SOBBING how they all immediately start treating Keith like he's suddenly a different person.....hate this for him....

I think it's very funny that the show set up both Shiro AND Keith as potential love interests for Allura in the early seasons (giving them both solo-missions alone with her, giving them both little side plots/quirks that connect them kinda thing) and giving Lance absolutely nothing. i never watched past season 4 so i hope they Stopped That in later seasons.

It is interesting to see that Keith is next to never portrayed as being "girl crazy" in any way, him or Shiro (this early in the show they can't have had the idea to make Shiro gay yet). Like, Hunk and Lance both constantly fall all over themselves over pretty girls (Lance, duh, but Hunk with Shay and whatnot) but Keith is always left out of it. I'm still hung up on this whole "canonical ages" thing too so it makes me wonder if that's meant to be a hint - like Lance/Hunk are still in the 15/16/17 age range where they're a little more immature whereas Keith/Shiro are closer to the 19/20/21 age range where they're more mature. Shiro is obviously the eldest - he's least likely to get drawn into shenanigans, but he does still sometimes (the spore fight before the Olkari, when they're all making gunfire noises at one point) which to me reads as someone who's still not quite solidly settled into being an adult yet, which reads as younger twenties, not mid twenties.

IDK. I really love figuring this kind of shit out based only on like, context clues, but I also understand that everyone's got different ideas for what means what, and I've never really been one to understand ages and different maturity levels anyway.

I think that Shiro is the eldest as 21-23, Keith is the second oldest at 19/20, and then Lance/Hunk are 16/17 and Pidge (who I DID just type as Bitch accidentally whoops sorry Pidge I love you so much) is the youngest at 14/15. This is based partially on the SUPPOSEDLY canonical ages from that one unconfirmed paladins guide thing, and my own thoughts on how the characters interact/their demonstrated maturity levels. Plus - Keith says "you're like a brother to me" to Shiro, which I think demonstrates they're closer in age. He'd have said father or mentor if Shiro was that much older than him - Keith sees Shiro as somebody he can look up to, but also somebody he can goof around with and whatnot.

Perhaps the thing with me always fucking around with ages in Percy Jackson has started to rub off on me, so now I'm trying to do it in other fandoms too WHOOPS. Oh well. This is my truth, and this is how I perceive their ages - at least in seasons 1-2 since that's as far as I've gotten. I know there's some fuckiness with Keith later on.

So, I mentioned this fic once in a post, but it was attached to the last part of the Worlds Apart series so I’ll give it it’s own spot. ‘Cause it’s its own thing, ya know?

For the last few months I’ve been working on Stay a Little Longer, a Corivan (Coran/Kolivan) fic. Not super popular, i know. Last I checked, AO3 had a grand total of 13 fics under their tag, only a smaller number being centric to them. But I hinted at them ever so slightly in the Worlds Apart series (Between specifically, I think) and my brain just spiraled. So here I am.

I wanted to do a lot of things with this fic, most notably explore Coran’s grief, which really itched my brain when Keith mentioned how “something had broken and healed funny” inside of Coran. I just had to see how.

I wanted to see how he had changed, kind of like Lance, not cracking as many jokes as he used to, not being as goofy as he was on the show. The wake of Allura’s absence far too big to not leave a mark.

I also wanted to see him fall in love again. I think that’s something he deserves.

The fic will be out soon, I can feel it. I do have a personal deadline of mid-August, but the resolution is close. We’re at 31k at the moment, as it is a one-shot and not multi-chaptered. I’m really excited about this one, hope yall like it :)

I believe you and many others have misinterpreted Chloé’s role in the show. She was never meant to be sympathetic, tragic or comedic. She is a hate sink (like that Cecil character you wrote). Her whole existence is to be hated, both in universe and out. Not redeemable, nor something to laugh at, but purely to be hated.

You know what? I've been trying to avoid saying it, but for the sake of this answer, I'm going to allude to spoilers for Season 5 via what was recently found in the scripts. So, if you don't want to be exposed to that, please don't read more.

See, I get you, but they didn't do a good job at actually establishing that. It's true that there was no hard evidence to Chloe having a hidden heart of gold, just that she's more sensitive than she lets on. That said, with the way everything was written, her role as a hate sink was shoddily done at best and actively harmful at worst. I've had the misfortune of reading some of the leaked stuff for Season 5 and it leans more and more into being outright harmful, giving some awful lessons about troubled youth and how they should be handled. It's true that it "cements" Chloe as a hate sink, but it does it by bringing up an event that had zero foreshadowing in the show up to this point and felt like it was only there to tell everyone "SEE?! CHLOE'S THE BAD GUY! SHE'S ALWAYS THE BAD GUY! SHE'S A MONSTER! NOW STOP THINKING SHE WAS EVER GOOD AND STOP LIKING HER!" It's on par with Lotor and the Colony Arc from Voltron Legendary Defender in its execution, possibly even worse than it, and with how it ruined more characters as well as some relationships in retrospect (Not just referring to relationships for Chloe, mind you), I refuse to acknowledge it as canon.

Again, I know you have problems with Chloe and I get that the intent for Chloe was that she was meant to be a hate sink, but when the intent is wrought with awful execution and also includes some horrible implications concerning not only Chloe, but a bunch of the other characters, I don't feel obligated to respect that intent. Season 5 brought up a deluge of horrible decisions made for most of the characters. Chloe is just one of them. At this point, with the show becoming so toxic that most of the characters don't feel like themselves anymore, I refuse to call it canon and I believe you should do the same if you actually respect any of the characters. In any case, you're not gonna change my mind on Chloe nor am I gonna change my writing for her just to suit some arbitrary rule for the fandom. I'm already putting her through the Karmic Wringer anyways, so I don't see why you're complaining. Please stop trying to make me hate characters you do. To cap this off, let me repost this:

Oh, and before you make any assumptions, none of this is me saying that Marinette deserved any of the bullying. Just because I don't hate a bully character doesn't mean I think that the people they bullied deserved it. That's just idiotic. I care about Marinette, quite a lot actually, and I hate what Season 5 ends up doing to her in regards to her character.

Not gonna lie anon, your question caught me off guard at 2am on a Sunday,, I was like 😳

“Oh shit someone's asking me?? About a ship?!” The intimidating question was so real and all I could do was literally go on a feral tirade on why I love Kidge so much and legit made no sense and just kept wondering in between moments of clarity on how I can properly defend myself on why I like the ship 😩 (not that I need to or have too, enough time has passed where I can say,,, just let me ship and be blissfully happy UwU, I do not car e anymore lol)

I will say that I want to keep this brief (as best I can, because heck I went feral just talking to myself on why I like the ship), I’m not the best at explaining things like some other amazing people might in the ship tag. But take what I say with a grain of salt and hope I don’t scare you off with whatever I do type.

**Note: This is not entirely brief liike how I wanted and I hate myself,, feck,,, I failed step one immediately**

Imma do bullet points, thoughts and prayers y'all cause I did my best to explain my chaotic thoughts lol ;;w;;

First and foremost! I definitely recommend that you watch the show in the general scope of a viewer and not just focusing on a ship. I think everyone should and would be aware of that~ but much like my initial watch I wasn’t paying much attention to the show and lore and story because I was distracted~. It wasn’t with Kidge at the time, but it definitely impeded my watch in the beginning as well as me falling off the fandom for a while into season 3-5. Plus, me rushing through those seasons when season 7 was coming around like, blood hell Alpha.

I think it goes without saying because the show is really good and love the found family aspect of it most importantly 👏🏼👏🏼 I am a sob and a fecking mess about this trope and I will forever cry over it.

I highly recommend watching the show in increments too instead of just binging it because you will lose information much faster 😭 and also it is just so fun to look forward to watch it the next day. I had so much fun this month just rewatching the show and am kind of depressed that it’s over lol 😔

Don’t cry because it’s over be happy for the journey (and all the fanfics you can reread again with full, understanding knowledge 😌)

Additionally, it is fun to reflect on the episodes re-watched, to better retain the info, at least for me, I can be slow with digesting new information (especially after so long), but it also made me giddy just talking to myself about the silly or serious shenanigans happening in the episode.

Second of all! I don’t want to convince you to ship Kidge 😩 I want you to convince yourself on why they would be good and cute together from your perspective! 👏🏼👏🏼

I personally think that they just work so well together, and while their initial interactions are short and brief, I love seeing them just standing next to each other or sharing panels during the fight sequences through much of the early seasons! I will say liike season 7 (even season 8) is like a holy grail for Kidge shippers because— 😩👏🏼 AH, took a while to get there, but we made it besties!!

Considering you’ve only seen season 1, I won’t dive into too many spoilers! To the best of my ability, I will say, I tended to focus on where the two stood by one another a lot and how they interacted in their lions and as Voltron and outside of it! ~

1. They both have family members/familial others on the trip to the Kerberos mission and just the whole concept of them looking for their respective familial figures.

Like that’s is the first part of the whole “WE COULD HAVE HAD IT ALL 😩” the way the two of them are shown to fight tooth and nail to save and go out of their way to figure out where their family members are is just 🤧✨ I truly believe if there was an opportunity to grow and develop them together it would have been over this.

I also find it incredibly fascinating that they are two of the most prominent characters that dive into their backstories in flashback sequences through the seasons ahead (we got a glimpse of Pidge's backstory in season 1 with a few more down the line). And how similar the two are in some of their experiences like school and being bullied and how their familial figures guide them (Shiro to Keith and Matt, and her father, to Pidge).

Hell, all of this could have been played as platonic all the way through or something more. Like I was there for it 👏🏼 I feel like this is a strong cemented stone on why I ship them a lot and keep me going on the potential their relationship could have been if they knew one another before the pilot episode. I just think it would have been cool, two conspiracy theorist bypassing the government to search for the truth!

2. They are literally the right and left arms of Voltron; the sword and shield ✨

I sincerely wish so much that again their relationship could have been developed more in the early seasons with this aspect, especially since we see how developed both Lance and Hunk are with each other (I mean they are literally best friends at the Garrison, I needed most of that with Kidge especially since they would be the opposite to them so it would have great to see them develop together as the arms of Voltron 🤧).

I just think it would have been nice to see it play out on how well they work together on the field and off it. I will say! It isn't all lost, especially into season 3 and like late season 6 and onwards! I say the dynamic of Shiro and Pidge in their lions and as Voltron currently is what kind of develops in Keith and Pidge later! I hope you can make sense of that later on as you keep watching 👀!

3. Other general things about their tropes and personalities just give me more fuel to ship them, such as:

Them both being introverted to heck in their respective ways; the techie nerd and the emo loner like,,, sillies!

I am always someone who loves looking at character color palettes and how they mesh well together; so believe me I lost my mind when Kidge shippers literally came up with Kidgemas cause of their red and green colors and I just *screams* 🌿🔥

I love both their personalities and how similar, yet different, they are to one another in that respect; they both have a drive and fire in them, their sarcasm and jibs to the others is so funny.

I'm not over season 1 episode,,, 2? Of the team training together and like,,, first of all, the two's small spat because Pidge couldn't concentrate during the mental exercise, but literally leaping to her defense when Allura threw food goo at her like,, Ah I just love her sarcasm to Allura then "The princess of what, your not ours--" and i just like go off queen, but also please no fighting 😩 y’all are going to be family ah,,, i love my dysfunctional family so much ya'll

Keith making a face at the action and immediately "Go loose, Pidge" LIKE AH! 👏🏼👏🏼😩😩

But they also have their calm moments of serene clarity and peace that is heighted with their interactions with the other characters as well!

I also noticed how they both tend to be the mature ones in some cases and some situations when around the other or a shared mature figure like Shiro; Keith by like a lot, clearly, but I was increasingly surprised by how Pidge maintained some serious temperament during missions, especially when around Hunk and most definitely around Lance lol (It is funny tho how serious and mildly annoyed she gets to his flirtatious ways, but can also immediately just let her guard down and have giddy fun with him when something catches her interest, it's so cute and hilarious 😌).

I also just love their development through the show of just letting their guard down around the others overtime! Especially with Keith and how his lone wolf personality melts away (believe me I lost my mind at how many sweet moments were between him and Hunk and IM just here crying at how Keith was able to smile and have fun around him 😭 💛❤️ got me all emotional i fecking criED). As well as Pidge with the others, especially after she told them about her true identity and how she wants to be able to work with them better without any secrets (On a side note, I wish there was more moments with Allura and Pidge earlier on ;;;o;;; SHE LEARNED ALTEAN FOR HER AND CORAN AND IM JUST,,, sweetie I love you! YOUR HONOR THEY ARE SISTERS! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼).

Ah shit, is that season 1 or 2? ;;w;; well, she learns it a nice fact! My girl is such a genius like how did she not like,,, move up grades in school, she is so intelligent , i could never. Not gonna lie, I feel like the team wouldn't be as successful with intel if they didn't have her and her tech wizard skills because DAMN.

Also how Keith was so up and arms when Pidge wanted to leave initially like!? Please ;;w;; sir has abandonment issues, please don't leave sweetie (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥｀); but also a similar scene occurs, very briefly, later on in reverse :) so take that as you will! It is very small, almost negligible if you aren't paying attention to it.

It is made better by a concluding panel that Kidge shippers just lose their minds over ! (Me, I am kidge shippers and I lost my mind over and over because they are just — *cries and sobs* perfecto!)

Very minor thing, but the height difference (in general im weak in the knees for this) always gets me crying, screaming, throwing up, going feral on the ground. My dearest Pidge, she may gain some legs later in life, but like she is definitely still tiny and I sob, give us short queens some representation because it is so hard out here, and we will kill you (not Allura bending down to her height in that episode she was planning to leave; how NOT to talk to a short person Allura lol 😩)

I think it goes without saying that the whole team, including Keith, are protective of Pidge like as they should be and I just *grins mischievously* can say with confidence that he do 😌

Definitely more of a personal headcanon, and there is a Kidge art of it floating around somewhere in the tag, if they actually had more moments and trained together, but I love Pidge being taught on how to defend herself, especially one on one and like her managing to take down Keith in training and he's just like "⁉️⁉️😳⁉️⁉️” God, I love a woman that can kick my ass trope *chokes*.

I am a sucker for hearing their voices and tone and emotions, so you know for damn well I am listening to them just say the others name in a soft or sarcastic tone lol (I love Steven Yeun's voice, my Glenn 😭, I am a mess for not appreciating Keith before in my initial watch of the show).

Ah, I can go on and off about them, especially about the later seasons but like you're just going to have to take a look of it yourself as you go into it 😌

Once again, I definitely recommend you watch the show for what it is in its storytelling and lore and character development; you can keep a close eyed view of Kidge in the background, but definitely rewind for the moments or stop and pause or rewind for the information given in story.

I hope you enjoyed my nonsense speak and take something away from it or ignore it altogether. I don't mind, I want you, overall, to convince yourself on why you would like to ship Kidge as you watch the show, if at all! We are all here for a fun and good time after the show's initial debut 😌🌿🔥

Welp. That was...something.

Obviously, major spoilers for the Good Omens Season 2 finale under the cut.

I'm disappointed and a bit depressed by the ending, but I have to admit that I'm not really surprised. Something about this season just felt...sad. i know a lot of people spent 5 episodes happily squeeing and then got gut-punched by the ending, but, to me at least, there wasn't the playfulness and levity of season 1 - not even in the happier/more comedic scenes. There was always a melancholy undercurrent: Nina's relationship isn't healthy, Maggie's interested in Nina but the timing is off, the flashbacks focus on the intense loneliness of Crowley and Aziraphale's existence throughout history, Aziraphale's terrified he's a bad angel and he's going to Fall, Crowley doesn't seem to have a clue what he's doing half of the time...Lots of focus on insecurity, unhealthy codependence, bad timing and sheer miscommunication.

That said, I got unpleasant "gotcha!" elements from the way thinga played out, and I hate it when the writers prioritise wrong-footing their audience over story flow - hated it in Voltron, hated it in Sherlock, hated it in the umpteen webcomics I used to read in the 2000s. I'm not going to call it baiting yet - this season was clearly made with one eye firmly on a potential S3 - but with all the publicity, the impression we're left with is "This is a love story! Look, see these two protagonists who adore each other and who you're so invested in? Surely it's time for them to move their relationship forward?PSYCHE! - they're separated, miserable and everything is terrible! See these cute new characters who are clearly a parallel to our heroes, the ones we've focused a lot on in the publicity? PSYCHE! - they were never going to happen, becaise we wanted to make a point about meddling in relationships and sensible time frames after a break up!" (Admittedly, while anvilicious, the moral here was definitely sensible). "Oh but the antagonists, the ones who tried to wipe our heroes from existence last season? THEY get the cute love story and happy ending!"

I admit, plenty of fans saw the Ineffable Bureaucracy coming a mile off. And many point out - quite correctly - that if GO is a three season show following the beats of a love story, this is the second act break-up. I also suspect that, with the signiicant overlap between GO and Our Flag Means Death, the fandom's rabid reaction to OMFD's romantic cliffhanger may have inspired the GO team to bank on a similar reaction to secure season 3...but OFMD is aiming to put its fandom out of its misery in about a year and a half from its angsty ending. Good Omens had a four year gap between S1 and S2. If it sticks with that, I suspect viewer apathy and/or disillusionment may set in before S3.

All in all, I personally feel like I'll be able to enjoy S2 fully only after S3 arrives (and provided it's not equally/more miserable). Which smarts a bit after being so delighted and wound up about Crowley and Aziraphale's return. A waste of anticipation, if you will.

One thing I will say though, is that I believe the kiss was deliberately bad. (If you want to see a kiss where the actors REALLY look like they're being held at gunpoint, have a look at Red Dwarf's Season 7 episode "Blue"). Crowley's furious and desperate and heartbroken - his kiss is aggressive and unforgiving. Aziraphale is miserable and guilty and totally blindsided - he has no clue what to do, alternating between wincing away and pulling Crowley close. I don't think this is an "the actors are finding this tremendously awkward" kiss - it's an "these two characters are in a terrible headspace and between them, have all the romantic experience of a particularly naive potato" kiss. If Season 3 turns things around, I would expect Kiss Number 2 to be even more epic and heartwarming as a result of contrasting iuth this car-crash lip-lock...as long as not too much time has passed between seasons.

I finally began watching voltron

OKAY SO at the recommendation of a super cool person (@imperfection-you-will-find (sorry if you don’t want to be tagged) ) I got into watching Voltron: Legendary Defenders and I just finished the first season AND IT IS A REALLY COOL SHOW. I know I’m like 5 years late to the party but the animation! Characters! World building! All very interesting!! Love how smoothly they blend those 3D models into the show, it’s barely noticeable

Here’s a few thoughts (before I go binge the next season)

- first off it is BOLD that the first episode is an hour+ long. like damn they didn’t have to do that but they did and the pacing is surprisingly good for what they had to do, though I lowkey wish there was more adventuring-to-find-the-rest-of-the-lions because that part was pretty interesting, especially when they talked about having to form a bond with the lions first

- Hunk is a cool guy and I really like how he develops and ends up being one of the more serious characters (when, unfortunately, he isn’t the but of the joke. He’s neat but they make fun of his weight a fair bit and that’s not fun). Love how he has a good sus-detector, also he was SLAYING when he saved people during the season 1 finale

- Pidge is REALLY COOL and I personally (so far at least) headcanon them as enby. they also give off transman vibes and honestly that’s what I thought they were going to do with the character until the reveal. It’s cool how they handled it, and I love that the show didn’t go for an all-boy cast because that’d be disappointing.

- Lance is kinda annoying but he’s growing on me. I’m not the biggest fan but I like how he’s developing. Blue colour scheme is cool, but damn he really put everyone and an entire planet in danger just because he crushed briefly on a girl. Shame.

- Shiro is COOL. We don’t know much about him and the portrayal of his trauma is a really good thing to add. I do find it mildly funny (in a dark way? funny might not be the right word) that like. Lance and Hunk are there because vibes, Pidge is there for vibes but also they were on a mission of their own, Keith right now is very mysterious and gives off many vibes, but Shiro’s backstory is that he was tortured for a year, forced to fight, there’s the implication that his body was forcefully modified as he was trained to be a weapon, and also he’s probably killed quite a few people and he’s trying to deal with that and everything while like, they’re vibing

- Keith is COOL. Red lion swag. Love his somewhat morally ambiguous vibes, also I feel like he’s going to be a big projection character. They haven’t really covered his background other than he dropped out, but I bet there’s a lot more going on. I can DEFINITELY see he is liked. ALSO I feel like the whole “you fight like a Galra soldier” is more than just a one off line. I sense it. Plus the whole “you have to earn the trust of the red lion, you can’t just befriend it right away” gives off big flags of “HEY PAY ATTENTION”. I could write so much about this but I wanna go binge the second season xD

- THE CLIFFHANGER OF A FINAL EPISODE. There is so much I could talk about (the character development, the battle scenes, everything is so cool. It’s like seeing all the things I wish we could’ve seen in steven universe and also I think belos would be proud of the general genocide even if it isn’t religion based). I’ll keep it short and just say that DAMN SO MUCH HAPPENS AND IT IS VERY COOL

I’m going in spoiler free and it’s quite fun! Thanks for the recommendation @imperfection-you-will-find, can’t wait to watch more so I can fully appreciate your super cool edits and posts xD

Yay!! I have some theories for HTN… -_- (spoilers for folk who haven’t read Gideon the Ninth)

Like: Gideon was unkillable in the beginning, and their name was written down in the (possibly falsely-aged) Caanan house, so I have a feeling this isn’t the last we’ve seen of her! Also it’d be great if Corona could have some conflict and resolution stuff with Ianthe, maybe the prior being trained by Camilla?

I think this was supposed to be obvious by the end of book 1, but I’m believing rn that all the 9 houses are decrepit (maybe with one or two exceptions) and death-ridden. Perhaps they visit those? Idk rn my vibe check of this ‘verse is that it’s a dying space empire which BREEDS drama and such so I’m v excited!!

Also also the space-religion-god-emperor stuff does seem like it’d produce complicated and trickery-leaden conflict. As a veteran of Voltron through season 5 and quite a few sci-fi novels, I’m ready to put on my suspension-of-disbelief and space-based-world-building-comprehension hats on and vibe!!

Author Interview

I was tagged by a friend from Quotev (whose account is inactive here on Tumblr). I realized I’ve been posting on here for four years, and never fully introduced myself.

1. Name; Just-My-Fandom, or K. Privacy reasons, I’ll never give out my full time.

2. Age; Over 18. I feel that is the best I can give out especially with some fics I’ve written.

3. Fandoms I write; I started out doing major ones such as Criminal Minds and Marvel, and started drifting into DC (Flash), to Ninjago, to even Steven Universe. Sooner or later I will start writing for Twilight (Which I’ve JUST seen in my lifetime). I also write for Stranger Things, Outer Banks,Voltron, My Hero Academia, and many more.

4. Where do I write; Mostly all on Tumblr. I do have a couple one shot books on my quotev (same username), but have been inactive on Quotev since late 2021.

5. Worst part about writing; Smut. Yes, I am of age, and I’ll admit, I like reading it, but writing it myself I have never been comfortable with it unless it is a character OF AGE. But even then, I get hesitant.

6. Favorite Story; I honestly don’t have one. I love all my stories equally no matter how much more attention one gets compared to another.

7. Story I’m nervous to post; Ooh, I currently have 21 drafts, and the only one I’m nervous about posting is one with Cisco Ramon (The Flash). Spoiler, the reader is in only half of the story, and that makes me worried that no one will want to read it once they realize the reader is no long part of the story.

8. How do I choose the titles to my stories; I just wing it. I’ll choose a standing word or quote from the story most of the time, so it doesn’t ever end up having a title until I’m halfway or all the way done with it.

9. Complete Works; Rocky Roads Season 1 is fully complete.

10. Incomplete Works; Rocky Roads Season 2, One After Another, Brought Back are all incomplete.

11. Do you outline (follow plot); For the most part, yes. Occasionally, I’ll change the plot but most of my stories consist of events that have occurred in the show/movie.

12. Upcoming most excited for; Probably “Call It”. It’s my longest one chapter fit revolving Cisco Ramon (Flash), and it is an alternate plot change to the Cisco Ramon fic I’m nervous to post.
