Sometimes while doing other things, I think of a piece of dialogue or a snippet of a scene in a fic I'm writing. If I don't get it out, then I'll forget it. And if I don't have time to write it in the moment (I usually don't), I'll make a voice memo telling myself what I need to write. This is the voice memo I left myself earlier today while I was supposed to be doing my real job. There aren't a ton of spoilers in it, but if you want to go into my fic blind later this month, you probably don't want to listen. What I describe is a tipping point in their relationship when they both admit to feeling some kind of way about each other.

I shared another one of these with @feistygina a week or two ago. She thought you all might like to hear part of my process, as silly as it may be.

Does anybody else dislike voice messages?

I'm not blaming anybody who sends me voice messages, but imo they're extremely overrated and unpractical :D

You can't always listen to voice messages. When I'm in the office for example, I don't want to bother other people and have to get out my headphones in order to listen to them. I'm normally quick to answer new messages, but because of this I sometimes have to put off an answer.

In my experience, most of the time a 20-40 second voice message covers the same amount of information like a ~2-3 line long text, which is way faster to read.

Those extremely long voice messages (~5 minutes) are quite difficult to answer! I always feel like I haven't answered some of their questions properly, because it's a ton of information. Point 2 also applies here imo, since voice messages are generally not as thought-through like text messages, and it can be difficult to follow the intent of the message.

I could probably find more, but I'll leave it at that haha. There are definitely some cases where a voice message can convey the information better, and it's easier and in some cases faster to record something compared to writing. Still, I definitely prefer text messages!

What about you? Do you prefer recording voice messages, or are you more of a text message person like me? Just curious about this, since I've never heard a friend complain about voice messages before lol.

‘Sleep Tight’ is the first song of my 'voice memos demos' series. Recorded on my phone voice memo app. It is unedited & raw. I wrote it about someone close to me who passed away a few years ago. If I could speak to her, I would like her to know that she can rest easy. I am looking after the people she loved, and who loved her. She doesn’t have anything to worry about.

As I was learning more about music production over the last few months, I realised that I missed the spontaneity of just picking up my guitar and writing a song. Without worrying too much about the recording process. Just voice and instrument. This is where my ‘voice memos demos’ series was born…

Heya, hope you’re well. Today was a nice day :) I worked on the lyrics for ‘Irish Breakfast’ in the morning. I recorded a voice memo almost a year ago for this song, but I had only come up with a few lines for the chorus.

It was a little difficult to put myself back in the perspective I wrote the song from, mainly because now I know the outcome of my musings. That being said, I was up really early this morning with an idea for a the first verse and the rest of the song just flowed out of my brain yay. I’ll set down some vocals properly on Monday, I’ll let y’all know how they go.

The rest of my day was lovely. I got up at noon (still trying to reset my sleep schedule lol), and had some breakfast and a shower. I listened to ‘Honeymoon’, it was so good. I watered some indoor plants after that and updated my bio on all of my pages (except here, y’all get the cute, candid bio haha). It was a pretty warm day so I didn’t do too much. Just the simple, nice things like having a rlly good juice and refreshing the bedroom were enough :) I need to tackle my clothes chair mountain, but I think that’s a task for another day. I’m going to wake up early and make vasilopita (Greek New Year’s cake) tomorrow, hopefully it goes well. Alrighty, that’s all for now. Thanks for reading and take care of yourself <3
