Flirting and jealousy (Tobin Heath x Reader)
I'm missing the USWNT game I was supposed to go to this week because of Covid, I'm very disappointed about it so you guys get as many stories as I have the energy to write. I hope you enjoy them :)
This was requested by anon. I hope it's okay :)
Words: 1.5K
Everyone went crazy as the ball hit the net. Tobin had just scored the game winning goal, just minutes after coming on. Of course she would have though, she was amazing. I ran, jumping in Tobin's arms, cheeks heating up as her fingers brushed against the bare skin where my shirt had ridden up. I was glad they were already red from the game.
"You're amazing Tobin," I whispered before slipping out of her hold as everyone kept hugging and patting her back. I could only be close to her for so long before I grew flustered. Tobin always had that effect on me, it wasn't that surprising considering I had a huge crush on her. When there was space between us, I was confident, I could flirt and tease, but once she got close or touched me for longer then a few seconds, I started to get flustered.
I sent Tobin a smirk and wink before heading to the sidelines. After signing things and talking to some fans, the celebrations continued into the locker room. Spirits were high as everyone danced around singing. A couple of the girls suggested going out for dinner to celebrate then maybe going out for a drink.
Tobin was just finishing getting ready when I got out of the shower. She was wearing black skinny jeans and off white blouse that she was just starting to do up. Perks of rooming with her, I got to see things like this. Tobin didn't seem to mind as she met my eyes through the mirror, slight smirk present as if she knew what she was doing to me. I didn't hide it as my eyes slowly raked over her body, lip between my teeth, "You look beautiful Tobin."
"Thank you, so do you Y/n."
"You also played amazing today Tobes."
"Thank you Y/n. Honestly, I surprised myself with how quickly I scored."
"I wasn't surprised, you're an amazing player."
Tobin smiled softly, slight blush creeping up her cheeks, but she turned back to the mirror without a word. I slipped my jacket on, "You ready superstar?"
She rolled her eyes, but slipped on her jacket and followed me out of the room, eyes most definitely staring at my ass. Once we reached the elevator, I turned around, pointing to my eyes, "My eyes are here."
Tobin smirked, "Oh I know, I just found something almost as nice as your eyes to look at."
Our flirting continued through dinner. Quiet comments, teasing and light touches. It continued to the club we went to after dinner as well. We barely left each others side, drinking, dancing and flirting. Although, as much as I wanted to follow her lead with dancing up against each other, I did avoid dancing too close to her so I wouldn't get flustered. Things were going well, we were getting closer and I was starting to work up the courage to ask her out. I didn't need to get flustered and ruin it by not being able to speak or look at her.
I thought things were going well anyway, up until I left Tobin at the bar to use the bathroom. When I came back out she was talking to a pretty blonde girl, they were standing very close and the girl had her hand resting on Tobin's arm. I clenched my jaw as I watched, jealousy building inside me. It wasn't my right to be jealous, Tobin wasn't mine, but I couldn't help it. Either Tobin didn't like me as I thought she did or I waited too long. Before things could bubble over, I went to find the rest of the team to tell them I was leaving. Tobin didn't see me slip past her, too engrossed with the girl. Megan tried to convince me to stay, but I couldn't stay to see Tobin with someone else. It hurt more than it probably should have.
About half an hour later, I was cuddled up in bed trying to distract myself with my phone when the door opened. I was surprised to see Tobin standing there, looking concerned. I figured she would still be with the girl.
She stopped beside my bed, "Hey, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, why?"
"You kind of disappeared at the club. I thought maybe something was wrong."
Butterflies swarmed in my stomach at the concern and care that laced her voice, that she even noticed I was gone. Then I felt guilty at the possibility she left to come check on me, "Nothings wrong, the game caught up to me I guess. I'm just tired. Please tell me you didn't come back just to check on me."
"Uh I might have. It wasn't the same without you."
"I'm surprised you noticed, that pretty blonde seemed to be keeping you company," I replied teasingly, trying my best to hide the jealousy that bubbled back up.
Tobin shrugged, removing her jacket and shoes then sitting on the edge of my bed, "She was okay, talked about herself constantly though. I couldn't get a word in, I was just waiting for you to come back, but you never did."
I nodded turning back to my phone, "She was pretty, thought you could've had a good night so I gave you space."
She laughed, "Maybe so, but I would prefer to be here with you. Is that a problem? If you have a big secret date, I could leave again."
"How'd you know? I have a huge date with my bed and a thing called Netflix."
"Mind if I crash that date? You know since I'm here."
"Depends, it's a pretty big date, you might need to make it up with a new one, say tomorrow night?"
Tobin looked at me for a few seconds, making me more nervous. Maybe I had read the situation wrong, maybe she was just playing along and didn't actually like me like I thought. A small smile spread across her face, hand coming up to lace with mine, "I think that's reasonable. I'm looking forward to it. Let me get changed while you pick a movie."
I picked 'Stick it'. It was one of my favourite movies. Tobin slipped into bed next to me, lacing our fingers together, but leaving space between us. This was not exactly how I planned my night going, but I didn't mind in the slightest. I pulled her closer, head resting on her chest as her arm wrapped around me. I cleared my throat starting to feel flustered at our closeness, I tried to push it away and relax into her. It worked slightly, but my cheeks still heated up and I involuntarily tensed.
"Why are you tense?" Tobin whispered, hand running along my back, "I can move over if you're not comfortable, we don't have to do this yet if you don't want to."
"It's not that. I want this, you just make me nervous when I'm close to you."
"The oh so confident, flirty Y/n, is nervous?"
"I always have been. As long as you were at a distance I was fine, but as soon as you got close, I got nervous."
"Yeah me too. So this is okay then?"
"It's perfect."
Tobin pulled me further into her as we watched the movie. The longer we cuddled, the more comfortable I became and relaxed against her. I could get used to this. She kissed the top of my head before speaking, "You don't need to be jealous."
"What?"
"Megan said you looked pissed when you left then you mentioned the girl I was talking to, I just kinda guessed you might've been jealous. Which I admit may have been my plan, but even if I'm wrong, I want you to know that you are the only one I've had my eyes on, the only person I'm interested in. I never even entertained the idea of ending up with anyone else tonight."
I sat up, turning to face her, "Why were you trying to make me jealous?"
Tobin played with her fingers, looking nervous and slightly guilty, "I'm sorry. I just thought maybe you weren't actually interested in me, I wanted to see how you might react if I flirted with someone else. I know it was probably a bit much, but I didn't want to risk our friendship by making a move and you not feeling the same"
"Why would you think that? I thought it was pretty obvious. I pretty much flirt with you nonstop Tobin."
"You kinda shut down whenever I got close to you. It makes sense now that I know you were nervous, but it gave me mixed messages at the time."
"Let's not try that again. I don't particularly like the feeling."
"I'm so-"
"And don't apologise again or I might just have to kick you back to your own bed."
She put her hands up in surrender, "Sorry. I mean definitely not sorry."
I laughed, kissing her cheek. She looked disappointed, eyes flicking to my lips, but I pushed her away. I had a rule of not kissing before the first date. Well, it was actually on the first date, but there was no doubt I would kiss her tomorrow, I just didn't want to rush things right now,  "You're a dork. Sorry Tobes, I don't kiss before the first date."
"Then I'm even more excited about tomorrow night."

CUDDLES AND THUNDERSTORMS
Hello, this is my first one-shot so I hope you'll enjoy it.
English is not my first language so if there are some mistakes please tell me.
Oc x Alex Morgan
~~~~~~
Bailey was sitting on the couch, in her arms a little girl with long black hair and caramel skin. They were watching a Disney movie laughing at a few jokes and standing by in moments of souspance. Alex was leaning against the door jamb watching the scene with a tender smile on her face as she was live on Instagram with her phone.
<auti Ales! Come watch the movie with us!> it was the third marathon of the week watching the two Frozen movies and each time both of them were engrossed in the movie as if they wanted to get into the screen and be a part of it. The two were singing the songs together by now, out of tune like two bells but with big smiles on their faces and Alex would stop everything she was doing to look at them feeling her heart fill with joy at that sight.
Sloane loved staying with them and neither of the women complained about the child's presence. By now she had also gotten used to sleeping together with her aunts and the other teammates envied this relationship, especially Megan who fought every time with Tobin to be able to be the favorite aunt, but it was undoubtedly Bailey. <I'm coming> the woman sat down beside them soon finding Bailey's hand on her thigh letting her know that she was close. She was close to the child but wanted to feel Alex's presence as well, nothing malicious, just a caress that would later bring her certainty.
They had been together for a couple of years that seemed to be passing quickly and in the best of ways, they had even thought about marriage and children but Bailey had confessed her fear in becoming a parent so they had decided to wait, but nothing was stopping them from having evenings together with their niece. <this is the most beautiful part> the little girl lit up as she saw the castle emerge from nowhere, the snow transforming and then molding itself into the protagonist's deepest desires.
The movie soon ended and Alex had to find herself in front of the two looking at her with a big smile on her face. <pop corn> they shouted it together as if they were in each other's head. The woman giggled but nodded and asked Sloane to help her when Bailey's phone started ringing. The phone call did not last long and Bailey started looking for a new movie to watch with Sloane when a thunder intruded on the quiet noises of the house. The girl ended up jumping as she has always had a hidden fear of thunderstorms.
The light that dimmed the world for a moment and then let it fall into the darkness of clouds, the rain that flooded the streets and tapped on the roofs of houses, and most of all that thunderstorm that stopped all the other noises by forcing her ears into its power. Even as a child she had been afraid of it, but then showing it was endearing to the people around her, they hugged her and told her stories about how it was a chariot from the skies catching big rocks that caused those noises but when she had grown up her family had taken her for a childish girl and her cousins had laughed at her.
Bailey steeled herself, however, ending up squeezing her eyes shut when a flash of lightning illuminated the room again. She did not realize she had brought her knees to her chest trembling when a clap of thunder clouded her mind. Alex stopped in the doorway, blocking even Sloane who was reaching for her. She looked at her girlfriend's reaction with a slight sad smile on her lips then lowered her gaze to the little girl. <I think Aunty Bailey needs some cuddles> the little girl nodded quickly running to hug the girl's head.
Alex stood still for a moment, she had never seen her girlfriend in such position, she was the one who usually gave her courage in every situation never being afraid of anything yet, this time it was Bailey who was fragile in front of her eyes and all she wanted was to be by her side and make her feel better. She approached the girl leaving the bowl on the table then put an arm around Bailey's shoulders immediately seeing her shining eyes resting on her figure. Bailey shivered again, a flash making her heart beat so fast she thought it might come out of her chest but Sloane took her face in her small hands looking at her with concern.
<Don't be afraid aunty, I'll protect you> Bailey giggled before smiling tenderly at that scene. She pulled the child towards her squeezing her in a hug that Sloane happily returned. The girl placed a hand on the girl's chest, caressing it as if it would calm her pulse. Alex, who had remained watching them, had tears in her eyes. There was something about that situation that she wanted to tattoo in her mind, she wanted to stop time in that position and stay and watch the two interact in such a tender way. She wanted to carry that memory with her forever, to see it every time she closed her eyes: there was something magical about those quiet evenings that filled her heart with joy.
Christmas? It’s Only November. (Tobin Heath x Reader)
Tumblr media
A/N: Just something short to celebrate Christmas. I know it's late.... Sorry.
You walk into the lobby of the team hotel for this camp utterly exhausted. You play for Arsenal in the UK and the flight back to the US always leaves you exhausted and a little jetlagged.
You’re so tired that you barely register anything that’s happening around you, focused mainly on getting the key to your room so you can maybe get in a quick nap before team dinner.
You’re so out of it that you don’t realise you walked into someone until you feel strong arms holding you up and a voice you've been eagerly awaiting to hear cut through your sleepy daze.
“Watch where you’re going Y/N/N.” Tobin says, steadying you with her arms. You look absolutely exhausted, and from the way you walked into her in a daze, she knows you need sleep.
“Toby?” you mumble, blinking a few times to refocus your eyes on your surroundings.
“Hey babe.” Tobin says, looking at you with that lopsided grin you know she only gives to you.
You start to allow yourself to sink into the woman’s embrace, now that you know for sure it’s her arms that you’re in, but at the last second you jump away, your sleepy brain realising that you’re in the middle of the lobby, where any one of your teammates could see you.
“Where’s the team?” you ask, looking wildly around the lobby to see if anyone saw you and Tobin.
Your relationship with the forward was something both of you decided not to tell anyone on the team yet, one teammate in particular, your older sister and Tobin’s best friend, Christen Press.
It’s not that you’re ashamed of your relationship or anything like that, you just wanted to be sure that it was serious, before getting everyone else involved. You’ve only been dating for six months and because of Tobin’s friendship with Christen you didn’t want to put your sister, and the rest of the team, in a difficult position if either of you weren’t sure about your relationship and things ended.
“Hey, relax. Everyone’s already in their rooms. I was waiting for you because we got roomed together.” Tobin says calmly, lifting up your room keys to show you.
“Oh.” you sigh, letting out a deep breath you didn’t realise you were holding.
“Yeah, come one, let’s get you to bed. You look like a zombie, a cute zombie.” Tobin says, already reaching for your suitcase and the duffel handing from your shoulder.
“You don’t have to take…”
“Shut up, you look like you’re going to topple over.” Tobin says, grabbing your bags before trying to lead you to the elevator and eventually your room.
When you get to your room, you immediately flop headfirst onto the closest bed to you, much to Tobin’s amusement. She watches you with a small smile on her face as she drops your bags before walking over to you so she can take your shoes off and shuffle you into a more comfortable position on the bed.
When she finally manages to get your shoes off your feet and rids you of your hoodie – you got unnaturally hot when you slept, so you would die with the hoodie on – she takes her own shoes off before slipping in behind you on the bed, immediately wrapping her arms around your barely awake form.
“Sweet dreams, love.” Tobin whispers against your ear, grinning when you shuffle closer to her, your breath evening out as you drift into a deep slumber.
˳˳˳˳
“Honey, wake up.” Tobin whispers against your ear before peppering kisses across your face in an attempt to wake you up.
As much as she’d love to just stay in bed with you and cuddle for the rest of the evening, Christen called and told her to come down to dinner, and to bring you with.
“I know you’re awake.” Tobin whispers against your lips, lips that quirk up into a smile when she sees your cheek twitch while she presses kisses across your face.
Your eyes flutter open reluctantly but a smile is brought to your face almost immediately when you’re met with the most gorgeous pair of chocolatey brown eyes you could spend the rest of your life getting lost in.
“Hi.” Tobin breathes out, looking down at you with a soft smile on her face.
“Let me sleep.” you mumble, a pout firmly on your face.
“No, you need to wake up. Your sister told me to bring you down for dinner.” Tobin says, before leaning down and kissing your pout away.
“I hate you.”
“I love you too honey, now get up.” Tobin says before getting of the bed and sitting on one of the chairs in the room to wait for you to get done.
˳˳˳˳
“Do we really need to go down? I wanna spend time with you.” you ask Tobin as you continue to put your shoes on.
“It’s a mandatory team dinner and you need to eat.” Tobin says, coming over to sit next to you.
“I can think of other things to eat that don’t involve leaving this room.” you say, your voice dropping an octave as you run your fingertip along the hem of Tobin’s shorts.
“As much as I would like that, Christen’s going to get suspicious.” Tobin says, grabbing your hand before you can tempt her any further. She knows just how convincing you can be when you want to be.
“But I miss you Toby, god it’s been so long since I’ve had your hands on me, and your tongue, fuck Tobin. We have a room to ourselves.” you say, biting your bottom lip at the thought of Tobin touching you, and her tongue on you.
“We’ll have plenty of time after dinner for me to show you just how much I’ve missed you.” Tobin whispers against your ear, squeezing your thigh before getting up.
“You’re such a fucking tease.”
“Come on, let’s go before Chris shows up here to fetch you herself.” Tobin says, a cheeky grin on her face letting you know just how she felt about what you said.
“Fine.” you grumble, allowing Tobin to pull you up off of the bed.
˳˳˳˳
“Took you two long enough to get down here.” Megan says when you and Tobin come to sit at the table.
“This one didn’t wanna get up.” Tobin says, the rest of the table giggling at the pout on your face.
“Shut up. I just got off a twelve-hour flight.” you grumble, stabbing at the food in your plate.
“Guys leave her alone.” Christen says, coming to your defence when she sees just how tired you look. She knows how hectic those flights are for you, and how bad the jetlag can be.
“Thank you.” you say, sending a small smile to your older sister who just smiles back at you.
“Fine, fine, we’ll leave baby Pressy alone.” Megan concedes, but you can hear the slight teasing tone in her voice.
“Have you finally found yourself a hot European girlfriend?” Kelley asks.
No one notices the frown that settles on Tobin’s brow except for Alex, who narrows her eyes at her teammate, making sure to ask her about it later.
“You keep asking me that, and my answer is always the same. I’m not looking for a ‘hot European girlfriend’.”
“Do you plan on staying single for the rest of your life? You have a prime opportunity to date some of the hottest women in Europe and you’re, ‘not looking’?”
“Exactly.” you say, trying – unsuccessfully – to stifle a yawn.
“Why?” Kelley persists.
“Because I’m already dating Tobin.” you say without thinking, or seeing the panicked look that settles on Tobin’s face as everyone turns to look at her.
“Y/N…” Christen’s soft voice is like a bucket of cold water to your tired brain, waking you up to the words that just left your mouth.
Your eyes immediately shoot up to meet Tobin’s, and you can see the surprise and slight fear swimming in her eyes.
“Shit.” you whisper to yourself when you see everyone else looking at you expectantly.
“Merry Christmas?” you say with grimace, trying to distract everyone from what you just said. But if course that doesn't work.
“Christmas? It’s only November.” Megan says, narrowing her eyes at you.
“You’ve got some explaining to do.” Christen says softly, looking between both you and Tobin.
I'll Always Come Back to You (Preath x Military!Reader)
Tumblr media
Anon request: Hey love, could you write a preath x reader. With military!reader coming home to them both.Just pure fluff😢
3 months, that is how long your mission was supposed to take. Now here you were 7 months later still in Afghanistan.
Your job was very important and you were very proud of the work you did but it did have its downsides, the biggest one, being away from your girlfriends.
“How is it going? I mean I know you can’t tell us why but” Christen begins to mumble.
“Everything is going according to plan, I should be hope by the end of the month” You tell her.
“Really! That soon” You cannot help but smile at Christen’s smile, it was infectious.
But it was the sight of your other girlfriend that now had your attention.
“What’s the matter Tobs?” You ask as she clearly wasn’t as excited as Christen.
“Nothing” Tobin lies.
“Well I have just told you that I am coming home and you face looks like a brick wall”
“It’s just that…well…we have had this conversation before and I got excited the first and the second time even the third but now” Tobin doesn’t look at you instead she plays with her hands.
“Baby, look at me” you wait until she does so.
“I know it can be hard but I have a job to do which is bigger than me. It requires be to be away from you, both of you. I miss you both so much and I am doing everything in power to come home to you as soon as I can”
You look up just in time to see tears falling down Tobin’s face.
“We know it’s hard Y/N which just miss you is all” Christen tells you.
“So how is camp? We watched your came against Sweden, there’s nothing quite like watching my girls tear up the field” you say trying to change the subject.
“It’s going good, we finally nailed that set piece I was talking to you about the other day” Tobin says.
She goes on to describe the play in detail and you smile at her passion. You could listen to her talk about soccer all day.
“What?” She asks as she catches you staring.
“Nothing, I just love to see you smile” Tobin blushes at your compliment. You loved that you still had this power over her even it is from the other side of the world.
“Oh Y/N, I tried that yoga routine you recommended. I was so sore the next day I could hardly walk” Christen rolls her eyes at your smirk and Tobin’s giggle which she managed to cover with a cough.
“Don’t say it” She tells you.
“Sounds like I never left” You say smugly.
“Chris you practically set her up with that one” Tobin says playfully.
“Y/L/N time for briefing” Your hear someone say.
“Duty calls” you tell them “I love you both so much”
“I love you” Christen says.
“I love you” Tobin says.
“Please stay safe” They both say in unison.
You blow a kisses at the camera before ending the video call.
After the brief your sergeant asks you to stay back.
“I know you have been on base a little longer than expected and we appreciate the work you have been doing so we are releasing you from Duty. I have organised a flight for you, if you go pack now you might make it back for you girls’ game” He tells you.
You were finally able to go home and you will be able to surprise Christen and Tobin since they thought you would be back at the end of the month.
Your bags were packed and your were on the plane. In order to keep the homecoming a secret you would have to cancel a FaceTime with your girlfriends but it would be worth it in the end.
You send them both a text saying that you will be going dark for next 24 hours due to the mission to had.
20 hours later, you land in Houston. You look at your watch to see that that have an hour before kick off so you make your way to the game.
Meanwhile at the stadium Christen and Tobin are freaking out as they saw on the news that there was an explosion near the base you were staying in and they couldn’t get in touch you.
“I’m sure she is fine. You said that she was on mission so that means that she wasn’t on base” Alex says trying to calm them down.
“Something is wrong, I can feel it. Last time I felt like this Y/N had been shot” Christen said.
“Christen!” Tobin shouts “you can’t just say something like that”
Christen goes to Tobin and gives her a hug, whispering something in her ear that the rest of the team can’t hear.
“Right, listen up” Vlatko enters the locker room “Christen, Tobin I have seen the news and i want you both to know that you are excused from today’s game”
“I want to play” Christen says.
“Me too” Tobin agrees with her girlfriend.
Before going onto the pitch there is another news report saying that there were no casualties at the bombing so that put’s them at ease but your dark 24 hours were over and they still couldn’t get in touch with you.
You arrive at the game just as the referee blows the whistle and you cheer loudly as you see that both Christen and Tobin are starting.
The game is over before you know it. It was finally time be reunited with the loves of the life.
The players begin their walk around the stadium thanking the crowd, luckily Tobin and Christen are at the back which gives to the chance to get the attention of one of the other players.
It is Ash that sees you first and goes to one of the security guards letting you know that you are family and need to come to the locker room. He escorts you through the stadium, down the several corridors and then you see it. ‘Home Team Locker Room’.
The team had won so most of them were celebrating but not your girlfriends, they were checking their phones and you knew they were waiting for a text from you.
You stood in the doorway watching them for a moment. They were your everything and seeing them in person floods you with all kind of emotions. You don’t realise your crying until Alex passes you a tissue. Turns out everyone had noticed your presence, everyone but the two people you wanted to see you.
“They’re all yours” Ash tells you patting you on the back.
You hear Christen telling Tobin to try calling you one more time and you see your opportunity. You get your phone out of your pocket and turn it on.
Your phones goes off seconds later and your answer it.
“Y/N! You finally answered, please tell me you are ok?” Christen says and you smile at her concern.
“How about you turn around to see for yourself” You tell her.
Christen runs to you, jumps into your arms and you catch her spinning her around.
“I can’t believe you’re here” She says as she places a kiss on your lips.
“She’s really missed you, it has been harder on her this time” Christen tells you signalling to Tobin who is still in her locker staring at you in disbelief.
You place christen on the ground, taking her hand in your as you go to Tobin.
“Am I dreaming because I have had this dream before, you come home then I wake up and your gone again” She tells you.
“I’m here baby” you say.
She stands and kisses you, this one more passionate than the one you shared with Christen which surprises you. Normally Tobin shied away from PDA but not today.
“I really missed that” you say pulling away.
“I have missed you so much Y/N” She says with tears in her eyes.
The rest of the team stand in shock, they have never seen Tobin this vulnerable.
“I hate to break up this reunion but it’s time to go back to hotel” Becky tells you and you, Tobin and Christen frown. “Oh no, I don’t mean it like that. Y/N can obviously come with us”
The ride back to the hotel took too long for your liking. You just wanted to get back so that you could have some alone time with your girlfriends.
As soon as you arrived the three of you politely declined team meal which everyone full understood.
You got to the hotel room and quickly got a shower to freshen up whilst Christen and Tobin got changed. When you came out your were wearing some shorts and a sports bra.
“Those pictures you sent really didn’t do you justice” You blushed at Christen’s statement remembering sending those photos to her.
You lay on the bed between Tobin and Christen and Tobin begins scanning your body and you knew exactly what she was doing.
“This one is new” she says pointing to a scar on your leg then placing a kiss on it.
“So is this one” christen says and she copies what Tobin did.
You had several new scars, none no bigger than a quarter but your girlfriends were very observant.
“We’re not playing this game, despite how much I love where it is leading”
Tobin hold her hands up in defence.
“We just worry” Christen tells you.
“I know you do”
You kiss her forehead and then kiss Tobin’s.
“Is that a new hoodie?” You ask Tobin.
“It is” she replies.
You look at her giving her your best puppy dog eyes. You loved Tobin’s clothes and often stole them.
You watch her take her hoodie off and give it to you.
“It’s smells just like you” you say as you put it on “thank you” you kiss her cheek.
You lay between your girlfriends as you all watch a film. These are the moments you missed, when it was just the three of you.
“We’re really happy you’re home” christen tells you.
“I’ll always come back you”
Hot Lifeguard (Emily Sonnett x reader)
My first story. Sorry for any mistakes, english is not my first language. Opened for  suggestions.
Tumblr media
It was just another day at work. Days like this were one of my favorites. Just a few people at the beach and less people in the water, that is almost the perfect scenario for a lifeguard. Because normally that means no incidents. My shift was almost over, just one more hour and I could go home to prepare for dinner tonight with my girlfriend.
Right now I am sitting at the cabbing along with Josh, my partner for the day.
“No fucking way” I heard Josh yell while loking at something through the glass.
“What? What did you see?” I asked “You’re not going to believe who just arrived at the beach” “Well, if you give me the binoculars I could see by myself.” “There is no need to. Look at the group over there.” He said pointing to a place in the sand “Okay, I’m looking but I’m not getting it.”
Just as I said that I saw a blond girl running a few meters at the sand and trying to do a cartwheel on the sand and failing miserably, ending with her butt at the sand. Yep, now I know of who Josh is talking about.
“Girl, that is the US women’s soccer team, seems like the whole team is in here.” He was really excited “Josh, clean it right here…” (I rubbed my hand on my chin and he copied me) “Why?” He asked, after seeing nothing on her hand “You’re drooling.” “Oh, fuck up.” She pushes me and keeps looking at the team, it wasn’t the whole team but is probably half of the girls.
“Okay, I’m gonna say hi. Do you wanna come?” Josh asked me “You can go, someone has to stay here and actually do the work.” Josh rolled his eyes but got the walktalk. “Fine, I would tell them you say hi, I’m bringing the walktalk” “Go there looser.”
I was just watching a few surfers at the beach, when I looked to my left and saw Josh coming back with the group of girls following him. He gave me a sign for me to come down.
“So Y/n these are the players from USWNT and girls this is Y/n.” “Hi girls, I actually know you all, I’m a big fan, you’re all badasses.” “Thank you. We heard that so was you.” Ashlyn said and Alex followed. “Josh here went to say hi and told us that his coworker was a woman and a badass so we needed to come check out.” “Well, it’s my pleasure to meet you.”
“For how long have you been working here?” Ali asked. “In this part of the beach not much, but as a lifeguard, 10 years.” The girls were shocked “Oh, 10 years? Sorry to ask but how old are you?” “25” “You can be a lifeguard while you’re 15?” “Yes. I was a good swimmer and at a young age I started to learn surfing, I always loved the water. So one day I got the opportunity to be a lifeguard at a waterpark near home, since then I never stopped. And soon as I had enough experience to be a lifeguard at the beach I moved and here I am.” Tobin spoke this time. “So do you also surf?” Before I could answer, Josh interrupted us “Oh yeah, this is almost like an unofficial rule to be a lifeguard, and Y/n is like the best here. Sorry girls, but I’ll go upstairs and check the beach” “Bye Josh, it was a pleasure to meet you.” The girls said and then looked back at me.
“I’m probably not that good, but yes I can surf.” “We would love to see that, it’s a shame you’re at work.” Tobin answered. “Isn’t your shift ending?” Emily spoke this time, I looked at her and the sun was hitting her face, making her blue eyes shine, she is so beautiful. “Yeah, actually. I have probably just one more hour left.”
“So what about you meeting us after it and we can see how good you actually are?” Ashlyn asked me with a smirk. “That is a challenge Ashlyn?” “You can bet on it.” Ali smacks Ashlyn in the back of her head. “Ashlyn, you can’t go out challenging people.” “Just a moment girls.”
I interrupted whoever was saying, as soon as I spotted something on the ocean. I climbed the ladder from the cabin and called for Josh. “Josh!” “Yeah boss!” “Look at the water, 10 o’clock. What do you see?” “There is noth… shit looks like two people. Maybe kids. Go!” I jump in the sand and get the surfboard. “Sorry girls, and it’s a bet Ash.” I ran as fast as I could toward the people, wishing this day could end as good as it started.
As I was getting closer to them I noticed that one of them was a little girl, around 5 years old and the other was a boy around 12 years old. I was going as fast as I could but it looked like it wasn't enough. As I was about to get to them, the boy pushed the girl up, and sank. Fuck!
“Help! Lucas!” I got the girl, put her over the board and tried to find the boy but he didn’t get back up. What should I do? I looked up and saw the girl was using diving glasses. “Can you lend me this? Okay, look, you see these ropes? Hold them as strong as you can and don’t let them go. I’ll get Lucas.”
I know it look like a stupid ideia, let the girl up there by herself, but if I wait for Josh to get here the boy could be dead. So I got in the water and dived trying to find the boy. I surf back up, check with the little girl, get some breath and dive back. I was almost giving up when I felt something on my left leg and when I looked at it was him. So I get his hand and rise back. “Lucas!!” I got back on the board, laid him down and asked for the girl to sit in front of me holding the ropes. He’s unconscious, I need to get to the beach as fast as possible.
I got to the beach and Josh was already there with the equipment and said he had already called an ambulance. I barely got that, the boy was my first priority, I looked up and saw the national team girls were close. “Hey little girl, you see these women over there?” She nodded. “Stay with them, for me to take care of Lucas okay?” She didn’t want to let go of him, must be her brother. Probably noticing my expression, Emily came over and got the girl, she started to scream. But my focus was somewhere else now. The boy wasn’t breathing, so I started the compression. “Come on, come on. Spit the water. Come on Lucas, you can do it.” I must be doing it for like 1 minute, but it felt like an hour, when the boy spit the water. “Good boy. Calm down, you’re safe now.” I put him on oxigen, and the ambulance arrived just in time as he regained consciousness. “Hey boy, what’s your name?” The paramedic asked. “Lucas.” “Hi, Lucas. My name is Daniel and I’m a paramedic and I’m going to help you okay? How old are you?” “12. Where is my sister?” “Hey Lucas, it’s okay, she is over there, stay calm okay.”
I looked back at the girl and went to calm her down. “Hey little girl, how are you?” She came running for my arms. “Lucas?” She asked while crying in my arms. “He is better now, you see? He is talking with the doctors now. Where are your parents sweety?” “Don’t know.” And as it was agreed the mother shows up. “Lucas? Lucy?” “Mom!” The little girl ran to the women's arms. “Where is Lucas?” “Hi Mrs, my name is Y/N. Lucas is over there being taken care of. Do you know what happened?” “No, I told them that I was going to get some water and when I came back they weren’t there so I started to freak out and I saw the comotion here.” They start to take the boy to the ambulance. “Okay, Mrs…” “Grey” “Mrs. Grey, they are taking Lucas to the ambulance right now, they will check on him, he drowned trying to save his sister, I’m going to explain everything to you until we get to the ambulance, can you just pack your stuff? Are you alone here?” “Yes, my husband is at work. And I already packed everything, it is in here.” “Good, come on. And I would like Lucy to have a check up as well, she hasn’t drowned but she could have drunk some water. We don’t want to take risks right?” With that I went up to the ambulance with the mom and then let the paramedics do their job. I hope the kid stays good.
I went back to the post and Josh was there. “What a way to end the shift right?” “Thank god, I found the boy under water. Otherwise it would ruin the day.” “Yeah, and the super boss shows up again to save the day.” “Stop.” “Fine, now get out of here. There are some people waiting for you. Go have some fun.” I had completely forgotten about them, time to go say hi, again.
Emily pov
We were still excited about what just happened at the beach.
“She is totally a badass, she was just talking with us and still caught the kids drowning in the water.” Tobin said. “When she left the girl alone at the board I was like ‘what is she doing?’ and then she just got the boy under water, that was amazing.” Christen said “That’s why she is the boss.” Ali complement.
“Okay, but let’s not forget how hot she is. When she ran toward the water, it was just like we were in Baywatch, and her body. God!” “Kelley!!” “What Linds, is not like you don’t agree with me you were drooling watching her doing her job.” Kelley fought back. “I was not…” Lindsey said pouting, Megan put a hand on her shoulder and said. “Sorry Linds but you totally were. But that’s fine, she is hot as fuck and I think that half of the girls here were drooling, even the “straight” ones”.  She intensifies the quotation marks.
Then Christen intervened. “She also looks like a good person, she looks smart, determined and kind. You saw her with the little girl?” “Hey, I don’t have a competition do I?” Tobin protested. “Of course not babe, but she may be good for some other girls here. And watch out cause she is coming here.”
I looked behind me and Y/N was coming over, she had changed off her uniform and was now just in her swimming suit, a backpack and a surfboard. She was more beautiful, if that was even possible and hotter.
“Hey girls, my shift is just over. So I remembered that one of you challenged me on surfing. So I want to know if she is still up to it?” Ash stood up “Oh yeah, game on bitch. Tobs, Kell are you coming?” “Of course, let’s go.” Both of them replied.
Some girls went along with them for the water, others decided to take a walk on the sand and others were just going to lay and get a tan. Before Y/N followed the girls to the water she came near me. “So, beautiful, can I put my stuff here near you?” “I think so.” “Good, you’re not coming?” “Not today.” “Okay, be right back.” She winked at me and left toward the ocean.
I sat back in the sand and just watched her get some waves with the girls, she was stunning. Of course she was winning the challenge, but who cares, everyone was just amazed by her.
I was contemplating her beauty when Moe sat beside me and asked. “So, are you gonna spill the beans?” “There is nothing to spill. Don’t know what you are talking about?” “You sure do. If you do nothing the others will keep flirting with her and who knows what could happen.” I look at her shocked. “It’s in your eyes Sonny.”
An hour later everyone came back from the water and we went to play some footvolley. We paired everyone up and Y/N ended up being my partner. She was amazing at that and we had a lot of fun. She was flirting with me the whole time and I was hoping the girls weren't noticing it.
We stopped playing and were getting ready to leave, when Kelley whispered in my ear. “You better do something girl, she is flirting with you the whole day, everyone noticed. If you don’t do something we will.” “I don’t know what you are talking about.” She just shaked her head and went toward Ash and Tobin, whispered something to them and they went to Y/N.
“So Y/n, we had a lot of fun today and we really wanted to get to know you better. Tell us a little bit more about you.” Tobin asked. “Well, you already know I’m 25 and am a lifeguard. I graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in exercise and sports science. I give surf classes for kids and I’m also a coach for some amatour surfer athletes. And I’m a sports lover.”
“Wait, too much information. You’re a surf coach?” Ashlyn asked incredibly. “Yeah? Sorry but you were the one who made the bet.” “That explains a lot.”
Becky was the one to speak now. “You went to Virginia? That’s awesome me too, so does Moe and Sonnett, but it doesn’t have a beach there.” “Yeah, I know. I took a pause from the beach while I was studying and worked at a waterpark over there.”
“I got a question…” Oh no, Kelley shut up. “Are you single?” With that Y/N wined her eyes and blush a little, she looked at me and then back to Kelley.
“No?” “You don’t seem too sure about that.” Tobin interjected. “I mean, no, I’m not single. But we haven’t told anyone besides family yet, so…” “Wait a second, so you’re not single? Are you sure? I’m way confused right now.” “Yeah, I’m sure. She actually loves soccer, she loves you guys.”
While the rest of the girls started asking other questions for Y/n. Kelley looked at me with a ‘sorry dude’ look. I understand why she was like that, I mean Y/n was indeed flirting with me, everyone was probably confused as to why she was flirting with me if she has a girlfriend. But they were clueless and I was having a lot of fun with it, so I decided to enjoy it a little bit more and so I spoke up.
“Hey Y/N we actually have the whole day off, so we were thinking of hanging out together and going out for dinner. What do you say? Wanna come?” Y/N looked at me with a intrigued look, but agreed either way. “Yeah, I would love to.”
“Your girlfriend would be okay with that?” Ashlyn asked. “Yeah she wouldn’t mind.”
“Maybe you can call her right now and talk to her just to make sure?” I said, Y/n was really confused right now, she was trying to understand what I mean with that. I just nodded and saw a smirk appear on her face. “Yeah, that will be great.” Some girls looked at me, don’t getting what I was doing. Christen added. “And if you want to invite her, you said she was a fan, we can surprise her if you want to” “Of course, it will be fun”.
Y/n got her phone and made the call. “So who is gonna talk?” Y/N look at me and I nod toward Kelley. “O’hara you think you can do it? She would love that?” Y/n asked “Of course. What's her name again?” “Oh, you don’t need that” She looked at her phone and back at me, I gave her a reassuring look as she started to talk.
“Hi babe. So I’m at the beach now, and there are some girls here that want to say hi to you.” She put on speaker for everyone to hear. “Hi. It’s Kelley O’hara here, and you are talking with half of the national team.” Silent went over the line, the girls started looking at each other and Y/n spoke.
“She is probably in shock, can you tell her about the dinner?” “Yeah, so we just asked Y/n if she wants to come to dinner with us and we also would like to invite you, so what do you say?” I waited a moment and answered on my phone. “I would love to, but I thought that as I was the one who made the invitation I was already invited.”
Everyone looked at me and then back to Y/n, they were in shock. Y/n has that stupid smile on her face that I love so much and answered. “That’s good babe, can’t wait.” We just kept looking at each other's eyes. Oh god, I love this girl so much. When Kelley yelled.
“Wait a minute. Why did you call Sonnett?” “Well you asked for me to call my girlfriend. So I did.” Y/n spoke with a smirk on her face “The Emily Sonnett, this girl here is your girlfriend?” “Hey, what do you mean by that? I can’t date a hot girl?”
With that I went to Y/n side, hugged her and she gave me a peck “And you let me, no, you let us, drool over you girlfriend and didn’t say a thing?” I couldn’t get the smile out of my face. “It was funny and I didn’t know yet if she was going to be okay with that.” “That is no excuse, you should have told me, it is not like I was going to tell the world.” Kelley complained and crossed her arms on her chest. “Okay Kelley, less drama. We are happy for you Sonny.” “Thanks Chris, someone here is mature.”
“Wait, does it mean that now we have to give Y/n the shovel talk?” Tobin asked with a serious face. “No!” I protest. “Sorry Sonnett, we have to, it's the team's rules.” Ash responded. “That’s okay babe, I can take it.”
“Fine, but only if Moe gets to be there.” “What? Why? Moe can’t hurt a fly” Becky said. “Because she will make sure you don’t scare Y/n away, she will be on her side.” “Why would she do that?” “Babe you can’t ask Moe that, just because she is my friend.” “Wait, Moe knew?” Kelley said, trying to look hurt. “Way to throw me under the bus Sonny.” Moe complained.
“Of course, she helped me with the plan of asking Y/n out. We studied together, you forgot?” “Of course you were all Cavaliers. That’s it Y/n you are coming with us for dinner, there is no space for debate. We need to see if you are good for Sonnett. Let’s go everyone” With Megan orders everyone start to go back to where the vans were. I got my stuff and I was about to follow the girls, when Y/n pulled my arm.
“Hey hot stuff, I missed you.” She passed her arms over my shoulders and I hugged her waist. “Hi babe, I missed you too. Sorry about doing it without asking you first. But when the girls pulled over and I saw which beach we were at and that you were here, I started thinking about it, and then you were so hot saving the boy, and the girls liked you so much, and they saw you flirting with me, so…” I was interrupted by a kiss. Y/n ’s lips were so soft and rough at the same time. The way she pulls me closer to her and deepens the kiss, I miss her so much.
“That’s okay honey. I loved meeting your teammates.” “What do you say about us skipping dinner? I really missed your lips...” I kissed her lips. “Your neck...” I kissed her neck, and started to touch her body. “I missed all of this, your body is perfect.” She gave a large sigh and pushed me away “Even though I would love to go to our house and make out with you for the rest of the night. I'm sure the girls wouldn’t approve of it. Let’s go, as soon as we get to dinner, sooner you can get this body.” “Nooo, I’m really regretting telling the girls today.” “The good point is that now you don’t have to sneak out anymore, you can always say you are going out with your girlfriend.” “Okay, but one last thing.” I gave her a passionate kiss, until we heard the girls yelling at us from afar. “I love you Y/n.” “I love you too Em. Now let’s go.” We intercalated our hands and walked to where the girls were waiting for us. This night was amazing and now I can say to the world that the Hot Lifeguard is mine.
Love You or Lose You (Alpha Soran x Omega Reader)
Tumblr media
Request: This is the first part to the Prequel for Playing with Fire. Its right after the 2016 Olympics, and R missed the PK instead of Christen. Things have been rough with her Alphas and she just needs a fresh Start. Barca might be the start she was after, but her mates might not like that too much... Especially when she leaves in the middle of the night.
Basically 4000 words of Lindsey and Emily being idiots, R being sad and Preath and Kellex being worried.
The air was heavy in the locker room, pressing into you like an anvil settled on your soul. You could remember a time when you had felt at home here. Like you belonged here.
A time when Lindsey and Emily had actually loved you, and you didn’t feel like an unneeded (or wanted) burden on the national team (more like your family).
You shook your head, tucking your frame tighter into the small locker that belonged to your most dominant alpha, pulling a leftover sweater tighter against your face.
No. The locker that belonged to Lindsey. She wasn’t your alpha anymore, she had said so herself, but your inner omega still cried out for her and Emily nonetheless. A fight didn’t change the marks on your neck, or what your inner animal knew to be true.
Yet it changed everything if the unbearable pain ripping through your chest was anything to go by.
Another sob left your lips, muffled only slightly by the heavy material of Lindsey’s sweatshirt that smelled distinctly like both her and Emily. It did little to ease your instincts, but you would take whatever you could get right now.
There was no reason to hold back your tears, there was no one else there to see them anyway. No one who would come looking for the source of the distressed pheromones you were emitting. No one to care that you were falling apart. It didn’t matter that you were all in the same city.
They were all too busy trying to process their own issues from the loss. The loss you knew fell squarely on your shoulder. If only you had made that PK, none of this would have happened.
You shuttered at the mix of emotions trickling down your mating bond. Lindsey’s anger and Emily’s clear frustration. You gulped pushing against their emotions with an overwhelming wave of your own. You willed as much calm as you could muster down the bond-forming a little barrier between your omega and their alphas, and shoved your own despair as far away from it as you could.
The block wouldn’t hold forever, but it would do the job for now. Bonds were a bitch to shut down completely, and a permanent block was going to have to be something you figured out later.
Your inner omega growled, digging her claws into your brain. While the human side of your head got why you were doing this, your animal side was loath to deny your alphas the privilege of your deepest emotions. Especially when she thought they could fix it if they knew.
You let out a little whimper at the sound of the door, tucking yourself tighter into a ball as footsteps approached.
“Hey, Kid just thought I’d let you know your Uber is here,”
You peeked out at the kind voice, semi soothing scent, and worried eyes of the athletic. You tried to smile at the woman, but you knew she wasn’t fooled. She knew you too well for that.
“Thanks Bailey,” You sniffled, easing into a sitting position and turning to fully face the woman, and running a hand through your wild hair (only making it messier than it was before).
“I’m gonna miss you kid,” She said, and you could tell that she wanted to say more. But both of you knew it wouldn’t change anything. The deal was done and you couldn’t find it within yourself to regret it.
“I’m gonna miss you too, but you know I can’t stay,”
She nodded, she would have left too if she was in your shoes. Barça was making lemonade out of rotten lemons.
You took another gulping breath into Lindsey’s sweatshirt before shoving it into your backpack, and standing. Your eyes strayed towards the other lockers around you, landing on several items of clothing left by your friends.
“Doesn’t mean I have to like it,” She grumbled under her breath as she headed towards the door.
“No, it doesn’t,” You breathed out, heading towards the various lockers instead of the door.
Leaving here would be like leaving a part of your soul behind. Your fingers traced over the wooden panels that outlined each locker. You only paused twice. Once outside Emily’s locker to steal a coveted Virginia soccer t-shirt and again at Tobin’s taking a re-inc sweater that you knew Christen wore more than Tobin and a LFG t-shirt that smelled distinctly like Kellex.
The quad (as the national team called them) were your team moms, and their scents all comforted you. They would make whatever apartment you ended up in in Barça feel like home.
Bailey raised her eyebrow at you as you stuffed the items into your backpack. You just shrugged. “they won’t miss them anyway,”
It was true, and even if it wasn’t you were sure Chris would still back you up when she found out exactly why you left.
You paused at the door, taking one last glance around the room, looking for some sign to stay. You rubbed your chest when another wave of negative emotions from your mates passed through your bond.
You cleared your throat and shook your head at Bailey’s raised eyebrows. The weight in your chest told you that you were making exactly the right move.
She sighed, leading you towards the loading bay where your Uber was waiting.
“Thank you… for everything,” You said softly, pulling the older omega into a tight hug. She knew you meant more than walking you to the car park. She was there for you when no one else was, and you would be eternally grateful for all she had done for you.
She held you for a long moment, rocking you side to side before pulling back to hold you at arm's length. “You got it, kid. Be safe and text me when you land alright?”
You gave her a nod and a tight smile. “Look after them?”
She rolled her eyes. If those two idiots had done anything even close to what they had done to you to her, she wouldn’t have been nearly as forgiving as you seemed to be.
Then again you were also moving to Spain.
“Of course,” She said, shoeing you towards the car.
She would make sure they were very informed on how you were doing.
****
Christen knew that there was something wrong. Very wrong. Before her phone even dinged. She could feel it in her bond with you. The torrent of emotions that had suddenly shifted into a calm she had never felt from you before.
The bond the two of you shared was a special one, forged the moment she had laid eyes on you (even more special than the one you shared with her mates). The second your small, skittish form had entered the dining hall (tucked carefully under Emily's arm) her omega had claimed you as its pup, and you latched onto her quiet calm nature without a second thought.
She knew you almost as well as your mates knew you, and the bond you shared (while different) was nearly as strong. And therefore your bond with the rest of the quad was also relatively strong.
For an unknown reason, it was keeping her awake. It was like her omega was waiting for a sign, something to tell her that you were safe and sound.
She practically jumped out of her skin at the ding of her phone, fumbling to unlock the screen and find the message you had sent her.
She froze when her alpha shifted against her, inadvertently jostling the two omega’s attached to her other side.
“Wha- appened?” Tobin mumbled, nuzzling into her stomach. Christen sighed at the wave of soothing scents that Tobin let off, trying to calm her nerves even in sleep.
“Shh, baby bear is texting me. Go back to sleep,” Christen said, scratching the alphas scalp gently with one hand and pulling up the text with the other.
She blinked at the bright screen once, twice, three times.
It was five words, cold and emotionless. It reminded her of the call marines made to their parents when they went to boot camp.
Landed in Spain. I’m fine.
She couldn’t help her sharp intake of breath at the singular line, or the anxiety that suddenly engulfed her heart (immediately jolting all 3 of her mates awake).
Before she could even blink she was moved onto Tobin’s lap, and Alex and Kelley cuddled tightly into either side of her. She could feel their concern flowing down their bond, and their efforts to comfort even though they had no idea what had caused such a strong response.
“What’s up with baby bear?” Tobin said, gently rocking from side to side.
Christen’s mouth opened and closed several times as she tried to parse out what emotions were hers, what emotions were coming from her mating bond, and the irritating calm that was coming from her bond with you.
“I…-I don’t,” She stuttered, unable to skate the feeling that there was something very bad behind the steadfast wall you had thrown up in your bond.
“Give me that,” Kelley half growled, pulling the phone out from Christen’s loose grip.
She didn’t like to be woken up in the middle of the night, and she would kill your mates if you were texting Christen because of something stupid they did. You had sent them way too many texts like that already if she was honest.
“What the fuck?” She breathed out when her eyes landed on the words. This was so much worse than Soran being dumbasses.
“What?” Alex asked, yanking the phone away from Kelley.
Be nice,” Tobin chastised lightly, leaning over to read the words that had sent her most dominant omega mate into a tailspin.
She frowned at the bright screen, trying to remember the last time the two of you had really talked. Had you mentioned moving to Spain in passing? Had she just blown it off?
A charged silence hung between them. They all knew you were taking the loss hard, and that you and your mates were struggling to work your way through the slew of emotions that came with it. But they never imagined it would come to this. That you would literally flee the country.
“This is a joke right?” Kelley asked, her voice cracking.
“It’s gotta be,” Alex mumbled in disbelief. You were her cuddle buddy, her baby bear. You couldn’t have left the country without saying goodbye first.
“I’m going to find out,” Christen said finally, taking back her phone.
She bit her lip, pressing your contact picture and holding the phone to her ear. It rang once and then went voicemail. She frowned, shaking her head at her mates, ending the call. Maybe you accidentally pressed the wrong button.
She pressed your contact photo a second time.
Again it rang once and went to voicemail. It definitely wasn’t a coincidence this time, and she would bet anything that the boring automated greeting that came on instead of your goofy one wasn’t a coincidence either.
She sighed, waiting for the beep. “Hey kiddo, um I got your text and I thought we could have a check-in maybe? Call me back when you can,” She paused, unsure of how to finish. She didn’t think anything she said would ease the ache in her chest. “we love you,”
“Call Lindsey,” Tobin said firmly, an order lurking just below the words. If you weren’t going to give them answers, then your alphas better be ready to explain what the fuck was going on.
*****
Lindsey didn’t quite know what she expected when she picked up the phone, but it wasn’t a very annoyed Christen Press on the other side.
Well, maybe she expected it a little bit (she knew you would go to the quad after the argument. You always went to the quad), but she never imagined the words that would come out of your team mom’s mouth.
“Whoa, slow down. She said she’s where?” Lindsey said, sitting up off of Emily’s shoulder where she had been leaning.
“Spain, she said she landed in Spain,” Emily could barely make out Christen’s worried voice through the phone over Lindsey’s low growl.
“There’s no way!” The more dominant alpha barked, baring her teeth just slightly.
Maybe she had said some things she shouldn’t have, but you wouldn’t just run off to another country without telling them. She pushed down her hurt and settled for frustration instead.
Emily scooched away from Lindsey slightly, rubbing her ear. “Babe, if you’re going to be this loud at 3 am, at least turn on speakerphone.” She felt odd, her bond unusually unbalanced. She could feel the torrent of emotions running through Lindsey, but your side of the bond was silent. It had never been silent before.
The two of you had known each other since you were in diapers, and your bond reflected that. She should have felt something. While you weren’t always outwardly expressive, you felt everything deeply, and vividly. You were the fire to Lindsey’s flood, and for your usual smoldering flame of emotions to just be snuffed out felt wrong.
The two alphas shared a look before Lindsey gave in and gave a short nod, pressing the little button. Emily had just as much a right to know what was happening as she did, but she still didn’t like being ordered around.
“You’re on speaker Chris,” Lindsey grumbled. She wrapped an arm around Emily and pulled her closer.
 “What did you two idiots do to our baby bear?” Christen’s voice came out in a growl, the sound low and dangerous.
Lindsey stiffened, her alpha bristling more than it normally would at the tone. “We didn’t do anything.”
Emily nuzzled into her neck, trying to help her settle the mix of anger, pain and shock flowing through their bond. Just because she couldn’t feel you, didn’t mean that you couldn’t feel them.
You were not some innocent party here. Lindsey hadn’t meant all the things she said, but then you had said some pretty hurtful things too.
Tobin’s voice through the phone was low and clear, holding an air of dominance she rarely let out. “Watch who you’re growling at.”
Lindsey gulped. She was never very good at controlling her emotions, especially when things went wrong. It was easier to respond with anger than to admit she was vulnerable sometimes. But she really didn’t want to have a fight with Tobin, not when they both knew she would lose.
“And don’t give us that bullshit!” Both alphas winced at Kelley’s tone. The Omega had the parental tone of disapproval down to an art. She could have been one of their parents, scolding their irresponsibility for mating you before any of you were older than 21 (Emily’s mom had been angry enough to make up for your parents’ lack of care). Emily was sure her mother had used the exact same tone.
“We had a fight,” Emily sighed, leaning deeper into Lindsey. It was more than a fight. It was an explosion of stubborn communication that had ended in you walking out.
“A stupid fight. We’ll call her and have it all patched up by tomorrow,” Lindsey added, pinching the bridge of her nose. Why were omegas so frustrating?
“She left the fucking country. I don’t think getting her back is going to be so easy,” Alex said, and both women could practically hear her eye roll.
All six of them knew how stubborn you were, and getting you to listen was going to be far from a cakewalk.
Lindsey huffed. “Camp is in like 2 days. If worst comes to worst, we’ll just talk to her there.” If you wouldn’t answer their phone calls, then they would just corner you at camp. You weren’t good at maintaining the silent treatment when they were both in front of you. And Lindsey still wasn’t convinced this wasn't more than an overblown tantrum.
“She put a block in our bond Linds,” Christen said sternly, trying to break through the more dominant alphas shell.
Sure the three of you had had arguments before, but whatever this was, it was fundamentally different.
Lindsey frowned. You would never do that to Christen. The two of you were too close for that. At least that’s what she thought.
“We’ll get to the bottom of it. We promise,” Emily said softly, already pulling out her phone. Now hopefully she would be able to get you to answer on the other side.
“Good luck, you’re going to need it,” Tobin grumbled, hanging up.
If those two idiots didn’t fix it, she was going to let Kelley unleash her wrath on them.
Emily bit her lip as she pressed your contact picture (a photo of the two of you with bright 4-year-old smiles covered in brownie batter). It rang 4 times before going to voicemail.
Emily could imagine you staring at the screen, debating on whether or not you should answer. It hurt a little that you had declined instead.
She swallowed down her tears, glancing sideways at her still frozen mate.
“Hey babe, um I know we’re not really talking right now, but um. Christen called and we’re worried. Please call me or Linds back,” she worried her bottom lip, wondering if she should add more, but the time ran out before she could.
“Damn it,” she huffed, tossing her phone onto the nightstand. She hadn’t told you she loved you.
Lindsey smiled sadly at her, rubbing her back soothingly, and pulling out her own phone.
Her thumb hovered over a photo of the two of you cuddled up in one of your famous nests. She smiled wistfully down at it. How had this gotten out of hand so quickly?
She pressed the button, holding the phone up to her ear. It didn’t even ring before it went to the robotic voicemail. What happened to the one that had you giggling because they wouldn’t stop kissing your neck?
She didn’t have time to think it through before the beep sounded. She cleared her throat.
“Hey, um I heard you were in Spain. What’s that about? Call me back,” she too tossed her phone down.
“I can’t feel her,” Emily mumbled after a few minutes. Lindsey sighed.
She closed her eyes tightly with a sigh and began to feel for your presence in the bond. If you weren’t going to answer them, then she was going to make sure you knew how unhappy with this situation she was.
Her eyebrows furrowed when she was met with a wall of unsteady calm. It was like it was pulsing like your inner omega was pacing behind it trying to get through. She focused on the wall you had created and gave it a little push.
She smirked when it bent a little bit to her will. “I think I got it,”
She pushed back harder, the wall you creating molding around her alpha as she tried to reach your omega. She was almost there, she could almost touch your omega. One last push was all she needed.
But just as she went to give it, a blast of calm shoved her backward.
Her eyes blinked open at the ping of her phone and she scrambled to pick up the device.
It was two words. No caps, no punctuation. A simple “fuck off” that they could practically hear reverberating in their heads.
“What do we do now?” Emily asked softly.
Lindsy’s smirk widened.
“We call her until she answers us again.”
“Hold On” Rick Grimes & Daughter!Reader
Tumblr media
GIF CREDIT: http://gph.is/2yDy2U6
Request from @joelsheartache:  I'd like to request a Rick x daughter!reader. The reader it shot instead of Olivia, but instead of a head shot it's in her abdomen but the shot is still fatal. Rick tries to stop the blood flow and says things along the lines of "You're gonna be okay, baby girl! You just have to focus on me! No, no, y/n, keep your eyes open!" You can decide if she lives or not! This may not be the best request, but I really liked the idea!
Word Count: 3635
Warning: Major Angst
Song I Wrote To: “Hold On” by Chord Overstreet
Note: Oof this was a request that I was both excited and stressed to write. I hope you like it
------
When you discovered your brother was missing, you knew exactly where he had gone.
You knew Carl wanted to kill Negan and you knew that he had been becoming more reckless since everything had happened at Terminus. Then, when Negan had killed Glenn and Abraham in front of him, Michonne had told you that something had shifted in your younger brother’s eyes.
You hadn’t been there when the Saviors had taken your people and killed your friends, but when they had returned and your father, Rick, came to find you, he hadn’t hesitated to take you in his arms and make sure that you were still there, that you were still alive.
You were his eldest and whenever he wasn’t home, you were the one who wanted to look after your little sister. However, seeing how broken they all looked, a part of you wished you would have been there. Maybe you would have been able to stop Negan or at least stop him from taking Daryl.
Living with Negan’s boot on your necks was horrible. Every day you woke up and you didn’t know what was going to happen. While you were used to that due to the new world, this was a new kind of danger and one your father was determined to keep you and your siblings from.
That is until Carl decided to go all lone-wolf and test your patience.
The next time you saw your brother he was being led back through Alexandria by Negan himself. You were helping Gabriel in the pantry when they had arrived. Rage entered your chest as you saw the murderer walking alongside Carl, but when you saw where they were headed, that was when you nearly ran after them. However, Gabriel had grabbed your arm, shaking his head.
“Don’t,” he whispered. “Remember what Rick said. Carl won’t let him hurt her and I don’t believe Negan would harm a child.”
“He threatened to make my dad cut off his own son’s arm, Father,” you spat, staring after them.
“But he didn’t and I don’t know what happened with Carl, but he is still alive and looks unharmed. We have to trust that he will be safe.” You pushed away from him.
“Nobody is safe anymore,” you had told him, “and if he touches a hair on Judith’s head, I’m going to kill him.”
The rule that your dad had given you was simple: don’t let people know you were his daughter. At least, not his enemies’. You looked more like your grandparents than your parents and your Uncle Shane had once said that you could pass for Lori’s sister rather than her daughter which had come in handy at times.
Especially when Gareth hadn’t targeted you when he had attacked the church and so you were able to get a jump on him before your father had brought the machete down.
You kept out of Negan’s way for as long as possible until the moment arrived when Spencer Monroe decided to make an appearance. You never liked Spencer, nobody in your family did. He was proud, arrogant, and he had been stuck in Alexandria for way too long. He was a child trying to be a man and you were done with his high and mighty attitude.
When the moron had invited Negan to drink and play pool out in the street, that was when you had finally approached him and the others. Your brother was standing on the porch next to Olivia when you walked over. His eyes met yours and he shook his head, but you ignored him, planting yourself on the grass below him, crossing your arms.
You watched as Spencer tried to convince Negan to work alongside him instead of your father and you had to keep reminding yourself to stay calm. Rick and Aaron were on their way back. It was only a matter of time before they came home. You knew that was what Negan was waiting for, the opportunity to rub it in your dad’s face that Carl had been returned safely.
As you thought about all the ways you could potentially slit Negan’s throat, a cry of alarm brought you out of your thoughts. Looking up, you saw Spencer hunched over and in Negan’s hand was a blade dripping in blood. He was smiling as Spencer’s guts spilled from his abdomen. Monroe collapsed to the ground as his intestines slipped through his fingers.
Negan went to make some kind of speech when Rosita pulled a gun from the back of her pants. You barely had a second to stop her before she aimed and fired at Negan. You froze, waiting for his body to drop, but the bullet had hit his bat instead.
“Shit! What the shit!” Negan bellowed as Rosita looked at him in utter shock. The next second, one of Negan’s lieutenants slammed Rosita into the pavement, holding her down by her throat. “Shit! You just‒ You tried to kill me!? You shot Lucille!” he screamed. Rosita sneered at him from the ground.
“She got in the way,” she growled. Negan, fuming, turned Lucille to observe the slug that now marred her smooth surface.
“What is this? What is this? This little bad boy made from scratch? Look at those crimps. This was homemade. You may be stupid, darlin', but you showed some real ingenuity here,” Negan spat and then gestured to the woman that held your friend down. “Arat, move that knife up on that girl's face.” Rosita squirmed under Arat, but held her tongue. “Lucille's beautiful, smooth surface is never gonna look the same, so why should yours?! Unless... Unless you tell me who made this.”
“It was me!” Rosita yelled from the ground. “I made it.”
“You see, now I just think you're lying. And you lying to me now? Such a shame. Arat's gonna have to cut up that pretty face,” Arat pressed the knife against Rosita’s cheek. “One more try.” Rosita remained silent.
“Oh! You are such a badass! Fine. Have it your way. Arat…, Negan paused as he lazily looked around the group that had gathered. “Kill somebody,” he finished and Rosita yelled, trying to shove Arat off of her.
“No. It was me!” she tried again, but it was too late. In a single move, Arat spun on her knee, pulled her gun, and squeezed the trigger.
The next thing you heard wasn’t the gunshot, but the sound of your younger brother screaming as heat rushed into your abdomen.
-------
“No!” Carl screamed and Olivia watched in horror as you collapsed to the ground.
Carl vaulted over the railing and slid to your side. “Oh god,” he said, trying to figure out where to put his hands, but there was already too much blood. You stared up at him, trying to figure why he looked so stressed, and when you looked down at yourself and saw the blood, the wound, terror entered your mind.
Not like this.
From down the road came two people, running as fast as they could. Rick nearly dragged Aaron who looked to be beaten. When Rick had gotten to the group, both Tobin and Eugene tried to stop him.
“Rick, stop!” Gabriel said, trying to hide you from view. Rick pushed against the men that held him, handing Aaron over to Tara and Scott. When Gabriel tried to stop him again, Rick shoved him out of the way.
And then, he saw you.
It was like Lori all over again. He walked forward before his knees gave out and Tobin had to catch him again. Carl looked up at his father, tears already flowing from his left eye. “No!” Rick cried, agony soaking his voice.
“Damn!” Negan said, “someone was popular.”
“She’s Rick’s daughter!” Rosita snapped at Negan, getting her voice back as the cut on her face bled. Lucille went from his shoulder to down by his side in a single movement at her words and then Negan took a step back, his face full of shock.
Rick nearly crawled to you, forcing himself to be by your side. His eyes widened as he took in your condition. You knew what he was seeing, there was too much blood. There wasn’t anything anyone could do. Rick was shaking as he knelt in the grass.  “No, no, no, dammit, please (Y/N), not like this, sweetheart,” Rick pleaded.
“(Y/N),” Carl choked out, trying to get you to look at him.
“No, I promised her,” Rick cried. “I promised Lori I would keep you safe! All three of you, I was supposed to protect all three of you…” Weak, you reached for your dad, sliding your hand up his face to feel the stubble that you loved so much. Blood smeared along his cheek as you tried to memorize the feel.
“It’s okay,” you whispered.
“She’s only seventeen!” Gabriel hollered, turning his attention to Negan. You were only a year and a half older than Carl and while the two of you had grown up together, you had always felt responsible for him and now as you began to not feel the pain, all you could think of was how you didn’t want to leave him.
“Dammit, Arat! What the fuck!” Negan yelled, approaching her.
“You said to kill someone,” Arat argued, but Negan wasn’t hearing it. He grabbed her by her arm and hauled her up.
“Not a fucking kid,” Negan snarled and then he threw her to his men. “Take her back to the Sanctuary. I’ll deal with her later.” As Saviors took care of their comrade, Negan turned back to you and your family.
Your father was leaning over you, brushing the hair from your face. Lifting your hand towards your brother, you ran it along the side of his face. Carl leaned into your touch, his best friend. You tried to wipe the tears that flowed down his cheek, but you could barely keep your arm up.
“You’re gonna be okay,” your dad said, pressing a firm kiss to the back of your hand, but you were shaking your head.
“No, I’m not,” you said with a weak cough. “I’m so sorry dad,” you told him, tears falling from your own eyes. “I promised not... to go… near him.”
“Shh, it’s okay,” Rick said. “Don’t apologize.” You began to cry more as the coldness seeped into your limbs.
“Dad,” you whispered, “daddy, don’t let me...don’t let me turn.” Rick’s eyes closed as his sobs took over him. “Promise me,” you finished.
“I promise, but you have to keep your eyes open for me. Don’t give up...” Rick pleaded and then you looked at your brother, your breathing labored as you mustered up the strength to look him in the eye.
“Tell Judith...Carl, you need to tell her…” you tried to finish, but Carl was already nodding.
“I will, (Y/N/N), I’ll tell her,” Carl promised.
“I love you both so much,” you said. “Michonne and Carol too and...Greene,” you said, not wanting to say Maggie’s name, not even then. “Tell them please.”
“We will,” Rick promised. “I love you so much.”
“I’m sorry, (Y/N),” Carl cried. “I’m sorry I snuck out to go there.” You shook your head, silently begging him to not blame himself. “I love you.” You squeezed your eyes shut as you nodded quickly.
You didn’t try to stop the tears now as they came at full force. You had thought about dying since the beginning of the outbreak. It was hard not too. You had seen so much death already, but you never imagined this is how you would meet your end.
With a deep breath, you turned your eyes to Negan, the only person who would be able to deliver your final message. Negan looked at you, bleeding and broken and he wanted to look away, but couldn’t.
“You,” you said hoarsely, “you need to tell Daryl that I meant it. Tell him I meant it. He’ll know,” you said and then with a cough, blood sprayed from your lips. As you stared up at the sky, your father turned his eyes to his enemy and they were as empty as he felt.
Negan’s eyes went from your father’s face to the hatchet at Rick’s hip. His hand curled around the handle, red entering those bright blue eyes of his. Negan looked as if he wanted to say something, but seeing Grimes leaning over his dying child had shut him up immediately.
Your father and brother held onto you as you lay in the grass of the front yard. There had been times that you thought you were going to die. The first time was when the farm was overrun, the second was when a Walker had nearly killed you while you were out on a run with Daryl at the prison, and the last time had been at Terminus.
You thought you would be ready, but you weren’t. You didn’t want to die and you just knew that your father would stop at nothing to avenge your death and that was something that you dreaded, but you also knew nothing would stop him. Not Michonne, not Carl, and not even himself.
Your grip loosened on your father and brother as you grew more tired. You didn’t know what would be on the other side. Perhaps there wasn’t anything anymore, but there was one person you were hoping to see and that was your mother.
All you wanted was your mom.
As darkness filled your vision, you imagined Lori reaching her hand toward you and with a small smile, you took your final breath.
------
Tara was the first one to crumble.
“(Y/N)!” she cried as Eugene caught hold of her, keeping her upright. Your best friend tried to get to you, but Porter made sure to keep her steady and in his arms. Rosita cried on the ground, guilt wracking her body as Gabriel stood by, saying a silent prayer for you. Carl stared down at you, your vacant eyes pointed at the heavens. He gently reached over and closed them, brushing his hand across your face.
“Rick,” Negan tried, but Grimes was frozen in shock. Instead, Carl was the one to answer the killer before him. Carl stood and slowly faced Negan, creating a barrier between you and the enemy.
“You killed my sister,” Carl said, tilting his head that was very much his father. Negan tried to speak, but Carl shook his head.  “Get out, Negan,” Carl said between his teeth, his hand reaching for a gun that wasn’t there, “before I do kill you and trust me I’ll do it with my bare hands.”
The look on the teen’s face told him everything he needed to know, but before Negan could react, Michonne came running down the street, her katana swinging behind her back.
Everyone stepped aside as she ran towards you and her family. When she saw your body, Michonne’s eyes widened and then she ran to your side. “Oh, my girl,” Michonne said, gently, laying her shaking hand over your heart tears springing up behind her dark eyes.
Rick didn’t say anything as he reached over and took Michonne’s other hand, something he never did in front of outsiders. Michonne turned to the man she loved and pressed a kiss to his head as he leaned into her.
Then, because he knew that there wasn’t an infinite amount of time, Rick drew his knife, turning it over in his hand. Michonne lowered the blade, not wanting him to do it. He didn’t need to be the one to do it. Instead, Aaron staggered forward and opened his palm, ready to take the burden from the Grimes’ family just as they would do for him.
Michonne passed the knife to their friend as he kneeled down and turned your head to the side. Michonne buried her head into Rick’s shoulder as Aaron severed your brainstem and shoved the blade into your skull, placing you at rest for a final time.
Carl continued to act as a barrier between you and the Saviors, allowing your father and the woman who had become like a mother to you, say goodbye. Carl, who was still crying, never wavered.
“We’re leaving,” Negan announced and slowly the Saviors turned on their heels and walked back down the road, but not before Negan plunged his knife into Spencer’s skull, finishing him as he had begun moving once again.
Scott, Tobin, and a grief-stricken Tara followed the Saviors out of Alexandria, slamming the gate behind them. In the distance, Tara could hear the wails of Rick, Carl, and Michonne as they cried for their daughter and sister who was stolen from them.
-----
It was well into the evening when you and Spencer were buried.
It was agreed that Spencer would be buried next to Deanna and you, next to the flower bed. A part of Rick wished he could have taken your body to Hilltop to bury you with Glenn, but he knew he had to keep Maggie safe and not draw attention to the other community.
Rosita had taken a car with Eugene to inform Maggie, Sasha, and Jesus of what had happened to you. Rick knew how much Maggie loved you and he dreaded to know how she reacted to the news.
In the light of the moon, Carl, Michonne, and Rick knelt at your grave. Judith sat nearby, unaware that her sister was now gone forever. In her small hands was a bracelet that you had always worn, one she liked to play with. Carl had given it to her just before Gabriel had helped lower you into the ground.
It was silent before commotion drew the Grimes’ family out of their thoughts. From behind a house, Tara appeared, out of breath with wide eyes.
“What is it?” Michonne asked, but Tara was just shaking her head. Rick and Michonne glanced at each other before getting to their feet and following Tara who was gesturing them to follow her.
Carl stayed with Judith while Rick and Michonne made their way to the gate. What they saw, or rather, who, had Rick running at top speed. Leaning against Eric, bloody and beaten, but alive, was Daryl.
Rick ran to him, halting right before he plowed into the archer. Daryl squeezed Eric’s arm and promised him that he was good. Eric nodded and then left the brothers alone. “Daryl?” Rick asked, completely in shock.
“Son of a bitch let me go,” Daryl explained, shaking his dirty hair out of his face. “Just walked into my cell, dragged me out, threw me in a truck, and dropped me a half mile that way,” he said, pointing over his shoulder.
Rick was trying to understand Negan’s reasoning, but all he could think about was the fact that Daryl was home and no longer in his enemies clutches. “He lyin’ about (Y/N)?” Daryl asked and Rick shook his head.
Daryl didn’t hesitate any longer. He walked forward and took his brother into his arms. Rick collapsed against him, careful of his injuries. He clutched at Daryl’s back as the latter shook from emotion as well.
Daryl remembered when he had first met you. You were strong for a kid who had just seen the world burn and he liked you immediately. Then, you had met Beth on the farm and the two of you had been inseparable. He remembered how broken you were after her death and how you worked to overcome it, getting closer to Tara and your brother.
He couldn’t even begin to imagine you lying in the ground, still and cold. Michonne approached Daryl next and kissed him on the cheek as he held her, feeling her grief as well. The three warriors leaned on each other as they felt your loss and then, eventually, Daryl needed to see you.
-----
Michonne and Carl gave Daryl and Rick a moment by your grave. There was a simple marker and the necklace you always wore, a gift from Shane, was looped around the top of the cross for now. Rick was planning on giving it to Judith when she was older.
“What did she mean?” Rick said, breaking the silence. “(Y/N), she told Negan to tell you that ‘she meant it’. What did she mean?” Daryl sighed, rubbing a hand over his stubbled jaw.
“She once told me that she wanted me to fight,” Daryl explained. “It was after Beth and I told her about my old man.” Rick nodded, knowing the story of Will Dixon and what the bastard had done to Daryl as well as Merle. “I was doubtin’ myself, I didn’t think I could protect anyone again after I lost her. She believed I was a better man than my dad. I guess she really meant it.”
Daryl chewed on his thumb as he looked at the grave, willing himself not to cry. “She was about to be eighteen,” Rick said.
“Born in the winter, right?” Daryl remembered and Rick nodded. “Yeah, Lori mentioned that once.”
“I’m gonna kill him,” Rick said after a moment, his eyes on the night sky.
“No more waitin’, man,” Daryl said. “We gotta fight and we gotta fight for her just as she was willin’ to fight for Glenn, Abraham, Beth, and every other damn person we’ve lost.”
Rick nodded and then Daryl offered his hand to his best friend. Rick gripped it tight. He made a silent promise to you then just as he had to Lori as she died, he wasn’t going to let them win and he wasn’t going to let the world take any more of his family.
“We kill them all,” said Rick, “and Negan is mine.”
@alex-rusell
Autor note: This is not been prove read and i came up with it on the spot so is most likcly sucks. sorry in advance.
Tumblr media
You had been in foster care ever since you were eight years old. Your parents had died in a car crash and you had no relatives that could take you in so you ended up in the foster system. You had gotten through six families by the time you were fifteen. Every time it was something ells that made end up back in the system. They would get a baby of their own, one lost their job ore couldn’t support you anymore, those were the descent reasons to return you. Other families were just in it for the money they received and you were nothing more than part of the furniture or a punching bag for the father of the house.
 This caused you to retreat into yourself and focus on the one thing you loved to do, football. You would often sneak out to go practice by yourself and improve your skill. Sometimes when you had seen the USWNT on the television you would dream of becoming part of it but you knew that was nothing more than just a dream.
The first time that dream became a bit more reachable was when you mett two players of the National team while you were practising in the park.
 Tobin and Christen had gone for a long walk on their day off from national camp when they came across a beautiful park. The two of them wanted to be away from the rest of the team for a while, the teams teasing working on their nerves.
As they walked they noticed the park was empty except for a girl playing with a ball on a patch of grass. Both soccer players decided to watch her for a bit to see if she was any good. I was happy that they did when the girl kicked the ball high up in the air and then bicycle kick it into the trunk of a nearby tree to make it bounce back to her.
“That was amazing!” Tobin yelled, not able to contain her excitement. Causing you to look up at your spectators. Christen slapped her girlfriend on the shoulder but was also smiling. You just stared at them like a deer caught in headlights, not knowing what to do. Even with their sunglasses and baseball caps, you recognized them.
OMG, those were Tobin Heath and Christen Press that were congratulating you. Internally you were freaking out giving them the time to walk closer to you and pick up the ball that had rolled passed you the moment you caught them staring at you. As they came closer you saw they were still smiling but you couldn’t form any words.
“you are Tobin Heath and Christen press form the woman national team.” You state the obvious but it was the only thing coming out of your mouth. Both women had to smile at your shy voice recognizing them.
“that we are. So now that you know are name want to tell us yours.” Christen asked when she was close enough that she didn’t have to shout. This made you freak out more.
“Christen Press wants to know my name, this had to be a dream.” You rambled not even noting that they were standing next to you.
“(Y/N), (Y/N) (L/N).” you introduced yourself sticking out your hand to shake, remembering your manners. Both women shook it was Tobin started to dribble your ball on her foot.
“well (Y/N) it’s nice to meet you and I have to congratulations you on the nice finish.” You blushed under Christen's praise.
“Yeskid that was totally awesome. Mind if we pitch in for a little, it would be so cool if we could play with somebody as good as you.” Tobin exclaimed kicking the ball to you, which you caught with ease. Who were you to turn down the opportunity to play with two players from the national team.
 After that day you saw Christen and Tobin more and more. they became the rocks that helped you weather the storm, the people you could always rely on when you had a bad day. Christen always answered when you called her and Tobin always send you memes that made you laugh and brightened your day. They became your second mothers even if they didn’t try to be.
 They helped you get through high school and pestered you into applying for college and an apartment when you turned 18. They happier than you when you told them you got into MIT. Next to soccer engineering was your second passion. They were there when you discovered you were gay and never loved you less because of it.
 One night after your classes had ended you got a call from the National woman soccer coach asking you if you wanted to come to camp. Just like that first day of meeting Christen and Tobin you were speechless. After he repeated himself you quickly said yes, jumping up in the air hoping he couldn’t hear it.
“Great I let the team know you will be joining them,” Vlatko said.
“wait! Could it be possible you keep it a secret? There are a couple of players on the team I would like to surprise.” You ask Vlatko, knowing it would be hard to keep this from your moms. Vlatko no stranger to the team's antics agreed to keep your identity a secret and that he would call your school to let them know you would be going need more time for your assignments.
After the call ended you immediately started packing for the trip, sending your moms a text to wish them good luck on their camp. Normally you didn’t lie to them but you wanted to surprise them.
  Christen, Tobin and the rest of the team were sitting on the football field. Just before practice started Vlatko had informed them that a new player would be joining them. This caused everybody to speculate and guess who it could be. So while Vlatko was getting the new players the rest of the team was listing every possible player while Tobin and Christen just huddled together with Ashlyn and Ali.
“you think (Y/N) is alright. Last time we talked she sounded distracted.” Christen asked turning to Tobin, who looked down at her girlfriend.
“she is probably fine babe. Probably neck deep into her next project. “ Tobin tried to reassure her girlfriend knowing how invested you got in everything you loved. As the waiting continued the excitement of the team grew. Eventually, Vlatko emerged from the tunnel calling everybody to attention.
“team as I have mentioned earlier a new player would be joining us. So to not longer leave you guys hanging.” Vlatko says while stepping aside revealing the young player.
Christen and Tobin gasped.
“Hey, moms.” You call out while waving at them. The rest of the team watched in confusion when Preath started running toward the new player.
“Did she just call them mom?” Kelley asked out loud, looking just as dumbfounded as the rest.
You are immediately engulfed in a hug by the two women and can’t help return. Looking up you saw the rest of the team watching you, causing you to retreat into Christen and Tobin.
Taking your hand Christen to lead you back to the team to introduce you.
“girl I would like you to meet (Y/N). she is the one we have been telling you about.” Tobin introducing you to the team. Ever since they had met you they had talked about you to the team, even though they had never met you the veterans knew how much Preath loved you. Christen and Tobin couldn’t stop talking about there girl going to MIT.
Turns out you fitted in amazingly well and then when Tobin told them about the amazing bicycle kick you did on that first meeting, the younger players practically demanded you to show them.
Doing something familiar made your nerves calm down and you only concentrated on Christen and Tobin as you kicked the ball up high.
The team held in their breath as they saw the ball coming down and you standing with your back to the goal and kick the ball right into the upper right corner.
 After that, you got swarmed by the whole team who were congratulating you and the younger players begging you to teach them all the while your moms just watched you with a smile.
This was better than any dream you could have had as a kid and you were so happy you met your moms.
Thank You Autocorrect (Kristie Mewis x Reader)
Tumblr media
A late night texting session before a major game against Sweden leads to an unintentional confession, one that leaves you wondering if you’d just ruined your friendship with Kristie Mewis... Or perhaps you turned it into something more?
The hotel’s ceiling was far from interesting as you tried to sleep, the big game against Sweden the following day, a game that would determine if the USWNT were headed to the World Cup, or not.
You jump at the feel of your phone vibrating beneath the bed’s covers, your heart racing.
“Fuck.” You mumble as you search beneath the covers for your phone, finding the vibrating device moments later.
A small smile stretches across your face when you see the name Kristie Mewis put in your phone for herself, AKA, The Better Mewis.
“You’re still awake, aren’t you?”
You smile.
Sometimes you wondered if Kristie knew you better than you knew yourself, that’s what made hiding your crush on her so hard.
She saw right through you, and you worried that one day, that would result in her finding out about the feelings you’d hidden since you first joined the Houston Dash.
“You know me too well Mewis.”
You lay back, your phone vibrating moments later.
“Nervous?”
You nod to yourself, typing a quick reply.
“Again Mewis, you know me too well.”
After a few seconds your phone vibrates yet again.
“If it makes you feel any better, I know you’re going to kick ass starting tomorrow.”
You grin, your cheeks flushing a bright pink.
Kristie always knew what to say to cheer you up, and currently, you were happy that the two of you weren’t in the same room considering you can’t wipe the stupid grin off your face.
You glance away from your phone when Tierna shifts in the bed beside your own, your thumbs absent mindedly pressing keys in an attempt to write what you hope is a message thanking the woman on the other side of the screen.
Just as you hit send you turn, your eyes widening in horror when you realize you hadn’t typed the message you intended to send, instead, you typed a message you’d only ever typed, but never sent to the older Mewis.
“I love you Kris, you mean the world to me.”
You stiffen, your heart racing, as you wait for a reply, sweat forming on your brow.
You wait well into the night, but unfortunately all replies from the woman stop, something that terrifies you.
What if you’d scared her off?
The two of you were never the type to say that you loved one another, but now, there was no taking it back, according to the tiny checkmark beside your message, telling you that Kristie had indeed read the message.
You drop your phone on the bed, your hands covering your flushed face.
“What the fuck did I just do?”
                                                            ***
The following morning the second your eyes lock with Kristie’s the two of you turn away from one another, missing the way the other blushes.
You rub the back of your neck, unable to work up the nerve to look at her again.
Your teammates curiously glance your way, noting the flush in not only your cheeks, but Kristie’s as well.
“What’s that about?” Mallory whispers to Sam who shakes her head.
“No clue.”
Emily hums.
“Want to bug Y/N until she tells us what’s up?” She asks the others with a smirk, and Kelley snorts.
“Fuck yeah.”
                                                            ***
Unfortunately, no matter how hard the two try they’re unable to get a scrap of information out of you, in fact, you remained absolutely silent on the way to the stadium, the feel of Kristie’s blue orbs boring into your back the entire way.
The moment the bus screeches to a halt you’re on your feet, everyone watching worriedly as you rush off the bus before any of them can even move.
“What was that about?” Alex asks, her brows furrowed and Kelley shrugs.
“We tried to get whatever was bothering her out of her, but she wouldn’t budge.”
Meanwhile towards the back of the bus, Sam turns towards Kristie, the blonde’s blue orbs still staring intently at the bus’s exit, as if hoping you’d reappear, but of course, you don’t.
“Kris?” Sam whispers, her older sister jumping as she turns towards her.
“Ye-Yeah?” She stutters, clearing her throat and Sam frowns.
“Are you alright?” She asks and Kristie nods, glancing yet again at the bus’s exit before turning back to her younger sister.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?”
                                                            ***
Kristie tried, and unfortunately failed to grab your attention during practice seeing as you’d done any and everything you could to avoid her.
The first time she sees your eyes on her is during the National Anthem, the song playing in the background as you glance nervously her way, immediately turning away when her eyes catch yours.
Kristie takes a deep breath, wanting nothing more than to talk about what had transpired the night before, but she couldn’t, right now, the two of you needed to focus on the career defining challenge before you, a challenge that would either make, or break your road to the World Cup.
The anthem ends, the starters, and everyone on the bench huddling around one another for one final pep talk before taking the field.
Kristie squeezes between you and Tobin, the blonde earning an arched brow from the forward who smiles when she realizes Kristie’s arm has slipped around your middle.
You stiffen, your eyes as wide as saucers at the feel of Kristie’s arm slipping around you, the blonde giving you a squeeze.
You zone out after that, your cheeks flushed as your hands meet in the middle, Kristie’s hand resting on top of yours as you all shout, USA, before you break up.
Kristie’s arm doesn’t leave you, the woman tightening her hold on you until you turn her way, the woman’s blue orbs locking with your Y/E/C’s.
“You’ve got this, good luck out there.” She whispers softly and you swallow hard.
“Th-Thanks Kris.”
Your eyes widen when her arm slips from around you, the blonde cupping your cheeks.
She simply looks at you for a minute before she pushes herself up on her tiptoes, the blonde pressing a kiss to your forehead.
“I believe in you.” She whispers against your flushed skin, pressing another kiss to the same spot before she releases you and jogs off field, leaving you frozen in place.
You blink once, your throat bobbing as you turn your head towards the sidelines, immediately catching Kristie’s blue orbs on you, a smile stretching across her face.
“Go!” She whispers yells, nodding towards the field where nearly everyone is already in place.
You grimace before you sprint off and onto the field, rushing to get in place, Kristie watching you go with a grin.
She wasn’t sure what would happen next, but she knew whatever happened she wanted you to be there.
You skid to a halt once you reach the middle of the field, your heart racing in your chest.
A grin stretches across your face at the prospect of what may happen further down the road with the older Mewis, but right now, you had a game to play, and you were more than ready to play it.
“Let’s do this.”
subtle hints (jackie groenen x muwfc!reader)
Tumblr media
surprisingly, an injury might just be the turning point you needed.
(ft. preath as team moms)
word count: 2697 ish
rated T for this is feeding into my massive jackie crush but oh well and F for fluffy babies
——
christen shook her head as she watched you and jackie from across the field.
you were laughing at something jackie said, completely missing the loving stare the midfielder gave you.
“she’s so oblivious isn’t she?”
christen nods at tobin, who then wraps her arms around her.
“if i were pinoe i would intervene, but i’m not, so i guess we’ll just have to see who does it first,” christen sighs.
“i’ll-“
“tobin no we’re not going to bet on people’s lives!”
“shh i wasn’t done talking. i’ll bet you a coffee date that it’s y/n.”
christen thought about it for a minute.
“are you kidding? it’s totally going to be jackie. you’re on.”
tobin and christen glanced back at the two of you, jackie letting out a squeal when you pick her up over your shoulder and run around.
the two watch in silence until tobin says:
“wait isn’t jackie a judo champion?”
~~
“yeah i’m just really grateful for this team, casey’s done a really good job bringing us-“
your interview is interrupted when jackie jumps onto your back.
you grunt at the impact and stumble a bit before maintaining your balance again.
“jacks im in an interview,” you mutter quietly.
jackie only gives the interviewer a charming smile before laying her chin on your head, mumbling back:
“so what? i can still scare you whenever i want.”
the way she said it made you just a little bit nervous.
it sounded almost, flirty.
your heart skipped a little at the prospect of that but you shook it off and gave the interviewer a smile.
“sorry what was the question again?”
you finished the interview a few minutes later with jackie still on your back.
“you gave me a heart attack earlier you know?”
jackie just giggled and said:
“oh i know, that was the point.”
you rolled your eyes and pretended to drop her, the midfielder letting out a yelp when you do so, but when you catch her again she slaps the back of your head.
“don’t do that you-“
“oh sorry did i give you a heart attack?”
jackie huffs in annoyance but still wraps her arms around your neck.
the two of you walked- well more like you walked back to the locker room, manchester united having just won their game against west ham.
the locker room was met with cheers, especially aimed at tobin and christen, who both got their first goals this game (and russo who had a brace).
all through casey’s locker room speech, jackie was next to you on the bench with her head on your shoulder.
your eyes met christen’s, who gave you a knowing smile but you just responded by tilting your head in confusion.
to add to your confusion, when tobin turned to christen, she saw the two of you gave you a teasing wink, with you just furrowing your eyebrows in response.
however, the second half of casey’s briefing was barely heard by you, because in jackie’s boredom she decided to start running her fingers up and down you leg.
yeah there’s no way you could focus on what casey was saying.
across the room tobin almost bursts out laughing.
“y/n looks like she’s about to combust.”
christen looks at you after tobin’s whisper and has to bite back a smile upon seeing your state.
luckily for you the second half of the briefing was fairly short, and when casey dismissed everyone, you shot up out of your seat, a blush crawling up your neck.
“are you okay?” a concerned jackie asked from beside you.
“no i’m fine just- just had to stretch my legs that’s all. they were falling asleep.”
jackie furrows her eyebrows a little but nods, accepting that response.
on your way back to the bus, jackie grabbed your hand and intertwined her fingers with yours, pulling you with her.
your cheeks flushed red at the act, but you followed her nonetheless.
she held your hand through the remainder of the trip all the way back to the apartment you shared with her, christen, and tobin, who gave you very pointed looks through it all.
tobin whispers to christen when she sees jackie give you a kiss on the cheek.
“y/n is so oblivious that i agree with you it’s going to be jackie. is it too late us to call off the bet?”
~~
you jumped up and down, nerves eating up at you in the locker room.
you were the last one left in the room, everyone else having walked out and began warming up.
it was the game against arsenal, one of the most hyped games of the FAWSL, one that would determine who would sit atop the league table.
and you were in your head.
you often had prematch nerves, but they got especially bad in big games.
you were worried.
what if you messed up?
what if you had the one chance and you blew it and then-
“you know everyone is outside right?”
a soft voice took you out of your thoughts and you spun around to see jackie, with an even softer smile plastered on her face.
your nerves were clearly visible, jackie let out a knowing sigh before adding:
“you’ll do great y/n. you’re one of the best forwards i know and you’ll kill it today okay?”
you gulp and nod, still jumping up and down, trying to shake off your nerves.
jackie watches you for a little bit before pulling you into a hug.
your jumping stops and your body softens immediately at the contact, releasing all the tension and stress you had up to that point.
the two of you stood silent for a while, your body sagging into hers, the midfielder’s hand tracing patterns onto your back.
when jackie pulls away a few moments later and looks at you with so much admiration in her eyes, it makes your heart stop in your chest for just a bit.
the two of you forget your surroundings, your hands falling to her waist while hers sat around your neck.
unbeknownst to you, you were glancing at jackie’s lips, and she noticed, a faint blush present on her cheeks.
then before anything could happen,
“hey what are you guys-oh.”
jackie turned and shot away from you so fast it was a wonder that she didn’t get whiplash from it.
tobin stood frozen in the doorway.
you were confused.
you stood there glancing back and forth between tobin and jackie, one frozen in the doorway (still) and the other sporting a bright red blush.
“what’s happening?”
no one answered your question, and the three of you stood in silence until tobin snapped out of her phase and muttered:
“fuck chris is going to kill me.”
and now you were even more confused.
“what? can someone tell me what’s happening?”
jackie cleared her throat before saying:
“nothing! let’s all get back to warmups now!”
with that said, jackie rushed out onto the pitch, leaving you and a very bothered tobin in the room.
you glanced at tobin in confusion once more, and followed jackie out of the room.
~~
it was tough, no doubt about it.
the game was deadlocked at 0-0 for the entirety of the first half, and everyone was getting a little frustrated at it.
after a brief halftime talk, the second half began and everything was fine until the 60th minute.
you get the ball via a short pass from jackie, and you were making a good run up the pitch before you saw her.
daan was chasing you and slid in, tackling you and knocking the ball away.
her tackle was unfortunately a little late.
you fell at an awkward angle, your ankle twisting slightly in the process as you go down with a pained cry.
jackie’s at your side in a flash, face full of worry.
seconds later christen and tobin run over, the former cradling your head as tobin calls for the medical team to take a look at you.
“it hurts,” you mutter quietly.
“oh i know i know everything will be fine okay?” christen said soothingly, gently stroking your head.
as the medical team arrive, they take one look at your ankle before giving you a diagnosis.
you would have to sit out.
for the next few weeks.
it was sprained.
fuck.
suddenly you hear a loud scream in dutch, looking up to see jackie face to face with daan.
the normally happy and smiley girl was livid now, screaming at the other dutch midfielder.
you saw christen nudge tobin to get up to try to console jackie, and viv and jill hopped in as well to calm the two dutch midfielders.
jackie still didn’t relent, screaming at the three of them now in addition to daan, mostly in dutch so tobin was left in a very confused state.
you had enough.
“help me up.”
christen furrowed her eyebrows.
“no, y/n you need to lie still you’ll hurt-“
“i said help me up.”
“y/n no.”
“if you don’t help me up i will figure out a way to get up by myself.”
christen sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose before relenting.
by now beth came to console daan, who seemed to calm down a little bit with the forward beside her.
you fight your way out of christen’s grasp and hobble over towards jackie, who at this point is still screaming, and place a hand on her shoulder.
she stops immediately and turns around to look at you.
“why are you up?! your ankle- you need to-“
“jack. calm down i’m okay.”
“no you’re not! you shouldn’t be up- you need to lie down you’ll hurt your ankle if you keep standing and-“
“jack. seriously. i’m okay.”
jackie nodded with a little bit of uncertainty, worry written all over her face.
“promise me something?”
“depends on what it is,” jackie said, narrowing her eyes suspiciously.
“promise me you won’t kill daan?”
“she went for your ankle! how can i-“
“promise me.”
“i promise i will try not to-“
“jack.”
“fine fine i promise.”
“okay good. i’m fine okay?”
jackie nodded, giving you a hug before trying to help you off the pitch.
“jack you still have a game to play,” you laugh.
“i don’t care i just want to help you-“
“i will call casey if you don’t let go of me.”
jackie gasps.
“you wouldn’t.”
“watch me.”
“i-“
“casey! one of your midfielders is running away!”
“you’re an asshole you know that?” jackie mutters.
you give her a cheeky grin before she whispers again:
“i’d punch you if you weren’t injured.”
“groenen!”
jackie’s head whips around when she gets called by casey, and she relents, letting you make your way off the pitch with the medics.
~~
christen gets subbed out in the 75th minute.
she comes in to check on you immediately.
“how’s the ankle?”
you let out a defeated sigh before saying:
“sprain. i’ll be out for the next month.”
christen wraps her arms around you to comfort you.
“did jackie kill daan?” you mumble, face covered by christen’s arm.
“no your girlfriend didn’t kill anyone.”
you blush a little at her words.
“she’s not my girlfriend,” you pout.
christen pulls back to look at you.
“yet.”
“chris!”
“i’m just saying!”
“jackie’s not my girlfriend. plus hypothetically speaking, even if i did like her she doesn’t even like me back.”
“you don’t know that!”
“yes i do i-“
“you won’t know if you don’t ask her.”
“i said hypothetically! i don’t like her! she’s just my best friend!”
“sure y/n, i mean tobin and i were best friends once.”
“that’s different.”
“is it though?”
upon seeing your silence, christen pulled back a little bit and gave you another hug.
both of you jump when you hear screaming and cheers outside, most likely from someone finally scoring a goal.
“i think we scored.”
“how do you know?”
christen blushed before saying, “i’m pretty sure i just heard tobin cheer.”
you fake a gag and christen gives you a little shove.
the two of you talk a bit about how you’re adjusting to manchester and about the us team.
the clicking of cleats on the ground is what makes the both of you look up.
“what’s-“
“hi jack.”
christen shot up out of her seat.
“i’m going to go look for tobin.”
the forward hurriedly rushed out of the room and now it was just the two of you in the room.
the midfielder walked a bit more until she was right in front of you.
“how’s the ankle?”
“oh just a sprain, don’t worry jack.”
“how long are you going to be out?”
“about a month.”
jackie lets out frustrated sigh and runs her hands through her ponytail.
“i should’ve broken her ankles-“
“jack!”
you try to stand up, before jackie shoves you back down.
“no. you’re going to hurt yourself. stop.”
you sigh and pout, looking up at the midfielder.
fuck she’s pretty.
“pouting won’t work y/n, even if it is cute.”
your cheeks flush hard at her words.
maybe christen was right?
maybe you did like her?
“hey.”
jackie’s voice snaps you out of your thoughts.
“what’s on your mind?”
you shake your head, whispering a quick “nothing” before glancing down at your bandaged ankle.
you let in a sharp intake of breath when jackie tilted your head up with her hand propped under your chin.
“no what’s the matter?”
you gulp, trying your best not to get lost in the midfielder’s strikingly blue eyes.
“i- i like you,” you blurt out suddenly, cheeks flushing red at your sudden confession.
jackie’s eyes widen a little in surprise but her grip under your chin never falters.
“i-“
jackie’s response gets cut off when tobin walks in.
“hey! how’s my favorite forward do-“
the older forward stops suddenly upon seeing the position the two of you are in, and backs away slowly.
both of you laugh at her reaction, before you turn to one another.
at this point jackie still hadn’t replied and you were getting a little nervous.
“i get it if you don’t want to be friends with me or something- i didn’t mean to make it weird and-“
you’re cut off by jackie’s laugh.
you furrow your eyebrows.
“and now you’re laughing? did i do something?”
jackie looked at you, eyes bright before saying:
“i’m just relieved. i’ve been flirting with you ever since you joined united dummy.”
“oh. oh.”
your cheeks are a little red, and you start to say:
“oh um i’m a little oblivious i guess? i’m-“
jackie cuts you off when she kisses you.
you gasp a little in surprise but kiss her back softly, pulling her down into your lap.
your hands fell to her waist, one of jackie’s arms draped over your shoulder.
tobin’s wolf whistle is what makes the two of you break away.
the two of you hear a slap and a “tobin!” and a “sorry!” before you turn to the doorway.
you blush when you see casey and the majority of the team (and some of the arsenal players) who came to check on you.
jackie suddenly realized the position she was in and shot up out of your lap, face painted scarlet.
thank god for you, casey didn’t comment on it, only briefing you a bit over your ankle.
however, your teammates weren’t as kind.
as soon as casey left the room cheers and whistles broke out.
“damn jackie!”
“that’s why you were trying to kill daan!”
“aw your girlfriend got injured!”
you and jackie stood blushing, but all and all you were met with lots of supportive teasing.
“hey who said it first?”
you blushed before muttering, “i did.”
“YES YOU OWE ME A COFFEE DATE CHRIS!”
christen lets out a sigh before mumbling:
“i shouldn’t have helped you y/n.”
What?
It was time for team bonding in Megan and Ash room. To say that you weren't excited was an understatement. When they host team bonding something always goes wrong and someone ends admitting or doing something they don't want to. It usually doesn't end well.
We ended the room and you instantly flopped down on the bed between Tobin and Lindsey as everyone was filling into the room
"You look excited" Lindsey laughed at you
"So excited" I  said sarcastically
"You'll be fine, everyone tends to protect you since you're the baby of the team" Tobin said wrapping an arm around me causally
"I'm 21" I exclaimed
"Still the baby of team" Emily laughed as she jumped on to the end of the bed facing us
"Okay ladies, for team boding today we are going to play truth or dare." Megan said as a few us groaned, me being one of them.
"Okay, me first" Ash said looking around the room for who her target would be.
"Emily, truth or dare?"
"Dare"
"I dare you to give us a strip tease for a minute"
"Bet" Emily said with a smirk and laugh
Her strip tease consisted of mainly her rooming her clothes as she danced funny, causing us all to laugh the whole time.
"enough" Ash said with a laugh as Emily started putting her clothes back on
"(Y/n), truth or dare?" Emily said with a smirk
"Dare" I said causing Emily to look at me in shock. Normally I choice truth with her since she always make me do crazy things.
"What are you hiding?" Emily said narrowing her eyes at me and causing a lot of the veteran to look at me
"What makes you think I'm hiding something?" I asked even though she wasn't wrong
"You never picks dare from Emily" Rose said causing me to shrug my shoulder
"I dare you to tell me what you hiding?" Emily said with a smirk causing me to roll my eyes.
"Are you drinking?" Carli asked
"I'm 21, so yes"
"Were you arrested?" Tobin asked from next to me as I gave her a really look to which she responded "just making sure"
"Are you doing drugs?" Emily asked
"No!"
"Are you dating someone?" Mal asked
"Still single" I replied
"Let me guess, you finally had sex" ash said with a laugh
"Yeah" I replied nonchalantly
"Are you... wait what?" Sam said looking at me while everyone was also looking at me not talking
"What?" I asked confused
"You aren't a virgin anymore! Who corrupted you?" Christen exclaimed while everyone but one person was looking at me in shock
"When?" Julie asked
"Why didn't you tell us?" Emily asked
"About time!" Megan said with a laugh
"Megan!" Ali scolded her
"What?" Megan said giving you a thumbs up
"Thanks" I  laughed as every glared me  so i stopped but I  felt one specific pair of eyes on me that I ignored
"Who was it and when?" Lindsey asked from next to me. Feeling panic rise a little, i did not want anyone to know who. I didn't think it was a big deal, just like it wasn't with Mal or Tierna.
"Doesn't matter, you guys know so let's move on"
"Christen, Becky, Kelley how did you guys not know this? You guys play with her in Utah. Who does she hang out with"  Julie asked looking at he three of them
"If any of us know,it would be Kelley. That is who she is always with" Becky said as then everyone turns to Kelley and I  felt panicked and you could see it in her eyes also
"She know" Alex said with a smirk causing me to shrink back into Tobin who was watching me with amusement and curiosity to my reaction of trying to hide
"So what if I do? I'm still not telling you" Kelley said with a smirk, sparing a glance at you.
This glance causing Christen to think over your two's relationship in Utah. You watched as Christen connected the dots and looked between you two in shock before just looking at you causing Tobin to figure out to.
We are so dead I thought as I hide my face in Tobin shoulder
"No" Christen said looking at me and at the moment Kelley took off sprinting out of the room
"No way! You had sex with Kelley!" Emily said laughing causing me to with draw from hiding my face to look at everyone reaction who looked shocked or confused.
"I'm going to kill Kelley" I said as I  felt a blush appear on your face at my confession
"Not if we get to her first" Ash said as a group of the veteran went out to chase after her.
I Love Her... New Haircut (Christen Press x Reader)
Tumblr media
“Hey Pressy, where’s your girlfriend?” Kelley sing songs quietly as she sits next to Christen who is one of the few people already dressed and glammed.
“Kelley!” Christen says in a warning tone, checking to see if anyone else heard what the defender said.
See, you and Christen had been dating for a little over a year now but you kept it a secret so that you could explore your relationship in private and without any meddling from any teammates.
Your families knew obviously, and of course Christen told Tobin because she’s her best friend and Kelley was your best friend so you had to tell her, especially when she waltzed into your apartment one time and walked in on you and Christen making out in the kitchen.
“Sorry, but where is she?” Kelley says.
“I don’t know, they pulled her away to another room the minute we got here, and she forgot her phone here with me.” Christen says.
“That’s sad.” Kelley says a little disappointed that she couldn’t spend time with her best friend before the craziness of the award show.
“Tell me about it. It’s been over an hour since I’ve seen her. I miss her.” Christen says, sounding equally as disappointed. Her mood was definitely not fitting the sunny yellow suit she currently had on.
“Well at least you’ll see her soon, right? I mean, aren’t we supposed to be leaving in half an hour, she can’t take that long, can she?” Kelley asks, trying to cheer Christen up.
“She shouldn’t, normally she gets done for these things pretty quickly.” Christen says.
“You’re right, she normally is one of the first ones done.” Kelley says thoughtfully.
“Hey, why do you look so sad?” Tobin asks when she comes to sit next to Christen and Kelley.
“Chris is upset because Y/N’s been kinda M.I.A. and she misses her.” Kelley explains.
“Aww.” Tobin says, wrapping her arm around Christen’s shoulders.
“I’m sure she’ll be done soon.” Tobin says reassuringly.
“I hope so.” Christen mumbles, wondering what could be taking her girlfriend so long.
˳˳˳˳
“Ok, seriously, where the fuck is she? We need to go!” Megan asks loudly as the whole team waits for one person, you.
“For the hundredth time, I don’t know.” Kelley says, getting a little annoyed with everyone asking where you are. This was like the tenth time and she was sick of it.
“Why does Pinoe look like she’s going to kill someone?” you ask, walking up behind Christen who is standing a little away from the group, anxiously waiting for you.
“Y/N’s late and we need to go.” Christen says, not looking back and not registering that it was you talking to her.
“But I’m right here.” you say with an amused smile and Christen immediately turns around.
She’s speechless when she sees you, her eyes going wide when she sees your freshly cut hair.
Christen bites her lip as she stares at your short hair which is styled to perfection. Your lips form a smirk as you watch how your dazed girlfriend studies your new hairstyle with her bottom lip firmly placed between her teeth, a tell-tale sign that she really wants to kiss you but is trying really hard not to.
“Earth to Press.” You say waving your hand in front of Christen’s face, giggling when Christen finally shakes out of it.
“Your hair…” she trails off, her hand coming up to carefully touch your hair.
“OH MY GOD!” Kelley screams, causing you and Christen to jump apart and the rest of your teammates in the room turn around and look at you.
“What happened to your hair?” Kelley asks, marching over to you.
With Christen a little away from you and slightly over the shock of seeing your hair, she lets herself finally take in what you’re wearing.
Her eyes rake over your textured charcoal grey Berluti suit paired with black dress shoes, the whole ensemble making you look incredibly sexy, especially with your new haircut. (A/N: Your suit is the same suit Zendaya wore to the Harper's Bazaar Icons party in 2019)
“You’re drooling.” Tobin says to Christen while everyone else’s attention is on you and your new haircut. Christen’s hand immediately goes to her chin to feel for any drool and Tobin bursts out laughing at her best friend’s actions.
“You’re pathetic.” Tobin says and Christen hits her arm with her purse.
Before everyone can continue hounding you with questions one of the team assistants comes into tell everyone that the bus was here to take the team to the venue for the ESPYS.
After that, everyone more or less leaves you alone in favour of making sure they have everything before following the assistant to the bus. You and Christen hang to the back of the group, Tobin and Kelly in front of you, as you walk to the team bus.
“What do you think?” you ask as you fall in step next to Christen. Christen turns around and looks at you with a bright smile on her face.
“I love it.” Christen says before she sneakily hooks her pinkie with yours.
˳˳˳˳
Turns out, Christen isn’t the only person who loves your new look. Throughout the night a number of female guests at the awards show openly ogle you, some actually coming up to flirt with you, even when Christen was with you.
By the time you were done with the formalities of the evening and into the swing of the afterparty Christen’s blood was boiling. There were so many people who came up to you and flirted with you and even more who were just outright ogling you, not hiding it whatsoever.
Christen was in no way a very possessive person but seeing how many people were after you and thought they could actually get you was making her very angry.
You were her girlfriend for fuck’s sakes!
You’re currently talking with one of the guests when you see Cristen standing with Tobin and nursing a drink while glaring at the woman you’re talking to as she blatantly flirts with you no matter how much you try to shrug off her advances.
“I’m sorry, but you’re going to have to excuse me.” you say before taking your leave and walking over to Christen and Tobin.
“If looks could kill, most of the women here would be dead.” you joke when you get to the pair. Tobin bursts out laughing while Christen just grumbles.
“What was that?” you ask teasingly.
“I hate that they think they can touch you. You’re mine.” Christen says clearly and you can’t help but look at your girlfriend, your pupils dilating slightly at Christen’s possessiveness.
Christen wasn’t normally very possessive but when that possessive side came out it turned you on beyond belief because you know that once you two are alone, Christen will do everything she can to mark you, even though you had to hide the hickeys, and no one would know that she was the one that made them.
“You know you have nothing to be worried about, right?” you ask carefully, stepping closer to Christen so she’s almost in your arms.
“I’m all yours.” you whisper against her ear before leaving a soft kiss against her cheek.
“Ok, I am going to go now.” Tobin says walking over to where Kelley and a few of your other teammates are so she doesn’t have to be the third wheel to you and Christen.
“I know you’re mine, I just wish the rest of the world knew it too.” Christen says.
“Then why don’t we tell them?” you ask and Christen furrows her eyebrows.
“Come on, I know we’ve been keeping things quiet because we like our privacy but maybe it’s time we tell everyone. We can still keep most of our relationship private, and people will know that I am and always will be yours.” you explain.
“You don’t have to make a decision right now, we can sleep on it and decide tomorrow with less alcohol and jealousy in our systems.” you suggest when you see Christen mulling it over.
“Ok.” Christen says.
“Now how about you and I get out of here and you show me just how much you like my haircut.” you whisper in Christen’s ear, pressing your lips just under it and enjoying how a small shiver goes down her back at the action.
Christen immediately grabs your hand and pulls you out of the party, saying quick goodbyes to the rest of the team, trying not to blush when she sees Tobin and Kelley send her knowing smirks.
˳˳˳˳
The next morning Christen wakes up slowly, a soft smile immediately breaking out on her face as you snuggle deeper into her embrace. Christen can’t help but run her fingers through your tousled hair, giggling when you purr against her neck.
Her eyes are immediately drawn to the red lines running down your back that were exposed when the sheet shifted.
When you two got to your hotel room last night, Christen definitely showed you just how much she loved your new haircut. She may have also made a point of marking your skin with bruises that she didn’t want you to hide from anyone, not anymore.
For that exact reason, she stretches to grab her phone on the nightstand, being careful not to wake you. It was a little crazy what she was about to do, but she wanted people to know that you were hers and she was yours.
She adjusts the sheets so that only your neck and shoulders are revealed before quickly opening her camera app and taking a selfie of the two of you, your head nestled in her neck while she has her lips pressed against your temple and her fingers once again running through your hair. Christen then goes onto Instagram and tags you in the picture before posting it with the caption, ‘I love her… new haircut’.
“What are you doing?” you mumble into Christen’s neck, the sound of her typing and the click of the camera waking you up.
“Nothing baby, let’s go back to sleep.” Christen whispers sweetly, putting her phone back down on the nightstand before holding you tighter in her arms as the both of you drift off to sleep.
Needless to say, Christen’s post broke the internet. Some people claimed that they ‘knew it’ and others expressed their happiness and love for the two of you.
Many of your teammates were caught off guard and expressed their shock in the comments section.
Tobin commented the word ‘finally’ which caused many questions to be asked by the rest of the team and Kelley, being the troublemaker that she is, pointed out the barely showing hickey on the side of your neck, causing a whole new frenzy and a bunch of teasing from your teammates when you went out for lunch with them.
You also manage to break the internet later in the day when you post a video that Tobin took in the morning of Christen sitting in your lap and ruffling your short hair before kissing the pout on your face away. Deciding to keep on with the wordplay from Christen’s post, you captioned your post with the words, ‘I just love her’.
The Secret Is Out - Jill Roord/Reader
prompt: hi um could you maybe just maybe do a jill roord x reader where the reader plays for arsenal and the uswnt and they win the world cup and no one knows they’re dating and the r or jill accidentally like do something? idk if that makes sense but if you dont want to that’s perfectly fine! hope you are doing well! all love. Okay, look. There are some Dutch translations here. I don’t know if they’re right because I used google translate. If they are wrong and you speak Dutch, please tell me so I can fix them.
warnings: None.
words: 1919
Tumblr media
(Y/N) POV
I cheered as soon as the final whistle blew. I had finally done it. I had finally won my first World Cup. After being one of the last players passed over during the 2015 World Cup, it felt amazing to win now in 2019 and to be such a big reason as to why we won.
Although I was happy, there was a part of me that knew that I had ruined a World Cup run for one of the most important people in my life. I immediately looked to search for the Dutch woman who had stole my heart. My smile fell a little at the heartbroken look on her face.
I caught her eye and she smiled at me. I went to move toward her, but before I could, someone had jumped on my back cheering. I wasn’t surprised that it was Sonnett. Lindsey, of course, joined where Sonnett was and Mal and Rose weren’t far behind her.
Jill shook her head and it did hurt a little that she didn’t want me to join her. But I understood. My team wanted to celebrate and Jill probably just wanted to be with her teammates right now. I glanced to see how Danielle and Viv were as well as Sari. I wasn’t surprised when I watched Jill go join Viv. I knew that the two of them were really close.
Lindsey managed to wrangle Sonnett off my back just before Rose and Mal threw confetti on top of me. I grinned at them as I shook my head to get the few that stuck to my head off of me. I was a little surprised that it was Tierna who had dragged me back to where the team was celebrating on the pitch. I wasn’t too surprised when Christen and Tobin immediately joined me considering that they were my team moms.
We eventually were given our medals and I was a little surprised to find that I had won the bronze boot along with the bronze ball. I had taken a picture of the awards with Megan and Alex since they both won awards as well. I couldn’t help it as my attention was drawn to Jill. I was able to eventually hand my awards off so that they would make it back to the hotel.
Christen and Tobin had stopped me when I moved to go over to Jill. They both congratulated me and I had thanked them. I knew that I would never be the player I was without them taking me under their wing and helping me. I eventually was able to get past them and to the Dutch midfielder that I had been trying to get to.
“Hey,” I softly said.
Jill smiled at me even through her tears. I immediately hugged her. Jill held on tightly to me. The past two months had been hard for both of us to be so close to each other but not able to see each other.
“I’m proud of you,” Jill mumbled into my neck. I pulled back from her and smiled at her. “I’m really proud. I want your jersey.”
“You want to swap?”
The fact that Jill wanted to swap our jerseys even though they would end up at my apartment in London soon enough confused me. Everyone knew that Jill had signed with Arsenal, and while a lot of her stuff was at the apartment, we didn’t have time to unpack it before the two of us had left for the World Cup.
“No, I just want your jersey eventually,” Jill shook her head. I still wasn’t sure what she wanted it for.
“It’s probably going to smell like alcohol after tonight,” I chuckled. I knew that my jersey was probably going to get soaked in alcohol as soon as we entered the locker room.
“(Y/N)!”
I glanced over my shoulder to see Sonnett running toward me with a grin and a white jersey in her hand. Sonnett stopped beside Jill and I before holding the jersey out to me.
“Dude, they got us these cool jerseys,” Sonnett immediately started to say. I knew that if I didn’t get her to leave soon then I wouldn’t get to talk to Jill until after we left the arena. “There’s one for all of us.”
“Cool,” I said as I took the jersey. I glanced at Jill who looked ready to leave.
“Ik bel je later,” Jill muttered causing me to grab on her wrist. (I will call you later.)
“Nee wacht. Geef me een moment om van haar af te komen,” I said causing Sonnett to look surprised at the fact that I knew Dutch. Jill looked surprised that I was willing to get rid of my teammate. (No, wait. Give me just a moment to get rid of her.)
“Can you make sure that there’s some actual beer saved for me to drink and not to just spray around everywhere?” I asked Sonnett.
The defender immediately perked at the mention of beer. Sonnett nodded before rushing off to make sure we had beer to drink. I turned back to Jill before pulling my game jersey off.
“Here, this way I can’t lose it cause you know I lose everything,” I said. Jill chuckled a little at the before taking the jersey from me.
I saw Jill’s eyes wander down to my waist and she smiled at the new tattoo that I had. I hadn’t shown her yet due to the fact that I had gotten it just after Jill had left to join her own national team and I wanted Jill to see it in person rather than as a picture.
“You actually got it,” Jill whispered.
“Yeah, I did,” I nodded. Jill touched the tattoo and lightly traced it. “Your handwriting and all. I figured it was appropriate since you were the one who started to call me Schatje.” (Little treasure.)
I pulled the jersey Sonnett had given me over my head. I glanced over my shoulder to see if anyone from my team was going to come to drag me away. I wasn’t too surprised that Christen and Tobin were headed my way, but I was surprised by the fact that the whole team was headed here. I looked back at Jill.
“I know we said we didn’t want to go public with our relationship until we got into a groove with both of us being at Arsenal, but my teammates got their kisses from their partners and, it’s been a while-”
I couldn’t finish what I was saying because Jill had pulled me closer to her. I immediately kissed the Dutch player back when I felt her lips crash into mine. I ignored the cheers and shouts behind me, but apparently Jill didn’t because she pulled back not long after. Jill glanced behind me before giving me a kiss by my ear.
“Go join your teammates. I have a room for us at a different hotel where we can have our own little party after you guys get done.”
My jaw slacked but I didn’t have time to say anything to Jill because she had already turned and ran to join her own teammates. I felt someone sling their arm around my shoulder.
“Way to get some, (Y/N),” Ash cheered right in my ear. I wasn’t too surprised that Ali slapped the back of Ash’s head causing the goalie to grumble and rub the back of her head.
“Hey, Roord!” I called out. Jill turned around to look at me. “Ik hou van je, lieverd.” (I love you, sweetheart.)
“Ik hou ook van je.” (I love you too.)
“Oi, (Y/N)! What about me?”
I shook my head at Danielle. She often teased me over the past two years whenever Jill would call me since we were in different countries. But Danielle had been ready to throw hands for me many times during our matches for Arsenal.
“Je bent zo behoeftig,” I complained. Danielle threw a glare at me and I laughed at her. “Ik hou ook van jou, kleine krijger.” (You’re so needy. I love you as well, little warrior.)
Danielle smirked at that and I saw her turn to brag about it to Jill. I only shook my head at them before turning to my teammates. I swiped the beer from Kelley’s hand before she could drink from it. Before the older defender could do anything, Christen and Tobin had already moved to my sides probably to talk to me about the relationship I had with Jill. I couldn’t help but smile as I told them about the Dutch woman who had stolen my heart.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I grinned as Jill came out of the bathroom. I was already dressed since I was having to leave today to head to the US for our celebration. Jill was going to take her time, however, since her team wouldn’t be flying out until much later. Jill was dressed in one of my oversized shirts and a pair of shorts.
“What are you smiling about?”
“How lucky I am,” I said as I stood up from the foot of the bed. “I mean, I just won the World Cup and the woman I want to spend the rest of my life is still here even though she’s the one I had to beat to win the World Cup.”
“You want to spend the rest of your life with me?”
“I mean, yeah, why wouldn’t I?” I furrowed my brow in confusion. “Jill, I’ve been dating you for 3 years now. If I didn’t seriously see us together for the rest of my life, then I wouldn’t still be with you. One day, I’m going to marry you.”
“I also can’t believe you would think that I would leave you because you beat me for the World Cup,” Jill shook her head. She pressed a kiss to my lips. “I can’t wait for you to make me yours forever.”
I grinned as I wrapped my arms around her waist. I wished we could stay like this forever. But sadly we couldn’t. I did have a plane to catch soon.
“I’ll see you in London?”
“Of course you will,” Jill nodded. Jill pulled back from me before digging through her bag. “I have something for you. I was going to wait until we got back to London, but I might as well give it to you now.”
I took the little black box from her and smiled. I opened the box and chuckled when I saw the ring. The ring was a simple silver band with a designed etched into it. I slid the ring onto my finger before pulling my own small black box from my bag.
“I kind of got you one too,” I said as Jill took the box from me. “We were shopping for a ring for Tobin to give to Christen and I wanted to do something special for you. I’m not asking you to marry me, but this is a promise that I will marry you one day.”
Jill grinned before she kissed me. I smiled when she pulled back.
“I’ll see you in London, okay?”
The Dutch woman gave me one last kiss before I grabbed my bags and headed out of the room. I gave her a small wave just before I closed the door behind me. I couldn’t wait for the celebrations to be over and to be on a plane back to London.

I’ll Be Home for Christmas [Lindsey Horan x Reader]
Tumblr media
requested by anon: Bro you’re amazing!!! I was wonder if you could do one with Lindsey where Reader is like a badass military person who has been away for a long time and like surprises her at team dinner or something. And Tobin is totally in on it and helps reader out. Bonus if reader is totally soft for Lindsey.
A/N: thank you anon! you’re amazing for this request! i rly hope you enjoy it even tho it’s a lil on the short side :)
also check out some of the USWNT holiday vids:
Secret Santa, White Elephant, Caroling, Caroling pt 2
“Linds?” Emily snaps her fingers in front of her best friend’s face. “You there?”
“Yeah, sorry.” Lindsey shakes her head, pulling herself out of her daze.
“Well,” Sonnett drawls, “as I was saying, I have your sweater here.” The defender holds up an ugly Christmas sweater with snowmen and reindeer adorning it.
“My sweater?”
“Remember? We’re all matching!” Emily exclaims. The youngsters and Kelley had all planned on wearing matching sweaters to the USWNT’s holiday party that this was evening.
“Oh, yeah,” Lindsey sighs with realization, her thoughts still miles away. Noticing her friend’s distant eyes, Emily’s face softens.
“Lindsey, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” she huffs. “I just miss (Y/N) so much, and I wish she was here to celebrate Christmas with me.”
The blonde defender feels her heartbreak for her friend. “Linds, I know she misses you just as much as you miss her, probably even more.”
The two women both let out a soft laugh at that, as you were completely smitten with your girlfriend.
“And I know,” Emily continues, “that she wishes she could be here with you too.” She reaches out to squeeze Lindsey’s hand.
The midfielder nods and gives the other woman a small smile. “Thanks, Em.”
“Anytime,” Sonnett says with sincerity lacing her voice. “Now, put on your sweater. We have a party to go to!”
Lindsey just laughs at her friend’s antics, as the defender jumps up from the bed and heads out the door. After pulling on the ugly Christmas sweater, Lindsey glances down at her phone, staring longingly at the photo of you and her on her lock screen, before heading down to the conference room.
—————
As you slide into the backseat of an Uber, you feel your phone vibrate, as a text from Tobin appears on your screen.
Tobin:
Hey u on ur way?
(Y/N):
Yup, leaving the airport rn
Tobin:
👍🏼 we’re about to start white elephant
We’ll be in a conference room so j text me when ur here and I’ll meet you in the lobby.
(Y/N):
Will do. Thanks Tobes
Shutting off your phone, you turn your attention to outside your window, taking in the streets of Denver you’d missed so much.
For the past year, you’d been deployed overseas in Afghanistan, meaning, except for the Skype calls and the occasional letters, you haven’t seen your girlfriend, Lindsey, in almost thirteen months. But now, after few complications on your last tour, you had been honorably discharged and were now on your way to surprise Lindsey at her national team camp.
The last time you spoke with your girlfriend, you had told her that you wouldn’t be able to spend Christmas with her, but you after hearing the news you’d be able to go home, you schemed with Tobin to surprise the blonde midfielder.
So here you are, sitting in an Uber, stilled dressed in your green camouflage uniform and combat boots, on your way to the DoubleTree hotel in downtown Denver to crash the USWNT’s white elephant party.
Meanwhile, at the hotel, Tobin joins her teammates in the conference room, where there’s decorations all around and presents on the front table.
Seeing that everyone has arrived, Megan gets up from her set and moves to the front of the room, where she starts to give some instructions. “Alright, everybody, we’re gonna get started. Did everyone pick up a number on their way in?”
The girls nod, waving their slips of paper in the air, a chorus of yeses wave amongst the crowd.
“Okay, the rules are simple. When it’s your turn, you can either go up and pick a gift from the table,” She gestures to the table crowded with bags and wrapped boxes. “Or you can steal someone else’s gift who picked before you.”
“And you can only steal before you pick a gift,” Becky adds, earning a couple snickers from the veterans, as they remember HAO’s mishap all those years ago.
“Yes.” Pinoe nods. “And if your gift is stolen, you then have the option to steal or pick another one. Everyone got it?”
With no objections, she claps her hands. “Alright, let’s get started. Who’s got number one?”
Tierna raises her hand and gets up from her seat. “Me.” The young defender approaches the table and scans the selection of gifts, before ultimately picking a small rectangular box wrapped in polka dotted paper.
“What is it?” Kelley calls out, eagerly bouncing in her seat.
“Trader Joe’s chocolate,” Tierna reveals, waving the gift for all to see.
This routine continues down the line of women, the first steal not coming until number 10, when Ash decides to steal Mal’s scarf.
As Sonnett, who had number 13, one before Lindsey’s, picks out a gift, Tobin feels her phone vibrate.
(Y/N):
Here in the lobby.
Tobin:
👍🏼 cool. I’ll come get you in a sec. it’s Lindsey’s turn next.
“Who’s next?” Emily shouts, as she returns to her seat with the phone case she’d unwrapped.
“Me.” Lindsey gets up and makes her way towards the table. But before she can pick a present, Tobin stops her.
“Wait, I forgot to put my gift up there.”
Many of the women who had already chosen voiced their displeasure and annoyance.
“What? Come on, Tobin, seriously?” Kelley exclaims.
“We already started! You can’t just add your gift into the mix now.” Emily whines.
“Chill, you guys.” Tobin just smirks. “Besides, I’m pretty sure Lindsey would’ve stolen this gift if any of you had chosen it.”
Sonnett just mutters something under her breath, still not satisfied that she’d missed out on another gift option.
“I’ll be right back. Don’t pick yet,” Tobin tells the younger midfielder, pointing at her.
Quickly, Tobin jogs out to the lobby, where you’re standing awkwardly with your duffle bag on the floor next to you.
“(Y/N)!” She calls out to you from across the room. Hearing your name, you eyes perk up, and you smile upon seeing your friend. As Lindsey’s girlfriend of almost three years, you’d spent quite a lot of time in Portland, meaning you’d gotten quite close to the older woman.
“Hey, Tobes.” You pull her in for a hug.
“Missed you, (Y/N/N).”
“I missed you too, T,” you say, nerves evident in your voice.
Sensing your nerves, Tobin chuckles. “You ready to see your girlfriend?”
You just nod, unable to find the words to describe the emotions you’re feeling.
“Well, come on then.”
As the two of you make your way down the hallway, you can hear the loud voices and laughter of the team, and you feel the anticipation bubbling up inside you. But when you approach the door to the conference room, you push down whatever nerves you have, as you catch a glimpse of your girlfriend and hear the sound of her voice for the first time in a little over a year.
“I’m back,” Tobin announces. “And with my gift this time. I hope—”
Before the midfielder can finish, Lindsey spots you over Tobin’s shoulder and lets out a scream.
“Oh my gosh!”
A wide smile breaks out across your face, as you drop your bag to the ground and open your arms. Lindsey immediately runs across the room and crashes into you, bringing you in for a bone-crushing hug.
As she buries her face in your neck, you can feel tears wetting your skin. Cradling Lindsey’s head, you whisper sweet nothings into her ear, tears pooling in your own eyes.
“I’ve missed you, Linds. I love you so so much. Shh, baby, I’m here now.”
Lifting her head to look at you, Lindsey breathes in adoration and shock, her eyes teary. “How?”
“I’ve been honorably discharged,” you explain, as you brush the blonde hair out of her face, taking the time to admire your girlfriend. “So I’m home for good. So long as you’ll have me?”
Lindsey just shakes her head in disbelief and lets out a wet chuckle before connecting your lips. You melt into the kiss, ignoring the cheers and whistles from the women around you, as you revel in the feeling of Lindsey’s body against yours.
Pulling back, you grin. “Gosh, I’ve missed you.”
“I missed you, too.” She pecks your lips again. “So much.”
“C’mon.” You take her hand, intertwining your fingers. “Let’s go sit and celebrate.”
As she leads you back to her seat, the rest of the team, who you’ve also gotten to know quite well, stop you for smiles and hugs of their own.
“Welcome home, (Y/N).” Ashlyn slaps your back, squeezing your shoulder.
“Thanks, Ash.”
“(Y/N)!!” Emily shouts, hopping onto your back.
You laugh at the defender’s childish behavior. “Come on, Sonny, get off.”
“Fine,” she pouts, jumping down, before hugging you. “Missed you.”
“I missed you too, Em,” you whisper.
Once you sit down, Lindsey plops herself down in your lap. Instead of protesting, you just chuckle and wrap your arms around her waist, placing a kiss to her neck.
“I love you, Linds.”
“I love you, too, (Y/N),” she hums, relaxing into your embrace. “My very own Christmas miracle.

Adopted by whom?
Tumblr media
Warnings: lighty mentions of physical abuse
This was my third camp, I was really excited. Even though I knew these womens for only a year, they became like family to me, a few of them were even closer, like Mal and Rose, probably because we are closer to age, so we have a lot of fun together. Tobin and Christen are like moms for me, since the first day of camp they took me under their wings and were super protective, they were worried about my school work and if I ate well or if I drank enough water, even after camp they kept talking and asking how I am, and I talk about them so much that my moms got jealous, and said they are my team moms.
I told this to Tobin and Christen, they laughed at it and began to call me their daughter, so I started to call them mom. They wanted to meet my parents but that didn’t happen yet. Why? Because I didn’t tell them that I am adopted, or that I have two mothers, let alone that one of them is none other than Shannon MacMillan. I know I should but it is a sensitive topic for me and I'm scared that they will treat me differently after they find out about it. That’s why I haven't told anyone on the team about it yet, but I'm thinking about doing so after this camp.
“Kid!! I miss you so much” Tobin ran towards me and gave me a big hug. “Mom, we talked yesterday.” “I know, but I can't hug you on facetime.” “Okay, I miss you too.” “I don’t get a hug?” Christen asked and opened her arms for me to hug her, so I did. “Mama I miss you too.” “Hi sweetie. Excited for camp? How is school?” “The same, boring but my grades are good. And I can't wait for everyone to get here.”
“Siisss!!!” Rose and Mal scream as soon as they spot me in the looby and come running. “Rose!! Mal!! How are you guys?”. We jumped on each other and ended up in the ground on a group hug. “Hey, you weren’t as excited when you saw us. I feel betrayed.” Tobin complained pouting while watching our interaction. “Kids get up before you hurt each other.” Christen separated us and pulled us up. “Sorry mom, but I love you too.” I said to Tobin who still had a pout on her face, so I went and hugged her again.
The rest of the team were finally arriving in the lobby of the hotel, we were talking when Jill spoke up and designated our roommates for this camp, and I was with Tobin. We went up and went to our room. We had lunch soon so we chilled and talked for a bit in our room, until it was time for lunch. So here we are, everyone eating and having fun talking about everything.
On the table was Sonnett, Rose, Linds, Sam, Mal and myself. Sonnett was telling everyone a funny story about her family.
“I’m serious, we were at this party and I kept annoying this girl, who was a douchebag. I forgot about it and started to dance and have some fun, but then suddenly a boy cornered my sister and I heard the girl saying she was the girl who annoyed her and he was about to push her when the parents stepped in. Long story, but in short my sister ended up two days grounded because of that.” “You never told them the truth?” I asked her. “A few years later. They grounded me as well, that was not fun.” “I wish I could have a twin sister, so we could switch places all the time.” Rose commented. “I wish I could have a sister.” Mal complained.
“At least you have your parents all to yourself. You are the favorite.” Sam complained only to be mocked by Linds “Someone is grumpy because it’s not the favorite child.” “And you are?” “Of course.” “Alright, this is not what your brother says.” Sonnett interfered with a smirk. “But I'm for sure not the favorite, my parents don’t hide it.” “Me neither, I’m sure they love me but I have my doubts about who their favorite is. It’s probably Wilma, I don’t blame them.” Everyone laughed at Rose's statement.
Until Mal asked me a question. “What about you Y/n? I’m sure you are your parents favorite.” “Yeah, I don't know. My brother is 10 so... pretty tough competition.” “Wait! You have a brother?” Sonnett asked incredulously. “Yeah.” “Why have we never heard about it? We actually never heard much about your family Y/n.” One of them asked me. Shit, why do I have to open my mouth. “I don’t want to talk about it.” I tried to avoid their eyes so they would know that I didn’t want to talk about it. But Sonnett didn't get it. “Why not? Your parents can’t be that bad?” “Sonnett!! Shut up. Y/n/n, that’s okay, if you don’t want to tell us you don’t have to.” Lindsey said, trying to make me look at them. “But you know that you can tell us everything right?”
I didn’t want to talk about it, and if I stayed one more minute here I would cry, so I decided to leave for my room. “Yeah… I...I think I’m going back to my room. Bye.” “Y/n. Wait! We are not talking about it again. Come back.” Rose tried to stop me, but I stood up so fast that I didn’t even register my surroundings. So as soon as I turned around, I bumped into Ashlyn and her juice spread all over my shirt. Fuck! Ash began to apologise, but now I could feel everyone's eyes on me and all I wanted was to get out of here. “Sorry Speedy, you turn so fast. I…” “That’s okay.” I interrupted her, got free of her hands and walked as fast as I could out of the dinner room.
No one's pov
Meanwhile at the youngies table.
“That was odd.” Sam broke the silence. “I didn’t do it on purpose.” “We know Sonnett. Should we follow her? Or talk to Tobin?” Lindsey asked, trying to comfort Sonnett who was blaming herself for her teammate's outburst.
“Too late for that. Tobin is already coming on her momma bear mode. I’m always scared when she is like this.” Mal spoke looking at Tobin with wide eyes.
“Girls, what happened to Y/n? Why did she get out?” The girls looked at each other until Rose decided to answer Tobin’s question. “We don’t know exactly. We were talking about our families and when we asked about hers she got weird and said she would go to her room.” Tobin sighed and nodded. “Thanks, I will go check on her.”
Tobin pov
I knocked on the door and opened it, when I entered the room I saw Y/n laying on the bed looking at the ceiling.
“Hey, kid. What’s going on?” “Not now Tobin, I just want to be alone for a minute. I’m fine.” “Yeah, you’re not.” Y/n shakes her head and asks. “And how do you know that?” “For starters, you get out of the dinner earlier than usual and without saying goodbye. Then you call me Tobin, you never do that only when you’re not okay.”
With that Y/n sighed and sat on the bed. “It’s just a hard topic for me.” “Your family?” I asked, trying to understand, she just nodded her head.
We stayed in bed for a minute. I waited to see if she was giving me anything else, but that didn’t happen. “Fine, if you don’t want to talk about it, I get it. But let's at least take this shirt off.”
I helped her get up to take the dirty shirt off, but then I looked at her back and saw some scars on it. I was about to take a better look but she quickly pulled back down, trying to hide it. But it was too late, I had already seen it.
“Y/n, what are those marks on your back?” “Are from soccer.” She told me, not looking at me. “I’m not buying it. Tell me the truth.” “It’s nothing Tobin. Give up on this.” “Nope. Right there, you call me Tobin again. Come on kid, you know I won’t give up so soon. So buy us some time and tell me what’s going on.” “It’s hard, Tobs.” “And I’m here by your side, you can tell me everything. But I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what’s going on.” “Everything is fine now, it’s already in the past. But I'm still learning to trust people, so I normally don’t talk about it with others. I want to, but when I do I cry and I don't want to cry in front of the team.” “Kid, we will never judge you for crying.” “I know but I never had this, not until three years ago. So it is hard to let people in.” “What do you mean? You wanna tell me about it? “
She hesitated for a minute but nodded. She was about to say something when my phone rang. I looked at it and turned off the call, it was Christen but I couldn’t talk right now.
“It’s okay if you need to go. I’ll be fine.” Y/n told me in a low voice. “I’m here for you kid, you can trust me, after all i’m your mom isn’t I?” “Yeah. You are. It’s not actually complicated. It’s just that, my dad abandoned my family when I was 7, a month later my mom found out she was pregnant. Things were already tough, but my mom did everything she could for us to be happy, but a year later she died in a car crash.”
Tears began to fall from her face, so I put my hand on her back trying to comfort her.
“I’m sorry for that Y/n/n. You don’t need to keep going if you don’t want to.” “I want to tell you everything.” After a minute she stopped sobbing and spoke again. “Well, after that my father didn’t want us so we ended up in foster care and that’s why I don’t like to talk about my family. Is not because I don't trust you, but is because for most part of my life I didn't quite have one. I have just a few memories from my biological mother and I had to take care of my little brother during seven years of my life. Is not simple to talk about it. I was abused from the age of 8 until I turned 14 years old. That's where my marks are from, they hit on me just because they wanted to.”
I hugged her, but didn’t say a thing, I knew that’s what she needed right now. After a few minutes I spoke up. “Kid, I had no idea that you passed through this all. But I want to tell you that this doesn't change our relationship, I still love you and will fight everyone who messes with you, and you know Christen will as well.” “Thank you Tobs.”
After a minute of silence, I decided to ask her what I was scared to ask. “This is still happening? I want to do something about it. I won’t let any of this happen to you again.” “No, three years ago me and my brother got adopted. I told you the truth when I told you that everything is good now. They are amazing and are helping me to get better.” “That’s good. That’s why we never meet them? You didn’t want us to know your story?” “Yeah, that’s one of the reasons.” “One?” “Yeah, well the other one you will understand when you see my moms.” “Your moms?” I asked, still not sure I had heard it right. “Yeah, I got adopted by two moms.” “Oh, Megan will love this.” “I know.” “You want to come back for lunch or do you want to stay here?” “Stay here. Can we just watch a movie?” “Fine, but I choose.”
I jumped on top of her and got the remote so I could choose the movie. “No way, we are on my bed, so I choose.” She got the remote from my hands. “No no, I'm your mother so I choose.” “There’s nothing to do with it. I won’t give it to you.” “Yes you are.”
With that I began to tickle her, trying to get the remote back. Then there was a knock on the door and it opened, but we were too occupied to see who it was. “Okay kids, let's stop the fight.” Oh, that’s Chris. “Tell that to Tobs, she is the one attacking me.” “I see.” Christen separated us. “How are my girls? I’ve been told that I should come here to check on you both, but by the look of things I guess that is all sorted out now.” I looked at Y/n and she had a smile on her face. “I think we are better now right?” “Yeah, much better. Thank you Tobs.” “Of course, I'll always be here for you.” She hugged me and I gave a kiss on her head.
“Oh, I feel left out now.” “Sorry Chris, but Tobs will tell you everything later. But I know I can count on you as well. I’m going to change my shirt now and wash my red face.”
Y/n stood up and left the remote on the bed. “Yes, I got the remote.” I could see Y/n shaking her head and then closing the bathroom door, Chris came to me, gave me a quick peck and asked me what happened.
Your pov
I went to the bathroom to change my shirt and clean myself, and I could hear Tobin telling Christen a little bit of what I told her. “‘What was that about?’ ‘The girls were talking about family stuff on the table and the topic is a little complicated for her. She lost her mom really young and lived in foster care most part of her life, and just recently got adopted. I tell you more later, don’t worry about it.’” I’m glad I finally got to share my story with someone else, and it is no surprise that the two of them were the first to know, I like them a lot.
While I was in the bathroom my phone started to ring.
“Kid, your phone is ringing and is your mom. She wants to facetime.” Tobin yelled from the bed. “Which one?” I yelled back. “Humm… mom Mac?!” Oh, maybe that is a great time to introduce them.
“Could you answer for me? I’m almost finishing.” “Me?” “Yeah, you didn’t want to meet her? That’s the time. She wants to talk to you both as well.” There was a silence in the room, until Chris spoke. “I don’t think that is a good idea.” “You’ll like to talk with her. Don’t you trust me?” “Fine.” Tobin answered me and accepted the call, ready to talk to my mom.
“Hi hon… Oh, hi Tobin!” I could hear my mom speaking. I was already changed, but I wanted to see their reactions while meeting my mom. “Hi… wait your Shannon MacMillan.” Toby speaks and stays with an open mouth. “Yes, and I was told that you are my daughter’s roommate. Oh, hi Christen I didn't see you before. How are you doing?” “Your daughter?” Now was Christen's time to stay in shock. “Yeah Y/n. Is she alright?” “Yeah, but… what?” Tobin was speechless, so I decided to intervene.
“Oh hi mom, sorry I was in the bathroom.” “Hi honey and taking by Tobin and Christen's faces I believe you hadn’t told them about me, am I right?” “Maybe? I actually didn’t tell anyone on the team, I dodged their questions about my family. You know how I am, I wanted them to get to know me first.” “I know.” “But I had told Tobin almost everything, I just kept your name out of it. She saw my scars and made me explain it.” I lightly elbowed Tobin, trying to take her off her transe. “Made you?” I think it worked. “Y/n!!”
“I’m kidding, kind of. She just got overprotective and wanted to punch the person who made me those, so I had to explain the story to her.” “Yeah, I was right she is definitely your team mom. And don’t worry Tobin, they are already taken care of.” Tobin laughed and poked me in my sides “I told you, now even your mom agrees with me. But I gotta say this is kind of crazy.” “Whatever, that doesn't mean you can choose the movie.” “Movie?” Mom asked, not quite understanding what we were talking about. So Chris came to the rescue. “When I got here they were in a tickle fight, because Tobin wanted to choose the Netflix movie and Y/n had the remote.” I completed it. “Christen saves me, but then Tobin got the remote, so it looks like we will be seeing her movie.”
“Seems like you’re having fun. I just called to tell you that the thing you buy on the internet has arrived, I hid it in the garage. I'm sure your mama won’t find it there.” Great, my mama birthday present has arrived. “Cool, and is everything ok?” “Yes, as we expected. We’ll call you later to talk more, I just took that I was alone now so I could warn you.” “Thanks mom.” “Bye honey. Bye Tobin and Christen.” “Bye Shannon.” They say in unison.
So I turned off the call and looked at them, they had a surprised look on their face so I got ready for the questions. Mainly the questions were about why I didn't tell them or the team about it, how I ended up with them and I had to explain my whole story again for Christen. In the end, it was already time for team meeting and we were getting ready to go.
As we waited for the elevator, I remembered to ask them something. “Guys, please don’t tell the team nothing about it.” “Why not? Speedy, I already told you that they won’t treat you any different.” Tobin scolded me. “I just... I will tell them when I feel comfortable, but for now just keep this secret for me. Please mom!!” “You can’t pull the mom card like this.” “Why not? You told yourself that you’re my team mom.” Tobin kept staring at me until she gave up. “Fine. But I think you should at least tell them about your mom, because if they find out about it from another person they're gonna be mad.” Christen punches Tobin in the arm. “Tobin! They are not gonna be mad at you Y/n. Just at the moment, and then they will just fill you with questions. But the last part is going to happen either way.” “Oh, so different from what I said.” Tobin said with sarcasm, but Christen sent her a killer look. “Sorry! But if by any chance, someone annoys you because of who your mother is, tell me and I will kick their ass.” Tobin told me with a serious look.
“You mean if they mocked me because Tobin Heath is my mom?” I tried to contain my laugh. “Oh, shut up!!” She got my head and began to rub it. “Mom stop!!” “Kids stop with it. Let’s go or we are gonna be late.”
With that we entered the elevator and I could see that Chris had a worried face on. My story must have affected her, she has a sad expression, so I decided to lighten her mood a little bit. “Oh Christen, you don’t need to be mad. You and mom are a couple, so that means you are my mom as well.” I hugged her and she kissed my head. She tightened the hug, and I knew some tears were rolling down her face. “Thank you Y/n, you for sure can come for me anytime you need. I’ll always be here for you.” “I know. You’re the mom I listen to but also the mom who grounds me, and Tobin is the mom who takes me out of the ground, and also the one who tries to cover my mess.” Christen rolled her eyes, understanding what I was trying to do. She cleaned the tears that had fallen out and shook her head, but now with a smile on her face. Tobin on the other hand protested. “I would never do that Christen!” “Why can't I believe that?”
With that the elevator door opened and Christen got out first, then Tobin raised her hand for me to hit it. I love these two. We got to team meeting and discussed our training sessions, how our week is going to be and other things. The meeting took about an hour. After it, the whole team went to dinner, me and Tobin were talking about the conversation we had early about my past soccer teams and how my mom is a crazy fan, so we got our food and sat at some table don’t even looking to see who was on the other ones. But as we were talking Christen, Megan, Ash, Julie, Ali, Alyssa and Carli sat at our table as well.
“I’m telling you Tobs, once she got so mad about a bad call that she almost got inside the field to yell at the referee, luckily my 9 years old brother stopped her.” Tobin was laughing her ass out. “I would die to see that.” “Who did that?” Megan asked, breaking the bubble we were on. I then noticed everyone else that was on the table with us.
“What?” I asked, not quite sure what she was talking about. “Who almost got in the field?” “My mom.” “Oh…” “She seems cool.” Ash responded. “She is, when she is not mad. Despite that, she is awesome, my family is really supportive.” “Your brother plays soccer as well?” Alis asked. “No, he hates sports. But he loves to cheer for me, so he goes for all the games he can.” “Oh, this is so cute, I would love to meet him.” JJ awed with my answer. “He for sure will love to go to the mall with you and Chris, I can guarantee that he would be a better company then Tobs.” “Hey kid! You are just as bad as I am.” Tobin protested. “Ok you're right. But I’m telling the truth, he and my mom go on walks for hours.” “I’m certainly taking him out when we meet him.” Chris gave me a wink, letting me know that this was for sure happening some time soon.
“And who encouraged you to play soccer? Your mom or your dad?” Alyssa asked, wanting to know more about my family. I took a big breath and answered her. “Oh, it’s a little more complicated than that. But I can for sure tell you that it was not my father.” “Why is that? He doesn't like sports?”
I take a look at Tobin and Christen and them both nod their heads encouraging me to tell them. “No, it’s because… I don't have a father, at least not one that I care about.” “Sorry I didn’t want to put you through that.” Alyssa told me with a worried expression. “That’s fine, I'm ok with that now.” “So is it just you, your brother and your mom?” Ali asked. “Well, my moms.” “Excuse me?” Megan almost spilled all the water she was drinking with the new information. “My moms. Me, my brother and my two moms.” “Oh, that is awesome. I already liked you before, now I like you even more.” Megan cheered and high five me. “Because of my parents?” “Yeah, you were already cool, now that I know that you for sure support my community you got points with me. Tell me about them!” “They are awesome, I've only been with them for three years, but they changed my life when they adopted me.” Ops! Shouldn’t have said the last part. “Wait, you are adopted?” Ali asked. “Yep.”
“Who is adopted?” Emily asked while getting close to the table. “Y/n” Alyssa answered. “What? You never told us.” Mal and the other youngies were all surrounding us now. “That’s why you run away during lunch?” I looked around and by now the whole team was at the table listening to the conversation.
“So about that…” I look at Tobin and send her a ‘help me’ look, she quickly understands me and steps up. “Guys, less questions okay? If she hasn't told us about it yet it’s because she is not comfortable with it, so let’s give her time.”
Everyone nodded, but Megan was still interested in my family. “Fine, but I want to know more about your moms okay?” “That I can do, but I think you already know at least one of them.”
I took my phone and showed her a picture of my family. Her mouth drops and she passes the phone for Ash, who passes to Ali, who passes to Carli, who finally says something.
“Wait a minute, your mom is Shannon MacMillan?” “Yeah.”
Everybody's jaw drops, except for Christen and Tobin because they already knew, and the questions started again. I finally told them my story and Tobin was right, they were really supportive and of course asked a lot of questions, but I'm fine with it. They are my family now.
