Good morning! I hope you slept well and feel rested? Currently sitting at my desk, in my study, attired only in my blue towelling robe, enjoying my first cuppa of the day. Welcome to the weekend!
As I was lacing up my trainers yesterday, The Trouble asked, “Are you going for your walk?” “Yup!” I replied. “But it’s raining!” she said. “Yeah, I know!” I replied, in my best Andy Pipkin voice. Of course, Roundwood Park was full of people: dog owners walking their dogs, mums and their toddlers (you know toddlers love jumping in puddles!) and mad buggers like me (in their shorts) walking or running. Fat boys need exercise, so this fat boy keeps moving! Here is my confession: as I sat in the outdoor gym area with cold rain splashing down on me, all I could think of was sitting on my sofa, in my warm front room, eating a fry-up with The Trouble. It was worth the wait!
I taught from 12.15 – 2.15 and then The Trouble and I had dinch (the meal halfway between dinner and lunch.) Afterwards, the temptation was to nap but I had too much to do and, while working, I was tempted to dip into Twitter to find out what new madness was occurring in the world, but staying abreast of the news these days requires the fortitude of a warrior. I know lots of people who have stopped watching the news because it’s too depressing. What can we do? When the next general election comes around, let’s make sure we don’t screw it up this time!
I’d love to talk to you about something other than ‘Modern Family’ but that’s all The Trouble wants to watch. We’ve got episodes of ‘Lovecraft Country’ and ‘The Repair Shop’ all stacked up but all she wants to watch is ‘Modern Family’ and who can blame her? At this point in our deeply-flawed history, we seem to have hit a new low, so people need escapism, people need to laugh and be spirited away to a better time or a better place with some kind of moral compass.
Look forward to your company tomorrow afternoon at 1.00pm for ‘The A-Z Of Mi-Soul Music’. The Letter T (Pt. 6). Have a fabulous and funky Friday! I love you all. And, remember, if you’ve read one of my books and enjoyed it, please go back to Amazon and leave a review. Fanx!
