What do you hope to see from him when you pay attention to him?

Faced with a public figure does not speak, should we choose to remain silent and just observe and speculate, or should we continue to build a bridge of dialogue at eye level and continue to ask questions?

This is a question Wang Yibo asked us.

We are happy to receive and answer - to come calmly without presuppositions, to follow only the intuitive guidance of the moment, to eliminate biased thoughts, and to see him as a "person" first.

This is not an article written just to fill the page. Perhaps what I can tell you truthfully is that every word in it was written at the filming site of this work, and was typed word by word at a distance of less than 20 meters away from the person I was working on - Wang Yibo. It seems that this is necessary to ensure the immediacy and time-limited nature of this creation.

It is full of questions that may not be asked even if they sit down and face to face. Perhaps it is precisely because there is no need for conclusive or chaotic answers that these questions become more reckless, direct and useless.

In the end, not only did the answer no longer matter, but it became increasingly unclear who the question was addressed to.

Wang Yibo: What you see is what you get

In a huge room surrounded by cement, there are two small temporary spaces surrounded by black cloth: the larger one is a shooting room, and the other smaller one is a space where people can watch movies and rest at any time. There were some white folding chairs inside, which were only occasionally empty throughout the cover shoot.

For more than four hours, the only thing that never stopped here was the music - some of which were from the editor's private playlist, and some of which were specially requested by Wang Yibo. They may be psychedelic, light, noisy, or strange, difficult to classify and describe, but no matter what the style and rhythm of the music are, they are all consistent and uninterrupted.

Wang Yibo just kept his head down and said nothing, even sternly smiling, and immersed himself in doing what everyone who came to him wanted him to do. Are all similar jobs the same? Does every day of his life look exactly like the same day?

The music was so loud that people could jump inside. He remained silent, without saying a word. There was nothing but silence.

He squatted down, covering his face with his hands, and then his head. His hands messed up his hair.

He half-knelt until he gradually fell to the ground. He curled up into a ball. He looked up. He bent over and simply lay flat on the ground, one leg bent, the other leg also bent, and his hands spread out and stretched forward. He fell directly to the ground. He closed his eyes and rubbed his hands on the white floor paper.

He said nothing, nothing but silence. Where is he lying?

I suddenly thought of his name being screamed out by the crowd in that small southern town more than a thousand miles away half a month ago, and the moment of silence when the lights went out in theaters one after another in contrast to the noise. , he sat down in the seat that belonged to him for a short period of time, and could occasionally get a moment of calm and peaceful listening time in the dark.

What shape and color is the peace he needs? Does he need peace?

The stylist used a tool to curl the bangs on the wig to make them fly a little more, then sprayed them with moisture, pulled them up, and sprayed them with hairspray to make them look messy and branched. He closed his eyes and let it all happen. That's not his hair. What does that lock of hair have to do with him?

A group of people squatted there, surrounding him in the center. The umbrella-shaped light illuminated him, and all he could hear was the snapping of the shutter and the blinking of the flash at the same frequency. It was as if a group of people had discovered some rare plants in the mountains and were sampling them very quietly and carefully. He sat there, occupying only the size of a corner.

Is this a rare moment of relaxation for him? "Relaxation" - it's just our guess. How can one person experience what he is feeling moment by moment for another person? Whether it is one-way or two-way, how easy is it to "understand" between people?

He stood up again, covering his head with his hands, as if he had just hit something, or as if the fight had just ended.

He tilted his head back slightly and took a deep breath. Was it exhaustion? Or some other feeling?

The staff passed by and sighed softly: "The shooting was too intense!"

Looking back, Wang Yibo was curled up in a ball and lying on the ground again. The photographer asked his assistant for a tissue, and he caught himself sweating profusely.

Wang Yibo was still lying on the ground, his body stretched further.

Reputation, what is it?

Is there anything else that can rival the vanity that comes with being in the spotlight?

If he were willing to give one thing in exchange for everything he has now, what would his answer be? What would your answer be?

Will prosperity last forever?

The music has changed. Clothes changed. His body also seemed to be suddenly injected with a strength that would not be easily suppressed. Wearing a white vest, jeans, and chewing gum, Wang Yibo smiled, danced involuntarily to the music, and sang along, his voice getting louder and louder. The chorus was repeated once, twice, three times, four times...

"I know why you wanna hate me!"

He jumped up. His long arms and legs were swinging in the air.

What kind of opportunities and luck are needed to eliminate other people’s prejudices against you or your own prejudices against others? Is this something that can be controlled by just relying on the rise and fall of one's own ideas?

The next picture is the cover picture. Everyone is working hard to get as high a score as possible. His silence then became deeper.

Someone was saying, "Let's not act like a cover photo shoot... just be normal." So everyone laughed together, trying to relieve some of the pressure and tension, but he remained silent.

What are we creating?

He was leaning on the sofa, looking lazily at the camera, suddenly closing his eyes and leaning on the back of the sofa. How can we know what he is thinking at this time? Does he really enjoy this? A question that doesn't expect an answer at all. Who am I talking to? Who am I asking? A tree, a piece of cream cake, a chair, a bolt of lightning?

On this blank screen, a new face and a new piece of clothing appear every month. What does he, who occupies the center of the screen, think about such rapid changes? Is there any panic? If not, then where is his panic? Does he think his panic has merit? Why do so many things have to be assigned so-called "value"? Who stipulates that people must prepare for a rainy day? Can't we make a decision after it rains? So what if it rains and it’s too late to make a decision? It's nothing more than getting soaked all over. It will be fine if the sun comes out the next day to dry it off.

Things seem to be getting a little more difficult.

"We have to get this cover picture out..."

"How about everyone disperse and stop crowding around him."

It's so hot in the room.

What else could he do? He couldn't go anywhere but stay where he was. Doesn't he want so many people surrounding him? Is he afraid of crowds? Didn't he live for the crowds and the attention of everyone? What does he want to live for? What do you hope to see from him when you pay attention to him?

If a little bit of the world is enough for him, how big is that "little bit"? What are the essentials?

There was a burst of cheers and applause, and everyone was very excited. He suddenly raised his arms in the slightly depressed atmosphere, and wow, the photo was finally "available".

This might seem like a stupid question, but it's been bugging me and this seemed like the best place to ask. How hot was it on the Untamed set? I'm just asking because Xiao Zhan alway seems to be holding a fan but the others only sometimes do. Is it all the dark layers he's in, do you think?

hi! From what I read about the shooting, it was VERY hot (I think it was more than 30'C - maybe until 40`C). we should not be deceived about clothes with long sleeves - in China, they protect the skin from sunburn, besides, there is a great risk of getting badly burned in the sun. you've seen how often they walked under umbrellas! I've seen many actors have hand fans in bts- not just Zhan. (for example- Wang Zhuocheng, Xuan Lu and and her bad hubby lol). from various rumors from the bts* (no one can say with certainty that this is true, not fiction)- I got the impression that Zhan generally sweats a lot in the heat and therefore uses special body cosmetics for cooling (except deodorants, I mean). besides, black clothes, you're right!!! we remember that Yibo often wore shorts under his robe instead of long pants, probably from the heat. I don`t know how they experienced large temperature changes - after all, in the mountains and in caves, (as well as the water in the cold spring) were very cold. the heat is also indicated by the fact with what pleasure guys lift up their long skirts during filming breaks lol

Most Underrated Fic: it’s hard to say if they’re underrated because the fandom is so small, but probably my most recent MCTNA fic (can’t hold my heart hostage) it is short and I say it’s a PWP but the porn is not really the point here. What this fic is is a deep dive into Nam Seon-ho’s insecurities and abandonment issues and the fact that these have not magically disappeared just because he has Hwi in his life again.

I've actually been wondering/maybe obsessing about this #theasexuallife and was wondering if you had any recommended reading on that? Also obligatory Untamed question, what do you think of the scene where LWJ puts down his umbrella and puts his face to the rain? ~A long time lurker who only discovered CQL from looking up Classical Chinese on tumblr and loving your blog that much

(that is such a chaotic-academic way of getting into CQL and you are so valid for it, anon)

A gifset went by not too long ago, beneath which I tried (and mostly failed) to get my thoughts and feelings about various umbrella scenes in CQL out in words. The thing is, from a production standpoint, rain scenes are more work-intensive for logistical reasons (rain towers, rain curtains, controlling levels of costume/wig dryness, water-proofing cameras and camera equipment, make-up reapplication between takes, etc), so I’m generally inclined to read the setting of particular scenes in the rain as deliberately significant from a symbolic/narrative perspective since the directors went to such trouble to get a rain scene in the first place.

A list of rain scenes off the top of my head in the show:

I don’t think I can offer a Single Coherent Rain Theory, but here’s a wild stab at a Unifying Umbrella Theory:

I’ve seen interviews with the CQL cast members that reference the Qiongqi Dao rain scene--apparently, Xiao Zhan, Meng Ziyi, and Yu Bin all spent the previous day being soaked and miserable, and when Wang Yibo was due to show up the next day, they were all excited (Wang Yibo included) for him to come share the sogginess. 

And then the next day, the directors looked at each other and agreed that “the character of Lan Wangji couldn’t get wet,” which is how we get that lovely shot of Lan Wangji carrying a positively luminous umbrella. 

(Xiao Zhan, reportedly, was not amused)

Lan Wangji, as a character, is one that exists slightly above and beyond all the others--he has an otherworldly quality, a superhuman aura, an untouchable presence. He walks through battlefields wearing white and remains unstained. His sword is named for his virtue: 避尘 Bichen, “to avoid worldly dust.”

And then there’s the confrontation at Qiongqi Dao, and at the end of it, after Wei Wuxian has already gone, Lan Wangji lets the umbrella fall from his fingertips and turns his face up to the rain.

In Wen Qing’s character song, we see the usage of 风雨 fengyu / “wind and rain” as a figurative reference to the worldly conflicts of the show; to a certain extent, rain can take on a similar metaphorical valence as 尘 chen / “dust,” which accumulates on people as they become more and more tangled in human affairs. As a result, Lan Wangji deliberately setting aside the umbrella, letting himself become soaked by the rain, becomes a wordless statement, a symbolic manifesto.

(If Wei Ying will be drenched by the rain, then he will too--)

When Jiang Cheng tears through the doors of Guanyin Temple in episode 47, we get this absolutely stunning shot:

This umbrella is the one that most closely evokes the one Lan Wangji carries in episode 27--it has the same white-paper, ink-splash aesthetic except this time, there is blood running in streaks and dribbles down its formerly-unstained surface. 

And Jiang Cheng ignores it. Jiang Cheng walks through the rain, letting it soak into his fine robes.

Because what is an umbrella? An accessory, a tool--most importantly, I should think, it is a shield. A buffer, a barrier between yourself and the rain, between the conflicts and worldly dust of a petty mortal world and the spiritual self, capable of impartiality and transcendence.

And Jiang Cheng has been mired in this vicious, bloody world since the fall of Lotus Pier over sixteen years ago. Jiang Cheng has no more need of an umbrella, of shielding--he waded into the dirty, gory mess of battlefields sixteen years ago and never emerged (there once was a war, and in many ways, Jiang Cheng is still fighting it). He has never had the luxury of remaining aloof, untouched, unstained; Jiang Cheng has had his hands full since he was nineteen and a new sect leader. With a sword in one hand and a whip in another, he doesn’t have the time or space for the luxury of an umbrella.

There is so much contrast and resonance between these two moments, calling back to each other across twenty episodes. Two of the most important people in Wei Wuxian’s life must cross through a storm to get to him. In episode 27, Lan Wangji doesn’t quite get there in time, and it’s not until episode 42 (fleeing Jinlintai, in the rain) that Lan Wangji gets to be as thoroughly soaked as Wei Wuxian is, that the two of them are truly in it together.

In episode 47, well, Jiang Cheng has always been there--from the three of them in episode 16, breaking the news of the fall of Lotus Pier to Jiang Yanli in the pouring rain, somewhere in a forgotten forest, to the reveal in episode 50 that it had been Jiang Cheng who had distracted those Wen soldiers all those years ago in the rain. Jiang Cheng has been there from the beginning, without umbrella or shield.

sorry to ask, but i’ve tried to read up on the wajijiwa incidents, but i’m still a bit uncertain about some parts. i know he’s currently under his own studio, but is he still connected to the last agency due to contracts or is he free of them as of now? if you know? sorry to bother!

Hi there! That’s a pretty tough question you’re asking me hahaha...

First of all, you have to understand that some things are kept secret in the C-ent industry. Not all studios will be declared immediately, contracts can also be signed and terminated secretly. Often big scandals about contracts are released in the news either by accident or on purpose, to create popular opinion in favor of one side or the other. 

For example, Wajijiwa held a couple of idol selection shows throughout the years, and despite the fact that they only officially declared that they would sign the winner with them, in reality they signed all top 9 candidates of the last season of Ming Ri Zhi Zi. It was the same with their previous idol selection shows. There’s a whole business around signing up idols and then earn money on the contract terms when they realize they got tricked and want to quit.

Another example, for the longest time I thought that Wang Yibo didn’t have his own studio, then it turns out that actually he just never declared it publicly. Someone dug up a company called Shanghai something-I-forgot-the-details and its boss was indeed himself. Of course, his YueHua mother company could be a major stockholder, since they still frequently post about Wang Yibo on their official weibo account. It all depends on what kind of contract he signed with Yue Hua entertainment, and what kind of terms they agreed in the end when he got his own studio. Another of UNIQ’s group members, Li WenHan, also has his own secret studio under the name of Shanghai something-something. These kinds of weird names are normal for studios, Xiao Zhan’s studio is under the name of Xia Men something-something (yes I’m very bad at remembering these...)

But let’s not dwell too much on why they do this, I’m not in the business and I’m a bit afraid of what I could find if I dig too deep. Either way, even if they have their own studio, we have no idea of the exact terms of their contracts.

Let’s get back to Xiao Zhan himself. I know a lot of fans are curious (myself included) over his exact contract terms and how he’s doing in the industry. Up till now, the only things that I’ve found any tangible proof on is what I’ve already posted in the background section of the blog. 

By 2018, Xiao Zhan’s role as BeiTang MoRan earned him more fans and his popularity increased, which led to his Doki! Popularity award of 2018. At the beginning of 2019, X-nine disbanded all but in name. Four of its members went on to participate in another idol selection show, the others chose to focus more on shooting movies or TV shows.

XZ workload increased but he was still operating solo with no manager. Some brands approached XZ for collaborations and were refused by the company Wajijiwa, possibly to focus more resources into promoting their younger artists. Many fans caught him going to variety shows and events alone, getting his events canceled without notice. It was unclear why exactly Wjjw suddenly treated him this way.

The above was confirmed by various old fans and an old post in the Secret Garden (yes that part IS coming up), where Xiao Zhan posted a drawing of a little girl standing with an umbrella under the rain (too long to dig up that picture, might add it later when I find it in my albums some other day) after his event was canceled.

From January 2019 to June 2019, the situation got bad enough that the company stopped all promotion of his activities. Wjjw tried to block all potential sponsors from reaching him, even sending lawyer’s notices to the ones who already signed with XZ before. 

This part was confirmed by one of Olay’s executives during a livestream in March, when his haters started spamming the broadcast comment section with curses. This executive basically confirmed that there had been some problems with his endorsements and Xiao Zhan came to him in person to apologize for it. 

XZ’s booming popularity with the success of The Untamed gave him more say within the company. He successfully established his own studio on September 28th 2019. 

Later on, it was revealed that XZ took legal action in May 2019, a month before The Untamed was released, possibly in order to put pressure on Wjjw for the drama to be aired in time for summer vacation. 

The lawsuit against Wajijiwa was withdrawn in October 2019, and the file was leaked onto the web around December 2019 (if I remember correctly). His antis are trying to blur truth by saying that he withdrew the lawsuit against one of the lead antis because she threatened to kill herself on a livestream. That is entirely false. Below are the screenshots of the news that day.

Of course rumors will fly around on how his contracts are all over the place, music production with Wajijiwa, acting contracts with Xin Li and what not. However, none of these claims have any tangible proof. 

Xin Li’s officials declared during a press conference in March that they do not have a long term contract with him. 

Wajijiwa never posted anything on Xiao Zhan after his last birthday in October 2019. He was also not present at Wjjw’s end of year party. 

Every official announcement went through XZ studio since its establishment in late September 2019.

EDIT 2020-05-18: Wajijiwa's last post on Xiao Zhan was in December, my bad, I completely forgot this last post. 🙄 Still doesn't change the fact that they haven't posted anything or said anything to defend Xiao Zhan during these past few months.

As for whether XZ really cut ties with Wajijiwa or not... It’s really hard to say, according to X-Nine’s original contract, he still has 6-7 years left. I really don’t think he is capable of paying the rest of the term price. The fact that he withdrew that lawsuit shows that they probably settled out of court on terms that will remain unknown to you and me. He barely got famous for half a year, and only signed on a couple of sponsors for a few months. He’s really not as rich as people think. 

And even if he is indeed free of his contract with Wjjw, he is still burdened with a lot of haters and antis right now. We can only support him and hope for the best.

This is my first time signing up for Yuletide, though I’ve been reading Yuletide fic for 14-15 years and it’s one of my favorite yearly traditions. I love many tropes. Tropes! Bed-sharing. Sharing an umbrella. WASHING EACH OTHER’S HAIR? Confessions where they are having an argument and then one of them yells “Because I love you!” 

I love situations where characters are forced to spend time in close proximity and find themselves with feelings.

I love fakeness: fake dating, fake marriage, arranged marriage, marriage of convenience, fake lust induced by sex pollen or heats, aliens make them have sex, whatever. 

I’d prefer story/romance/build-up to PWP but you are welcome to write porn

Tian Guan Ci Fu

Requested characters: He Xuan, Shi Qingxuan

Note: If you don’t want to write those two, I would be happy with Hualian! There are other pairings I like as well, like Fengqing. I requested these two because they are the ones I want the most, but I like almost all of the characters in TGCF so if you want to write me something that sells me on your pet pairing, go for it. Caveat is that I don’t like Qi Rong (sorry cousin)—he makes me anxious, haha.

Why I like the canon: Tian Guan Ci Fu is my favorite of MXTX’s novels, which took over my life this summer. What I love about it is the gods/mythology angle. The different story arcs remind me of reading myths about gods going out on adventures—I love folklore and myths! I love Xie Lian, I respect him so much, and I love Hua Cheng. I love how dark the story gets and I love that I could read it while being relatively assured of a happy ending. But with MXTX, you only ever get that happy ending for the main pair, hence why I requested my side pair.

Why I like these characters: I was in love with these two when He Xuan was pretending to be a grouchy Earth Master who reluctantly goes along with whatever Shi Qingxuan wants. When it turned out to be ABOUT REVENGE and they have FATES WHICH ARE ENTANGLED TOGETHER, I promptly lost my mind. I like the contrast in personalities.

I love Shi Qingxuan as a happy gossip god who is friends with everyone and yet also still pretty good at his job (unlike a lot of the gods around). I like his struggle with realizing he wasn’t meant to be a god and I honestly like where he ends up at the end of the novel—but personally I’d like it better if he re-qualified as a god, haha. I love his sex switching and you are welcome to play with that, though I would prefer if it weren’t a straightforward switch where he (she) settles as a woman. With He Xuan… I love that he’s on this dark completely-justified vengeance quest but he is also kind of a mess? How in debt is he to Hua Cheng? Has he totally neglected his ghostly duties to play Earth Master in heaven? How did he feel starting to be friends with SQX when he’s still planning on ruining his life?

What I would like for these two is something between pure fluff / all the issues are solved / “decapitated brother who?” and angst. I think they mirror Hualian in a lot of ways and I wish they had a chance together!

Prompts:

Them meeting again post-canon: He Xuan not knowing what to do with his (after)life now that he’s got his revenge and not being totally sure what’s keeping him around now that his business is over. SQX living his happy beggar life and HX not sure how he’s still so energetic.

A canon divergent AU where He Xuan doesn’t pull off his revenge plot ? Instead something else happens?

A soulmate AU would work well for these two IMO

Modern AU where HX is infiltrating the company that destroyed his family business and falls in love with the heir to the company president

SQX reascending to godhood as a beggar god and HX suspecting he will come for him in revenge but he just wants to be friends again

The Untamed (RPF)

Requested characters: Wang Yibo, Xiao Zhan

Why I like the canon: Uh, it took over my stupid life this summer. I haven’t liked an idol in years. I have frequently said I don’t like RPF because the canon is too diffuse to keep up with! And yet look at my twitter. I’m living in a hell of my own making.

Anyway, I got into the RPF side for The Untamed initially because the fictional canon here was very overloaded with its status as an adaptation of a novel where the characters are already together and where there aren’t many points for a writer to jump in and add to it. So I got more interested in the actors’ dynamic particularly because it’s different from Wangxian—WYB is a gremlin! Xiao Zhan is the serious professional one! And then I fell in love with them and now this is my life.

Why I like these characters: I just love their stupid handsome faces, I can’t help it. Don’t look at me. I am more of a Xiao Zhan fan but I want to be Wang Yibo’s best friend and bully him.

With Xiao Zhan, I love his smile and I love that he can write a whole essay on Wei Wuxian’s character and I love that he was a regular person who worked in an office before deciding to join one of wjjw’s basically-a-scam idol raising shows and then accidentally becoming the most famous man in China. He’s so professional and serious in interviews and it’s a great contrast to how we see him goofing around with WYB and the others on set.

With Wang Yibo, I like that he’s a wild boy who will run off to race motorcycles at any minute. I would like to shove him a little bit, in an affectionate manner. I love that he’s always looking at XZ and smiling and doesn’t seem to care if anyone notices.

Fooling around on set leads to love? The most basic of basic  

AUs with different settings/meetings—maybe XZ is still a designer and his company ends up working with WYB (who is still an idol)? Or WYB is a pro motorcycle racer and XZ is a sports photographer?

Note: There are other CQL/MDZS pairings I like, namely Jiang Cheng/Nie Huaisang. I also like the junior trio (as OT3 or as various twosomes.) Also, one night I read a Jiang Cheng/Lan Sizhui fic and suddenly I got all these ideas for inappropriate uncle pairings JC/LSZ and LXC/JL. If any of that speaks to your heart instead, go wild.

Why I like the canon: So obviously I read the novel and plunged into this MXTX abyss for 100 years. With this adaptation, there are a few things I don’t like versus the novel but I’m happy to ignore them because I love what they did with the visuals and music and the acting choices. Some of the changes I also do love—I love how WWX seems to be so much more into LWJ from the beginning! I love seeing them goof around, I love drunk!WYB in the drama.

I also don’t like established relationship fic for the most part, so the censorship in this adaptation means I have more to play with in fanfic!

Why I like the characters: They invented love!!! They did. I particularly like them both as kind of messes… It’s easy to forget with how great Hanguang-jun is but he’s also bad at expressing himself and it gets him into trouble. Then you have WWX the deviant genius troublemaker with a heart of gold (even when he doesn’t have his golden core). They’re immature kids who can’t figure their shit out before things get serious and then 16 years later, they are emotionally stunted 30-somethings and (tbh) I feel that. These two are meant for each other and meant to wander the country following the chaos and getting into adventures together while fucking a lot.

Prompts:

How do Wangxian get together in this universe? Was it as teens? During the war? Did they split up? Did LWJ give in to temptation earlier than in the novel? When did WWX realize his feelings?

Fix-it for the ending where they separate!! Duh! Does anyone think them being apart is going to last?

Star Trek AU with the Lans as Vulcans

Uh, I really like A/B/O fic for these two.

Nirvana in Fire (TV)

Note: I also love Lin Chen so if you want to write some MCS/LC or LC/Fei Liu or LC/MCS/JINGYAN OT3??? go for it. I am also a Nihuang/Xia Dong shipper so if you want to put that in… somehow… my gay little heart would be happy. I also like Nihuang/MCS/XJY or MNH/MCS + MCS/XJY but I’d like the focus on the men in that case! 

Why I like the canon: I watched this show because someone recommended this show to me as, like, Chinese Game of Thrones but good. I think it’s genuinely one of the best TV shows I’ve ever seen. I love plots and revenge and good people doing bad things for justice. Even the ending is good for me though obviously it left me unsatisfied on several points.

Why I like the characters: I am deeply into sickly doomed genius MCS and every time he got even more deeply ill, I fell deeper in love. Every time he coughs up blood, my heart would race. I love his terrible schemes and stupid self-sacrificing choices. I find watching this show very soothing because I knew he would always come out on top in his schemes. I trust him. I love handsome clueless Jingyan and how he’s just so good (it’s terrible.) I love his mom and how much he cares for her. I love him but he is useless, he needs his Xiao Shu and I need fanfic to restore him to him.

Note: So my limited research on this says that male/male sex practices were accepted and well-known in this time period in history, so I really don’t want them thinking “oh no what are these weird gay feelings.” There are other barriers to them being together, like a ruler or official being overly attached to one person was considered very bad. I am also a big supporter of the socially-approved polygamy of this time period, so I don’t need Jingyan to refuse to sleep with his wife or something out of loyalty to MCS—he has to do it! Or all their plans are ruined! And he can enjoy spending time with her or the concubines without affecting his feelings for MCS—you could explore that complexity in fic if you like.

Why I like the canon: I love this film but I also find it to be… not enough? I wanted more character development, I wanted more plot, I wanted the goddamn Burnish to stay burning things. So I requested it because I want more! Please help me.

Why I like the characters: I love freedom fighter idealist Lio who will kick everyone’s ass for what is right. I love idiot idealist Galo who wants to fight all fires and learns to love exactly one fire. I think now that they aren’t saving the world by punching global warming, they should have a nice romance. I also like they points where they clash in the film, so I’d love to see them adjusting to “normal life” and having to deal with not having the crisis to make sure they get along.

AU where the Burnish are still a thing but it’s not a big crisis/battle and they just have normal jobs and there are integration programs and Lio is an angry Burnish teen and Galo volunteers at a community center helping Burnish control their powers. This is the one request where I’d probably enjoy gen fic with lots of worldbuilding.

While I can’t fault people for noticing and i agree that it sets the scene for interesting edits in the future, I feel that this kind of topic is prone to being misunderstood and may be used by Antis. These are two different stories. Shiying is not WWX. The way GG acts as Shiying is different from WWX. I would hate for passerby to have the impression that GG can only act a certain way in costume dramas.

What’s more interesting is that the umbrella is in the bucket with water. Is it implying the bathing scene of Shiying? And it happened that WYB allegedly went to visit the set again at that time, because in the fake material room on 6.27, LRLG said very clearly, "Go back to Mr. Wang to pack things" and the conversation between the two also said "I'll be with you when it rains" Have a meal"! In yesterday’s Weibo Movie Night event, Web was seen leaving the area after he was done with his bit. I guess he really just wanted to have some rest and make use of his time in Beijing. He was also wearing the bone necklace. It’s such a contrast, from the man in stylish suits to the “normal” Yibo. 🤍 From the guy who wore an expensive brooch to an inexpensive bone necklace— but we all know which one is more important to him.

What people noticed tho is the creases on his shirt. We already have an existing CPN about who folded what clothes based on this. The speculation is, GG is the one who prepared the clothes. Or he already bought it before, folded it, then gave it to Bobo at some point when he came back to use. Because if you noticed, this style is not Bobo’s usual. It’s either shirts or hoodies. The one we see wearing this type of clothing is usually XZ.

Buying each other clothes is completely normal to them 💕

• We noticed in BAH behind the scenes that Bobo had a mosquito repellant patch. The one we first saw who had that was GG back in DC shooting. Is this another “advise” from GG for Web to use? Or was GG there? ( FYI, the fandom back in 2020, always had a strong argument that GG visited the BAH set )

• Back in SDC 3, there was a scene that Jackson Wang and Lay were talking about the food being served during filming. Then Web said the food in his crew was good. People thought he was talking about BAH because it was the drama he was working on alongside SDC 3. He said :

The box lunch of our crew is really good.There will be abalone in it. Shrimp and beef brisket. I can take a picture for you next time. Really, our crew's meal was pretty good.

Now BAH team released a BTS video that shows the food and the staff commented that it’s important to include things that will make it healthy.

Let’s focus on the greens, which later on we found on XZ’s CNY post. The same celebration we CPN that Web was a part of. So the interpretation is, Web sent a photo of his food with that and maybe he liked it so GG remembered. Plus GG always want Web to eat well so it’s a no brainer.

I am not a master of Chinese cuisine but BXGs are saying it was uncommon for GG to prepare it for CNY considering where he came from and the type of food they prepare. Well, among the other things that are out of place in his CNY spread. 😂

• During the red carpet, Web had to sign his name in that big ass backdrop. One BXG noticed that he signed it very close fang chencheng’s. Why you ask? That person signed it cheng x2 and when you look at it, it resembles an XZ = XIAO ZHAN.

• Bobo was fiddling with his ring 🙃 and well, it’s similar to GG’s action. just please show us a glimpse of your couple ring please lol

Before I end this I just also wanna lightly remind people about the bone necklace. Since it’s becoming prominent again and people are using it as a proof of stability. I understand that. Yes. However, it is still CPN. It is still speculation. Like all the other necklaces that came before it, we don’t have solid proof, and by solid i mean WYB saying where it came from himself. Just enjoy it. Don’t think too much. As with all things in this fandom — try and not be too nervous if there is no candy. Candies are not a requirement. XZ/WYB’s job is not to feed us candy. We just notice them because we pay attention.

Don’t pin your belief in them with one single piece of CPN. The important thing is always to protect them and not cause them trouble because of our need for proof. People think since international fans are outside of Weibo then we can do whatever the hell we want. No. I personally think we should maintain the same caution and not give a bad rep to our fellow turtles as well as XZ/WYB. Take it easy. Enjoy the content and don’t make everything candy. There is a time and place for it and don’t let it get in the way of treating the boys as real people. 💕

BoXiao : Endorsement CPNs

Just listing a few of my favorites, where we clowned so hard with what appears to be bxg biased signs from brands. Mostly 2020-2021. This was supposed to be a simple post but it got a little bit out of hand. So. Here you go. Enjoy!

1. RoseOnly - I will not add the RoseOnly x Peace Elite collaboration here anymore cause most of the people reading this should be familiar. A little bit of my thoughts on that are here.

Now let’s move on to other clownery, cause when I said we did see some 👀 before, I meant it.

• GG’s campaign with them where he showcased a bunny with rainbow colored flowers. They could be showcasing all the kind of flowers they have or LGBT friendly advertising. After all, All love is love. 🌈

• For Roseonly’s 8th anniversary, GG had a campaign and VCR w/ them and that big 8 flower. 8 means bo. It’s truly used for the anniversary but of course we CPN cause we are clowns.

• During Web’s promo for rules of my world and when his teaser photos came out— RoseOnly released a photo of a black rose ( same color as Web’s clothes in the teaser ) with the caption:

• When they were doing a teaser for their new endorser, some people were pointing out that the silhouette looks like Bobo. lol. Twins!

• All the references to the Lonely Planet and Little Prince for this promotion. We all know that they both love LP and whether this is CPN or a personal preference— we’re claiming it!

• The green rose they once advertised with the caption I ONLY LOVE YOU. and with the green rose symbolizing innocence, simplicity and forever young. Green and those keywords, who do you remember?

• In 2019, they did a selling bundle with Shu Uemura which was a brand Web was endorsing at that time.

• In a live, the color green and red rose were together — GG and Web colors.

• An Ad in their online store where the display is the Leo rose which is Bobo’s zodiac sign. and GG is holding Libra. Leo x Libra. And with the caption below for their advertisement. We know Web is the Leo of all Leos but it’s still 👀

The proud Leo has a child-like arrogant temper. Some people think they are not easy to get along with, but they don’t know that they just have not entered their hearts. Actually, Leo’s tenderness is only for the right person.

Some other thing that I will add here for reference but I don’t necessarily believe. Link from weibo.

• When GG was announced as their brand spokesperson and Web gave a clue in his post. Also GG making 3 different posts and kadian combinations.

I’m adding in this collab they had with Eleme, the same time Web was endorsing the brand.

I’m sure I missed a couple more from RoseOnly but that just depends on how clear your BXG glasses are. To me the most important is their Lonely Planet / Star campaign with GG last year.

2. Shu Uemura - This is one of the OG brands that Web endorses and who loves him very much. They signed him when he was not yet a big star and flew him to different countries. They treat him very well. 🤍

• The most recent one is from their Ad with Bobo and a red ribbon which made us all think of WWX. I can understand from an Ad perspective that it’s perfect to pair up with a red lipstick — but our brains are wired to CPN. Soooo. And this is not their first offense with stuff like this.

• This Ad featuring Bobo : - "博"君一笑 BJYX.

• For the promotion photos of this eyeshadow palette, the colors and look is similar to GG’s painting for the Guangdian album cover. Yes. This was done some time after the song was released.

• This one is more of a coincidence. Years apart, both on the same day, they posted about a collaboration with One piece. It’s their favorite Anime. GG as Luffy & Web as Roronoa Zoro.

3. Qeelin -  will be very lazy with this one and copy/paste from my jewelry post. Take note that this Bobo design is not new and had always been a classic from Qeelin.

4. Kai Xiao Zao - Ah! KXZ! The brand that loves GG the most. So what signs did they give?

• Their recent new product is wontons. Who do we know that likes wontons? It reminded BXGs of the unofficial BTS when Web was nagging GG to eat Wontons.

• They used a well known BXG idiom:

"你是夏日限定, 也是来日方长"

5. Chunzhen - Endorsed by Bobo, and this is under Mengniu. It caused some drama— cause GG & Web are technically promoting the same company. but like, there are so many other c-ent artists endorsing this brand.

• They posted for this year’s Qixi, stating in the Caption that Bobo is able to balance love and work. Really? How did they know? And they had made a character called XIAO ZHEN for qixi ( a cartoon girl with blue hair ).

• Zhenguoli ( endorsed by GG ) and Chunzhen drinks which are under the same company posted graphics of the two drinks together. 👀

• Also since it’s both under the same umbrella company, and both yogurt drinks— you can see their boxes together in shops.

6. Stride - In Bobo’s box set initial release, 3 flavors were included and one of them is passionfruit or bai xiang guo ( bxg ). Of course, bxgs bought it because we were represented. ✌🏼

Also in a message, the brand acknowledged BXGs but later had to delete it because of well— you know who.

• They had turtle charms and bracelets, which endeared them to BXGs.

• They had a bracelet where you can put charms and in their Ad, it spells YIBO. of course. However a BXG noticed that on their recommended letters to add next, the letters are XZ + heart with a dot.

• Last year’s promotion of a lock necklace— Web changed his Weibo header. ‘Lock love, lock you.’

8. Budweiser -- What we basically CPN about them is that they are an LGBT friendly brand and it’s always a plus when our boys endorse those kind of companies.

• Here you can find the CPN on the can that GG supposedly created with them.

• Their ad about ALL LOVE IS LOVE.•

 An earlier Ad that had two male leads. and another one recently released with same sex couple. 🌈

Also they did a collab with G-shock which is a brand that Web endorses.

9. Man Han Feast Noodles

• The most recent one is GG playing the Guqin ala LWJ and looking out the window to see the moon ( again ala LWJ ). Best part is GG looking like he would burst out laughing and they kept in the Ad.

• In their Mother’s Day post one line says “if you love someone you’ll always encourage them to eat more”. Sounds like a familiar gesture right? Who do we know nags each other to eat?

10. Zenith Do I even have to explain this? 

• GG chose a rainbow watch from Zenith collection for Qixi Festival. 🌈

11. Mengniu - Oh well, just last week they had to clarify as an Ad from them was seen with the words: "并肩于雪山之巅" = BJYXSZD. (Side by Side at the snowy mountain top)

12. Anta/ Li-ning - I’m adding it here cause the store owners in this video brought out GG/Web standees together 😂 Context is, there was a BJYX gathering going on so they took that out cause they knew the attendees loved them.

Plus this shopping app that put them together.

I’m capping this post here and will update this sometime in the future. However the ones I added here stood out to me or I experienced when it came out. I wanted to add Luckin Tea / Lays / Olay but that will be for another time.

As with all the CPN, feel free to not believe any of these and just take it as a coincidence. Or people clowning and reading into things more than they should. lol. Whether these are intentional or not, BXGs are always there to support the boys whenever they can. 🙏🏼
