Boney M. - Rasputin
1978
"Rasputin" is a song by Germany-based Afro Caribbean pop and Eurodisco group Boney M. It was released as the second single from their third studio album Nightflight to Venus.
The core of the song tells of Grigori Rasputin's rise to prominence in the court of Tsar Nicholas II during the early 1900s, referencing the hope held by Tsarina Alexandra Fyodorovna that Rasputin would heal her hemophiliac son, Tsarevich Alexei of Russia, and as such his appointment as Alexei's personal healer.
The song claims that Rasputin was Alexandra's paramour, a widespread rumour in Rasputin's time, with which his political enemies intended to discredit him.
It accurately states that the conspirators asked him "Come to visit us", and then recounts a widely popular account of the assassination in Yusupov's estate: that Rasputin's assassins fatally shot him after he survived the poisoning of his wine.
"Rasputin" rose to the top of the charts in Germany, Austria, Belgium and Australia, and went to No. 2 in the UK, Argentina, Finland, Spain and Switzerland.
It enjoyed great popularity in the Soviet Union, however it was omitted from the Soviet pressing of the album and Boney M. were barred from performing the song during their ten performances in Moscow.
It's pretty safe to say this song put a impressive and unbeatable record in the amounts of votes and reblogs! 💖 This is currently the most liked song on this poll blog with a whooping 94,8% total yes votes.

After 146 days, the Writer's Strike has ended with a resounding success. Throughout constant attempts by the studios to threaten, gaslight, and otherwise divide the WGA, union members stood strong and kept fast in their demands. The result is a historic win guaranteeing not only pay increases and residual guarantees, but some of the first serious restrictions on the use of AI in a major industry.
This win is going to have a ripple effect not only throughout Hollywood but in all industries threatened by AI and wage reduction. Studio executives tried to insist that job replacement through AI is inevitable and wage increases for staff members is not financially viable. By refusing to give in for almost five long months, the writer's showed all of the US and frankly the world that that isn't true.
Organizing works. Unions work. Collective bargaining how we bring about a better future for ourselves and the next generation, and the WGA proved that today. Congratulations, Writer's Guild of America. #WGAstrong!!!

Petitions to stop KOSA + information about Project 2025 Masterpost
Hello! This is my first post on this blog. While most other people would make a self-introduction as their first post, I feel like this is much more important.
So, you might have heard about the revival of the dangerous KOSA bill this year, with a January 2024 deadline to stop it. I've decided to get every possible petition I can find online for everyone to sign. Here are the links:
For those unfamiliar with the KOSA bill and why it's bad, it's basically a censorship and surveillance bill disguised as a way to "protect children".
What it does is it would pressure platforms into using content filters that would censor anything that is deemed "inappropriate" for minors, including topics of LGBTQ, mental health resources, race, gender, and basically anything that Republicans dislike.
It would increase surveillance by increasing the use of ID age verification and parental monitoring tools. This would be very bad for those in abusive home situations.
This bill is unconstitutional because it breaks the first and fourth amendments.
This would not only change the way minors use the internet, but everyone, regardless of age, will be effected by this bill. Every site would be effected by this, especially Tumblr.
Censorship will not help protect people, and it only limits what information we're allowed to see, which would give the government more control over everyone.
In fact, the KOSA bill is actually a part of the Project 2025 plan that the Republicans will use to dictate this country. Don't believe me? The Heritage Foundation (a Right-Wing hate group), even said so in a twitter post. (tried posting the video here but Tumblr won't let me)
Also, one of the writers for the bill is a Republican and has even admitted to saying that it will target trans content:
If you don't already know what Project 2025 is, it's basically Trump's plan to turn the country into an authoritarian, fascist nightmare.
Here's an article that does better explaining:
Basically, if any Republican candidate gets elected, they will enact Project 2025.
It's very important that you vote for a Democrat, no matter who it is, even if we have to vote for Biden again.
So with all this said, it's very important that we stop this KOSA bill so we don't give the Republicans a chance to enact Project 2025.
While there are still other Internet bills we need to speak out against, KOSA is the most urgent since it could be voted on as soon as January.
Please do whatever you can to stop this KOSA bill. Call your representatives, call your senators, sign petitions, and spread this post around as much as you can. Blaze this if you have to.

We are not going to let that fuckwad DeSantis gain a foothold in the 2024 election.
You are going to fucking vote for Joe Biden, and you are going to give us a fucking chance to save our country from fascism, and you aren't going to fucking complain about it, because there is literally no other choice.
We will not let another election be a close call. Are you listening?
Vote for Biden. Vote for whatever Democrat is most popular in your local elections. Our system sucks, but this is what we're working with. Just fucking vote.

According to this article, California is likely to have its lowest primary turnout in the state’s history — 29%—"in part because more than 4 in 10 voters are not enthusiastic about voting for president or Congress, according to a Public Policy Institute of California survey."
Further: "So far, Republican voters have turned in 32% of the ballots, according to Political Data, Mitchell’s analytics firm that monitors turnout across the state. . . .While there are roughly equal numbers of voters older than 65 and younger than 35 in California, so far 57% of the ballots turned in have been from seniors and only 2% from younger voters." (emphasis added)
It's not just California.
You don't have to be "enthusiastic" about the candidate you vote for, but you must vote against the candidate you oppose.
Not voting is not a statement of dissatisfaction with the system; it says you are wiling to accept whatever other people decide, even if it's bad for you.
VOTE. Do not let the other side win because you couldn't be bothered to fill out a ballot.
