Ilharess "Illy" Zolaed (he/him), graviturgist wizard, technically a noble, has died twice now it's fine he's consecuted he gets better

Illy was on his second life when he joined the Dynasty's military and ended up partnered with a half-orc echo knight. They hit it off extremely well and did work together for some five years or so as border guards in the mountains.

Vic considered Illy the smartest person he knew (which, tbf, was probably accurate at the time) and absolutely his best friend. He was also definitely in love with the stupid drow and didn't realize it until multiple years after Illy was killed. Lots of trauma there, only slightly negated by the fact that Vic did manage to get him close enough to a beacon for Illy's consecution to take.

Later had the fun time learning that the Zolaed family uhhhhhh Sucks and kind of pushed this kid to join the military (it wasn't a hard sell, granted) because he was bad at politics and they wanted him out of the way. The fact that he was killed in the process was kind of a pleasant surprise. There will be words about that at some point.

Ilharess is stubborn, a little arrogant, and dedicated to a fault. He's very particular about his hair and he loves his country and his magic and also maybe his extremely oblivious partner, there was never specific confirmation there

Also he's coming back for his third life as a goblin which is extremely funny to me, the short jokes will be endless

artificer: artillerist! too much to keep track of for me but it looks ridiculously fun. that's my issue with artificers in general, i think? but the ballistas are more intimidating than other features imo

barbarian: hm... i love wild soul a lot! but it's det sort of... the last one of the barbs that i like that i'd rush to play, y'know? i have control issues. see: sorcerer

bard: i've barely even experimented with bards but the college of eloquence seems so cool... and so impossible for me to play. i don't *like* being charismatic is the thing

blood hunter: in a statement that might actually surprise some of y'all, as it's coming from me, known lycanthrope enthusiast... i don't think i'd be down for playing a lycan blood hunter! i love to see a werewolf always, but the mechanics don't mesh well with my playstyle

cleric: all clerics are queens but. i don't think i'd enjoy playing a tempest cleric? which is odd, because i love when clerics get to do murder and carnage. i just feel like. if i were to go for a god of the sea or of weather or what have you, i would have more fun playing with nature or grave, maybe even life?

druid: shepherd. once again, veering into the "some of these features are just too much for me to handle" territory.

fighter: echo knight! it's so much fun but i will only ever be able to think of my sweet angel viconis ginra

monk: elements. it's very fun to watch, but it's just like. calling spells by other names. confusing.

paladin: conquest. not really in my RP comfort zone, y'know?

ranger: ...gloom stalker. [dodges tomatoes]. i love it and i think it's super fun but also i could just play a rogue/druid multiclass and get the exact same joy out of it.

rogue: thief. just not my vibe.

sorcerer: wild magic. i have control issues! i know this is ironic because i loooove seeing wild magic in games, i homebrewed a wild magic invocation for warlocks, i put a bunch of wild magic mechanics in my games, etc, but. i like to keep my own chaos contained.

warlock: fiend. in general i find warlocks really frustrating to play, as much as i love them conceptually, and i feel like the fiend features don't add much to make up for that.

wizard: enchantment. the ethics of the school are so nasty and difficult for me to deal with but i'd love to see others try

15. What battle in the campaign has been most memorable to your character? battle with the fiends in the Pit. near death experience, direct attack from asmodeus, and just generally all those mixed up emotional experiences of badassery and terror and Whatever The Fuck made it... hard to forget 24. Which other player character does your character find themselves having the most in common with? i know its a copout but. vic. and like there's actual reasons here. they're both being hunted by someone who wants to either use their talents or keep others from using their talents, and have tried to flee punishment from those people fearing consequences when it probably would've been better for their health to contact those ppl hunting them immediately. plus they both went through metaphorical rebirths: nol had the imprisonment, vic had the pseudonym of krag

1: What does your character typically keep in their pockets? Vic ranges between having very little and a whole assortment of random junk depending on whether he's cleaned out his stuff lately. The common things tend to be a couple sending stones (he does learn Sending eventually but likes having a backup in case he uses his very limited spell slots for something else that day), the current rag used to clean his sword, something to write with, probably some bits of dry rations. Joseph is usually really sparse. He has the occasional shiny thing Spike picked up (currently polished rocks), perhaps a broken crossbow bolt he thinks is salvageable, maybe some bandages, but nothing super consistent.

7: How impulsive is your character? Vic is,,, more than he'd like to admit. He's smart, but sometimes the book smarts out pace the common sense and he's absolutely one to try testing out some spell modification before considering whether it's a good idea or not. Notable impulsive decisions include: not going back to Rosohna after Illy died; picking This Wizard as the new focus of his martyr complex; using his echo in the fighting tournament; giving up his citizenship and subclass to keep traveling with a group he'd met like a month before; everdin thelyss Joesph is not the impulsive type, and those who are tend to stress him out. He's the one looking for contingency plans and alternatives and working out escape routes before anything's even happened. He is not the kind to throw a fireball into a noble's house and run.

37: What are some ways your character acts silly? Vic always likes whatever bits of levity he can get, so it varies. He's happy to joke with his friends in whatever way comes up. The main example that comes to mind is stopping in the middle of crossing a river (with water walk) and trying to catch fish with his hands. Joseph,,, reluctantly. There's still definite effort being put in to maintain what little dignity he's got. 'Silly' is not an adjective he wants associated with himself. But he will stick to a bit. The stubbornness means he will always stick to a bit, even if it's stupid. Bo Is definitely cursed.

42: Is there something your character isn’t very good at, but enjoys doing nonetheless? Vic would claim he's not great at magic, which is objectively incorrect. He isn't that good at dancing (mostly for lack of practice) but definitely does enjoy that when he gets the chance Joseph is so...competitive, he's the type to get at least a little frustrated at anything he's not good at. I guess he does like his magic and definitely is not good at that. Apart from that......yea not much

what is their favorite thing to hold?

ori holds her journal so close to her whenever she can; it feels safe. it feels like it’s something about herself that she knows. it’s cover is worn leather, which is so nice to touch, and it’s stained with blood and ink, and it’s overflowing with pages, and it’s just... comforting.

anthe likes to hold beads--good texture, and she’s always ready to cast a tiny hut in a pinch, which is really nice and safe and it makes her know she’s less likely to see people hurt.

des likes to hold things made of cold metal; it reminds them of their mama and their sister and it makes them really happy! that they can find things that remind them of home even when they’re so far away kind of warms their heart.

what are three words they would use to describe themself?

ori’s are tough, insightful, and... gentle (she would hope. she’s not sure she believes it). anthe’s are curious, observant, and warm. des’ are chill, quiet, and friendly.

why do they fight?

all three of them fight because they think they deserve it. furthermore:

ori fights because if she can save people, maybe she herself will be redeemed. she fights because she knows she is good at it. she fights because the rush of adrenaline clears her mind for just a second. she fights because it’s what she’s always done.

anthe fights because it’s an outlet, and because she can help people, and because what else is she supposed to do? passivity bites at her and frustrates her to no end; she has to fight. she has to do something, she has to do what she is supposed to do.

des fights for the sake of goodness and healing; they’re not a violent person, but they think that chaos and hurt can facilitate growth and self-betterment. they fight for protection, and they fight for a want to be better.

how would they describe their party members?

ori & the arsonparty: in her mind, she sort of... views pen as a little brother, because. She Wants To Protect Him. So Badly. juniper as her First Ever Friend and also her Best Friend, and alba as like... well. she viewed alba as a threat until very recently, but now she sort of views him as, like. the weird, fucked-up, ultimately good-hearted older brother she never had. 

she’d call penance the type of person worth helping, and she’d call him sweet and funny and--not to his face--naïve.

she’d call junie someone in need of healing, someone who is much gentler than they think they are, someone warm. 

and alba, she’d call confusing, but principled and intelligent; she admires him in a lot of ways that she can’t quite phrase.

anthe and the dreamteam: what a can of worms! uh. let’s hit all of them, including those no longer with us. 

nev is a force for good, someone who is so, so smart and charming and who needs a hug and who absolutely deserves to go on a beach trip, and she is also so strong and good at talking and everybody loves her and they’re RIGHT. and anthe has normal feelings about her.

viconis is absolutely a mirror of herself in far too many ways. that she worries about constantly; she wants to help him learn to care for himself because he is the type of person who is worth caring for. 

noltelant is. nol. anthe has a lot of respect for nol and thinks that nol is absolutely someone who she was supposed to meet; they’re intertwined strings, and what have you. but nol is also... fucking nol. 

pat is confusing and smart and kind, and he kind of is a lot but in, like, a fun way. she likes how affirming he is. she’s fascinated by his backstory, and she wants to understand how he defines life.

raelian is cool and badass and anthe understands her curiosity, really, and also, she’s very smart, and she just has a cool energy.  she’s really vague, though? what’s her deal? there’s Mystery, there.

jhe is someone anthe genuinely cared quite a bit for, and she’s trying to come to terms with how to mourn after... everything that happened. 

ziggy is... someone she’s still angry at. she feels like he never really apologized to her, but rather tried to guilt her into forgiving him, and she doesn’t vibe with that. she has her Feelings and she’ll live with them.

des & the untitled heist crew: they barely know them! they think sephie is very sweet but her magic is kind of strange. aggie seems cool and has a very charming personality and so many ghost stories! erika is shady and kind of rude. bernard is interesting and seems fun, seems chill. good enough vibes. thistle is reckless but sweet and fun and cool to be around.

its time. viconis: i mean. vic’s her BOY. shes gotta watch out for him! she knows better than anyone except prolly anthe that vic is constantly consumed by his guilt and shes not gonna let him accept shitty things because of it. he's a good kid, and stood by her since the beginning. and he can learn magic from her now!!!! she can teach him!!!!!!! shes ecstatic man, she just has to keep him from driving himself into jail/death out of his own guilt :) but that's fine. its fine. she feels normal about the possibility of losing one of the few people she’s close to. also get better taste in men anthe: to quote you. anthe and nol are anthe and nol. shes always gonna be pretty mixed about anthe relying on divinity, and there's always going to be that paranoia that sticking with nev’s goddess means that if xalicas decides it, anthe will stick with nev and get rid of nol. but.... yknow, its been better lately! until it wasn't. nol understands anthe being fed up with the morally dubious actions nol takes, but she hates feeling like anthe doubts her planning and intelligence. its a huge source of pride for her and she will turn bitter and defensive on a dime if she thinks that its being insulted

nev: nol appreciates nev more now that nev took her side and understood her when she came clean about geas. re: paranoia about xalicas obviously because nev has never gone against anything xalicas has commanded/suggested and nol can’t trust anyone who follows godly instructions to the letter. but that's her. otherwise, shes been feeling pretty good towards nev lately raelian: nol... sees a lot of herself in raelian. that compulsion to do whats not acceptable to get answers, which certainly lent itself to nol’s mood being so bad then (along with. everything else and that being HER key). that desire to learn more and break rules and laws to do it. that threat from something and someone that won’t leave you alone and you don’t know how to deal with. where she trips up is that raelian has a bluntness and directness that nol’s own version clashes with. nol is direct and cuts to the chase to shorten needless conversations and maintain her own sense of superiority. raelian is blunt and direct with the ability to make people more honest around her about personal shit, like pulling vic’s personal thoughts out of him ziggy: ziggy is a symbol of nol’s success. ziggy is nol weaning him off of a god who doesn't seem to care, ziggy is nol proving that she’s better than the gods- shes at least more convincing, more *reliable*. shes been riding that high around him, but she doesn't really... like ziggy tbh. he's a wrench in plans, a constant unknown factor nol can’t plan around. he follows his whims and even when instructed not to doesn't ask other intelligent party members to see if his plans should actually be followed through
