1) What's the whole purpose/ point of VK day in the first place? I found it dumb and 2) Why there's pics of the core 4 (like Carlos, a friend to the friendless for example)at the Isle and them choosing which VK should come to Auradon when it should be Ben?? I don't get it.

In my opinion, there really isn't a point/purpose to VK Day. In Escape, they do try to justify it with how none of the Isle kids wanted to apply to leave the Isle for Auradon, but...yeah, let's not get into why Escape's treatment of the Isle kids situation just reeked Auradon shoving all responsibility to leave the Isle onto the kids trapped in the abusive situation Auradon left them in in the first place...already ranted about this aspect in Escape before... Back to how Escape used this though to justify VK Day, they thought VK Day could maybe encourage the kids to apply because if four specific ones are chosen- this wasn't apart of VK Day in the book, four was the number Ben (yes they made Ben OOC...like he would not be the one saying let's take twenty VKs...) and Mal agreed on- they will get what villains want: fame, aka they'll be famous because they are chosen and celebrated as we see with VK Day, as in book, Evie says: "The four chosen kids will be celebrated with a huge, kingdom-wide feast that will be bigger and more speculator than anything anyone has ever seen." (Let's ignore them including a huge feast as a way to encourage kids to apply...aka good food which the Isle doesn't have...), while Mal adds on: "We'll have the royal family, the royal family..."- so basically, Escape was like, "We gonna tempt them with being celebrated and being famous and also food cause apparently auradon can't send good supplies while the kids wait to be chosen..."

The film however...doesn't give any idea to what VK Day is beyond kids applying to leave their abusive situation and Mal and co getting to pick for some reason and somehow Dizzy, who was invited back in D2, gets picked, two spots are literally filled by fucking twins implying twins would have been split up by VK Day if both won't picked and Celia, whose basically the only one they single out for goodness class...and...that's it on the choices, the film doesn't even specify why just four when the idea of the core four was to show this program can work...

As for the posters....again, in film, its not specified what the fuck they are beyond I guess adding to VK Day and basically making the core four look like they got egos, especially when Mal is referred to as a hero for all Isle kids (that didn't age well very quickly into the film). But again, Escape tries to justify this with how after talking with Doug about thinking of ways to welcome the kids, Evie in a meeting with Mal, Jay, Carlos and Ben as a way to drum up interest: "I was thinking I could take some photos of us, and we could use them to make posters and put them all over the island. Kind of aspirational! Like, 'You too could grow up to be Mal!'" (A rule of Escape: at any given chance, Mal must be worshipped/praised and shit, cause god forbid she isn't praised for five minutes...). Like, its basically an attempt at encouraging kids...but again, its stupid in film, it comes off as egotistical and Escape does not help with it being Evie's idea, including praising them.

I mean, bold to suggest Ben can do anything in Descendants 3. He can't even disagree with Mal's decision in the film without being cornered into agreeing with it by Mal and his dad. Let alone have any say in VK Day despite being the guy who came up with the program that brought kids over to Auradon.

Imagine you're a regular 70 year old Hungarian guy, who, after a satisfactory career as an electrical engineer, has finally retired and is spending his days in peace. I know I'm asking you to get bored even in your imagination but bear with me. It's about to get fun…

So this one day, some photographer, who happened to see a picture of you vacationing, on a social media site, approaches you for a photo shoot and you comply, because there's nothing much to do.

You then proceed to upload some of your photos on Google, to see how stock photos work…

..and who uses it. (Uh oh) Because now, things start escalating…

While you're sitting in your home, punctually maintaining your routine of getting bored, there's some random guy on some random part of the world, who looks at your stock photo and finds immense potential in it, in your face, in your smile. (And no, he's not gay)

The potential for the next revolutionary meme. He posts it on Facepunch.

And fortunately for him (unfortunately for you), the meme clicks. So much so, that a Facebook page called “Maurice”, springs up, which gets 10k likes in no time.

When you first see your meme, you find it offensive, but there's nothing you can do about it, so you let it go (thinking that it'll die soon). But you duly warn your acquaintances to be more wary the next time they upload their photos on the internet.

But alas, you're already on your way to the list the most famous memes of all time. There are people on 4chan, who, in a thread dedicated just for you, start theorising that you must be some sad old man who has to work as a stock photography model. Then, an Imgur user goes on to compile notable quotes from the above 4chan thread into a gallery post titled “Hide-the-pain-Harold”, which garners more than 8,80,000 views in just three weeks.

You are now a classic meme template.

Eventually, you decide to publicly recognise yourself on a Russian social media site called “VK”.

You transcend from being bits on the Internet, to actual prints on a coffee mug, on a skirt! Documentaries are made, and articles are published about you. There's a random Quora user who nominates you as one of the most accidentally famous person from Hungary.

People start recognising you on streets. Some of them now want to get a picture taken with you. You're a celebrity for wrong reasons. After having lived 70 peaceful years as a harmless guy, you've become world famous - as a painter, as a singer, as whatever the next notorious meme maker wants you to be.

You are Arató András, the meme guy. Every single time a stranger recognises you, you acknowledge it with a smile, but there's an inevitable pain which just cannot be hidden.

Smart one

You were up studying for a test, strange maybe for your other vk peers except for Carlos, but you cared about your academics and liked to do well academically. Halfway through your notes you heard someone start knocking hard on your window, it was Jay Al Jafar, one of your closest friends and the boy you had the fattest crush on. Not like you'd admit that, though. You rolled your eyes as you got up and opened it.

"Man, how many times do I have to tell you not to knock so damn hard, Jay." You scolded as the long haired boy climbed through your window, grinning.

"Yea yea, 'It's held together by broken hopes and dreams.'" He quoted as he walked further into your gloomy room before sitting on the dilapidated footboard of your bed and crossing his arms as he gazed at you with his signature smile. Rolling your eyes again, this time with an additional head shake and a smile. You sat back down at your desk and started your studying again.

"What do you want Jay ?" You asked but it sounded more like a statement, earning a pout from your dark haired friend.

"How lowly do you think of me to think that I came over to see you just because I wanted something from you ?" Jay pouted as he feigned hurt before a charming smile overtook his again as he walked over to the run down desk you sat at

"Very. Now what do you want ?" You questioned again not bothering to look up at Jay, who was now standing next to you, his hands planted firmly on the desk as he looked down at you.

"Anthony got this new watch, I want it." Jay confessed with his signature smile, the smile that you loved hated. "And he's throwing a hellraiser tonight."

"I'm not going to a party just to help you steal his watch." You told him flatly continuing to look down at your tattered text book and notes that smelled of mildew.

"Oh c'monnn, you owe me anyway." Your head snapped up to him upon hearing his words. You didn't owe Jay shit.

"I don't owe you shit, Jay." You asserted pushing back in your chair to cross your arms across your chest. Jay chuckled before moving his face closer to yours.

"Oh come one, just this once ?" Jay pleaded, looking at you with the prettiest brown eyes you swore you ever saw.

Hiding the flustered feeling you feel at his proximity you spoke.

"Oh, just this once ? You know it funny because I remember you said that when you asked me to try to steal one of Cruella's coats ? Oh, or when you tried to steal from Gothel and you got me to distract her ? Oooo, or what about the time you tried to convince me to sneak you into-"

Jay cut you off before you could finish the long list of "Just this once's"

"Okay okay, so it's not just this once but I swear it's worth it."

You stare at him with a bored expression as he talks

"And why is that Jay ?"

"Uh, because you get to spend time with me."

"Get the fuck out Jay."

"Come on, you know you want to spend time with me."

His voice sing-songy

You wanted to spend time with him, bad. Like embarrassingly bad. You'd never admit that though.

"Nah, I'm good."

You rejected

"C'mon... please ?"

Jay begged as he grasped at your hands, and VK's never said "please."

"Fine, but you owe me Al Jafar ."

You asserted as you stood, a finger pointed at his chest

When you got to Anthony's party it was already in full swing. The lights were dim and moody, the music was blaring and kinda shitty because of the busted speakers that the people of Auradon threw away to the people of the isle, and the air smelled of mold, sweat, and expired perfume along other expired hygiene products. Bodies danced and grinded, others stood in corners and chatted or tried their best look as evil and pretentious as possible.

"What now Jay ?"

You questioned as you looked around at the party that went on before you

"Gotta find Tremaine."

Jay answered as he grabbed you hand and walked into the party.

You felt your stomach leap as he made contact with you, frantically looking down where you two were now connected, then smiled to yourself small-ly

The two of looked around for three minutes tops, Jay still holding your hand, before he turned around to you.

"Can't find him, wanna dance ?"

He offered casually.

"We looked for less than five minutes."

"And we couldn't find him, so do you want to dance."

With a roll of your eyes, you agreed and began to dance.

"Was this your plan all along, Al Jafar ?"

"You really are a smart one, huh?"
