after figuring out how the money works here, and how to buy items from stalls that were too tall for them to properly reach, hedge had decided to make some... investments. for normal people, this might mean finding a proper weapon, survival gear, everything they need to survive in a strange and fantastical new world.

what it means for hedge is that all the money on their card was spent almost immediately on as many pre-potted seedlings as they were allowed to buy. a fair few had been dropped off in their apartment to give the place a little bit of life, but as for the rest...

well, right now they’re sitting outside one of the apartment buildings, handing potted sprouts to anyone coming or going. including, in this case, a sour-looking young man on his way out for the day.

“hey! hi!” hedge leaps to their feet, all not-quite-three-feet of them bouncing eagerly. “here, this one’s for you! it’ll grow into a beautiful little begonia!”

She seems to be busying herself with a fresh catch of game -- presumably one of those hunted beasts. It roasts over the open flame, basting in its own fat and a conundrum of forest spices. Certainly, countless concerns could be associated with eating this mystery meat, but she’s a craving for substance and the aroma is almost captivating. 

    Hunger does that to people; give them the illusion that something is far grander than it truly is. She thinks ‘people’, despite being a Servant, because her creation has evidently invited a stranger over. “...Would you like to sample it?” Addressing the presence behind her, she turns, coaxing them over to an empty plot of dirt. “I cannot claim to be the most adept at cooking, but I most certainly try.”

Hm, now what do we have here? Stranger seems pretty out of place in a city like this, looking as ragged as he does— out here in the forest, however, seems like it suits him perfectly. If that could be considered a compliment or an insult, is up for interpretation. Good thing that Joshua’s decided not to openly antagonize him...well, over that, at least. It’s not like him to not step on toes at all; if nothing else, he does so carefully in consideration of current circumstance ( you’d rather not have to handle too many foes at once ).

“Hee hee...that’s quite a cute weapon you have there. But you do know those pieces of plastic hardly seem threatening if we actually engage with anything...particularly dangerous. They’d probably snap the moment you try to stab someone.” Which, to be fair, might actually make them slightly viable weapons, albeit briefly so. Nor does he really have much place to talk, given that he’s hardly even got strength on his side right now. Composer at least seems contemplative before continuing to speak. “Brute muscle might make up for it, but...do you think demons really have much to fear? A civil approach might be called for more— unless, perhaps, you feel up to beast hunting?”

Eating human food was odd. He had done it on once or twice in the last fifty years, but it was never something he had actively gone to acquire when he could simply devour the souls of the demons he absorbed. Surely the math limitation would've been something good to know from the start but he supposes they will just have to make do for now. And what was their oh so troublesome predicament?? A snack machine. A petty one at that. Considering it had so sneakily taken his money without providing goods in return. Well it did make the effort to provide something but that snack was currently stuck pressed up against the glass and metal coil it was released from.

┫ Wei had asked the stranger for help once shaking the machine a couple of times did not work. The stranger's help only ended him with a still stuck snack {which now seemed to have some friends stacked upon it as company} and his own arm stuck within the machine.
