405: The bloodshot eyes t-shirt is by Horace and the jewel encrusted vest at the party is by Ashish. The print dress is from A Thousand Reasons. For her outfit in the park, the dress is from Primark, customized with sleeves made from an H&M scarf, Doc Marten boots, and a TopMan hoodie.
407: Effy’s top under her blazer is TopShop. The blazer is a tailored boy’s tuxedo jacket from the forties (found at Portobello Market), and the enamel badges on it are a mix of kitsch badges and Russian Revolutionary pins. She wears Levi 501’s and Doc Marten boots when she goes to see Freddie.
Skins Fire: Virtually everything is from TopShop, except for the pink cardigan, which is H&M, and the metallic color-block dress, which was Herve Leger.
Effy’s necklaces are “a mixture of old necklaces, rosaries and cheap gold chain which were cobbled together” from various flea markets and high street shops.
In general, Edward Gibbon, the costume designer has said that, “Effy loves shopping in unexpected places - other peoples houses / old ladies wardrobes / her gran’s charity bag and then she customises with scissors and a blowtorch!” and “Effy’s clothes are from all over the place - a lot of her t-shirts/short dresses are from Kokon To Zai on Greek Street in Soho and Concrete on Marshall Street”.
In terms of where to find the outfits, you’re kind of out of luck unless you set up alerts for the items on eBay and other resale websites. When looking for dupes, I try to describe the item as best I can (”silver sequin cowl neck top” or whatever), and then see which results are the most accurate. It’s not a foolproof method but usually it gets pretty close.

Fashion styles of my listeners -
Ari (The Freelancer):
They will wear pretty much anything. From hoodies to tuxedo jackets, dress skirts or ripped jeans. They don't care and it's fun seeing what they'll show up in next. Sometimes they'll steal clothes from Hux, Damien, Lasko or Gavin, meaning they could show up in a letterman jacket one day, a sweater vest the next and a crop top the day after that. One time they came in a full body inflatable dinosaur costume. There is no stopping Ari.
Aiko (Angel):
Aiko has a style. He wears designer, he wears pink, and he wears sparkles. Anything seen as 'feminine' can be found in his closet. His favorite outfit consists of a pink corset, blue denim skirt (because while he looks amazing in mostly anything he tends to wear skirts alot. Why? He looks good, that's why.), Black stockings, dark pink boots and David's leather jacket. David has to replace alot of jackets whenever Aiko decides to steal them.
Briar (Baaabe):
Briar takes inspiration from one of her idols in the fashion industry, Coco Chanel, and wears alot of vintage stuff. From dresses to skirts and even high heels, Briar can always be found rocking a glamorous 50s look. She commits to the style so much that she even does her hair in a 50s style. All in all, she's a complete vintage bombshell. (Asher finds it hot.)
Olethros (Sweetheart)
Professional and chic describe the man from Greece. Olethros owns alot of suits, alot of dress shoes and gloves and many ties. Milo jokes he looks like a spy, and that's not actually that far off. Olethros's idea of a casual outfit is a white button down with a black tie, black dress pants and shoes with a suit jacket hanging off his shoulders. He always looks like he's going to a meeting.
Artemis (Lovely)
I don't know how to describe it actually. Artemis on the daily wears a leather jacket bought by Vincent, what is essentially a light purple bikini top, black jeans and purple knee high boots. She also has various belts and necklaces, but that's usually it for her. She used to look like your average christian school girl before she left Greece, but upon coming to Dahlia she died her hair and said fuck that. Rebel girl.
Oliver (Darlin)
Oliver likes black and red. He's not emo, it's just easier for him to wear (to hide blood). He usually wears a transparent long sleeved top underneath a black sleeveless turtleneck, red punk pants (the ones with the chains) and one of Sam's plaid shirts. During his time with Quinn he was alot more wild with his clothes but now it's more.. contained punk. He also really likes leather jackets and pants. He has a motorbike for a reason!

Art Deco is a design era with geometric patterns and modernization of every day items. From cars, architecture, furniture, fashion and everyday household items, these designs told the world that you have style.
Let’s face it, men are difficult to shop for. Christmas, birthdays, anniversary, it doesn’t matter, their tastes are unique and if they want something very specific, they would probably prefer to purchase themself. But for the men appreciates something vintage, especially clothing, there is always the sure fire gift. The vintage tie. Vintage clothes already says I’m I’m looking to live in a world of uniqueness, quality and beauty. These vintage clothes have held up for decades, I still don’t have the sweater from last year. These ties are colorful, fun, and tell others that I have something to say, and these clothes are going to say it for me. That’s the purpose of fashion. However, to understand any vintage, cars, architecture, furniture, or clothing, it’s first best to know some of the history behind it.
History
The origin of the necktie comes from the 17th century Croatian soldiers who wore a piece of cloth around their neck as part of their military uniform. King Louis XIII liked the look of this and adopted it in to his kingdom and named it La Cravate. Different kingdoms added this look displaying their royal colors representing their castle almost like wearing a family crest or a flag on your chest. England’s King Edward VII developed a University system that each private schools had their own unique color on a tie identifying what school they attended, like the famous Oxford or Harvard ties. The Ascot tie is almost like a handkerchief around your neck , it was seen at high holidays and military ceremonies.
During the 1800s exclusive businessmen club’s had their crest patterns on their tie showing exclusivity of the organizations they belonged. In the American West the Bolo tie became popular with a long strand of braided leather with decorative metal tips secured with a piece of silver in the middle. The brown bow tie was a solution to the working class so it didn’t get in the way of machinery in factories, then colorful bow ties were adopted with the young upper class and and also with stage entertainers think of a barber shop quartet.
In the 20th century the black bow tie was used for the tuxedo. However most of the long neck ties were a simple one piece of cloth that after several years became flimsy and didn’t stay in place. Men began wearing vests with a suit keeping their tie tucked in and in place. Although there were several innovations of men’s neckties these changes came slow until something revolutionary happened in 1924.
the 1920's
In 1924 Jesse Langsdorf, a New York taylor cut a three angular segments of fabric and sewed them together creating the Langsdorf tie. These Langsdorf ties start out narrow and become wider at the bottom and end with a sharp triangle. Almost all modern ties are made this way today. Because these ties no longer needed to be tucked in into vests, jackets became wider, looser and evolved into the a more casual blazer. Different knots were introduced showing there are several ways to tie a tie.
The Duke of Windsor created the Windsor knot, and there is the Grantchester, slip knot and the Pratt tie. Soon men found new designs on their tie as an extension of one's personality and expresses emotion and mood. In the roaring 20s F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote in length about the clothes his characters wore. In the Great Gatsby he wrote about how Gatsby wore a white flannel suit, a silver shirt and a bright yellow tie. Nick Carraway wore a bow tie making him look more studious and junior like.
Jazz musicians in the 20s wore loud bright colorful ties some at the Harlem Apollo Theater painted their ties to reflect the lights while on stage. In the 1930s and early 40s The Zoot Suits was a comedy team at the Harlem’s Apollo Theater thought up by Ernest "Skillet" Mayhand. During his shows the dancing men wore a broad-shouldered drape jacket, balloon-leg trousers and a flamboyant hat with loud bright yellow silk ties.
These suits became popular with Hispanic and Cuban young men. In Los Angeles as young local men were sent off to fight in the war many Hispanic workers replaced their jobs and were often seen wearing these flashy suits around town. After there was a local unsolved murder Hispanic men wearing these suits were blamed causing a race riot known as the Zoot Suits Riot.
After WW2
After the war in the 1950s came an explosion space age shapes, fins on our cars, giant signs on bowling alleys and colorful triangles on our ties. In the 60s ties got narrow and darker colors. In the 70s fabrics of rayon and polyester became popular and ties became wide with muted earth colors of orange and browns.
In the 80s came a resurgence of the bright and colorful silk tie. Ralph Lauren got his start in the clothing business by selling ties in New York and moved up to be head of wardrobe on the Robert Redford’s version of the Great Gatsby. He opened a chain of stores along with Brooks Brothers and became a part of the fashion era of the young YUPPY professional 80s look combined with the style of a well dressed sporty looking man. Many 80s musicians wore skinny ties and in the 90s more of the character ties became popular, like a tie with Space Jams’s Bugs Bunny on it. Today men are wearing less ties in this casual world which makes us hold on to the vintage Art Deco ties with all the more reverence. Stella McCartney set up her show at the Marché Saxe-Breteuil. On Thursdays and Saturdays it’s a popular open-air market, with vendors selling fresh produce, fish, cheese, bread, and flowers. Today there were representatives from companies pioneering new fabric technologies like NFW Mirum, which makes plant-based leather, and Keel Labs, which produces seaweed-based fibers; stashes of vintage Stella McCartney clothes and stacks of old records; and a merch stall dedicated to Wings, her mum and dad’s band. The market opened up to the public after the show, and all the money raised from sales will go to charities aligned with McCartney’s anti–animal cruelty, responsible-design philosophies.
The Wings booth was the key to the collection, which was an exploration of her parents Paul and Linda McCartney’s complementary style. A Google dive reveals that the much-photographed couple often dressed alike, whether they were in ’70s pantsuits on their bikes, in matching satin baseball jackets in the back of a limo, or in trenches as they disembarked from a plane with a youthful Stella (or maybe her sister Mary) in their arms.
From her father (whose fab wardrobe is one of the many things that made Peter Jackson’s Beatles documentary such fun to watch) came the tuxedo shirts and cummerbunds and a terrific look that combined a willowy vest and full trousers with a white blouse trailing long poet sleeves. Her late mother was the horseback-riding, vegetarian-cookbook-author free spirit and a photographer and musician besides. The mirror-embellished dresses crocheted from Keel Labs’s seaweed-based yarn Kelsun and worn by both genders tapped into her rebellious streak. Elsewhere, the cape-like backs of tops and dresses made with taffeta from Nona Source, the LVMH-backed deadstock platform, seemed to have been designed to evoke wings, while the brocade short-shorts looked like stage-ready tour costumes.
McCartney’s press notes stated that 95% of the materials in the collection are “conscious materials.” There’s a growing consensus that sustainability no longer needs to be part of the conversation, that it’s a given. That couldn’t be further from reality. McCartney should keep drumming on about it until she’s not the only luxury designer who can stake a claim to stats like hers.
