and it's about a field of sunflowers (inspired by van gogh's painting) where there is a tiny flower that feels different. eventually, the little flower realizes it can find comfort/solace in the moon just like the rest of its siblings find comfort/solace in the sun; it's a "moonflower", rather than a sunflower.

i was a huuuuuge reader as a child, and as a little kid i loved picture books with really vibrant or detailed art! two of my favorites were “The Rainbow Fish” (a story about pride & the power of sharing) and “Stellaluna” (a story about finding yourself) — i always recommend them to parents because they’re beautiful books and teach such important lessons!!

My first actual Monster Prom fanart!! I've been getting back into the game for a couple months, and I absolutely adore the dialogue, the characters, all that fun stuff. Wanted to make some fanart of my favorite player character Vicky after being inspired by "Judy You Hung The Moon" by HARBOUR. The song itself also really gives off Monster Roadtrip vibes, methinks.

I'm also really proud of how the cardboard style turned out!! I did something similar with a previous fanart, but instead it was felt. I really wanted to capture that sort of puppet show/school play kind of vibe.

Steve can’t sleep.

He’s been tossing and turning for god knows how long but nothing seems to work. The air in the room is stuffy, the light from the street lamp outside shines too bright through the open blinds, and the fucking noise...

    Ugh!

He hates himself for ending up here in the first place. Squished between the wall and Eddie fucking Munson who’s dead asleep on his back, happily snoring, legs and arms splayed out like he owns the fucking place.

Okay, maybe because he does. It's his bed after all.

They’ve been hanging out at the trailer – Eddie, Steve, Robin, and Vickie. And they really had a great time, that’s not the problem. The problem is, that Steve let himself be talked into having ‘just one beer’ and one turned into three which would’ve been fine, really. He could’ve sobered up enough to drive them home by the end of the night. But then Eddie had to bring out the good stuff and- Well.

Him and the girls decided to stay overnight. But unfortunately, Rob and Vic called dibs on the folding couch and while Steve would’ve been fine to sleep on the floor (‘Just hand me a blanket, I really don’t mind.’) Eddie insisted that his bed was big enough for two.

So, here he is now. Lying awake next to the loudest snorer in history, unable to get some much-needed sleep.

Steve turns again, facing Eddie now. He looks at the mess of tangled hair, the starfish-like display of limbs, the half-parted lips, and despite his annoyance he can’t bite back a quiet chuckle.

Eddie looks adorable.

I mean... like a dork!

The sound of his snoring has turned into a muffled sound, almost like he’s talking in his sleep but Steve can’t really make out the words. And then Eddie moves, turns to his side and-

    You have got to be kidding me!

One of Eddie's hands sneaks around his middle the same time he hooks one leg over Steve’s. Eddie shuffles closer, pressing his nose into coarse hair - inhaling deeply, sighing contently in his sleep.

Steve feels trapped, doesn’t know what to do. He can't just push Eddie away, doesn’t want to startle him awake by wiggling out of his grasp because Eddie looks so... comfortable. So cosy, all curled up against Steve’s body.

And it kinda feels nice because Eddie is warm and his skin is soft and the snoring has stopped, which is a big plus.

Surely, he’ll let go and turn back around if Steve just waits a little while. There’s no need to make a big deal out of it.

“Hmm, 's nice," Eddie mumbles.

Steve can feel his lips moving against his chest and it sends a hot blush to his face.

   “Eddie? You awake?” Steve tries but gets no verbal response from the other man. Eddie just tightens his grip, moves even closer to Steve.

The digits on the alarm clock tell him it’s 02:23. He should be asleep by now. He’s so tired, can barely keep his eyes open. Eddie’s skin is so soft and warm and Steve tries to keep his own body from sinking further into the embrace but it feels nice to be held like that. To feel someone else's skin on his own. It should be weird - because that someone is Eddie - but somehow, it's not.

The monotonous sound of Eddie’s now calm breathing works like magic, makes him drift deeper and deeper into a peaceful sleep.

☀️

   “Good morning, sunshine.”

Steve blinks and forces one eye open. He's greeted by a blinding smile that competes with the light of the sun shining through the window.

   “M’rning,” Steve mumbles sleepily in return.

He doesn’t want to get up, wants to sleep a little longer. He wants to stay hidden from the world just a couple more minutes.

Steve ducks his head back down, scoots closer, crawls back into the comfort of Eddie’s arms where it’s warm and safe and-

    Oh.

He freezes when he realises the position they're in – an arm wrapped around his shoulder, his own draped over Eddie's waist. Tangled legs. Steve’s face tucked into the space between Eddie’s shoulder and neck.

    Oh fuck.

Eddie doesn’t seem to mind though. He doesn’t say anything, doesn’t push him away. Just lets Steve hold him and even starts drawing circles to the skin on his back.

It feels so fucking nice.

   “Hmmm.” Steve hums, nearly moans when he feels Eddie's nails scraping along his neck and into his hair line, sending a tingling sensation through his body.

   “You like that?” Steve feels Eddie’s hoarse, sleepy voice vibrating on his lips where they’re connected to his throat - feather light, barely touching.

  “Feels good,” Steve answers, lips grazing Eddie's skin almost like a tender kiss. Almost.

Beside him Eddie shivers, inhales shakily as he pulls Steve closer into his arms.

They stay like that for a while in comfortable silence, gentle hands stroking long lines up and down Steve's back in steady motion. They're holding each other closer than they should be allowed to. Because they’re friends and that’s not usually what friends do.

   “I could stay like this forever,” Eddie whispers and Steve secretly agrees. Thinks he could live in Eddie’s arms, wouldn’t mind if he held him like this, always.

But forever is a dream and always an illusion.

They both know the moment is over when they can hear the girls talking in the living room. They’ll have to let each other go and get up. Forget about this and pretend it never happened.

Steve peels himself off reluctantly, keeps one hand placed on Eddie’s side. He's not quite ready to leave.

Their eyes meet and there’s a sad smile on Eddie’s face. Steve wants to kiss it better, knows he can't.

He shouldn’t want this but Eddie is right there; hesitating, like he doesn't want to let go either and maybe...

"Stevie?"

Yeah, maybe.

I’m a 23 cancer (1999) and I’m currently studying psychology and doing an internship in neuropsychology. Personally I would describe myself as an ambivert but tend to be more introvert (INFJ-A). 💢 ANGER - what are some habits they have that will take some getting used to?

Jo doesn't sit still, most of the time, and when she's sitting she fidgets. She taps her pen and bounces her knee, she drums her nails on the table or against her coffee glass. If she's sitting next to a loved one listening to something on the radio, she'll pull their hand into her lap and tap on that instead. She also has a habit during stressful periods/work-nights of postponing food until it's super late and she's wandering around the kitchen, not purposefully trying to make noise but still making all the noises that people make in the kitchen i.e. opening/closing the fridge, drawers, clanking utensils, etc.

🍧 SHAVED ICE - do they still have any objects from their childhood? what significance does it have to them? what would their reaction be if they lost it?

Most everything she had to sell for the money, but she's kept a few pieces of her mother's jewelry, notably some earrings and a St. Christopher's medal. The earrings are more keepsakes, she doesn't wear them, while she eventually brings the medallion with her and to wear. There's a whole storyline with it that I'm very !! about. I think there's also the possibility that while she couldn't hold on to her mother's sewing machine, she kept her sewing kit, and some beautiful old threads and buttons and tools that were in it.  

🌙 MOON - what is your oc's greatest wish? how far are they willing to go for it?

Frankie is a really giving person, and I think one of her dreams is to create a space where people can come and relax and enjoy themselves and be themselves, like a café/restaurant. It's to give that to other people, and it's something she's wanted for herself since she left home as a teenager, that care and community. When she cooks for her friends and talks and laughs and shares food and wine with them, she wants that feeling and atmosphere on a bigger scale. While working as a switchboard operator is a way to make a living and to keep her head down, it's not what she wants for the rest of her life.

🙈 SEE-NO-EVIL - what's a side of your oc that they don't want to show other people?

Understandably, Frankie is afraid of showing aspects of who she is to people who won't accept them or will use that information against her - namely the fact that she's a lesbian and loves women. It's not that she doesn't want people to know this, but she knows very well that there can be very real consequences. Relatedly, I think she keeps some of the softer sides of herself hidden in the day to day, around people who don't really know her, the parts of herself that are very loving and also desirous of love.

📣 MEGAPHONE - how loud are they? what do they speak like? got a voice claim?

Vicky is loud, but it's a practical kind of loud. She grew up as a middle child and an older sister, and used her voice to assert herself and to advocate for others. She's a firm and direct person both in her work and with her friends, especially the former. Meek and mild doesn't get her where she wants to go, and so, she's not. I don't have a voice claim for her but in terms of how she speaks - I think of her as having a lower voice, and kind of a slightly Old Hollywood, wisecracking best friend vibe, although hopefully more nuanced?

💐 Who worries the most?

Usually Vicky because Newkirk is the one who goes on dangerous missions more. It's not that she doesn't trust him - she does! When it comes to imitating German officers, he's the best in her eyes and he has the criminal midset to get out of sticky situations. But there's always the possibility of him getting caught sneaking in or out of camp because that's pure Russian roulette. However, if Vicky is ever sent on a mission that isn't just her filling out her role has Viktoria Brandt, Newkirk turns into an anxious mess, incapable of sitting or standing still for even a minute.

Definitely Gordon. Raevyn is trained to work under immense pressure more than Gordon is and she's used to life or death situations. Plus, her telepathy and the fact that she can kill most species with a single touch give her security. Gordon, on the other hand, might be able to keep focus at the helm, but as soon as he leaves that chair... Fish out of water. He knows Raevyn is a good marksman, he knows she's an ace at close combat, he knows she has everything under control - but he still fusses over every single scratch.

🎩 Who annoys the other while reading?

Definitely Newkirk. His love languages are physical touch and quality time. He wants to constantly be close to her, have one arm around her, maybe show her a magic trick. Vicky sometimes just wants to read and have some time for that. She's okay with it if he wants to cuddle, but he needs to keep quiet and still - and that's the issue.

I don't think either of them read, so I chose the closest thing: Work. Raevyn still takes work a little more seriously than Gordon does, so he sometimes tries to annoy her into taking a break and having fun with him. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

🎭 Who's the dramatic one?

Newkirk, no doubt about it. He turns the sass meter all the way to maximum if someone said something unkind to Vicky. If he’s gone through one of his worrying fits, he will not shut up about it to Vicky for at least the next 30 minutes, acting is if she had just been resurrected from the dead.

Surprisingly enough, it's Raevyn. She does it to annoy her boyfriend or just for fun. Exaggerating is her favourite way to do it, or whining when she has lost another round of video games. Sometimes she does it to mock him too.

🌙 How do they comfort each other when they are helpless about the situation?

Newkirk uses his skills as a conman for distracting Vicky. Magic tricks, mostly, little songs, fun stories... If everything fails, he'll just hold her close. Vicky will calm Newkirk down from raging all about the situation, make him some tea and cuddle him. Once he's calmed down enough, she'll let him lay is head in her lap and stroke his hair.

Gordon will be very confused about what to do. He'll try his best to comfort Raevyn, cuddle with her, try and make her feel better. Unless it's a world-is-ending scenario, he'll invite her to some fun in the simulator or some video games to distract her, but usually the situation doesn't leave room for that. For Raevyn to crack up like that, it needs to be a world-is-ending scenario. Raevyn is a lot better at comforting people. She'll use her telepathy to send calming thoughts or just a calm state of mind over to Gordon and hold him close. Everything will be okay, she'll say, no matter if she believes it or not. Everything has to be okay, for Gordon’s sake.
