We all know about the DDOS attacks on AO3 as it is still down. So it is very important we talk about the KOSA(Kids Online Safety Act) that is going to hit the floor soon. Because if that act goes through this could very much be the new reality of not only AO3 but online fandom spaces within the next year. The point of this act is to limit queer media and to eliminate online queer spaces.

Let me stress, the politicians are lying to you. Democrats and Republicans are lobbying for this. It is not pro trans rights and it is not pro lgbtq rights. This is very reminiscent of the Restrict Act! Politicians can SUE websites for having QEEER CONTENT. This act will not protect kids, it will further separate and marginalize the queer community!

If this bill goes through AO3, Wattpad, TikTok, Tumblr, and Twitter will be limited and fanfiction websites could be wiped out all together. If you are apart of fandom spaces pay attention and ACT! Call and email your senators! AND SIGN THE BELOW PETITIONS!

Apologies to anyone who knows actual plague history and stuff this is inaccurate use of plague doctors

King Lance and his royal "Plauge" DR Keith who never takes off his mask.

Lance starts to fall for him as Keith treats his beloved sister for the illness. Many say Keith is a bit cold, standoffish but he brings Lance a great comfort during it all and the two grow close.

So close in fact that it is not uncommon for his Highness to sneak off to find Dr.Keith often times for small discussions or company when walking to and from the med wing even when his presence is unnecessary.

The Dr enjoys these discussions, the small gestures from his Highness are warm and very friendly. It's become a highlight to Keiths darkest of days treating something so foul alongside his fellow medics.

None of the plague Drs are to take their coverings off around the King for his upmost safety, so Keith hopes his Highness can tell he still smiles for him.

The evening King Lance catches him maskless is when it all falls apart. His beloved Highness comes in the next day feeling strange symptoms and Keith is devastated. He'd never wanted to get him sick with any of the things they work around, and now their King has symptoms as such:

- quick heart palpitations

- a red flush that comes and goes

- clammy to the touch if a bit sweaty

The entire med wing is in an uproar. None of these symptoms aligned with what they'd learn to treat. And worst of all Keith seemed to be the only one genuinely worried (after examination ofc)!

His Highness even requested he be his doctor as if Keith wasn't the one to expose him to this illness to begin with. But he can never say no to his King even if Lance would allow such a thing. So Keith dutifully treats his Highness with all the care he can muster. He is gentle, softer than he is with any other patients.

The symptoms only seem to get worse.

And soon enough Keith himself is starting to show the same ones. They only appear around his Highness, or when bringing him up at all in discussion.

Shiro laughs at him after hearing about it and insist Keith isn't spreading an illness to anyone but he won't hear it. Lance is sick! His highness has even started looking at him as if Keith is his fiance Princess Allura (to whom everyone knows they are close).

Lance has started holding his hands for periods longer than necessary to find comfort. He has started to request Keith take his mask off in bouts of hysteria!

Keith is worried sick about him, he can't loose his highness. Lance....a world without Lance is not one worth surviving.

Then one day, months after the treatment began, the King ask for Keith in his chambers.

He holds Keith's hand gently "I have a request."

And Keith listens as his king request a kiss from him. He cites Keith's gentle care of him. He cites how it would make his time easier to feel such a tender loving caress before he goes.

But Keith isn't Allura, he is not his fiance and he is torn.

"I- I couldn't possibly-"

"Please, Keith it is my dying wish."

"You aren't dying! You can't die!"

Lance just smiles at him so soft and warm "would you deny me this? Would you deny your king?"

Keith is panicking. He's panicking because he finds himself wanting to, not just because it's the King asking but bc it's Lance.

So Keith takes off his mask, allowing his King to get an eyeful of his face for the second time. Keith leans down to kiss his King and it's so very sweet.

He nearly doesn't wish to pull away.

It's lance that does so first, his hands holding Keith's face in place "I know what illness we've befallen."

Keith's heart hammers inside his chest as he looks at Lance in awe "what would that be your highness?"

"It is Love."

The next day the entire castle is relieved both finally figured things out. The kings Fiance even writes to Keith wishing them well and says not to worry about her for she has her own lovely lady in waiting to attend to.

As he looks back on it all he can't believe he was so foolish.

How could one ever ignore the signs of the heart?

Lances hand squeezes his as they walk through the gardens and Keith can't find it in himself to care about his past ignorance.

Because now...now he has his whole life ahead with his beloved, his dearest Lance.
