Impmon Variations [2/4]

The next two for this little project are  Dark Area and Virus Buster Impmons!  Original impmon is usually tagged as nightmare soldier and not dark area so it makes sense to make one, even tho those 2 fields feel pretty redundant to me hah  I guess dark area are the actual EVIL ones, like demon lords and such, as opposed to just monster looking little guys hah Virus Buster is inspired a lot by gargoylemon/gargomon and their lore which I find super interesting and cool lol

CUTEMON:

A mischievous and peppy but timid Fairy Digimon that lives in cold areas. Although they may look like large rabbit-ears, it has not ears, but a kind of sense organ with which it can sense the approach of other Digimon in no time. Thanks to this, it is extremely rare to catch sight of Cutemon, because it will immediately hide itself. If you do happen to catch sight of one, it is either a rare fortune, or Cutemon is mischievously luring you into a trap. Its trademark muffler is beyond imagination with its insulating properties, as it is very warm. If you are able to obtain one, you can call yourself lucky. It has the ability to heal wounds, and if it's in the vicinity of an injured Digimon, it will come closer, taking care not to be noticed, and heal that Digimon. Its scratches and cuts are already healed before it realizes what's going on, due to Cutemon's cute and mischievous nature.

Gary i need to post about hypothetical aspects of a single barely-finished mechanic in deltarune’s battle system 

#its weird because a lot of elements suggest the whole system was made for jokes initially #which is why a lot of them would be so specific and only used once like Puzz(le) #but the same chapter the element system was added in is ALSO the same one that started trying to make them actually have effect #if only in currently very specific battles. #its like they made their joke element system to fill out the recruit info and then were like Oh wait this is cool. b’elanna and chakotay get drunk one night just the two of them and she ends up showing him tom’s captain proton x buster kincaid slashfic (which she found while doing a deep clean of the ship’s computer after the doctor downloaded a virus via clicking on a “meet hot singles in your area” ad) and it’s of course the funniest shit ever to them and they spend the rest of the evening laughing at tom’s cheesy prose and blatant self-insertionism. chakotay later tells seven about this during one of their tom hate seshes and she immediately hacks into tom’s files to read it herself, which leads to her constantly quoting the more lurid bits of description from it in front of tom as a fun way of tormenting him. she’s like “ensign kim did you know your buster kincaid outfit accentuates the muscular curve of your posterior extremely well?”. harry just laughs it off as seven being seven but tom gets all weird and territorial about it because despite jerking it to said fanfic every morning noon and night the references fly right over his head and he instead thinks seven’s trying to hit on harry

BAKUMON: A Digimon which has the appearance of the Baku, said to be a dream-eating mythical beast. It is thought that it is a Digimon that was generated from a medical computer for detecting brain waves, and it seems that it uses the data from humans in REM sleep as nourishment. In recent studies, it has been proven that it has the power to purge particularly bad nightmares and malignant computer viruses. Also, since it has the ability to change the captured nightmares and viruses back to normal, it is considered a holy Digimon. There is surely some kind of connection between that sacred, unique ability, and the "Holy Ring" which it wears on its foreleg.

This is Pukumon, a Mega/Ultimate stage Digimon of the virus type, and though it may often be overlooked, there's something kinda interesting about it.

So, there was a series of Digimon v-pets called "Digimon Pendulum", and they each had a particular theme. The series consisted of "Virus Busters", "Nature Spirits", "Wind Guardians", "Nightmare Soldiers", "Metal Empire", and "Deep Savers".

Pukumon was a part of the Deep Savers v-pet, fitting with the theme of fish/sea animals.

As you can see here, Pukumon was one of three final forms your Digimon could take, representing virus type. And yes, there's also MetalSeadramon there, representing the data type.

And of course MetalSeadramon is well known for being one of the four Dark Masters, a group of very powerful villains from the Digimon Adventure anime, and other Digimon media.

Actually, each member of the Dark Masters is from the Digimon Pendulum series of v-pets. Puppetmon being from Wind Guardians, Machinedramon from Metal Empire, and Piedmon from Nightmare Soldiers. The odd thing though is that of all the Dark Masters, MetalSeadramon is the only one that isn't a virus type. As mentioned before, MetalSeadramon is a data type, which is a somewhat odd choice for a villainous Digimon, and makes it stand out amongst the others.

The conclusion I'm obviously building to here is that Pukumon should have been the fourth Dark Master, not MetalSeadramon. This punk pufferfish was snubbed! lol

Not only that, but Pukumon hasn't had a significant role in ANY Digimon anime EVER! And that is truly a crime, because this Digimon has so much character, and is much more interesting to me than MetalSeadramon, which doesn't seem to have much identity other than being generally cool. Piedmon is a devious and theatrical evil clown with weaponized stage magic. Puppetmon is basically an evil Pinocchio made from the wood of a cursed tree. Even Machinedramon has an interesting angle as basically being a mechanical chimera made from various cyborg Digimon parts.

As for Pukumon itself? Its official backstory states it's "a British Punk Digimon that was born when Britain's strongest hacker caused a mutation in a computer virus in which they had poured all the knowledge they possessed." It's also said to have a huge ego, and is constantly picking fights. Best of all, one of its special moves is literally called "Britain Punch"! XD

I guess they ultimately picked MetalSeadramon over Pukumon because it's larger and more intimidating, but I can't help but feel we were seriously robbed of having a hilarious and badass British punk blowfish on the Dark Master team!
