Plant of the Day
Monday 9 May 2022
This graceful, spreading Rosa xanthina 'Canary Bird' (shrub rose) has been trained to cover this wall. With dainty, fern-like foliage this rose has grown well in this shady space and the flowers were buzzing with early pollinators on this once a year flowering cultivar.

Thinking about the Mulberry Lane
Pulling out the box reminded me why I wanted this house so much.
It's a front-opener, so Dad doesn't have to cut acrylic to keep the cats out (a service not available to me when I lived on the other coast).
Being a front opener means no decorating around windows! All of the walls are potentially useful for shelves, fireplaces, appliances, etc.
I may also omit the staircases. The ones that come with the kit are minimal stairs that don't mean any known building code. It's possible to upgrade, but that seems like a pain for a feature I don't even like. Mom was always all "dollhouses must have staircases." My attitude is that a dollhouse made for an adult is an art installation, and sometimes the point of the art is not to realism.
Let's do a staircase count
1:18 -- Playmobil Victorian mansion has stairs because they're part of the structure. The Medieval Town buildings slated for the holiday diorama don't, being from a more primitive era of Playmobil.
1:24
Modern Abode has, because Dad built it and was showing off.
Maine Cottage has, because it's a Melissa & Doug house.
Santa Barbara Cottage has, because it's Blue Box's finest moment.
Sunflower Cottage doesn't, because it's a low-end Calico Critters house.
Post-modern Restaurant doesn't, because it's a Target $5 1:4 drinks cart.
Florida Barn has ladders. It is not ADA-compliant.
And then the smaller stuff doesn't have stairs or is single-story.
That is a way higher percentage of staircases than I expected, probably because the only thrift store rehab house currently is the Maine Cottage.

Rest in peace, Walmer.
You came, did absolutely nothing of importance (aside from inadvertently giving Tula the ick) , and then died.
Post Episode 9 Edit: HE LIVES???!!?!??!
