hypno concept: "jedi mind trick" through text

if you don't know what the jedi mind trick is, you have probably been living under a rock for your entire life. i know what it is and i don't think i've ever seen an entire star wars movie in my life (you know who, don't kill me).

anyways, i know for a fact that a jedi mind trick trigger has been done in hypno like a million times. but the hand movement that accompanies it can only been done through video or in person.

but it can be just as effective in text, even without the hand movement to tie it to.

the overall idea is the same: type a command or statement using second person.

the subject will then type the command/statement in first person.

example:

"you're dropping deeper under my control."

"i'm dropping deeper under your control."

the cue that what you're saying is to be obeyed and repeated can be anything. [brackets], (parentheses), *asterisks*, colored text, punctuation, etc. or even just nothing at all.

the point is that the subject can tell the difference between the trigger and a regular sentence.

it can either just be a sort of automatic call-and-response type thing, or saying it back causes some sort of temporary fuzziness/blankness for a moment.

i highly recommend this, it's insanely fun <3

the fragments are added on top of the scaling of an ability but before stuff like elemetal damage bonus and crit damage. basically if a character has 900 atk, their ability has 120% atk scaling and gain an additional 200 bonus from fragments, the fragments are applied directly after the atk is multiplied by the scaling. (900×120%) + 200 = 1280. This number would then be multipied by the Elemental Damage Bonus, Crit damage and other buffs.

That is a great idea and i absolutely should implement that!

I'll be honest tho, i feel like adding a 3rd swirl based passive will make her too reliant on the reaction.

ahhhh, that makes a lot of sense. in that case, maybe limit fragment stacks to around 10? as an hp scaling 4*, let's assume she has 25k hp. at 50 stacks, with each stack adding 0.2% of her hp to the attacking characters bonus, that grants an additional 2.5k atk, which is absurd. of course, getting that many stacks in the first place would be a feat unto itself, but still. limiting it to 10 stacks would grant 500 extra attack, which is still a lot but not nearly as much. Also, consider having some sort of atk bonus cap to the kit, maybe something like 500-1k atk depending on how you feel about it.

if you do add a lower cap, be sure to also change the other fragment generation accordingly

in that case, if not swirl based maybe make it so that it increases the number of stacks added per normal hit, to allow for easier stack buildup

also looking at the kit again, i would limit the A4 to something like 5 seconds max, so the player needs to recast the shield and can't just have permanent uptime with lots of swirl (not that it would necessarily be that impactful, as the shield is still taking damage and can break, but just a precaution)
