Playing for Change is “Waiting on the World to Change”
One-hundred musicians and dancers. Eighteen countries represented. Two languages. One John Mayer song - global sounds united in the universal language.
Talent is everywhere - and Playing for Change found it for its latest Song around the World, Mayer’s “Waiting on the World to Change.”
Released in conjunction with COP28 - scheduled for Nov. 30-Dec. 12 in Dubai - “Change” eschews big Western names (Mayer doesn’t appear) in favor of of singers, dancers and players on such instruments as Portuguese guitar, kora, jarana, tabla, pipa, güiro and santoor alongside electric guitar and bass.
“The time is now; to unite as a human race,” Playing for Change’s Mark Johnson said in a statement. “Together we can change the world.”
Here’s hoping.

Shimmering Blue
I spend more time, I think, outside than in.
Only brief reprieves for a cloud maker.
Above, waves foamy and bright break against the blue beyond.
Or maybe what lies beyond is what broke us below.
Still like waves ebbing and flowing inside our still woefully inadequate mortal coils.
But when our waves break there's chaos, death.
We haven't learned our lessons yet.
Too many lessons in pain.
Pain is free.. take as much as you want.
But what you could learn from it would probably live darkly in a thimble with room to spare.
And a tractor trailer filled to bursting with all the lessons we provide each other, then ignore... or ignite.
Passion rages and hatred consumes.
In a family.. . so many lessons to learn.
But nothing is ever free. Who and what we call our own crash against the tide.
And even in an Earthly garden pruned of its heavenly delights, even then, a wild love can push its way back toward the wild, shimmering, blue.

A Brief Diatribe On Progress.
Progress doesn't necessarily mean disregarding or circumventing religious or societal strictures, dogma or cultural belief systems. Civilization has continued for some time and will do so as more or less cohesive religious and social structures.
Maintaining society as a kind of dystopia for as long as it's been seems to be the major calling in life for most of us. Elon Musk's rockets blowing up left and right and anyone who's ever gone through the McDonald's drive through with a microphone that sounds like Charlie Browns teacher can attest to that.
Dysfunction is the new functionality and doing everything halfassed is still the American way, although now it seems as though countries around the world are adopting our particular way of doing, believing and being. Good luck.

Ed must have been crying under that blanket, stunned and hurt as he was, learning Stede left him for Mary, who he never loved, Mary who made him miserable. He must have been sure Stede could never have felt what Ed felt and then done that. But Ed’s pulled it together by the time he sticks his head out to let Stede know how mad he is. And he keeps it together, even calling himself an idiot for trusting Stede, even baffled and longing, until Stede says “I love your chin!”
Hearing that word, Love, aimed at him by Stede, that does him in. That’s when Ed’s eyes fill with tears and he goes still, can’t look at Stede, orders Stede not to say the next part. Because if he can’t take just hearing that Stede loves his naked chin, then hearing the whole of it will undo him. And he’s spent the whole dinner barely holding it together, visibly feeling everything and terrified by the force of it.
So he says, No, you don’t get to say that to me, not after I never even got to say it and I meant it so much. And I’m not telling you anything now. I already said my part. Then the tears recede a bit with the strength of him standing up for himself, for his hurt, and he just peeks to see how Stede will take that No.
But when Stede drops his head and takes that in like it matters to him, what Ed doesn’t want, and doesn’t seem to spare a thought for his own pride — doesn’t take a moment to fret about Why did I come all this way, then, if you’re done with me — when he only wants to be sure Ed knows he adores him regardless, just being near him, whether or not Ed has anything to give him — that’s when Ed finally turns to him. His fear fades a little under the light of wonder, and he glows a bit at Stede, even sad and sore as he still is; because that’s when he knows he wasn’t wrong. He’s not in this alone. Stede feels it too.

IT'S THE WORLD'S MOST SPECIALIST GUY, EVERYONE CLAP NAOW!!! (silly!!!)
Satoshi but as a Fake Peppino clone, so no longer Satoshi but still mostly them jlkdfgkj
They do need a different name tho, bc my food-themed naming scheme can not be ruined!!! (silly! I already messed up on that early on, but still jkfdjkfsd) - I would refer to them by number, but I am leaning towards them being one of Mr D'Angiolini's... 'Special Request' clones for 'Personal Use', so they wouold not have a number, but I have not decided yet!
For now; They are here, and ready to get sillay

Hot take: I actually really like love triangles conceptually, but they're disrespected as a plot theme because they're always done in the same predictable and dull way. The triangle isn't interesting when there is always a clearly better option who is obviously going to be endgame from the outset. It's even more boring when the obvious option is always the first love interest, with the second always being a plot device for forced drama and not actually a potential partner.
Here's a fresh idea to spice up the love triangle trope: a love triangle told from the point of view not of the person being desired, but of one of the romantic rival characters, with our dear protagonist very clearly on the losing end of the love triangle. This has potential to be funny and dramatic and heartfelt all at once from the premise alone.

PJO: we need to recognize the value of the minor gods. The Olympians are important, sure, but the minor gods do a lot of work in maintaining and assisting the pantheon, have their own kids and deserve to be seen and valued just as much
HoO: Back at it again with Olympian-only nonsense!
