this is from my irl account but i felt like i needed this as a psa on my main too. i thought everyone was kinda in on the joke and knew it was a bit, but i guess not apparently?

rest of the thread is just me lengthly rambling about how tohru ended up being such a comfort character but that wasn’t important.

so tl;dr the exaggeratedly way i go about declaring tohru as my waifu is long-running bit i’ve done for years, and i wrongly assumed that this was obvious to everyone.

#i think this bit is very fun to do because of how perfectly it lines up and i've done it for about 5 years now but #i get very severely uncomfortable when people assume i'm actually romantically or sexually attracted to her #like i am incapable of those feelings entirely. real or fiction i just do not feel those things.#i felt the need to clarify this because 2 of my other coworkers were talking about what they'd do if their anime guy crushes were real #and one of them brought up tohru and joked about her throwing my asexuality out the window (they know im aroace)#and i had to be like 'uhh no no actually if she were real she's the kind of person i'd absolutely never want to be in a relationship with'#and they were like kind of surprised i didn't actually want to date or do things with her?#i thought it was just obvious it was a joke because of how ridiculously exaggeratedly i play into the 'WAIFU 4 LAIFU' stereotype for laughs

for most of them I took “first line” to mean “first sentence,” but I put the whole first line of dialogue for 7 because it felt weird to just put the first sentence. what I learned from this is a lot of my first sentences feel like absolutely nothing out of context though so maybe I really should have just left it at two words lol

interesting that the majority of these have some kind of indicator of time or timeframe, I’ve never noticed I did that before. (as an aside, I updated go home in the midst of my mdzs fic phase, but the first chapter and thus the first line quoted here was written several years prior... so I guess I’ve been doing this for a long time...)
