Hello Rainbowsky,
Is it true that someone really booked 26 screenings of One and Only. Or is it a rumour?
And if it’s true, 26 screenings mean it is dedicated to WYB’s 26th birthday.
So, WYB, Chongqing, very rich and anonymous identity does not it points to one person? => XZ
What do you think?
Hi Anon! 😊
Tumblr media
Fake, fan fiction, CPN.
It's true that there were such bookings made in Chongqing (GG's hometown, and where his family lives).
It's not proved who is behind the bookings, but the number is an interesting coincidence given that DD is turning 26 soon. We know that GG and DD often signal their birthdays this way.
And whoever it was bought all the expensive high end theaters where tickets are difficult to sell, and left the affordable ones for passersby, which was thoughtful - like a rabbit we all know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(source)
The same thing was done for Born to Fly. 30 screenings were bought out. A friend told me that a box office analyst even took note of it, saying that the film was doing better in Chongqing than anywhere else in the country. 😅
Other celebrities have been buying screenings - a long list of them, some of them including (source):
Kara Wai - Hu Jun - Wang Chuanjun - Victoria Song Qian - Yin Zheng - Wu Lei - Yu Shi - Ni Hongjie - Qiao Shan - Wang Shengnan - Meng Hetang - director Su Liang - Wang Yitai - Dong Sicheng - Jia Ling - Jia Bing - Liu Xiaoshi - Huang Yi
And there are likely more who've booked screenings, but they're all open about it, and post openly about their support for DD and their best wishes for the success of the film. And no one is booking a large number of screenings like this.
30 screenings, 26 screenings - this is an extravagant expense, and done anonymously. That points to GG AFAIAC. He doesn't do half measures. He drops bombs, as we all know. He's not subtle.
Yes, it's a gift but I think it's also a flex. He's showing that he supports DD in a big way, and will spare no expense.
Those who know, know.
DD said Leos love to be praised. This is definite praise. It's sweet to picture DD's smug spoiled smile when he finds out about things like this. He knows he's loved, and he knows that others know it too. That's something that would definitely please him.
Of course, this is total CPN. We have no way of verifying.

Summary of all mentions of members of Hong Lu's family in the game + comparison with the original book
Summary:
Mention of his “family” in general in the game
Mention of the family elders in the game + comparison with the original work
Mention of his grandmother in the game + comparison with the original work
Mention of his grandfather in the game + comparison with the original work
Mention of his father in the game + comparison with the original work
Mention of his siblings in the game + comparison with the original work
Mention of his brother (Jia Huan) in the game
I wanted to recap all the times Hong Lu talks about his family or a particular member of his family while at the same time comparing them to their version of the original novel by giving some info on the latter (assuming that Hong Lu = Jia Baoyu ). I excluded from this list the uncles and aunts by marriage as well as Baoyu's cousins for various reasons (too long otherwise, not mentioned...) but I will perhaps do a part 2 to talk about them.
Was also excluded, the entire branch which stems from Jia Yan (the brother of Jia Yuan (the father of Jia Daishan, the husband of Grandmother Jia)), a branch which remains important since it is this one who leads to the actual Head of the Ningguo Mansion (Jia Zhen) when the story takes place. But since, they are distant relatives/cousins of Jia Baoyu, that was taking me too far and so I had to remove them from this list. But I still wanted to mention it since it is an important branch of the family
The Jia family is mainly composed of 4 great families: the Jia Family, the Xue Family, the Wang Family and the Shi family in other words those who were born with the name Jia and those who joined the family by marriage / alliance / by being the brother / sister of one of the grooms… (born Xue or Wang or Shi).
There are also other families like the Xing or Lin family joining the Jia family but whose name appears (very) less often and which are also not considered as one of the great families of the novel.
This list of family members is made in relation to the place they occupy in relation to Jia Baoyu.

To tell the truth, I don't really know what the term "elders" is supposed to encompass in this context in the sense that, I don't know whether or not parents and/or uncles/aunts should be included in addition to the grandparents.
In my opinion the term "elders" refers to all the generations who are above the one who uses this term (in this case Hong Lu / Jia Baoyu) so I would tend to want to count the parents and uncles / aunts but I cannot say this with certainty.
I will therefore base myself on my interpretation so that it will allow me to talk about more characters of the novel but do not hesitate to let me know what this term encompasses!
1st generation:
Grand parents:
Jia Daishan:
Son of Jia Yuan
first Duke of Rong
husband of Grandmother Jia
father of Jia She, Jia Min and Jia Zheng
grandfather of the three first Spring Ladies (Jia Yuanchun, Jia Tanchun and Jia Yingchun), Jia Zhu, Baoyu, Daiyu, Jia Huan, Jia Lian
died before the beginning of the novel, reason why we don’t know much about him
Grandma Jia (the Dowager):
Daughter of the Marquis Shi of Jinling
Wife of Jia Daishan
Grandmother Jia is a generation above the oldest member of the Rongguo Mansion (Jia Jing)
Thus, members of the Jia family all defer to her
For further information, refer to the paragraph dedicated to her below
Great uncle(s):
Dowager’s brother:
We don't know much about the Dowager's brother
He is Grandmother Jia’s brother
He is the father of Shi Ding and Shi Xiangyun's Father
He is Shi Xiangyun’s grandfather
died before the beginning of the novel, reason why we don’t know much about him
2nd generation:
Parents:
Jia Zheng:
Jia Zheng is the second and youngest son of Jia Daishan and Grandmother Jia.
He has a wife, Lady Wang, and two concubines: Zhao (with whom he had two children) and Zhou
For further information, refer to the paragraph dedicated to him below
Lady Wang:
Daughter of one of the four most prominent families of Jinling (Wang)
Primary wife of Jia Zheng
Mother of Baoyu and Yuanchun
Because of her purported ill-health, she hands over the running of the household to her niece, Wang Xifeng
In the eyes of her servants, she appears as a statue of a lifeless Buddha.
Although generous, she is described as without will or conviction.
Lady Wang seems kind and caring but can be cruel and ruthless when her authority is questioned.
She shows excessive concern about her son Baoyu's romantic relationships and closely monitors his maids.
Lady Wang plays a role in the death of Baoyu's maid, Qingwen, due to her suspicion and cruelty toward maids she perceives as threats to her son's virtue.
Uncles:
Jia She:
Elder son of the Dowager
Big brother of Jia Zheng and Jia Min
Husband of Xing furen
He has 2 concubines: Yingchun’s mother and Jia Cong's mother
Father of Jia Lian, Jia Yingchun and Jia Cong
He inherited the title of Marquis Rong
He is treacherous and greedy, as well as seductive/woomanizer.
He feels jealous towards his younger brother, favored by their mother.
He was later stripped of his title and banished by the government.
Father of Wang Ren and Wang Xifeng:
Lady Wang’s brother
Also brother of Wang Ziteng and Wang Zisheng
Father of Wang Ren and Wang Xifeng:
Wang Ziteng:
Lady Wang’s brother
Also brother of Wang Xifeng’s father and Wang Zisheng
Wang Zisheng:
Lady Wang’s brother
Also brother of Wang Xifeng’s father and Wang Ziteng
Aunts:
Jia Min:
Daughter of Jia Daishan and Grandmother Jia
Sister of Jia She and Jia Zheng
Wife of Lin Ruhai
Mother of Lin Daiyu
Xue Yima also known as Aunt Xue:
Sister of Lady Wang
Sister of Wang Ziteng, Wang Zisheng and Wang Xifeng’s father
Mother to Xue Pan and Xue Baochai
She is generally kind and affable.
However, she struggles to control her rambunctious son.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
If Hong Lu is indeed the equivalent of Jia Baoyu in the world of limbus company, Hong Lu's grandmother should be the one known as Grandmother Jia, née Shi:
Grandmother Jia:
Also called Dowager Shi or simply the Dowager
She is the daughter of the Marquis Shi of Jinling
Grandmother Jia is a generation above the oldest member of the Rongguo Mansion (Jia Jing)
Main elder of the great family, she is the oldest and most respected authority of the Jia Clan
Of an enjoyable temperament, she does not intervene in the private lives of her children provided that they do not disturb her, even if they have become debauched or high rollers.
It was she who arranged for Daiyu, her only "outside" (i.e., maternal) grandchild, to come to the Rongguo Mansion
She spoils her grandson Baoyu whom she carries in adoration
Despite this, she does not approve of his love for Daiyu
She is the one who supports the marriage arranged by Sister Pheonix (Wang Xifeng) between Baoyu and Baochai
She will die at the ripe old age of 83
Maybe it's just me, but she seems to be one of the people if not the person who pays the most attention to Jia Baoyu's jade, reminding him to take care of it, asking him if he knows where it is his jade when he is not wearing it, paying attention to the stone...
IV/ Mention of his grandfather in the game + comparison with the original work
Detour Tales, Chapter 5.5, Yield my flesh to claim their bones, episode: 4
Abn. Logs, Pink shoes: lacking data
Hong Lu’s promo pre-limbus company release (yéyé" (爷爷) meaning "grandfather" or “grandpa”. It is an affectionate term used to refer to one's grandfather in Mandarin.)
Tumblr media
So we don’t really know which of his two grandfathers Hong Lu is referring to but knowing that in the novel only his paternal grandfather is mentioned and died before the novel begins, I think the "grandfather" Hong is talking about is Jia Daishan (and that he probably died in the world of Limbus Company too)
Jia Daishan:
Son of Jia Yuan
first Duke of Rong
husband of Grandmother Jia
father of Jia She, Jia Min and Jia Zheng
grandfather of the three first Spring Ladies (Jia Yuanchun, Jia Tanchun and Jia Yingchun), Jia Zhu, Baoyu, Daiyu, Jia Huan, Jia Lian
died before the beginning of the novel, reason why we don't know much about him
V/ Mention of his father in the game + comparison with the original work
LCB sinner, chatter#1
Tumblr media
If Hong Lu is indeed the equivalent of Jia Baoyu in the world of limbus company, Hong Lu's father should be Jia Zheng:
Jia Zheng:
He is the second and youngest son of Jia Daishan and Grandmother Jia.
He has a wife, Lady Wang, and two concubines: Zhao (with whom he had two children) and Zhou
Father of Jia Zhu (deceased), Jia Yuanchun, Jia Baoyu, Jia Tanchun and Jia Huan
Confucianism had a great influence on him: he is a Confucian scholar who tries to be an upright and decent person, he fulfills his duties of filial piety towards the Dowager, and wants to educate his children strictly
Afraid his one surviving heir will turn bad, he imposes strict rules on his son (Jia Baoyu), and uses occasional corporal punishment.
Jia Baoyu is afraid of him
He has the ambition to become a good civil servant
But he lacks experience and is easily deceived by others, which earns him a bad reputation.
VI/ Mention of his siblings in the game + comparison with the original work
Main story, Canto III, episode: 2
Detour Tales, Chapter 5.5, episode: 13
Abn. Logs, Pink shoes: lacking data
Tumblr media
If Hong Lu is indeed supposed to be the Jia Baoyu of the world of Limbus Company, then, if we refer to the novel The Dream of the Red Room, Hong Lu should, like Baoyu, have 4 siblings:
Jia Zhu:
First son of Jia Zheng and Lady Wang
Big brother of Jia Baoyu and Jia Yuanchun and half-brother of Jia Tanchun and Jia Huan since they share the same father.
In the original novel, Jia Zhu is already dead prior to the action of the novel, so we know very little about him.
He had a son (Jia Lan) with Li Wan
Jia Yuanchun:
First female family member of the quartet of "Springs", first daughter of Jia Zheng and Lady Wang
Big sister of Jia Baoyu and Jia Yuanchun and half-sister of Jia Tanchun and Jia Huan since they share the same father.
She is about 10 years older than Baoyu.
She was raised by her grandmother
As an older sister, she taught Baoyu to read and write when he was liitle like his mother would have done.
Originally one of the ladies-in-waiting in the imperial palace, Yuanchun is later promoted to the highest ranking of imperial concubine "Xiande”, having impressed the Emperor with her virtue and intellect.
Despite her prestigious position, Yuanchun feels imprisoned within the four walls of the imperial palace.
She died at the age of forty, following an illness, in total isolation.
Jia Tanchun:
Third female family member of the quartet of "Springs", second daughter of Jia Zheng and his concubine, concubine Zhao
Big sister of Jia Huan and younger half-sister of Jia Zhu, Jia Yuanchun and Jia Baoyu since they share the same father.
The fact that she is the daughter of a concubine is still such a burden that she often claims Lady Wang, Baoyu's mother, as her own
Tanchun is a very clever and capable person, as much as Sister Phoenix for comparison
But, as the proverb says, "he who comes last will have fewer opportunities than the others", and this is what happened to her, because when her family declined she had not done much and she was sent to a distant region following an arranged marriage
Jia Huan:
Third son of Jia Zheng and his concubine, concubine Zhao
Little brother of Jia Tanchun and younger half-brother of Jia Zhu, Jia Yuanchun and Jia Baoyu since they share the same father.
More info just below
VII/ Mention of his brother (Jia Huan) in the game
Main story, Canto I, episode: 30
Main story, Canto V, episode: 18 (there we don’t know if he is talking about Jia Huan or not but there are not many other options and from what we can deduce from Jia Huan’s behaviour (in game and in the book too) it’s not very out off character)
Tumblr media
Jia Huan:
Third male family member of the generation of the Jia household, son of Jia Zheng and his concubine, concubine Zhao
Little brother of Jia Tanchun and half-brother of Jia Zhu, Jia Yuanchun and Jia Baoyu since they share the same father.
He is described as ugly and clumsy
He and his mother are both reviled by the family, and he carries himself like a kicked dog.
He is very cunning but mediocre, he shows his malignant nature by spilling candle wax, intending to blind his half-brother Baoyu
That’s all! If I have forgotten any moments where Hong Lu talks about his family, don't hesitate to tell me and I will add it! Also, I tried to verify and proof-read all the info and everything should be correct but if I made a mistake feel free to point it out to me :)

Chinese Mythology Stories (1983) 中國神話故事-西遊記
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Director: Chen Lie Screenwriter: Yeung Wai-Man Starrring: Jin Chao-Chun / Chang Fu-Chien / Sun Jia-Lin / Yang Hsiung / Barry Chan / Wu Xue-Fen / Zeng Ya-Jun / Yeung Wai-Man / Wang De-Zhi / Chiang Kuang-Chao / Ko Hsiao-Pao Genre: Fantasy Country: Taiwan Language: Mandarin Date: 1983-05-31 Number of episodes: N/A Also known as: 中国神话故事 Type: Retelling
Summary:
Several folk legends from different dynasties are actually gathered together. Nezha, Jigong, Door God, Xu Xian, Bai Suzhen... Could it be that these characters are going to gather together to perform some kind of comedy?! Don't make blind guesses! They came together just to show some kind of "propaganda effect"; to promote the upcoming "Chinese Mythology Story"; these legendary characters will all bring out a touching Chinese mythology story. "Chinese Mythical Stories" is a unit theater that CTV will open at 1:00 pm on weekends. Currently, the recording of three unit stories of "Nezha", "Ji Gong" and "The Legend of White Snake" has been completed. It is scheduled to start on May 28 or Saturday. Launched on the 4th. Wang Weijiang went from the front to the back, and co-produced the "Chinese Mythology" unit theater with Wei Xin to realize an ideal, that is, to introduce various folk beliefs through the moving myths and stories circulated in our country's long history of thousands of years. In the creation of the protagonist's character, special emphasis is placed on his method of becoming an immortal and attaining enlightenment - inner cultivation and saving people and saving the world, in order to remind the audience that faith should not be turned into superstition. Such a theme has considerable social and educational significance. Wang Weijiang said that "Chinese Mythical Stories" is a social and educational program produced in the form of drama. It is quite difficult for the social education style and drama type to deeply move people's hearts; because this is equivalent to using the strengths of drama - the drama of twists and turns to make up for the shortcomings of social education - the rigid boring feeling; the "Chinese mythology story" The production is exploring such a new route. If successful, it will be a major breakthrough for TV programs. Judging from the production method of "Chinese Myth Stories", this "new line" that breaks the boundaries between drama and social education has great potential and great potential. The legendary mythical story, through DPE's latest TV effects machine, makes the picture show magical special effects, how fascinating it will be! Since it is a myth, it can perform special effects, and the scenes can be as magical and varied as possible.

no i’m sorry but dream of the red chamber makes me legitimately insane,,,,, like what do you MEAN she was a flower in her past life and he gave her water and she promised to pay him back with a lifetime of tears,,,, what do you mean ‘the beast of a thousand legs is a long time dying’,,,, what happened to qin keqing????? where did baoyu’s jade go when it disappeared . these two little girls were taken from their families to become actresses for rich families and fell in love with each other so so deeply and then one of them died and the other one burns money for her even though it’s forbidden on pain of beatings or death. wang xifeng is a functionally illiterate teenager who was suddenly put in charge of running the entire jia estate after marrying into the family, and she somehow manages despite that, and then eventually the whole thing comes crumbling down and she is the first one everyone blames. xiangling was kidnapped and and enslaved and abused but all she ever wanted was to write her poems, and then she dies in childbirth and her long-lost father goes to fetch her soul and lead her to the afterlife. they gaslit baoyu into marrying baochai when his grip on reality is already tenuous and diayu is literally on her deathbed... they didn’t even tell him when she died. yuanyang hangs herself from the rafters of her room right after dowager lady jia dies because she knows she’s lost any semblance of control over her own life with her mistress’ passing. ping’er loves xifeng so so deeply and sincerely. all the girls are going to be married away to men and families that could abuse or neglect or exploit them, and they don’t have any choice in the matter. and baoyu cries when he thinks about it because he loves them all so very much. daiyu would rather spend hours burying petals than watch them rot in the stream. after a childhood spent being mistreated by her uncle, xiangyun marries a good husband who she loves, and then loses him almost immediately. all the young people leave the garden eventually and it gets overgrown with weeds. qiaojie is sold by her uncle but saved by ping’er and granny liu and spirited away from the corruption and rot of the jia estate... maybe there’s hope for the children after all. baoyu and diayu love each other so deeply and know each other so intimately and inevitably that they never even try to put it into words, and even the reader is locked out from the bond they share. the stone just wants to experience the passions and tragedies of the mortal world!!! and cao xueqin loved and admired the women in his life so deeply that he wrote hongloumeng partly so that they would be remembered. like????????

Hils Watches Fairyland Lovers - Ep 2
Tumblr media
Aww it's my best boy Ji Xiaobing. I've never seen him in a period drama before. I almost didn't recognise him with the long hair.
Tumblr media
Oh no he's just woken up from a 100 year cryosleep to find out his best bro/boyfriend(?) is dead and he's crying. Not sure what it says about me that this angst is more enjoyable than the silliness of the previous episode
Tumblr media
That's the same building Lin Xia tried to jump off in the previous episode. Were they only allowed to film on the roof of one tall building?
Tumblr media
I love that he's not even trying to hide the truth from her. He's just 'yep you met a spirit and got brainwashed into nearly jumping off a roof'
Tumblr media
This is definitely not Bai Yu's actual voice. I'm fairly sure at least.
Tumblr media
Short person problems. I can relate.
Tumblr media
Oh! Well the angst didn't last long. Turns out his bro faked his death
Tumblr media
Ohhhh! So they're supposed to take it in turns to sleep for a hundred years but he Wang Jia didn't want to so pretended to be dead
Tumblr media
Ooh plot twist. Evil businessman isn't a spirit but apparently his assistant is.
Tumblr media
How old is she supposed to be??? How old is he supposed to be?????
Tumblr media
Okay is he a spirit or isn't he? I am very confused now
Tumblr media
Wow she is so much gender
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh my god you can't just ask someone what their gender is
Tumblr media
They are definitely female presenting in the present day. Love me some gender fluidity
Tumblr media
He's clearly into it
Tumblr media
Aww it was her obsession with him that corrupted the jade and made him like that
Tumblr media
Aww he sent her women's and men's clothes so she can choose how she wants to present herself
Tumblr media
I love that he's only sad because she said she'd only wear women's clothes when she's met someone she loves. He doesn't seem to mind that he's courting someone who dresses like a man.
Tumblr media
Gone to America and still dressing as a man. I love her.
Tumblr media
By 'open-minded' do you mean pansexual?
Tumblr media
I love these two just watching everything unfold like it's a drama while hiding under their umbrella of invisibility
Tumblr media
Wow this has gone very quickly from mostly comedy to mostly angst
Tumblr media
OOOH! That's why he's not a spirit! She brought him back to life using the jade
Okay, I enjoyed that episode way more than the first one. If the rest of it is like this I think it'll be good

Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) Masterpost
Tumblr media
Wang Chuan Feng Hua Lu (忘川风华录) is a Vocal synth (Vocaloid and SynthV) music project. It consists of songs themed around different figures throughout Chinese history. The project is a collaboration between different artists and creatives, with music and videos featuring prominent traditional Chinese elements. The project's title translates to "The Records of Magnificence of the Wangchuan" - In Chinese mythology, "Wangchuan" (or River of Forgetting) is a river in the Underworld that can rid one of their past life's memories, similar to the river Lethe.
A mobile game adaptation has also been developed by NetEast. Unfortunately, I haven't played it so I can't give much insight on it. However, I assume that its premise is similar to that of the idea behind the project as a whole: all these historical figures meeting each other in the Underworld after they died. Maybe.
You can find all the songs on Bilibili. The official Weibo can be found here. The game's website, which includes all characters appearing so far in the game, can be found here, and its Weibo can be found here.
(If you prefer YouTube, I've also put together a handy playlist. Please know that most of these videos are reposts though, so please watch the original Bilibili MVs if you can!)
This blog is where I will be posting everything I feel like I need to say about the songs in this project. A lot of it is lifted from my Twitter account but will be in much more detail. Note that I probably won't touch collab songs, or songs that don't focus solely on the project's own characters.
Disclaimer: I do not speak Chinese, nor am I an expert on Chinese history. Therefore, I cannot reliably translate the lyrics to these songs, nor my words should be taken as gospel. I am merely a nerd gushing about my hyperfixation.

Hi! i saw your thread on twitter about Chinese culture concerning danmei in spain. You mentioned that Chinese names often follow some sort of theme and usually have 1 or two characters per name, so I wanted to ask you if there was anything else to naming customs in China?
I’m trying to create a name for a character I have and I want it to be authentic as possible :,)) sorry if this is too much to ask!! <3
Hello! Hope you're having a lovely day!
There can be a lot of art in something as simple as a name in Chinese-- my knowledge is not exhaustive but I'm happy to talk about and share as much as I can!
Chinese names usually go by a 1 or 2 word surname, followed by a 1 or 2 word first name. Depending on the region, some minority groups may have names longer than that too (e.g. 迪丽热巴 迪力木拉提 Dilraba Dilmurat, 库都斯江·艾尼娃尔 Kudusjan Anivar) but we won’t talk about that.
Surnames:
Usually 1 or 2 characters long
The Top 20 most common single word Chinese surnames in mainland China (in order):
Wang, Li, Zhang, Liu, Chen, Yang, Huang, Sun, Zhao, Wu, Zhou, Xu, Ma, Zhu, Hu, Guo, He, Gao, Luo, Lin
The Top 7 most common multiple word Chinese surnames in mainland China (in order):
Ouyang, Shangguan, Huangfu, Linghu, Zhuge, Situ, Sima
Each surname has history behind it.
E.g. 王 Wang was actually the title used to refer to members of the royal family in ancient Chinese history. This includes calling the King "王" during the 3 kingdoms era, or calling a lord/prince "王爷" during the Qing dynasty for example. Therefore, the surname 王 was historically reserved for those in power and families of high social status.
E.g. two-word names potentially came from court titles
Naming customs include:
siblings having similar/matching names-- names of siblings or close relatives can be put together to achieve a deeper level of meaning. Sometimes even the names of family members through generations could be matching or similar, like with only 1 character difference
naming based on family symbols/motifs-- this refers to names associated with the town or birthplace, etc.
naming with particular meaning-- this is often derived from literature or poetry, the latter being a huge inspiration for names. Names can also describe the person's personality
Gendered names:
They do exist in Chinese. Certain characters with associated meanings may have gender connotations associated with them
It's all very stereotypical, but most commonly names with "feminine" words such as 美 (mei = beauty), 花 (hua = flower), 婷 (ting = gracefulness) are used for females, while "masculine" words like 力 (li = strength), 俊 (jun = handsome), 宏 (hong = grand) are used for males
Non-gendered/unisex names exist too. Words such as 明 (ming = bright),雨 (yu = rain),云 (yun = cloud),南 (nan = South),嘉 (jia = good, delightful) can sound unisex
Aside from this, also keep in mind:
The sound of the name plays a very significant role. A good name needs to flow when said aloud and have a nice ring to it.
A lot of names might sound "old fashioned" or "outdated"
Many Chinese words have the same pronunciation but different meanings, so it's important to make sure the name doesn't accidentally end up sounding like something it's not supposed to sound like e.g. 梅潜 (mei qian = pronounced the same as 没钱 which means no money)
I am currently writing a document detailing more cultural aspects including naming conventions, place names, customs and traditions, brief folklore and genres of Chinese fiction-- I go into a bit more detail in there. I'm gauging interest at the moment-- let me know if this would be of interest to you and I will endeavour to complete it sometime!!!
I hope this was helpful! Please feel free to ask me any more questions!

best cdramas I’ve watched since the last one of these posts in 2021 (also some not so good + some upcoming)
I’ve been too busy to make lists, so I’m leaving out every drama I dropped
Luoyang (watch on iQIYI VIP) adapted from the novel of the same title by Ma Bo Yong (马伯庸), starring Huang Xuan, Wang Yibo, and Song Qian. The Longest Day in Chang'an vibes, but like, lighter and more colorful in every sense of the word. So many excellent female characters. Moves at a good clip for 39 episodes without stuttering. The cast is out of this world. 9/10
The Longest Day in Chang'an (watch on Amazon Prime | watch on Viki) starring Lei Jia Yin and Yi Yang Qian Xi. Fckn masterpiece. The cinematography in this thing is a joy to behold. Visually stunning. Not a drama you can glance at occasionally and still catch the threads. Had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. 10/10
Sword Snow Stride (watch on WeTV VIP | watch on Viki) based on the xuanhuan novel The Snowy Path of the Heroic Blade by 烽火戏诸侯 starring Zhang Ruoyun and Hu Jun. I have a soft spot for Zhang Ruoyun so I was gonna watch this to the end even if it sucked. Luckily, it didn’t. Still, it’s sort of a run-of-the-mill adventure journey story, where the hero always wins against all odds. It does a good job filling that empty hole in your life that Joy of Life left behind. The cast is stellar, and the plot stable enough for enjoyment. 7/10
The Long Ballad (watch on Viki |  watch on YouTube) based on wuxia manhua by 夏达 starring Dilraba Dilmurat and Wu Lei. Dilraba Dilmurat is a fckn goddess. Not gonna lie, I watched this whole thing just for her. I’m not particularly crazy about Wu Lei as an actor, but he was amazing in this role. The plot meanders occasionally, and there are some episodes I’ve watched at 1.25 speed. Still, one of the better romances out there. 7/10
Marvelous Women (watch on Viki) starring Jiang Qinqin and Zhang Huiwen. This was glorious in every sense of the word. So many brilliant women. So many brainless men. In-depth study of duty, honor, loyalty and love. I laughed, I cried, I lay on the floor and stared at the ceiling. Beautiful story, exquisitely told. 10/10
The Theatre Stories (watch on iQIYI VIP) starring  Qin Kaixuan and Zhao Xiaotang. Fun, lighthearted joy of a story. The best comedy I’ve seen all year. Love it to fckn pieces. 9/10
Honorable Mentions
The Story of MingLan (watch on iQIYI VIP | watch on Viki | watch on YouTube) adapted from the novel of the same title by Guan Xin Ze Luan (关心则乱), starring Zhao Liying, Feng Shaofeng, and Zhu Yilong. Cao Cuifen is also in this, for those who fckn adore this woman as much as I do. First of all, Zhao Liying is magic on screen, regardless of the role. The romance in this doesn’t meander, even if the other story lines occasionally do. First two thirds were very enjoyable. Last third I could’ve done without. I believe I called this drama “the terrible, wonderful lives of women,” and I still hold to that. 6/10
Watched, but nothing to write home about
The Rebel Princess (watch on Amazon Prime | watch on Viki) adapted from the novel "Emperor's Conquest" (帝王业) by Mei Yu Zhe (寐语者) starring Zhang Ziyi and Zhou Yiwei. 5/10
The Legend of Condor Heroes (2017) (watch on iQIYI VIP) starring Li Yitong and Yang Xuwen. Meng Ziyi is also in this adaptation. 4/10
God of Lost Fantasy (watch on Amazon Prime | watch on Viki | watch on YouTube) adapted from the novel “Ancient Godly Monarch” by Jing Wu Hen starring Sheng Yilun and Wang Ziwen. 3/10
Legend of Zhen Huan (watch on Amazon Prime) starring Sun Li and Chen JianBin. 5/10
Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities (watch on Viki) adapted from the novel "Jing - Shuang Cheng" (镜·双城) by Cang Yue (沧月) starring Li Yifeng and Chen Yuqi. 4/10
Still waiting on:
Immortality - based on danmei novel The Husky and His White Cat Shizun by 肉包不吃肉 starring Chen Feiyu and Luo Yunxi
Winner Is King - based on the danmei novel Sha Po Lang by Priest starring Tan Jianci and Chen Zheyuan
Step By Step Lotus - based on historical novel Return to Ming Dynasty as Prince by 月关 starring Zhang Binbin and Luo Yunxi
Eternal Faith - based on danmei novel Heaven Official's Blessing by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu starring Zhai Xiaowen and Zhang Linghe
Thousand Autumns - based on danmei novel of the same name by Meng Xi Shi - cast unknown
Joy Of Life Season 2 - based on wuxia novel of the same name by 猫腻 starring Zhang Ruoyun and Li Qin
A League of Nobleman - based on danmei novel The Society of Four Leaves by Da Feng Gua Guo starring Song Weilong and Jing Boran
Flying Phoenix - based on danmei novel of the same name by 風弄 starring Dai Jingyao and Shu Yaxin
The Story of the Bat - based on danmei novel Bat by Feng Nong starring Mao Zijun and Zhang Yao
The Longest Promise - based on xianxia novel Zhu Yan by 沧月 starring Xiao Zhan, Ren Min, and Zhang Yunlong

Wang Jia Er / Wang Ka Yee (GOT7 / Solo) Ideal Partner Characteristics based on Tarot Reading
Hello and welcome!
I’m Kleo and I’m here to present some k-pop related tarot readings to you.
Disclaimer:
I would like to state that all these readings have a purely entertainment nature and their purpose is to bring some fun into my and hopefully yours lives. I have never ever met any of the idols / actors / celebrities in my readings, I don’t know them personally. Tarot reading isn’t an exact science and I can never guarantee any of it. Most of it is my intuition mixed with fantasy. Don’t take these readings seriously and don’t base any important decisions on tarot readings only, use your common sense.
If you wish to request a tarot reading, please read the pinned post on my profile first to see the instructions on how to request. I only do readings for idols / actors / celebrities of 18 years of age or older. Requests for readings including younger people will be automatically dismissed. If you feel uncomfortable with these tarot readings, do not engage in reading my posts. Thank you for understanding.

Wang Jia Er / Wang Ka Yee
Jackson (GOT7 / Solo)
Deck: The Dark Mansion Tarot + Heavenly Bodies
Spread: Ideal Partner
Body - 7 of Cups
Jackson’s perfect match is likely someone who is able to change themselves in order to adapt to their surroundings. Their own style can be completely different from the impression they give at work. They are likely to wear one personality in front of their family, a different one for their friends, another one for coworkers. Their wardrobe is a mixture of fashion styles and they are very good at hiding their true self which they only reveal to the ones they trust the most.
Heart - 8 of Pentacles
Jackson’s ideal partner is a hard working person at heart. They know there’s no gain without the pain and long hours. They are diligent, methodical, meticulous perfectionists and if possible, they prefer to learn their craft or needed skills on their own without someone lecturing them because they have their specific ways of memorising information.
Spirit - 7 of Pentacles
Jackson’s special person is likely someone who can appreciate multiple beliefs and spiritual systems. They have studied whatever interested them and took what they found helpful and incorporated those fragments into their life in order to gain peace of mind.
Soul - King of Pentacles
Jackson’s significant other is likely a deeply loyal and steady person when it comes to relationships. They maintain loyalty even to those who hurt them, although they will never let those people know. This person is likely calm and reliable, with their feet on the ground and with a practical mindset. They don’t wait for a knight in shining armour, they don’t believe in magic, they don’t blame faith for their failures. They are responsible and caring.
Time - 2 of Swords
Jackson is likely to fall in love with this person after finally taking a blindfold off of his eyes. They are likely in his life already, he only can’t see they are meant for him. He needs to be put in front of a serious choice to realise. He might face the fact that this person will leave his life for good if he can’t make that choice.
Place - 4 of Wands
If Jackson and his significant other actually get together and decide to share a home, it will be a happy and harmonious place for both of them. They are likely to make it their shelter, keep it very private, only invite the people closest to them from time to time. Family is suggested to children might come soon after starting living together.
Zodiac Sign - Cardinal (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn)

I wanted to finish another drawing during @polyshipweek (inspired by various prompts, including Cinnamon Roll Protection Squad from Nozle's ship dynamics meme), but it didn't get past the sketch stage. I'll still share it, together with some hcs (slightly nsfw and kinky ones included) for an AU in which these five got entangled with each other in more ways than just crime solving.
Tumblr media
Tang Fan:
Firmly believes that he is the littlest cinnamon roll of all cinnamon rolls and behaves accordingly. Would do anything for his friends. Now that he has more than one brat tamer at his disposal, it does not make him any less needy. The only one he is secretly afraid of is Ding Rong, knowledge that Wang Zhi is frequently using against him. With his dramatic antics he suffers the most prettily, so he is the most common to get wrecked (and makes it everyone's problem). Doesn't accept anything less than three bowls of noodles as aftercare.
Wang Zhi:
The actual cinnamon roll, but in denial (no one should dare to imply that towards him). It is not always easy to encompass the conflicting facts that he is both the youngest of the group and the 2nd most powerful man in the dynasty. Is making strides towards learning what he wants and deserves, but easily bristles when his inexperience becomes apparent. Has developed a habit of showing up at anyone's door at any time out of the blue and has no qualms to take up the most space in bed, even though he is by far the smallest. He has become the biggest flirt and the most touchy-feely once he learned how nice it is to have such a big, loving family.
Ding Rong:
Nobody really knows what he does most of the time. He is married to his job, aka Wang Zhi, a room full of meticulously sorted jars and 2 1/2 skeletons. Anyone who wants to get it on with Wang Zhi needs to get past Ding Rong's intense glare first. When they all get together, he is both the one who makes sure that everyone has all the oils, towels and implements they need, as well as the service top who is the last man standing at the end of a long night. He is also the kinkiest of the lot, his intricate knowledge of the human body combined with his sadistic tendencies make him light up as soon as any kind of edge play is mentioned. Might start to silently cry when held tightly for longer than 30 seconds.
Jia Kui:
After his retirement plan got forcefully cancelled, Jia Kui still doesn't quite know why he's here (tbh, same), but somehow, to his even greater bewilderment, everyone seems to love him (also same), even though he rarely talks and is mostly just there. He finds it kinda nice, though. Jia Kui gives the best of hugs and likes to join Sui Zhou in the kitchen, where they bond over cooking and military trauma.
Sui Zhou:
Similar to Jia Kui he isn't quite sure how he got roped into this new, big family life, but their community helps him to cope with his ptsd. It's hard to take his nightmares too seriously when burried amongst a heap of blissfully snooring men. He is appreciated by everyone for his cooking skills and his generosity, loyalty and his unobtrusive, pleasant company (as well as his great physique). He has learned that he does not mind sharing Tang Fan, in fact, it gives him fuzzy warm feels to know he is enjoying himself.
One would think that with five handsome guys there is a lot of action in the various bedrooms - however, given the stressful lives they lead, usually everyone just passes out as soon as they find a moment to lie down. With their youthful energy Tang Fan and Wang Zhi are the two most likely to initiate anything. The times when Sui Zhou and Jia Kui happen to get it on together are special highlights and have the others watching in awe (because clearly, they are a sight to behold!). In his efficiency Wang Zhi has tried to schedule regular sexy times, but after the third attempt failed due to some emergency or imperial affair getting in the way, he has now resolved to simply send out carriages to pull everyone away from whatever they are doing whenever he's in the mood. He has also now reserved a much bigger private suite at Huanyi Lou for such occasions.

Completed 'Surname' Polls
This is where I take several characters from different Chinese media (mostly cnovels and cdrama) and run a poll on which one is the 'best'. What does best mean? It's up to you! Whether you love them, are intrigued by their characters, love to hate them, or they're your '2 second blorbos whose personality you made up wholesale', these are all reasons for you to vote for your favs!
NB: the surnames are not exactly the same in all the cases, as often they will be a different character. I am, however, grouping them all together otherwise things got more complicated.
This post is for the polls which have finished running and can no longer be voted in (since I have realised that I'm quickly approaching the limit for hyperlinks in the original masterlist).
If you want to see the currently live polls, they can be found here
Finished polls: Cao/Wei/Guo/Chen/Ye/Qiao/Yu/Xue/Tang/Jiang/Su/Gao/Mei/Lin/Wu/Sun/Liu/Di/Zhang/Ying/Mo/Li/Song/Yan/Xiao/Pei/Hua/Xie/Mu/Qi/Shen/Lan/Fang/Luo /Huo/Xu/Wang/Ming/Fan/Yuan/Feng/Bai/Jin/Meng/Yun/Zhao/Wen/Zhou/Yang/Shang/Yue/Sheng/Ouyang/Lu/Ling/Hu/Gu/Ding
