no but listen i am constantly thinking about the mcu and other franchises like star wars and dc have tried to replicated their cinematic universe and i think the problem is that these big budget movies aren't willing to commit to the concept of a stand alone film. the entire reason avengers (2012) actually works is because all of the movies beforehand were complete stand alone action flicks that tied into the same universe only by a few end credit scenes and the fact that SHIELD was at least mentioned in each movie. when you go over to the DCEU they're trying so hard to get to the justice league and they haven't even made a batman movie yet!!!

i also think this is why the mcu started sucking after age of ultron because they stopped making stand alone movies and instead made a cinematic experience where you had to go to antman: 17 revenge of the cockroaches just so you could see an ensemble movie where deadpool crosses the multiverse to find spiderman's girlfriend for an ocean's 11 team up with moon knight

Watching series 13 episode 1 and seeing Joe back has really driven it home to me that I've just lost my comfort character and it fucking sucks.

I like that we were given at least some kind of mention of Aiden and why he left, and seeing Jac had moved back to Fraud is a move that makes sense. But Aiden being in Australia for work is... well it's something at least, very unexpected. Glad it was a somewhat positive move tho. I will also admit I did love seeing Joe back, Vera's reaction to seeing him was absolutely class. The reason for him being back too... Although seeming a bit out of character, I'm glad to see him open up a bit more. The new DC, Steph, is great and I cannot wait to see more of her. ive never been kissed. idk if that counts as mundane... if that doesnt count then i always had a very strong and overpowering desire that strikes me whenever i listen to pop punk, which is to sit at a desk on my computer with streams of sunlight coming into the room--but it has to be in a room of my own (which ive almost never had)... ig that can best be summed up with "i wanna have my own room or a space for myself" but it feels very particular, especially bc its always spurred by pop punk of all things. idk if it makes any sense but its really not exciting.

nutmeg ⇢ how’s your room/home decorated? do you have a specific theme or style going on?

speaking of rooms.... i hate my room. i technically share w my sister but our room has always been a mishmash of second hand furniture and absolutely no cohesion. when i do get my own space and can start anew, i'll try to pick a theme or style to stick with so it can be pretty

i sometimes LOVE villains, depending on the media. in ga, i don't really feel as much affection for the villains (unless u count natsume since he was an antagonist for like five chapters). and i loved the gotham/dc villains but they were for the most part treated like protagonists, so it doesnt count either. i LOVE silco from arcane. i also am a huge fan of tsukasa from jshk. lots of disney villains are great, as well as rasputin from anastasia (historical inaccuracies aside). i just love when villains are fun ig... i like watching them do their crazy little evil things, as long as they're captivating enough

Cactus: something I’m learning? Hmmmm I’m trying to become a better writer and editor. It’s a learning curve as I never was good at writing anything. I’m also trying to slowly learn Spanish words. Until I get my cognitive issues fixed it will be a slow learning.

Bamboo: yes!!! Soon as I’m home I strip down to my underwear and grab comfy pjs 😂😂😂 the bra is off before I reach my bedroom.

Mahonia: what inspires me the most is my surroundings. I try to look to every life to help me stay motivated. I express it normally by my weird sense of humor.

Jasmine: I can’t say I won’t ever read something or watch it again once I experience it. If I love something I will go back to read or watch it.

Aloe Vera: I have always wanted to work with the poor in both the US and overseas. I’ve never been well enough to experience it. People shouldn’t have to worry about where their next meal comes from or where clean water is. I kinda wanted to join the peace core when I was younger but life happens.

Palm tree: where do I start? I LOVE villains. The joker from DC is my favorite. In the dark knight movie he made a lot of key points. Marvel there’s Brock Rumlow, Billy Russo, heck even Thanos made good points 🙈🙈🙈 I think I like villains as I have always liked to see why they tick the way they do. (Hence my criminal justice degrees)

Taro: right now I would tell them what I’ve been finding out health wise. I tend to keep a lot to myself to not worry those around me. I would tell them that I loved them cause I know tomorrow is not always promised.

Chamomile: it’s funny, my hubs will always say it’s hard to buy for me cause when I see something I buy it. But I love books, something mystery and suspenseful. I love anything with unicorns or heck Captain America or Winter Soldier collectibles. (I have a huge collection of both) Though anything that comes from the heart of a friend is always the best gift

I think of my username as too long but also fitting for me & ENHYPEN. I like alliterations (if you couldn't tell already from my usernames on the other blogs I run) and I associate ethereal with being really pretty & magical which I think is true for engenes and ENHYPEN (not to say that I only love ENHA for their visuals ahaha, their talent and songs are crazy good)

I watched the CW DC shows along with some justice league cartoons growing up. So that's what I'm basing it off of but Captain Cold 😭 he was that type of villain that ended up being a hero and despite his cold exterior, he was a good one overall. Wish we got to see more of him in the CW shows

Went to see The People’s Joker (and dragged a cis friend with the group @stoneoceancid : p) last night (well really this morning lol). It was a an interesting watch, Definitely for me personally better watched with the mindset that it was using the aesthics of the DC universe to tell a personal story about the trans expeirnce than one TRULY about that world and charcathers (cause some characterizations would bother me otherwise).

BUT with that in mind it was a very well done and visually interesting film that spoke allot to the Transfemme experience. While the narrative presented was in many ways very different form my own I really resonated with the complex relationship between the protagonist and her mother and how that related to her identity as well as the formative influence of a not so great romantic realtionship with a trans masculine guy in the journey (tho in my case I didn’t come out until well after it ended while in the protagonist it was immediate and while in the film the partner displayed emotionally abusive behavior for mine I’d honestly just categorize us as both being young dumbasses who were not really meant to be the one for one another) and with all the lore references Vera clearly is a fan of the world of DC so being transfemmes who are is I suppose another point of relatability : p

OK my bitches (by which I mean the lovely operblr folks), Don Carlos at the Met has been seen. Here’s a bullet point list of my thoughts.

--Even if I don’t like Act 1, if you’re at the Met and those opening notes sound, it’s very exciting!

--If you ever asked yourself: “When Matthew Polenzani does that gorgeous pianissimi, can it possibly hit the back of the hall?” The answer is yes, yes, it does. *sobbing*

--Hubby: “I expected Sonya to be pretty good, but she’s even better than I expected.” Truth.

--The Met orchestra playing the Act 2 prelude…. Fuck. Me.

--The bro-love duet is everything you want it to be.

--If a mezzo doesn’t own the stage when she walks on as Eboli, can she really call herself a mezzo? Barton is A Mezzo ™.

--Carlos is so extra in the scene with Elizabeth. Matthew was perfectly ridiculous.

--Dupuis is so natural in the duet with Owens, I didn’t even think about the fact he was singing. It was just so good. The only criticism I have is most of the night, I wish I could have turned up the volume on Owens’s lovely voice.

--There are moments in DC when I am wont to drift. A mediocre garden trio will do it every time. This was not mediocre.

--The Met chorus was just crazy good in the Auto-da-fe.

--Owens best moment is the open of Act 4. Without anyone else to compete with but an orchestra at a volume he can work with, he’s great.

--The Grand Inquisitor scene is the only tempo issue I had with the evening—too fast. Let the bassoons of doom take their time.

--Relyea is everything you thought he would be.

--Let’s be blunt: this duet and the quartet that follow is one of the places I drift sometimes.

--If the audience had clapped any longer for Barton, the Met would have been forced to reconsider the encore policy.

--My poor Rodrigue! The singing could not have been better. And good lord, Matthew and Etienne were all up in each other’s stuff. One quibble about the staging, though. There are long stone benches/tombs (depending on the scene) and people sit on them all the time. Couldn’t Carlos have schlepped his boyfriend over to one rather than letting him stand until the very end? It barely registered the poor guy was dying.

--Did I cry literal tears during the lacrimosa? No one will ever know, because it was very dark.

--Sonya nailed her aria, unsurprisingly.

--Until it hits “Au revoir,” this is another duet where I sometimes drift, but once they hit that part, I was invested and it was lovely.

--So, those reviews were not exaggerating—Carlos gets stabbed, and Rodrigue comes back surrounded by a bright light to embrace him and they collapse on each other in the middle of the stage together.

Obviously, I loved it. It’s in cinemas next weekend. Go see it if you can!
