summer theoretically has known cinder for longer than she knew her daughters. this haunts me. like it’s the evil step sisters yk, ruby maims cinder and she’s expected to turn the other cheek, because…that’s summer’s daughter, never mind that summer chose to leave her kids behind. what kind of relationship does cinder have with summer rose. “you should have never been born.” how does it feel knowing that ruby’s life is worth more than hers to summer?

and.

for all the fandom talks about how cinder imitates salem's style, she does not actually dress very much like salem—there's a perceptible influence yes, but the palette is different (bright red or very dark warm brown + gold trim), the fit is different (looser!), and she keeps getting more asymmetrical. but guess what!

cinder's wardrobe is the middle of a venn diagram between salem and summer rose. (look at outfit concept B and tell me it isn't a mashup of cinder's beacon/atlas fits.)

it's the love child of a sword and a battle axe.

(that is not a metaphor this is a type of sword which evolved from crescent-shaped battle axes like the epsilon.)

she pulls this thing over and over during the fight with raven—and that's... kind of the only time that happens. (her standards are midnight/the scimitar, and something i think is meant to be a kopis). but lol. when she has to fight summer's old teammate, she goes for the closest thing you can get to an axe while still being a sword.

so like. it's not like she somehow doesn't know summer. mimicry of others she perceives as powerful is an extremely pronounced trait of hers and there's enough little details similar between cinder's fits and summer's final design that fit into the gap between cinder and salem to feel On Purpose even without taking into account how much concept B just straight up looks like cinder-in-ruby's-palette.

(and as cinder would see it, summer does have some degree of power over salem—it's on her behalf that salem goes out of her way to avoid killing ruby and yang—so obv cinder is taking notes.)

but it's fucking wild in the context of cinder's very very personal hatred of ruby like. and you should have never been born.

The Amy Dallon/Cassie Animorphs Venn Diagram

Because my time is NOT valuable, and I am very easily persuaded to waste it. (Context here)

Starting easy: a major part of their sense of identity revolves around healer jobs. Cassie assists her parents informally in caring for injured animals; Amy is an honorary doctor. Cassie has significantly less responsibility and is significantly more fulfilled by what she does, but she and Amy both take their jobs quite seriously.

This part of their sense of self clashes horribly with the kind of violence that later becomes expected of them.

They both hold to a strict moral code: at the moments of climax when that code is forced to break, so do they. Cassie in book 9 with the termites and then later eating the baby seal in the arctic; Amy killing for the first time when Bonesaw forces her to and then the confrontation with Victoria. Points of no return, points where you crumble as you realize you were never the person you hoped and prayed to be: the proof is in your actions, and the proof is damning. Doesn’t the fact that you were even capable of these acts speak for itself?

Here’s an even more interesting one: Cassie in the David trilogy and Amy in the s9 arc. Taking all your compassion, all that carefully cultivated empathy, that whole bleeding heart, and channeling it into an act of physical and psychological torture. Cassie masterminds the plan to turn David into a rat. Amy turns Victoria into… well. Worse than a rat, to be sure. And what happens after they convince themselves it was worth it, that it was all they could do, that they had to do it? They break down and cry.

Both loners/standouts within a larger group; subsequent “if it sucks, hit da bricks” mentality. (Cassie quitting the animorphs in book 19 / Amy packing up and leaving her family + the wards in 11h.)

Writing that out, I just realized that they both had significant moral breakdowns directly following their attempts to leave everything behind. Funny, that!

There’s a whole Animorphs book centered around Cassie doing brain surgery. Ok this one’s just a really fun coincidence but c’mon

Both hated and beloathed in-story largely for traitorism/hypocrisy allegations born out of desperate attempts to follow their Code in situations that make it extremely difficult

Both intimately familiar with having “some kind of alien parasite” in their brain

Both proof that you can turn any sweet girl into an instrument of violence with enough nudging. She’ll fight you along the way, but she’ll submit, and she’ll transform, and really it doesn’t matter how much she hates herself along the way.

Baldur's Gate 3 Companions according to my friend who hasn't played the game

I asked @ultharkitty to tell me what she knew and thought about each of the BG3 companions, based solely on what I have told her and images (which she was Googling before I could find them for her).

Obviously I have told her more about some characters than others ;D Order determined by who she remembered, then prompts from me, but saving Astarion for last as I have told her the most about him.

Contains some spoilers for Act 1.

The Hot Lady with the Horns (AKA Karlach)

My first choice for romancing, because she liked you when you were heroic and she was very straightforward about what she wanted. Excellent Outfit. She’s got an infernal engine as a heart, or possibly her lungs! Her outfit is made of belts! 12/10 for good LARP kit. Beware the ears, she’ll poke your eye out – oh, she has a tail! She does look like she could crush a man’s head between her thighs.

Is one of them called Gale? (AKA Gale)

I remember him – he’s a dick*. He looks like a douche canoe – I do not like his mullet. 8/10 for LARP – outfit is suitably LARPy. He does have a cool robe with a belt on. I don’t know – I don’t dig this guy. I remember he’s romanceable, but I don’t know why you’d want to. Oooh, I found a photo of him without any clothes on! Eh - he’s too buff. Someone needs to give him a sandwich and a glass of water. He’s the wizard! Yeah, I have no opinions about him.

*Please don't hate me Gale fans - this did not come from me! I nearly romanced him!

The dog! (AKA Scratch)

The dog! Is really important. Because you can play ball with the dog and pet the dog. And the dog’s owner fucking died. Dead on the floor. The dog is cute and has a very hopeful face. The fact that you can pet the dog is a big bonus for the game.

Owlbear Cub

10/10. No notes. Except the fact that it lost its mum – like OMG, that’s sad. I like that it grows up to be big.

Wyll

He seemed cool. He seemed nice. Ooh does he have wings? [I explained that no, not so far anyway.] 10/10 for LARP – outfit is very very nice. [I don't know which outfit she saw him in.] He looks like the kind of person who could mind your chocolate and he wouldn’t eat it. He looks like the owl bear cub and the dog would be safe with them. He’s got a scar on his face and I bet he got it defending kittens! Oooh, is he the guy wanted the necromancy book [I explained that no, that was Gale, and Wyll wanted us to destroy it.] Now that I know that I’m mildly disappointed in him, and a little less disappointed in Gale.

Lae'zel

Oh, her! Oh yeah! She seems cool. Another one whose ears would poke your eye out. Armour has paladin vibes. 6/10 on LARP – too shiny. Pure of heart and stabby of blade. She should hook up with the first chick and they should have fun, and romance and be gal pals. Her underwear is structurally impressive – I think I’ve seen stuff like that in sex shops! Kind of like a bra-harness, a braness, if you will. She also needs to hydrate – everybody needs to hydrate.

Shadowheart

She looks like chief judge Hershey. For the black hair. 7/10 for LARP – pretty cool, pretty LARPy. It’s got that cool, multilayered skirt over leggings, that you could hide a million pockets in – that’s very cool. Name suggests she understood the assignment at character gen.

Astarion

He wrote on his underpants, which to me is a bit of a red flag. What I know about him is he was bitten by a vampire but isn’t a full vampire yet, because he can apparently go out in the sun. He has aesthetically pleasing, romantic era white hair, and he has some kind of parasite in his brain, but it doesn’t stop him being hot. He’s easily impressed by things that you shouldn’t be easily impressed by. Like he’s impressed when you intimidate people. (The venn diagram between things I would enjoy in fiction and people I would like in real life only mildly intersects.) He’s like a walking warning sign. He wanted the necromancy book and I think we should give it to him. He’s clearly got issues. Likes taking his shirt off. He just kind of looks a little bit lost. Like 90% angst, ten percent hairstyle. The fangs get a thumbs up. He looks hotter in his fanart. 9/10 for LARP – I do enjoy his outfit when dressed, but he doesn’t seem to keep it on very much from what I’ve seen [In Astarion's defence, I sent Ultharkitty many screenshots from the sex scene.] He has scars on his back! Which gives him a plus 12 angst modifier, which is useful in combat scenes somehow. I’m getting very strong disaster vibes from this individual. Looking at all the pictures of him on Google image search – hurr hurr I found one in his pants – he’s Jaskier level slutty.

I mean, she is not wrong about Astarion.

Overall, despite some confusion between Gale and Wyll, I don't think this is a million miles off...

Woah, I've worked on things!

Neon Parasite (I did the music for this way back in my first couple years of college and it kinda sucks but also kinda owns. It was a wonderful experience and Louis was a great guy to work with. The game is small and simple but it's also cheap! Fun time to mess around with your friends in)

Janestuck (Does anyone remember this?? I did music for this back in highschool and it REALLY sucks but also like, luminantAegis worked on it and the owner of the Homestuck reddit said one of my tracks on it was awesome and that really stuck with me. I have no idea if anyone from this project has gotten cancelled in the last seven years but I thought I'd mention it to be inclusive.)

Sonic Holograph (I started helping a friend of mine make a Sonic/Hololive crossover back in like, 2021 when that would've been seen as kind of weird and niche, so now every time SEGA and COVER collab we look at eachother and make Regular Show-ass faces. The amount of artwork Juddy has put out for this is honestly spectacular and I'm so proud of what we've been able to make. It's like a funky fanfic/hypothetic game design document thing, I think you'd get a kick out of it even if you only fall into one circle on this venn diagram of interests.)

Sonic: What If? (I do a mix of writing, music and tons of behind the scenes stuff helping The Sega Scourge out with his YT series and if you like Sonic the Hedgehog stories PLEASE check him out, there's so many cool stories in the works and the effort he and the supporting artists/voice actors put in is something special.)

ALTERFALL (Part of the reason I'm making this Tumblr is the same reason I cracked and made a Twitter a longass time ago: To interact with people who wanna know shit about this AU. I'll probably make a more detailed post about what I actually do for ALTERFALL since Hydro gets a lot of solo project allegations, but tl;dr Homestuck AU. You like Kidswaps? Bloodswaps? Go. Feast. Mostly art rn but there's a lot of story stuff under the hood to come once all the characters have been shown off.)

So, I thought about doing another list of short character summaries for different Bloodlines, like I did with clans, but first of all, there are far more Bloodlines, so it wouldn't just be a single post, and second, the first one that came to mind were the Blood Brothers, which I think are both horrifying and neat. The difficulty with this Bloodline comes from them essentially being 1 mind in 2 bodies, but also not... what I find interesting is how simplicity is the last word to describe it. They're like a Venn diagram of that and a hive mind, with a splash of body horror for good measure.

The other problem is that when I settled on a theme for a pair, it got dark... really dark. I also got way too into it and wrote way more than a character profile, and instead made a sort of short story about a symbiotic relationship between twins in a mutually abusive relationship. One being an aggressive abuser, and the other a parasitic abuser. This fucked up dynamic, is what made them ideal for the Nlood Brother ritual, and made that whole situation much worse, by heightening their psychopathic tendencies. It was one of the darkest things I drafted, but I may actually expand on it.

OC time! Venn!

First parasite OC! I hold him very close to my heart

Design notes:

His host is quite short and small

He lost one of his parasite limbs due to a rather traumatizing experience

Character notes:

He feeds on love and affection

Because of people knowing about soul eating parasites, Venn couldn't properly feed himself for a rather long time

After many years of barely surviving, he was found by Fresh who decided to help

After that Venn started to live with Fresh and Comic

He doesn't need to change his host

During winter he gets rather tired and requires more love and affection

Currently He's dating Fresh and Comic, he also Has a kid with Fresh named Bubble

His birthday is on 3rd of October

real talk though we have to address how terfs think they can interject themselves into ex christian and religious trauma spaces online and offline while literally carrying a cornerstone of the bigotry that comes with christianity and colonialism: transphobia. its plain as day that the venn diagram of terfs conservatives and transphobes is a definite circle but the christian entitlement that comes with thinking they are the sole victims of christian trauma, that queer people can’t possible be traumatized by a religion they have no problem utilizing if it means they can take away the rights of trans people. that these people think they can be buddy buddy with exchristians/exvangelicals in order to indoctrinate them into believing gender essentialist, sexist and transphobic ideology because we’re already angry at christianity so they think they can easily utilize trauma and anger to turn it against trans people. its insidious and disgusting that they recruit precisely the way evangelicals do while thinking they’re any different.

but they forgot to consider that: many of us are queer. many of us are trans. we want nothing to do with you or your ideology which is literally identical to christian bigotry and essentialism, we don’t want to join you because we recognize what it is: an ideology that wants to eliminate queer people. sound familiar? that’s because it is. they inherited it from christianity
