Sometime in Summer, Before 2004

set in ‘intrinsic warmth’ canon, because I needed to write something happy and I thought I should share it <3

Satoru can’t believe you don’t remember when you met him.

“This means you hate me,” he says to you, one day, in the Chapel. It’s mid-July, hot and sticky, and the weight of the heat in the air has made him lazy.

He’s got a white shirt on, and he’s pretty sure he’s got some sweaty patches there—if he was with someone else, Satoru would put in some effort to hide them, because someone else would probably think it was gross, but it’s you, and so he doesn’t need to. He likes that about you: it’s one of the many things he likes about you. You know him so well that he doesn’t care about things like that anymore. After all—Satoru flattens his hair down over his forehead—you don’t care about his new haircut, which he hates more than anything anywhere at anytime ever.

Satoru’s lying on his back with his hands behind his head, staring up at the ceiling with hazy eyes. His sunglasses are crooked on his nose, and he pushes them up.

A few days ago, he’d used Limitless to try to throw a pillow at you, but he’d overshot it and accidentally blown a hole in the ceiling. He does feel bad, just a little, mainly because you haven’t stopped talking about how cold the winters are going to be. Satoru would like to tell you that you can just get close to him for warmth, but he hasn’t mentioned it because he’s such a good friend.

He thinks about that, maybe more than he should. He would like it if you could get over your whole touch thing, because he wants to be able to touch you. Sometimes, in the winter, he’ll see you shivering on your own, this huge divide between the two of you, and he just wants to put his arm around you and stop you from being so cold.

You’re always telling him how much of a heat radiator he is—my space heater, you say sometimes, which Satoru likes, because he likes it when you say things to him like that, like you’re staking a claim on him, that he’s your best friend, and it’s not only that you’re his—and so he figures that you should just shuffle closer sometime, and it’d be fine. Satoru hasn’t ever really touched you, and so he doesn’t know what it’s like: and he knows nearly everything in the whole world, so he wants to find out what it’s like at some point.

“You hate me,” he says again, when you don’t respond to him. Satoru looks over at you, pouting. “Why do you hate me?”

You’re cross-legged, leaning against the wall of the Chapel, flicking through a Vogue magazine. You roll your eyes and tut.

“I don’t hate you.”

“Yes, you do.” Satoru makes a big display of being really, really sad. He does this sometimes, because sometimes it’ll prompt you to say something a bit more overt, in terms of your friendship with him.

Satoru tells you all the time how much he likes you, how much of a good friend you are to him, how cool you are and how amazing you both are—but you’re more reticent with your feelings, and so he has to treasure every single time you say something like that.

He doesn’t think you know that he does it on purpose, but at the same time, you have these crazy psychic powers that you can always find things out about him. Satoru often thinks that you can read his mind—you can just look at him, and you know exactly what he’s thinking. It’s kind of spooky, but he’s okay with you having those superpowers, if it’s just you.

And it’s not like you’re going to use it for anything bad. You’re too cool to do that, and you like him. Which is really cool. You like him.

Except he’s pretending you hate him, which is funny.

“I don’t,” you say. You stop reading the Vogue—success! Satoru has claimed your attention—and start fanning yourself with it. “I just don’t remember everything in the world, Gojo.”

“It’s not everything in the world! It’s the first time we met. That’s important!”

“I remember the second time we met. That was more impactful, anyway.”

“How?” Satoru doesn’t understand that at all. “But you’d just met me! How was that not impactful?”

“I didn’t know you’d want to talk to me again,” you say, shrugging. “So, when you did, it was surprising. That’s what I remember.”

Satoru makes a face, scrunching up his nose. “Of course I’d want to talk to you again.”

“I didn’t know that.”

“Course I would!” Satoru groans and then sits up, making a heaving sound. He pushes his glasses into his hair and pulls up the bottom of his shirt to wipe his sweaty face. “Agh. Too hot. Too hot, and you don’t remember when we first met, and I’m too hot!”

He looks over at you, feeling a bit petulant. You’ve stopped looking at him, and you’re focusing back on the magazine. You’re not even reading it properly—he can tell, since your eyes aren’t moving. Weird. Satoru groans again, to get your attention back, and you press your lips together.

“Hebi-Hebi,” he says. “Hey. Hey. Look at me. Look at me.”

You do. Satoru grins.

“You’re so mean to me,” Satoru says, and he rolls over to his stomach to get a bit closer to you. “So mean. How are we going to celebrate our best-friendiversary?”

You choke. “What?”

“It’s a thing,” he says, grin widening. “I’m pretty sure it’s a thing. When we became friends!”

“Shouldn’t that be when we became best friends?” you ask. You tilt your head against the wall, seeming to actually consider it. “There’s a difference between a friendiversary and a best-friendiversary, surely.”

“Oooh. Yeah, maybe.”

“So we should remember a date for our best-friendiversary instead.” You hum, thoughtful. “That would be nicer, since that’s more important.”

“So you’re saying we’re best friends?” Satoru asks, goading.

You raise your eyebrows. “Of course we are.”

You say it like it’s obvious. Satoru feels all glowy inside.

“Of course.” Satoru drags out the words, feeling how it sounds in his mouth. “Of coouurse. Of course we are! And you know what?”

“What?”

“Best friends,” he says, waggling his eyebrows at you, “should remember when they first met!”

You blow a burst of air through your lips, clearly pretending to be unamused. For all of your psychic superpowers about figuring out his thoughts, Satoru thinks he can read you pretty well too. It’s funny when you pretend to be all aloof and not like him, when it’s obvious that you actually really really do.

“You’re so annoying,” you say to him. Satoru laughs, and your lips twitch.

Ha-ha! Another success!

Satoru likes it when he can make you smile. It doesn’t happen all that often at all, and so when he manages it, it’s a huge success. It’s one of the best feelings in the world, he thinks, when he can make you smile. It’s only trumped by the times when he can make you laugh, which then is only trumped by the times you call him by his first name.

Satoru is Satoru, but you only ever call him Gojo. Which, yeah, is his name, but it’s also his name to everyone else—everyone else in the world thinks of him as Satoru Gojo, from the Gojo family, heir to the Gojo technique, which is really cool sometimes, but also really annoying and kind of not cool.

But to you, he should be Satoru. You’re the only person that he’s ever met that he’d want to call him Satoru. And so, when you don’t, he feels strange. You tell him often that he needs to get used to not always getting what he wants, but Satoru doesn’t think that he should have to, not really. In his opinion, everything would be better if he could get what he wanted all the time.

“So mean to me,” Satoru says again, without much gusto, because the day’s getting even hotter and he can’t really summon the energy to play out your usual routines.

You seem to be getting tired, too. You’re watching him with a funny look on your face, but your eyelids are drooping and you keep blinking all slowly, the way you do when you’re sleepy.

“Sure,” you say, yawning.

“Can’t believe you admit it.”

“Mmhm.”

“Can’t believe—” Satoru stifles a yawn: he caught it from you. “��that you don’t remember. I remember, Hebi-Hebi.”

“You should tell me, then.” You shuffle down until you’re lying next to him. You’re on your side, looking at him with a faint smile playing across your lips. Satoru feels glowy again. “Remind me, about the first time we met.”

“Should I?” Satoru asks, not caring about hiding his smirk. “Would you like that?”

“Maybe.”

“Then,” Satoru says, as he turns onto his side too, so you look like two mirror images of each other, if someone was looking down from the Chapel ceiling, “I’ve just got to, haven’t I? If you’d like it, then I’ve got to do it.”

Your lips press together, and then all of a sudden you’re smiling, big and wide, the way you barely ever smile in front of him. Satoru feels his stomach swoop. He loves it when you smile. My best friend, he thinks. Mine.

“I guess you have to,” you whisper, and you’re almost shy, almost hesitant. You know that you don’t need to: Satoru, surely, by now, has made sure of that. He’s spent his whole life trying to make you happy, all of his life that he’s enjoyed living. He doesn’t think that there’s anything he wouldn’t do for you, if you wanted him to. He’s certain you know that by now.

“Then I will.” Satoru brings up a hand between your bodies, and he loves how you don’t move away from him, the way you do to everyone else. You trust him, more than anyone in the world. This is what he loves, too: just as much as you are his favourite, he is yours.

Satoru rests his head on his arm, and settles in for a story; you’re watching him, with soft, affectionate eyes, and he is more happy than he ever has been. He keeps thinking that, when he’s with you. And, every time he sees you, he thinks it again. Here you are, listening to him, devoting your attention to him wholly, and you’re the best person he’s ever known.

“So,” Satoru says, so determined to keep your eyes on him, to keep your focus for ever and ever and ever, “it was a few months before my seventh birthday, and I didn’t know that I would be meeting my favourite person in the world.”

If you don't mind, could you do Athanasia headcanons in a modern au? ❤️ I really like the creativity that you put into your headcanons and say something more about her fashion, the athy from the manhwa used many hairstyles so I always felt that she cared a lot about fashion (like make up, hair accesories, jewelry, skincare) I want to know what you think about that

Ooooh more Athy headcanons?? Delighted! (I'm so glad ppl are liking the modern au, so here we goooo!!!!)

I feel like she'd just have good genetics, so skincare(expensive or otherwise) is usually gifted to her but she rarely uses them (on the other hand, she could be like those celebrity Vogue videos where they slather on every expensive cream known to mankind so either or lmao)

She's a jewelry girlie, and she accessorizes on the daily using rings that could range anywhere from minimalistic for school, like thin gold or silver bands. For when she follows her dad to business meetings, she would wear discreet name brand ones, and maybe her earrings would be a flashy brand to signal everything else she's wearing is of the same caliber.

I think she would prefer practical jewelry that she can wear into the water, but also, she would be the type to methodically arrange, take-off, and clean the jewelry she wore that day.

Specific gemstones she likes would probably be rubies, sapphires(pink and blue), diamonds, and she enjoys gold as the main material for her jewelry over all else.

Make-up is probably less is more for Athy, she doesn't need it and she knows that, but during school she'll wear minimalistic eye-liner to create more depth and choosing between the shades of pink gloss for her lips would give her lots of joy.

Hair accessories would be anywhere from pastel hair ties with little charms dangling at the ends if she has her hair up in a ponytail/pigtails or simple, black velvet ribbons woven through her hair if she has braids or with a pop of color here and there using flowers and mini gold clips if her hair is flowing free down her back.

Fashion-wise, per my last post, I believe she'd be old-money during formal occasions(let's think black skirts, white/navy tops, dark tights and slingback kitten heels, a gold, pearl strand watch and simple studs in her ears), vs school(usually sneakers, pleated skirts of a variety of colors, a bracelet band smartwatch, lowkey jewelry) or going out (jeans/skirts, boots or sneakers, a leather band watch, flowy tops.)

The one thing that has always confused me about Kelly is what did she actually wanna do with her life.

You have her a 13/14 starting to do modelling, although she did only get it cause of her Dad that's how lots of nepo babies start. instead of pursuing that, which would have been a great time to start her modelling career she moved to England for School then back to Brazil to complete her high school studies.

So at this point she'd left modelling behind and decided to go to college in the US. At college she studied International Relations with an emphasis on political science and economics, so a very social science topic. She had intentions of working for the UN but when found out how difficult it was, instead of working towards it (or something similar) decide to pursuit something else.

According to her linkedin after graduating she moved into the fashion industry, first interning as a Couture buying for a fashion office, then as an assistant stylist at Vogue Latin America (which if she stayed at could of moved up through the company) and then to a publicly intern for another fashion company, and finally as a marketing coordinator at SCHUTZ. All of these lasted under a year but were solid and good opportunities. She seemed to be really invested in working in behind the scenes of the fashion industry.

During this time she wasn't do any actually modelling but would still go to events and galas. She also had some type of relationship with Harpers Bazar Brazil, she didn't model for them directly but had column pieces and a photoshoots. It's here in harpers Bazar Brazil we see her try to remodel herself as this 'It' girl, that modelled but was cool.

Piquet Jr joins the Formula E series for its debut season of 2014-15, and in the beginning of 2015 we see a lot of Kelly going to the races. In April of 2015 she gets appointed social media and PR consultant for formula E, now actually considering her experience this was a good role for her and how active she was on ig she would have known how to use it efficiently. But do I think she would have either went for the job or gotten the job without her last name, no. But formula E was a new series Kelly had a name and experience so I don't think it was a bad decision for either part. Kelly looked genuinely happy doing the job and got to travel.

To note she also still tried with the modelling thing, but again any 'jobs' she got were her friends brands or her doing her own photoshoot.

In December 2016 she left working for formula E. This could be to do with her dating Daniil or other reason, but there's really not much on her 'career' between 2016 and 2018. She seems to just travel and take photos for ig.

She 'models' for PatBo quite a bit and is put into some articles as well about it. But most of it seems like she travels and then 'models' or attends friends event for their brands.

In 2018 she launches a website and claims to be a Health and Wellness coach.

In 2019 she announces the pregnancy of P and pretty much her whole personality changes to become a mother, which is fair enough it's a big change and an exciting but scary thing. She throws extravagant parties for gender reveals and baby showers. It's in this year you see her pick up more on 'modelling' and photoshoots. After P is born she stays to posting new mother content and then Covid happens so the only 'modelling' she does is by friends at her dads house.

It's when she moves back to monaco in 2020 we see a huge shift into the modelling and wannabe instabaddie. I have a few theories on this, she was angry at Danil for leaving her so would post these to be like 'hey look how hot I am' or cause she wanted to impress max as this was around the time they were getting together.

At this time most of her shoots are shot by her friend Christy Barley and she seems to only use them for her ig posts.

It seems her first paid job came in 2021, no surprise after she became public with max and went to some GP's with him. She worked noticeably with APM monaco and did some ads for Dior.

However, it was also her friend Christy Barley taking the photos, although not a bad thing as the photos are very good quality.

She goes to her first event (held not by a friend and outside of Brazil) for Reply.

Also, during 2021 her followers were increasing drastically as she was constantly posting max and behind the scenes of him. And starting to push the family, max step dad narrative.

She also continues 'modelling' for her friends brands such as At Jewel, PatBo and The Abi Project. She does a few more brand deals that year.

In 2022 she really tries to push the high-class/super model persona, but in reality no high-end brand is paying her to model or shot for them. All her shoots are done cause she's asked a photographer for a photo shoot. We also she her first appearance at Cannes and the start of her relationship with the guy who sends her LV. In June she signs to a modelling agency (once again Dutch) but obviously her dad being racist and then her as well, put a pause on her 'modelling' career for a bit and she went MIA off ig. Goes to her first fashion week at Milan, goes to about 3 shows (her stylist hates her).

Then in October 2022 we she her first magazine shoot, with Dutch magazine Mirror Mirror (no surprise why it was dutch). The shoot is fine she looks like a cross between the grinch and gollum, once again shot by a friend, in the interview claims to still be a Health and Fitness Coach.

Uses max's races and special moments (his award ceremony, Fia gala) for photoshoots all throughout the year.

Now in December we get the bombshell of a Vogue cover dropping, again its Dutch Vogue (no surprises there). On the surface people question how've her agency done that but a dutch modelling agency probably has god connections with them. Someone leaks the interview to the other blog (wtflife01), people don't beileve it but it turns out to be true.

And then the official interview Kellys admits to grooming max, the same leaked stuff is in the interview.

Soon people realise she paid for the shoot to happen, it took place on her dads farm, F1 inspired (you all by now know the rest.)

I'll keep her career brief for 2023 cause we all know how this year went down.

At the end of December she signed to another agency (PageboyProjects) and the start if them pushing her into a infulcner rather than model (which is what she claims to be), we see the rise of the fake papz walk (due to them), her only going to max's races if it benefited her, in Cannes for a month, fashion shows and events. To point out her stylist, makeup artist and hairdresser hate her, 9/10 she looked bad.

But all in all Kelly is not a model, simply because little to no brands, either high fashion or commercial, pay her to model their clothes on catwalks, in magazines or adverts. She's an influencer (a lazy one )at best who is able to do this as her 'career' cause of the men in F1 in her life (her dad, brother and boyfriend). At the start she had real potential to be influential in the latin American fashion world but decided that isn't what she wanted to do but actually chase a 26 year around the world and be a wannabe model.

Now I apologise for how long this is but for all the deep dives we've done on kelly and her problematic stuff, no one has ever done one on her career (or lack of) I omitted all the personal stuff out of the years as most of us know and can hopefully fill in the gaps, like her getting more modelling jobs after going public with max, etc.

Wow, just wow. Honestly, she should be embarrassed of herself because she had the potential to be one of the good nepo babies more than once but her laziness got the best of her. Opportunities were handed to her like candy on Halloween and she didn’t do shit with them.

Team Monster

Link, BOB, and Dr. Cockroach have been the three main monsters of the prison. There were a few other monsters throughout the years like the Invisible Man [and any monster OCs you have that you're not afraid of killing off], but only Insectosaurus was around by 2009, when the monsters were freed

Lots of inside jokes. The longer you were in prison, the more jokes you have

The more the monsters tried to escape (like in BOB's Big Break), the stronger security became. After the near escape, the loss of that jumbo jet, and the arrival of Insectosaurus, things REALLY got real. The escape attempts pretty much ended not too long after that

For about 2 decades (the late 60s to the mid 80s) the formerly human monsters each were allowed a newspaper from their native countries (IE: Dr C got London Times) until an unpleasant incident happened involving one of the monsters. Never again, said Monger. Never again

Nobody, except BOB, held much regard for Monger until after they were freed

They can go pretty much anywhere they want, but Area 5X is home base

After the monsters saved the world, the budget level was raised, like a LOT, as the monsters were heroes and defenders of the world instead of just prisoners. Hence came the remodel (as seen in the Halloween special)

Link and Insecto bonded pretty much from the beginning because everyone else got under Link's skin and most everyone was scared to death of Insecto when she arrived

Susan and Dr. C have a closer bond than with any of the other monsters because they're the only monsters that used to be humans. LOTS of spectators and fans think that they're a couple, which isn't true

Her middle name is Joanna, after one of her grandmas

A girly girl but also an athletic girl. Likes flowers, dresses and heeled shoes, shopping, chic flicks (Roman Holiday, Legally Blonde and Ever After are some of her favorites), and generally feminine stuff. When she was normal height, she liked shopping malls and spa trips with her friends. As a kid, she was a Girl Scout and played with Barbies and whatnot. She also liked playing sports like dodgeball and volleyball and enjoyed watching the Super Bowl with her family and friends

An only child. Her parents tried for a second child but gave up after about 4-5 years after having her

Learned to rollerskate as a kid and liked it until she fell on concrete and broke her arm. After 10+ years and being chased by a giant robot, she was a bit rusty. Just a bit

Was an average girl in school, not popular but not a social outcast either. Moderately good in gym and athletics

Met Derek in high school. They started dating in his senior year (he's about 2-3 years older). She had crushes in middle school, but he was the only person she dated

Did some college, probably got an Associate's degree

Becoming a giantess and a hero really helped boost her confidence, becoming less of a doormat and growing more of a backbone. Though she still struggles with self-esteem. Her relationship with Derek was a toxic one, sort of like the friendship between Regina George and Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls, that somewhat forced codependency. So there's some character growth that's finally happening that would've never happened had she married him. She's come a long way since becoming more confident, but there's still a bit of trauma, healing, and inner discovery and growth to deal with

But because of her size and how hard getting hair care products and appliances (ie: shampoo/conditioner, a hairbrush, etc.), even makeshift ones, it would require a lot of maintenance. Even Kirkland/supply from Costco doesn't stand a chance. So she's opted to keep it short. Also the same reason she doesn't wear makeup as much anymore

She gets a dress on rare occasions. Not to mention that it's hard to get any clothes her size. She was fortunate to get her prison uniform as quickly as she did. Regardless, she loves, loves, LOVES her dresses! Has to wear shorts underneath them for safeguard against prying eyes

in a broad sense, video games, unless they are intended to be quite literally a resource hole with no expectation of return, will always be moderated by the same market forces all things are under capitalism. social democracies or centralized economies fundamentally have to gamble on which luxuries should be supported (and they do- non-essential industries get subsidies all the time in plenty of places.)

due to the way that programming works nowadays with dependencies and such, making a game at minimum requires a good 5-6 people working on it at one time to complete. use of previously existing libraries does in fact mean the people who build and maintain those libraries count for dev numbers, even if they don't show up in the credits. most, of course, require many, many more.

therefore even under an idealized economic system, you require 3-4 NEETs on UBI working around the clock for years on end to publish a single good game. many indie teams fall apart or if their early games don't get good reviews they no longer want to keep making them. but in a more common scenario (because, let's face it, people are more likely to play big AAA-style games, even if they aren't quite AS big as the AAA games of today- marketing is necessary even if your product is totally free) the game that people are likely to play simply won't get made without outside funding. not everyone who works at a big game studio would rather work there than anywhere else excepting the paycheck; many people would in fact not make games if they had to collaborate with large teams for enough income to survive and have a little left over. in addition, hardware and software packages are needed, and not everyone who works on making THOSE only wants to do it for UBI, either. you need increased incentives for things you want to exist beyond the minimum necessary for existence, because while people do work together, they only work together well up to Dunbar's number and then it all goes to shit.

so, what's the most likely scenario under a non-capitalist economic system for the creation of video games? remember, luxuries ARE created under non-capitalist economic systems, because they make life worth living. it is plausible that some people would find video games a reason life is worth living, therefore you would want to fund it.

i expect they would be created under a system of government grants. you apply to the government with your game scenario, concept art, perhaps a short demo, and they give you grant funding. however, there's a small problem- presumably, the government cannot afford to fund every game that people want to make. perhaps some of those which aren't funded go on to become indie games made by NEETs, but the majority probably crash and burn because their concept was too ambitious.

so, you have to convince the government that your game will be well liked, in order to get the grant money, to make your game. they want to fund things that will increase the satisfaction and well-being of their constituents as much as possible, you see. do you see the issue with this?

yep, it's exactly the same issue with pleasing investors in the modern day. creative endeavors that require large teams and need to aim for an actual specific goal rather than ars gratia artis = people creating proposals that aim for specific keywords and things that are currently in vogue, not for the wildest and most interesting. this creates games that are just like modern AAA games- attempting to appeal to the market as much as possible.

now, how do I know this incentive structure will be created? well, you might have heard of heard of a small organization called the "National Science Foundation"...

"I was sent to Vivienne Westwood's famous shop World's End in the Kings Road in London by a friend of mine when I was 19 and living there for a while. It was 1987. He wanted one of those belts that were very popular in the late 80s that had metallic buckles that had letters in them. While you could buy "Boy" ones from the shop BOY London, at World's End they custom made them. It was then I was seduced by the clothes that seemed to have no comparison anywhere and the shop that was like something out of an Enid Blyton story with its clock that ran backwards, its tiny size and sloping floors, with walls adorned with bustiers and crinnies and rocking horse shoes. I was quite intimidated but I really was hooked from that first visit and I don't recall having even tried on any clothes. I obviously did get back and the crinnies and Statue of Liberty tops and rocking horse shoes made me feel incredible and did the most dramatic things to my body. I felt and looked different than I ever had. I came back to Melbourne and moved to St Kilda with a new friend that I had made while working at Galaxy, a clothing shop in Chapel St, South Yarra, run by Sara Thorn and Bruce Slorach who were fashion designers. I went out to night clubs, studied at uni and worked part time. I met my partner at the time, Oleh Witer, at a party on a boat. We were both wearing Westwood, so had at least one thing in common. At the time he was in a band that he started called Big Pig. They had a few hits in the 80s - Hungry Town, Big Hotel and Breakaway that made it as title track of the hit movie Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Oleh had been wearing Westwood for years, and had some fabulous pieces including some original shoes that Patrick Cox had made for Westwood, an original rope t-shirt and bondage trousers, amongst other things. He and his ex-partner, Jane Francis ("Minnie") had spent a lot of time in London and had had market stalls near Ben Westwood's (Vivenne's son). Oleh had also modelled for Vivienne in the 80s in one of her fashion parades. Minnie ended up working for Vivienne for many years, mainly in accessories and particularly jewellery. She apparently had one of the most incredible collections of pristine Westwood too, that had never been worn. Over the late 80s and early 90s when I was 19 years old to probably around 22-23 years old, I didn't wear anything else, I just couldn't, nothing was quite as avant-garde, attention-grabbing or fun and beautiful to wear. It suited the things I did, and the crowd I hung out with who worked in fashion, music, film and television. Over this period, I travelled to London a number of times and bought more clothes whilst there, or had clothes sent over. Also, during this time, Vivienne had a major exhibition in Canberra and Oleh and I drove up from Melbourne to see the show and hang out with Ben, his girlfriend, Yasmine, and Minnie who were traveling with Vivienne and Andreas, her husband. We spent a few days with them swimming in their hotel pool, eating bags of cherries from Oleh's parents' tree (they lived in Canberra) and sampling oysters from the NSW south coast which we visited with them. The night before the opening we spent time trying on clothes that they had bought from London, Vivienne choosing outfits for all of us. It was at this time that she gave me the blue rose print swimming costume. The night of the opening I wore a draping toga type dress that was gorgeous, and I didn't get to keep. I was photographed in it and my pic was in Vogue's coverage of the event with a close friend of mine, Matthew Flinn who also wore a lot of Westwood and recently passed away. During this time, there was a tribe of us that all wore Westwood with healthy competition. We were all obsessed and usually wore nothing else. I can't tell you why exactly, but for me, her clothes made me feel special and different from other people, and of course, fashionable but in a way that didn't really follow fashion, that is her clothes felt fashion-forward. I believe Vivienne Westwood is fashion-forward, she is doing her own thing and that most other designers are influenced by her work some time later. Her clothes were sexy and bold, and you had to be brave to wear most of them. They were certainly not for wall flowers, certainly not the ones I generally chose. My collection of clothes is the best representation of my life at the time I wore them, think the infamous Razor club of Melbourne, the crazy Daisy Chain club in London that Leigh Bowery used to frequent, most commonly in his naked woman outfit or the one with lit lightbulbs on his head, the Kings Road of London with Westwood and Katherine Hamnett, dance music - house and acid, making lavish music videos directed by Richard Lowenstein (Dogs in Space) and Paul Goldman (Australian Rules)."

Totally agree with your response! Whole thing’s fishy at this point. I can see her coming up something drastic like claiming she’s pregnant or actually doing her damnedest to be.

I know literally nothing about the J2 Studio (fact-checked myself and it’s studio, not studios) thing aside from what I saw on a post floating on this app long ago. When Jamie and Jess were in Paris in January of 2023, he shot photos around the city for his Vogue article with YSL. The caption on both of their Instagram posts about it (different dates of course-hers was later) was “shot by J2Studio”. Every photo in the article has “J2 Studio” underneath it.

As far as anyone knows, Jess was with him while shooting around the city. We know for a fact she was there for the fashion show. No one knows who shot the photos and basically it was deduced that “J2” must mean the first letters of their names.

Never heard another word about it and would LOVE to. If he has some sort of business or “studio” with her, no one in the fandom has said anything if they know.

You're right about the J2 Studios thing that is really weird. Especially since running a search of the name of this studio, or Jamie's name, or her name, doesn't return anything like this with that name. I can't imagine Jess took those photos, did she? Mostly because I'd think if she did take them she wouldn't have hesitated to brag in her comments that she took them herself with some stupid "photos by Jess Moloney" comment.

Looking up any business under Jamie's name comes up with nothing either in the UK or in the US. Unless he's using a different name to register the business which kind of wouldn't make sense? Also, it's weird that there would be this credit to a studio that doesn't seem to exist (and never has existed) and is only on his photos for that one thing. Not to mention she already had Ice Studios. In fact, it was mentioned before this point

Why would they create an entire whole ass new "studio" when this would have been a perfect time to plug Ice Studios? Who actually took those photos? Why is there no name of a photographer credited? Why is this Vogue thing the only place it shows up anywhere? Why has it never been mentioned again? I'm not saying Jess wouldn't try to start a studio with Jamie for this but what happened to it if she did? Why did it fall through? Why not take more photos for "J2 Studios"? This is honestly bizarre.

Also, addressing the pregnancy thing:

I do wonder if she's already tried that? As in maybe they were going to break up months ago but then she claimed she was pregnant and then later claimed a miscarriage and he felt he couldn't leave her when she was "vulnerable" and that's what's stuck them together for this long (among other things). I know she says she doesn't want to have kids but every other word out of her mouth is a lie and always has been. I also 100% do not put it past her to actually get pregnant (by Jamie or someone else) and try to pass it off as Jamie's kid just to keep this attention going for as long as possible. This woman is a snake and baby-trapping a man is among one of the "easier" things shady women like her do. I desperately hope that this isn't something she either attempts to do or already has done (and then just lied about a miscarriage). This woman is just seven layers of evil.

Caden is continuing to make plaintive tired noises but sadly I don't think there's anywhere I could take him to rest even if it was story-appropriate. As it is...

"Hm." Rasaad makes a mildly perplexed noise. "Of all the things I expected to find in a palace, this is not one of them."

The "palace" of the elves in truth merely seems to be another corner of the enormous tree, walled off from the rest of the city into its own peaceful oasis. The central entrance, dominated by the apple tree growing at its heart, opens into a wider courtyard, which is overlooked by two tall, stately waterfalls pouring slowly into a pool nestled amidst a carpet of leaves.

[long pause while I enjoy the ambience of the waterfalls]

OK, seriously, what the hell am I supposed to do here? :P There are no visible doors and examining the waterfalls just keeps giving the same message.

Perhaps this is the end and Caden has reached Elysium.

But probably not, so... [checks Sorcerer's Place yet again]

I dunno how the hell I was supposed to know this, but the answer to this puzzle is (partially) in the Stone Horn that I accidentally picked up while looking for the trinkets previously. There is also a Stone Harp that goes with it elsewhere in the city, and having both of those will apparently allow us to open the way forward.

This feels mean, because the game is giving ZERO indication that we required anything else other than to trek straight on into the palace, so without Google I'm not sure what I would have done here. :P

OK, got the harp, which was (unsurprisingly) in the building labeled "The Harpist's House." It was full of dead people and also had one of the indoor hot tubs that seem to be so in vogue in Suldanessellar.

Found a door to the Harbour today.

It is in a beautiful walled garden next to the library - my local library, which I finally got round to visiting. It is small but perfectly familiar. I snooped around every shelf - since becoming a librarian myself I have become very attuned to the sight of other librarian's decisions - in what is laid out how and why.

I was drawn to a stand labelled 'Feeling blue'. Every book on it was of a totally different genre and purpose, but all blue covers. I picked up a book - Pandora's Jar by Natalie Haynes - retelling the stories of women from Ancient Greece. I knew all the names of the women - but the book persuaded me perhaps I did not yet know all the stories. It made me think about names for people long since dead, but which still live as words, doing things I had not before considered. I didn't take it out because I am out of practice with library borrowing and nervous about getting horribly attached and not wanting to give it back. I think instead I shall read a little more each time I visit and feel personally wounded when someone else borrows it first.

In the home and garden section I read the introduction to a book about cigars. The writer was insufferable and pompous, quoting a lot of well-regarded 19th and 20th century writers who lauded the cigar and trying to persuade the reader to disregard the problematic knot of comparisons to dark exotic harems of forbidden sexual conquests because really their points about how cigars are great still stand even though all the best quotes about them are stunningly misogynistic and racist. As if the nature of the language best suited to heralding a thing doesn't tell you something about the thing itself.

I picked up a book on an end shelf about the history of perfume, read a short middle chapter about the vogue of fur and the nascence of perfumes designed initially to mask the scent of death and animal and eventually developing into a complement to the distinct aroma of creature corpse. The book used a word for the particular smell of preserved animal skin in fur coats that I repeated to myself and now cannot remember. I shall have to go back and look for the book. What a strange thing to have left a word in a particular place in a city. I cannot hear it, I have never spoken it, but I know where it lives.

I also registered for a library card. Turns out it is a city-wide card and I can return books I borrow to any library in this city. What a gorgeous idea - that books move across the city in arms and bags and can find their way home through any door, because they all lead to the same place - to one unified library with doors hidden across a sprawling network of streets. I left the library and entered the walled garden right next to it, delighted and breathing deeply. There was a little fountain and kids on push bikes. A whole delegation of weathered benches, dedicated to the dead, their names engraved there - words that have come to rest in a certain place in a city. I have not heard these names, I have never spoken them, but I know where they live.

On the far side of the garden was the door, fenced off by a metal grate you cannot see in the photograph. It opens onto a vision of trees in bright colours - it opens into my Harbour. I stood and smiled at it, thinking about forests - about gardens and places of peace and libraries - about how trees and books go together. How libraries and community gardens are part of the same magic. How unsurprised I am and yet how amazed to see it again and again and again.

So yeah, I found a door to the Harbour today. It is in the library, it is in the garden - it is a place I have been so many times before, and finally got round to for the first time today. Beyond it live words I have never found anywhere else, saying things I have never heard spoken, like a name for someone long since dead. It is one door of many across the city that all lead to the same place.

One of my theories about their Netflix show is that it will be just 1 episode, 48mins basic documentary as opposed to a series with 5/6 episodes. As much hype as they have created and as much pseudo royalinh they have done, there isn't very much of real content there. Except for the website in archwell they don't have anything else going for them. Better up won't let them shoot board meetings. Meghan isn't really in politics, so apart from writing letters what else has she done?

That's why we get the polo playing tsunami with 2 short-shorts outfits. That's why we get the random NYC tour, with them handholding and powerwalking through the streets, in and out of the UN building. Its why we have the ill-timed Time mag cover which did not go anywhere. It's why we get Meghan in Ellen, because maybe that was when they were pitching ideas of what to show on the Nf doc and was one way to make her seem cool and relevant.

With the doc in mind, some of their random sightings and projects make sense. Their on-again off-againg eras of visibility makes sense. Like they brain storm for ideas, put everything in the table and then choose to do the ones that make them most visible, without bothering to back up those with any work in real life. It's all for the Netflix reality show. Not that any of us are surprised. Most people predicted this very same all the way back in 2019 when her Vogue mag came out.

What is interesting is to see that it took this long to see for themselves that this was the only route they could go. But in the meantime, they burnt all bridges. They take themselves way too seriously so there is no chance they could make this work and rebrand as the ditsy, lovable idiots and make some steady money. If they could do that, Meghan has a lot of content and a few seasons of this reality show could be guaranteed. "A real royal housewife' could be hatewatchable with markle reconciliation, confusion over dirty diapers, perpetual boredon in the Sussex household etc being made fun to watch. Netflix is capable of doing this. But are the Sussexes??

the only other alternative i see is that they find it too convenient to use it as a platform to make more accusations and settle their personal scores with everyone they feel like has wronged them. neither of them let sh*t go.

one of the things that make them entertaining to watch is that the universe just seems bent on foiling their aspirations. i could see either a sugar or ”poor me” show going down like a lead balloon and getting mocked widely when released end of year. we are most likely going into a recession. inflation won’t get corrected any time soon. people feel it already, and it’ll only get worse before it gets better.

I wasn't able to add your @ since I was on mobile when I responded to your comment on my note regarding that Musk post, but I'd like to be sure you receive my response anyway, and in full.

It occurs to me that you might not remember a time when the slur 'retard' was in common use. ‘Moron’ and ‘idiot’ mean the same thing and carry the same history of eugenics-based medical abuse of folks with developmental disabilities.

Teen Vogue ran an article on this subject in 2017, so I think it’s safe to say I’m not unique in recognizing the harm of these words and believing they should be removed from our communal lexicon. (https://www.teenvogue.com/story/the-sinister-history-of-the-word-moron-explained)

Finally, I have no interest in “fitting in” on Tumblr or anywhere else at the expense of pushing for necessary change. I genuinely hope this helps you understand the situation and the damage that can be caused by unthinking use of antiquated language.

How do you relax? Crochet, watch tv, kiss and snuggle my husband.

If you had a tattoo, what would it be and where would it be? Well, I have several. But if I were to get another one, I’d want something simple, and on my wrist. Or my ankle. Maybe my dogs? Or a couple’s tattoo or something like that

What is a travel must have? Tylenol and dramamine.

What is your favorite smell? (Laughs) oh, boy. I can’t say what just popped in my head! (Laughs some more).. I love the smell of things baking.

When was the last time you cried? Uh, last week I think.

Were you named after someone? My middle name comes from my Mom, who shares the same middle name. Ann! And my first name is because my Mom just liked the name! My last name is from my Mom and my Dad, because she wanted it hyphenated.

What is your least favorite food? I really hate capers.

What is your least favorite word? I don’t know if I have one

What is your pet peeve? Mansplainers.

What is a skill that you are working on? I’m working to control my patience. I’ve been working on that skill since I was a teenager. Obviously, I’m bad at it

What is your dream job? I’m living my dream job! Which I think is pretty cool. Psychologist.

If you could live anywhere in the country, where would you live? In the south somewhere. Like Virginia or North Carolina. Or I’d go back to Maine.
