i’m sensing a very big movement of young people away from the “big” social media (it’s already happening with fb and to some extent with twitter, and i think instagram is next) and that makes me so happy. good for them

#i’ve been off instagram #for quite some time and really loving life ever since #(by which i mean ‘still technically accessible to the two people who regularly dm me memes but never looking at my feed or posting anything) #(i don’t even reciprocate the meme sending i just have a couple friends who like to send things to me that they enjoy so i may also enjoy) #(like personal content curators) #and from talking to some younger folks (friends of my cousin who i was visiting) it sounds like that’s becoming more common #group chats are coming back into vogue as The way for people to talk #and discord servers which is basically just a group chat with bonus features #which honestly. is better. #i would rather have a real conversation with 5 people i like talking to #vs have 30 fake hey-girlie small talk replies on a photo of someone’s breakfast #instagram in particular has really rubbed me the wrong way for YEARS and i hope i’m correct in seeing that future gens are dropping it
