UHH the timeline is already hard enough to follow for 4 it's a little messy... I imagine for the pom wraith AU, it's mostly the events of pikmin 4 with some extra bits tacked onto it (like Olimar encountering the plasm at some point on his lonesome).

(ive done a few ask masterposts at this point so forgive me if i already answered this one) AHHHHH i mean pom DOES really like Olimar. he challenges her skills out on the field when she's trying to track him down as a leafling which she finds engaging, and she finds him quite charming from the logs she reads. after he's cured, he's nothing but kind and supportive.

i don't think she'd try to take off with him like the plasm, but she'd feel protective over him if something were to threaten him

THIS IS A REALLY GOOD QUESTION... i had to consult with my friends for a lengthy food discussion (big hearts to @cosmicocoffee who helped me with like literally all of them)

for Pom, she's a wraith, so she just likes interesting and strong tastes. she's very partial to sweet things, and she LOVES chocolate (because that's one of the first sweets she ever tasted). although, she also like really spicy things because it's a neat feeling. as for least favorite, uh... i mean, the girl will literally eat soap for fun. it's very rare for her to have a food item she despises. they DO exist though, she fucking hates raisins

Dingo likes MANLY food, like MEAT and RIBS. well, he mostly likes being seen eating it. he does have a fondness for sweet things and smoothies. the town he grew up in could get pretty cold, so he grew up eating quite a lot of hot meals like caldo de res (he's especially fond of soups made the way his mama used to make them). he also picks up a fondness for hot tea from growing up with yonny, but he always puts extra honey in his cups. dingo HATES some foods though, especially sushi. the last time he tried to impress people by eating sushi, Dingo was hunched over outside the restaurant with Yonny rubbing his back...

shepherd! likes coffee. @soupvnova said she'd go to starbucks (spacebucks?) often to get the pup cup for oatchi which is very good. she has the healthiest diet out of all of them with routine exercise, protein shakes, lots of fruits and shit. she does have a weakness and a bit of a sweet tooth though, especially for cake. it hardly puts a dent in her diet though given her metabolism, she's a very built captain. she's not a fan of steamed vegetables... too squishy for her.

while talking about shepherd it is imperative to share that Oatchi will eat ANYTHING. if something hits the ground it is in his mouth immediately, shepherd has had to wrestle him to get space dog-unsafe food outta there before. although she will also constantly sneak him stuff from the dinner table

collin's fun because he enjoys eating healthy, he's a fan of fresh spring salads and stuff like pineapples and watermelon, but he also has to live off of a lot of processed/vending machine food because the man pulls all nighters frequently. he's also prone to stress eating... you can find him demolishing a watermelon and he's just. covered with seeds. he likes crunchy foods and seeds-- he's very hamstercore. he comes to Despise instant noodles because of how often he has to rely on them for food in the dead of night

fucking uhhh yonny, he likes foods that pair well with reading, he has pretty "mature" tastes and enjoys tea, maybe a glass of wine if he's feeling it. he often gets tunnel vision with his work and will neglect to eat, and as their doctor he'll have to set reminders on his phone to go have a meal so he doesn't fall ill. i can imagine he's not too into sugary things...

we already know bernard has some very expensive tastes, but he might just struggle with some textures or tastes in food. like, he enjoys pizza, this man is just a very picky eater... i can see him having tastes all over the board though. also he's protective over his stuff, he cared more about dingo eating his pizza than abandoning him

russ. uh... russ. yeah

olimar and louie are not part of the rescue corps, but i could see olimar joining (and louie following) sometime after the events of 4! he'd get a much better benefits package... he'd be good at providing logistical support for rangers out on the field, although his achy back would probably keep him off the field himself

AHH THANK YOU!! i have written some things but i don't have anything published -- to be honest, i'm not much of a fic writer. most of my writing is mostly just me talking through ideas/stories/cool character moments with friends, which is not a very shareable format unfortunately💔

i will say, talking about ideas with buddies gives me a shit load of ideas/motivation for drawing, and a lot of the stuff i've posted probably had that as an origin

YEAHH i have designs that i've been meaning to flesh out but i'm lazy... i've been sitting on a dingo and yonny wraith design for like a month now, i should just bite the bullet and post them as-is if i ever want to share them... oh well! it's all for fun, i'm not gonna stress about it looking good

Devlog #16: Answers and Questions

Hello everyone! Welcome to this month’s devlog!

If you just stumbled upon this, I am Adrienne, also known as insertdisc5! I’m the developer, writer, artist, main programmer, etc of the game. The game being In Stars and Time, a timeloop RPG, which is also the next and final game in the START AGAIN series, following START AGAIN: a prologue (available here!). LET’S GET TO IT. This month is Q&A: Cohost edition!

“A Q&A again?” Heheh well I don’t have anything to talk about this month ✨ We’re working hard on finalizing the localization! And on porting to consoles! And on secret stuff! You know, the usual!!! Get excited!!! So, Q&A again 💖 And see, I asked questions for Q&As on Twitter. On Tumblr. On Discord. But some new social media platforms have entered the fray. SO.

One of the bits of advice that gets tossed around by indie devs is to avoid making RPGs, especially for your first few games, because they tend to be large in scope, difficult to prototype, and easy to underestimate.

Was this ever a fear for you in making START AGAIN, or In Stars and Time? Did you take any special precaution to keep these games within a scope you could handle, and did you learn tricks from START AGAIN that carried over to ISAT when in came to keeping things manageable? Thank you!! ✨

I had no idea that was a piece of advice given, but yep, that makes a lot of sense! Since I didn’t know, I went in blissfully aware, teehee.

I will say that I am familiar with working on big projects from working on comics, and with seeing big webcomic artists always mention to never start with your magnum opus… And I could tell ISAT had the potential to be way bigger than I imagined, which is why I decided to start with creating the prologue to get used to RPGMaker as well as making games. Kind of a pilot of sorts!

Again, thanks to comics, I know to keep my scope pretty small, because even if you keep it small it WILL balloon into something way bigger than you thought. Just for the prologue, I imagined it’d be a 20mn game, and it’s easily a 2-3h one! Keep your scope small!!!

As for tricks, when I catch myself thinking “wow what if I added this cool thing”, I try to always keep in mind those two things: 1. How long will it take to implement (including bug testing), and 2. Does it add something important to the game. I know we always want to add a fishing game, or a fun minigame, but do you Need It. Does it add something substantial to the story, to the Themes. Or are you just adding it because you like fishing games. Which is a valid reason, but also, maybe just make a fishing game instead. You are not the Yakuza series!!!! You are a small indie gamedev!!!! Think about you in 4 months who has to fix all the fishing game bugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s so weird!!! The game has been done for so long!!! I’m very glad I asked some friends to playtest the game, so I could at least get some feedback before the game is out… In some ways it feels like the game will be done twice: once back when I finished making the game, and once when the game actually comes out. It’s just a very strange experience. Sometimes people tell me they’re excited to find out more about this story beat, or about this character, and a part of me is like… Wait, haven't you played the game? Oh, yeah, it’s not actually out. Guess you’ll find out later.

EDIT: My god. I just checked on my private devlog for when I completed the Alpha of ISAT. It was in August of last year (I lay down on the floor and look at the ceiling) (I still had to finish all the illustrations so really the game was Done Donezo in October but still…)

SO MANY THINGS. Here are some of them: support when it comes to porting/marketing/social media/localization, feedback on the game and how to make it better, community guidance, testing support, QA/internal testing… The game couldn’t be the way it is without them.

For more small details, I have a weekly meeting with my producer, Dora! We talk about the game and how everything is going. A couple months back, I also was checking in with the internal QA team fairly often to fix any remaining bugs. They also helped me find ISAT’s additional programmer, Isabella, and she is a godsend because coding is hard. They also take care of communicating with press, finding more opportunities to showcase the game in conventions, talking with the localization/porting teams… I am probably forgetting a thousand little things they did to help out!!! THEY’RE SO GOOD OK

So obviously the skills/spells/what have you are based off of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Did you design each "type" to be like a certain style? Rock being heavy damage and defense buffs, scissors being speed and quick attacks, like that?

Absolutely! I just went with the obvious. Rock is physical damage, defense focused, Scissors is swords, attack focused, and Paper is magic, mind focused. It was fun to develop a spell system around those! I’m excited for people to find out more about Craft…

The cast is so much fun and their personalities are really well-balanced—did any of the characters change pretty drastically from their initial conception during development of the game?

I’m so glad you streamed it with friends… I hope you had a good fun time…

And for sure! Isabeau and Mirabelle were pretty set from the get go (himbo and shy wallflower), but Odile started as more of a gentle teacher type, even if I very quickly went the snarky old lady route. Siffrin and Bonnie were harder to pin down– I wasn’t sure how to portray Siffrin’s despair in the prologue, and started showing them more overtly depressed, but I thought it’d be Very Yummy to have them show a happy facade to their friends. And then, for ISAT, I had to figure out what a non-depressed Siffrin would be like, for the first couple acts of the game before the despair sets in. As for Bonnie, I had a lot of trouble figuring out what they’d be like, what kind of kid they were, what their relationship with everyone else would be like, and then I thought about what their past would be like and then their characterization was set in stone. Sometimes you need to figure out One Thing to unlock a character’s brain. I’m very excited for everyone to find out more about each character in ISAT!

What games (or other media) lit a fire under you to create your own?

It could be stuff you liked so much it inspired, something you found frustrating because you felt an itch to do it differently, or something that made you realise humans make things and you could be one of them.

I found a lot of indie games inspiring, but I think Umineko might’ve been the one that made me go… Oh, anyone can just make a massive video game narrative. And you can make it very simple, with kinda goofy sprites, and still manage to make an incredibly touching story!

As for frustrating games that lit a fire under me, I think I’d say in general, I found issue with the classic trope of the “main character helps people and doesn’t get anything back”. What often happens in some games is that you help NPCs with their problems, sometimes helping them with very intense, complicated problems! For a very long time! And, in exchange, you get… A cool item? A nice new skill? And that’s it?

I know this might be complicated to implement on a narrative perspective, but I remember playing Persona 5, and your character just went through a very harrowing experience (like, oh, being INTERROGATED AND TORTURED BY THE POLICE) and you help your friends during social links, and they go “thanks for your help! Bye~” like WHAT ABOUT ME. WHAT ABOUT MY PROBLEMS. CAN YOU GIVE ME A HUG

So on a certain level, I wanted a game where instead of the characters around you having problems, the main character also has problems. And is subconsciously screaming “CAN YOU PLEASE NOTICE I HAVE PROBLEMS AND GIVE ME A HUG.” And hopefully, the characters notice. Winks

Hm. I do want to say I wrote most of the prologue/ISAT during the pandemic, and I felt very lonely and not supported. But then guess what. I told my friends about how I felt. And most of them told me they had no idea, and vowed to support me more. And now I’m closer to them. So the moral of this answer is, yeah, it’d be nice if people noticed, but also, you need to tell people when you’re feeling bad. LOOKS AT SIFFRIN

It’s interesting, the songs I listened to for the prologue are generally more heavy and frenetic, while the ones for ISAT are more hopeful… I made sure to listen to more lively songs for ISAT, since that’s the feeling I wanted to give off…

That’s all the questions I have! In other, non related ISAT news, I have started a new project and having a lot of fun. It’s a visual novel this time. I’m hoping to get some screenshots ready in the next few months, but also I’m taking it easy on this one. If it takes years with many breaks in between to get it done, it’s fine. What matters to me right now is the process!

People-Watching vs People Watching

Ron Speirs x reader

A/N: Anon, thank you so much for the compliment, and thank you so much for trusting me to write this idea -- I had a lot of fun with it (mainly because I'm like halfway through with Fierce Valor and got to sprinkle in more Speirs facts hehehe). This doesn't really take place between or during any episode, and the mission referred to later in the story is made up. So if anyone is looking for historical accuracy, this isn't it lol. (The usual disclaimer: this is written for the fictional depiction from the show -- no disrespect to the real life veterans!) And I hope you enjoy, Anon, because intelligence officer x Speirs is SUCH a good concept 🕊️💖

Warnings: war, blood, guns, drinking, the usual HBOWar things

From across the pub, Ron can hear you laugh politely at something one of the other officers has just said. Reason dictates that he could take his drink and cross the room to join the crowd, but he keeps holding himself back. Instead, he takes another sip of his drink.

"Funny, I should have known that you would be a pensive drunk. But part of me hoped that you would be a loud, fun one instead." Across the table from him, Nixon smirks before taking a sip of his own drink.

Ron sits up a little straighter. "I'm not drunk."

"No, I know. I don't expect anyone will ever see the day that Ron Speirs lets down his guard in that way. I just meant that everyone else with a drink in their hand seems happy, but you don't."

There are arguments that Ron could make in response to that. But how to explain to someone as laid-back and extroverted as Lewis Nixon that he, Ron, is more of a reserved introvert who prefers people-watching to people watching? It's just his nature.

Across the pub, the group laughs again. Nixon's eyes flicker between it and Ron. "Oooh. Okay."

"What?"

Nixon leans back in his chair with a smile.

"What?"

"The new intelligence officer," Nixon says. "(Y/N). It's her, isn't it?"

Ron is thankful that, even with the alcohol that's starting to warm him from inside, he's always been good at keeping his emotions off his face, and that he's not prone to blushing. He's able to keep it cool when he asks, "What are you talking about?"

The captain in front of him just laughs. "Oh come on, Speirs. I'm an intelligence officer. It's my job to notice things. Don't deny it," he adds quickly. "Liking someone is nothing to be embarrassed about. Have you spoken to her?"

"No," Ron admits. He's not shy around girls. He's flirted before. But there's a war going on. And you're a fellow officer. There are probably rules against fraternization, and he would rather not find out what the consequence of breaking those rules is. So when Ron says he hasn't spoken to you, it's not because he's afraid to do it, but because he doesn't trust his heart not to betray him and convince him to put something above his duties in the war. Duties which, he reminds himself, he worked very hard for.

Not to mention the gnawing thought at the back of his mind that keeps telling him that he won't even survive the war.

A crease forms between Nixon's eyebrows as he mulls over Ron's short answer. "Well, are you planning to?"

"I would imagine that I'll have to speak to her at some point, as a fellow officer."

"Well, as a fellow intelligence officer, I talk to her all the time." His smile is cheeky. Even though he's inebriated -- but then again, when is he not? -- anyone could see the wheels turning in his mind as he forms a plan. "You want me to find out more about her, see if she likes anyone? You know, like a wingman?"

Ron almost scoffs. Studying at an all boys military school growing up deprived him of certain childhood experiences, but from what he heard his older sisters say about crushes and public school drama, this seems a bit like some silly high school romance idea.

"Gathering intelligence on a fellow intelligence officer," he muses instead. "That doesn't seem too smart, somehow."

Nixon twists his glass in his hand, eyebrows drawn as he looks towards you across the pub. "Don't worry, Ron. I'll figure something out."

Sometimes it's easier not to argue with someone who's drunk. Sometimes it's easier to let them think that they've won, and then be grateful in the morning when it becomes clear that they've forgotten everything from the night before.

"Sure thing." Ron downs the rest of his glass and stands, offering Nixon a nod before he heads off across the pub, straight for the door.

But behind him, a slow smile has started to creep across Nixon's face as he watches his fellow officer go. If Ron thought that he would get out of this with ease, he was sorely mistaken; it doesn't pay to underestimate Lewis Nixon when he sets his mind to something.

The muggy English morning clings to you as you make your way to headquarters. If you had to spend the day inside dealing with meetings and briefings, at least it was such an overcast one -- it would be a shame to waste a good day.

Inside, work is already in full swing as people dart about with coffee and paperwork, trying to set things straight before any of the morning's meetings. Sliding between people, you manage to grab a mug and fill it up with coffee.

"Ah, there you are (Y/N)!" As you take your first sip of your drink, the crowd parts and Nixon makes his way over to you, smiling broadly despite the early hour.

You offer him a salute, but he waves it off -- he might be an officer, but most of the time, the formalities don't bother him. It's nice to have someone like him in this new place to show you the ropes.

Nixon tilts his head, motioning for you to follow him. "I was hoping you would be in soon. We just received some very exciting orders, and I thought that you would be perfect for the job, if you're interested."

"Well I guess that depends. During Basic, I had higher ups convince us that scrubbing the latrine was very exciting, but personally, I don't think I would be too interested in doing it ever again."

The dark-haired man laughs as he leads you into a small office. He pushes some files aside to make room for his own coffee cup as he sits down behind the desk. "How would you feel about getting out of this stuffy building and out into the field?"

"Like you?" You ask. Some people preferred working the indoor intelligence jobs, but it had always been obvious from the way you looked longingly towards the door whenever other officers left their meetings that you would much rather be heading out to work intelligence head-on.

Nixon nods, his own smile growing as he watches your face light up. "It just so happens that we need a new intelligence officer for one of the companies. You'd get to be out in the field, and we could coordinate orders and intelligence between our companies. Now I know that it's not scrubbing the latrine, but it sounds pretty exciting to me." He raises his eyebrows. "Are you interested?"

"Of course."

"Wonderful. You'll be assigned to Dog Company, and working with their lieutenant."

Behind you, the door opens and shuts quickly as someone else enters the room, offering Nixon a salute.

"Ah, and here he is now," Nixon announces before you can even turn to see who has just come in. "(Y/N), I would like for you to meet Lieutenant Ronald Speirs -- the man you'll be working with in Dog Company."

Service before self, Ron keeps reminding himself whenever he's around you. Although it's getting harder to ignore the feeling that invades his chest whenever he looks at you.

But even with the constant mantra running through the back of his mind, it's become so easy to be around you. At first he hadn't been sure how he would feel about working so closely with an intelligence officer, but now it's hard for him to remember a time when you weren't around. You were never daunted by his demeanor, and something about the way you approached him -- or approached anything, for that matter -- impressed him. It didn't take long for him to learn to let walls down around you. It's refreshing; he feels like he's able to take off a mask that he didn't even know he had been wearing since the war had started.

Service before self, he thinks the first time you make him laugh. Service before self -- when he realizes how adorable you look when you're puzzling over reports, eyebrows furrowed and tapping a pen to a rhythm that only you can hear. Service before self -- when he glances at you during an officer's meeting and sees that you've been looking at him, only to quickly glance away when your eyes meet. Service before self -- the night that neither of you can sleep and he finds himself telling you his fondest memories of traveling to Scotland with his parents. Service before self -- a few days later after a skirmish, when the two of you have finished checking on the men and are checking in with each other, standing close, hearts beating fast; another step closer, your head tilting, and then him asking, "Can I - ?" Service before --

Self. Selfish? Ron wonders as your lips crash together in the long anticipated kiss. No. Not selfish; just a rearranging of priorities: you before him. You before anything and everything.

Even men made of legends and rumors can have trouble jumpstarting their day. Especially at three in the morning when he has been woken up by someone knocking on his door, announcing that he is needed for an urgent meeting.

Ron is good about waking up, being alert, being able to function. That doesn't mean that he likes it. He pours himself a cup of coffee as soon as he gets to headquarters, the smell of the morning elixir helping to coax his senses into action as he makes his way back to the office where he hears voices.

"And we're sure it has to be Easy?" He would know your voice anywhere.

"I wouldn't trust anyone else with this," Colonel Sink replies, voice just as action-ready as ever. "But the question is, who?"

"A good shot like Shifty Powers would be ideal," Winters says. Part of Ron is glad to hear that he also sounds a bit tired -- it means that Ron is not the only officer whose normal, mortal instincts are giving him a hard time this morning. When Ron steps into the room, only the other sleepy officer seems to acknowledge his presence.

"But he doesn't speak German," you say. "Who in Easy does? Just Liebgott and Webster?"

Colonel Sink nods. "What do you think of them?"

"If I may," Nixon cuts in. "Liebgott might get too trigger happy."

"So then just Webster?"

"No, Webster and Liebgott would balance each other out, I think."

Everyone's eyes turn to you, waiting for an answer.

"I know them both. I trust them both."

"But?" The colonel asks, sensing something in your voice.

You bite your lip, your eyes darting between the other officers as you think. "I think we would all know who I would prefer to come with me."

"But Speirs doesn't speak German."

At the mention of his name, Speirs' attention snaps from you to the rest of the room. If he had felt a step behind when he entered the room, now he feels like everyone else has taken off running, and he's stuck behind them in the dust.

Your face falls. "I know."

"Well, I think it's settled then." Colonel Sink offers you a fatherly pat on the shoulder before turning to the door, nodding to Speirs as he passes, and then taking his leave.

The lower ranking officers visibly relax the moment he leaves, a collective sigh of relief and disappointment surging through the room.

"I'll go get Liebgott and Webster so they can be fitted and briefed," Nixon offers. His eyes catch Ron's in the doorway and he nods.

You turn, finally seeing him for the first time. In a second, you're out of your seat and bee-lining towards him. A frown tugs at your lips and darkens your eyes. "I wish it were you."

"For what?" Ron asks. "What's going on?"

"You didn't hear?"

He shakes his head, watching your frown grow deeper with every second.

"I've been chosen to infiltrate the German line to gather intelligence."

Ron has never seen anyone look at themselves with as much hatred as Liebgott does when he puts on the German uniform and sees himself in the mirror. If Webster didn't already look like he was so uncomfortable that he wants to crawl out of his skin, then Joe's scowl and his muttering would dampen the already somber mood.

Webster swallows. "We look --"

"Like them," Liebgott spits.

"That's the point," Nixon reminds them. "It's got to be convincing. There can be absolutely no suspicion once the three of you cross their line."

The bathroom door swings open and you step out, looking just as uncomfortable as the Easy men. After seeing you in your paratrooper uniform the entire war, seeing you dressed like a German nurse is almost enough to take Ron off-guard -- which means that it will convince the Germans.

You balk at yourself in the mirror. "This feels . . ."

"Disgusting?" Liebgott offers. "Unnatural? Disagreeable? Excruciating?"

Webster lets out a low whistle. "Those are some big words, Lieb."

It's obvious that he's trying to lighten the mood a little, but Liebgott's scowl only deepens. "Not everyone needs a college degree to have a wide vocabulary, Web."

"Let's review one more time," Nixon suggests before the two have the chance to turn their spat ugly.

"We cross the German line," you say. "If anyone asks, we were POWs who escaped and are trying to find our company. We find their headquarters, take the maps of their routes to see where they're going next, and make it back here as quickly and safely as we can."

Nixon nods. "Good." He hands his men some convincing looking documents that will back up their story. He fixes Liebgott with a firm look. "Before you go, Winters wants to talk to you."

Everyone knows that he's going to be getting a warning about what will happen if he gets trigger happy while on the other side of the line, but for is sake, Webster heads out with him to receive a similar warning, even though no one is worried about bookish, thoughtful Webster acting impulsively.

Which leaves you and Ron alone.

"Hey." You nudge his shoulder, something that's not quite a smile pulling at your mouth. "Don't worry about me. I've got this. We've got this."

Ron nods. "I know. I just wish I were the one going with you. I would feel a whole lot better about the whole thing."

"Me too. But the war won't always let us get what we want."

"Don't say that." You're referring to the mission, but it makes him think of his own belief that he won't make it through the war. It's fine for him to think so pessimistically, he reasons, but you shouldn't have to. The war hasn't always allowed him what he wants -- hell, life in general hasn't -- but he's stubborn enough that he's going to at least try to make things go his way. He suddenly knows how Orpheus felt when he determined to bring Eurydice back from the underworld.

You glance at the door that the other men left through, making sure that there isn't anyone watching, and then you take his hand. "I'll see you when I get back."

"I'll be waiting as close to the line for you as I can."

"I know you will."

And then you kiss him, putting self over service one last time.

The first thing that Ron hears is the heavy footsteps and the panting of multiple people trying to catch their breath. He automatically raises his rifle, just in case.

The first thing he sees is the blood covering the front of your nurse uniform and staining your hands. Your hands, which are white-knuckling a small stack of folders, but all he can focus on is the blood. Beside you, he only just registers that Webster and Liebgott are okay -- sweaty and blood splattered, but alive and back on the American side of the line.

No one is behind you. At least you weren't pursued.

Ron swings his rifle across his back and is by your side in a second, his hands automatically turning into those of a medic, searching you for a wound. He takes in a breath, ready to call out for Doc Roe, praying he'll be in earshot when you catch his hands, leaving streaks of red behind.

"Ron."

"Where did they get you?" He can't see any sort of entry wound, but he continues to search anyway. "(Y/N), where were you hit?" He doesn't ask his most important question: who do I have to kill?

"Ron." You still his hands. "It's not mine."

He freezes. "What?"

"It's not mine."

Webster is quick to explain, "Someone in their headquarters got suspicious about her uniform. They asked why she was wearing American shoes. We tried to explain that they were given to her when we were POWs, but one of the commanders got angry, saying that she should never have accepted anything from the enemy."

"He started asking too many questions, wouldn't let us leave," you pick up, squeezing Ron's hands so he won't feel how they shake. "We did what we had to do, and we got out with what we could."

"Oh thank God." In his relief, even with Webster and Liebgott right there, he cups your face and kisses you like you've been separated for eternity. You over him. You before the world.

"Oh." He's vaguely aware of Liebgott and Webster sharing a look. "Well this explains quite a lot."

"I'm okay." You rest your forehead against Ron's, both of you breathing heavily. It's quiet, but you huff a small, teasing laugh. "I'd have hoped that you would have more faith in me than that, Ron."

"You know I do," he assures you. "I'm just relieved, is all." And then, for good measure, he kisses you again. This, he thinks, is only appropriate -- it's what Orpheus would have done had Eurydice returned to him.

2. Do you read/reread your own fics? honestly, not that much? it depends a little on how i feel about them. if i'm satisfied with them, i might. but often rereading my own stuff makes me realise there's a bunch of small stuff i would like to change with hindsight, so it's easier not to. 😂

What's your favorite fic that you've written? damn. i guess it might be some of my earliest terror stuff, anchor up to me or and stay awhile. personally i don't really... have favourites very much, i see good bits and flawed bits in everything, but those were fun to write and people were extremely kind about them when i posted them, so that was a lot of fun overall!

What's a fic idea you've had that you will never write? so many. most of them, probably. that said i don't like to fully give up on an idea! but i have several fitzier gdocs sitting around that'll never go anywhere, including: half-epistolary modern au where jfj sends postcards to francis from around the world (initially to annoy him) over years while francis dates, gets engaged to, then splits up with sophia, and james globetrots to avoid his own loneliness, until they gradually become friends and then get together

he steps outside and tilts his face up into the chill breeze. the night is clear, the air sharp with a late january cold snap. overhead, millions of pinheads of light flicker and twinkle against the black, occasionally winking out of existence as a cloud drifts across the heavens, carried by winds far stronger than the gentle stirring of air which cools his cheeks. the grounds are quiet, deep and dark and still in the early evening. a dusting of snow covers everything. it is new, and as yet unbroken by any human tread, reflecting the light of the moon like a fresh sheet of paper. against it the leafless trees and the shadows cast by the light streaming from the windows behind him are black as pitch.

his hands soon begin to ache – he has not brought his gloves. he puts them into his pockets. it is not terribly cold – when he glanced at it, the thermometer which he has had mounted beside the window read 23 degrees. unusual for england, certainly, but not true cold. nothing to speak of, really. his feet begin to go numb in his shoes, but it is not too bad; not yet.

idly, he picks out orion, then auriga, following it down into taurus. canis major, half hidden by a tree, is yet easy, sirius clear as a beacon. turning toward the north, there is ursa major, then the northern cross – cassiopeia takes him a few moments, but he finds it at last, almost directly overhead.

are we looking at the same stars?

Your drarry fic series 'Arthur and the Lust Leaks' is seriously one of my all time favourites, they're just so hilarious! I love the dynamic between Daphne and Draco, Arthur (of course!🐣) and the general concept is just wonderful on its own XD

The concept of magic folk getting "Lust Leaks" when they're extremely horny is actually GENIUS!! Like what, how on earth did you come up with such a clever idea!?!?

My question is how would you feel about others using the concept? So long as you're credited for the inspiration, of course!

How I came up with the Lust Leaks. When I joined the DTH fest, I'd only published one drarry fic that I'd written non-stop and obsessively over a few weeks; a fic which had poured out of me in a torrent. With The Full Monty I was more deliberate. I had a prompt, which gave me a direction to follow, but I wanted to do more. Now, my favourite author is Astolat and one of the things I love about her work is that she always has some cool magical element in her stories. I'm a fantasy author at heart, and her inventiveness and worldbuilding truly resonates with me. So, with this new drarry fic of mine, I wanted to create a magical element that would be new and interesting and would fit with canon.

I thought of developmental stages for children. How magical kids' magic appears when they're young. I can't remember the exact age it's supposed to happen, but in my mind it was linked to the stage where kids develop ego (around age three) (ego meaning the psychological theory, not selfishness). And then I thought what's another big stage of development (adolescence, lots of hormones) and what happens then? (sexual maturity). And what if, during that tumultuous time of their life, their magic goes haywire too?

I can't remember if I came up with the concept first and used it in the story or if I came up with something embarrassing happening to Draco and decided to dig into that idea and develop it. Either way, it went: idolise astolat-> magic appears when toddlers turn into children -> adolescents have raging hormones and this could affect their magic-> lust leaks when horny.

I wanted to write more in that 'verse myself. Back in spring 2017, I'd started writing a Lust Leaks Hogwarts-era fic inspired by a throwaway line in the fic about Blaise and how everything he touched grew wings and flew. I also began a sequel of the Full Monty with the title Saving Arthur. But I had a few big fests coming up and a birthday fic to write, and they got abandoned.

Finally, to answer your question: If you wish to use the concept in your fanfiction, then I'd be happy for you to do so. The credit would be much appreciated, and perhaps even a link to Full Monty for anyone curious to see the origin? That'd be brilliant.

However, this is only for fanfiction. If you're interested in using the concept for original fiction or any kind of work commercially available, then my answer is no. But I'm assuming you want to write drarry/ HP fic :)

Honestly I'm not much of a drinker. Or rather I'm not a fancy drinks person. I don't tend to make drinks if I can avoid it. I'm also not someone with a refined palate or the budget to have special occasion drinks.

But my daily drink is coffee and tea, because I'm basic, both with milk, coffee with a spoon of sugar. I also enjoy (lactose-free) cold milk. Used to enjoy regular milk as a kid, before the Curse took me. I have been cutting back on sodas and similar stuff, partly because they're unhealthy and partly because I'm at the stage of adulthood where sugary drinks just taste bad lol.

My special occasion drinks used to be [unnamed but popular cheap coffee producer] and currently Redbull. Which is bad for you, and frankly caffeine makes me sleepy, so why do I drink that crap? Well, it tastes good, esp on a rly hot day. Idk what the taste reminds me of but it's something super familiar from my childhood. So it's like a forbidden treat. Slight TMI but caffeine helps my digestion a lot as well so there's that I guess.

I'm also a SPARKLING WATER enjoyer >:3c Though it has to be mineral water and have a fun fruity flavor. That's probably the healthiest daily drink I have. My current one is a Swedish brand with raspberry and pomegranate flavor. It's like soda that doesn't kill you!

Then there's an involuntary-special-occasion drink which I drink whenever I'm sick with a cold or flu, which is hot milk with honey and butter. It doesn't do anything but taste nice and warm your little heart. (Though it helps with a sore throat.)

I also enjoy chamomile tea. Generally most teas I'm fine with. Green tea with lemon and honey? Woah dude.

I also make hot chocolate/cocoa (idk the difference), though I spice it up with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice scream when I make it. (I melt the ice cream in the microwave, so the drink is thick and creamy but still hot.) I have never and will never use water for that shit so it's always milk. It's a huge treat drink cuz it's fatty and sugary and I only drink it like ... once a week maybe? But it's one of those I grab when I finish some big assignment or task and just wanna sit back and watch a Youtube video.

I had another Ghibli-esque drink I used to make with cinnamon and honey, but I cannot remember the recipe unforch and it was ages ago I last made it :(

I'm pretty sure I started writing personal little fics on the family computer when I was a little duckling, but for Miraak x LDB in particular, since that's my main Thing?

in late 2021, I saw the Miraak follower mod and a few pieces of fanart, and then the writing bug bit me so fiercely that before I knew just what had hit me, I was several thousand words into what would become the very, very first draft of i fear no fate's first chapter! it felt really good, actually, because I'd been going through a period of low mood during which I just had no creative energy whatsoever, and then all of a sudden, I was writing again. so i fear no fate holds an even more special place in my heart for being the thing that got me creating once more... 🥰

🐇 - do you prefer writing original characters, reader inserts, or a mix of both?

without a doubt, original characters! I've never tried writing a reader-insert (or even a self-insert, for that matter, even though I'm sure that would be really fun!), but I feel like there's a lot more creative freedom over an original character. I get to decide their appearances, their backstories, and in general, what's in-character for them or not!

🕯️- on a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you enjoy editing? why is that?

it's kind of tricky for me to give this one a number! my writing process is like this: roughest draft possible -> more fleshed out rough draft -> even more fleshed out draft -> and then I go through and write a version I'm happy with line by line, so the finished product still differs from the last draft I write and there's occasionally some surprises in there.

in effect, I edit as I write, and as I really enjoy the writing (I think of it as painting with words...) I'll give that maybe an 8!

🏜️ - what's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?

CHEAT ANSWER: ANY. I love seeing that someone has enjoyed my work enough to want to say something about it, I love knowing it's affected somebody on some small level, I love knowing that words I've written have provided someone a little relief, a little comfort, a little happiness, a little angst where applicable.

my absolute favourite, though, is the long comments that quote individual lines, theorise, and pick up on exactly the little things I snuck in (essentially the kind you leave, Gigi)! they're the ones I endeavour to leave whenever I read someone's fic, too... 😊

🍦 - name three good things about a character you hate

okay, so, he's not a TES character, and I used to like the book series, but I cannot stand Rhysand from ACOTAR. nonetheless: his court has a cool aesthetic, he has a nice name, and I think it's neat that he has bat wings. (talk about damned with faint praise, huh?) 😤

No but like, when it comes to making friends irl the best advice I can give you is to surround yourself with like-minded people (like join a group with a shared interest or something) and don't be afraid to be bold. I can assure you, most people want friends and will only be relieved if you offer them your friendship yourself. I recently made a friend when we were having a conversation and she complained about how she didn't have many friends and I just said "hey, we can be friends!" And that was that. She happily agreed and we have been friends ever since. 😊 Obviously this just works if the people you talk too are good people but you shouldn't bother trying to make friends with people that aren't. Hope this helps <3

This is about to be fun. (Long post ahead!)

▪︎ Okay so, I downloaded tumblr all the way back in 2018? It was around the Reputation era. Taylor Swift used to be VERY active on here. So 14 year old me thought that I could get noticed by her...and that's how I found out about tumblr. I stopped using it after a few days because I honestly didn't understand it at all. Then comes BSD- I wanted to read 55 minutes and the fan translation was only available on tumblr so that's the reason I downloaded tumblr once again 😭

Eventually I started using it as a space to share my thoughts on BSD and other anime I watched and the rest is history.

▪︎ Earlier this year, in May, I think? I bought a tablet on a whim cause it was on sale for a reasonable price. For quite some time I wanted to draw something BSD related (whenever i find a show/movie i really like, i want to draw it) and I guess you could say that BSD got me into digital art :)

▪︎ Well...honestly, I'm probably my own harshest critique so going off of that, I think I'm decent enough as a beginner but I could definitely be a LOT better. There are so many great artists out there and once I start comparing myself to them I feel like there's so much I can learn in order to be as good as them.

There are so many days where I lack motivation to draw and the drawing ideas keep pouring into my head but I don't feel like drawing 😭. I honestly just let things be until I eventually do get the sudden urge/motivation to draw.

▪︎ Oh boy, let me tell you. I LOVE extreme rides. I love amusement parks in general. They're like my favourite place to hangout.

BSD is a close second- even though it has quite some deux ex machina and convenient writing, the character writing remains unmatched. BSD does characterization VERY WELL and that is what I love most about it. It's also my current obsession.

Lazyflower48 was the username assigned to me by reddit and in true lazyflower fashion, I was too lazy to change it and used it as a username on all my accounts. As for Nightshade, Dazai uses belladonna to refer to women which means "beautiful woman" in Italian but it's also another name for a poisonous plant called 'deadly nightshade' (his mind lol) so that is how I got this name.

▪︎ Oooh I like both. Though, I prefer art as a hobby and career wise, I'm more of a science/maths person. The thing is, math can actually be quite fun when you understand it. However, it is truly hell when you don't understand it.

Okay, jokes aside, I have never really given this question much thought so I don't really have any specific type. And I don't currently have a crush on anyone but i guess my ideal would be someone with a good personality. A guy who is understanding, compassionate, kind, good sense of humour, empathetic- just a nice person overall, physically- taller than me but not too tall cause I'm kinda short

▪︎ I can be both depending on the company. Sometimes I talk a LOT and sometimes I prefer to just listen.

▪︎ Dazai, he's just so drawable 😍 Okay yes I do love drawing him but mainly, I like drawing sceneries and nature. I want to draw complex backgrounds with a lot of details. Hopefully one day, I can achieve that level of skill.

▪︎ Nope i have not and I don't know if I ever will.

▪︎ Ooof I get VERY nervous while presentating something. I just tell myself "let's just get this over with. I won't have to worry about this once it's done and then i can go home and do whatever i want (sleep 💀)"

i had a whole crew of pikmin ocs who were a part of the S.S. Harmony, they were gonna be SUCH a nuisance to everyone they ran into...

i thought about making a rescue corps oc for fun. hrmm! maybe...

AHHH thank you!! i've seen a shocking number tags and asks from people saying that I'm apparently the reason they like Dingo now? and i have to say that is so mind boggling to me, because when i first played Pikmin 4 I didn't care about him at all!! he was a nothing sandwich to me... but then i drew him a few times... and started thinking... and then things went downhill and now i REALLY like him...

(referring to this post) i think dingo is better when he's withered

(referring to this comic) I HEAR YOU... I HEAR YOU... but if any tear at all would cause oxygen poisoning, i wouldn't be able to draw them all battered and cool :(

i imagine that there's a seal around the neck in case there's a breach in the suit's lining. so as long as their backpack (life-support) works and is connected to their helmets, then they can breathe✨

(referring to this post) Olimar would be horrified because he knows Louie, and if he sees that note there's only one thing it could mean! his coworker tried to eat pom!! if pom hasn't been outed as wraith and Olimar is questioning her, she'd just say Louie bit her and then refuse to answer any follow up questions 💖

Shepherd would be... concerned. she might think they have a weird fling going on and louie's talking about a kiss? she probably wouldn't realize Louie quite literally means he ate something from pom. oops!

that's a really good question... I'll be honest, with a lot of the "when and how did x happen" questions, there's not an official timeline or anything; the pom wraith au is sort of an umbrella with a bunch of different stories and what-ifs underneath it. although there was one story where louie does find out her secret!

louie and pom end up bridging their differences (with the help of olimar), and become good friends while pom is continuing the rescue effort. then there's a very unfortunate incident where pom and louie are away from the base and they're attacked... pom has to reveal herself to defend them and she accidentally hurts louie :(

its fine though, louie doesn't care what pom is. they're both freaks in his mind and that's all that really matters. he does end up having to defend pom from olimar (who's been made vindictive through his trauma with the plasm wraith) sometime later!! here's some older art:

me too! they do NOT get along... louie's kinda pissed at her for chasing him around on PNF404 and beating him in dandori battles when he just wants to stay there and vibe. pom meanwhile doesn't understand him, he pisses her off too! she likes olimar a lot, and as an outsider it looks like louie doesn't appreciate the friendship olimar offers him. to someone who's trying to understand and participate in this whole friendship business, she thinks he's ungrateful and weird. they do not get along!! at the beginning at least...

that's a fun thought! he would probably be able to sense that something is off about her. but he'd also probably just think "she's weird like me." honestly, the whole wraith thing doesn't really matter much to him -- the only thing it changes is that pom can now offer her tendrils as a skewer for his cooking at any time and location!

i think i'm gonna call her rose wraith!! and ohh, i didn't know that... i was just gonna call her rose wraith since she has a rose head. i'm creative i promise

(referring to this post i think) AHHH hehe... honestly, when Pom first learns about Dingo's fear of blood, she only tries to keep him from it because it's really annoying dealing with your coworker when they faint. he's like a sack of potatoes when he's knocked out. but yes, as they become actual friends pom will (subtly) do her best to keep blood away from dingo. it's fortunate she doesn't have any!

she might not get phobias, but she understands what its like to have a crippling fear, so she's empathetic!

rain; unprocessed. a really unique sound and incredible writing from the whole band but id be lying if i didnt say the guitar and vocals were very attention grabbing to me! an emotional pick but one im really fond of. also theres gays in the video and thats a win for me, even if its a tragic song and narrative! (cheating but you should also see deadrose. i go crazy for the video every time)

stranger things; periphery. im insane for peripherys sound overall actually but this is imo one of their most fun to listen to, interesting songs. many different parts that still manage to stay cohesive. i think the shifts between the FUCKING METAL and the pretty parts are really good. fun lyrics. i follow the drummer on youtube. misha too. the guitarists are insane??? drift compatible. chef kiss very good

king; tesseract. another one i go insane for, and also really love to pop on the stereo when i hop in the car. im not kidding i turn it up all the way sometimes until i can literally feel my bones rattling JFJSKG its very good. another band absolutely WILD at shifting smoothly between these absolutely gorgeous pieces and FUCKING METAL... and another instance where i really love the drummer lmfaooo he does these really cool polyrhythms i just. dark eternal night; dream theater. ive been listening to them my whole life but i didnt get brain cells to recognize it until like... octavarium? first live concert was the album that this song comes off of and motherfucker i set the bar high for everyone else forever LMFAO dream theater scratches the brain like truly nothing else. mike portnoy might not be in the band anymore but im so glad he was here for this album because the sound is perfect.

euclid; sleep token. i had to add sleep token because i saw that you listen to them at least a little bit. when i heard the ending of euclid i cried. this whole album is good. preceded by take me back to eden? this song hits like a goddamn train, but so does the rest of the album. a lot of variation in it! but thats what prog is about 😭 euclid changed my life and my brain chemistry, forever ascending over the fact it reprises my first BIG favorite song from them at the end. annihilated me. will do it again.

First impression

I don't really remember because it was so long ago 😅 But it was the first introduction to the character I had and I'm sure it was something along the lines of "Wow! This guy is really cool! He's sort of like a blind Nightwing. Plus, this guy isn't too bad on the eyes." 😏

Impression now

He is my precious, Catholic-guilt-ridden, cinnamon roll! 🥰 While he can be a bit morally preachy at times (I wonder why), he tries so hard to do what is right and to protect his friends. And he is a lot more sarcastic than I originally expected, which we all know I love! 🤗

Favorite moment

I guess I'll go with the one most people likes and say the hallway fight scene from season 1. Not only is it an amazing fight scene, but it really shows off his skills in a way you hadn't seen up to that point. A close second is the flashback to him and Foggy in college (Avacados at Law).

Idea for a story

I would love to do another part of my It Was a Long Time Ago…. series, but it wasn't very popular and I lost motivation for it 🥺😭

Unpopular opinion

I still haven't seen She-Hulk so I can't speak on his and Jennifer's relationship, but I am not a fan of any of his pairings on the show. Electra is the best if I had to pick, but he is too focused on his mission and his need to protect others to truly be able to maintain a healthy relationship.

Favorite relationship

Him and Foggy. Those two together are so funny and sweet and I love any time the two of them are on screen together!! 🥰

Favorite headcanon

This isn't a headcanon as much as something I am stealing directly from the comics that I think they should make canon in the MCU. Spider-Man only discovers Daredevil is blind after they are fighting Electro together. Electro shoots an electrical bolt so bright no one could see it without being affected. So he surmises that Daredevil is blind. Spider-Man doesn't believe it so Electro asks Daredevil what color his costume is.... which Daredevil obviously can't answer 😂 So now both Spider-Man and Electro know the truth.

1- Replying to the answer about college. I am doing a degree on English Studies on a pretty goth city, my faculty is right in front of a cool cathedral. I would love to have you as a classmate hehehe Plus everyone here goes out at night to party more than studying so you wouldn't have that much pressure and plenty of people to choose from. Though I offer myself for some blood donations, type O negative (I'm sorry I had to to the joke, and it's truly my blood type), the best on town, 10/10 I tasted it myself (I bite my tongue on accident way too much)

2- About the... Pregnancy and Gabrielle comments... Why is everyone so fucking disgusting. Being anonymous doesn't give you the right to be disrespectful and rude and gross, and they should feel guilty about it and try to do better. [Inside rol] People change and everyone should have the chance to be better and learn, even if you said unfortunate things or something that could be misinterpreted, you can rectify your words. [Outside RP] Why the actual fuck would you think you have the right to tell a person if their own way of doing RP and interpretating a character is wrong or right???? There's someone behind this account that has the right to be treated with respect and choose if they want to act one way or another. This account is fun, it's fanmade, it's not Canon, it's whatever the one behind it wants it to be, and we should be grateful they are doing such a good job at answering all these questions.

Onto the latter half of this discussion; the anonymity of the person making those crude comments is very strange and I am still grappling with what they found so terribly offensive to begin with. I don't believe that I have done anything poorly towards anybody, and something that I find strange is the overall age of that post... it's pretty much old news!

how did you feel when you first started out writing fanfics for a particular fandom?

i started when i was around 9 and was very excited to share so thats what i did :] but over time i grew insecure and felt my old stuff was stupid lmao so i deleted it all off the web and then writing became a private thing for me for a very, very long time (writing like 40k, 38 chapters worth of stuff just for me 😭). i've wanted to share during my last few fandoms but never got the courage to until i got into lookism/viral hit !

(well, actually, i did share some writing during my "obey me!" phase but it was just text convos lol)

naturally, i was nervous putting my writing out in the world again esp bc the last time i did was when i like 11-12, and i was 16 when i wanted go public with my writing again 😔 im very glad i pushed myself to tho, bc its basically been a year now and i've had a blast!

i never imagined so many people would like my silly writing, enough to send in requests T_T 💕💖

have you always been passionate about writing?

kind of,,? i really only got into it because of fanfiction lol but i did consider becoming an author for like. a week of my life sjdhwhdj so really it's just a hobby i do since im the walking definition of "speaks little but thinks a lot"

gotta put thoughts down somewhere yknow? and at the end of the day, writing to me is just what art is to me; it's for fun and to express myself. sure, i wanna get better at both, but if my stuff turns out "objectively" bad, at least i know i had fun with it :'D

(that's my philosophy with art in general; make "bad" art!! have fun!!! enjoy life!!! i hate comparison/competitive things!!!! lets all just have a nice time being kind to each other!!!!!)

creative writing is very cool tho and i have a bunch of ocs i'd love to write stories for, but the artist in me is saying i want to do them webtoon style ;_;

what is your method to know a character better so as to make your works seem close to their original personality?

going to be honest, im not the best person to ask for this 😭 im the world's most casual writer and i take my "just have fun with ur art" thing very seriously;;

i.e. i just keep note of how a character acts throughout a story, characterize them along the way, and then use that as my base for any writing i do of them 😭

um. i also (re)read fandomwiki pages of them, if any, to double check for stuff 😭😭😭 occasionally i rewatch/reread moments of them in their stories when i want to look for something specific but otherwise it's just me going "hm would this character do this?", comparing it to my base, and reacting accordingly!

other times i straight up go "yeah they probably wouldnt do this BUT it would be cute so im going to do it 😍"

so, if nothing works, just let urself be self indulgent <3 unless u do want to take ur writing more seriously than i do, then uh yeah it would be much better for u to look up advice from people who take their writing more seriously ^_^"
