Lots of excitement was shared when Frank wheeler was elected as the new president of the United States. He seemed to have great ambitions and an incredible spirit. But just a few months after he was elected, he put a new law into place. Every single American over the age of 18 must consume at least 5000 calories per day or they will be executed. He implanted every single American with a chip in the back of their throat that counted their calories. If the requirement had not been met, it would start leaking a poisonous substance into your system immediately. Effectively killing the person. This wasn’t all though. All gyms and any form of exercise equipment became illegal. Sidewalks were replaced with conveyor belts to prevent people from burning calories. Every year, you are required to gain at least 25 pounds. For every pound over this goal, the government will send a $100 check to your home.

as expected, all hell broke loose. People began rioting and begged for the law to be reversed. The smart people didn’t hesitate to start stuffing their face. Fast food restaurants had their busiest days in years as people frantically raced to consume as many calories as possible. To bring in more customers, McDonald’s released the heart attack burger. It was three burger patties cooked in pure oil and fat, then there was 6 pieces of bacon, loaded fries, a mountain of cheese, and McDonald’s new secret sauce. The burger contained almost 2000 calories and people went nuts for it. Companies removed small drinks and fries and replaced them with xtra large and supersize. A supersized coke was two liters and contained almost 100 calories.

the new system quickly weeded out the protesters and the only people left were obedient, soon to be fatties. Fitness influencers became weight gain influencers. They would give tips and tricks on how to eat more and expand your stomach. New stores began to open where you would pay to be mindlessly fed by one of the employees. You could set a certain amount of calories or a certain amount of time to be stuffed. If you were really desperate, some places carried an item called a lard ball. It had exactly 5000 calories all in the size of a pill. You would take it and immediately feel like you had just stuffed yourself silly at a buffet. It was quite expensive, but for those who could afford it, it was a game changer.

after a couple years with the new law, there wasn’t a person in sight without at least a bit of a belly. Abs were a thing of the past and it was hard for new 18 year olds to let go of theirs. But they obeyed and ate till they passed out. Some people took the $100 a pound rule very seriously. With how easy it was to gain weight, some people could gain over 100 pounds and get tens of thousands of dollars. Desk jobs became popular as no one was fit enough to do much else. Jobs were now required to give multiple snack breaks to employees so they had time to stuff themselves. it was paradise. Bulging bellies in all directions, former abs were memories of the past, countless people racing to shove food down their throats to meet the limit. I think this law may stay in place forever!

Kaiju Weeks in Review (September 10-30, 2023)

I adore Godzilla Final Wars, but it's a movie with an identity crisis, unsure whether it wants to be headlining a Toho Champion Festival or mesmerizing American teenagers at a mid-aughts multiplex. @spacehunter-m's Final Wars 2004: The Year We Make Corn-Tack gives it a strong tug in the first direction, whittling the runtime down to 77 minutes and replacing most of the music and sound effects. She was inspired by Space Warriors 2000, of all things; as she put it, both films are "largely comprised of nonstop, monotonous action." As in that bizarro Ultraman compilation film, the kaiju trash-talk each other. It makes you wonder why Ryuhei Kitamura didn't at least bring back the speech bubbles from Godzilla vs. Gigan. Kaiju fan edits are rare, and this is in a class all by itself. Download it here.

Shigeru Kayama's novelizations of Godzilla (1954) and Godzilla Raids Again are out—hopefully the first of many to come. My copy only arrived on Saturday, so I haven't had the chance to read the whole thing yet, but I've made it through Godzilla. It's interesting to see Kayama, who wrote the initial treatment, take another swing at the story after the film was finished. He puts back moments like Godzilla eating a cow and attacking a lighthouse, and is also more overt with the wartime allusions. There's an incredible moment where Dr. Yamane muses that studying Godzilla and learning his secrets could be Japan's way of redeeming itself after "caus[ing] a great deal of trouble to people throughout the world." Note that these are novella-length, so much less in-depth than the novelizations of American Godzilla films you might be used to (Godzilla Raids Again is less than 80 pages). The book ends with an afterword by translator Jeffrey Angles contextualizing the tales.

Godzilla: War for Humanity continues to be a standout IDW miniseries. There's a new and very weird monster in the second issue, plus a no-nonsense Mothra (she tries to recruit Godzilla to fight Zoospora by shooting him in the back of the head and dragging him into the ocean in front of Minilla).

I've also got to mention the solicitation for another Godzilla Rivals installment, due December 20. Nola Pfau is writing, Megan Huang is illustrating.

Jen Onça is not excited to start her new, fast-paced fast-food career at Minilla Burger, but she'd much prefer a mundane day to the sudden return of Megalon! The monster brings destruction, trapping Jen in a forgotten lab deep beneath the restaurant with only the half-built form of Jet Jaguar to help her get out! She must repair the robotic defender to save herself and the city, but first she needs to escape the rubble trapping her in this tense adventure!

Yuzo the Biggest Battle in Tokyo, Yoshikazu Ishii's follow-up to Attack of the Giant Teacher, has also been picked up by SRS Cinema. No release details yet. I can't really speak to the film either, since it screened at the same time as Yumiko Shaku's panel at G-Fest, but as you can see from the poster, it's set during the pandemic.

The GAMERA -Rebirth- Gyaos has joined Godzilla Battle Line as an unusual sort of swarm unit. Your first summon of the match calls forth two sub-adults, and by the fifth summon you're sending out two sub-adults and three adults, still for four energy. They're probably the best swarm in the game, though still highly vulnerable to AOE units like Godzilla '01. I'm having fun with them in the Challenge Battles.

Notzilla, one of the sharpest kaiju comedies out there, is unexpectedly getting the graphic novel treatment. Mitch Teemley is adapting his own screenplay, with art by Zumart Putra. The comic is already finished, although I'm not clear on how folks who didn't back the Kickstarter (which wrapped on September 11) will get it. Useless trivia: the terrific cover above (one of four) is by Ben Dunn, who wrote the How to Draw Manga book I poured over in middle school.

After Troll shattered Netflix streaming records (according to Netflix), it's not super surprising that the company wants a sequel. Priority one: coming up with a title that's not Troll 2. Screenwriter Espen Aukan and director Roar Uthaug will both return.

Toy highlights of the past few weeks:

After confusing everyone by teasing its silhouette the day before April Fools', Tamashii has fully unveiled an S.H.Monsterarts Godzilla '72, a rare Showa figure from the line. It comes with two heads, one of them bloodied (see above). Due at the end of February.

After finally running out of ways to repaint their mold of Hedorah's Perfect Stage, Bandai is making a Movie Monster Series figure of the kaiju's Landing Stage. A Godzilla Store exclusive, it'll be released October 25.

After over two years, Funko is releasing a trio of Godzilla Singular Point Pops. Hopefully they go all-out with this show—it's not like there's any other plausible way for a Satomi Kanahara figure to exist.

CLONE HIGH S3 NOTES

This poster art is such eye-candy! I wish the animation budget was slightly higher so it could look this hand-made throughout. Though as someone who works on Flash shows, the production value has been high overall but nothing can compare to the unnecessary lavishness of Rough Draft Korea animating the original series. I never watched the show for shipping and last season the romances were so arbitrary and unengaging that I have no reason to expect anything. Joan and Confucius? Yeah, why not. Who cares! (I might pay attention if they had an mlm couple that aren't background characters that appear for one second)

I'm still crossing my fingers we get some more zany Scudworth B-plots that aren't getting wasted or mooning over Candide. This little snippet of them grave-robbing looks promising!

Though I'm a little disappointed that they're revisiting the Looney Tunes hijinx with Skunky-Poo. We can hope there's some new angle to it. (PITCH: Candide becomes jealous of the 'new woman' in Scudworths life, not because she's winning his heart but because SHE wants to be the one causing him grievous bodily harm)

The new writers really like writing JFK as a big golden retriever so, having him be Abe's goofy comic relief buddy could work. That's right: JFK is the new Gandhi! (A very normal sentence)

The cast list also reveals some new foster parents and school faculty which I'm super excited for. Last season had such a myopic focus on the leads that it felt like they existed in a vacuum. I hope some of the supporting characters get to, y'know, speak this season.

Sighting a Salvador Dali clone almost makes up for Baby Patrick Swayze. Is the name the whole joke? Because it *kinda* rhymes? I refuse to screencap the creature but me and my friends would beat that thing with hammers, I can tell you that much. And we all agree this is the last season, right? I'm shocked such a niche cult show didn't get shelved indefinitely but Zaslav's reign of terror is characterized by writing shows off seemingly at random. Maybe the sheer clout of Lord and Miller got this reboot made and released? The crew seem to indicate the shows future depends on how many people watch the show on premiere day through an app only available in the United States. Yikes! 'Max' is doing the bare-minimum of legally required advertising but the audience still appears to be a handful of die-hard fans who complain about every creative decision the reboot has made so far.

Here's looking forward to February 1st!

Spark The Electric Jester 3:

Man I was holding off on spoilers for MONTHS until the holidays when I could get this game, and I only beat it in the beginning of the year and well…HOLY SHIT I didn’t know I needed existentialism in my funny little platformer- Gameplay is INSANELY solid, like honestly some of my favorite platforming controls I have ever used! Music is top notch as well!

Nier Automata: The End of YoRHa Edition:

Holy fuck how did I manage to avoid spoilers for this game for YEARS??? That ending was beautiful~ (Yes I did do all the main endings)

Chrono Trigger: I should preface this by saying I did modify this game a tiiiiny bit to have PS4 button prompts and fixing the Classic filter. Other than that, I can see why it’s a lot of people’s favorite RPG! Short enough in case you wanna replay it, and the foundation of the NG+ system definitely helps incentivize replays! Can’t wait to play Chrono Cross!

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII:

I binged both FFXIII and FFXIII-2 during October and November of last year, but took a short break to avoid burnout. And well, yeah this game was neat! I will admit though that since there’s no way to REWIND time like in Majora’s Mask that I got INSANELY stressed out but that didn’t take away from the sweet release of seeing these characters I love finally get their well-deserved happy ending :)

Mega Man Zero:

I put this one off and on throughout like 2 years because I just wasn’t good at it, but it taught me a VERY good lesson in perseverance! Really excited to play Zero 2!

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion: ZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK ;w; Story was pretty…alright for the most part, but I couldn’t feel attached to any of the original characters :/ Honestly my eyes were on Zack just…being real with what’s going on. I may not feel bad for when people he cares about dies, but I can EASILY emphasize with him because I know that HE knows them. Knows them more than we ever will know. Also the gameplay and music are fucking stellar.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes:

I should preface all of this by saying I don’t remember what order I beat all of these in lmao. Anyways my route was Golden Wildfire and the story for it is such an improvement over its equivalent in Three Houses!!! I love Shez so much as a protagonist even if his outfit is a tiny bit dumb.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker

Man I really wanted to like this. And like, music and area wise I loved it! But the story feels…It just doesn’t feel like the finality for all we’ve done so far. I could not care at all for Meteion because they spend approximately like 20 or 30 minutes making us meet them and then throwing us IMMEDIATELY into the angst like, no. This isn’t even a case of “Well I don’t care but I can understand why others do” NO THE GAME MAKES YOUR WOL FEEL BAD AS WELL, MEANING YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO CARE! NO! I DON’T! I was able to at least pretend a little bit to roleplay as needed but man. At least Footfalls and the post-endwalker dungeon themes kick ass though. (Warrior of Light’s name for me is M’bahlon Tia)

Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe

SO CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE I love kirby games sm and this is no exception. REALLY loved how hard the Magolor Epilogue got at certain points though that was great.

Fire Emblem Awakening

I CAN SEE WHY THIS SAVED THE FRANCHISE WHEN IT CAME OUT!! It’s a REALLY good game! I went with the default male Robin settings since that’s what’s in Smash Bros. And man just, everything about this game is AMAZING!!! Sadly cannot see myself replaying it anytime. I could just load my endgame save and grind out support conversations with other characters or do that…new game plus thing I think it was?

Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space: Bound Wills and the Hollow Puppeteer

I did this event initially back when it came out (and in fact is the main reason why I played the game in the first place) But I got horrible units and died super often, and revived every chance I got. But losing my save data and getting a better unit HEAVILY boosted my chances of getting through the event and man, it was a lot of fun! I love seeing tiny mona :3 JUST LOOK AT HOW SMOL HE IS AAAAAAAAA

Mighty Gunvolt Burst:

I had a lot of fun with this one! I used one of the DLC characters (I think they’re the Zero character from Mighty Number 9 but) it’s a great romp!

Final Fantasy XV

“Walk tall…my friends.” I got this game YEARS ago but haven’t truly delved into it recently. And well… That ending got to me. It really did. The gameplay took me so long to get used to (especially since I had been more used to the more refined gameplay of Final Fantasy 7 Remake 3 years prior) Music is amazing, love the characters! I just wish the other episodes were finished and weren’t just put in a novel :/

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

HOLY FUCK THIS GAME WAS SO COOL. I always heard like, right, about how good this game was but I figured it was just nostalgia talking for people. NOPE. As someone who’s first paper mario game was super (never beat it, I was a really stupid child) and then played Sticker Star (Again, very stupid child but also that game is bullshit because everything is so obtuse and it sucks) But this? This was a big breath of fresh air. I am so excited to go back and play 64 and Super!!!

The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Honestly? Way better than I was expecting. You can FEEL nintendo had a strangle-hold on the movie’s production though from how Chris Pratt in the final movie actually fucking voice acts somewhat (it’s a start), there’s no bad Illumination tropes, Peach is a dragoon, Toad and Bowser easily steal the show, and just, ALL THE REFERENCES WOW. EVEN THE NEWER THINGS. I didn’t see any Paper Mario or Mario & Luigi references though which makes me sad. I hope that if there’s a sequel it’s actually better and doesn’t fall into any traps movie sequels usually do, maybe even say if the other kingdoms from Mario Odyssey are in this universe (and maybe Isle Defino) The movie definitely could have used an extra 20 minutes spread throughout to add more to the main group dynamic.

Mega Man Zero 2

OH MY GOD THIS WAS SO MUCH BETTER BALANCE-WISE HOLY SHIT Cyber-elves requirements to be leveled up were MASSIVELY lowered and the enemy AI isn’t as overly aggressive! Loved the music too, especially Departure and the ending theme which was adapted for the song Clover! Can’t wait to do Zero 3!

WARE WA MESSIAH NARI! HAHAHA!

Mega Man Zero 3 was really good, but either I am getting way too good at these games or they are getting easier haha. Loved the music and gameplay though, and how Cyber Elves were handled here is absolutely the best they have ever been! If there’s any game in this series I am gonna replay, it’s Zero 3 without a doubt! On to Mega Man Zero 4, the last of the GBA era.

Mega Man Zero 4

I finally did it. I beat the entire Mega Man Zero series. While I do not agree with how the parts and cyber elf system were handled, It was not a bad experience by any means! It felt nice following Zero’s character arc throughout these games. I’m maybe gonna take a break before I tackle Mega Man ZX, but hey, I feel like that game’s gonna be fun! It’s the only one I actually OWN on its original hardware after all! :D

Sonic and the Black Knight

This was a fun distraction for a few hours! I had a lot of fun with this! Granted the second King Arthur fight took me an hour but besides that it was a quick and good romp! Probably has one of the best final boss themes in a sonic game I’ve ever heard! :D

The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past

Pretty fun game all things considered, but I didn’t like how punishing some of the design philosophies were in the end parts of the game. Music’s great though! Maybe I’ll revisit it one day, but not anytime soon. Still, can’t say I disliked my experience.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Where…do I even begin with this?…It was…genuinely amazing. I was waiting for a sequel to Breath of the Wild for years, and during my high school years I was wondering how they would even follow it up! Doing a sequel to an open-world game is harder than a lot of other genres.      But yet….they did it. They somehow did it. Those 6 years of development time more than paid off. It felt…amazing to run around a changed Hyrule from the last game. The mechanics were amazing, and the character development was really cool! The new rune abilities are dope!!!    BUT THE MUSIC MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM THE MUSIC OH THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD THE ENDING MUSIC MADE ME ACTUALLY CRY AHHHHHHHH PLAY THIS GAME PLAY IT NOW

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

And here we are! Finally got around to this! It was a really dope game! Loved the combat and music! I even did most of the bonus content and the Ultimate Cup Z, but I kept dying at the final phase of the final boss of that so I just gave up lol, it’s purely bonus content anyways lol. But honestly I loved this game! Can’t wait for the next mainline kirby game!

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD

FINALLY GOT AROUND TO PLAYING THIS ONE! I owned this on real hardware since its release date but never got far. I finally got around to it with the motivation of beating Tears of the Kingdom, and I gotta say, it’s pretty good! Not exactly like, absolutely top tier game that everyone MUST play but, it’s decent! Bosses are a big sour point though. Music was pretty decent, though the final dungeon theme is a bore. Only other current Zelda games I gotta beat are the 2D/Top-Down ones, so maybe I’ll do one of those next! Possibly either Phantom Hourglass or Spirit Tracks.

Pokémon Scarlet

HOLY SHIT THAT ENDING SEQUENCE WAS ACTUALLY COOL AS HELL!!! Like yeah, the game has its decent chunk of technical issues but, holy shit….those last two hours of the main story are phenomenal. TOBY FOX CONTINUES TO BE THE GOAT THE MUSIC HE COMPOSED IS AMAZING! I love how easier it is to capture pokemon compared to Sword and Shield as well. I do like Dynamax raids more as a multiplayer component, but I much prefer the Tera mechanic in terms of PVP. I stlll need to do the post game before the dlc comes out later this year, but all I really got is just the refights against the gym leaders and all that jazz. There’s also the Needle thingies I gotta pull out and the wall things I gotta investigate in order to get the other legendaries, but all I really care about is finishing the core of the main story, I got other games to get to lol. Probably thinking of either Paper Mario or Chrono Cross next haha.

Kamen Rider Heisei Generations Final: Build & Ex-Aid with Legend Riders

Okay so context: my friend @arcadiusdragoneyes​ is showing me and @darkspine576​ Kamen Rider Build since it’s one of his favorites and he wanted to indoctrinate introduce us into Kamen Rider AND IT’S FUCKING WORKING. I only know one part of this crossover, but I think it did a good job of giving across the feel of the other Kamen Rider series very well! Kamen Rider Build is so extra I love it. Can’t wait to finish Kamen Rider Build!

“I’ve wanted to try doing a fashion shoot for a magazine overseas. And the setting is Paris, which I love! The city’s buildings and the townscape are so beautiful, so it would make for a wonderful shoot, so I’ve been really looking forward to it.” When looking at a photo of herself dissolving into the Parisian scenery, a happy expression comes over her face. As the shoot continues, Mina changes into countless outfits and quickly captures their design, moving actively or standing still with a mature mood. Her movements are widely varied, just like a top model.

“Paris is known for its classic cityscape, but the people living there are also wonderful. There’s a calm atmosphere, and I admire the way people spend time at cafes, use chic fashion in their own ways, and dress up at night to enjoy the nightlife. When I first visited Paris, I was looking forward to sightseeing. I was able to go see the outside of the Louvre, but there wasn’t time to go inside, so I was looking forward to going there the next time. If I had an opportunity to stay longer, there are so many other plans I would want to do, like getting up in the morning and going to a café, going to the market if the weather was nice – spending time here as though I lived here,” she says with a sparkle in her eye.

In order to embody Mina’s dream plan, the shoot this time is themed as if Mina was studying abroad in Paris for a short time during the summer season. She wears Fendi’s summer collection in a bourgeois-chic apartment to express the feeling of spending time freely in the summer.

“The Fendi summer collection that I wore for the shoot this time has a fresh style of Western clothing and swimwear. When you think of swimwear, you often get the image that it’s only worn at places like the beach or the pool. But if you wear a jacket and skirt or denim pants over it, you can wear it around town, and it’s very new and cool. My personal favorite is the combination of a short jacket and striped skirt with swimwear.”

Mina travels around the world as a member of TWICE. In 2023, the group embarked on their fifth world tour, becoming the first girl group to perform at stadiums in Japan, and set records for days in a row, including setting the record for the first girl group to hold a sold-out performance at LA’s SoFi Stadium. The group’s tour is ongoing, and they are currently scheduled to hold a performance at Nissan Stadium, where they will be the first overseas female artists to perform. Mina is enthusiastic, saying, “It will be a challenge for us.”

Furthermore, last year, she began unit activities with MISAMO. “The three of us - Sana-chan, Momo-chan, and I – have been working as hard as we can to support each other. This year, we hope to go on tour for the album we released as MISAMO.”

Mina shows off her beautiful new faces one after another, both as a member of the world-famous girl group that captivates audiences with their amazing live performances, and as a model participating in fashion shoots as a brand muse. In January of this year, she attended Fendi’s couture collection as a guest, and made her show debut. She expressed that she was nervous about going to the show alone, but said, “Personally, I love Fendi, so I was even more excited for that. I bought my first knitwear a few years ago, and thought it was really cool and comfortable. After that, I bought a bag, and now I use it regularly. Personally, I like the “Peekaboo” collection. Fendi generally has very feminine collections, but they also debut some very imaginative items, so I’m always looking forward to surprises.”

As mentioned, this was Mina’s first time coming to Paris alone for a fashion shoot since her debut. She gave the impression of a female image that was simultaneously cute, intellectual, and elegant. What kind of expression will she show in her next fashion shoot? We can’t take our eyes off Mina as she continues to put forth effort and gain experience to update her form.

Mina is a member of the nine-member girl group TWICE, who are scheduled to perform at Nissan Stadium this year. Also, last year, she formed MISAMO with fellow Japanese members Sana and Momo and began unit activities."

Tiffany's self-revelation

After releasing her song Magnetic Moon, Tiffany went on a tour around the United States of America. During this tour, Tiffany visited many states and met many Sones. She was supposed to perform in Chicago on November 12th but she had some time to herself so she flew to Chicago 3 days earlier. Tiffany wanted to relax for the next three days so she spend the first two days in her hotel sleeping and not doing anything, the next day however she decided that she would go shopping. She left the hotel and did not take any guards with her because she assumed that since she was not in South Korea she wouldn’t be stormed with fans if she were to go out. 

Tiffany arrived at the mall and shopped around as usual but she did not notice the number of heads she was turning because of the way she dressed and how pretty she was. Some people actually recognized her and politely asked her for a picture and a photograph to which she obliged because she was very happy knowing that there were actually people who recognize her even though she is in a different part of the world. She finished her shopping and went back to her hotel early because she wanted to rest properly before her concert so that she could do her best on the stage. Tiffany was very excited about her concert because she believed that once she debuted as a solo artist in America she is able to show a different side of herself to the fans which she really liked. 

The next morning Tiffany woke up in peak condition and she finished her morning routine, she was very happy with her condition because this was the best that she had been since the tour had started so she hoped that she could maintain it till the end of the concert. She still had some time before her concert but she needed to do a final rehearsal, perform sound checks, and also get her make-up done which meant that she had 3 more hours. She entered the stadium to perform her final soundcheck and noticed that a new security team had been employed so to be kind she introduced herself to all of the members personally and asked them to take care of her and have a good day, the security guards were very happy because this was the first time that an artist was actually kind to the security team. Weirdos of the Universe, Unite! was one of the most seminal books of my childhood, and it wasn't until I reread it that I realized just how much it was. I saw a lot of my personal attitude to life in Maddy, it was probably my first true urban fantasy even though there's a whole act on a spaceship, Baba Yaga is there as a very cranky but practical sort of witch…

As for my book haul, I just want to say that it was Christmas and I didn't actually buy anything? My parents came through with some really oddball picks, as I'd expected, my sister gifted me one of her favourite reads of the year, and friends helped feed my T. Kingfisher addiction. (More on that in my yearly wrap-up.)

But the book I'm most excited to have gotten is Hogfather, and not because of the pretty cover though that's a bonus. It is, in fact, the most astounding misprint I've ever seen and I couldn't pass up a chance at a free copy. I mean, how many times do you find a beloved book in which the entire thing is bound backwards?! Thank goodness the publisher didn't want it back, is all I'm saying.

And that's probably about it! I have no idea what book I'm going to start 2024 with, because I sort of read 200+ pages of Persepolis Rising last night so I could knock it off my list and now I'm recovering from the binge.

Ichika’s Colorfes Story Analysis

To start of this blog’s analysis of each Leoni Colorfes card, we have to start with both the unit’s first member and the first one of the four to receive one. Hoshino Ichika’s Colorfes card released on October 1st, 2021 alongside Miku for Project SEKAI’s 1st Anniversary. The card is titled ‘The Starry Sky I Saw’.

How she sparked her fragment SEKAI

Ichika is having issues transferring her feelings into lyrics. After a practice session Saki asks her how she’s doing and after Ichika explains her dilemma the group starts talking about it. Miku says something about wanting to see some of her lyrics and Saki is ready to tell her. Somehow they end up talking about the guitarist when they were younger. Honami comments, ‘Back then, Ichika, you really just let your actions speak for themselves.’ Junior High changed them all, but Ichika feels like she’s lost all the traits from before then.

These words spark the fragment SEKAI to appear up on the school rooftop. Miku finds, leads, and accompanies Ichika.

Fragment SEKAI

The SEKAI features a very similar playground to the one Leoni use to frequently visit as children. The night sky directly resembles the night the girls watched the Leonids. Their character colors are present in the night sky.

We get a minor explanation about Fragment SEKAI’s from Miku

She doesn’t outright say it at first, but it’s quite easy for players to put two-and-two together that the ‘someone’ Miku talks about is Ichika. The feelings aren’t strong enough to create a whole SEKAI, but still forms a half-complete one. It’s interesting to think about in relation to characters whose feelings made a whole SEKAI on their own, yet also have a fragment SEKAI. However, this is a Leoni-focused blog, so I won’t be looking into that much further. The fact is, Ichika could create a whole new SEKAI if her feelings were stronger. I’m very excited to see how they handle this in the future with the next ColorFes rotation.

What exactly is the reason for this Fragment?

As stated before, Ichika sparked it by feeling like her past self is better in comparison to her present self. She knows those years in junior high changed her, but she only views that change in a negative light. While that is understandable, it causes her to ignore what she gained from surviving it. Each member of Leoni uses their past to strengthen themselves throughout the story, but at this point they only finished the first event rotation and their first appearance before an audience. They’ve recently changed the goal for Leoni, and so, haven’t started the development they get in their second, third, and fourth. And, to top it all off, Ichika had her event a month before her ColorFes was released. We didn’t see her next one till April of 2022, six months, and once again finished the event rotation. Apologies for the tangent, just something that caught my eye while looking over the event list.

What’s the change in her feelings?

After asking a few questions about the playground and that night with the meteor shower, Miku climbs to the top, right where Ichika sat when she was younger, and invites the guitarist to follow. This interaction follows after Miku asks how the view is.

Miku explains how though the park is different, it’s still holds the same special place in Ichika’s heart. Just like how they’ve all changed, they’re still Ichika, Saki, Honami, and Shiho. Personalities change, but they do not change who you are. While she does agree, Ichika stil, doesn’t feel certain.

‘You’re the most amazing person ever, Ichi!’ Saki says this in the cards first side story, and now Miku is using it to reassure Ichika of everything they’ve just discussed. After this, they return back to the School SEKAI. These words, have such meaning to her because they are from Saki. Those three mean so much to Ichika, and their words carry more than others. Even Miku couldn’t get her to realize her strengths until Saki’s statement was brought up. Leoni is a unit that have known each other the longest, most other units never meet until their main stories. That’s why childhood friends is talked about so much. It’s very important to how they interact and react to each other. They know more, have seen more, understand the suffering the others went through because it unfolded before their very eyes. Ichika especially. She watched them drift away, and helped piece the bonds back together with Saki’s help. Yet, she doesn’t see how much character a person needs to live through that experience and still strive to reforge that friendship. Miku does mention this, but only touches briefly on it. At the very end of the card story, Ichika thanks Miku.

And how does the vocaloid respond?

‘Great. I’ll be looking forward to seeing them, Ichika.

Mod Rant

I love everything about this card, from the story to the symbolism. This made me realize how amazing Ichika’s character is, and truly when I first fell in love with it. Many people tend to overlook her because Colorful Palette gives her lots of mascot privileges. I use to dislike her for stealing all the lines, but she is the band’s lead singer, so they have every reason to give her more. The story beautifully ties in her doubts and her junior high trauma. She overcomes it, and becomes more confident in the abilities she possesses. We also get to see a good example of a vocaloid giving subtle hints and allowing the character to piece together the solution. The card’s art is meant to symbolize (very much my opinion) Ichika’s growing confidence. She’s sat right in front of a paint splatter, causing her to stand out from the white background. Painting and writing lyrics are similar in ways. Both are meant to convey a feeling or story by the artist, and Ichika has made a mark on the room. Just like how her lyrics tend to leave a mark on a person, she is conveying her emotions and smiling about it. She looks proud of her actions, holding onto the paint bucket as if to let viewers know it was Ichika, not someone else. The hairstyle could even add onto this. Some cut their hair to symbolize a new start, or show that they’re confident in their own actions. Kohane is an example of this, and so is Ichika in this card. One last thing before I end my rant. If you look closely, you’ll notice her guitar in the background, but it’s blank. This could symbolize how music is the blank canvas she paints upon (that wording sound familiar?), and she’s left it untouched for now. Maybe it’s linked to her struggles in conveying her message or even how she’s starting a new chapter in her musical path. All I can do is hypothesize about it, but it’s just something to think about.

You’ve reached the end! Congratulations, I hope this helped you to understand Ichika better or just brought her into a new light. I may do Honami or Shiho before Saki, but that may be a while. Depends on my motivation sadly. It would be amazing if I could just sit and write paragraphs about Leoni. We may have to read the two-part story to find out!

Part 1 will release September 5th, and Part 2 will release September 15th! It won't be voiced, though. Voice acting will come at a later date.

Producer Letter #26 Takeaways

As is tradition with i7 anniversaries, there's a new Producer Letter that goes over what the current and future plans for the series are that has a few interesting tidbits fans should be aware of! I'll break it down, but if you can, I suggest reading it in your own time.

Summary: The next performance is waiting and SKZ are mashing things up again!

The voting for the „No Limit“ Round went very well for Team Mayfly in every way. All 3 Sub-Units managed to win the judges for their Vocal-, rap- and dance performance, giving them a total of 15000 points for the team!

Everyone was happy with the end result and happy with the outcome overall.

Team It´s One looked a bit sullen but they congratulated the winning team earnestly.

Jisoo jumped onto Felix´s back, wanting to get carried back to their waiting room, making the Aussie boy almost fall over in surprise by the sudden weight.

The 3 Groups reassembled in their own groups and were getting ready for the next part of the show. All of them still had the No-Limit-rule and they used it to the fullest.

Since Stray Kids was second to perform, they had a bit time to enjoy IKON´s rendition of BlackPinks song Pretty Savage, turning it into their own version of being Classy Savages instead!

The girl loved the song ever since before it was released and her Unnies taught her the choreo when she was visiting her Jisoo Unnie at YG Entertainment, so it was no wonder that she was jamming along to it like no one else. Chan had to sit her down next to him at one point to stop her from using all of her Energy before they even got the chance to perform!

The look of regret on his face that was captured by STAY´s and made into another meme when she saw Lisa on the screen was evident!

Jisoo´s voice screaming “YES UNNIIIIE!” was even heard a few rooms further in the other waiting rooms.

“The DDU-DU DDU-DU reminded us of Du-Du-Du and we wanted to combine these two elements together. Channie-oppa had a bit of trouble at first, since the song have different speeds but he managed to make it work! He did a very good job our leader…” the girl added and petted the older boys shoulder next to her, making his ears turn red at the speed of lightning.

“I wanted to change it into our own unique style, thinking about how I could bring it together nicely. I thought it would be fun to bring them together and highlight that part!”

Dance Practice

The group stood in the middle the practice room. They were watching the MV to Blackpinks song to figure out the choreography for their own performance!

All of them planned to keep a lot of the moves of the original since they were what everyone connected to the song as a whole. Everyone agreed that they had to keep the iconic “Hit you with that DDU-DU DDU-DU DUU!” move as it was!

“We should keep that move but make it Stray Kids style.” Chan said to his kids.

Han who had listened carefully suggested that they should go for the concept of being rascals and witty.

“but we shouldn´t make it comedy!” Lee Know added into the conversation.

Jisoo agreed.

“Everyone knows the song so they will have high expectations of us and they would want to recognize the song they know in our version!”

“Bambi has a point there. We should keep it witty though!”

The leader of DanceRacha suggested they should try to mend the moves into their own style, ending with everyone pointing their finger guns at his face.

Lee Know made an excited face as if he was happy to be shot at and they agreed to add it to the performance.

Francis Crozier and O'Connell's chariot

In early September of 1844, Francis Crozier was between jobs, having gotten a year's leave from the Admiralty, and was just beginning to plan his upcoming trip to France and Italy. In the meantime, however, he was spending some time in Dublin with his family.

This meant he was in just the right place at the right time (or, as he may have felt, the wrong place at the wrong time) to experience a historic event: the parading of Repeal politician and statesman Daniel O'Connell through the streets of Dublin on a huge gilded chariot.

The ‘chariot’, 3 metres high and 4.5 metres long, was specially made for O’Connell’s glorious re-entry into the city, and modelled on the triumphal cars of ancient Rome. It was upholstered in purple silk and blue wool and adorned with gilded mouldings and decorative overlays, depicting shamrocks and stylised classical foliage. The sides showed Hibernia with the increasingly familiar national iconography of harp, round tower and wolfhound. On the back was a representation in gold of a harp surmounted by the word ‘Repeal’, summarising O’Connell’s campaign for repeal of the Act of Union. (x)

In May of that year, O'Connell and his son had been found guilty on conspiracy charges and sentenced to a year in prison. They'd appealed the verdict to the House of Lords, and their appeal was granted on September 4th, 1844. They were released after serving three months in Richmond Bridewell penitentiary.

On Saturday, September 7th, O'Connell was paraded through the streets of Dublin on his gilded throne-chariot, drawn by six "splendid grey horses" and surrounded by "a crowd of around 200,000 citizens." Several guilds were also represented in the long parade, as well as town council and corporation members and the Lord Mayor. Their route took them from the penitentiary (now the Griffith Barracks Multi-Denominational School) to O'Connell's home on Merrion Square.

If the Crozier house, which was located at 2, Sandford Place, was near where we find Sandford Parish Church today, this was a bit of a walk away. But the crowd clearly made itself felt throughout the city, because on Monday, September 9th, Francis Crozier wrote to James Clark Ross:

What think you the decision of the house of Lords, it has been & is considered here a great victory for Dan – Such a set of Ruffians as were perading [sic] about here on Saturday they say that they Dans people may now do anything as he can get them clear – I did not see one drunk man nor one that looked the least like a gentleman although I suppose he has many adherents that are so by both

Whether Crozier happened to catch sight of O'Connell and the triumphal procession itself isn't clear, but as he gives no description of the spectacle, he may not have. Accounts in the Illustrated London News bear the latter assertion out: "It is a fact worthy of notice, that there was not, in the immense assemblage, a single individual intoxicated; each guild was followed by a temperance band […]," and though excitement continued through the evening, "everything passed off with the utmost quiet."

Leinster (which includes Dublin) was a stronghold for O'Connell and the Repeal movement, but the movement had met resistance in the predominantly Protestant, largely Presbyterian, Ulster. For his own part, though he had publicly stressed common cause and appreciation for Protestant Repealers, O'Connell had privately expressed disdain for the Presbyterian support for the United Irishmen, and for Protestantism in Ireland itself.

Crozier, an Ulsterman and a Protestant, was evidently not very impressed with "Dan" O'Connell and his followers, nor with the handling of the House of Lords:

I must confess that I think the house of Lords have signed their own death warrant as a house of appeal by leaving the case in the hands of a few mountebank political Lords.

A quotation of unclear origin that's often attributed to Sophia Cracroft states that Francis Crozier was an "indifferent speller" and a "horrid radical". If she did say (or write) that, it's difficult to know what sort of radicalism she had in mind.

At the time of Francis' and his siblings' baptisms in the late 18th century, the Crozier family belonged to the Banbridge First Non-Subscribing Presbyterian Church—but had, as one of "only four or five" Presbyterian families in town, taken the minority position of not supporting the United Irishmen. Later, Francis' brother Graham became a vicar in the Church of Ireland. Overall, the Croziers come off as fairly solidly establishment. And while we don't know much about Francis Crozier's politics and he may have espoused views Sophia Cracroft would find radical, we do know that he was—unsurprisingly, given his origins—not a Repealer.

What are your opinions on all the Nu:Carnival characters? Eiden, the familiars, the clan members and Rin

This is not a coherent list. Mostly just my rambling thoughts on them. In introduction order!

Eiden: How could you not love our sweet little switch? He's such a joy to experience the story thorough and his pure and honest care for everyone makes it easy to see how they've all fallen for him. Kinky and caring, rolls with the punches, gets passionate on his loved one's behalf, easy to empathize with; I adore him (which is why I bothered to pull for him enough times to have his only unit be at 3*)

Aster: I love a dominate twink. I do find it hilarious that he got kinks people usually balk at in his few sex scenes (foot job and sounding). I love how he is the businessman of the team. What I learned about his past when Huey was still around made me want to cry. Support his desire to collect and spoil cute monsters. Hate that the devs refuse to give him more cards because he isn't a clan member. WHY GIVE HIM ANY CARDS IF YOU WILL NEVER RELEASE NEW ONES???? HE HAS FANS TOO!!!

Morvay: I love this big idiot (affectionate). He is always trying his best, even if he thinks with his stomach/asshole. I only want good things for him and am upset at the current story making me wait to see if he is alright! Give my succubus back! Same critique as with Aster: HE HAS FANS! WHY REFUSE TO GIVE HIM NEW CARDS??? It's such a dumb rule.

Yakumo: Someone please get this boy some confidence and self-worth. I cannot stand to watch him be so insecure when all I want to do is kiss his adorable face and tell him he is wonderful and perfect. His protective nature despite his belief he is not good enough moves me to fucking tears. Someone... This boy needs way more love.

Edmond: Cannot comment. I have no interest in him. He's just not my thing. He is very pretty though.

Olivine: Slutty priest makes brain go brrrrrr. I am just... the way his parents pushed him but he honestly tries so hard for everyone! I love him! He's not my favorite, but every time I read his cards I feel like I fall in love with him for the first time all over again and I do not know how to explain it.

Quincy: Okay, stop. Listen. I just... He's old. He's so old that he has seen people be born and die and leave him behind and he's tired physically, emotionally, and mentally. He has this barrier set up to protect himself, but to see Eiden break down that barrier and get Quincy wanting to be close to another person with a finite lifespan again? FUCK ME! Plus, you know, big and buff and hot. Size diff kink go brrrr.

Topper: Clearly the best character in the game. All power to Master Twilight Star-Show Max Lucifer Topper III!!!! I love how he gets his own outfit to match Quincy's during events.

Kuya: Much the same I said about Quincy, but in a more spicy flavor. He has the added bonus of being a yokai, creatures that have... questionable relationships with humans. He has lived so long that life has lost it's appeal to him as there is nothing worth living for; not knowledge, not power, not people. He's reached ennui and literally cannot see the point of his own life (we see a past version of him debating killing himself in one card). Eiden though? Eiden has brought that small spark of joy back into his life. He fucks with Eiden and can often take it in a direction that seems too far from a human perspective, but he never genuinely allows Eiden to come to harm. He is genuinely excited (in a subtle way) when he learns something new, and seems to be happy when his cynical view of the world is disproven (though he tries not to show it). Eiden has allowed him to open up to the world again, especially because Eiden doesn't forcibly bash his lived experience but also doesn't roll over and accept Kuya's bad traits. I love Kuya. He is my favorite. Also, he somehow got a shit ton of my kinks and I... yeah...

Garu: Cute puppy boy. He gets head scratches and wags his tail. I love how genuine he is. Garu is exactly who he says he is in every way and it is very refreshing. I just want to love and spoil him.

Karu: I admit... Karu is not my cup of tea. It may be because I'm not actually a fan of bratty tsunderes. It can be cute sometimes, but most of the time I find myself rolling my eyes and missing Garu. A shame because I usually like characters that have two conflicting personalities.

Blade: SOMEONE GET HIM A HUG!!!! He was alone for so long in that forest and he deserves better. I'm so glad he found Eiden and came out of there, away from that loneliness and waiting. Every time he defaults back into droid mode I get sad because I want him to enjoy being alive and being in love. Every time he says "Darling" my brain turns off and I wake up hours later with no memories.

Dante: It is hilarious how he innocent he really is while trying to act like the king. Eiden plays him like a fiddle. Hearing his past can make me sad though. I mean... Why does this game keep hurting our boys like this????

Rin: Why hot if evil? He has an eye mask and a tongue piercing... I am a weak person. I have things I like and he has them. I also want to slap him though because he hurt the boys I love! Also... yeah... I need the story here...

Rei: POWER BOTTOM! WE FINALLY GOT A POWER BOTTOM!!! And I love that he's not immediately all over Eiden but treats their relationship more casually. It's a refreshing dynamic. Also, he's a scientist doing questionable research in his house which is just 😳😳😳 Go on, Sir.

Father: Why is he named that? Is there secret lore or..??? Another animal companion to get cute event outfits. And apparently he's an animal that people have entire legends/wives tales about? I NEED THE LORE!!!

How The Libertines got it together to make their fourth album

More than twenty years after spearheading England's latest rock n roll revolution, Pete Doherty and Carl Barat tell Rolling Stone UK about the genesis of All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade, their upcoming fourth album.

“We were in a glass studio at the top of a hill in the middle of a hurricane,” recalls The Libertines’ Pete Doherty. “All these birds kept getting confused and flying into the glass. There was a full-on eagle flying straight into it and, in the middle of all this, the Queen’s funeral was on the telly. It was quite apocalyptic really.”

Scenes like these, which occurred when Doherty and bandmate Carl Barât decamped to Jamaica for a writing trip in late 2022, feel perfectly representative of the way that The Libertines have existed for the past 20 years: constantly teetering on the thinnest of precipices between success and unparalleled chaos.

When the group first emerged at the turn of the century, they were the poster boys for England’s latest rock’n’roll revolution, a direct answer to the New York indie scene that was exploding across the pond, spearheaded by The Strokes.

But wherever The Libertines went, turmoil followed. The group became slowly fractured, in large part due to Doherty’s much-publicised battle with heroin addiction, before splitting in 2004.

Nineteen years later, it’s a very different state of play for the Likely Lads. Doherty has been clean of hard drugs since 2020, while the group — which also consists of bassist John Hassall and drummer Gary Powell — are readying themselves for the release of their fourth album All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade in March next year.

The follow-up to 2015’s Anthems for Doomed Youth is, according to Barât, the sound of a band in the most harmonious part of their career to date. “Our last album was a snapshot of The Libertines in disarray, whereas this album reflects The Libertines when we’re not like that,” Barât tells me. “There’s more harmony at the moment, which is useful for a band, innit. Things had drifted off at some point, but now I think they’re nicely back together again.” 

One listen to the new record and it is immediately clear what Barât means. The ramshackle charm of their early work is back once more, but it’s tempered with a sense of reflecting on their here and now. Lead single ‘Run, Run, Run’ is a classic Libs back-and-forth between Doherty and Barât, but it also homes in on the idea of being a “lifelong project of a life on the lash” — something these two forty-something musicians can more than relate to.

“It’s autobiographical. It’s about us, it’s about time, and it’s about the world moving on and you know, not knowing if you’re running towards something or away from something,” Barât says.

It’s also helped by the fact that The Libertines have their own bonafide HQ down in Margate too. The album was recorded at the Albion Rooms, the studio and hotel that the group set up in 2019. “We were all there living together. First at the Albion Rooms and then at this place in Normandy, where I live,” says Doherty. “It felt like a collective, but we became this little unit, on a mission to get this album done.”

Now, it’s over to Pete and Carl to share the whole story behind All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade.

We’re speaking hours after ‘Run, Run, Run’ was released. How do you feel now that the first Libertines song in eight years is out there?

Doherty: I’m fucking excited. Not that I was never not excited about things we’ve released, but you hear this one on the radio, and it really hits what we call the sweet spot. It hits with a precision that you might compare to a guided missile, though in the current climate it might not be appropriate to talk about guided missiles. But look, I’m proud of the lads. We’ve hit the back of the net, and I’m over the moon.

Carl, you said recently that 2015’s Anthems for Doomed Youth never felt like a proper Libertines album. Why was that and why does this record feel like a proper album?

Barât: It does feel like I’ve given that album a kicking, but I do love it. It was just a snapshot of the Libertines in disarray, whereas this one is a snapshot of us not in disarray. Which is just lucky timing and helpful when you’re making an album, innit?

Doherty: I just want to say one more thing about ‘Run, Run, Run’. We reached a point late on where we only had nine finished songs, and we were scratching around for a brand-new song when Carl pulled that one out and played it. I just said, “Where have you been fucking hiding that?!” He wasn’t sure about it and whether to hide it, but we ended up recording it in two days straight. We have these weird, sacred moments where we play each other the songs we’ve come up [with], and we’re never sure what everyone else will think. Carl was unsure about it, but I said we had to record it the minute I heard it.

There’s been a fair bit of drama in your own friendship too over the years. Where do we find Pete and Carl in 2023?

Barât: I feel like being together and doing what we do without any distractions has naturally brought us together. We’ve got so much in common, and we’ve shared so much, and our chemistry together is unchanging. At this time, we’re in the best possible place I think we can be.

The business side too? This sounds like a different Pete to the one of old… 

Doherty: Yeah, well, we’re looking to commercialise things ’cos we need to keep the Albion Rooms ticking over if we want to keep the venue and studio going. That’s hard work as we get a lot of young bands in to help them out. We’re not turning over a profit, but we’re staying afloat, which is exactly what we wanted with the Albion Rooms. And with energy prices being what they are too, I wanted to build a wind farm at the Albion Rooms.

A wind farm?! 

Doherty: Yeah! I wanted to get a mini wind farm put on our studio extension, so I had the idea to put a small turbine on the roof. But you’re not allowed to do that, which for me doesn’t make any sense because surely that’s what we’re looking to do, isn’t it? For people to be self-sustaining and using renewable energy. We should get every street to have its own mini turbine. But the council in Margate wouldn’t let us do it.

It sounds like you’re living a more Zen existence in 2023…

Doherty: We used to live in a squat in Albion Road in Stoke Newington, and I was always amazed by this fella who used to live in a caravan out the back who ran the squat. We used to call him Delvin the Wizard, and he’d generate the power for his caravan on a converted exercise bike. I always thought that was amazing. It had never occurred to me before [that] that side of society existed. People who just wanted to break free from the system or live off-grid. But it’s actually quite simple, and it’s even more so the case now. We’ve got the technology for it, solar panels and wind turbines. So yeah, I’m all for a fucking green revolution, me. But a proper one, to put the power back in the hands of the people and to let them pedal their own fucking power! Why not? It makes perfect sense. 

Pete, this is the first Libertines album you’ve made since becoming clean of drugs in 2020. How has the process changed in that sense? Less shambolic, I imagine?

Doherty: I just never used to enjoy being in the studio. I never really tried to spend too much time in there. It was always a question of having the songs ready, recording them, and then pissing off, to be blunt about it. I had better things to do; I wanted to score. But this time around, the songs weren’t ready, so I had to be there with Carl and the boys, finishing off the ones we have and then writing others together.

It was touch and go for a while for those first few weeks because we were trying to get into the pattern of living together — on top of each other. But fortunately, we were all in the same space and we really wanted to get it done. The most difficult part was the lyrics. We’d put the lyrics off until it became this mad blur of broken typewriters, I think we went through about six of them. 

Barât: What’s that old saying? A fair day’s work for a fair day’s reward. We eventually managed to get around to that. 

There’s a social urgency on this record, unlike other Libertines albums too. There’s the image of what it’s like to be a refugee in Brexit Britain on ‘Merry Old England’.

Barât: For me, we’ve always written about escape, and maybe there’s been a change in how we’ve embraced the world. But there’s definitely still an escapist element too, because we’re centring songs around Margate, which is where we’re ultimately based.

You’ve always discussed this feted ideal of Albion in your songs, which is an Old English name for Great Britain. How would you describe Albion in 2023?

Doherty: It’s many things. It can be two twins sat at home watching an old clip of a Libertines video, and their dad going, “Who’s this? The local pub band?” It’s a taxi driver short-changing a tourist. It’s a taxi driver being really kind to a tourist. It’s a little feeling in my stomach. It’s hard to describe it, but it’s a sense of homeliness, a recurring theme you’ve always come back to.

Pete, what’s an average day like for you in 2023? You seem to be living what seems like a rural and idyllic existence.

Doherty: I don’t know. Mind your business. My wife always complains when I say too much about our life. We’re trying to build a life for ourselves, and I just keep my head down really. I’ll walk the dogs in the forest, look after my new baby, watch a bit of telly. Do a bit of writing. I’d be lying if I said it was all perfect, but that’s we’re doing. Living it together and trying to build a life. 

You both went to Jamaica in 2022 for a writing trip. How much of it was writing and how much of it was trying to strengthen your friendship?

Doherty: People thought we were off to Jamaica to just drink loads of rum, take loads of coke and go round on paddleboards. It wasn’t like that at all. We genuinely got our heads down to make some decent tunes and thought we had done, but when we got back it was all over the place.

Barât: Some of the stuff we recorded there did end up on the record. We had to have that trip because we weren’t necessarily ready to be full Libertines again, and we needed to go somewhere really far away. Why not pick somewhere really beautiful while you’re at it?

It seems like you’re both in a really good space, then. Was there ever a point over the past 20 years when you didn’t think you’d get here? 

Barât: I’ve had a lifelong battle with depression of my own, to be honest with you. Pete’s problems didn’t help, but I always did my best to be supportive and understanding because we all have these problems and were never able to name them. Whether it’s depression or addiction, but I’ve had a lot of chaos and my own problems.

Doherty: It’s taken some absolutely unearthly skills for me to be standing here. Well, not standing, but slouching. I think I’ve been pretty on my toes, to be honest, dodging bullets. I’m full of holes [points to needle marks in his arms] but the bones are just about holding together. I’m battle-scarred and stumbling, but still here.

Pete, how often do you think about your friends that weren’t so lucky? You were close friends with Amy Winehouse. 

Doherty: It’s quite difficult for me to talk about. Both Amy and Alan Wass [Doherty’s friend who died of a heroin injection], I listen to their music most days. So, I do think about it all, but I’d rather just not say offhand comments. My heart breaks when I think about some things, and this is just one of them.

But ultimately though, there’s a sense of harmony in The Libertines at the moment? 

Doherty: Yeah, and the Albion Rooms has been a huge part of that. There’s no better feeling in the world, for me, than just sitting there in the gloom of an afternoon as some young band rolls up. They really believe in what they’re doing and getting out their guitars, tuning up and going through their songs while the low Margate sun shines through. I just love that. That’s what it’s about, and it just takes me back because they were the best moments for me in our early days. Just getting our guitars out and making a proper bit of noise.

AEW Has a Problem

Everything that I type here is all in my opinion and it's something I didn't want to discuss at first but feel like it's time to say it. AEW has a problem and that problem is CM Punk.

How did this problem start, you ask? Go back to the post-media event of "All Out 2022" where just minutes after regaining the AEW World Heavyweight Championship, CM Punk lashed out at the media instead of talking about his reaction to the return of MJF (aka Maxwell Jacob Friedman) from earlier that day.

His words caused a backstage brawl that resulted into suspensions of himself and all around him including Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Kenny Omega, Brandon Cutler, Michael Nakazawa, etc. Also, due to that brawl, both the AEW World Heavyweight Championship and the AEW Trios Championship were vacated.

The Trios title ended up being help by PAC, Rey Fenix, and Pentagon until January 2023 while the AEW World Heavyweight Championship would be returned to Jon Moxley who regained the title and held onto it until November where he lost in what many can considered controversial fashion to Max Friedman.

Many people including myself were under the impression that a deal was reached where CM Punk would be let go by the company for his actions. Not the case as we learned that this Saturday (June 17, 2023) a new AEW show will premiere called "AEW Collision" and the show will heavily involve CM Punk.

Now...how did people react to his imminent return. Not very good. From everything I heard and read, the reaction was very negative with boos almost all over arenas and on social media. AEW tried to cover it up by finding those who'll cheer his return. It didn't work. Worse than that...the announcement of his return caused slow ticket sales so what happens next...let's announce his return match.

CM Punk, Dax Harwood, and Cash Wheeler vs. Jay White, Juice Robinson, and Samoa Joe. If you're a Jay White fan, you'd be like "yay, Jay's on AEW Collision" in an exciting way but when you read he has to face Punk in 6-man tag action you like "yay, Jay's on AEW Collision" but your excitement meter goes down.

To make matter worse for AEW, they aired a VTR of Punk last night on AEW Dynamite that got the crowd booing even more. And from the people I follow on social media, all were furious that AEW keeps on showing Punk. Some even ask "why has he not been punished yet for his actions" "why is he getting awarded when everyone got punished"

These questions I cannot answer but I can say that AEW has a problem (CM Punk). They've tried almost everything to cover up the problem and instead have made it worse. And now...I read something in which this problem AEW has with Punk is so bad, I don't know how they're going to solve it at this point. That something...an interview that apparently and/or reportedly went out of control. Read some details on it and...it's not good.

The last time I watched AEW was the week before "All Out 2022" in which I was starting to question Punk's booking at the time but was somewhat proud to see Kenny Omega back in the ring. Haven't watched AEW since then and until they release CM Punk, have no intention to watch AEW again though there'll be times I'll watch certain highlights but not a full show.

One more thing I've been reading since they've been announcing his return was a proposed match against KENTA at "Forbidden Door 2023" taking place June 25th in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. From what I read, many are thrilled about the proposed match because this could solve the one issue many have, who really owns the "GTS'. Instead, I read that Punk was "not interested". Reading that really boils me up because how in the world can you not be interested in facing a former GHC Heavyweight Champion, a 3-time GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion, a 3-time GHC Junior Tag Team Champion, a former GHC Tag Team Champion, a former Global League winner, a former IWGP United States Champion, a former NEVER Openweight Champion, and a 2-time (and reigning) Strong Openweight Champion. Why in the world do you say "not interested" to someone is regarded by many to be the best the world has to offer. Read KENTA's response to the proposed match and...it's a interesting one because he'll only do it if it requires the money provided but if Punk is saying "not interested" then why bother.

Again, AEW has a problem that they've yet to solve and based on all I've read, based on all I've heard, and based on almost everything I've said here...are not even going to attempt to solve the problem and it's a shame that this is happening. None of this would have happened if they had just fired Punk. Instead, look where we're at right now. This (AEW Collision with Punk) is going to blow up in their face.

With that...done talking about Punk here. Again, everything I just typed right here on my Pro Wrestling Express is all in my opinion. Feel free to comment on your opinion in this ongoing problem that AEW has no attempt to solve at this time.

Stars away

In a world nearing the collision of earth and the sun and humans relying on space, Kurage Akira was just 7 years old when her father passed from a disease. Akira sits in front of her father's resting place as she cries and weeps staring at her father's grave, the dirt soggy from rain, her black dress getting damp from kneeling on the wet grass.

She weeps as she gets a flashback from days before her father left her behind on this earth. “Dad I wanna be like you someday" little Akira says as she looks out a telescope watching the stars— "I'm sure you'll get to be an astronaut one day too" her dad smiles watching as Akira happily watches the stars.

Remembering that moment and many other moments makes her cries louder until she feels a hand on her shoulder, her dad's friend Mr. Smith who runs the space unit where he worked. He tries to console her and promises that he is willing to support her if she decides to become an astronaut too. He promises her that he will secure her a spot to become an astronaut someday. She was kind of happy by this seeing that she had someone to help her achieve her dreams.

*After the funeral.*

Back at the house, she goes to the back garden to see the cherry blossoms. They weren't just cherry blossoms since they bloomed 6 years before their original date and grew more petals than usual. They were the trees that grew from the cherry blossom seeds her dad brought to space with him to see how it affected the flowers.

She stares at the the beautiful pink and luscious flowers it grew, as the wind blows gently through the branches, while the sun shines through the leafs reminiscing her father. It saddens her, but gave her more determination to make him proud and achieve her goal in becoming an astronaut like him.

Now in college, she passed all of her exams with the help of Mr. Smith slowly but surely preparing her future that was set in stone in her heart ever since she was seven.

She has been working herself to the bone to complete everything and obtain all the things she needed so that she finally could apply for her dream job. She was worried but determined to achieve her dreams.

After barely passing, she was overjoyed at the fact she made it and was ready for her first mission… But work was not how she expected it to be. Everyone looked down on her for barely making it in.

They looked at her with judgmental eyes. Even the captains and people in charge didn't like her. She felt embarrassed but was still determined since she made it this far.

Mr. Smith greets her and starts a conversation as she gets a tour. Everyone wasn't very welcoming of her but she ignored it and did her best. After a while of working there, she was never chosen for a mission since everyone thought less of her. She was worried she wouldn't even be able to get on a ship at all. She tried to talk to Mr. Smith about it but he kept telling her that she just wasn't fit for the mission.

Rumors started to spread about her like her fancying up Mr. Smith so she could get a job here or her not even being on a mission. Yet soon enough, she finally got chosen for a single mission. Her only mission was to get on a ship, and fix up a satellite. When she got the news, she was excited at her first mission. But as she thought about it to herself.. It was kinda weird they sent her out on her own though, especially on a first mission. But she was too excited and shrugged it off.

Eventually, the day she was gonna get sent off was here. She excitedly got ready and overheard a few staff saying "They're sending her out there by herself?" a voice said "Yeah, I heard the shuttle is unstable maybe trying to get rid of her." the other voice said "Her shuttle is unstable?! But why?" more voices chattered and whispered, though she shrugged it off again as they were just jealous she thought.

Later on, she boards and gets sent off into space. Everything works out fine and she looks out at the stars excitedly. She's made it. Her dream is coming true right now. "Now let's just make sure nothing goes wrong—“ Suddenly she got cut off by the alarms on the ship blaring. A part of the ship had come off so she quickly called the station but there was no response as the signal was too weak.

She started freaking out and tried to come up with something so she clicked all the emergency buttons that could help her in some way, but all she got was nothing. Her oxygen won’t last long she thought—

She tries to calm down but accidentally bumps into a button which was.. the “Self-destruct" button.

Suddenly the ship counts down for self-destruction. She freaks out and tries to get in an escape pod, but the timer gets closer to the end..

Suddenly everything goes white.

tyy to all the people who made it this far!! There isn't much romance in this since there was supposed to be chapter 2 so this is mostly like a backstory chapter. There is kinda a lot of time skips sorry about that. I might continue this depending on your guy's feedback. thank you so much !! <333

“I’ve wanted to try doing a fashion shoot for a magazine overseas. And the setting is Paris, which I love! The city’s buildings and the townscape are so beautiful, so it would make for a wonderful shoot, so I’ve been really looking forward to it.” When looking at a photo of herself dissolving into the Parisian scenery, a happy expression comes over her face. As the shoot continues, Mina changes into countless outfits and quickly captures their design, moving actively or standing still with a mature mood. Her movements are widely varied, just like a top model.

“Paris is known for its classic cityscape, but the people living there are also wonderful. There’s a calm atmosphere, and I admire the way people spend time at cafes, use chic fashion in their own ways, and dress up at night to enjoy the nightlife. When I first visited Paris, I was looking forward to sightseeing. I was able to go see the outside of the Louvre, but there wasn’t time to go inside, so I was looking forward to going there the next time. If I had an opportunity to stay longer, there are so many other plans I would want to do, like getting up in the morning and going to a café, going to the market if the weather was nice – spending time here as though I lived here,” she says with a sparkle in her eye.

In order to embody Mina’s dream plan, the shoot this time is themed as if Mina was studying abroad in Paris for a short time during the summer season. She wears Fendi’s summer collection in a bourgeois-chic apartment to express the feeling of spending time freely in the summer.

“The Fendi summer collection that I wore for the shoot this time has a fresh style of Western clothing and swimwear. When you think of swimwear, you often get the image that it’s only worn at places like the beach or the pool. But if you wear a jacket and skirt or denim pants over it, you can wear it around town, and it’s very new and cool. My personal favorite is the combination of a short jacket and striped skirt with swimwear.”

Mina travels around the world as a member of TWICE. In 2023, the group embarked on their fifth world tour, becoming the first girl group to perform at stadiums in Japan, and set records for days in a row, including setting the record for the first girl group to hold a sold-out performance at LA’s SoFi Stadium. The group’s tour is ongoing, and they are currently scheduled to hold a performance at Nissan Stadium, where they will be the first overseas female artists to perform. Mina is enthusiastic, saying, “It will be a challenge for us.”

Furthermore, last year, she began unit activities with MISAMO. “The three of us - Sana-chan, Momo-chan, and I – have been working as hard as we can to support each other. This year, we hope to go on tour for the album we released as MISAMO.”

Mina shows off her beautiful new faces one after another, both as a member of the world-famous girl group that captivates audiences with their amazing live performances, and as a model participating in fashion shoots as a brand muse. In January of this year, she attended Fendi’s couture collection as a guest, and made her show debut. She expressed that she was nervous about going to the show alone, but said, “Personally, I love Fendi, so I was even more excited for that. I bought my first knitwear a few years ago, and thought it was really cool and comfortable. After that, I bought a bag, and now I use it regularly. Personally, I like the “Peekaboo” collection. Fendi generally has very feminine collections, but they also debut some very imaginative items, so I’m always looking forward to surprises.”

As mentioned, this was Mina’s first time coming to Paris alone for a fashion shoot since her debut. She gave the impression of a female image that was simultaneously cute, intellectual, and elegant. What kind of expression will she show in her next fashion shoot? We can’t take our eyes off Mina as she continues to put forth effort and gain experience to update her form.
