✨M. de Lorraine’s Jealousy✨
The Duc d’Orléans uttered a cry of delight on perceiving the Chevalier de Lorraine. “This is fortunate, indeed,” he said; “by what happy chance do I see you? Had you indeed disappeared, as every one assured me?”
“Yes, monseigneur.”
“A caprice?”
„Le vicomte de Bragelonne” - A. Dumas

finally got to the scene with Alexandre in season 2 and, don't get me wrong, it's one of the best written erotic scenes in a choose your story game ive seen BUT. BUT.
the scene in one of the following chapters where you go to his room for comfort and you just sleep in bed together???? im not even typing this actually im still in a puddle on the floor (god i hope you can do more than have him as a sidepiece in wharever the last season will be) (kings used to grant smaller titles to people to reward them for their services to their king and country so.... Baron Alexandre????? that'd certainly make it easier)

Vying for Versailles is frustrating because it feels like there was a good story in there, but then someone decided to cut out all of the good filler (i.e. character and relationship development), so now characters just speedrun through the events of the book as if they are in a race to hit the next vital plot point as fast as possible.

Hey! What did you think of the latest update of Vying for Versailles?
I enjoyed it a lot.
I'm glad I finally got to break up with Bonne. She is beautiful and very sweet but we clearly wanted different things out of the relationship. I think she wanted a Prince(ss) Charming to whisk her away to her happy ending but.. That's just not realistic. My MC's reputation is important to her and making Bonne happy upsets a lot of people and stresses me out. Also, as calculating MC, I felt that MC couldn't really be herself around Bonne like she can with Catherine or Alexandre (and sometimes Anne, who is my best friend according to game stats). Looking forward to finding a new relationship that's less dysfunctional in Season 2. There are 3 ladies on the table for me, one of which is definitely a love interest and two of which may or may not be (my wlw ass is so pleased there are so many great women in this book).
As for friends, I have Queen Anne, who despite being terrible in a lot of ways (cough, homophobia, supporting an abnormally-even-for-the-time misogynistic preacher and being a French royal) is still really impressive and a great ally to have. I'm also taking a liking to Francois and enjoy working with him and Alexandre as a team ^.^
I also like the way the Alexandre situation was handled. There were a lot of options! Alexandre lovers got to have their hot historical power imbalance relationship (/pos, I usually love that kind of thing), while people who didn't want that could have a variety of other options. I'm glad Alexandre and I talked and had a mature and honest conversation, in which we both decided not dating each other was the best choice.
I'm also really thrilled to have succeeded at court lol. I got a good grade in being a courtier, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve.
How was your route in season 1?
-seducer anon
So sorry for the late reply. I received this when I was replaying season 1 to get my stats in order and I just now finished the vfv update.
I also really enjoyed this update and I think vfv might be currently my favourite updating book. Pretty good selection of LIs/flings and just all the possible routes you can take. I also like that you actually have to think your actions through and not just buy every Single diamond Option to unlock the good ending.
As of now I'm staying together with Bonne to see how their relationship develops especially since they both want completely different things (like you said Bonne wants to have a fairytale happy ending and escape her marriage while mc wants to gain Power and influence in the french court). I agree that if their priorities don't change they won't be happy in this relationship long term especially since both our mcs are focused on a good Reputation which can be Ruined if we're too close with Bonne in public. But I'm curious, I want drama in this book and I can't say goodbye to Bonne yet :') (at least the relationship is open and I can still whore around with all the beautiful ladies).
I also have the closest friendship with queen Anne and yes she's obviously not a good person but what can you expect from a girlboss from the 17th century. She also has very strict rules and of course only does things for her own benefit (such as keeping around the misogynistic preacher as long as he also confirms her family's divine right to rule). I don't remember her being Homophobic tho since she sort of gave mc advice on Bonne and mcs relationship (I mean the advice was that Bonne should just marry the guy and secure a safe live by fulfilling her duties and then she can do whatever she wants. She also only has that viewpoint because she was not in a love marriage either and well her husband was gay anyway. At least she told mc to repay Bonne for the good times and care for her brocken heart). Then again it's the 17th century france, the only ppl who are not Homophobic are queer ppl.
Anyway I do like Anne, I find her interesting and she's definitely helping with my Reputation and it's always a flex rmto be friends with a powerful milf.
I also like François, he's like one of the few good men in this place. So I'm surprised he is married to the girlboss and the next mistress of Louis haha.
I maintained a relatively Civil relationship with Alexander and I'm curious to see if Alexander will help or Sabotage mc now that she is free from his grip.
The absolute Euphoria of getting the "good Reputation at court" and "bright influence" notification is absolute Worth all the braincell use and Drama. Getting a good grade in fictional court life is something to want and to achieve 😌

You read the RGU manga? Tragic, RGU is easily the top five: "Skip the manga, only watch the anime."
Anyway, yeah. Mikage is only sixteen.
Tumblr media
I think he suffers from the RGU: "He does not look at all like that on the actual show." cuz his appearance on the anime is clearly of a teenager.
Tumblr media
AH. see thats a teenager the other image was most definitely giving 60 year old professor. also to clarify i tried to read the manga via my highschool's library but i never made it past volume 1 bc they had that, skipped 2 and 3, but had 4.
and ik it was high school bc somehwere on one of my blogs is a post of an utena doodle i did back then on a sticky note

Okay, I caved and downloaded Romance Club😭😭 Does anyone have any good story recommendations? I'm still gonna be on Choices and post Choices content (and finish off the books on my reading list). I just feel like I need to stop relying on one storytelling app
Ugh, this is such a weird feeling! It reminds me of when I switched from Episode to Choices and I had to acclimate to the better quality of stories imao. I just wanna ✨expose myself✨ to more interactive apps and since Storyscape or wtvr doesn't exist anymore this is the closest I can get
Kali: Flame of Samsara (UP TO DATE)
Astrea's Broken Heart (UP TO DATE)
Heaven's Secret: Requiem (UP TO DATE)
Chasing You 2 (UP TO DATE)
W: Time Catcher (UP TO DATE)
Love, Sin, and Evil Vol. 1 (UP TO DATE)
The Desert Rose (UP TO DATE)
Garden of Eden (UP TO DATE)
Soulless (UP TO DATE)
Song of the Crimson Nile (CATCH UP NEXT DIAMOND RUSH)
Legend of the Willow (NEXT DIAMOND RUSH)
Heart of Trespia (NEXT DIAMOND RUSH)
Psi (NEXT DIAMOND RUSH)
Chasing You (STARTED...)
Sails in the Fog (STARTED...)
Dracula: A Love Story (STARTED...)
Rage of the Titans (STARTED...)
Hell and Highwater (STARTED...)
Shadows of Saintfour
COMPLETED
Kali: Call of Darkness: 9/10; love the MC, the characters, the story progression, the Dozen lore, replayability, etc. but gets a point off for its problematic depiction of Indian culture and Hinduism) tbh it deserves an extra point or two off because I despise the way Remy clearly wrote from a Eurocentric perspective, but this is also the first RC book I read after the slew of mid Choices books so I got attached unfortunately
Theodora: 9.6/10; I got the ending where I was only able to save my soul and it made me sad 😭 the story was well written but there were parts where I was just a lil bored. At least, that’s how I felt initially before I became obsessed with the book. It's objectively amazing etc. but I feel kinda robbed from screentime with the OG characters if that makes sense? Either way the writer did a great job writing them into the plot in later seasons and the MC is so amazing I love her <3 it’s not easy to write the progression of multiple relationships already but to have a different set of likable LIs every season is incredible!
Arcanum: 9.8/10; THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD omg I love how the plot came full circle and the MC was interesting and well-written (her character design was also top tier). It's such a unique concept for a book I love it. I feel like S3 could have gone by a lil quicker (along with a couple of other nitpicky things) but that could just be because S2 was so full of action
Heaven's Secret: 9.9/10; I just started its sequel, but I was pleasantly surprised at how engaging this book was! I like the gradual progression from being a new student to slowly learning the truth behind your death and about the academy. The final battle scene was super cool, and I feel like everything had a logical explanation (ex. Shepha only having power over light). I also like the different pathways of being an Angel, Demon, or Harmony Bearer (which I was!) it was really fun and seems like a replayable book <3
Vying for Versailles: [review pending, check later]
Sins of London: [review pending, check later]
Heaven's Secret 2: [review pending, check later]

playthrus ive planned so far:
vying for versailles:
farmed it during diamon rush on alexandre route, i'm gonna replay that and actually take my time and read the story on that route (dark spycraft ofc)
prince philippe on bright influence
queen maria theresa on dark spycraft (im sorry but like. just think about it. ah yes that's the queen people don't like much and her lesbian witch lover who works in the shadows and can frame you. iconic)
heaven's secret:
ended up picking it as my next story for diamond rush (i don't play the game that much outside of it) and i'm definitely gonna go demon route, but i haven't played enough to pick an LI, maybe the Mal guy? idk being evil and disruptive is fun
elite tag:
literally no idea, it's my diamond farm so far but i find it pretty boring
sails in the fog:
i have a very vague memory of playing it a long time ago??? idk. anyway a lot of people seem to like sebastian and like. pls tell me the designs get better bc jesus yikes. but also why not again i like being evil and disruptive im not gonna go for the nicest person
anyhoo tell me what books and LIs you liked best bc there's a lot of choice

So I watched Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame last night and I had a thought.
Notre Dame being one of the most famous cathedrals in the world, I'm curious if Nocturne is going to adhere to the rule of vampires not being able to set foot on holy ground and if so, will Notre Dame Cathdral will be used as a point of sanctuary for our heroes at some point?
Castlevania vampires burn in sunlight and fear the Cross, but the animated series is pretty vague on whether or not consecrated ground or a house of worship is off limits. We see the Night Creatures are able to enter the Gresit Cathedral easily enough (among other chapel settings in multiple games,) but Alucard confirms they are unaffected by sunlight in Season 4, showing they don't have the same limitations as vampires. Trevor also makes a joke about catching fire since he's an excommunicate, so the idea of someone 'unholy' going up in flames within a church is not unheard of here.
In Season 2, the vampires all question whether or not running water will harm them. This is revisited in the final battle when the undead Bishop blesses the Danube. (Which...is that still holding up? Is the second longest river in Europe completely impassable to vampires?)
As far as I've personally seen, the anime Shiki is the only series I can think of that addresses the holy ground rule, so I think it would be interesting if Nocturne made use of that lore. Plus, it would be reminiscent of the games' save rooms, which are often small chapels or confessionals where the enemy can't follow the player.
That said, there's no real guarantee if Notre Dame or any other specific church or cathedral will make an appearance in the narrative. Actually, I'm almost positive the building the above gif is supposed to be the Palace of Versailles, home of the French court. Which seems to have been overrun by vampires, so...really wanting to know what happened there if that's the case.

Palace of Versailles
Tumblr media
Aside from some of the windows...Versailles, maybe?
The original series used real locations present day Romania like Târgoviște, Brăila, Lindenfeld, Dănești, and Argeș, so I wouldn't be surprised if Nocturne followed that pattern with the Palace of Versailles, Paris, and maybe Notre Dame.

some random rc opinions cause its 2am and i cant sleep:
• revealing that kingu was ultimately the reason why nikkal's problems (that affected her entire life) started - even if he didn't know/mean it - IN THE LAST SEASON was a very low blow. like after all this time you're telling me my man had been using her since she was a child and ended up being the reason why she became an orphan?? WHO APPROVED THAT—
• kazu is the best li on the entire app. period. idc if you have other favourites you can't find a single flaw on the dude. he set the bar too high no one's ever gonna come close everything about him makes me wanna SCREAM i honestly can't believe he was written by a MAN
• theodora is top 3 best books. the characters, the stories, the feelings??? unmatched. i felt so many emotions reading it i actually sobbed through a third of it. it's not in my top 3 favourite books but it's undeniable its one of the best written (i would go as far as to say theodora and lotw share the throne)
• s1 of heaven's secret 2 is the worst. i'm sorry but it was such a challenge to get through it i can't even- it's not badly written, that's not what i'm saying, it's just SO MISERABLE, every single character is miserable !!and i know that's the point!! but ughhhhhh
• vying for versailles has the best mc idc what anyone says or thinks SHE'S THE HBIC!!!! no one's doing it like her truly an icon
• dals has one of the best/most compelling stories. the ottoman storyline is extremely heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time cause you know from the beginning its ending in tragedy. striking a deal to protect your loved ones only to see it ultimately fail and you're forced to live through 600 years of agony until they reincarnate and you get a second chance with them?? just inject it on my veins. now now i do think they're dragging it a little too much and it's now a bit boring but oh well
• i'm lowkey tired of the mc always being "inferior" to others, they're either inexperienced, poor, powerless, caged etc while the other characters are the opposite so the mc always depends on them in some way
• a book is only as good as its lis. there, said it. idc if you're writing the best piece of literature of the century if the lis are boring i will not be that interested oop and if its a shitty cheap book but with the loml in there you can bet i'll be even replaying that shit
• psi is like a gold mine. the beginning is bo-ring but once you get past like half of s1 you'll be simply amazed by how good the book is and once you get to s2 it's over for you like congratulations now you're hooked and there's no turning back welcome to the club!!!
