Uncle Sam had a green thumb? Digging into the history of victory gardens 🍅🌽🥕
Victory Gardens emerged during World War I as a way to ease the strain on the nation's food supply and foster solidarity among citizens.
Citizens were encouraged to grow their own fruits and vegetables to ensure a steady food supply for both the home front and the troops fighting overseas.
The movement continued during World War II, when the United States faced severe food shortages due to rationing and the need to support a growing military force.
Victory Gardens became a symbol of community, patriotism and self-sufficiency, and by 1944, an estimated 20 million gardens were cultivated across the nation.
The U.S. government heavily promoted the Victory Garden movement through various initiatives and campaigns. The Department of Agriculture's Extension Service provided guidance and resources, such as instructional pamphlets on gardening techniques, to help citizens establish and maintain their gardens and plots.
The government also created a range of promotional materials, including posters, films, and radio programs, to encourage citizens to participate in the effort.

up early and grumpy about it, but I started chopping cilantro and scallions and for whatever reason the crunch and sudden greenness of the smell singlehandedly convinced me that the world is worth living in. never had that experience at 6am dead sober before.

Another one (plus updated the previous one :)) part 2 of making me and my siblings into demon slayers now that my brother has finally watched the show! It’s my sister and me! With much better art and much better design than 4 years ago, hopefully
For my sister, I leaned pretty heavily into medicine, giving her a role more similar to that of Shinobu within the Corps: not primarily a fighter, and helping treat wounds sustained by other slayers in battle as a healer. My sister is, in the real world, a doctor, and I have massive respect for the amount of hard work she’s put into getting to where she is now. She’s such an inspiration honestly <3

Does... chocolate exist in wof?
Weird question I know but I'm curious. Since candy to some level exists in wof (refer back to book 11), but does chocolate exist... or are wof dragons like dogs and they'll die if they consume it.

From The Heart of Ohio
Cool old lunchbox. I really would have bought it if it was useable, but I couldn't clean it.
A musical lighter with Mount Fuji on it. It was in a case so we didn't get to hear what song it was
Bok choy
All the mortar and pestles in the world
And a hornets nest for 85 whole american dollars for some reason.

Is it confession time? I feel like it might be confession time…
I have this habit - I think many of us do - of only half glancing at usernames when I first come across them, and just making them into a word in my head. And then I say that word every time I see that username, therefore reinforcing my own believe. And eventually (though sometimes never) something makes me stop and actually read a username, letter for letter, and go oooooh.. 😯
I know NOW that @gardenerian is Gardener Ian. But I didn’t know that for the first three to five months of following Mel. And two weeks ago I went to Pizza Express and I realised where the word I was saying in my head every time I saw one of Mel’s posts actually came from…
I’m afraid to say that for a pretty long time there lovely Mel, you were a vegan pizza in my head… 🤷🏽♂️

While it doesn't directly correspond to a particular location, the ground in this card strongly resembles that of File City from Digimon World.

looking at the suvi arc 3 art like it's a riddle i need to solve.
her hair's been reverted to its (un)natural white. her outfit's all black and patterned head to toe in stars. man in black? pilgrim under the stars?
cards on the table show the king of diamonds on top and the ace of diamonds poking out the bottom. diamonds patterned into the desk and carpet. king... of night? diamonds... stars?
the only flashes of red (childhood colour) (ame colour) being the cards, the crystal ball on the shelf, and... the vial of blood? dripping from her hand?
oh i've got it! @quiddie
suvi's making a blood pact with the man in black. the title of the campaign is changing to the warlock, the witch, and the wild one.
...joking
............. (i think)
