oh-ho-ho, here we go. Starting with Hiro and Obake first since that's what you asked for.

Hiro and Obake are both researchers and they both HATE EACH OTHER'S GUTS at first. Like it's just never over with these two. If they have to be in the same room they have to be supervised by a responsible staff member because otherwise there WILL be a fistfight.

No, Agent Aoyama does not count as a responsible staff member.

Neither does Agent Momakase.

Or Dr. Lemon.

But eventually they do warm up to each other and can somewhat work together without it ending in blows. Hiro has accidentally called Obake "Dad" more than once.

Speaking of Obake getting called "Dad," almost every new researcher (especially the fresh out of college ones seriously these are kids what the fuck foundation) ends up accidentally imprinting on him like a fucking duckling. Obake pretends that it annoys him but he's secretly very proud of all of his science children.

Still on the Obake train here, if an object is sapient and humanoid there's a huge chance he's also going to adopt it. He's already adopted the reality-bending monstergirl and the consciousness inside of SCP-035 as his sisters and we don't think he's going to stop. We think he might be anomalous himself someone help.

Ok, finally moving on to other characters.

aken sibling fun facts

hi i really like the aken siblings bc they’re precious so here’s fun facts about them

a lot of these are largely based on how me and my biological brother and cousin act with each other because i’m a projecting ass bitch lol

when one or all of them are upset, they’ll have a movie night. they never finish the movie because they all fall asleep halfway through

occasionally they all revert to speaking japanese when they’re talking to each other, since it’s their first language and it feels the most natural to speak it around each other

this extends to just getting each other’s attention, too. axea occasionally grabs her siblings’ attention with oniichan (big brother) or oneechan (big sister). obake and vera have taken to using akachan (baby) when trying to get axea’s attention because she’s the baby of the family (for reference, vera and obake are both in their early to mid thirties and axea is 17).

All three of them like singing and if one of them starts singing a song they all know chances are the other two will join in. the most common ones are Alouette,  ¡Aikido! (Neurotic / Erotic), and Baka Mitai, as well as a LOT of musical theatre songs.

speaking of theatre, they like to quote plays a lot. their favorites are “Marwan, get off my dick”, “I AM A SPACE ALIEN AND I HAVE FOUR BUTTS”, “we will now take a five minute break so that i can eat a hot pocket”, “IT’S FROM JAPAAAAAAAAAAN” (in which they belt out the “Japan” part for as long as they can), and “did i NOT instruct you that box 5 was to be left EMPTY?!”

It’s not uncommon to walk into a room and see a puddle of akens on the floor. kinda like how a family of cats will just pile onto each other. sometimes they fall asleep like that. they call it Floor Time and you do NOT interrupt Floor Time.

their rooms are like common areas. it’s not uncommon to see all three of them in one bedroom (or in obake’s lab, the motherfucker almost never leaves it). half of the time they’re not even paying attention to each other, they’re literally just vibing.

they stash snacks for each other around the lair because they’re all stupid and forget to eat

one time they all got each other weighted blankets for christmas

also their mom made them all do ballet when they were little. all three of them.

Obake: Sort of Alternative/Indie, like Mother Mother's music

Vera: Also Alternative/Indie, but her stuff is closer to Mitski

Axea: I already said something else for her I know but I'm changing it again. She's ALSO Alt/Indie like her siblings, but her music is more like Will Wood's songs. And yes, she's just as chaotic.

They also tend to participate in Chorus Battles with other artists a lot. They have a sort of rivalry with Big Hero 6 in this regard, but it's all jokes.

Oh you asking for LORE lore huh

As we all know, EGO, Blake, Makoto and Chiaki are all dating canon characters (Hardlight, Di, Momakase and Obake respectively), but did you know that Axea has a crush on Karmi? She knows she doesn’t have a chance and there’d be issues since Karmi’s pretty tightly associated with Big Hero 6 (and also because Axea’s afraid she’d end up really gross and obsessive), but it’s nice to imagine.

As for OCs being related to canon characters, Chiaki’s actually related to Yama! She’s technically his niece, since her stepmother (who sucks, by the way- they’ve definitely bonded over their mutual hatred for her) is his half-sister. 

And of course, there’s Orange Vera and Murder Muffin Axea, who are Obake’s younger sisters. We all know about them.

As for getting along with people, Chiaki gets very anxious around Di because Di looks like her stepmother. If she has to talk to Di, there has to be someone with her to make sure she doesn’t start panicking. It’s usually Momakase.

Speaking of Momakase, Chiaki and Momakase get along really well because AYOOOO SWORD GANG

Vera gets along well with all of the villains since, by association with Obake, she’s been roped into villain stuff. She allows villains to stay in her apartment if they need to lay low for a while. Her doing this is what allowed Juniper and Axea to become good friends.

EGO gets along well with a good majority of the villains. The only one he’s less than best friends with is Barb because she calls his music “noise” a lot and that’s bad vibes and he doesn’t want anything to do with that.

Vera has a soft spot for kids and would ABSOLUTELY think these little nerds are funky as hell. She’ll definitely treat them like her own kids and give them like, free merch from her shows and shit.
