The Citadel - January 3rd, 2278
“Hey, hey! Shawn!” Is what Shawn heard waking up from bed.
“What the fuck do you want, Glade?” Shawn said angrily waking up from his sleep.
“You hear that?” Glade said holding a handheld radio up to Shawn’s ear.
“Go bother Gallows with your radio silence.”
“Exactly! Radio silence! It’s been like that since yesterday I think we’ve finally found peace!”
“Clearly not, since your still bugging me.”
“Hey, your fault you didn’t stay at your shack in Megaton.” Glade said shaking Shawn and walked out of the supply closet turned guest room. Shane got up put on his armored Vault suit but couldn’t find his glasses.
“Aw fuck.” He whispered to himself. He left the room and ran into Dusk.
“Hey, rookie. Where are your glasses?” She asked.
“I don’t know they ain’t where I normally put them.” Shawn answered with a sigh.
“You’ll need them if you ever wanna beat my sniping record.” She said smirking.
“Ha! I could beat it without them.”
“Really?”
“No I’m short sighted.” They both shared a laugh and gave each other a fist bump. Shawn continued down the hall passing Gallows and giving him a nod and reached the Elder’s quarters.
“Sarah, have you seen my glasses?” Shawn asked leaning into the door way.
“Yes, I took them.” Sarah said turning her chair from the terminal to him.
“Why?”
“Do you know how Cross informs me about what you do when she travels with you?”
“…s-she does what?”
“Well she told me that you found more of those donut things that you gave me yesterday.” Sarah said getting up from her chair and crossing her arms. Shawn made a sigh of relief and walked into the room.
“Well, yes but what does that have to do with my glasses and why you have them?” He asked confused.
“I want some, not all but some.” Shawn sighed in response.
“Everyone else is bragging about having peace when so far I’ve gotten none.” He whispered to himself.
“What was that?”
“Nothing! I’ll get them!” Shawn said quickly leaving the room. Later Shawn brought a shopping cart with four boxes of Slocum’s Joe donuts.
“What are those?”
“Shut it, Bael. Let me have a little peace right now.” Shawn took the cart into the Citadel, with help from Gallows to get the cart up the stairs.
“You know you could’ve just carried the boxes, right?” Dusk said afterwards.
“Fuck!” Shawn said.
“Yeah, I didn’t wanna say anything.” Gallows said then walked past Dusk, who was laughing.
“Did the smarts go away with the glasses?”
“Shut up, Dusk.” He brought the boxes to Sarah’s room where she was waiting at her desk.
“Those are four boxes, why did I hear a shopping cart?”
“It was nothing, just give me my glasses back.” Shawn said placing the boxes on the desk. Sarah opened a drawer and took out his glasses but right before she handed them to him she held it over his head.
“You gotta be kidding me.” He said trying to reach.
“It’s so great being taller than you.” Sarah remarked.
“Shut up.”
“I’ve got like 5 inches on you and it’s hilarious to mess with.”
“Shut.” He responded, jumping up almost grabbing it making Sarah stand on her toes.
“Oh my god I hate you.”
“Sure you do.” She said putting the glasses on his face. He sighed.
“What? No thank you?”
“Absolutely not, I’m gonna go sleep where my glasses can’t be stolen.”
“Oh don’t be like that.”
“I am being like that.” He said walking out of the room.

Hey y'all! So in the spirit of the drawing challenges that have come before, I decided I wanted to work on my doodling skills with a Fallout twist this coming October. I came up with a mixed list of Fallout and generic prompts, and I plan to post my works on this blog each day of the spookiest month for the first annual Vaultoween! Maybe it'll just be me, but you are more than welcome to participate if you're interested, in any medium you choose: Ink, pencil, digital, watercolor, wordsmithing, even sculpture. Hell, I'd love to see some Fallout sculpture. Just tag your piece with #vaultoween2021 and I'll feature it on my blog! I'll also be sprinkling in some writing among my 31 art pieces, so watch for that. Have a lovely October everyone, and a Happy Vaultoween!
