the sound of the television blaring from down the hall pulls him from sleep with a grumble. head pounding from last night's bender, shawn makes a desperate attempt to muffle the sound by pulling a pillow over his head, pressed tight against his ears as if it might help. he didn't remember leaving the goddamn thing on before he went to bed -- actually, he didn't remember a whole lot after pouring himself into a cab after leaving the bar, but he's almost certain he didn't make a pit stop to put on fucking looney tunes before passing out.

... and that's when it clicks.

jimmy had left him at some point during the evening, tossing a hasty, "shawnie, i got somethin' for us! i'll be back in a bit, don't worry!", over the music before disappearing. famous last words that he naively believed, and now he was paying for it. squeezing his eyes tight, he gives it a few minutes for the pounding in his head to subside before finally shoving himself out from under the covers.

grabbing last night's jeans from where they'd landed in a heap on the floor, he pulls them up over his hips, the heavy belt buckle left dangling as he yanks open the door to the bedroom. stomping down the hall, shawn is already swearing out loud, promising to rip jimmy a new one... until glass crunching beneath his feet stops him in his tracks. ah, shit.

following the trail of destruction to the figure lying crumpled up in the middle of his living room floor, shawn holds his breath as he tiptoes around the broken pieces of his coffee table. panic burns hot in his chest, trying to assess the damage, wondering what the fuck jimmy had gotten himself into this time... wondering if he was even still breathing, and he carefully kneels down next to him. a hand reaches out to touch jimmy's back, and he sighs in relief to feel the slow rise and fall. good. he could work with that.

i  think  imogene’s  composed  nature  gives  the  impression  that  she  wants  something  fancy,  but  imogene’s  really  just  down  for  anything  thoughtful.  she  takes  dates  /  outings  as  a  way  to  explore  the  other  person’s  interests,  so  even  if  it’s  just  a  trip  to  the  movies  or  getting  coffee,  she’s  pleased  with  anything  as  long  as  there’s  real  connection.  if  she’s  planning  a  date,  then  she’s  happy  to  invite  someone  over  to  cook  dinner  together,  listen  to  some  records,  and  watch  some  cheesy  romcom  during  dessert.  back  in  her  hometown,  she  just  loved  going  to  the  drive  in  or  visiting  the  lake  at  sunrise,  two  things  she  always  dragged  levi  or  olivia  to  when  possible.

her  job  requires  her  to  be  extremely  direct,  so  imogene  has  no  issue  with  eye  contact,  but  she  definitely  doesn’t  seek  to  prolong  it.  she’ll  tolerate  it  the  necessary  amount  to  make  a  point,  but  no,  she’s  not entirely  comfortable  gawking  at  someone  or  being  gawked  at.  it’s  easier  in  a  professional  setting,  but  off  putting  in  her  personal  life.

i  think  it  depends  on  the  vibe.  after  a  long  day,  imogene’s  not  crazy  at  the  idea  of  relaying  the  entire  day’s  events  unless  something  genuinely  interesting  happens,  so  she’d  prefer  time  to  decompress  and  just  relax  with  them.  on  easier  days,  though,  she’s  thrilled  to  spark  up  conversations  on  random  subjects  and  carrying  on  for  hours.  she’s  very  sociable,  and  she’s  always  getting  started  on  some  weird  tangent  after  a  few  glases  of  wine.

↪     is  it  easy  for  your  muse  to  devote  their  full  attention  to  one  person  at  a  time  ?

that  is  something  she’s  actively  trying  to  work  on.  imogene’s  job  is  a  necessary  escape,  so  she’s  never  fully  digested  what  happened  in  her  youth.  the  constant  distractions  (  phone  calls,  emails,  meetings,  etc.  )  definitely  curb  any  invasive  thoughts,  but  it’s  also  kept  her  at  an  arm’s  length  from  people  in  her  personal  life.  she’s  capable  of  completely  engaging  with  one  person,  but  it  doesn’t  come  easy  at  all  lmao.  i  think  being  back  in  holloway  definitely  helps,  especially  since  she  can  never  get  any  damn  service.
