Vitya

I sometimes (a LOT) think about Victor. I think about that bone-deep exhaustion we see come across his face when not even a minute after the gold medal ceremony, he's being asked about his next program.

I think about how lonely it must be, being an untouchable idol held to a standard with no one there to share it with him.

I think about those moments, his dog the only being in the world he lets in all the way, wondering when his world started to look gray. When "strength must be found on your own" became a slow and monotonous march toward misery.

When skating stopped feeling like a passion.

I think about Victor wondering what ever happened to Yuuri Katsuki, who got drunk and danced with him, who proclaimed be my coach only to disappear into the ether again, even though Worlds was in Tokyo.

I think about that trudge, when Victor is looking at two programs that both don't feel quite right, hearing about Yuri Plisetsky the new Russian phenom, who Victor obviously would be passing the baton to. How much more lonely that would be.

I think about Victor, sitting by himself at his apartment, snuggling his dog and watching Yuuri Katsuki suddenly blow up his phone again with a rendition of Stay Close to Me.

And remembering Be My Coach

I think about Victor's butterflies leaping from his stomach as he rehearses the perfect opening line, naked in the Katsuki onsen.

Then I think about Victor, adopted by the Katsukis and Hasetsu, falling in love, and watching as Yuuri falls in love in kind, not with the mask, not with the idol, not even with the skater.

With Vitya.

OKAY BUCKLE UP PARTY PEOPLE

As one of tumblr’s resident figure skaters and Yuri on ice fans, I will be explaining the different skate boots and blades we see here. Also subsequently assigning what I think our podium family would wear based on age and everything.

Starting with our dear Vitya,

I am sorry to say, but based on his age and that this was set in 2016. That would put Victor as someone born in 1988, that means he grew up surrounded by Reidells and Jackson Ultima shoes. Based on the width of his foot I would wager that he wears Jackson’s ($800+) with a Custom John Wilson gold seal blade ($709+) since yk they don’t actually come in gold.

Yuuri would be born in 1993, our dear Millennial. He would for sure be sporting the same Jackson Ultimas ($800+) that we see on Viktor, because our boy will do ANYTHING to be like him. But until he gets enough sponsors to afford gold seal blades ($709), I think he might go for the John Wilson pattern 99’s. It’s less expensive, and you can find more second hand.

Yura born 2001, our older gen Z child (even though we’d be the same age bc I am also a 2001 baby). Oh boy don’t get me started, his boots would FOR SURE be Edea’s ($1000), he would want to have the cutting edge advantage on everything. Edea is a fairly new brand having started in 2002 Italy. And his blades would be John Wilson MK phantom revolution ($719), purely based on the name because he’d think it sounded cool.

Sunlight Daze

Simple Morning musings. This is not proof read whatsoever.

Sunlight poured through the window, pooling on the sheets like liquid gold, splashing onto pillows and spilling all over the pale expanse of Viktor’s chest. It was rare that you woke and he was still in bed. Usually, you’d barely get a glimpse of him leaving through sleep dazed eyes as he pressed a gentle goodbye to your forehead before heading off to the labs. 

He deserved to sleep in, even just a little bit. Though it was more like he was getting a normal and healthy amount of sleep. You were sure it was already well into the morning by the time you’d felt him settle into the sheets. 

Your eyes lingered on the darkening circles under his eyes that seemed to grow with every passing day, a stark contrast to the pallor of his face. It was hard not to worry, especially when he refused to take care of himself. He was so focused on helping others with Hextech he seemed to forget that you couldn’t pour from an empty cup. 

He stirred as your fingers brushed along his cheek to move a stray strand of hair. A smile spread across your lips as he nuzzled into your hand, seeming to seek your warmth and comfort even in depths of sleep. 

He looked so relaxed for once. No furrow in his brow from the constant calculations he had to be making in his mind. No rush to save the world. You wished it could last forever. 

“Mm…” His face scrunched before breaking out in a yawn. Like a cat. His eyes fluttered open slowly, still hazy with remnants of sleep. They were even more golden than the sunlight. Perhaps he was made of it. 

“Good morning, sleepy head,” You whispered.

“What time is it?” It was a crime you didn’t get to hear his morning voice more often, deep and rumbling in his chest. 

“9-ish… I think” 

His eyes widened as he shot up, you quickly pressed him back down into the bed with a hand to his chest. You tutted softly, trapping him between your arms. 

“But I—…The lab!” 

“Jayce will understand, besides… It's the weekend. You’re not even required to work.” 

You laughed as a pout formed on his lips. For all his intelligence, he was stubborn as a mule when it came to work. He put a hand on your cheek, his thumb rough and calloused as it swept across your skin. 

“You wouldn’t abandon me for the labs would you?” You batted your eyelashes, leaning in close. His nose playfully nudged against yours. Lips brushed against lips. 

“I don’t think you would let me even if I tried.” 

“Mm, you know me too well, love.” A slight movement was all it took to kiss him gently. A plea. 

“Stay?” 

He stared at you with those sun filled eyes, a look so gentle it made your heart squeeze. 

“… I suppose it wouldn’t hurt.”

This “friend-of-Vi” turns out to be Caitlyn who sends you to a friend she has, Jayce, who happens to be friends and work partners with the person you’ve been looking for this whole time.

By the time you arrange to meet this friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend, you are already beyond tired and annoyed. Your expecting this overly strict, sophisticated old Lord who has mastered the ways of magic and instead find, Viktor.

A tall slender man, barely that much older than you surrounded by books and papers sprawled around his work area. According to Jayce this is the mighty sorcerer who can help solve your troubles. This man who looks like he hasn’t slept in 8 days is one of the greatest kinds of your generation.

You wanted to scream. Not only was the aid you sought the speculated successor to Professor Heimerdinger, but it was literally someone you, A STUDENT, would of had easy access to because he was ALWAYS IN THE LIBRARY.

Thank you so much aAAAA and ty for the request!! This us just a concept doodle before I actually make fanart of it 👀

Let me explain my reasoning behind this design:

• First of all, although I think all the designs where he has a metal jaw or just shiny eyes DO look very cool aesthetically, however thinking about Viktors actual purpose I doubt he would enhance parts of his face at random. I do believe the two things that he would find "faulty" in his head anatomy are his eyesight and hearing, so I think that's what he would try to replace first. This design is closer to what I think he would look like in a prototype stage, perhaps between Arcane seasons 1-2 and the final machine herald design, where he has only successfully installed the headpiece on one side!

• secondly, I kept thinking about the mask and it really didn't seem like him to want to "hide" his facial enhancements with a mask while he has the bionic arm and other prosthetics very visible. With that in mind I think the only reason he would want to use a mask would be if he had some sort of disfiguring or scars from failed attempts to install these enhancements, and that's why I added some scars hear the eyes, nose and jaw!

(I think he would also need to shave the sides of his hair to install the hardware, hence the hair length difference on the left side!)

• haven't thought about what I think the outfit/arm prosthetic would look like on earlier stages but I don't think it would be too far off from his og league design so I'll figure that out once I make a full piece!!
