show and he doesn’t know if he’ll use it as a SP or maybe an exhibition? What I read on Twitter every fan has a different opinion about it :D I’d never thought I’d see Shoma skate to Michael Jackson and here we have moonwalking!Shoma.
But I still can’t get over Oboe exhibition and am hoping against hope that this will be his new SP. (I was unsuccessfully hoping for three years Javi would use his Danny Boy ex - which is the best program in the world, maybe together with The White Crow - as a SP and never got it so “Oboe for SP” is my new project.)
youtube
Angelique Abachkina / Pavel Drozd - Puddit by Al Jarreau / Four seasons  I’ve just randomly came across them because they also skated at the Moscow open championships and because their story is so interesting (and also wt*), so I included them. Angelique is a French-Russian skater, she represented France in juniors but in 2018 she wanted to switch to Russia (who would want to do that? brave soul) to skate with Pavel but the French federation being the French federation didn’t release her. She retired and they released her after three years (I repeat three years!) and she unretired and went to Russia to skate with Pavel in the end.
BONUS: Vasilisa Kaganovskaya / Valeri Angelopol - Ave Maria FD This is not a program reveal because they already presented it at jr. test skates but it’s a costume reveal! And there’s never enough of their skating ;)
