me, an hour ago: "fuck, the stove is on! what do we do?" [immediately does all the wrong things]
PSA: What NOT to do when you smell gas
In this situation, we got home to a smell of gas throughout the house and discovered our gas stove was on without a flame. it was only a tiny stream, and everything turned out fine, but here's a brief list of everything we did wrong:
NOTE: this is for if you smell significant amounts of gas, not a blanket list for all possible gas situations. (If you aren't aware, the methane**/natural gas used in houses smells vaguely like sulfer, or rotten eggs - this is an additive, since it has no natural smell. It's a very recognizable smell, once you've smelled it once. It's not the same smell as gasoline.)
1. If your stove has an electrical/spark ignition, do NOT turn it off.
Spark ignitions often spark when turning on *and* off. Spark + Gas = Boom. Boom is bad. Avoid boom.
Instead, turn off the gas at the source, i.e. the physical valve at the meter. There may be a smaller valve near the stove. If you don't know where the shutoff is, the fire department will find it.
2. Do NOT turn on (or off) vents or fans.
In fact, don't flip any electrical switches - that includes lights, plugging in or unplugging appliances, etc. These cause sparks. Spark + Gas = Boom.
Also, don't start your car. obviously.
3. Do NOT open windows
counterintuitive, I know. This is mostly because you want to prioritize your exit, but it's also to keep the fumes from spreading outside, where you should be waiting for the ~professionals~ to come handle it.
4. DO take all people and pets outside.
Do this very first!! (one thing we actually did right - go us!)
This is obviously because you don't want to go boom, but you also don't want to suffocate. Gas is poison!
NOTE: the gas from your stove is probably methane (natural gas); carbon monoxide is what you get when methane burns, which is why your kitchen needs to be well-ventilated and the stove shouldn't be left burning for long periods of time, but the natural gas itself is *also* potentially deadly. Carbon monoxide detectors dont detect natural gas, so that's what the odorous additive is for.
Inhaling natural gas causes nausea, headaches, dizziness, and makes you just generally woozy, and eventually causes you to lose consciousness and potentially suffocate, just like carbon monoxide does. We don't want that.
5. DO call the fire department/emergency line
They'll check for other leaks, shut gas off if needed, then test for air quality and eventually clear your house for reentry. It takes like 1-2 hours for the gas to dissipate, generally.
Yay, you survived! Congrats!!
NOTE: if you find the stove has been left on with a flame, or it's on with no flame but you don't smell gas, then you should be safe to just open windows and turn on vents and fans to air it out.
idk, this was actually pretty scary, especially when we realized how much of our immediate response was wrong and could have turned a dangerous situation into a real disaster.
tl;dr: If you smell gas when you shouldn't be smelling gas, just get all the people and animals outside, shut off the gas line, and call the fire department or gas company. don't fuck around with gas. you're not overreacting, you're taking the proper safety measures.
**CORRECTED FROM ORIGINAL VERSION. Original said propane, but it's very much not propane, it's methane. too much Hank Hill on the brain, clearly.

Lesson Learned
There is so much on the Mustang forums here in the UK about prices of parts for our beloved Mustangs. It’s a well known fact that the cost of living has gone insane amounts, partly due to the Covid pandemic over the last couple of years. There have been shortages of materials, that then means shortage of parts which ultimately leads to supply and demand shortages. Fact: costs of freight have…

Walking iterator design! Inspired by @capricoopla 's mobile iterators! I went for more of a mix between a few different things- namely nosk from Hollow Knight! It was supposed to look like a massive spider but it kinda looks like a fucked up giraffe weevil.
(more in depth design nerd stuff under the cut)
The body being built more akin to a spider allows for the neurons the iterators need to be stored somewhere safe and protected- the abdomen! Aka their massive spider booty. It can hold a TON of neurons- albeit very very cramped with minimal space for the neurons to move. This DOES affect the iterators- making them experience mood swings, constant spaghetti string thoughts™, and memory jumbling, but it allows for them to stay properly sapient and allows them to keep their memories and processing power.
The thorax (the part the head is connected to) is the main powering system. Inside isa leftover refraction cell- being inputted into a much smaller scale heart. The section it's hooked up to regulates the "voltage" being put out- that way the entire thing doesn't explode from an overload. The refraction cell is how the entire body is able to move in the first place!
The body is very heavy and sturdy, being able to withstand the rain if needed.its also covered in vents from its ventilation, as well as some addition steam valves to let trapped vapor from its coolant systems out.

hai‼️it's something new for me to write my first little fanfic in English and.. nsfw?? but my curiosity was stronger than my worries, so here it is.
[ warnings: no one ]
[ valveplug, valve fingering, desperation, crying, Starscream being pathetic again, need, not a very detailed interface but gentle, gender neutral reader, dom reader, sub Starscream, human reader, kinda touch-starved??]
━━━━━━━━━━ × ━━━━━━━━━━
His body was cold to touch, his sharp ventilating was hitting your own soft human skin as if wanting to do small cuts covered with your pathetic blood just to see you suffer. Starscream has already told you more than once how pathetic and disgusting you are for a human. He was telling you that he hates you. But still, for some reason this bastard is moaning and squirming under your warm fingers now, screaming your own name and begging to do more because of his unbelievable hunger. Such a poor touch-starved bird.
Starscream whines loudly into pillow when you touch him right there with your damn fingers, that were already covered in his… pink transfluids? Oh Lord, you’ll joke about that after some time when he’ll forget about this situation between you and him, but not now. He’s too desperate for your love and you know that, praising him softly in his audio-sensors and making him look at you with those puppy eyes, really wanting to hear those words again and again with all his spark while you fragging him with your precious fingers. He’ll moan for you louder; he’ll cry for you and he’ll do anything for you… only if you continue to show your love and admiration. Only if you continue love him.
Anyone would use him for that pathetic trait, and the seeker is still shocked to see you with him, to see how your eyes look at him even now when he is a real wet mess. You do love him. You love him even if he treated you badly. You love him just for nothing and that’s confusing him. And that makes him sob quietly, still shuddering when you gently move your fingers inside of his valve.
“Is everything okay?” and again that question. His optics are watering and that’s your damn fault! Starscream tried to nod with quiet whine, but your sudden caress of his thigh makes him shudder and cry out with already broken vocalizer. He just overloaded because of your question? Or because it was too much for him and he would cum only because of realization that you care? Oh dear. You see him hardly ventilating, grasping the bedsheets under him with those trembling long thick claws. His valve was clutching around your fingers, not wanting to let go. Starscream in some sort of breakdown right now, he is overwhelmed with your actions and words. With your love.
“My star…” you carefully pulled out your fingers, wiping them from sticky fluids and moving closer to him. Your words made his wings flutter weakly, and now he is calling your name softly, desperately trying to find you through his own thoughts and fears. Starscream needs you, he always needed you. “It seems like everything was stronger for you this time?”
He still doesn't answer you for several minutes, shuddering weakly when you lie down next to him and gently embrace him. Oh Starscream needed that so badly right now, pulling you closer to him and tightening his grip on you. You can feel how damn painfully it is when he holds you with his claws as if wanting to merge you with his own body. You can feel the heat is coming from his systems, how his engines are purring quietly. It was painful to be with him but you can't do anything about this. Your deep scars or bruises on your skin was sign of Starscream's deep love for you.
“I guess… it was, human.”
oh he loves you so much.

CPR in hospitals
I did a post on doing cpr as a 'civilian' (i.e. in public with no equipment). But most people who follow me are writers! So here's how it goes down in hospital.
It varies on where someone is in hospital having a cardiac arrest, so this is just for if a patient is in a hospital bed with monitoring on.
The first sign is going to the monitor going crazy and the patient unconscious.
Step 1 - pull the emergency button and start chest compressions (they are still the most important thing!)
Step 2 - someone else will give rescue 'breaths' using an oxygen mask and bag (technically called a bag valve mask or BVM). Two breaths after every 30 compressions
Step 3 - someone else is cutting clothes off and putting defibrillator pads on. An anaesthetist may also intubate the patient and put them on a ventilator (this means you can do compressions continuously)
Step 4 - the defibrillator will scan the heart rhythm. If it's shockable (ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation) then everyone steps away while it shocks. As soon as it's safe, CPR continues (most defibrillators determine the rhythm and calculate voltage automatically)
Step 5 - if it's a non-shockable rhythm, give IV adrenaline ASAP
Step 6 - if it's a shockable rhythm, wait 2 minutes after first shock, check and shock again. Repeat a third time.
Step 7 - if the patient is still in cardiac arrest after 3 shocks, give IV adrenaline and amiodarone
Step 8 - continue CPR and give adrenaline every 5 minutes.
The person giving compressions should switch every 60 compressions (two cycles of 30) - the next person is counted in so there's no time without compressions
There are 10 main causes of cardiac arrest - while all of this is happening a team of doctors will be trying to work out the cause so they can treat it. I won't go into the causes because it's boring and technical.
CPR, defibrillation, and drugs will continue until the cardiac arrest stops or the patient is declared deceased.
If someone is in hospital because of hypothermia, remember! They're not dead until they're warm! (there have been cases of hypothermia patients being successfully resuscitated after over 5 hours of CPR!)

Starscream x Skyfire
NSFW, Size Difference
I recently came across this absolutely amazing animation by @fuccerito and I just had to write something for it!! Please enjoy Starscream being shown a very good time by his much larger lover and check out their amazing art when you're done <3
Skyfire always managed to be both lovingly gentle and completely in control every time they interfaced, and for all of his expansive intellect, Starscream had yet to figure out how this perfect balance was accomplished. In his defense, his only opportunity to study the phenomenon happened to be at a time when he was usually incapable of complex thought. Now was a perfect example of the processor deadening effects of Skyfire's spike, but as always, he didn't have the capacity to recognize it. There were far more engrossing things to focus on as the larger mech held him aloft over his exposed lap.
Already quite heated and eager for the massive spike below, the Seeker could only whimper in need as Skyfire maneuvered him into position, lining up his sopping valve over the throbbing tip of his length. Starscream let out a much needier sound as the heat pressed against his entrance, and he tried in vain to push his hips downwards to get it inside. The action made his lover chuckle affectionately, and he brought their helms together for a tender nuzzle before  bringing their lips together. A soft whine into his mouth compelled him to give the smaller mech what he wanted.
With only one arm needed to hold his delicate frame aloft, Starscream was lowered swiftly but smoothly onto the eager spike below, and he gladly spread his legs around Skyfire's chest to accommodate the stretch. Despite having taken it countless times before, he still let out a high pitched keen at the penetration, helm rolling back and optics squeezing shut as he felt the broad girth filling him up. There wasn't an ounce of resistance from his slick and eager valve as he took the girth with experienced ease. Rather, he clamped down on his mate the moment he felt him hit his maximum depth, wanting to feel that glorious fullness forever in his lusty haze.
Skyfire chuckled again, then secured his grip behind the smaller mech's back and got to work.
As always, he was careful in the beginning, using his greater strength to effortlessly slide Starscream a short distance up and down his length in a series of cautious, restrained thrusts. Each was met with a delightful, gasp of pleasure and not a trace of resistance, which told him he was in the clear to turn things up. Bracing his other arm against the floor, Skyfire gave no warning before he started to pound, sliding Starscream up and down his spike without a trace of effort. It was just the way they liked it most.
Red optics went wide and stars burst before them. Moaning without restraint, Starscream ventilated hard and fast as the massive spike slid in and out of him at breakneck speeds, their hips loudly clanking together every time he was dropped back down to engulf the spike below. Were his arms free he'd have grabbed a hold of his lover for stability, but with them pinned he merely leaned into Skyfire and quivered from helm to pede, wings fluttering without his knowledge as euphoria made him steadily lose control. Colors continued to swirl in his vision each time he was thrust downwards, his frame so weightless in Skyfire's massive hand he was practically being used as a toy.
Skyfire couldn't pretend to be completely in control as his overload started to build, the tight, wet heat of his mate's arousal bringing him to the start of a swift conclusion. Ventilations growing haggard and desperate, he paid close attention to the way his lover increased his volume, going from gasps of delight to cries of desperate ecstasy as he closed in on his own overload. The already tight valve around him began to pulse and flutter, forcing the larger mech to fight against the urge to blow his load then and there. Never once had he finished before his tiny lover...
Ever unknowingly merciful, Starscream didn't make him wait very long for release. Shaking so hard he rattled his armor, the Seeker flushed hot pink as the wave of release crashed into him without warning. Lube flowed down into Skyfire's lap as his valve spasmed in white hot ecstasy, milking the spike inside of him for everything it had and filling his frame with a dizzying rush of euphoria like no other. Skyfire allowed himself to truly let go once his lover started to come undone.
Tightening his grip, he pushed Starscream all the way down, fully sheathing his spike just as his own overload finally claimed him. Moaning into the smaller mech's audial, he came in ropes of transfluid so thick and hot his lover felt them squirting inside of him, the excess gushing out between them as Skyfire lightly bounced his hips. At the peak of his own ecstasy, Starscream was reduced to pitiful, breathless sounds of helpless delight as he took every last bit of his lover's load. Skyfire dropped his gaze to admire how much of a mess he'd made of the high class scientist.
Wings pinned down and twitching at the overwhelming pleasure tingling through him like an electrical storm, the tiny Seeker was reduced to a whimpering mess by the time the release inside of him slowed, his valve so stuffed it overflowed all over the berth below. Tilting his gaze upwards, Starscream went from helpless gaping to a dazed smirk of satisfaction as their optics met, and he allowed himself to go limp in the other's grasp. The heat of ecstasy cooled into the comfortable warmth of the afterglow.
Skyfire let out a deep vent as he too shifted into the bliss of gratification, so completely content he could have fallen into recharge on the spot. Keeping his lover supported effortlessly, he smiled as Starscream began to purr against him, compelling him to nuzzle their helms together with a returning sound of affection. The smaller seeker made no effort to move as the spike inside of him softened and retracted, allowing Skyfire more time to sit and enjoy the moment. It was obvious they'd both need a shower after this, but with the two of them so tired yet comfortable, neither was in a rush to get that started. For now, they were quite content to rest together in the privacy of their bedroom. The whole world could wait forever for all they cared...

So the knight sits in the throne to drive the mechs, but where do the enginesmith and the rest of the crew sit in the mechs?
Tumblr media
this is a typical battle configuration. for transport to the site of the battle, additional crews ride on top or wherever it's safe, and dismount to set up camp and provide ground support when they reach their destination
i've drawn the chambers really big just for illustrative purposes. there's a platform usually on the head/behind the helm area for lookouts, navigators, and signallers (they use flag signals to communicate with the ground/other beasts)
the throne chamber is the most heavily armoured with an open front protected by a grille of bars. knights go in there. this is the safest place to be when being attacked from above (rip to the navigators). because knights' helms have no eye holes, field of view is not important.
in the chest there's the heart chamber and its great vessels. usually 3 great vessels. this is really cramped and really deep inside the body so it carries a really high risk of suffocation. one enginesmith, usually the senior, essentially 'plays' the heart engine's cylinder block like a piano to regulate it. iirc pantera has something like 112 pistons total, though not all in the heart. the purpose of the heart is to deliver fuel from the furnace to the limbs/neck/weapons systems/whatever currently requires it. the second enginesmith manages the valves which govern where the fuel goes.
in the belly furnace there's space for a very large crew, these guys have to manually inject fuel from the tank (in the pelvic girdle) into the furnaces at the correct rate to keep it the right temperature. they have tons of ventilation to ensure the fires are always going, but it's, again, very dangerous. the fuel can eat through flesh when it's at this temperature and even a small splash can very quickly become fatal. because of the boiling temperatures, there's no ppe. they work shirtless and have to rely on skill and experience to stay safe.
each area has a communications panel which uses a pull cord system or a message tube system (rarer). the cords are painted alternating bands of colours so that it is visually obvious when someone on the other end of the cord pulls it down a notch. it's simple but it works.
the knight's dialogue with the beast allows them to experience the movement of the cords as an extension of their own body, because the cords go through the spine. so any communication between the different chambers is known to the knight.

Mia in ICU
Tumblr media
"Has she been drugged? Well, you did the right thing. You need to immediately connect her to an artificial apparatus. So, Mia, it looks like this is the end of your story.”
Tumblr media
Doctors put her on a ventilator to ensure adequate oxygen supply to her brain and other vital organs. Resuscitation procedures were performed in time, but the patient fell into a coma. Doctors monitored her vital signs and supported her body functions with the help of medical equipment.
Tumblr media
Dr. Cohen certainly enjoys his work. She realizes that a girl who knows so many secrets can be a risk. The stories that the girl publishes on the site, although they remain unpopular, contain information that can be dangerous. Dr. Cohen knows the importance of maintaining confidentiality, which is why she is keeping a close eye on the situation to prevent any potential disclosure.
Tumblr media
Mia, who is in a coma, remains in stable condition but is still dependent on artificial ventilation. The woman, intubated and catheterized, is in a state of complete dependence on medical devices.
Tumblr media
Mia woke up, but her body still wouldn't obey her. She lay still, able only to listen to the sounds that surrounded her. The noise of medical equipment, footsteps of staff, quiet conversations – all this came to her like an echo from another world. The valve on the ventilator connecting the hose to the tube in her throat was the only physical sensation she could recognize. She knew she wasn't breathing on her own – the machine was doing it for her, keeping her alive while her own body remained powerless.
"It's scary to be so helpless, dependent on a machine for every breath. It's like I'm in a dream where I want to scream but can't say a word. I can hear everything around me, but I can't answer. I feel my consciousness floating in the dark, waiting for the moment when I can regain control of my body.”
Tumblr media
Her consciousness was like an island in a great, dark ocean of the unknown. She could not speak, could not move, but she could think and feel. Mia faced the harsh reality of her condition. She was aware that if the life support systems were turned off, her life could be in danger.
Dr. Cohen faces a difficult choice. She knows Mia is no longer a threat, but the decision to turn off life support cannot be taken lightly. Doctor took a deep breath and walked over to Mia's bed. She looked at the monitors showing the woman's vital signs and said quietly: “Mia, we are at a crossroads. You were strong and you proved you could fight. But now that you're no longer a threat, we must decide what to do next. I want you to know that every decision I make is an attempt to do what is best for us.”
After such a decision, Dr. Cohen may feel a mixture of emotions — from relief to hesitation about the ethics of his actions. She carefully turned off Mia's life support machine and waited, watching the monitors showing her vital signs…

Morning Glow
For Trafalgar Water D Law, there was perhaps a view that he could get used to. The Polar Tang was calmly making its way through the sea. Close to the surface, just like every morning, so that they could exchange the stale oxygen from the night for a fresh sea breeze via the valves on the main mast. Even though they had an excellent ventilation system that filtered the air in a way that it wasn't actually necessary up to 96 hours, Law still insisted on it.
On one hand, it reduced the spread of diseases via ventilation and at the same time, it improved the crew's morale to see the sparse daylight shimmering in the ocean outside their windows.
Law would never admit it, of course, but even for him it was the perfect way to start the day, sitting alone in his cabin with his coffee cup and watching the sea shimmer and glisten.
And now that a certain swordsman was sharing the bunk with him while traveling from Zhou to Wano, maybe the whole spectacle had taken on a rather picture perfect touch.
Sipping the hot caffeinated brew, Law watched the reflections of the sea dance over marbled muscles. Small shadows were cast and continued to flit across the sea-tanned skin.
He leaned back silently on the couch, savoring the caffeine and the sight of the sleeping strawhat pirate in his bed. Stripped down to his bare skin and breathtakingly hot, piratehunter Roronoa Zoro laid across the mattress on his stomach, his arms crossed over his head, one hand buried in his soft hair and hummed under his breath.
A sign of trust.
Law had learned that the piratehunter only hummed like this when he was truly asleep. And heaven knows he really rarely did, which explained his need for constant naps.
In fact, Law had only known two situations so far.
One: Mugiwara-ya ordered his swordsman to do it.
The first time he had witnessed it was during their journey on Bartholomeo's fucked-up Fanboyship. Mugiwara-ya, usually so high-spirited and always in motion that Law had inwardly labeled him with the diagnosis ADHD, had calmly settled down next to the swordsman and ordered him to rest. The swordsman had snarled in disapproval but made absolutely no effort to resist when his captain had placed his head in his lap.
Law had watched the two of them for about an hour. Mugiwara-ya stayed abnormally quiet and serious on guard, while his swordsman allowed himself to let his guard down and actually sleep.
And two: for a couple of days now, Law could occasionally hear the exact same humming in his bed in the morning while he enjoyed his first cup of coffee of the day.
The first time, the usually vigilant piratehunter had been startled out of his sleep and, heavens, he'd been annoyed. Law had been flattered when he'd revealed that it was usually only around Mugiwara-ya that he was able to trust that someone was keeping track of things while he switched himself off for good.
The mystery that Zoro was now allowing himself this moment of vulnerability around the opposing pirate, passing that responsibility with the fresh smell of coffee for a while, remained a secret between the two of them.
It was perfectly fine with Law. As a captain it was his responsibility to protect the people on his ship anyway.
Besides, it gave him the chance to enjoy this picturesque view.
Of course Law would never tell anyone about this, but Zoro was an extraordinary specimen of the human race. His body was perfect and like something straight out of a medical textbook. Defined and an anatomical blueprint. Every single muscle was well-defined and trained. There was not an ounce of too much fat, allowing the muscles to stand out fine and marbled beneath his skin. When he flexed them, one could literally see them at work.
Fine veins were visible on the skin, making it easier for any doctor to insert injections. The skin was flawless, despite the many large and small but faded scars.
The swordsman's low hum was music to Law's ears. He still wondered how a man could have such an incredibly attractive voice.
The allied pirate fascinated him in more ways than one. The doctor in him loved his anatomy and was dying to dissect him down to the last fiber to figure out how the man had survived injuries that would kill any ordinary human. Ever since Chopper had handed him Zoro's medical file because of the short-term separation, his fingers had been tingling. The little quite adorable elk had warned him specifically about the swordsman as a patient. Although he never really got sick, he was constantly suffering from life-threatening injuries and had no sense when it came to his recovery.
Law hadn't been able to resist using his Room to sneak a closer examination of the documented traumas while Zoro was in a deep slumber. There was hardly a bone in his body without traces of old fractures and many of his organs had scar tissue from internal injuries.
Nevertheless, he was still a perfectly healthy man.
His ability to heal had to be extraordinary. However, Law already experienced that his sense of physical pain was almost non-existent. Which was absolutely incomprehensible when one considered just how ticklish and sensitive the swordsman reacted to being touched.
But apart from the fact that he was a medical wonder whose secret he would love to find out, Law was also fascinated by the man.
Piratehunter Roronoa Zoro was not some emotionless demon, contrary to the myths about him. A predator, no doubt. But one that was quite docile when not provoked.
The swordsman was somehow intelligent, cunning and stupid at the same time. On the surface he gave the impression of four functioning brain cells: Breathing, sleeping, drinking and eating, training and fighting.
Maybe even sex, judging by how needy the pirate could be.
However, on a closer analysis, he was so much more than that.
He was truly masterful at trusting his instincts. And so far, Law had never once experienced them cheating on him. Except maybe when it came to his sense of direction. Which was absolutely catastrophic.
Law chuckled softly into his coffee at the thought of how sensitive the swordsman was about his weakness. But who in the name of the devil got lost on a straight path? And how on earth was it possible not to tease him about that?
The swordsman growled softly, as if he knew exactly what Law was thinking about. The smile on the doctor's lips spread a little wider. Zoro had probably rested enough and would wake up soon. Returned to his vigilance.
And Zoro truly did always keep a watchful eye on the people around him, apparently feeling somehow responsible for their protection. He was just gentler than people gave him credit for.
"Your fucking eyes might just pop out when you keep staring at my backside like that!"
The swordsman's low sleepy growl filled the room, although it was barely more than a whisper. Zoro didn't even start to move, he wasn't really fully awake yet.
"Hmm..." Law grinned into his coffee. "Just admired that bite mark on your ass cheek."
Zoro laughed quietly and clicked his tongue. "Guess the little fucker just wasn't able to control himself last night!"
"Seems like it!" Law admitted and drained his cup. He watched as the swordsman stretched and finally rose. Still sleepy, he stumbled over to Law and reached for the cup in his hand. Law smirked as the man allowed himself a brief pout at the yawning emptiness of the vessel.
Silently, he took the cup labeled Greatest Captain #1 away from him and winked. Two hand gestures and two words later, the empty vessel in his hand was replaced by a cup of fresh hot coffee.
The swordsman grinned with satisfaction and took the cup. "Lucky you. I was about to call you a fucking egotist!" he grumbled into the cup and flopped down on the sofa with Law. Just like any other morning, the surgeon spread his legs without a word and let the swordsman lean back against his chest, enjoying his first sip of caffeine for the day.
"How rude, Zoro-ya! Who the heck said I'd share my beloved mug of coffee with you?" he teased, taking the cup from the pirate again. Zoro just grumbled again, low and vibrating so Law could feel it against his bare chest. It was their little ritual.
The swordsman stole a single sip of coffee and then laid back down to sleep. This time, on top of Law. And this time on guard.
Another small detail of his morning that he could almost get quite used to. However, there was absolutely no question of being given the chance to enjoy it over the long run. They almost arrived at Wano and it was out of question that their ways will part once they took Kaido down.
Law would ask, but he knew that it was absolutely pointless. And he had to admit, at least to himself, that he was a little envious of Mugiwara-ya. Envious that this annoying rubber gnome had found this man and earned his unconditional loyalty and devotion. Even if Law had the audacity to try to steal the swordsman away - and by heavens, if he had the chance, he wouldn't hesitate for a second - all he would gain was a loss, because piratehunter Roronoa Zoro would never pledge himself to anyone other than Monkey D Luffy.
Law grumbled scowling. Who was he fooling? He wasn't envious, he was freaking jealous of Mugiwara-ya. Sure, his crew was also loyal and devoted to him, but Zoro was taking it to a level with his devotion that he would love to have all to himself.
"How can you be in such a bad mood first thing every morning?" the swordsman muttered, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Shut up!" Law replied and reached for his chin. He gently pulled it upwards and placed a kiss on his forehead. Zoro grinned and looked at him.
"Good morning, sunshine!"
Law smiled as the piratehunter took his hand and placed it on his chest. Right over that heart. He felt a small skip in heartbeat. Well, while he might not have this man in his crew, there was something he had that nobody else could possess.
His own heartbeat safely stored in the strong chest of piratehunter Roronoa Zoro, whose beating heart he could sense calm and strong inside himself.

Terraformer Special Unit family
The terraformers squad Sunset is part of is practically a combination of the group of cadets on Top Gun: Maverick and the Mitchell family, in a few words: a horrible disaster in the making soon to auto combust, Sunset sadly inherited his dad's bad luck magnet genes and more times than not they are all into a life or death missions even when it wasn't supposed to be like that and try to survive with whatever they do, they end up going full MacGyver more times than not, if you ask, Mariah and Cloudjolt are the ones who have swiss army knifes.
Windblade gets such a headache and a attack to the spark when Sunset dials and tells her the details of the mission: "Infected?! By the cosmic rust?! How?! You were supposed to just look out the perimeter! What do you mean there are zombies?!" Chromia has to make her take a seat and let her ventilation system act before Windblade or any member of the Senate pops a circuit, and then take her axe while Ironhide charges his blaster to bring the kids and their Capitan back home.
No one says a word to Eminence, because she could start a war for her friends using every detail or omission in the intergalactic law, and she could win, but they don't have time or resources for new surrendered planets or more population, they are at their minds end.
So, Sunset is the leader, Blood Horn, little and intrepid murder machine, is second in command and Chainbreaker is the third in command before he goes to earth, later on Mayhem takes his place.
Who is in charge of this intrepid, and constantly in the verge of dying, squad? Well, let's say Astrotrain is busy keeping them alive, he is the Maverick of this group and also a very bad mouthed Rick Mitchell that is just so done with his situation and constantly asking himself what kind of spawn of a glitch put younglings on his care, why not call Springer? If he can with the Wreckers then he can also manage these kids (In the background Sabersky is laughing like a mad scientist with a explosion behind, the whole group screaming in pain or annoyance, oh ,the screams of the innocent passerbys).
There is so much he can take especially with Sunset being a magnet of bad luck and simping for his second in command ("How come that you're alive?!" "Natural talent?"), Blood Horn trying to fight beings twice her size with her bare servos ("Don't even think about it" "But-" "I said no"), Mayhem and his constant necessity to eat organic things ("Five seconds rule" "...You're so gross, kid..."), Mariah and her snob bullshit ("My designation is Black Mariah now" "It's the God-damned same thing!"), Cloudjolt trying to play and carry little things even when he is scaring aliens away with his sheer size ("Can I keep it?" "Let it go in this instance, that's this planet's king!"), even Sabersky, his old friend Blitzwing's sparkling, gets on his circuits everytime the son of a glitch tries to bug him on how he can change faster than him ("C'mon, old bot!" "You really are your sire's spawn")
Astrotrain does understand how the autobots got to "reproduce" with humans, frag, Soundwave has always been popular with human femmes and some males, but is still beyond his understanding how the Insecticons' original hive (he thinks Cloudjolt is Shrapnel's at least) and Blitzwing got their spikes wet and valves used with humans with all their shit, and he says it because he thought humans had basic standards, and one of those is apparently come and see their sparklings from time to time, Astrotrain still has to make a double take when Cloudjolt's human carrier comes to visit him with a horde of sparkmates that call themselves Cloudjolt's sires or when Rodimus (and his whole crew) come to see Sunset, it's not his fault Rodimus' doomed CNA got Sunset in the mess his life is and he tells the former Prime so when Sunset has a new injury, Bumblebee isn't thrilled to see Astrotrain be his little femme's teacher or whatever, no surprise there, and at least Jazz and his conjunx are decent (how did they get such a pain in the aft of a kid?), Soundwave still gives him the creeps when he is only there, standing, not saying a word but somehow communicating with Mayhem when they get a mission on earth and Mayhem's human creator only smiles while giving everyone energon goodies to share, Blitzwing laughs at his misery and Astrotrain can't understand what the human saw in his friend to sparkbond with Blitzwing and even giving him a sparkling.
Humans are strange creatures.
Astrotrain misses Chainbreaker, even with those organic creppy things the kid created creeping around the spaceship and the whole fact the kid was Prowl's at least he was the most sane and decent of the whole group.

Traintober 2023: Day 31 - Lights Out
Don't Let the Lights Go Out at Crovan's Gate:
Tumblr media
The day had ended, and all the engines of the Skarloey Railway were returning to their sheds to rest. Duke had broken down earlier that afternoon, his safety valve popping under all the strain he’d been putting on himself.
“You need to be more careful,” warned Skarloey. Duke raised an eyebrow. “I may have overdone it this time,” Duke admitted with a grumble. “But why are you telling me to be more careful? I saw the number of trucks you were taking.” Skarloey winced – he had taken Duke’s trucks as well as his own, straining his pistons in the process.
“Because… it was only one time,” Skarloey eventually replied. “And we have to be very careful with our health, because if we can’t be mended here in our little workshop… we go over to Crovan’s Gate.”
“I beg your pardon? I only recently came from Crovan’s Gate.” “And it’s a lucky thing you did too,” Skarloey replied ominously. Duke frowned. “You’re not telling me something, Skarloey. We both know that I will find out eventually, so you might as well be honest.”
Skarloey sighed.
“Yes, I’m not telling you something – and for good reason! Crovan’s Gate Works is haunted.” Duke went silent.
The air hung thick around them, the smell of coal, grease and steam hanging inside the poorly ventilated shed.
“Ah,” Duke said at last. Skarloey stared at him in disbelief! “You… think I’m telling the truth?” “I know it,” snorted Duke. “I was around when the Old Iron Bridge was closed; everyone was talking about it up at Peel Godred. This island hides a lot of secrets.” Skarloey chuckled humourlessly at that.
“You’re not wrong,” he said quietly. “And there’s something that lurks in Crovan’s Gate Works… no… someone.”
The lights outside the shed flickered, and Skarloey frowned. “Those blasted electric wires! Someone needs to fix them. Preferably now – especially with the time of year.” “Why’s that?” asked Duke. Skarloey sighed. “The ghost lurking around Crovan’s Gate is only able to interact with our world if all the lights go out.”
Duke made a noise of exclamation so suddenly it spooked Duncan out of his snoring! “Whaddya… want…” groaned Duncan drowsily before falling back to sleep.
“That explains the floodlight they kept shining in my face,” grumbled Duke. Skarloey went to reply, when the lights outside flickered again, then went dark. Skarloey went pale.
Outside, the wind began to pick up. The lights inside the shed wavered, but stayed on at a low, orange glow, the old oil lamp working as hard as it could to illuminate the darkness.
“Oh dear…” murmured Skarloey. Something outside moved. Across the mainline, Duke swore he could see two blood red eyes open, shifting to glare furiously at them. Sparks shot up into the night from above the eyes.
“Skarloey… what is that?” “An old Wellsworth & Suddery engine,” Skarloey replied. And he told Duke everything.
“In 1933, an old engine was sent to Crovan’s Gate Works to be overhauled to work on the Brendam Branch. He went into the workshops, and that was the last anyone saw of him. That night, a careless workman knocked over an oil lamp. The flames spread all around the wooden walls of the workshop, burning brightly as they reached up for the roof. The old engine awoke, and cried for help – begged, pleading, screamed for someone to come. But no one did. No one could. Skarloey and Rheneas were forced to watch in horror as the engine was burnt until he turned to a smoking hulk. Now, he haunts the yards at night, searching for the workman who sealed his fate.” As if to punctuate that point, the shadow of an engine raced by the shed.
“We’re safe in here, because of our light,” Skarloey said ominously. “But many a workman, coach or truck have vanished when the lights go out at Crovan’s Gate. Don’t get caught over there, Duke. Especially when the lights go out.”
The lights flickered back on, and for a split second, Duke swore he could see the horrific sight of a half-melted engine, face peeling and blistered with eyes blazing full of hatred.
Duke was more careful with himself after that, wary of the spectre that haunted Crovan’s Gate Works when the lights went out.
