Cyberchase Character Discussion (for your local Cyberchase trivia quiz) - #3: Jackie

Here we go again. I've made this style of post about Inez and Matt, and now it's Jackie's turn.

#3: Jackie

Let's start with her bio from "Meet the Cybersquad". Again, this almost 25 years old now, so who knows how much of it is still canon.

So, we get our introduction to Jackie. She's smart, funny, has a plan, and is over-the-top. Yeah, that's accurate so far.

For some reason, this page was not in her original bio when they released it in 2001. They went back and added this page later in 2002. This is the only bio that I have seen that had content added like this. This page lets us know that her favorite color is yellow, and she loves tofu burgers. I don't know if the show has confirmed that she is a vegetarian or vegan. She is shown to care about animals, so I wouldn't be surprised if she was canonically a vegetarian.

Her favorite book is one that I hadn't heard about until now: "Walk Two Moons" by Sharon Creech. In this story, the 13 year old protagonist, Salamanca (Sal) Hiddle, goes on a cross-country road-trip to visit her mother. There are themes of coming to term with loss and building new relationships. It makes me wonder if, at some point in development, the show-runners might have been interested in giving Jackie a tragic loss similar loss to Sal. I haven't seen the later seasons where they bring in the kid's families, but I don't believe they have gone that route so far.

For her favorite music, we get two bands: Destiny's Child and NSYNC. These are very much a product of the time. Destiny's Child actually disbanded in 2006, as the members went off to do solo work. NSYNC disbanded in 2002, and then reunited in 2023. Well, we know that Jackie loves her R&B and Pop music, so I'm sure she found other bands to follow since then.

Her favorite movie is Shrek, which only came out in 2001. Matt and Inez have definitely sent her all the memes that have come out about that movie since then. Her pet peeves are bugs and anything messy. Yeah, that still tracks. She has a "Wheaton Terrier" named Brandy. I don't know if the spelling has changed over the years, or if they just made a spelling mistake in her bio, but I have only seen it spelled as "Wheaten".

Jackie also gets a bio from Nelvana, which is pretty cool. I've only been able to find surviving archives of bios for her and Matt. They have sections for Inez, Dr. Marbles, Motherboard, The Hacker, Buzz, and Delete. However, all of those are left empty in the surviving archives of the pages. I don't know if bios were completed for those other characters.

We get emphasis on the point of Jackie being organized. We also get more insight into how she solves problems. She uses diagrams, charts, and graphs among other things. She also touched on her tendency to use initials as shorthand for things. I remember the Blue Bunny Place (B.B.P) from "Of All The Luck". Was she hip in 2002? Is she still hip now? I'm not qualified to say.

We also get an introduction to Jackie through the official prequel web comic, "How It All Started: Episode 3". We see Jackie making her own skirt out of strips of fabric. I assume it is for cheer-leading.

Narration: Meanwhile, on Earth, three kids who don't know each other are about to have the adventure of their lives.

Jackie: I gotta organize this stuff

When they picked her favorite line as "Make room! I gotta pace!", they probably picked her most iconic line. She loves video games, piano, and foreign languages, which is great. We do get to see her play an unnamed videogame during Season 1 Episode 25 "A Battle of Equals". The hero "San Man" is trying to save the environment by stopping the villains that are trying to pollute it. One villain is called Johnny Grime. There are number riddles, and they are the same sort of riddles that the kids solve during the episode.

I don't think we ever see her playing piano or speaking a second language on the show. Quick question: What are those shoes that she wears? Inez has a pair or blue boots. Matt has a pair of red and white sneakers. Jackie's shoes are a little harder to place. They are purple, and they have considerable heels. Were these meant to be high-tops? I don't know that I've seen high-tops with heels in that size before.

The big thing that people remember Jackie for are her dramatic outbursts. And her most iconic one is probably from Season 3 Episode 4 "A Piece of the Action". You can tell that someone in the animation department had fun with this one.

Jackie: Great! Now we'll never get into Hacker's control center. And if we can't get in there we can't stop Hacker. And if we can't stop Hacker, he'll erase Motherboard's memory with the magnetite! Cyberspace is doomed! Doomed I tell you! Doo-hoo-hoo-hoomed!

Matt: And the award for best dramatic outburst of today goes to Jackie!

Jackie: Matt!

What else can I say about Jackie. Well, she has an amazing tolerance for cold weather. Even in Arctic Cybersites, she still made do with the same short skirt.

Anyway, here's the prototype for Jackie. She had a completely different hairstyle and outfit. She was also called Julie. Again, I consider her current design an upgrade from the prototype.

We get more discussion on Jackie being a gymnast and artist. She loves Instant Messaging. I guess that would have been AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) at the time.

Billy Cranston canon and au children, adopted and otherwise.

WOW they tried hard to get this character paired up with a girl. There are so many potential girls. If I miss one please let me know. I’m adding adoption because we know while Minh is his co-ward by way of Zack…they basically adopted her. She’s basically their adopted kid.

Canon children of Billy Cranston:

Minh Kwan. Aged about late teens, probably seventeen at most. She still is legally taken care of by Billy and Zack after all. Minh is the orphaned daughter of Trini that Billy and Zack co-parent. He and her definitely seem to have a lot healthier relationship after the movie. She’s a yellow ranger, like her mother. Technically I should put her name Kwan then middle name then Minh but I don’t think her middle name’s been revealed? And when I find out Trini’s I’ll fix that as well

Alternate reality children of Billy Cranston:

Marge (last name unknown);

Marge and Billy were the two smartest people in their school, and Marge asked him out to one of the school dances. They were both sent to the dark dimension when a monster, Madame Woe, mistook Marge as a power ranger. After, Billy continued seeing her because he felt bad. They ended up with a son, Jordan Cranston. Seventeen. His parents are separated and he doesn’t see Billy. Terrified to tell his mom he’s gay. His entire life is plotted for him, and while he’s brilliant he’s feeling a little bit….stifled. He’s been spending time with the punks of his high school and might be falling hard for a red ranger. Which is illogical because he’s never even seen his face. Jordan sells answers and helps people cheat. Not because he needs to, but it’s the only way he knows how to rock his life off the carefully plotted course it’s on. Easier said than done.

Violet Arias;

Violet was Billy’s high school art class partner. She was another one of the smartest kids in their school, and was very kind. Although they fell out of contact for a few years, they interned at the same company, and reconnected. One thing led to another, and they have two kids, a house, and a very friendly relationship. They decided not to get divorced until both of their daughters, Indigo and Lavender, were eighteen. They’re still good friends so it’s not like it’s a super big deal, after they talked it out.

Lavender, aged 16, has brought her girlfriend over on more than one occasion. The only big problem was the fact the girlfriend is a vampire. Billy and Violet had to, on top of comprehensive sex education, subject the two to comprehensive blood sharing education. Lavender is a vegan and very artistic. She’s fascinated by Rita and her putties, to the panic of her parents. Lavender is honor roll, A+ type student. She’s preppier by far than her younger sister. Constantly doing things on purpose to make Indigo leave her room. Such as turning off the electricity when she knows Indigo needs to get out and has saved her stuff. Aka big sister notices little sister js doomscrolling and does something about it. Lavender is not associated with a color.

Indigo is fourteen. She’s figuring herself out. She’s too smart for her own good, and is very hacker punk. More rebellious than her sister, and likes thinking she’s smarter than her dad. Billy is constantly left a bit flabbergasted at the audacity of his tiny child. Everyone who knows them considers this hilarious. She’s just like him, down to the glasses. Indigo wants to hack into the morphing grid however, and that’s a bit concerning. Indigo when she gets older will be a yellow ranger. A very very snarky yellow ranger.

Laura (last name unknown);

Laura and Kimberly were both scoutmasters for their Angelette troop (power rangers version of girl scouts). Billy was hoping to get data on a rare solar storm, and he and Laura began flirting. Billy and Laura got together, and then shortly after a kid, got divorced amicably. Turns out, Laura and Kim were a better fit in this reality, as well. Laura and Billy's single kid is William Cranston, aged 24. He wants to be a weather man and is going to school for it. Being a meteorologist has been his dream since forever. He's a green zeo ranger. He gets on fine with Billy, who never remarried, and his step mom of Kim, who adores him. Mild mannered, but he's not the kind of person to forgive easily. once he's been wronged in a way that would completely break his trust, that's it. He's done. It makes it difficult given an ex is also a teammate. Billy's a great source of advice for William, and very helpful in William's career. He's always offering ways to balance his civilian life and his work life, and gadgets to make his work life easier. Doesn't always work, but it's appreciated. Kim is also helpful in William's life, and he enjoys going on hikes and things with her. He appreciates his mom and Kim sat him down and asked permission once they were ready to properly date. It meant a lot. Of course the answer was yes, and he considers his step mom as a good friend. William's considering he might maybe be a little bit bi. for a villain. which...well. weirder things have happened to him.

Cestria;

Solaro Cranston is 25, and a very unusual hybrid. the Aquitarans were unsure if this could even be a thing, but Cestria (later realizing he was more of a Cestrio) and Billy decided to see anyway. Surprisingly, human and Aquitaran genetics are compatible. Solaro has some Aquiraran features, such as the face spotting, and needs to stay hydrated, but he's more human than Aquitaran. He spends his summers on earth however, with Billy, who is an interplanetary dilplomat with his now fully transitioned husband. Solaro is not associated with a color, but he is good friends with the legacy rangers. He's never been chosen by a color, but doesn't feel left out. Almost as smart as his parents, but like Cestrio he wants to be a healer in some form. Is working on getting into medical school. Billy is super proud of him. He and Cestrio are also considering a second child, but via other means, and Solaro is slightly weirded out by this but is overall supportive of his parents. Often gossips with Minh when he sees her. He quickly adopted her as adorable little sister.

Trini Kwan;

Minh, in this reality, Billy is the unnamed father. Minh and a younger brother, aged 10. Hao and Minh go to live with Zack after Billy inadvertently gets their mother-his wife-killed. as of course, he tells them the truth. Even after, they don't forgive him, but Minh does somewhat reconcile. Hao, however, needs time. Nobody blames the kids for not being able to forgive, least of all Billy.

Kimberly Hart;

Kimberly and Billy made a pact in early highschool if both of them were single by the time they were thirty, they'd get together. Incredibly, this happened. They have one son, Waylon Cranston. Aged 18. Waylon is a blue ranger and a gymnast. Not interested in romance or a lot of friendships, he's more goal oriented, and that means he's got a forty four step plan on becoming a gold medalist and the youngest geneticist in the world. For his own good, Billy actually suggested he see if Mighty Morphin Blue or Pink or...any color...work. Blue likes him. Waylon hates this but it's getting him out of his head and forcing him to learn how to be a team player. Still not interested in romance, but hey, nothing wrong with that. All Billy and Kim are happy over is that he's talking to people.

Zack Taylor;

They adopted Minh together basically. But in an alternate reality they got married and have two adopted kids, Harlow, aged 19, Selena, aged 17, and one kid by surrogate, Dylan, aged 9.

Harlow was adopted by Zack and Billy when he was seven, and is the first kid they adopted. He and the senator bonded over a shared love of music, and breakdancing. He bonded with Billy a little bit later over Billy mentioning that like Harlow, he used to have a fear of fish and water, and it was fine feeling irrational fear. Harlow tries really hard to make both his dads proud. He's got a lot of pressure he puts on himself. He's a perfectionist. Everything has to be perfect all the time. Billy's the first to try to get him to see the beauty in sometimes things just...not...being...perfect, and it's okay if he's not immediately good at things. Tommy Oliver is his favorite honorary uncle, and is a huge help with how he feels and living in a family. Is the blue ranger, alongside Selena, who is the orange ranger (there is no pink on their team).

Dylan was born a couple years before Selena was adopted. rambunctious kid. Gives his dads a heart attack all the time. His mom was Aisha, and his dad was Billy. There were long talks about it, but it was actually decided by a coin flip because Aisha could see they were psyching themselves out, and were going to talk themselves out of a choice they very much wanted. So she took charge for them. They love Dylan, and Dylan loves his dads, and his brother, and his sister. He likes music and playing pirates. He's one of the smartest kids in his grade school class, but Billy and Zack want him to make friends, so he's not allowed to jump a year. He does get supplemental lessons by both of them, though, so he doesn't stop being curious. Not associated with a color.

Selena has a lot of self doubt about being in this family, and doesn't get why Billy and Zack keep going to bat for her. They go to bat for her because they see in her a lot of themselves, and a lot of Tommy. She's a cheerleader at their school, and does baby sitting as a side job. She struggles to feel worthy of being the orange ranger, but she likes her new brothers, and she likes her dads, and she likes being able to show some of how grateful she feels back to them.

In a small variation, Minh would come live with all three of them as their sister and yellow ranger.

Jason Lee Scott;

Jason and Billy weren't actually expecting to get together; this kind of just. Happened. Jason's dad disinherited him, and Billy's parents welcomed Jason in with open arms. They've been together since Jason came back and became a scuba instructor. Billy became a science professor, Jason is still a scuba instructor. They have two kids, one adopted and one was a magic spell turned oopsie baby. Jackson is adopted, but not human. He's a Xybrian who ended up on earth after a freak accident with his parent's ship. He's purple haired, and Billy and Jason offered to take him in until a good Xybrian option could be found. No better options were found. He's 27 but still going to school as lifespans of Xybrians are far far longer than humans. He halves his time. school year is on Xybria, breaks are on earth. Extremely protective of little brother Zachary, who is seventeen. He does find it a bit of a whiplash, going from non psychic society to planet full of them, but he's adaptable. Is interested in becoming a cartographer. while associated with purple, he's not interested in being a ranger as of right now.

Zachary was intended to be something entirely different than what he is. Vile created the perfect copies of Billy and Jason's strengths and combined them. Unfortunately, this was what they themselves considered their strengths. Billy's intelligence of course, but his sense of fashion as well. Jason's fighing skills yes, but also his adaptability, and his sense of humor. Vile deemed this a failure, but instead of a spell destroying the young man, he got turned into a baby due to quick thinking from Zack and Rocky. Billy and Jason figured since he existed, they'd just raise him. He's fairly well adjusted, excitable, and really passionate. A little bit of a himbo, a little bit too smart for his own good too. not associated with any color. He was named Zachary Rocky Scott in honor of the two who managed to keep him alive.

Tommy Oliver;

After surviving the world of the coinless together, the two got very close. Tommy was the first person Billy came out to, Billy was the first guy Tommy went all the way with. They have one daughter. Her name is Amanda Oliver. Aged 19. Amanda is adopted, and completely spoiled by her dads. She wants for nothing, and she loves them back deeply. She's a karate instructor, and a power ranger mentor. She's got a really open relationship with her parents, and trusts them to trust her, and they do. A little bit of a heartbreaker, finds it difficult to lie, loves science and kids.

Eugene Skullovitch;

After being best friends as kids, then not, then sort of friends, then maybe more...they have two kids. Charlie Cranston, aged twenty two, and Oscar "Skid" Cranston, aged twenty. Charlie and Oscar are both via a science experiment, where Billy combined his and Eugene's genetic codes in a randomizer, to see if anything would happen that was viable as a sperm and egg equivalent. Yes, he got permission for this from Eugene. He sold the patent, and lives happily with his and Eugene's kids. Charlie is a blue solar ranger. She has been since she was seventeen. Billy didn't know at first and when he found out....he grounded her for not telling him. Then came back thirty minutes later, apologized, ungrounded her, and told her to be careful. Eugene doesn't get it as much but he's trying, he really is. He worries more than Billy, though Billy does often find himself staring up at the stars on late nights with tea in his hand, knots in his stomach and hoping he sees his daughter for Christmas. It's different, somehow, when they're in space and not in town.

Oscar is friends with a Bulkmeier, of course. He's the family "problem child", in a general sense. The prankster, and he's super smart. He is mild enough nobody really thinks he's as smartass and clever as he is. His entire motivation is cause as much chaos as possible. He used to prank his sister once a month until she left, and he's the one who let slip she's a power ranger because she was thrown through a building in front of him. She didn't know he knew, and he's been apologizing since via no more pranks, and gifts. so many gifts. Her favorite foods, updates on her favorite bands, jewelry she'd like. He doesn't have to but he feels bad. This was the closest they ever got to the family splintering. Trini, Zack, and Jason do their best to help the three deal with Charlie in space. Oscar works as a janitor, isn't really interested in dealing with school or anything. He likes doing his hobbies while having a stable job.

variation; they get together when he helps Skull with his newborn son. Spike takes care of his little siblings, and helped Oscar get his nickname and his current job. Billy is eternally caring to his adopted kid, and does the best he can by Spike.

variation 2; Charlie becomes Charlie from A Team. This time, Billy DOES ground her. she never hears the end of it

Matthew Cook;

When Billy loses his ranger status and goes to work for Grace, Matt is also there as the green ranger. Billy keeps his distance for a while; the guy is more or less a massive dick. Especially over something that wasn’t Billy’s fault. Billy’s also not taking pot shots at his friends or Zordon over it with Matt. They start dating after the War, and Matt’s final betrayal. More because he finally wore Billy down, but Billy had a good time hanging out with him again. And then both of them had the rude realization at the same time of “I am attracted to this man-fuck he noticed-oh he’s into it” which snowballed. They adopted one kid, and had another via help from alien technology mixed with a little magic. Nora, aged 26, is a professional hockey player. Matt decided he was going to support her sport even if it wasn’t his sport. Billy quickly developed a love of baseball at one of her events when she was little. Mostly because this game is ridiculous. Though he does worry about her on the ice. A lot. They adopted her when she was five, and she’s loud and enthusiastic and very rarely is she ever sad or genuinely upset. Her opinion on things is mostly “be friendly at it or challenge it to a fight” and generally speaking the options work enough she’s never needed to figure out other plans of action. She met her wife during a game. She’s from an opposing team. Nora gave her a concussion; she knocked Nora’s front teeth out. This was par for the course and they bonded in hospital. Billy’s still trying to figure out HOW. Matt thinks it’s hilarious. Is the green dragon ranger. She is legitimately feared by most and can solve most problems without suiting up. The threat is enough.

Their other child is Abner. He’s socially transitioning, he’s 18. He wants to be a writer. He and his sister have a very loving if slightly antagonistic relationship. When Abner came out to her, Nora’s response was “well now you don’t need to steal my clothes. Give them back” which lead to an argument but not the one Abner was expecting. They negotiated the clothing situation. Abner’s not giving back a pair of boots; they look way too good on him. Matt and Billy both support him. Matt sometimes slips up with name, however he’s quick to correct himself. Billy helped Abner choose his name, and was the first person he came out to. Abner is a little self conscious about his looks, and about his public image. More in regards to if he’s going to make his family look bad. Like Matt he tends to brood and focus on negative details way too much. Like Billy he tends to strive for perfection and his vocabulary makes it hard for people to understand him.

#I feel in my gut there’s twice as many women he’s been forced with #I can’t remember them and I don’t want to trawl through every single episode #but I will add them as needed #also I feel like Billy would have at least two with the girls because he’s….stubborn #he feels nothing once okay he’s going to try again #oh shit maybe this isn’t for him #but yes there’s a couple only children #purely based on how much I like the character #I’m so sorry #vibes are deciding this

Get to Know the Fanfic Writer

I got tagged by @hrh-spinach ! I haven’t been long on tumblr and haven’t followed a lot of my fellow fanfic writers yet, so if you stumble on this and want to give it a try, consider yourselves invited to :)

When did you post your first-ever fanfic?

2005, when I lived in the USA (no relation between the two facts, though). But started writing as a teen in the glorious early 2000s I guess (yes, I’m ancient, ’83 baby you guys!)

First Character(s) you wrote?

Wrote for myself? Louis de Pointe du Lac from the Vampires Chronicles by Ann Rice. I loved Louis – but never hated Lestat though!

For actual online publishing value, I don’t remember if it was a Vision of Escaflowne fanfic (I was an anime dork) or a Michael Lee fic from Witch Hunter Robin. My most serious fanfic was starring Michael though. If you don’t know him he was a poor teenage white hat hacker imprisoned by the shady organization he hacked into for funsies. He was then forced to do computer related tasks for them to be allowed to stay alive. Poor kid even wears dogtags. Little did I know it was the start of my obsession for dog-coded characters that end up paying a heavy price for just wanting to have fun…

Main Character(s) you're currently writing?

Why, Jesse Pinkman of course.

It always sounds a little ridiculous to state it this way but I relate to him on so many levels... I'll keep it at the fact that his character development actually really helped me realize there were some things I owed to myself to refuse…

He is an advocate for anyone who's struggled with addiction, has ever felt inadequate, out of place and belittled for it... I love how so many different people will reinterpret and embrace him thanks to that.

Character(s) you haven't written about before but plan to soon?

Diane Pinkman? It’s the chapter after the one I’m finishing and I’m looking forward to writing her. Two Sides of a Coin has just been a huge excuse for writing from the POVs of many of the characters that are still alive around the timelines of Ozymandias/Granite State/Felina.

My favorite one of these chapters is Andrea’s though.

I'm still surprised I included Walt as a regular POV through the fic, never thought I had it in me to write him (but then I also wrote from Welker's and Kenny's of course Todd's POV, so... I have this need to understand the rationales that sustains assholes and what/who scares me... It's a trauma thing ^^;).

Fandom(s) you're currently writing?

Breaking Bad/BCS mostly. I’m a huge fan of Charlie Broker too - and of whenever Aaron Paul stars in a story that criticizes toxic masculinity, so I have a Black Mirror WIP as well.

Would love to write about some of my favorite French shows (Black Hearts, l’Opéra, very recently Polar Park a brand new series that I just binged, or Engrenages, or the Holy Grail Quest parody Kaamelot… so many of them!) but that would not touch many readers and for fanfics, I’m a comment whore.

Besides, I want to finish my 4 WIPs (I count the post ElCamino fic that will follow Two Sides of a Coin as an ongoing WIP because I’ve started writing it already in order to stay sane while I finish TSoaC!)

I also need to focus on my personal stories, so, not enough time for other fandoms!

Platonic Pairing(s) you're currently writing?

Oh my… I have this silly AU where Walt gets decommissioned and Jesse and Gale get to work together in the Superlab and they develop this silly puppy cute friendship. I was afraid it would be a bit morbid given what happens in canon, but I don’t know… I really think they could have been a support for one another in different circumstances! It's a crack fic this one XD

Next chapter: Gale feeds Jesse healthy food and Jesse is a bit upset that he has been given vegan food without knowing it because vegan food is weird, ok (even though he liked it)! As a retaliation, he will call Gale’s bullshit regarding the “freedom” of addicts to buy and use drugs once they’re hooked – especially when you produce a super pure crystal that is even more addictive.... Hypocritical much, Gale?

Jesse calling out anyone’s bullshit is always a treat to write!

Romantic Pairing(s) you're currently writing?

Cliff and Lana Stanfield from Black Mirror’s “Beyond the Sea”. I really love how the interpretation of the characters’ relationships evolve as you delve into the story. Not going to spoil but there is one scene between them that really turns the table and reveals the truth of their relationship and that really got to me…

Your top AO3 tags?

Character study would be the main, because I take writing fanfic as a character building exercise. A nice sandbox to practice in.

Toxic masculinity is also one of the main topics I end up regularly tackling one way or the other…

Backstory brainrot is another one, I guess? I can’t help falling into interpretative backstory madness…

Current platform you use for posting?

A long time ago, I used to be on fanfiction.net… But the interface hasn’t evolved and feels less user friendly. Nowadays only on AO3. I’m aware of the controversies. I’m ashamed to admit I haven’t looked into them because the platform is convenient and I’ve read some great fics there…Not proud of that.

Snippet of the WIP you are currently working on?

I’m not good at snippets! I tried and was about to share around 2500 words of next chapter ^^; So I won’t!

Regarding Two Sides of a Coin, I would love to publish next chapter soon(ish). I would actually love to start publishing my ElCamino/post ElCamino sequel sometimes at the end of the year but that doesn't seem realistic...

Next chapter is from Todd's POV (the last one normally, I cannot with him anymore but I have to commit to my writing plan no matter how hurtful it is to my soul!). I’m realizing most of the structure of the chapters of Part 4 will be built on the same model: flashbacks that allow me to give into my backstory frenzy and “current events” (we have made it to early July by now I think, September is getting closer!).

This chapter heavily rests on the working theory I’ve developed in the fic that even if Todd and Jesse were not friends per se during the Vamonos era, they had some kind of friendly relationship going on, though Jesse would have kept a bit of distance.

I see Todd as relationship starved and he started projecting more onto his intractions with Jesse than there really was (just always rememer this will never be a Todd/Jesse fic, ty!). Jesse on the other hand, at this point of the series, had been efficiently cut from all his supports - by Walter of course (Andrea, his family…) but also by Mike. The scene where Skinny and Badger stop by to bring the roadie cases and Mike is on the look-out so Jesse kicks them out asap is so sad and kind of infuriating. Full confession, I'm not a Mike stan even though I love him as a character and love what he brings to the story. So… regarding dudes his age that his two “mentors” allow him to talk to… Jesse’d have been limited to Todd at this point. And he needs connection, we know that… which is why I think and explore the idea that they did have some form of camaraderie that meant something very different for each of them until the events Dead freight…

Back to next chapter, Todd is really hard to write, so I take my time… I actually want to go a bit further with his character study and test some of his limits without breaking out of character. Tough ballance! It’s a bit of a challenge right now…

This is the best kind of pipeline; the gradual step up from enemies to lovers is just <chef’s kiss>. To match the prompt with the ideation, both Admin M and Assistant Admin Kasi will be posting some ideas for you! Enjoy~

Admin M:

Working for Character A is ASS. Their sidekick, Character C, really gets the brunt of the shit-work, especially after they team up with their hero partner, Character B. Just when Character C thought it couldn’t get any worse, they wake up to find themselves having been kidnapped by Character A & B’s arch nemesis along with Character D, Character B’s sidekick. Bored with their situation (and trying to not hate each other even more than they already did), Characters C & D hang out and talk while they wait to be rescued. They soon discover they have incredibly complimentary powers, hopes, and dreams. Who the hell needs heroes when two sidekicks can totally overpower them, right? They vow to team up (hesitantly). This psuedo-partnership slowly moves from hate, to appreciation, to acquaintances, then to hate-flirting. This energy comes to a peak one night after they’re recovering from a failed mission where they tried to take revenge on their kidnapper villain on their own. Blame leads to a fiery argument and then an even more fiery night.

Character A is a vigilante hero has always been the protector of their section of the city; for 15 years, no one dared to cross their territory (unless they were a special kind of stupid). This is only solidified after another vigilante (Character B) moves to town to support their partner’s new career. Guess what? They still need to do hero stuff, and it’s not like they can commute an hour away (not if they wanted to be back in time to get dinner on the table), so why not just have two heroes in the same section? What’s the harm?

The phrase “this town ain’t big enough for the two of us” was practically invented just for these two. Characters A and B are cowboys who run rivaling ‘gangs for good’ in their small western town. These two groups would act as protectors, shooing away snakes, wrangling cattle, and making sure the town was safe from robbers. The two groups, however, kept showing up to the same incidents, and 16 burly cowboys in one house helping an older lady who fell is just RIDICULOUS. It may be time to end this feud, once and for all.

Being a hacker is hard work. Okay, wait, let me rephrase: being an ethical hacker is hard work. Character A is hired regularly as a security consultant for large corporations. Basically, they attempt to simulate a hacking attack on their client’s system, then point out potential holes in their defense and make recommendations. It’s interesting work that pays well, so Character A can’t complain too much, but their job is made just that much more difficult when they’re helping a Meat Packing company against a cyber attack. Who the HELL knew that vegan hackers were this GOOD?! Who even is this person?!?!!?

For the entirety of their existence, Characters A & B have been in a tense symbiotic relationship which has only been exacerbated by their, well, overall hate for the other. It wasn’t enough that they wanted to “throw hands” or anything, but it was enough that they wanted to mess with one another. Character B would cause Character A’s seas to rise on a certain rhythm, and Character A would huff before inspiring the fleas on their back to plant some sticks on Character B. It was mostly in good fun, but as the centuries continued to pass, they found that they had a deep-seeded longing for one another that they couldn’t shake. Finally, they decide that enough is enough and they attempt to touch again for the first time in a million years. The fleas, however, kick up a racket and try to stop them from exploring their feelings, citing things like “IF THE MOON CRASHES INTO THE EARTH, ALL LIFE WILL DIE” and other nonsense.

Selling potions of the gods is hard work, but collecting sweat from the brows of spent gladiators was the easy part. The more dangerous side really came from the other merchants of “beauty potions” and “aphrodisiacs.” When it came to blood, sweat, tears, and money, they became downright deadly.

When two politicians from the same political party decide to run for office against one another, they appear to have a fairly amicable relationship in the public’s eye (at least, as amicable as politics can get). Behind the scenes, however...Character A & B were absolutely feral. This hate fed into a poorly conducted night of romance which they both regretted. The following morning, they both stumbled out of the same bed, went to the same political debate, and told the other how they really felt about their stances, warts and all (and by all, let’s just say they weren’t exactly PG about what they had experienced the night before).

Here are some possible one-liners / comebacks:

“I’d agree with you, but then we’d both be wrong.”

“I’ve found puddles on the ground deeper than you.”

“I’ll never forget the first time we met... But I’ll keep trying.”

“What’d your parents do? Drop you to see if you’d turn off and on again?”

“They say opposites attract. I hope you meet someone who is good-looking, intelligent, and cultured.”

“I'm trying my absolute hardest to see things from your perspective, but I just can't get my head that far up my ass.”

“There's no need to repeat yourself. I ignored you just fine the first time.”

“Isn’t there a bullet somewhere you could be jumping in front of?”

“1 universe, 8 planets, 7 seas, 7 continents, 809 islands, 196 countries, and I had the unfortunate luck of meeting you.”

A. Admin Kasi:

Hero A was by the books, always following rules and never stepping on the toes of the law...that is, until a villain comes to town who’s stronger than anyone Hero A has ever faced before. Cornered, Hero A has no choice but to illicit the help of Hero B, a reckless, law-breaking newbie. Unfortunately for Hero A, there was no other choice (believe them when they say they checked). The more the two work together to defeat the villain, the closer they get and they slowly realize that maybe, just maybe, they don’t completely hate each other.

“Getting married to someone with superpowers was supposed to be great! Who wouldn’t want to be with someone with powers equal to a god? It really was a dream come true, but then, they started being a ‘hero.’ Now, the only time I ever see see them is passing glances in the house when they’re leaving for whatever new ‘hero work’ is needed. Which is always. So, with incredible pettiness, I decided I needed to do one thing: become their arch nemesis. How else was I supposed to get their attention?” AU

Hero A loved their roommate. They had the exact same schedule -- night jobs that took them both out of the house at the same time. There were no loud noises through the day because they were both sleeping, and they shared dinner together every night before heading out for a productive evening. It seemed like the ideal situation, and the two fell into a routine of mutual ease. It was perfect...that is, until Hero A started noticing bruises on their roommate that seemed really familiar to where they hit their arch nemesis the previous night.

Villain A had always thought Hero A had the absolutely dumbest abilities. Who the hell would ever want that ability to speak to and control birds? BIRDS?! Even though the power was ridiculous, THAT hero somehow became the protector of the city. Hero B was always in their shadow, second best in terms of recognition even though Hero B clearly had the better skills. They didn’t think Hero A even deserved the title until a situation comes up that requires Hero A’s exact abilities. Begrudgingly, Hero B has to ask for help. That being said, after seeing Hero A in action, their powers (and Hero A) are pretty okay.

Hero A was retired. You hear that?? RETIRED! Ever since a bullet went through their leg, making fighting incredibly painful, Hero A was content to give up that life and spend the rest of it doing mindless hobbies. This semi-retirement was pulled to a screeching halt when one day, their old nemesis was dumped on their doorstep, beaten within an inch of their life. After a lengthy recovery and a whole lot of questions, it turns out that Hero A’s old partner had gone completely off the rails. The two ex-enemies now have to team up: the cranky former hero and the villain with a newfound moral code. One night of careful scheming after another leads the two to become closer and for all lines to become blurred. At the end of it all, they couldn’t tell where hero ended and villain began.

Mercenary was a loose term; Character A did all jobs, as long as they were paid in the end. It spanned from killing, to spying, to escort missions, and they were content with them all. Character A barely even read the contract of the next job, only seeing the massive payout and disregarding any other details. They regret that now. Turns out, their new job is to guard the one person they hate more than anything: their rival -- a harsh, illegitimate business person that screwed Character A over too many times to count. Now, they’re forced to spend every waking moment together, but Character A isn’t finding it quite as horrible as they originally thought.

Normal person normal and geek relatable

When it comes to truly normal characters in comics, you’re more likely to find them in comic strips like Cathy, Archie (it does have one) and Doonesbury than you do in superhero comics. It seems with superhero fans, their idea of a normal character is usually another superhero fan. Maybe that’s not true for all of them, but it does make you wonder who do they relate to more.

Statistically speaking, there are a lot of people who don’t read comics, let alone that often so the glorified comics fan character is a character most people aren’t in the real world. I’d call this character geek relatable, if because they’re relatable only to geeks. Even if it’s not true for all of them, they’re really not characters most people relate to. It’s not a matter whether if they’re bullied or not since normal people can also get bullied themselves.

To put it this way, most people aren’t like Barry Allen. Not just because most people aren’t scientists, but also because most people aren’t regular readers of superhero comics. In the real world, you’re far likelier to encounter an Iris West than a Barry Allen. Even then, some of the scientists I know aren’t big superhero comics fans either so a character like Barry Allen would be this rarefied.

I’ve been around people who aren’t regular superhero comics readers, so I do know that somebody like Barry Allen would be really rarefied. Even I myself don’t read comics that much, well not as much as I did before in 2011-2012. I actually read more nonfiction than comics, so a real life Barry Allen would someone you’d have to know where to look.

Likewise, I could say similar things about Felicity Smoak where in all honesty most of the hackers I know and think of tend to be male. It sounds kind of sexist, but I don’t think you could easily find a Felicity Smoak the way you would with an Oliver Queen or even a Laurel Lance. Well, I’m biased since I’m interested in archery and I know celebrities who were drug addicts.

Or X-Men’s Kate Pryde for another matter, where in the comics she’s not only a hacker but also has a pet dragon. Somebody pointed out that she appeals a lot to a narrow audience, so much so that she is practically unrelatable to everybody else especially as time went on. It’s not that she can’t be smart and into ballet and martial arts, but that she’s (also) a ninja turned into a seafaring pirate.

Most people don’t read comics that often, most people don’t even have pet reptiles if dragons are reptiles anyways. In some regards, Kate is or has become the farthest from the real average person. If geek relatable is a character relatable to geeks, a normie relatable would be a character relatable to most people. Most people aren’t Goths, punks or vegans but most of them aren’t geeks either.

Normie relatable would be people with rather basic tastes in things and activities, they go for whatever that’s common and popular. Supposing if this is Nigeria, there are more people who are fans of football than those who’re into Arrow. They’re much likelier to know who Steven Gerrard, Colin Bell and Kevin Keegan are than they do with Felicity Smoak and Oliver Queen.

Even if not all Nigerians are walking football encyclopedias, but because football’s more popular than Arrow so it’s something many Nigerians would know on some level. Okay pet ownership rates vary between countries, but since most people own cats and dogs (even in Democratic Republic of Congo and Kenya) so a character like Kate Pryde would be this esoteric.

Especially if her tendency to have a pet dragon’s part and parcel of her as much as hacking, reading comic books and being a seafaring pirate are; she’s into things most people don’t commonly do, let alone as often as she does. She’s geek relatable while Cathy is normie relatable. Pardon if it sounds harsh, I’m saying most people don’t regularly read superhero comics.

They don’t regularly watch superhero programmes either, so they’re not characters most people will immediately relate to.

Character Intro: Aetna (Kingdom of Ichor)

Nicknames- Hothead by Zeus & Ares

Age- 22 (immortal)

Location- Forgia district, New Olympus

Personality- She's incredibly brilliant & a true techie-geek, hacker, and technophile! She can be very calm & level headed, but if a person pushes the wrong button, they might get burned! She's currently single.

As the goddess of volcanoes (and of Mt. Etna), she has incredibly powerful abilities- being on par with some of the most powerful dieties in the pantheon like Zeus, Demeter, or Gaia. Her other powers/abilities include terraportation (teleporting via dirt, mud, rock, stone, magma, lava, & other earthen substances), ash generation/manipulation, smoke generation/manipulation, soot generation/manipulation, pyrokinesis, lava generation/manipulation, magma generation/manipulation, thermal manipulation, plasma generation/manipulation, liquid fire generation/manipulation, eruption inducement, earthquake generation, hydrokinesis (as it pertains to geysers & hot springs), miasma emission (being able to emit toxic gases causing various effects), geothermal energy manipulation, radiation manipulation, & ferrokinesis (being able to manipulate various metals like titanium, platinum, copper, iron, and Celestial Bronze).

Aetna's former main location of operations was on Sicilios- a deserted landmass far out from Olympius. The remnants of the monstrous gigantic beast Typhon is buried under her namesake volcano.

To stay closer to her more well known & lucrative job, she currently lives in a penthouse in the Forgia neighborhood of New Olympus. Inside, everything is immaculate, up-to-date, & modern complete with the latest high tech appliances and security system. All the doors are made out of platinum & adamantine coated glass. Most functions in her place (like lowering curtains, opening/closing doors, or flushing the toilet) are controlled by a highly sophisticated touch pad. Aetna has a pet dragon- a girl named Ruby. Everyone remarks on her bright crimson scales!

Her favorite thing she likes to make for breakfast is a smoothie bowl- made with vegan Greek vanilla yogurt, frozen bananas, & frozen cauliflower. It's then topped with coconut flakes, bee pollen, and orange slices. She'll also enjoy a stack of lemon-sour cream pancakes drizzled in orange buttermilk syrup with scrambled eggs (added with hot peppers) & crispy bacon.

Her go-to drink is the tiger juice cocktail (a drink made with whiskey, orange juice, & lemon juice). She also likes bloody marys, apricot-mango smoothies, cherry cola, shirley temples, and the golden dream cocktail (a drink made with galliano, triple sec, orange juice, & heavy cream). Usuals from The Roasted Bean is an olympian sized iced tea & a large caramel latte (topped with extra whipped cream.

Aetna's main job is being a part of iCHOR Tech- the country's largest & most popular technology conglomerate! She plays an integral part and is even providing her voice for the latest virtual assistant (which is her namesake). She was more than flattered when Hephaestus & Techne came to her with the idea. Currently, Aetna has 10% ownership of the company. One of her best ideas was coming up with the gaming system (which became known as Talos Core). Her seperate businesses/endeavors include a school dedicated to computer sciences that is opening up in Lemnos, modeling for/endorsing Phaelam and Euryphaessa as well as being the host/executive producer of an earth science TV show called Kólasi!

She believes that quality is more important that quantity when friendships are involved. This is why her social group is so small. In the pantheon Aetna is friends with The Hyades (especially Coronis), Astraeus (Titan god of dusk), and Neféloma (goddess of space & dark matter) as well as her iCHOR Tech family- Hephaestus (god of the forge), Techne (goddess of arts, crafts, & invention), and the three blacksmithing cyclopes.

Her favorite sandwich is the ham & pineapple one (with extra mozzarella cheese) from The Bread Box.

Aetna is currently exchanging flirty messages with Adranos (god of fire).

Her favorite sweet treats include the orange creamsicle cocktail ice cream from Cocktails on Ice and the orange-olive oil glazed donuts from Hollyhock's Bakery. In the pantheon, Aetna is well known for her delicious cannolis!

Even though she doesn't need the extra income, Aetna also models for/endorses Swimsilk, Palms Paradise, & Hot Intoxication (her favorite product being the liquid eyeliner in "Angostura"- a neon orange color. Her favorite part was when Olmorfia released a limited edition lip paint inspired by Aetna. The shade was called "Lady of Liquid Lava."

Her favorite nail polish color from Olmorfia is "Talk Penny to Me"- a metallic copper color.

Some of her favorite dishes include coponata (a cooked salad made from chooped fried eggplant and celery seasoned with sweetened vinegar with capers- in a sweet & sour sauce), pasta alla norma (a pasta dish with tomatoes, fried eggplant, ricotta, and basil), luau stew (a thick & hearty stew made with taro leaves, sea salt, minced garlic, coconut milk, and pork chunks) with sticky white rice, & a ahi tuna and spicy salmon poke bowl (made with tuna, salmon, scallions, shelled edamame, toasted nori, fish roe, and furikake).

In her free time, Aetna LOVES to lava surf! She uses the surfboard that was gifted to her by Hephaestus (which is made out of Imperial Gold). She also enjoys riding on dragonback, playing video games, poker, rollerblading, working on her computers, reading, listening to music, going to the spa (is a fan of the mud baths & hot rock treatments), & shopping.

Dossiers: Weezy (Dean) And O66)

(I'm not including a picture here because I don't have one for him.)

Weezy, AKA: Weasel, AKA: DIY With Dean/Hack Of All Trades, AKA: Dean, is an online troll who has been active in the Younow Vegan community and in small commentary communities on Youtube. He is also married to Marissa (Not Another Housewife), and is (or at one time WAS) the leader of a troll gang known as Order66 (yes, feel free to roll your eyes; I think it's cringe as well), which I will henceforth be referring to as O66.

Dean and Marissa met when Dean's troll gang, infiltrated the Younow Vegan community she was part of, and she decided to send him DMs chewing him out for his behavior. They ended up hitting it off and iirc, she was ostracized by some in that community for dating him.

Legend has it I MEAN ACCORDING TO MARISSA, Dean was part of a beer club or something on the internet in the early 2010s, when someone (presumably someone from that community who didn't like him) started harassing his teenage daughter. In response to this, he grabbed a couple of buddies and they formed O66 to "go after creeps and weirdos (pedos) online and make them stop". Marissa has stated that O66 are also "the founders of doxxing" and that they at one point had someone so scared that they went into hiding in real life.

(Note: Doxxing originated in hacker communities in late 90's and the term started gaining mainstream recognition outside hacker culture during the Gamergate scandal in 2014. Based in everything I've seen, Dean didn't become involved with these activities before the early 2010s and I haven't seen a link between him and Gamergate.)

Besides starting a troll gang, Dean is probably most well known for the following:

His beef with a creator called Shoenice, which saw Dean alleging that SN admitted to him to grooming a minor. Dean supposedly faked an interview with SN's ex-wife to further perpetuate the allegation, but the alleged victim has changed her story to weather or not it happened.

A video he allegedly did in the Summer of 2020, which involved blackface.

A video he did alleging that Gabby Petito cheating on Brian Laundry was what got her killed.

Saying that he he hoped the child of someone he was beefing with didn't make it out of surgery.

He is also linked to a troll attack on Ben Shapiro.

Um auf Nummer sicher zu gehen, solltest du ausschließlich bekannte Buchungsseiten nutzen wie booking.com oder Expedia und rufe sie direkt im Browser auf.
