Cancelled Animaniacs Movies
Tumblr media
Winter Warner Land - The Warners take a job at the North Pole and drive Santa's elves crazy.
The Road to Bohemia - Apparently this one is basically Wakko's Wish's prototype? Or at least various ideas they had for it were used in Wakko's Wish.
Wandering Warners We - Three troubadours named Yakko, Wakko and Dot are sent on a mission by the King to track down his heir, the princess, in order to save their kingdom. This movie would've introduced the fourth Warner sibling: Lakko Warner. Lakko would've been so untalented that before the middle of the movie he would've been fired from the production by his siblings.
Little Orphan Warners - It's an Oliver Twist parody. That's it. Think "Wakkiver Twist" but longer.
Hooray for Hollywood - This was basically re-worked into "Hooray for North Hollywood", so it was probably gonna be about the Warners trying to make a movie. Presumably this original version would have been better, ahem, longer (*cough*HfNH sucks*cough*).
Revolutionary Warners - The Warners play an instrumental role (literally) in the American Revolution.
This Means Warners - Apparently this was gonna be a World War II movie starring the Warners.

I have this continuous urge to write a dark backstory for Dot’s disdain of the nickname Dottie. But then I always remember that her brothers do call her that and tease her with it on a few occasions in the show, and I know they would never, ever do that in a million years if it was a real trigger for her. In Wakkiver Twist, for example, when Yakko calls her that and says it’s only because it’s in the script. You know they would flat out refuse to say it if it actually deeply bothered her, scripted or not.
You might tell me to ignore this tiny little bit of canon contradiction and just write what I want.
No.

I had completely forgot about Pinky’s dress in ‘Wakkiver twist’; also, apparently I had forgotten about a lot of other outfits he wore in Season 2. (sarcasm) So I guess I’ll just have to draw those too.
And yes. I just had to draw Brain’s outfit from that episode. I liked it to much to not draw it.

I’ve seen some scathing reviews about how Season 2 is actually worse, and how it tried and failed miserably to be like the original animaniacs and like? It must have been back in the original shows run that they actually watched the original because I’m sorry like. Season 2 is NOT perfect. But the best episodes are definitely starting to feel a lot closer to what we know and love. I can’t say much on PatB, I like it and the characters fine but it was never my top favorite and I’m no expert on them. But I do know Warners segments. And while still missing a certain something, the better ones still do feel a lot like what we’re used to.
Notable standouts off the top of my head are especially the episode on the Bayeux Tapestry, Yakko’s Big Idea (those two of which have two of the best songs in the season and, in my opinion, feel like they really fit in with Rogel’s music in the 90s). Now Loading is a fun modern take of similar shorts like Go Fish. And Wakkiver Twist really felt like a fun return to form, as part of what I missed about the ensemble cast was utilizing everyone in one big skit. And while I feel like a lot of the usage of technical jargon and phrases of today, as well as some of the, I’m just going to call it tumblr-speak, is annoying and I could do without, it feels a lot less annoying than in S1, where it felt a little more forced. (”Oh Pinky, I thought you were woke.” fucking decimated me though).
It’s definitely not perfect and I still have my gripes, and I could write a better review and analysis on more time but. It definitely feels like the writers are starting to find their footing and I hope they’re allowed to keep going. And as a huge music nerd for the songs of Animaniacs past I’m just super amped for so many more songs and I hope there’s more to come.
TLDR: Is animaniacs 2020 perfect, no, but s2 is definitely better than s1 and it feels like the writers are really starting to understand the characters and what makes a good segment better and I really hope they’re given the opportunity to write more.

Animaniacs Season 3 Predictions
So season 3's segment titles leaked. Based on info that we have about all three seasons, I have a some predictions about a few of them! I'll try not to make the predictions too basic like "Mad Mouse Furry Road will be a parody Mad Max Fury Road" or "Planet Warner will be a segment about the Warners", etc. I'll try to guess what exactly might happen in some of them-specific plot details.
Spoilers(?) ahead!
Santamaniacs : This is most likely a Christmas special (nice-I was hoping they'd do one) about the Warners. Based on the pun it seems like the Warners, for whatever reason, will help/take the place of Santa. At the very least Santa will probably appear. Perhaps the Warner's will act as Santa's elves, or maybe even "reindeer", maybe leading to a joke about them being part reindeer or something, like Wakko's "5% salamander" line.
How The Brain Thieved Christmas Two-Parter : In some recent interviews (or a podcast or panel) Rob and Maurice have mentioned an episode where Pinky apparently gets really mad at Brain. Given this segment is a two-parter (not to mention possibly the first PatB two-parter in the reboot-unless "Groundmouse Day" is), something significant must happen to justify that, so perhaps these are the segments in which that happens! It does seem to be a Grinch parody after all. (also OMG another Pinky and the Brain Christmas special, how exciting!)
Teeniacs : Teen/older Warners?! I'm not sure how they'd suddenly age, but I'm eager to see official designs of the Warners as older teenagers.
Soda-Pressed : There's a gag in season 1 where Dot straight up spoils some of season 2, like "My Sweet and Sour Sixteen" and "Wakkiver's Twist", but she also mentions an episode where the Warners "drink too much coffee". That didn't happen. Perhaps it was pushed to season 3? Yeah the title is a pun involving soda, not coffee, but perhaps it was re-written so they don't accidently encourage kids to drink coffee?
Lawn in Sixty Seconds : OK, so this is a bit of a stretch, but you know how the Warners don't have a lawn? And neither do Pinky and the Brain? Well who does that leave for this segment to be about? Well, you could argue Starbox and Cindy, but their segment titles tend to follow a naming convention (or at least have one of their names in the title), which this title doesn't; but you know who also has a lawn?
Tumblr media
I'm just saying, there's a rumour going 'round that a certain squirrel is in season 3-perhaps this will be a segment about how she mows her lawn? Then again, they do place the Warners in random locations for their segments all the time, so who knows?
Season 3 and Wb : This one I'm confident about, it obviously must be a follow-up to "23 and WB". It's probably the first segment of the season, barring a possible cold open.
Ready Warner One Two-Parter : Season 1 was going to have Freakzoid cameo that was scrapped because Paul Rugg was busy, however, recently Paul Rugg (the voice of Freakzoid) revealed that he is involved in season 3, so perhaps that cameo is finally gonna happen. It does seem like the segment will be a parody of "Ready Player One", a movie (before someone tries to tell me, yes I know it was based on a book) which has a lot of crossover cameos, so it would be fitting. Not to mention it's another two-parter, so it's not hard to imagine something really exciting would happen, and if there's actual stakes getting a superhero involved makes sense. Also, if she's not getting a full segment, perhaps Slappy might make a cameo here (or maybe she gets a cameo AND a segment or two, that would be cool).
Season 3 could be the best season yet, even if these predictions are wrong I'm excited to see these!

I'm so glad this show got a second season! You can tell with the first they were kinda trying to find their footing and this season was definitely an improvement! I'm especially glad they toned down on the gross-out humor (or at the very least, it's not as bad as it was in the first season) and even the sketches with the minor characters seem better. My favorite song was definitely A Brief History of History and my favorite episode was Wakkiver Twist (speaking of, it was great to see Plotz make a cameo appearance and it's hilarious that Brain wanted to take down Parliament considering when the episode aired).
Some other thoughts: the more adult jokes were pretty funny, I was shocked—shocked, I say!—when they actually referenced the damn Ray-Ban scam, I loved the callbacks to the old show and other Warner products (especially the Duck Amuck parody), I like how this season kept up the gag of the Warners being animated in a completely different style than what we're used to (in this case, the Thundercats parody), I kinda wished they included the part of Wakko essentially identifying as non-binary in the Noah's Ark parody like they did in the comic, I'm wondering just how Nora didn't know the Warners could sing, and I loved that there was an entire episode just dunking on Columbus.
I also really liked how this season ending on a cliffhanger, so I wonder if the next one really will have some sort of overarching story or if things will just return to the status quo either at the beginning or end of the first episode. Regardless, it's great to have this show back again and here's hoping for another great season.

(Hugs) yeah, that moment sucked. Honestly watching it the first time, I felt like neither of them were being serious about it. I also have a younger sibling and honestly we are always making jabs at each other and hurting our feelings. We just say stuff without thinking about it and even if we don’t mean what we say it still hurts.
But the Warner’s have the strongest sibling bond I have ever seen, I mean just in the reboot alone we’ve seen Yakko get furious when Wakko was shot by a bun, them helping him solve his missing donut caper and Yakko understanding how important it was and Dot comforting him, Dot being concerned when Wakko got close to a clown, the other two only going offensive on the manspreader when Wakko was sad he couldn’t see the giant crab, the sweet moment when he was unpossessed, going through the plot of Wakkiver Twist just so Wakko could get more gruel, Planet Warner is also about them helping their bro.
They’ve been together 90+ years, there are going to be fights and having moments where they hurt each other. But they always bounce back, they really love each other and that will never change. I hope I helped you feel a little bit better. From one fan that truly, genuinely cares about the Warner Sibs relationship, to another.
I don't believe they were intended to come off as seriously hating Wakko, but the tone was so poorly done. I'm a big sibling, too, to three little sibs. While every sibling relationship is different, I can firmly say I would never do anything like that to them. I know it would hurt like hell to have your older brother who you look up to try to demean you and make you specifically feel like the worst of the group.
Yakko is like an idol to me, the ideal big brother who would do absolutely anything for his sibs. He was who I tried to model myself after as a big brother. To see him taking cheap shots at his little brother hurt me deeply, because it directly flies in the face of everything I held him to be. They weren’t just cheap shots, either. It was some really degrading stuff about Wakko’s role in the sibling group, for a character who has already been shown to have insecurities about that.
Like you said, the Warners aren't just any regular old siblings. Their sibs are all they have, all they've ever had. Yakko isn't just any old big brother like me or you. He's their guardian, leader, and protector, the only fatherly figure Wakko and Dot have ever had. When he says something as horrible as that, it makes me question everything I thought I knew about him. Even if you take it as something scripted in-universe that he had to say, I still don't believe the Yakko I know would say it. When do the Warners ever strictly follow the script?
It just seems like such a grave misunderstanding of their characters. So grave that I can't even begin to understand how it happened.
(Hugs) You did make me feel better. We know what the Warners' relationship is truly like. This doesn't change that. It just makes it harder for me to wrap my head around. I have do some reevaluating of what I hold to be canon and how I can justify it to myself. Thank you! :)
