Who up craning they Kyle
design notes for our favourite zombie disaster guy under the cut
Faster, more resilient version of the original volatiles, his runner abilities having been turned into inhuman speed and stamina by the mutation
Although his human side goes mostly dormant at night, the hunter that takes place is still more intelligent than the usual volatile, able to set very basic traps and plan ahead
The other zombies accept him as one of their own at both night and day, but he retains a sense of dislike towards them. At night, he often ignores or just kills them if they are too annoying or try to take his food
Blue veins and blisters are a product of the serum he was forced to drink
He hunts prey by stalking it and eventually tiring it out
Can talk via telepathy like The Mother, tried to learn ASL right before the Fall because he found it easier
Has tried to join human groups before, and while some accepted him, he hasn't yet found a way to keep himself at bay during the night, forcing him to always leave in the end

Scarecrow Volatile Aiden AU / Night of The Scarecrow AU
Following the bad ending of Dying Light 2, Aiden is banished from the city to walk alone. Distraught from being banished from the city he once protected he failed to since a gang of bandits and was ambushed in his lowest moment. The bandits shredded him to near death and hung his body up in the fields like a scarecrow as a trophy.
Thinking Aiden was a dead man, the bandits left him to die in those lonely dark fields, but instead of succumbing to his injuries his infection allowed him to survive. Unfortunately this allowed the infection to further mutate him in horrible ways and affect his memories. He remembers very little of his life except for his name and emotions he doesn’t quite understand. His affliction not only affected his mind but also has made him extremely sensitive to the Sun. Because of this he’s kept the scarecrow outfit mainly to protect himself from the harsh rays but also because it’s all he’s had since he awoke on that pole. Further more he’s also challenged with a new instinct to feed the virus in him and often times struggles with an extreme desire for blood.
Now he roams the ruins of the world, still possessing the drive to help others despite his situation. Hiding in the darkness and taking out problems for villages around the lands.

Sometimes it seems to me that there are too many jumpers in the Villedor at night. I mean... maybe I'm imagining it? I came out of the shelter once and saw three jumpers on three neighboring roofs. They only needed a fire in the center, they were standing SO close to each other. But I still like the presence of these creatures in the night city. Trying to go unnoticed, escape, hide from the chase, or vice versa, run to the level 4 chase - all this gives me adrenaline and fun, sometimes even fear. But I really love jumpers, no matter how annoying they sometimes are. This one, for example, was very nice and kind, allowed me to take a couple of photos before my triumphant escape.

“Pola Negri was the first European actress to be wooed, won and misunderstood by Hollywood … She had the kind of down-to-earth animal magnetism that more recent audiences associate with a Bardot or a Loren. She was a descendant of Polish gypsies, and her ancestry was reflected in the demeanour and tatty clothes of her screen image – it added to her desirability. As one critic engagingly noted at the time, trying to explain her attraction, “You had the feeling that the back of her neck was dirty.” Hollywood imported her and immediately sanitized her, washing off the dirt and replacing her tatters with elegant clothes and elaborate coiffures – it didn’t work, but she made a hell of a name for herself during her tempestuous decade in the movie capital.”
/ From The Illustrated Encyclopedia of The World’s Great Movie Stars (1979) by Ken Wlaschin /
“She played the definitive Hollywood Star. No sooner had she landed in town than she set up an affair with a biggie, Charlie Chaplin, kept a panther on a leash, called everyone “darling”, demanded that she be called Madame Negri or Countess Dombski, sabotaged shootings with tantrums and feigned headaches, laid Chaplin aside for Valentino (more to the point), gave a smashing performance at his funeral in New York shortly before suing his estate for $15,000 (a loan), and like Swanson, married a title. She could act, too.”
/ From Movie Star: A Look at the Women Who Made Hollywood (1983) by Ethan Mordden /
Born on this day: volcanic Polish silent movie diva Pola Negri (née Apolonia Chalupec, 3 January 1897 – 1 August 1987).
