Why does DC hate Jason Todd so much??? He's literally Babey!!! 🥺

You probably aren’t me expecting to respond to this factually but fuck it here we go. Because he was a little rat fuck who replaced their favorite Robin character for a shitty carbon copy.

I wasn’t in the comic scene, or alive, when that happened in comics, but Jason originally was a carbon copy of Dick. He grew up in a circus, was in an acrobatic troupe called the Flying Todd’s, and his parents died by the hands of Two-Face.

The next Crisis had his backstory changed but the fans still viewed him as the bad Walmart version of Robin.

(For the readers:)He was a shitty replacement for Dick Grayson that had been Robin for so long and readers didn’t like the new guy taking over the role.

He doesn’t have a memorable Robin stand-alone series, he was uncharacteristically ruthless for a robin, he replaced Dick and didn’t have any of the Grayson charm that made Robin so loveable, he was arrogant at times and bashed in general. People wanted Dick. Not this other guy.

Nowadays why they hate him?

Simple and yet layered reason:

He went from a very wonderful villain in the comics and got later boiled down to an anti hero. Most people I know that dislike Jason now preferred his villain arc. I prefer it too honestly but if we didn’t have anti hero Jason, we wouldn’t have the interactions he has with the batfamily at all and I really enjoy those scenes in the comics.

His characterization is all over too. He goes from absolutely batshit insane in some comics to angsty ninja boy, to essentially a little bit feistier Ric Grayson (I’m so sorry it’s my take DC fans please don’t fight me).

Also, his death was a BIG thing in comics and him coming back ruined the meaning behind his death.

Back in the day there were three deaths in comics that always happened and never changed. They were deaths that grew other characters around them. Those three were:

- Bucky Barnes from Captain America

- Jason Todd from Batman

- Uncle Ben from Spider-Man

Their deaths hold major stepping stones to character arc changes and how the main character acted for the rest of the comics. They were always the main characters greatest tragedy and a core part of their lore.

Of course two of these are now changed. Bucky Barnes is back as the Winter Soldier and Jason is back as Red Hood.

But that death was sacred for a while. For 20 years he was dead. He was Batman’s greatest tragedy. You did not fuck with Batman’s greatest sorrow. And they did it after (incel) Superman Prime punched the universe so hard Jason Todd came back to life.

Additionally, lots of comic writers just don’t fucking want to deal with him. Same with Damian I feel like. They throw both under the bus because they’d rather be writing other characters.

Most of this is my observations but if anyone else has any other comments to add feel free.

I’d say Chris is a legitimate source; if he claims they are together then that’s the fact (whatever his way of statements have been), and it being a contract/stunt is the conjecture. Not the opposite. //

BUT HE HAS NEVER CLAIMED ANYTHING, that's the kicker. Even when he posted the video dumps, no where did he claim to be with her, but rather heart emojis and the year that was. Every word that he said during the SMA contradicted the actions that proceeded into the whole pap walk. Remember how he likes PDA? There is literally no where he has showed an ounce of affection for that girl, even in those videos. They are just cringe stuff that he has done with every random person he knows,just to paint a narrative.. just enough to creat a story but with enough room for deniability. Another little thing that people forget is , People magazine also reached out to sources and NOTHING was CONFIRMED. The same magazine that interviewed him before the public launch and claimed that if he was in a relationship he would say it himself. Just Jared coming out with a story before the dumps that was quickly deleted.

Now if liking posts is a confirmation of relationship then that man has been in a relationship with a lot of women.

My point is, even Chris is not a source. Because he has not said anything about them being together. Yet when he was with Jenny Slate,it was CONFIRMED by HIS people , with Minka it was CONFIRMED by HIS people.

Did anyone confirm that he and Lilly James were together, yet there are photos of them. In fact there is more PDA in those two days photos than in this:

" two year relationship with the love of his life that he will marry and has been married to,or have a house together to be featured in AD" and every other little thing we have heard.

Again creating a story and narrative for a purpose. Basically, a STUNT..

But let's look at his recent activities, when he speaks when events have nothing to do with her. He has said that Dodger is his true partner, just recently at a Walmart event, he said that a dog gives you what no other relationship with a human can and again right before he deactivated, he said how good it feels to be ALONE. I don't know anything about that man or more than what is speculated about him on SM, but that doesn't sound like a man is in a happy and healthy relationship. That doesn't even sound like a man in a happy place at the moment IMO.

Food for thought, didn't anyone notice the timing of all this. The public launch aka pap walk was right on the day of WN series premiere and Chris deactivated right after Netflix released WN to be picked up by another service. What did Simon Barry do on that fateful day of the pap walk, he tweeted, "he could do this all day." He also seemed very proud that WN did so well with little marketing. And just recently,what did he tell his WN minions, that the show has been renewed even though that is clearly a white lie.

Justin's father Facebook post really NEEDED to remind us that the marriage was to "Captain America" not even Chris Evans.

And the little pause after it. It was so funny!

I don't know if the fact that it wasn't confirmed means something. I think that's usually how it goes with these types of articles: when a "source" talks about something rather than the people involved.

I always loved the scare videos with Scott because they were genuine and funny, but theirs with Alba was neither.

I agree that he doesn't talk about things like being super in love and being in an almost 2-year relationship. I'd get it if they were in a super secret or private relationship; however, they aren't. They did a pap walk, and he's shared several stories about their relationship. I'm not saying he would talk about her or mention her name all the time, but I think he would phrase a lot of things differently.

The fact that he was Captain America had nothing to do with what Justin's father was talking about. We know Chris Evans is dating Alba, and I'm pretty sure people know he played Captain America. It was all for the show.

I agree. So let me explain why these pro-plagiarism posts exist in the wake of Somerton getting bonked into galactic prison as succinctly as I can: I dont think these people are talking about plagiarism.

The sentiment I've seen flying around lately on adaptation of a work to become your work is: The new, appropriating work must not serve as a "suitable replacement" for experiencing the appropriated work. In all cases: Clear, non-misleading credit should be given to sources used for further reading and accountability. I agree with this!

The "suitable replacement" argument covers only egregious piracy and plagiarism. Putting your name on someone else's work, unaltered or nearly unaltered, is plagiarism. Reversing footage, putting a little filter on it, and showing an entire documentary as "Vaporwave Mirror Edit - Life of Amazon Bugs (2021) by BigBalzBobby" is definitely a "suitable replacement" for actually watching the doc but with all of its credits and sources removed. Showing a series of tiktoks in entirety with all credit removed, and you saying something after it's over, is plagiarism because I dont need to watch that tiktok now to experience it in its unaltered form and you've obfuscated the source on purpose to assume control of the work in its entirety.

Using a 5 second disco sample or remixing an existing song into a different genre is not a "suitable replacement" for hearing the original (in all but a few cases which barely modify the original work.) That's sampling, it's generally done with credit of some sort, and what people are arguing to protect: The right to adapt. Plunderphonics albums such as those by The Avalanches are adaptations, no matter what the corporations who own the mangled samples within them will try to tell you in order to gain free control of the artist's fruits of labor. The presentation of Negativland's Dispepsi as a work of protest makes it an unsuitable replacement for the advertisements it's stealing. That album wants you to drink less Pepsi, not more.

Changing 5 words from a lesser known queer author's essay, then presenting all of their points as your own to profit from in its original informative context, that's "a suitable replacement" for reading the adapted the work and cannot be said to be your own: You just read me the whole article with a few words changed for the purposes of sentence flow and claimed it as a wholly original work. That's vile and should not be let to stand. It's also not media piracy...

Piracy is wholesale stealing but does not plagiarize: If you resold bootlegs of Captain America: Civil War to make rent and replaced all of the credits with your name, that would be patently unbelivable to basically all consumers but it would technically be plagiarism. As it is, all credit is generally left intact in bootlegs and you have only stolen the rights to distribute that for-profit work for profit. This practice of stealing the rights to distribute a work for profit with full credit to its makers is fun to argue about the objective morality of. Try it today!

But yeah: Cite your sources, work with the cretors you're adapting if you can to properly represent them, and don't confuse taking credit for almost anonymous queer creators' ideas to build a personal ideagogue-like empire in an effort to get rich... with stealing an album from Walmart.

If you do support stealing works and claiming them as your own til you get caught as acceptable businesslike behavior, I'd love to hear your ideas on the matter in the public replies phrased as: Your home address, your most recent or vivid nightmare, when you're usually home, and the full billing information associated with your bank account and debit card. I will personally address your points if you also provide your Linkedin password and a hole pic.

a/n: apologies for the late upload but i started university yesterday and my little sister started high school so it’s been very busy in my house lol. anyways this fic is inspired by the popular (and i mean popular in like.. 2013) hc that piper’s memories of kissing jason on the rooftop were actually with leo. i LOVE LOVE this headcanon for reasons i can’t explain - what can i say, i’m a hopeless romantic, so here’s a drabble based off of it!

“C’mon! You’re gonna love this McLean.” Leo grinned as he grabbed Piper’s hand and pulled her through the hallway and up the hidden staircase to the roof. The Native American girl rolled her eyes at him, following behind him as he pushed the door open.

The rooftop was empty, except for the stuff Leo had snuck up during his spare period - fairy lights, two bean bag chairs from the Walmart two blocks away, as well as Piper’s favourite blanket which was honeysuckle pink and fuzzy on the inside. Piper gasped beside him.

“What the….” Her words trailed off as she turned to Leo. “You did that for me?” He looked at her, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. “Yeah. You uh, you mentioned wanting to see the stars like you used to in your grandpa’s backyard, and well… this obviously isn’t that but it’s at least something?” Piper stared at him for a second before throwing her arms around him. “Oh my god, I love you Valdez.” 

Leo’s heart fluttered. “Love you too McLean. Cmon. I have Thor and Captain America plus that gross vegan popcorn brand you love.” Piper punched his arm before grinning at him.

“You’re such an idiot.” She said and Leo smirked before leaning into her. “And you love it.” He looked down at her lips, before looking at her eyes and the way they slightly widened. “Maybe I do.” She whispered in response and Leo hummed.

I just had the sweetest interaction with someone while at Walmart. It hardly happens but my heart is sooo full and my inner child is beaming.

I remember when I was younger I geeked out seeing someone own something that I was interested in. At the top of my head, twilight merch, Disney bags, and even loungeflys when they first started coming out. I'd point it out to my mom and she'd let me geek out for a few minutes and we'd move on with our day.

I've been using my Captain America loungefly bag as my 'purse' for a bit. Attached to the zipper is Bucky's dog tag. To me it was usual to have sitting on my back while in the store. It feels more secured on me then it ever will sitting in the front of the cart.

While waiting in line I just hear this loud gasp behind me. At first I didn't think anything of it until I heard "She's got a captain America bag! That's soo cool!" Followed by "AND IT HAS BUCKY BARNES'S DOG TAG ON IT!"

I didn't want to automatically turn around and embarrass her or anything so I waited until she was further away and when I saw her, she was just beaming and smiling at me as she walked away.

Don't get me wrong, I still geek out with my mom on occasion but it just felt so wholesome to hear the excitement.

I know the little things have me excited but I absolutely love the little moments like that.
