I’ve rewatched Episode 0 – Jidai (Eng: The Times) recently. It hits very differently in light of Kiyoshi Kobayashi’s passing.

It's weird to think that in the last few years, several of the people who defined the Lupin III franchise have passed away. There was Yasuo Yamada (Lupin's first VA) nearly thirty years ago; and more recently Yasuo Otsuka (one of the key animators who helped define the series’ art style) two years ago, now Kiyoshi Kobayashi... and most importantly, Kazuhiko friggin' Kato aka Monkey Punch, the guy who invented Lupin in the first place, passed away in 2019. All the big names are disappearing one after the other.

And, well... that's sad, but also that's bound to happen in a franchise that’s 50 years old (55 including manga) and counting. And to me, it puts into light a happier thought: that this franchise has grown beyond what it originally was, and that it's continuing even without these people.

It's not like their passing were great tragedies striking an unprepared franchise and leading it to a crisis. Both Yamada and Kobayashi had trained a successor, and the passing of the flame happened smoothly. And Monkey Punch hadn’t had a hand in the franchise for years when he passed away. They all got to see Lupin III grow, and they passed away with the knowledge that it would keep going on after them. Kind of like parents would shape their child in his first years, but ultimately watch him evolve on his own, in a direction they couldn’t have predicted.

And that's exactly what Jidai was about, right? "When times change, I adapt. That's how I've always lived. But Daisuke Jigen is the only person who never said a thing, who always accepted me the way I was. He's the only stable thing in my life. And I think that's why I've always been able to stay true to myself."

It's about the passage of time and the gentle shift from one era to another, as things and people that we thought were essential disappear, but what matters about them, the things they created, live on and stay true to themselves. I’ve talked about it at length when Jidai aired, through the lense of Kobayashi’s retirement, and it’s still true, maybe even more so, in light of his passing.

Lupin III, as a franchise, is incredibly different today from what it was in its beginnings, in the manga or even in Green Jacket. But that evolution was gradual, and at its core it's still the same characters, with the same values, the same relationships, and that's what make Lupin Lupin. What Kazuhiko Kato, Yasuo Yamada, Kiyoshi Kobayashi and the others built is strong enough to outlive them. And I think that's beautiful.

in front of you was a piece of paper— a piece of paper that had the names of all 7 dorms on it, arranged in random order.

“well, here goes nothing.” you placed your finger on a random name. “eeny, meeny, miny, moe, catch a tiger by it’s toe..”

grim watched in anticipation as your hand flicked between the dorms, sitting on the edge of his seat as the rhyme started coming to an end. you smiled as you let out that final “moe”.

“that settles it! we better go and tell our new dorm leader the news, hm?”

heartslabyul

riddle is over here acting like he expected this from the beginning when he and everyone else knows how much he didn’t. if anyone talks about how uneasy he actually was, it’ll be off with their head!

trey is really surprised— he was sure ace, deuce, and riddle’s overbearingness would have made you immediately eliminate heartslabyul as an option. he’s glad you made the choice you did though, the dorm will benefit from having another sensible person.

cater’s super excited!! new dorm mate! now come closer so he can snap a “welcome to heartslabyul” pic, he’s gotta remember this moment! he’ll send it to you later~!

ace is like riddle, except he did expect this from the beginning. while you were carrying some of your stuff to your new room, he decided to sneak attack you and threw himself on your back, making you drop all your bags— a great start to your time in the dorm.

deuce is in disbelief, you! chose!! heartslabyul! he was starting to have his doubts on if ace’s plan was really gonna work or not, but looks like it did! and him, being the great guy he is, helped you out a ton with moving in and setting your things up.

POSITIVES : there’s never a boring day (a fancy way to say it’s always chaotic), almost always getting off the hook because turns out riddle has a serious case of favoritism towards you, getting to bake with trey, tending to all the cute animals, and of course, tea parties with everyone.

NEGATIVES : it’s hard to get some alone time, keeping up with dorm duties, ace always coming into your room uninvited, and having to do extra studying about the queen of hearts + her rules. all 810 of them.

savanaclaw

when you told leona, you were confused by his reaction— which was borderline maniacal sounding laughter. turns out he was just thinking about how hard he’s gonna make fun of vil and malleus for losing the competition.

ruggie let out a biiig sigh of relief when you told him. it was looking like you were favoring some of the other dorms over savanaclaw, you had him worried!

jack didn’t really know how to go about welcoming you. he ended up just gifted you a little cactus he grew. it’s super cute, it’s got pink flowers on it!

POSITIVES : following jack on his daily runs, helping out ruggie with chores or whatever else he might need help with, hanging out with leona in his room, and being able to do just about whatever you want as long as it doesn’t cause trouble!

NEGATIVES : it’s overbearingly hot, lowkey smells like sweat 24/7, and most of the residents are hotheads. and very strong. which is a dangerous combo— so you have to be careful to not piss them off, and if you do, you gotta run. or you could take them on if you’re just built like that!

octavinelle

looks like azul has a new employee! you’re thrown into action right away, he’s showing you all the ins and outs of working at mostro lounge— and bam, you’re in uniform serving people fancy drinks. welcome to octavinelle!

jade is very pleased, promising that you won’t regret your choice. which you may or may not. he’s just excited to see how long it takes until a catastrophe strikes.

it’s hard to shake off floyd after he found out you were joining his dorm. you’re just tryna do your job, serving orders, but floyd wants to get you to follow him around the dorm so he can show you all the neat things about it. eventually you cave in, let’s hope you’re back before azul notices!

life in octavinelle

POSITIVES : getting free food from mostro lounge, making cute terrariums with jade when you both have spare time, floyd making work hours feel shorter, and azul being a surprisingly decent boss.

NEGATIVES : working at mostro lounge is not optional, having to worry about shady people (just about everyone in octavinelle), the twins deciding to bother you for no reason, and having to deal with floyd’s NDE inducing squeezes 2x more frequently than normal.

scarabia

because of kalim, everyone in the school will find out about you choosing scarabia within like a day— he’s shouting about it from the rooftops. (lowkey rubbing it in everyone’s faces.)

jamil politely bows and lets you know that he’s glad you chose them. the reaction might’ve been a little underwhelming, but he’s very happy. he also really wishes kalim was in a different dorm so he could subtle brag about it to him.

POSITIVES : this is by far the dorm with the friendliest residents, parties just about every day, jamil’s cooking, kalim helping you out financially, and being able to just relax with jamil in silence when you get exhausted by the parties.

NEGATIVES : like mentioned above, the parties can get exhausting, another dorm with overbearing heat, and the boys bring up their concerns about poisoned food and other dangers a lot, which obviously gets you a teensy bit paranoid.

pomefiore

hah, just like vil expected! now he knows for sure you’ve got a good head on your shoulders, choosing pomefiore. thank goodness you didn’t choose savanaclaw— he shudders at the thought of you in the middle of such an unruly place.

ever so dramatic, rook throws himself in your arms. with his hand on his forehead, he starts to ramble about how happy he is and doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon.

epel is super relieved; he thought he totally blew pomefiore’s chances. but that aside, he’s gonna go out of his way to help you with adjusting to pomefiore, all the new routines and lessons probably gonna be a bit to take in for you. despite you being someone vil is fond of, he knows the dorm leader won’t take it too much easier on you.

POSITIVES : seeing great improvements in your skin with each day thanks to vil’s products, bonding with epel over your shared pomefiore-related struggles, and becoming the person who probably knows the most about rook in the school.

NEGATIVES : having vil breathing down your neck nearly 24/7, a good bunch of your fellow residents are snooty, and rook stalking you. if you ever feel watched, just point in the opposite direction, yell something along the lines of “is that leona??” (or floyd, ruggie, anyone rook finds interesting will work really), and book it.

ignihyde

you sent idia the news over text, and when he read it, he screamed— like, the whole dorm heard it, probably thinks there’s a threat, and he’s gonna have to clarify there’s no danger + issue an apology to everyone kind-of-scream.

POSITIVES : you get as much alone time as you need with not a soul judging you, godly wifi, and you actually learn a lot about engineering, technology, and such!

NEGATIVES : you break something? you gotta pay up for it— and everything here is high tech and costs a fortune. and the other residents are pretty difficult to work/get along with, so you might have a little trouble making friends in your dorm. plus there’s a little too many of them that smell like axe body spray :’(

diasomnia

malleus smiles so wide, it’s so wholesome! and a little scary. but he starts dragging you around the dorm, no real idea where he’s going to take you, and not caring either— he’s just so overjoyed right now!

lilia is the one who informs you about the dorm! he tells you about the history of it, what the students are like, all that jazz. he decides to drop the boring talk after he sees how you disinterested you are though, deciding to go and show you what your first dorm duty is. it’ll be fun, he promises!

sebek is glad that you were finally able to see diasomnia is the best dorm! you get upgraded from a simple ‘human’ to ‘human with considerably great intelligence’, good on you!

poor silver was a bit late to the party, finding out about all this much later than everyone else did. when he finally found out, he gave you a gentle hug. a warm welcome.

POSITIVES : being proud of yourself every day knowing you saved the school from malleus’ wrath by choosing diasomnia, getting into mischief with lilia, messing with sebek, naps with silver, and having the pleasure of being packed with knowledge on gargoyles.

NEGATIVES : sebek is almost always yelling and you have yet to develop a tolerance to it, being surrounded by super magically gifted people is a teensy bit intimidating, and lilia’s cooking.

being in a relationship with wxs is... loving and sweet, but also very, very chaotic. they're your biggest supporters and fans, no doubt about that.

all of them absolutely adore your style, and they make sure to remind you that you have fans that like it as well! it's what makes you unique in the group, and many people love you for it.

if another idol, or even 'fan', said something that upset or hurt you, they're all very quick to make you feel better and smile. that is their goal through and through, after all.

tsukasa is familiar with it since saki likes to dress similarly. in fact, once the younger tenma found out, she was more than willing to let you borrow clothes and/or makeup if you wanted!

emu is by far the most interested. whenever you have free time, she asks you to go clothes shopping with her so she can also try dressing up like you! she even got the idea to do the upside down peace pose (?) with you at the end of performances, yelling out her signature 'wonderhoy!' while doing so.

nene is your support system. she understands that you might get nervous or scared on stage because you know that some people find you strange, so she like to help by talking to you beforehand. nene herself struggles with stage fright sometimes, so it's something the both of you can overcome together <3

rui knows what it's like to be different and have people dislike you, so he reminds you to not let that get to you too much. everyone in wxs thinks you're a wonderful and talented person, but rui makes sure to remind you of that the most. he even asks mizuki to make a few clothes just for you as a gift!

overall, all 4 of them are amazing partners to have, especially in this situation! they're all completely smitten with you, and they aren't shy to let you know that.

Higuruma is the type of guy to be dead set on one thing, something really gap moe about his character would be the fact that if his dingy old apartment has you in it, he would never leave it for the world. That shoddy apartment is where you've left little markings of your presence and it's where he first got to know you and promised you his life. He's antiromantic but he's also romantic in a way which is subtle and gentle he'd come home tired getting the same old ice cream you're fond of and he'd apologise to you who was sitting on the sofa waiting for him with a small peck and a little smile and a small ruffle to your hair before he would coax you back into bed with a gentle smile even when he's dead tired. Don't get him wrong, he also acts strict with you when you're being a little messy or chaotic around him but his heart still melts when he looks at you. (I might be delusional)(he's so older man coded I love older men)(that man would hug you so comfortingly and let you curl up into and against him at a specially vulnerable time)(AUGH I'm fucking choking up)(I'll see myself out)

He can put on a show, will actually change his personality to make it more comfortable for the others and make something easier type of thing.

Feels like he keeps a little distance too but will go out of his way to make the other people feel good or laugh.

Yeah he definitely likes making sure people are happy and feeling good.

Now finally as a whole group!

Ryuga and Mokudai bully Kan on a regular basis

It's like teasing bullying nothing mean

Kan has to hide his face at least once a day cause he did or said something embarrassing and they won't let it go.

Yuna doesn't join in on the bullying but she's very supportive, sits on the side and giggles.

Ryuga is the group clown, sometimes with sarcasm or over the top acting

Usually Ryuga would tease Kan, but when they pair up??? Mokudai and Yuna want to disappear. So embarassing please stop

Mokudai and Yuna are neutrals whereas Ryuga and Kan are chaotic but on the opposite sides!

I wish I knew more of their interactions with each other but these are cute too.

31 (Films) to Life: Once Upon a Time in America (1984) - Recap: Part Two

There’s still so...so much more movie to review.

So, to hell with it; no navel gazing, let’s get back into it!

SPOILERS AHEAD!!! Check out Part One for more!

Recap: Part Two

Back to old Noodles, at the Riverdale mausoleum that holds his old friends. And at this point, I have to say…why is the score composed of a pan-flute? Like…that’s definitely a pan-flute, right? It’s iconic and noticeable, but…why a pan-flute? Anyway, when he goes there, he finds that it’s been erected…by him? Ah, but this is a message, as a key is hanging from that placard, leading to the old locker they kept their money in as children. And lo and behold, it’s a briefcase full of money, labeled as an advance payment for his “next job”? The plot thickens.

Old Noodles walks through downtown, as a Frisbee unexpectedly flies towards him AND…back to 1930, and Noodles is released from prison. He’s greeted by a now adult Max (James Woods), complete with a hearse for his transport, and a sex worker in the back for…well, you know why, They head to Fat Moe’s, now a speakeasy run by the gang, who’ve gotten wealthy during the Prohibition.

Included in the gang is Patsy (James Hayden), Cockeye (William Forsythe), Fat Moe (Larry Rapp), and Peggy (Amy Ryder), all grown up and happy to see him. But perhaps most prominently is Deborah (Elizabeth McGovern), who’s surprisingly there to see Noodles post-release, and has been waiting for him since his arrest. She’s a dancer at the Palace Theatre, as she’d always wanted to be, and invites Noodles to see her there. There’s definitely a romantic tension there, so we’ll have to see how that goes, especially since she doesn’t approve of his criminal lifestyle and associations.

Speaking of criminal associations, we’re introduced to Frankie Monaldi, AKA the inevitable Joe Pesci role. Sort of amazing that he hasn’t appeared in a movie I review up until now, since…y’know, it’s Joe goddamn Pesci. Also appearing is Joe (Burt Young), who presents the boys with an opportunity: a diamond heist. They carry it out as planned, with the assistance of teller Carol (Tuesday Weld), whose involvement is…unclear. See, she lets them in, although it appears to be trickery on her at first, but it becomes apparent that she’s in on the scene. She also…fakes sexual assault by Noodles on her by actually having sex with him? I think it’s consensual…but even I’m not sure.

The boys deliver the diamonds to Joe, only to take them all out at the behest of Frankie, who wanted to take out the competition that Joe posed. Noodles balks at this, as he dislikes the idea of working for a boss, fearing the future consequences of getting in bed with Manoldi and other mobsters.

Back in the late ‘60s, the news is reporting on the attempted assassination of the Secretary of Commerce, amidst reports of government corruption. This includes an interview with a man named Jimmie O’Donnell (Treat Williams), whom Noodles recognizes. We cut back in time to the 1930s, where union workers Jimmie is being intimidated by Chicken Joe (Richard Bright), possibly under the command of the government. Rescued by Noodles and the gang, Jimmie reluctantly accepts protection from the mob.

This is undercut by the appearance of obviously corrupt police chief Aiello (Danny…Aiello), who’s taking interviews on various allegations of corruption, as well as celebrating the birth of a son. But with that son at the moment is the gang, who;ve snuck into the newborn unit of the hospital to…switch around the bassinets? That is insanely chaotic in the weirdest ways. And sure enough, Noodles gives him a call, revealing their plot: stop the cops from interfering with the unions, and they’ll undo the switch. A very clever and insidious plot, while also being…kinda funny, not gonna lie. At least, it WOULD be…if Patsy hadn’t lost the switch list. Ooooooh…oh, yeah, that’s absolutely fucked.

At the same time, we find out what the deal is with Carol. Turns out she’s…we’ll I guess she’s a very committed swinger? She’s married, and worked at the jewelry store as her side job, which means she…didn’t know about the robbery plans? She just ran with it, including the assault? Well, I guess it was…consensual? Jesus, this is a weird kind of problematic. After becoming reacquainted with the boys, she starts a relationship with…Max. Yeah, this lady is all kinds of confusing, gotta say. She recommends a threesome with Noodles, but he’s not into it.

Instead, Noodles goes back to his true love: Deborah. They go on a date in a nice restaurant, where they are the only customers. On this date, Deborah reveals that she does indeed care about Noodles, but is afraid of the parameters of their potential relationship, desiring a freedom and holding an ambition for Hollywood that she believes she could never achieve with Noodles. In fact, she’s going to Hollywood right after this, despite her feelings. And I gotta say…this is one of the better love interest characters I’ve seen in these movies. Like, she’s not a helpless waif, because she knows what she wants from Noodles and from life. However…it doesn’t end well…because Noodles rapes her.

Fuck. It’s, uh…it’s hard to watch.

Well, after that absolute fucking horror show, Noodles takes some time to reflect, Deborah leaves for Hollywood permanently, and I start to realize that I’m watching a movie about a bad person. Like…I mean, I knew that, because he’s killed multiple people and is part of a budding crime syndicate, but it’s been somehow lessened by De Niro’s acting and the circumstances Noodles has been in, but…yeah, no, he’s a bad person. And as he watches Deborah leave on the train to Hollywood, and Deborah gives him the “fuck you you piece of shit” eyes (understandably), we…cut to intermission?

Wait…really? We’re 70% through the movie, and NOW you let me go to the bathroom? That makes…no sense. I mean…OK?

Honestly it's all just kinda... exhausting? I mean shit, none of these kids have even lived long enough to their 20s, and their playing politics and quickly becoming victims and perpetrators of it.

All the while it seems like any responsible adult is too far away to do anything about it, while the scum adults take advantage of these teens desperate attempts to better their lives and the world.as they see fit.

And MC is just mixed in all this crap probably wishing they were still some snot nosed middle schooler playing call of duty, but forced into the role of adult

It just sucks honestly

I won't deny that everything about the situation the MC and the gang brought themselves in is, indeed, very shittastic.

"Never let a boy do a king's work."

My aim is to show teens (and kid if you include Emery) taking on a role none of them asked for and where the system has failed them. It's a slice-of-life, yes, but life isn't all moe and good vibes. I want to show the gritty parts of it, the bad and ugly, the unjust and other things teens can experience or bring themselves into.

Because we all know teenage years are our chaotic phase in growing up, and probably the worst years too.

It's also a bit of a character study on people who grew up and are growing up, experienced and are experiencing both bad and good situations and relationships. How would they react to certain situations? How would they react to certain people? Has their childhood molded who they are today? Can they break out of any bad mentalities? Do their motives justify their actions? Can they be redeemed despite of what they've done in the past?

A lot of stuff I have planned here for this IF, and hopefully I get to execute them well.

Idea for Zeke and his favorite friend:

Moe has 3 kids, a round of triplets that are around 8 years old. The thing with werewolves is that when they’re born, they haven’t fully separated between their two forms, and initially come out very furry and canine adjacent. This lasts until they’re about four when they go through their first ‘full moon’, changing fully into their second form and then shedding back into their human selves. After this, they go through a period of chaotic shifting for another 2-3 years, unable to control it for a time until they are between 6 and 7 and fall into the natural cycle werewolves find themselves in.

Zeke met Moe and his mate’s kiddos when they were about 2 after he was invited to a holiday get-together when his new friend found out he didn’t have any plans for said holiday. While Jolie, Moe’s mate, was a bit hesitant about taking in a stray who was still actively on probation and having him around their kids, Zeke obviously surprised her, being a good house guest and an overall polite person to have around, even if he is rather quiet initially and rough around the edges. On top of this, he’s great with the three toddlers who seem fascinated with the new person and who keep bothering him non-stop and its an overall nice holiday evening with a lot of family and other people from the neighborhood.

After most of the other guests have left, the few adults remaining are having coffee in the cramped kitchen and at some point Moe notices Zeke and the pups are missing. Not exactly worried, but certainly curious, he gets up and goes to look, not having to go very far to find them as he turns the corner into the dark living room. Lit by the flashing lights of some cartoon on the old small tv is Zeke, sprawled out and passed out on the worn couch with the napping fuzzy triplets on and around him.

There’s cars and dolls still in the kids’ hands and on Zeke, the children clearly having been playing atop and around their temporary babysitter before succumbing to the after dinner sleepies. Quickly, Moe grabs his camera and takes a quick picture of his friend and his three furballs, waking up Zeke with the flash and his own giggling. He waves off Zeke’s apology for falling asleep, making sure he’s good to get home as he’s clearly exhausted from the new job and everything else in his life, and Moe thanks him for putting up with the kids, which Zeke similarly shrugs off as ‘ain’t nothing’ before leaving to his newly acquired apartment.

Moe gets the picture printed out, keeping it on the fridge for years to come as he personally finds it both endearing and extremely funny. After several more times of Zeke coming round and her kids going through their first full moon, Jolie eventually gets a copy framed for her office at the hospital, which is certainly a conversation starter. Zeke, despite thinking its a bad picture of himself, enjoys pointing to it when he’s over and the triplets are being ornery and spiteful as kids can be, the annoyed groan of three children who are not his own making its existence and display worth it.

I think the first one is closer considering all the turns it takes but maybe neither of them count? I never hear music considered denpa to be from idol groups and usually they have a lot more electronic elements, but something about these two stick out to ke as sort of denpaish. and, I know I could just. judge this for myself. but for some reason I feel like I need a second opinion and you were the first psrson I thought of

That's very sweet, though I'm not really the foremost expert in the field, and "denpa" has no strict definition and can be up to interpretation. Hell, this site lists Badgers by Weebl as a denpa song.

My personal definition of "denpa" is either unsettling in some way (off-key tones, surreal mixing, creepy lyrics contrasting a cheery tune) or very chaotic and over the top moe songs. Personally I would say the second one might fall under the latter category (albeit it's definitely very mainstream friendly) but the first one I don't really get denpa vibes even after reading the lyrics.

But again, I'm no authority.

We do see them coexisting; this is what we kept in mind while playing, to be honest lol

(Spoilers alert for those who haven’t played yet??)

When Kazuma “died” we started making a lot of sad dead boyfriend jokes to cope since his relationships with Ryunosuke were so delightful. The whole “sneaking my boy on a ship with me” thing, his “don’t you want to hang out with me in London?” attitude, it felt like he was constantly winking at Ryunosuke, who was just so enamoured and fascinated by his ~friend~. But then Kazuma got Miafey’d and we (and Ryunosuke) were heartbroken lol

Then Barok appeared, and his chemistry with Ryunosuke was too amazing to ignore. We didn’t expect Barok to be this enjoyable and this… cute? There is a moe aspect to his character with him looking so intimidating and acting openly rude to Ryunosuke at first, but actually being quite a pushover once you get to know him. It’s like Ryunosuke fully got a prosecutor tsundere love interest, who he kind of weirdly bonded with, and as his tsundere heart just started melting a little bit, Kazuma’s back lol what an awkward situation. And what an awkward trial. You know the one I’m talking about.

Anyways, Barok and Kazuma are awesome, both of them, so there’s no way we’d just pick one.

I don’t know about them competing though because Barok strikes me like a type of person who’d immediately step aside and disappear into the darkness never to be seen again. He has a lot of doubts about his relationships with Ryunosuke as is, and Ryunosuke being Kazuma’s (of all people!) boyfriend just sounds like something that would make Barok never want to address this situation ever again, and then spend an eternity lamenting about how foolish he was to believe that they had something (not in a judgmental way though, in a “he’s happy with this person he’s much closer with” way). So frankly, it’s up to Ryunosuke to chase him and pin him down before this huge baby runs away.

And before it was revealed that Kazuma and Barok have quite a complex relationships themselves, we were pretty sure that Kazuma, being unexpectedly chaotic boyfriend he is, would just go “Naruhodo >:( You can’t betray a lover just because your other lover is suddenly alive, this is dishonest” or something like that. Maybe he’d still do that if it was anyone other than Barok… Surprisingly, we still think that he wouldn’t mind them dating, even though this is extremely awkward due to everything that’s happened.

So yeah, this is pretty much how we see it lol, and now that Ryunosuke’s back in Japan, and these two are in London, the situation is a little weird. But hey, Ryunosuke has two long-distance boyfriends! Kazuma definitely sends letters to him regularly, and he definitely talks about Barok too, because Barok himself is way too proud (very shy) to write a letter himself. He’d write one at one point though.

Hi first I want to say thank you for your writing! I've had a great time reading through them (I'm too weak to read the angst ones though). I adore your brain! Like damn. Idk how you've done such great work <3<3 Can I ask for Silver, Jack, Epel, and Trey (or just 1 of them if you're busy) with a mc who's usually serious and responsible but is more childish/impulsive and affectionate with people they're comfortable with. Can be either platonic or romantic depending on what you feel like writing.

Silver

Doesn’t mind either side. Silver is on the serious side, but he’s also an easygoing sort of person to be around, he’s tolerant to pretty much any kind of people, provided they’re not going out of their way to annoy him.

He sees appeal in both your sides. When you’re acting responsible, he feels proud, finds it admirable, it brings the best out of him too. He joins in if he sees it as necessary to fix a problem or something like that.

But when you’re out of that sort of persona, he finds it endearing. Mostly from the thought that you feel comfortable around him enough to show your true self, besides all the affection that he really enjoys. His quieter energy balances yours out, too.

Jack Howl

Oh, Seven, finally someone with common sense in this school, he thought with a heavy exhale as he met you. Little did he know, you could be just as chaotic as the worst of them.

Jack is often exasperated with you, mentioning how you seemed so serious, yet sometimes it seemed you barely thought before you acted... but he does that with a blush on his face, a huff to his voice... yeah, because it’s you, he can’t help but feel endeared.

As it turns out, Jack has a thing for gap moe. He’ll keep scolding you, shaking his head and acting oh-so-exasperated, but whenever you do something like get excited over small things, his heart starts racing.

Epel Felmier

Doesn’t think much of you first. Serious, responsible types are all over Pomefiore, bugging him to work harder, to fit the dorm’s standards. You may even start out not getting along too well, because of that.

But this and that happens, you get closer, and your responsible mask starts falling apart — And Epel starts falling. He’s got that chaotic streak we all know of, so of course he’s an enabler. And in getting into stupid antics with you, he finds that really loves when you’re acting so honest.

He eventually comes to appreciate your serious side more, too, once he understands the full picture of your personality. Still teases you for acting so high and mighty sometimes, though.

Trey Clover

He finds both of your sides very appealing, honestly. You might as well just be exactly his type.

Your serious, responsible side is what drew him in, feeling like a breath of fresh air considering all the chaos he has to deal with everyday at Heartslabyuil. You bond over being, apparently, the grounded ones of your social circles, and then...

...your less cautious starts showing through, and you become the very chaos he thought you were in opposition of. And, well, while Trey is “the responsible one” of Heartslabyul, he’s also a bit of an enabler, and he likes to spoil. So, he pretty much just gets hooked there.

CAN I JUST, LIKE SHARE SOMETHING - okay, since NRC is an all boys school and bc of that all of the boys just kind of assume MC is a dude too right?? MC just wears hoodies and oversized clothing in general! Well, one day while cleaning the Heartslabyul gardens, MC takes off her shirt and is left in a tank top, and the school proceeds to have a crisis, the staff to bc AAAA SHOULDERS - 😂😂😂😂😂

mc shows a glimpse of skin and the entire school shuts down like it's a national emergency!!!! students from each and every dorm come to see you, keeping you from getting any actual work done, and Riddle almost overblots in a fit of rage.

You're here to clean the gardens and Riddle won't stand for any dilly-dallying. He tries to maintain a semblance of order as the other Heartslabyul students crowd around you, but you suspect it's more out of jealousy than an actual sense of duty. Ace pinches your shoulder and teases you for being 'shameless' with all that skin out, but despite his sarcastic remarks, his ruby eyes remain glued to the pleasant line of your upper body. Deuce tries to protect you, bless his heart, but his face glows an iridescent red as he gently pulls you away from Ace, his hand lingering on your back.

Cater is already taking pictures of you and uploading them on MagiCam. The close-up of your pretty shoulders gets a thousand likes a minute… and Cater promptly makes the post private, simmering in quiet irritation as he finds himself being possessive of a girl for the first time. Trey tries to get the first years to leave you alone… and then promptly uses his senpai status to lead you away from the others and enjoy a few moments alone with you as you two continue to clean the gardens. You completely miss the way he gazes at your sweaty skin with clouded eyes whenever you turn your back to him.

Che'nya materializes behind you and steals kisses on your shoulders from time to time. He disappears immediately after with a chuckle so no one can stop him. Ace tries to smack him with a broom but misses every time.

You're wearing a tank top? Savanaclaw can smell your scent from a mile away. You somehow find yourself sandwiched between Jack and Leona, Jack's nose bumping against your shoulder while Leona's brushes against your neck. Ruggie swoops in to save you, pulling you away as he half-assedly scolds the other two. You don't notice how his thumb brushes over your pulse point, marking you with his scent, nor the way the air seems to spark with tension between the four of you when Ruggie keeps his hands firmly on your bare shoulders.

Azul clears his throat and tries to pretend he's not affected. He's very affected. He tries to romantically caress your shoulder but he's immediately cockblocked by Floyd and Jade. The twins hover around you like two skyscrapers and actively distract you from cleaning, poking and prodding at your exposed skin like they've never seen a clavicle before. Floyd attempts to take a bite but Jade pushes his face away before he can chomp down on you.

Jamil should be used to seeing exposed skin since his country's fashion is light and breezy, but he takes one (1) glance at you and flushes. He hides his face under his hood, but he steals glances when he thinks you're not looking. Kalim just waltzes up to you and wraps an arm around your shoulders, grinning from ear to ear as he offers to help you with your chores. You don't think much of it. It's just Kalim being a sweetheart. But the way he holds you flush against his body and looks down at you with mischief in his eyes tells you he may not be as pure as you think...

What is this, a zoo? Vil clicks his tongue and swats away the greedy hands that reach for your body. He's known you were a girl this entire time, of course, and he won't stand to have your blossoming beauty tarnished by a bunch of unruly monkeys. He casually offers to wipe the sweat off your shoulders… and then smoothly moves to dry off your cleavage too, lingering a bit too long with his fingers and giving you a dazzling smirk when you blush.

You hear Rook gleefully singing your praises all the way across the garden, his words getting sweeter and sweeter the closer he gets to you. You're all sweaty and flushed with exhaustion and yet here he is, following you around with a happy smile on his face and roses blooming around him as he waxes poetry like you're Helen of Troy. Epel is about to have a mental breakdown. He has to pretend to be all princely and polite because Vil is here, but he's seconds away from beating the shit out of Ace and Floyd with his metal dustpan. He remains glued to your side and drapes himself over you, bristling like a feral cat whenever someone tries to touch you.

Idia praises and curses the gods in the same breath. He should have stayed in his room!!! … But then he would have missed out on this premium moe content of his favorite character, (y/n)—! Maybe going out into the real world from time to time is not so bad?! He squats down and brings his hands to his head as he has a mini panic attack. If you and your bare shoulders get too close to him, he will pass out.

The only good thing about having Diasomnia's attention on you is that whenever they take a step towards you, everyone else takes four steps back. Malleus sighs and lets you stand next to him under his mantle, keeping a hand on the small of your back. His gaze is dark and intense as it flickers between your neck and your shoulders. You think he might be slightly flustered at the sight of your skin. Lilia is usually an old fashioned gentleman with you, so it catches you completely off guard when he sneaks up behind you and gives your neck a little love bite. It doesn't hurt. He just... rests his fangs on your skin for a second and your heart nearly jumps out of you. He cheekily licks your sweat off his lips and grins as he tells you to be more aware of your surroundings.

Sebek refuses to look at you, covering his mouth with a hand as his cheeks glow a light shade of pink. He stubbornly keeps his eyes on the half-painted rose bushes as he pretty much orders you to hide your half-naked self behind him. You're… most definitely not half-naked, but you know Sebek is just trying to protect you in his own awkward way, so you go along with it for a bit. Silver looks like the perfect knight in shining armor as he stands next to you, keeping the others away with a steely glare, a hand resting on his baton. You actually manage to finish your chores under his watchful gaze, and relish in the way his cheeks flush a little when you smile and thank him. He reaches up to brush your hair off your sweaty shoulders, his eyes burning into yours with unspoken longing.

At the end of your chaotic day, Crewel places his fluffy coat on your small frame and reminds you to be careful around men. You don't see the smirk he sends Crowley over your shoulder, nor the way the headmaster fumes at being beaten to the punch. It's his coat you should be wearing! He places his top hat on you instead, and starts brooding very dramatically whenever you attempt to take it off.

…

You sigh and keep Crowley's hat on for the rest of the evening.
