INCOMING: A DESPERATE COLLEGE STUDENTS OATHBOUND PREDICTIONS!!!!
Tumblr media
CC @mageofspace__ on IG
TRACY!! I JUST FELL TO MY KNEES IN THE MIDDLE OF WALMART! THE WHOLE GANG!! I’m so happy to see Valec, Alice, Will, & Mariah in the flesh like wtf! But while we are here, I want to talk about some of my Oathbound predictions…because I can. ❤️⚔️💙
P.S. IF YOU HAVEN’T READ LB OR BM I SUGGEST YOU DO NOT CONTINUE! Spoilers ahead!
• Okay first, I truly believe that Bree has had her squire and kingsmage all along, Nick and Sel. I mean just with the relationships between those three, there is no way it goes any other way.
also, Alice will wake from her coma and have somehow inherited powers from Will as she was LITERALLY breathing his aether signature in. Like I’m not 100% sure how that would work, but we’ve seen it in media before, take Monica Rambeau and Wanda’s hex for an example! Maybe that interaction with magic will awaken Alice's own unique magic too, or maybe it's closely related to Bree again how the Mesmer did too in LB.
Tumblr media
Regardless, when she awakens I think bby girl will be given an even more important role in the finale of this series. Maybe like being Will's squire...
• it’s going to come out that not only is shadow daddy, IYKYK not spoiling for potential new readers who have no sense of self-preservation and are reading this anyways, is not only Sel's father but VALECHEZ’s! Like not only would that be pure comedy considering how they were at each other's NECKS in BM, but it makes sense as to why Sel was succumbing to his demonia so fast, faster than others, maybe because a little more demon than others…
•I think this new magic system that Tracy is cooking up is going to tap into Natasia and Faye’s relationship a bit more and even Sel and Bree’s.
Tumblr media
I also think it’s going to be the solution to not only Sel’s demonia, but Bree’s bloodmark, and even abatement and all these fucking legendborn oaths. I mean think about the word OATH, practically meaning something one HAS to abide by. Vera took an oath of sorts with the blood mark “one daughter at a time for all time.” The legend born and their oath of service and all this, as I call it, greedy magic which shortens their life spans, the Merlins too! What if, just what if, Faye and Natasia found a way to combine both their forms of magic (root + aether + blood craft) and created something entirely new? Something so potent and powerful, defying these “oaths” or what you could call them, curses, to cure all these things…and what if since Bree is from Faye’s lineage, sel from Natasia, what if they can do it together too.
• I think we will learn more about the Morgaine. More on Nick….hmm. A lot of LB fans keep calling him boring, but with his mom's disappearance, and the fact that Tracy is too good of an author to simply leave his arc hanging, I don't trust it. Maybe he will even go rogue, I'm not too sure ATP, but don't sleep on Nick!
Tumblr media
• Lastly for my final predictions…more like a pipe dream. I really, for the life of me, need Bree to pull a Wanda from episodes 8-9 of WandaVision with Shadow Daddy.
Tumblr media
We know Bree is smart and clever, this ain’t new! So, I need her to take what she has learned from shadow daddy, and then pull a clean uno reverse, and get out of there! EXPEDITIOUSLY!
Tumblr media
Then from there, I need her to find Sel and Nastia (preferably in some cute cabin in the woods, and Natasia needs to be a MILF) this revelation of Bree's survival prompts Natasia to discuss the above ^^^ She and Bree get to work! Sel is now cured and they can get these oaths removed!!! Once these oaths are removed, the REGENTS ARE TOAST, TOR TOO! Then we get to work on Camlann in book 4! Cuz that’s how tf Tracy does it! Period!!
THESE ARE JUST MY PREDICTIONS, NONE OF THESE ARE CANON!! All I have to say is I'm fucking so excited about this book and even though it's still two years out I'm trusting Tracy's expertise to bring us something DE-LI-CIOUS! Also is it too much to ask that if this is adapted for television to have it animated, we know how much Tracy loves and takes influence from anime... it's only fair, and I feel can make for a more accurate and dynamic visual medium.
That's all for now. PEACE.

ii) Is the new eleventh doctor multishot fic based on/inspired by or like wandavision? The laughter sitcom things just made me connect the dots and would love to know if that is what i think is! and ahh you're in mcu and marauders fandom!! ilysm for that! Makes me wanna be your friend tbh lol. oh and have you read all the young dudes, the marauders fanfiction on ao3?
My guy, I am so obsessed with so many fandoms - it's a problem honestly. But it's their fault for being so amazing.
I'd say the first fandom I was in love with was Harry Potter so yes please all the Marauders content! I haven't been a big user of ao3, but maybe I'll look up that fic.
And the mcu, YES! I've been watching all the movies and shows in chronological order and absolutely loving it. I love that wandavision reference, but it wasn't the inspiration for my new eleventh doctor series.
It was actually inspired by Supernatural 😂 Season 5, Episode 8: Changing Channels. In that episode the brothers are sent through scene after scene of cliche tv show tropes and commercials. And to escape the cycle they have to play their roles and pretend that it's real.
So, a little spoiler alert, each part of that eleventh doctor series will be set in a different tv show/movie trope. Fans probably figured out the second episode was set in a F.R.I.E.N.D.S sitcom.
And someone guessed that the third episode would be in The Princess Bride universe. You'll have to keep reading to guess what show inspiration will be for the next parts - although you could probably guess from the titles 😊
I'd love to be friends! I need more friends obsessed with the same fandoms as me so we can discuss plot points, fan theories, and character development.
I hope you have a lovely rest of your day!

Let’s Talk about the Multiverse of Madness (objectively)
This is your only warning about spoilers for this movie so if you don’t have ‘spoilers’ blacklisted you have been warned. Also, this is gonna get pretty dark so also be warned for that.
Now that I have gotten the hype of watching this movie out of my system, I can now put my more tame thoughts into form. I did some reading on other peoples’ opinions about the film before writing this, so I am aware of their qualms with the film. However, this is my opinion about the film. I am also someone who has been a fan of Doctor Strange for almost ten years now (scary to think about when you realize I have been through Stephen’s entire MCU history from fruition to now on tumblr) and I have read the comics, so I know most of the lore.
Now, you don’t have to go into this film with much background information outside of the first film, Infinity War, and Wandavision, but if you know the lore like I do, you’re going to love this film. And loved this film I did so much I’m debating about going to the theater to watch it again, it was that good after thinking some things over. (Disclaimer I did not watch Wandavision and am not going to shovel money for Disney+ to watch Wandavision.)
I am going to touch upon all aspects of the film including lore, the future of the frachise, other people’s opinions, and what some people have seemed to missed with the theme of the film.
The first thing is that there is technically no villain, only a threat. That threat being Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch. This is someone who currently is going through mental distress to the point of obsession. The way some phrases such as how she explained her thoughts on how she felt about taking the Mind Stone out of Vision’s head was a very human way of tackling the big theme of the film, which was based around the actions of the characters, their consequences and how they affected the people around them, and how they dealt with the hand they’ve been given in life whether it be good or bad.
Wanda just happened to take her shitty hand and turn it up to 11 by going on a multiverse murder spree.
When Wanda killed herself, it wasn’t out of force, it was out of choice because of the sheer amount of guilt she felt over the things she did. You know, like a very depressed person with no more strings to grasp at. So they do the sudoku.
Wanda is supposed to be the negative representation to Stephen how people deal with loss and trauma. Stephen doesn’t understand what Wanda is going through because he has difficulty relating to others. It took seeing himself with the powers of the Darkhold and what it did to him to realize that he should move on from Christine and not be afraid of being truly alone like he has since his accident. This is represented by not fixing his watch that he broke during the accident in the first film until the very end of this one to show that he has moved on. It was his symbol of attachment of craving that love and affection of one person, just like in Wanda’s case where she wanted the love and affection of her ‘children’. She wanted what most of the other Avengers got after Infinity War which was closure or happiness to their lives and used whatever means she could get her hands on to make herself happy without being aware of the damage it was causing.
Stephen could have had easily just given in and used the Darkhold to whisk himself away to a universe where he still was a surgeon and he had Christine’s love. Stephen could have easily took America’s power with no remorse, but instead he told her to trust herself that she could control her power. Even despite having a similar internal battle that Wanda had decided to side with. No matter how much they tried to rationally reason with her, to help her see the turth of what she was doing was unreasonable and unethichal, she had made her choice to give in to her demons and delusions. You never saw the battle with Stephen, but the signs were there.
Initially when this movie was announced to be in the genre of horror, there were two things I wanted way back when. 1. Tentacles (because it isn’t Doctor Strange if you don’t have tentacles) 2. Stephen’s emotional trauma and a fight with his sanity because of the guilt he had to carry in Infinity War.
I got both of those in spades.
Stephen is a very emotional person. He truly does care about people and his actions. He carries his guilt if he screws up and when he royally screwed up with the incursions, he was clinging to having the acceptance of Christine to care for him just like after his accident when the entire world had abandoned him. He was afraid of being alone. Just. like. Wanda.
I have seen some people say that Michael Waldron who was a writer for Loki and this movie ruined Loki and Stephen by putting them under powerful women, but I disagree with Stephen’s case. Wanda doesn’t overshadow him, it’s just the dynamic of how they are presenting themselves and dealing with their issues is on the opposite ends of the spectrum: Wanda is more external and vocal while Stephen is more reserved about it. It took him the entire movie to speak up and say ‘yeah I’m scared of losing you and being alone’.
Stephen and Wanda’s internal battles with achieving happiness was something I related to on a personal level. Always wanting to have what you want, not being aware of what other people may think of what you’re doing or for how they feel about the situation. I’ve been through that multiple times with multiple people. It’s only until recently that I’ve been able to realize that there have been people in my life, mostly outside of the internet who have been strong-willed enough to call me out on my bullshit instead of letting me continue to make a fucking ass of myself and realize that I have more potential than I ever realized. And it’s not only them, you have to be patient enough to listen to what they have to say to realize the truth about yourself through the lens of others and be willing to seek help when a shoulder is there for you to lean on. And this instance, I cared enough about these people to seek the help I needed to be able to become a better person.
There are multiple quotes throughout the Buddhist doctrine about the moon, its reflection, and relating it to mindfulness. The one that comes to mind when I think about the film is the monkey grabbing for the moon’s reflection in the water. It is grabbing for an illusion while the real thing is above in the sky, illuminating the night.
Basically the entire theme of Multiverse of Madness can be summed up in this trailer for another film, which is actually a documentary.
youtube
Something else that a lot of people, I guess forgot when watching this movie, is that Stephen is just a Master of the Mystic Arts and not the Sorcerer Supreme. It just dawned on me when I was watching MoistCritikal’s review on the film that Stephen being underpowered and having “unimpressive magic” and not being able to completely subdue Wanda, someone with the power of a literal demon at her disposal who could mow the sorcerers of Kamar-taj 10 times over, is actually very fitting for this film.
The original run of Doctor Strange comics from the 80′s and 90′s are named in this order. 1. Doctor Strange: Master of the Mystics Arts 2. Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme
We are just hit 1.5 in Stephen’s journey in the MCU with the introduction to the next leg of his journey. You know it, I know it, there is gonna be a third movie. Stephen’s going to become Sorcerer Supreme either because Wong dies or we finally get to see the Vishanti in their physical forms and see them give the mantle to Stephen for kicking Dormammu’s ass with the science of judo.
No, I am not making that shit up.
Tumblr media
This is getting long already and I haven’t even talked about the other aspects of this film which are the lore and the horror.
Imma start with the latter: this is a PG-13 film, so gore is limited, but Sam Raimi definitely knew where to push the boundaries with this film and there were some moments that did actually scare me. Wanda contorting out of the gong? Black Bolt’s death? Slicing Peggy Carter in half? BREAKING PROFESSOR XAVIER’S NECK ON SCREEN?! Oh yeah, and the zombie makeup at the end was a breath of fresh air to be real instead of some CGI garbage. The cinematography in a lot of the shots was really really good or unique, especially when Wanda was dreamwalking for the first time as it switched back to her in both bodies was really good. Though scene with the slowing of time to get a jump scare in was kind of cheap.
I know I haven’t really talked about America Chavez because in all honesty, she was the just macguffin of the movie, so I really don’t have much to say except she was there to do her thing and we found out Stephen can’t speak Spanish which is hilarious. Oh, and this is what made me give this movie the praise it deserves. They gave the biggest middle finger to China in particular of showing America’s parents who are canonically lesbians on screen and there is absolutely no way you can edit it out of the film without losing some important backstory to America’s character so anyone watching this without her parents on screen will be confused as fuck as to how America got to where she was in the movie.
But now it’s on to what made this movie, for me, grin from ear to ear. All of the lore and Easter Eggs stuff within it for the Doctor Strange fans who know the ins and outs of this stupid wizard. This is not your lame ass list on the basic aspects of the movie, this is stuff that you never knew was a thing or I thought it was a nice touch to add in for continuity sake.
1. Zombie Stephen is actually Stephen from this version of the Defenders from 2011 where he slept with a college student.

My humble thoughts on
WandaVision Episode 8 (SPOILERS!!):
Wow! Okay I'm going to have to include spoilers in this analysis because there's just too much that happened in this episode to talk about without trying to dance around things.
Ready? Go!
There was so much good stuff in this episode! I have a couple nitpicks but overall it was fantastic! We get quite a big dose of backstory in this episode starting with Agatha Harkness. As I mentioned in my previous thoughts, in the comics Agatha was a witch from the old Salem era. This episode confirms this in a flashback to open the episode. As Marvel is prone to do, they don't follow the comics verbatim so there are some differences between this live-action Agatha and her comic-book counterpart. In the comics Agatha was definitely a protagonist often helping and mentoring Wanda. This new Agatha seems to be on the villainous side so far but her motive is still a bit unclear. Although she has a rather snarky and condescending attitude she seems to want to help Wanda get to the root of her problems. Why is still the question. She was definitely trying to unravel how Wanda gained such incredible power to be able to create such a large reality as Westview. Does she want that power for herself? Signs are leaning toward yes but I still have doubts because of the comics. Again Marvel has never been shy about changing up characters for the big screen but this may be the first time they've flipped the script on a particular character changing their affiliation from good to evil. We've got one episode left so Agatha may indeed be just a power hungry witch or there may still be more to her motivations and she might actually be a good albeit snarky witch trying to help Wanda.
We get to see some new backstory about Wanda's past as well as filling in some of the gaps in her story post Age of Ultron and Endgame. We seen where her love of old sitcoms comes from as well as the fateful encounter with the unexploded Stark Industries missile that set her and her brother on their path to becoming super-powered individuals. Interestingly Agatha seemed to imply that Wanda may have had some magic ability before she encountered the Mind Stone suggesting that the Stark missile didn't explode because Wanda actually willed it not to. Hmmm.
We see more evidence that the Director of S.W.O.R.D is a lying, manipulating jerk. If I recall correctly, in a previous episode he said that Wanda stormed S.W.O.R.D HQ and stole Vision's body and revived him inside Westview. Evidently that was not the case as in another flashback we see that Wanda did go to S.W.O.R.D HQ to find Vision's body but she did not leave with it as the Director said. The Vision that is inside Westview was indeed created by Wanda's power.
As we saw at the end of Episode 6 when Vision tried to leave the Hex he started to disintegrate indicating that he probably cannot exist outside of Wanda's reality. Of course the other huge reveal in the end credits teaser is that not only is S.W.O.R.D still in possession of Vision's actual, physical body but they managed to revive him using residual energy from Wanda's powers! He wakes up and is now totally ivory/grey in color just like in the famous comic-book story "Vision Quest" from John Byrne's West Coast Avengers run! A major geek-out moment for comic fans!
The final subject I want to address is the whole "Multiverse" angle. Marvel seems to enjoy teasing this angle only to swerve us when it appears to be happening. We know it IS going to happen. The subtitle for Dr. Strange 2 is "The Multiverse of Madness", and we know that Spider-Man: No Way Home will involve the Multiverse as well but twice now Marvel has put it out there only to pull it right back.
First in Spider-Man: Far From Home they teased that Mysterio and the Elemental monsters were from an alternate Earth. This of course was just an elaborate story concocted by Mysterio to fool everybody. Secondly, in WandaVision the Quicksilver from X-Men: Days of Future Past shows up at Wanda's door. This too turns out to not be entirely true as well. This Peitro was just a manifestation by Agatha and not actually the Quicksilver from another universe. So we have some teases and mentions of the Multiverse but no real instances of it so far.
On a related note, there was a line of dialogue in one of the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailers by Nick Fury that said "The Snap (from Thanos) ripped a hole in our reality." This line was dropped from the final film but it's interesting nonetheless. That line indicated that there actually was a rift opened to a Multiverse but ultimately, Mysterio was revealed to not actually be from a parallel Earth so it would have made the quote kinda irrelevant at the time. That may be why Marvel cut the line as they might not have been ready to give an actual reason or cause for a Multiverse when they it hadn't actually been introduced yet, just the notion or idea of it. Which brings us back to our current point in time with WandaVision, when will the actual Multiverse storyline begin?
Deep breath That was a lot to process! The grand finale is next week. Is Agatha actually the true villain? Or is there one last surprise in store? We've now got "Double Vision"! (See what I did there?) Can't wait to see how this all concludes!

Marvel Pitstop: A Look Back at the MCU’s Phase Four - Movies
Tumblr media
Before we see the start of the middle part of the Multiverse Saga in MCU’s Phase Five first film Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, we take a pitstop of sorts.  A look back at Phase Four.
It has felt like a lifetime since the conclusion of Marvel’s Infinity Saga in 2019 with the finale Avengers: Endgame and its epilogue Spider-Man: Far From Home.  Marvel took an unplanned break in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic, pausing some productions and leading to a packed slate.  It seemed like from the release of WandaVision in mid-January 2021 all the way to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in November 2022, there was an almost non-stop stream of Marvel content, to varying results.
It was revealed back in July at the San Diego Comic Con that Phase Four would end with Wakanda Forever and Phases Five and Six will all run through 2025 and culminate in back to back Avengers movies: Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.  So this will be a two part post going over Phase Four, first the feature films and then the Disney+ television series's.
SPOILER WARNING, I probably won’t spoil the whole thing but since I’ll be going over all of the releases there will be some degree of spoilers.  I’ll go over a little synopsis, best performances, and best episode of the series for the shows or best scene for the movies.
We’ll start with the movies.
MOVIES
There are a few I already reviewed here.  I won’t copy those, I’ll just let you know if I did or not under the movie.  There were a couple of great ones here and then the rest of mixed results.
Tumblr media
Black Widow - Released July 9, 2021 the Meat Life Rating - 7/10
I didn’t review this one fully.  I feel like this was a solid entry but was released too late.  If this were release around the time when the story actually takes place (sometime between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War), it probably would have hit different and been more effective.  But since we know she survives the events of the movie and dies later on in the MCU timeline, the stakes are impacted and kind of muted.  Still a pretty entertaining movie.  It takes a look at Natasha Romanov on the run while dealing with her past as a Russian spy-weapon and the fake family of spies she grew up with in America.  Probably the weakest part of the movie was Natasha and her found family taking down the airborne Red Room and villain head of the Red Room Dreykov.  The ending scenes seemed too reminiscent of the ending scenes of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  I also rerated this slightly down from 7.5 to 7 from my initial review.
Best Performance - Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova This was Pugh’s debut in the MCU.  As stated in Hawkeye, Pugh steals the show.  And that’s hard to do because of solid performances from Scarlet Johannson’s lead character, David Harbour’s hilarious performance of Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz’s performance of Melina Vostokoff.  Pugh’s charm electrifies the movie, especially when she makes fun of the Black Widow stance.
Best Scene - The Vostokoff Farm After Belova and Romanov break the Red Guardian out of jail and their plane runs out of fuel, the three head to find Vostokoff at her farm outside St Petersburg.  We see the dysfunctional family dynamic of the four while they have dinner.  Although they were put together and weren’t blood family, you could tell by the banter and emotional argument that they were a found-family that were heartbreakingly broken apart years before.
Tumblr media
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings - Released September 3, 2021 the Meat Life Rating - 8/10
Briefly reviewed here.
Best Performance - Tony Leung as Xu Wenwu This cast is stacked with relative newcomer Simu Liu as the title character, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s BFF Katy, Michelle Yeoh as Shang-Chi’s aunt Ying Nan, and Ben Kingsley reprieving his role as actor Trevor Slattery.  But the Hong Kong film legend Leung is the best.  He makes his villain character Wenwu - Shang-Chi
Best Scene - The Skyscraper Fight There’s lots to choose from here.  I love the interaction between Shawn and Katy so whenever it is just them cooking I love watching it.  There are also a lot of really good set pieces here from the Jackie Chan tribute bus fight to the end showdown in Ta Lo.  But the best scene is the skyscraper fight in Macau.  The running and tumbling in the scaffolding and the sparing off the side of the building are awesome.
Tumblr media
Eternals - Released November 5, 2021 the Meat Life Rating - 6/10
From Academy Award winning director Chloe Zhao staring the likes of Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Selma Hayek, Kit Harington, Kumail Nanjiani and Brian Tyree Henry among others, this seems like it sets up to be a slam dunk, right?  Maybe a prestigy spin on Marvel?  Well, although it was the lowest domestic grossing MCU movie since 2008′s The Incredible Hulk and mostly panned by critics, this one isn’t as bad as they say it is.  What didn’t help a lot of these Phase Four movies is that Marvel’s standard was raised coming out of Infinity War/Endgame in the Infinity Saga.  But people soon forget about Captain Marvel and how out of place that film felt coming out between the big Avengers movies.  Anyway, as for as this movie, the Eternals follows a group of immortal alien beings as they protect the Earth since ancient times against threats from other alien creatures known as Deviants.  There is a twist in the middle of the film that I’ll leave you to experience.  The vibe of the film felt more closer to the DC’s SnyderVerse, maybe because this film’s approach felt more serious than typical MCU fare (there are even references to DC characters Batman and Superman in a couple instances in the film).  If you have an open couple hours you aren’t doing anything, worth a look at this movie.  It’s not great but not as bad as people made it out to be upon its initial release.  But I don’t think this will end up being vital to the MCU experience and overall storyline going forward.
Best Performance - Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos A lot of the acting in this movie is a little uneven, but probably because of the uneven material.  But I do enjoy a lot of the comic relief that Brian Tyree Henry provides in a couple of his scenes and being in Marvel’s first same sex couple.  And being the tech guy on the Eternals crew talks to me.
Best Scene - The London Deviant Sighting The Amazon scene is also a solid.  But the first Deviant sighting in London was great.  You get suspense/horror vibes when the Deviant is in the water following Sersi, Dane, and Sprite.  And then when it comes out and fights Ikaris, we get to see the reveal of Sersi’s powers.  Sersi turning a double-decker bus into rose petals as it is about to fall on her looks spectacular.
Tumblr media
Spider-Man: No Way Home - Released December 17, 2021 the Meat Life Rating - 8/10
Briefly reviewed here.  I originally rated this movie 9/10.  But I adjusted it down to an 8.  Still a great and enjoyable film, but I think probably an overreaction a bit when I first watched.
Best Performance - Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin Some great performances from Tom Holland, Jacob Batalon, Zendaya, and Marisa Tomei.  But Dafoe steals the movie and becomes a great Big Bad in the movie.  Psycho Osborn builds off of his original Spider-Man performance and gives a chilling villain.
Best Scene - Happy’s Apartment Showdown As cool as it is when the Tobey and Andrew Spider-Men come in and as cool as it is to see them fight together, the MCU Spidey taking on the snapped Green Goblin takes the trophy.  Just Dafoe’s still face laughing as Holland’s Spider-Man is pummeling him is so creepy.  And then, as controversial as it is, Aunt May’s death is very impactful and gives stakes to this movie.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - Released May 6, 2022 the Meat Life Rating - 7/10
It is interesting to think that this was actually originally slated before Wandavision and Spider-Man: No Way Home and had to be reworked a ton due to shifts in the scheduling caused by the pandemic.  It would be interesting to see what this movie would have been before they had to rework.  Instead we got a movie that changed directors midway through production from the first Doctor Strange director Scott Dickerson to cult horror film legend Sam Raimi.  And you can kind of tell a bit by the vibe and style of some of the scenes who directed what.  In any event, this was an entertaining entry.  Doctor Strange has to protect America Chavez from Wanda Maximoff.  America has a special power to jump between multiverses and Wanda is wanting to take that power in order to reunite with her two sons who were disappeared at the end of Wandavision.  I love Elizabeth Olsen, and I think Marvel did her Wanda character dirty.  While she started as a villain of sorts in Avengers: Age of Ultron, she had become a hero over the years through Avengers: Endgame.  And while she was a bit of a character on edge in Wandavision, I didn’t really like that she was turned full villain in this one.
Best Performance - Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez As against the villain turn as I am, Elizabeth Olsen was solid in her Wanda role.  Benedict Cumberbatch is always solid.  I wish we got more out of Chiwetel Ejoifor.  While it was cool to briefly see John Krasinski as Reed Richards and Patrick Stewart as a version of Professor Xavier (both probably trolling fans) as well as seeing Hayley Atwell as Captain Carter, I think the best performance is from Xochiti Gomez as America Chavez.  She was the best part of this movie and gave that teenage wonder and injected it in this movie.
Best Scene - Zombie Strange in the Climax Fight Scene The opening scene where America and a version of Strange is being chased between universes by a demon was cool.  Obviously the Illuminati scene on Earth-838 was cool to see with Wanda mowing down each of them.  But probably the chaos of the last act was probably the best.  From the music note fight between Strange Prime and Apocalypse Strange was cool and then Strange tapping into Dead Strange from the beginning to fight Wanda to save America was great.  Solid Raimi stuff.

Thor: Love and Thunder - Released July 8, 2022 the Meat Life Rating - 7/10
I think the best way to describe this entry of Thor is Ragnarok off the rails.  This is director Taika Waititi throwing everything at the screen.  While most lands, some are a little over the top.  This is a fun movie but can we really believe Thor to grow dumber and more dude-bro-y after the trauma and emotional weight of Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame?  In any event, we follow Thor Odonson as he navigates to stop Gorr, the God Butcher from killing Gods across the realms.  Along the way he teams up with the now King Valkyrie and Jane Foster wielding Mjolnir as the Mighty Thor.  While some of the comic scenes go on a bit longer than they probably should to still be funny, this is a fun ride.
Best Performance - Christian Bale as Gorr, the God Butcher It was great to see Natalie Portman (always great to see Portman in ANYTHING), and it was a nice cameo for the Guardians.  I like Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth is funny for the most part.  You also get a scene-stealing performance from Russell Crowe as Zeus.  But I got to give this to Christian Bale, who is performing almost like he’s in a different movie.  He gives the emotional weight and places Gorr in one of the better villains in the MCU.
Best Scene - Omnipotence City There are some touching Jane Foster scenes where you see her character’s struggle with cancer.  There is also an awesome monochromatic scene where our heroes chase down Gorr in the Shadow Realm.  But my favorite scene is probably on Omnipotence City and their interaction and ultimately fight with Zeus and the other Gods.  I know I said some of the comedic scenes in this movie go on longer than they probably should, but I could watch more of Omnipotence City.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Released November 11, 2022 the Meat Life Rating - 8/10
It was pretty hard for me to rate this film.  On the one side, it is a poignant and touching tribute to their fallen friend in Chadwick Boseman-T’Challa and a story about loss and how to process that while moving forward with life.  Those aspects were among the best in the MCU as a whole and probably some of the best moments of the year in cinema.  On the other hand, some things felt out of place - but in the larger MCU sense are necessary to propel the larger storyline outside of this movie.  The Everett Ross and Valentina portions of the film in particular feel largely out of place, especially since most of the storyline was between the nations of Wakanda and Talokan and the power struggle between Shuri and Namor.  I will say, standard MCU stuff aside, this is a great and moving film.  It is beautiful and hard to watch at the same time.  Very emotionally heavy and effective movie.  And stay for the mid-credits for probably the best credit scene that could have come from the MCU.  If we remove the Ross/Valentina stuff, this movie is probably closer to a 9.
Best Performance - Angela Bassett as Queen Ramonda There is a reason why Angela Bassett is honored with the MCU’s first Oscar acting nomination for Best Supporting Actress.  Bassett kills it.  The quality of the material behind dealing with loss and trying to help her daughter get through that same loss does help.  There are other great performances including Tenoch Huerta’s portrayal of Namor and Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther.  But Bassett’s performance takes the film to another level emotionally.
Best Scene - The Mid-Credit Scene There are a lot of great scenes from the film from the Okoye bridge fight, the talking scenes between Shuri and Namor, and anything Angela Bassett is in are all great.  But this movie is about loss and moving forward from that loss, and nothing is more poignant in this than the mid-credit scene.  Nakia reveals to Shuri that Nakia and T’Challa had a child before his untimely death, a child that they also named T’Challa.  The scene is so touching and had me weeping in the theater.  Kind of wish they just had this as the primary ending to the movie rather than a mid-credit scene, it’s that good.

things in wandavision episode 8 that made me uncontrollably sob: a list
wanda and pietro losing their parents
“but what is grief, if not love persevering”
“i can’t feel you”
Tumblr media
^ that
the fact that wanda is in such immense pain that she created a reality to escape to so she didn’t have to deal with the grief from losing everything that mattered to her

so what episode 8 told me was that Westview was run-down and depressing before Wanda came. She DIDN’T hurt/kill anyone OR steal Vision’s body, instead making a new one from her own powers. This also means that Billy and Tommy probably can’t exist out of the Hex
Im hearing that Wanda didn’t do anything wrong

I’ve seen some people criticize adding the flashback sitcom explanation in this episode saying it was like scrabbling to make the sitcom plot of previous episodes make sense after some people complaining that it didn’t...
But like this entire series was made before any of the episodes were released. They had that plan from the beginning, they weren’t putting it in last minute because people found it strange. If this was all released as one long movie, nobody would be saying that because the “plot holes” wouldn’t have taken multiple weeks to be explained.
