Hi sweetie, please don’t feel obligated to answer if you don’t want to but I was wondering if you could tell me your favourite part of mexican culture? From all the posts I’ve seen of my mexican mutuals it seems like a beautiful and very interesting country and I think maybe we should celebrate that in light of what happened!
I actually really like this question, thank you anon 💛 and well as you said, Mexican culture is very extensive so it’s hard to pick just one thing but if I had to I’d choose 1. The food, 2. The music, 3. The art.
When I say the food know I don’t necessarily mean tacos, if you go to many authentic restaurants around the country you actually might not find them in the menu. The food varies a lot all over the country actually, but my absolute favourite dish is this thing called molotes which are like fried plantain balls with mole and they’re just glorious. Mole in and of itself is glorious.

As for the music I really do love mariachi, I love a good mariachi song and there’s so many of them with lyrics so deep you will definitely cry when singing them. It’s also so fun when you go to a wedding and it’s 4 am and suddenly the mariachis arrive and everyone’s drunk and happy and tired off their ass but we get up to dance anyways. However I also love cumbias and many pop or rock singers through the ages like José José or Mijares or Julieta Venegas or of course Juan Gabriel.
And as for the art it’s too difficult to talk about all of it because there’s so many talented artists from Mexican descent, but my favourites are the muralists! Not really Diego Rivera but I really like Orozco and Siqueiros. I also love the architecture you can find in the historical parts of most cities and I do love the ancient ruins you can visit in places like Teotihuacan and Uxmal and Palenque.

Mexico is also one of the most biodiverse countries in the world so it’s insane how many different environments and animals and plants you can find here. You can travel an hour from Mexico City and go climbing on snowy mountains or you can travel three hours and go to the beach or you can travel five hours and go to the jungle.

It’s the most beautiful country in the world, on God.
