Summary: Peter forgets it's Valentine's Day and panics that he hasn't gotten you anything, but that's not the only thing he's forgotten.
(gif not mine!)
Today was great. Peter felt great. He was having a good hair day, he had already finished a box of Twinkies, and he was revving to go for another run. There was only one thing that was bringing down Peter, and it was the fact that he felt something was wrong. Because you were nowhere to be seen, and it was already noon. Truthfully, Peter knew the reason he hadn't yet seen you was because he'd been running a muck all day, barely standing in one spot for longer than three seconds.
Peter frowned as he looked over the cafeteria, and after still not seeing you, he decided it was best to ask Jean where you were. Of course, he zipped to the hallway that you all often hung out at. "You all" being Scott, Jean, Kurt, Ororo, Jubilee, Peter, and you, of course. Peter frowned when you weren't there but felt slight relief at seeing Jean. Immediately prepared to call out for her, Peter was left frozen as he saw Scott handing Jean a bouquet along with candy and a stuffed animal.
Crap! It's Valentine's Day!
Running away as fast as he could, Peter grabbing the best dozen roses he could find as well as (y/f/c) before standing in front of all the stuffed animals and panicking to find which one he thought you would like best.
Back at the mansion, however, you were blissfully unaware of Peter's current predicament as you stood in your doorway. Finishing off the small daisy bouquet a younger mutant asked you to make. He thanked you profusely before running off. You smiled after the kid, thankful that for once you felt as if your mutation was truly helping.
Scott appeared in front of you suddenly, smiling widely, "Thanks for the bouquet, Jean loved it."
"Of course she did," You scoffed, "I made it."
Scott shook his head at your comment, watching as you created a small lily bouquet for a younger girl, "Peter hasn't come said hi to you yet?"
"Nope. Haven't even seen him once today."
"Jean and I just saw him," Scott motioned his hand down the hall as he watched you began making some babysbreaths, "He ran away pretty quick though, assumed he was coming to you."
You shrugged, "It's Peter."
Scott chuckled, bidding you a quiet goodbye before walking towards Jean, who had come out of her room. She smiled, waving at you before turning with Scott. You turned, heading into your room to put the babysbreath into a vase when a gust of wind burst past you, nearly knocking you over. Looking up, you saw Peter, standing with a beautiful bouquet of roses, (y/f/c), and a large teddy bear holding a heart. Tilting your head slightly, you smiled confusedly at Peter, who immediately began rambling.
"I am so so so sorry (y/n). I completely forgot today was Valentine's day, and almost all the stores were out of flowers, and yeah, I could've asked you, but that'd be so.. lame. So I ran all around until I found these roses and then... then there were so many stuffed animals and I didn't know which one you would want so I got the biggest one because I figured.. well... it's more stuffed animal. The roses might be a little tattered from the run, but I just wanted to get you something nice and make today special for you since it took me so long to... and I almost forgot about today completely and--"
"Peter.. slow down," You smiled, interrupting the boy after deciding you'd heard enough, "What are you talking about anyway?"
At this, Peter's eyes widened in horror, making you step back in slight worry, "I... I never asked you?"
"Asked me what, Pete?"
He groaned, using his free arm to rub his palm against his face, "I am the biggest idiot to ever idiot."
"Pete, what's going on?" You asked, stepping forward towards the silver-haired boy, smiling at the fact the bear he'd chosen was also silver.
"I was going to ask you.. to be, uh... be my Valentine," Peter spoke slowly, his cheeks burning red, "But clearly, I forgot to do that. And then I forgot today was Valentine's day. Okay, stop rambling... these are for you if you'd like to be my Valentine."
You smiled at the boy, quickly looking down at the babysbreath in your hands and making multiple pink roses appear in it, "I'd love to be your Valentine Pete."
"Thank god," He smiled, setting the bear and candy on your bed before handing you the roses.
You smiled, handing him the bouquet you'd made before grabbing a vase and putting the roses he gave you in them, "Thank you, Peter, for the roses and the bear and the candy. I wish I'd had a little more time to get you something."
He groaned, pulling you into a hug like he often did, though this time it felt slightly different. His arms held you a little bit closer, and he squeezed you a little bit tighter. You seemed to lean into him a bit more than normal, and couldn't resist the sigh that left your mouth. Smiling, you pulled back slightly to look at Peter.
"I am so telling everyone about this."
He gasped, glaring down at you, "No! You wouldn't!"
"I would."
Peter groaned, "They'll never stop teasing me."
"Oh well... next time, don't forget to ask me, Valentine."
"Next time?"
"Next time."
