SUCCESS! This is the video of me finally completing this level Climb to the beat after losing 66 lives. From having 99, that night. After giving up on my first playthrough where I lost around 50, lives or so. That was on the after noon. This was finally completed on Christmas eve at 1:00am in the morning after trying again.

I really wish I had taken the time to listen to my recorded cha cha cha cover now because now I want to actually share it I am painfully aware how dang low the lead vocal is in the final version 😅

#also stupid me forgot to save myself the appleton live file so I just have the bounced (final) tracks #so I have three options now:#1) record new lead vocals (and really annoy my neighbours) in a room not meant to record vocals #2) make a 'live' recording aka put the track on in my room and videorecord me sing it #(and so not use it as I hoped for bg music for speedpaint)#or 3) use it as it is and then you must suffer the same faith as me (living with a poorly mixed cha cha demo x'D)#micahs thoughts #personal

Bunte Farben, scharfe Kanten

Meine Frau und meine 19jährige Tochter waren krank und sind auf dem Wege der Besserung. Beide fühlen sich erstmals wieder gesund genug, einen Film anzuschauen, aber nichts Anstrengendes; und ihre Wahl fällt auf Disneys “Dornröschen”. Das ist im Prinzip kein Problem - irgendwann wurde eine umfangreiche Sammlung gebrauchter VHS-Kassetten voller Disneyfilme in unseren Haushalt gespült, und auch der Videorecorder steht noch an Ort und Stelle. Ich wollte ihn rauswerfen, als der Flachbildfernseher bei uns Einzug hielt - ich kann den Zeitpunkt leider nur schätzen, vielleicht 2011 oder so - wurde jedoch von der Familie vor die Wahl gestellt, ihn entweder wieder benutzbar zu machen, oder aber die gesamte Disneysammlung auf moderneren Speichermedien herbeizuschaffen. Also beschaffte ich ein gar nicht billiges Kästchen, das den analogen Video-Output per Scartkabel erhält und über HDMI digital an den Fernseher weiterleitet.

Aber ach, es will nicht funktionieren. Offensichtlich ist die Cassette selbst hinüber, denn Bambi und Dumbo funktionieren einwandfrei -nur wenn man die Dornröschen-Cassette einlegt, tanzt beharrlich der Schriftzug “no signal” über den grauen Bildschirm.

Wir recherchieren daraufhin nach dem Film im Internet, finden eine Lösung, ihn auf unseren Fernseher zu holen, und die Damen sind zufrieden. Es sei, sagen sie, ein ganz neues Erlebnis gewesen, den bekannten Film mit richtig bunten Farben und messerscharfen Kanten zu sehen, und nicht das pastellfarbene Ungefähr, das abgenudelte Videocassetten zu bieten haben.

Ich selbst schaue gar keine Videocassetten mehr, besitze aber einige (sehr wenige) Filme auf Festplatte, die ich vor Jahrzehnten aus dem Fernsehprogramm auf VHS aufgenommen und später digitalisiert habe, weil ich sie liebte und sie partout nirgendwo sonst aufzutreiben waren. Von diesen Digitalisaten kenne ich die pastelligen aufgeweichten Bilder, die für VHS-Inhalte typisch sind, sehr gut.

brief akira & (the prior) sages book thoughts i havent talked about in a long while but was thinking about again. while akira does bring it along a lot when they have over-the-night-trips to journal in, the first couple weeks they were bringing it along to Everything more so out of attachment & a feeling of home (in the early chs especially akira is like Constantly reading it). but as they start to feel more comfortable both in that world & with the wizards (&themself) they dont need that security as much. their phone & wallet had a similiar purpose, but considering both are Useless in that world, they eventually stop bringing them along at all (vs the sages book which they do use to document things).

&&considering akira knows their writing is going to be useless to anyone who doesnt speak japanese i like to think they make notes for whatever words they know of other languages? even if its just a single word they know thanks to a movie or something.

+its not as big due to how akira understands everyones speaking anyway, but i like to imagine them eventually getting a separate notebook to jot down names & words of that world for themself. like a lil glossary. cuz even if they cant read the language theyd at least like to be able to recognize everyones names (if not only their own so they dont have to helplessy look at the others for help...!)
