so george blagden (my beloved) played athelstan in the vikings series and also played louis xiv in the versailles series. so when i saw him in the vikings for the first time i literally yelled LOUIS WTH ARE YOU DOING IN THE MONASTERY?!??? and that’s insane because i can’t perceive it normally every time i see him

seriously, me and my mother (who watched both shows w me) just started to call him louis and that’s just like “omg lu what are you doing with these vikings u must go back to france”

Louis XIV and Philippe d'Orléans from the Versailles series. Louis is Ra because of him being the Sun-King and Ra being the personnification of Sun in Egyptian mythology. His ennemy is Apophis, who tries to eat him every night. But Ra also wears a little snake on his crown, so Philippe is (and will always be) more of a protector.

a monchevy spin-off would be interesting ngl but i think it wouldn't realistically work? personally id prefer a spin-off after season three since monchevy would be at their most healthy then. they worked through so much to get to where they ended.

but i don't think that would work without the rest of the characters, especially louis. one of the main storylines in the show, and one of main parts of phillipe's storylines, was coming to terms with the fact his place was now at versailles and by louis' side. phillipe was well aware that his life wasn't his own but instead tied to the court, louis and the politics. phillipe finally accepted this fate in the last season and reconciled with louis - which also means he likely would be back as an advisor amongst the ministers. so it seems quite hard to imagine a monchevy spin-off without any of the other characters.

that being said of course there could be a spin-off from before louis decided to build the palace. i think it would be interesting to see monchevy's life before they moved to versailles, but at the same time I don't doubt their relationship would just replicate monchevy in s1-s2 (where they were at their most unhealthy stage).

idk, it's really interesting to think about as a monchevy spin-off is probably the most requested thing in the fandom. but i do struggle in seeing how this would work without louis or the other characters? but i get it, it's not an historically accurate show so the writers can basically do anything.

I’m going to be posting a bit of the new Marie Antoinette series as I’m currently watching it!

It was made by Canal+ which also made Versailles one of my favourite live action series my old blog was dedicated to, this is great they’ve brought out another series. Production location, Versailles Studios de Bry-Sur-Marne.

I hope it’s good, so far it has been interesting and kept me interested. ^^ I’ve been so excited to get to see The Hall Of Mirrors again in a series filmed in the beautiful manner they do the shots with the cameras. 🎥

Miss my Monchevy of course in a way, but this is enjoyable so far anyway. I’m pretty happy with Louis Cunningham wondering around as the scruffy confused and sketched out Prince Louis. I can’t find a picture of him like that though. 😅

Sign me up to their costume designer, as usual. Aha. They’re not absolutely correct but it’s very gorgeous styling.
